{this is all stuff that she will realize after discovering her magic}
𝓈𝓅𝑒𝒸𝒾𝒶𝓁𝓉𝓎 · Working with the earth has always drawn in Estrella. She'll wander into the her mom's gardens, wanting to be near the greenery. Estrella can easily grow plants, heal them, and physically change them (i.e. if she wants a white rose, she can make one from the red ones she has). Potions are also another specialty. Growing herbs and flowers instantly, she finds the process of brewing and sweating over a cauldron for hours comforting. If she enjoys any part of her specialty, it's her ability to grow, to create.
However, controlling the earth isn't always so peaceful. When need-be, Estrella can create expansive and elaborate arrays of deadly plants. She finds it simple to form traps made of poison ivy, nippy Venus fly traps, and roses' thorny stems. She doesn't like this part of herself; it is the most ~witchy~ she feels, outside of when she's at the coven instead of at a normal, high school party or even just the school play.
𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 𝓉𝒾𝒸𝓀𝓈 ·
She avoids using magic in public at all costs, but Estrella will still find herself randomly surrounded by flowers during moments where she is overly emotional, especially if she's anxious. There hasn't been a single test since the beginning of high school where a flower or leaf hasn't appeared on her shoulder or twined around her chair. When she cries, which happens rarely, she'll find the calming scent of lily of the valley next to her, reminding her of her sister. Greenery has always found its way around her at inopportune moments.
𝒻𝒶𝓂𝒾𝓁𝒾𝒶𝓇 ·
Estrella's pet rat, Herb, is her familiar. White with a single black spot over his left eye, his black eyes are capturing and all-knowing. Having him since she was six, Herb has lived far longer than necessary, and he shows no stops of slowing down, given his constant escapes.
𝒸𝑒𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇 ·
Ever the adventurer, Ambra took Estrella cliff-diving when she was twelve (Ambra, seventeen) whilst they were in California. In times where Estrella's magic gets ahead of her, she recalls the moment before she jumped, her hand in her sister's. Matching painted-pink nails, fingertips, and soft skin. They breathed at the same time with the same heart-beat. Ambra was already diagnosed, but she insisted upon this trip (using her Make-A-Wish to do it, though they didn't know about the death-defying jump). The two stood, leaning over the ocean, for a solid thirty seconds, just breathing together. Then, they jumped, screaming, and holding hands the entire way down.
𝒶𝓁𝒾𝑔𝓃𝓂𝑒𝓃𝓉 ·
Because Estrella is indecisive as hell, she refuses to decide on what type of magic she wants. She feels herself leaning towards the light, but what if there's more to be gained by the dark? What if there's a part of her that wants to be malicious? What if she'll feel closer to Ambra, even if it's not the same thing? If she could, she'd sample both sides, but alas, magic isn't a stand at Costco.
𝓅𝓇𝒾𝓏𝑒𝒹 𝓅𝑜𝓈𝓈𝑒𝓈𝓈𝒾𝑜𝓃 ·
Her cameo pin, given to her by her sister, has been in her family for generations. Pink with an enchanting profile of a woman, it's been bewitched with a spell for goodwill and a happy future. Estrella thinks this is a bunch of bull, considering what happened to Amber, but she wears it for the memories and to appease her mother. She can be found pinning it to a ribbon and wearing it as a choker, bracelet, headband and, occasionally, she'll actually pin it to her shirt.
𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓁 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝒻𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒 ·
Although Estrella stays away from magic, she appreciates brewing more than anything. Learning a new potion is like learning a new recipe. Cooking is one of her favorite hobbies, so it makes perfect sense that she enjoys utilizing the cauldron. Still, she appreciates working with other people who have a similar specialty. She'd rather be at a normal get-together, but she'll settle for quality time with fellow witches and warlocks who ~get it~.
𝒸𝑜𝓂𝒷𝒶𝓉 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝒻𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒 ·
Given that Estrella's specialty is manipulating the earth and her aversion to magic, she chooses hand-to-hand over any other fighting style. When she's pushed, she can quickly summon an array of non-existent deadly plants or formulate the perfect trap made from quickly woven vines. She's not good at any of this (due to a purposeful lack of practice), but when in a high-strung situation, she can be encapsulating to watch. Estrella just hopes nothing ever comes to that.

face.
Estrella's face is full of wide-eyed innocence. Her eyes are a greyish-blue and shaped like almonds. They curl upward and fade into her face when she laughs at something funny. Secretly, she hates taking pictures because of this feature of her face. Her nose perks up in a witchy, button-way. She perpetually has reddened cheeks. Thankfully, the rouge only serves to highlight her high cheekbones and supple cheeks. Estrella's eyebrows are perpetually raised, usually with one higher than the other. She's known to express her sassiness through her brows. Her lips are wide, though not large. Her bottom lip hangs out lower than her upper one. It's because of this she looks like she's always like she's pouting.
Overall, Estrella's face is small and narrow. It's akin to that of a fairy's but also Glinda the Good Witch's. How ironic.
body.
Petite, with little curves though a natural pudge around her midsection. The most notable feature about her body is her thighs. She has toned legs from years of running track. Because of this, she's very graceful and regal when she walks. However, some might underestimate her because Estrella appears weak.
style.
Decorated in pink, Estrella enjoys crafting an outfit. Her style can be best described as cottagecore academia. She often mixes a lot of professional pieces, like blazers, with pieces that are much more flowy and floral. However, some days she leans more towards one of her aesthetic than the other. She likes to dress wholly professional one day, and wholly cottagecore the next. She embodies the image of a fairy princess or Elle Woods a lot of the time, and this causes kids to stare at her on the street.
- persona
personality.
good at heart
indecisive
conversationalist
justice-seeking
Intelligent, personable, and friendly, Estrella can make friends for days. Getting along with almost anyone, she's a chameleon- changing her personality from one person or group to the next. However, despite being a social chameleon, Estrella is known to reveal all of who she is to a select few. Don't expect to become a new member of that select group anytime soon, though, because these are the people that have known her since childhood, long before the trust issues and puberty set in. Although she loves easily, she's quick to change those feelings if the opportunity (or fear of abandonment) suites her. Desperate for normalcy, she can be found amongst the outskirts of the it-crowd, searching for her own place. She hides her non-normal life with an attempted all-American high school experience that is constantly interrupted with thoughts about her sister and, now, her witchiness. Although it can be overwhelming: dealing with her grades so she can get away from her hometown and go to the University of San Francisco, maintaining her social life, and keeping in touch with people she cares about, Estrella's smart enough to handle it... right?
𝓋𝒾𝓇𝓉𝓊𝑒𝓈 ·
Because she's eager to please, Estrella is a kind person. She won't purposefully hurt others- ever. She prides herself on this trait and improves on it daily, doing good deeds with her magic, though she has no idea. Heal a tree over the course of a few days, grow a bouquet of flowers for a down friend, brew a cup of calming herbal tea for her over-worked teacher, etc. Estrella wants to do good. She wants people to like her.
Never seeking an argument (in fact, she'll cower before she'll get into one), Estrella still knows how to debate with the best of them. She's a fantastic orator, but she knows when to listen. Supportive, she doles out wisdom that, nine times out of ten, does some good. Estrella, although unable to work through her own grief concerning her sister's death, is the exact type of person you can work through problems with. In fact, she's the person who fixes problems for people, though this gets her in trouble sometimes.
𝓋𝒾𝒸𝑒𝓈 ·
Estrella can't make a decision to save her life. She's desperate to please others, so she's unable to just choose. Asking her to pick sides would, literally, break her in two. Because of this, she's easy to manipulate into what someone wants. She has zero backbone, except in rare cases where she's been taken advantage of one too many times. She has a keen sense of justice, she'll have you know! Once a person has crossed her, Estrella has a tendency to go overboard with revenge. In fact, she finds the feeling addictive- as though she's righting a deep wrong through an evil hex. Justice, in whatever manner, means a lot to her. Given her sister's uncontrollable and, according to her, unjustified way of dying, Estrella is quick to hand out what she believes is the necessary punishment, whether it be a prickly bouquet of roses, a blanket of itchy ivy she casts around you in the dead of night, or a simply a status-damaging scene in the school hallway. Vengeance is, in Estrella's eyes, a means to an end in the quest for the ultimate balance in the world. Although not religious, she definitely believes in karma, and boy will she dole out justice at its finest!
In addition to being vengeful, Estrella will easily change her allegiances. She's only ever stuck to the one group of close friends, chopping her attachment up to childhood memories and a weird sense of loyalty. Outside of the girls, Estrella will cut someone loose if it means moving up on the social chain of high school or feeling more normal. It isn't personal, she's just looking out for herself. Nowadays, she keeps everyone at a distance, even though she'll come across as the friendliest person you've ever met. Estrella can't seem to let that wall down anymore like she used to be able to so easily. She still can't figure out if it's because of Ambra or just being a self-conscious teenager who's also got magical powers coursing through her along with hormones.
history.
Growing up, Estrella had a normal family. They all loved each other, had movie nights, and went on vacation. Her dad and mom didn't even fight or show signs of anything other than love for each other. In many ways, Estrella grew up privileged. This is especially true since she didn't learn about her magic until on the eve of her 18th birthday, allowing her a full childhood and teenage years. Her mother kept her magic a secret from her for many years, and she continued to keep it a secret well beyond the age many witches discover their magical powers. This was primarily due to Estrella's older sister Ambra, five years or so older than her, discovered earlier on that she was drawn to the darker side of things. This, all things considered, made sense. Fiercely independent like their father, Ambra was always the leader of the two. Estrella followed and conformed herself around those she was with, especially with Ambra. The two girls grew together like trees, with roots bound together.
However, when Ambra died of leukemia, those roots were untwisted all at once. Estrella still refuses to acknowledge that it happened, but she's struck by odd moments of grief that can make her snap at people, especially within her school group. Although Ambra died of something so incredibly human, Estrella's mom blames magic for it, though inexplicably. Disbelieving in God or any other religious figures from a young age, Estrella's mom looked to the only mystical thing for blame: the sparkles that live under their skins, a constant reminder that the thing Ambra, Estrella, and her shared most is no longer shared by anyone except a ghost. Estrella still lives with constant memories of Ambra, and she refuses to get rid of her sister's things, and since they shared a room together, her sympathetic parents don't argue. The entire Delacroix family pretends a ghost still exists, or, on other days, they pretend she doesn't exist at all. Meanwhile, Estrella feels more and more forgotten and lost.

Leola (𝓂𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇, 47)
FC: Charlize Theron
As the magical parent, Leola used to be incredibly passionate about teaching her daughters the ways of their coven. As an earthly witch, she and Ambra spent a lot of time in her early teenage-dom crafting potions and brews together. She used to spend all her spare time with her daughters. Nowadays, they don't have a lot in common since Estrella has chosen to close herself off. Leola and Estrella can be seen fighting often over this separation between the two of them, especially because it's over Ambra's death and Leola's choice to conceal magic from Estrella. Weird happenings occur around her daughter, and she refuses to offer any advice. She can barely discuss her other daughter's death, muchless the fact that Leola's grown to hate the magic that plagues her family. The last thing she wants to do is teach Estrella.
Since the death of her and Julius' first-born, Ambra, Leola's magic has died down a bit. She isn't as strong as she used to be. In fact, she isn't as vibrant at all. However, even with less magic, Leola is still heavily involved with the coven. She loves to help organize events and get-togethers, taking on a social role. Leola can often be found organizing the next coven meeting or, because of their bi-monthly appearance, she's also organizing the next benefit in Ambra's name. However, to Estrella, these events are just things Leola does with her friends. She's none-the-wiser to the coven and magic, even if weird things happen to her on a frequent basis.
Julius (𝒻𝒶𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇, 52)
FC: Brad Pitt
Working a steady job as a consult for NASA, Julius was the stay-at-home dad since his work largely relied on conference calls and, with the advent of tech, Skype. Designing programs to devise exact data for space launches, giving advice to NASA's newest programmers, and even stopping by via plane from time to time to assist in emergency troubleshooting. Julius has always loved his job, even when he realized his wife's magical abilities. He sees things clearly, and he's able to see that his job, though without the perks of spells and hexes, is what he is meant to be in the same sense that Leola and his daughters are meant to be powerful.
Growing up, Julius was always the independent one. This followed him into adulthood, and his parenting style, though loving and chopped full of memories, encourages his daughters' independence. While Leola fretted over their children, Julius would simply sit back and watch them, stepping in only when a light stock was to be touched or a cracked skull eminent. This resulted in plenty of fights between the two, but they remained fully in love, even when their oldest passed from leukemia.
Ambra (𝓈𝒾𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓇, 22, deceased)
FC: Susanne Knipper
A confident, a friend, a sister. Ambra was the glue that kept Estrella together in a lot of senses. As a dark witch, Ambra has always been the troublemaker. Their antics only made them closer, despite the five years or so between them. As she grew older, Estrella was running the race right along with her. They'd learn from each other, hence why Estrella is able to blend in with others so easily. Ambra tried to show her the world, and that has made Estrella conflicted about herself in many ways.
Living her life breath-takingly full, the entire Delacroixes were surprised when the stronger one of the two became sick. Especially by something as earthly as cancer. Ambra spent a large portion of Estrella's tween-hood in and out of the hospital. Estrella saw the toll it took on her mother, father, and herself. Estrella, being with Ambra when she passed the summer before high school, recalls the intimate details of her beloved sister's death: something not many can say they've gone through at her age. It's alienating, but Estrella, refusing to let it define her, decided that high school would be the age of normality.
