It only lasted but a moment... the peace that came with the sealing of the evil king.

A sigh of relief.

A brief breath of fresh air.

Then... Terror and panic.

The rift that opened up in the market square began consuming everything around it. No, that wasn't quite right. It was far more accurate to say that time itself was being overwritten with whatever was being poured out of that rift. The bright colors and lively sounds were replaced by the screams and moans of the dead. The buildings decayed and crumbled as their supports rotted away. It was just like when Ganondorf ruled... somehow, that timeline was being forced into this one.

Link had already rushed to the square, ever the courageous one, but not even the Hero of Time could do anything to stop what was happening. The energy was passing over the gates now and encroaching on the castle. I could see the green of the hero's tunic briefly before the wave passed over him... and he was gone.

Even now the guards are forming lines to defend me, but... it is all for naught. Somehow... some way.... Ganondorf has won.

Perhaps the goddesses grow tired of our failures...

Perhaps the goddesses are punishing me for my foolishness as a child...

The Triforce of Wisdom is glowing hotly on my skin, warning me of the impending darkness, but I shut it out. If this is to be my end, I will face it as I must. Not as a chosen child of the goddess. Not as the wielder of the triforce. I will face my end as the Princess of Hyrule.

And pray that the light will rise up against this darkness in our stead.

"And should there be brave individuals who rise to this end... Pray, forgive my weakness. Pray, forgive my foolishness. Save Hyrule..."

And as the energy rushed over the castle... The royal family was no more...

*rp starts now!*

I was escorting Rauru through Hyrule field to meet with the forest sage, Saria, when I felt the darkness erupting from Hyrule Castle. I knew Rauru felt it too, his balding head had already whipped around towards the castle, and furrowed his brow. The man had taken me in and protected me for quite a while, so I waited for his judgement on whether or not we press on.

"Rauru... This feeling... it shouldn't be possible." I scoured my memory of everything I knew about the sages seal being broken so quickly, but nothing came about it. "Was the seal preformed too hastily?"

My mentor shook his head, "No, my son, the seal was perfectly executed. This... I don't know what this is..."

That was a terrifying thought. Rauru was the smartest man I know, so if there was something he didn't know...

"What should we do...?"

In the Dark World there are two factions with any real power Ganon of the Gerudo and a tyrannical despot who seized control of the kingdom of Hyrule by slaughtering the entire royal family save for the Princess who hasn't been seen since. Feared to have been killed by monsters or something. Then there are the Shiekah feared because of their Shiekah Shadow Magic, they are led by Shiek the most formidable warrior in all the clan, leadership is held by those who can take it in a fight.

The current Shiek wages war against Ganon to reclaim the power the Shiek once had under the Royal Family. They have liberated numerous territories from Ganon. The castle is surrounded by territories still held by Ganon, Imperial Guard, & the Gerudo but that terrirtory is constanly under threat of being liberated. A small complement of the Shiekah sneaks through Ganon territory one night to the castle and hide waiting for a signal from their main forces.

Just before Dawn the Shiekah and the people who they liberated began a campaign of distraction. Several large explosions that could be seen from far away was the signal, it lured out all but a few of the Imeperial Guard that served as the personal guard of the tyrant. Shiekah led her troops into the castle inside the throne they found Ganon and his personal guard waiting for something like this. Link stood in the middle her armor shining in the morning sun. "Shiek, just accept the Royal Family you served is long dead." Shiek threw a Kunai at Link's head. Link blocked it with her shield. "Never!" Shiek drew her rapier and charged at Link. The rest of the forces did the same. Ganon just looked at the fight before him as if it was the day's entertainment.

Sheik throughout the battle was chanting something noone understood. Eventually a portal opened behind Ganon. The vortex started sucking in everything around it. Ganon held tight on to his throne. He called for Link. Link rushed to her leader's side. Using her shield's capability to block magic she stood in the between the portal and Ganon. Sheik tackled Link and the two fell into the portal and ened up in another reality unconcious.

I watched as a portal seemed to open up in front of Rauru and I and two figures came crashing out. "Rauru, stay back..." I dismounted my horse and slowly approached the bodies carefully, my fighting stance at the ready. My dark robes trailed silently in the grass as i looked over the two, a man and a woman by the looks of it.

"What in the name of Nayru...?" I slowly bent down and placed a finger against each of their throats to check for a pulse.

Link was the first to awaken. “Citizens step back from the traitor.” Link rummaged through her pockets and pulled out some rope. Shiek woke up just as Link was about to tie him up. “I don’t think so fascist.“ Shiek kipped up kicking Link in the face. Once on his feet Shiek took out his rapier. Shiek turned to the citizens. “Run!” Shiek put himself in between the others and Link. They began to fight no holds barred.

I was... shocked, to say the least. Being called a citizen was a new concept to me, but not an inaccurate description. "Master Rauru..." He speaks aside to his mentor as the two face off, "Should we... intervene?"

The sage said nothing and simply watched the two with a guarded expression. He then dismounted his horse and approached the two, "Enough. Enough I say!" His booming voice unmistakeable over the cacophony of their scrap, "I am Rauru, the sage of light, and I would have you both explain to me who you are and how you got here? A darkness has been pouring from Hyrule castle for but a few moments and now two visitors fall out of a portal in the sky."

I stood silently nearby, ready to intervene if either of the two failed to comply or simply attacked Rauru. He would not require my assistance, of course, but I would not stand idly by.

Link knocked Shiek to the ground. "How dare you! You do not talk that way to one of the Imperial Guard much less to one of the personal honor guard of our Majesty. What this traitorous Shiekah did is responsible for what is happening at the castle and our arrival here. This traitor cast some demonic shadow magic. Interferring in with an Imperial Guard in the excercising of their lawful duty is a crime, punishable by death. Back the fuck off now!" Link put her foot on Shiek's throat. "I will not hesitate to cut you down sage if you interfere again." Link raised her sword to plunge it in to Shiek's chest.

Shiek threw a handful of dust into Link's eyes. The loss of Link's sight gave Shiek enough freedom to break free of Link's hold on him. Shiek knew this was not their world because he bore witness to her world's Sage Rauru's death at the hands of the Imperial Guard. "Sage Rauru I assume you don't serve a tyrannical despot named Ganon. Restrain this harlot and allow me to go free. I must get back and destroy the monster ruining my Hyrule."
