"Honey!!! Wheres my Supersuit?"
We all know what an OCC is for, keep it cordial and within the rules of Rpn please.

Ok just dropped our mayor of Driscol.

He is a good example of a Mid-High tier Inquisitor in combat prowess, there are many who are better than him, but many more who are not.

This is a decent measuring stick as the inquisition represents the Elite military faction of Thandrell, Knights from Vulkun are comparable to them. Think of them as well educated and trained professional militants, as opposed to the common soldier who is kitted with cheap gear and given cheap training with next to no value put in academics.

So is there any remnants of the old society? Like advanced tools, weapons, vehicles? Or like did the cataclysm wipe out all tech too?

There is definitely ruins, It was more of a magi tech society. And sadly they went the route of magical wifi type stuff so the cataclysm would have wrecked the functionality of most everything, what little that can be found likely does not function the way it should. But in some ways that can be useful.

For example a rod once meant to display a hologram of the person holding another rod of the same kind, malfunctioned so that instead of being a fancy hologram face time, it shoots hard-light open handed slaps at its users foes now, because it glitched on someone waving goodbye.

The epitome of bitch slapping someone

I'm eyeing Chief Manaite, but would love to know more detail about them.
  1. Do you have specific age for the character?
  2. They can be Wizard/Sorcerer/Druid? Or they have to be specific?
  3. I know, we are free to make the character as we wish, but do you have specific that need to be followed for this character?

K and I gots more questions too:

- If mages can sense magic then is it impossible to hide that you have magic powers?
- is it even possible to learn magic powers if you just a mundane citizen?
- for the mana powered spells, how do you regenerate mana so you can use your powers again?

Excellent questions.

1. No specific age, but they would be a leader, one that others would have to acknowledge.

2. Anything is fair game, more important than their abilities is their social capabilities and their negotiating skills. Someone who is quick to lose their temper or make impulsive decisions is not a good fit.

3. Just one really. An understanding. This world presents magic users as similar to the mutants from marvel. They are hated and feared, have been for a long time. This business with Leonard is the best hope for a positive change that has presented itself in centuries. It will certainly be an uphill struggle but dark as the situation may be, its never been brighter for the possibility of magical acceptance.

Also good questions

1.) Sensing magic is a clash of talants. Skilled mages can mask their own magical energies by blending them with the natural world or shifting them to seem to emanate from an item. Likewise talented enough mages can see through some of this obfuscation. It will mostly be a case by case basis. For example My flame smith nolan has literally no chance of detecting a mage with even a moderate amount of obfuscation skills. That said, the likelihood of hiding a magic item from him is slim to none. Hell he might be able to identify magic items that are MADE to he hidden. Likewise A magical hunter or ranger perhaps certain kinda of druid would have advantages in seeking out magic users even with their stealth being factored in.
Hope that helps i know its pretty convoluted.

2.) yes, in fact that is exactly what a wizard is. A mundane individual who has learned to harness magic. They are more versatile in the kinda of spells they can cast but less powerful in the raw magical output department.

3.) Mana naturally regenerates over time in one of two ways. First for those who draw power from within (Mages and all subclasses therof) they regenerate the easiest out of any magical demographic. Time and rest is all they need. A good nights sleep can bring them from empty to full.

Those who draw power from without (Druids and all their subclasses) Have the fastest recovery rate being able to regenerate mana from the environment, they can go from empty to full in as little as three hours but must be conscious for the process.

Smiths kinda got the shit end of the stick. They don’t have mana in the conventional sense. They have A soul that can be split into fragments and each fragment holds a large amount of mana. Their mana does not regenerate naturally, The part of the soul they put into an item is just Removed from their “mana pool” altogether until the item is broken, its mana expended, or the enchantment otherwise broken. At which point the piece of their soul returns and will reattach itself to the whole over a period of time. Smiths Who use all their soul die the very same instant. The remaining magic items they created will be strengthened and each one that breaks, or runs out of mana will have its portion of soul divided amongst the rest of that smiths Items until only one remains. That last remaining one becomes an “Artifact”, basically a sentient magical item that has a regenerating mana pool, is apparently indestructible. The inquisition has 19 such items in their Vault as they could not destroy them, not for lack of trying of course. Its a rather obnoxious room to be in, filled with ornery trinkets heckling whoever comes in.

Hmm 👀

Wear armor and use a sword Yes. In fact…ive got a guy who can help in that area.

But be officially knighted by a lord? Maybe. Would require finagling.

Be a member of one of the Knight houses of vulkun? No. They would be weeded out and purged through some fairly simple but effective methods that i wont reveal because i haven’t thought of them yet.

k soooo like last set of questions lol

- is there like a country where brown skinned peoples are from or is this like all modelled after northern european peoples?
- is there like a 'witch of the forest' kinda like an archdruid? and how does either country view druidic/shamanic types?
- how close is the undead horde to the bordering lands where the refugees want to cross?

Yes malchus and Shellan receive almost year round sun exposure and produce many of a darker complexion. Migrants from there have spread far and wide thus many nations have blended, resulting in a range of tones between the two. Discrimination is uncommon but not unheard of and there is little to no institutional power behind such sentiments.

There certainly can be. I hadn’t exactly thought about one so if you make one im not opposed. Druidic and shamanic types are magic users to be purged by the inquisition. Actually for most they are near the top of the hated list behind necromancers and infernal types. Especially if they consort with dead things or forgo/oppose civilization.

If we take a look at the map that little strip of land where vulkun and thandrell meet is where the focus is. Driscoll’s eastern most wall is about 2.3 miles from the border. The western wall faces the hordes and has military encampments for miles, Towns encompassed with ramparts, hastily constructed towers etc. they call this Packed warzone The Threshing Grounds. It extends from The western wall all the way to the northern mountain range and south through the forests to the coast.

k awesomes. tysm. soooo like tell me if this works:

K my girlie is a princess from Shellan. she and her bro are envoys for their country and moms. her bro is the suave mouthpiece, she the dancing eyecandy. they on a mission to try to get Thandrell to purchase more of their jewels, precious metals and their (**insert cool cools name here substance**) that is mined in their country and used to be used to power the old societies magic. But like now its near useless due to the collapse of economy due to the terror bombing of the magic satelite thingies and teleporters during the cataclysm. In return they will open their borders to the Thandrells and accept refugees.

So like my girlie and her entourage land via ship. They meet the escorts and head off to the capital. But on their way to capital the horde attacks them. The survivors manage to make it to the capital and there, they show what the (**insert cool cools name here substance**) can do. One of the Shellan entourage is an archdruid of great renown in Shellan and she is going to consecrate the special part of the forest to make an elemental stronghold. The horde has numbers but the archdruid can help the Thandrell peoples against the horde with her own army; the trees and the elemental spirits themselves. Powered by ancient Primal magics, the forest and all its flora will take on spirits, rip out from the ground and deal with the horde. From air, earth, fire and water, walking elementals will also rise and fight. Ultimate army; for they cannot be infected.

But then like the archdruid has to take living spirits to bribe the ancient spirits for aid, and so she does. But the people of Thandrell gathered don't trust the bad juju from the witch and when they feel their spirits being manipulated, they freak and riot. A mage slayer type ends up shooting the archdruid with a mage killing arrow, mortally wounding the archdruid and sending her into a coma.

Now they are screwed and so despite the distrust, my girlie princess and her entourage have to travel with the refugees going to the border cuz they trapped here unless the archdruid can be cured. but it isn't looking good for her. And if she dies, not a good thing between the groups cuz all Shellan Royalty are all natural sorcerers. Even their citizens are encouraged to practice elemental wizardry. They respect the Thandrell ways to not use magic, so they wear suppressing jewellry so as they my speak normally with the countries that do not practice magic such as Thandrell and Vulcan. But if the archdruid dies, the Shellans will see this as an act of war and will side with Vulcan, cross on their own, and make sure none of the Thandrells make it across the border.

lmk if like that too much drama or if it dont fit k?

It works but i have a few little tweaks.

mage killer arrow, basically is just a poison arrow. Healing magic is rare and even when it is accessible the caster must be notably powerful. Thus a standard poisonous arrow, likely of synthetic make due to the druid thing would fit very well. It is also a tactic of the inquisition to use The Path of the Eagle Snipers to take out strong mages. So it makes canonical sense.

To be fair…if they are a culture that embraces magic…vulkun would probably tell them to piss right off. Thandrell likely would as well if not for the fact that its literally one city short of nonexistence. Nonetheless this could all fit rather well. Id wager it would be much easier to negotiate with Leonard than the other powers of nation.

Last bit. The capital fell maybe two years ago. If the druid has been afflicted that long the poison would be really strong and with the limited resources available it may not be possible to cure them by standard means. But i may have a solution that a high caliber magic user of the nature/life variety could sus out. Your character seems a good fit DM me.
