Welcome Home

Life in the Facility can be a chaotic one. Happens when you shove a bunch of hormonal, supercharged, traumatized kids all in one place, I guess. Despite this, staff do their best to keep the kids on a set schedule to bring some sense of normalcy among the chaos. Patients can find these schedules posted in their rooms by the door.

Rooms are typically shared by two Patients, separated by gender, as long as it is considered safe for them to do so. They are often paired up based on temperament- you won't see two hotheads in the same room if they can help it.

Simply furnished, all rooms are identical outside of personal items brought in for or by Patients. Two beds, two dressers, two shelves. For safety reasons, most furniture in the Facility has been bolted down, or are heavy enough so they are unable to be lifted. Not that that stops certain kids.

The Facilities can only hold around 700 people at one time, excluding staff, some of whom live on site with the Patients. Our own Cordon Facility has many things to keep Patients busy during the day, including a library, game room, and a gym. And no, just because you’re in a medical environment doesn’t mean you can avoid school. Classrooms are available throughout the Facility, and a greenhouse is on the roof for those particularly attuned with nature.

Classes vary, though are similar to those in the public education system along with some more based in power control, and therapy groups are mandatory.

Patients are a rather recent medical anomaly, discovered sometime in the early 90s. Defined as children who have developed supernatural abilities in response to trauma, it is driven into minors from a young age to immediately contact law enforcement or an adult they trust to be transferred should they begin developing… unusual attributes. Legal guardians are forced to relinquish custody of the child upon transfer, and unless you can afford it, visitations to the Facility can be a rare event.

Public opinion varies greatly when it comes to Patients, due to the circumstances in which they develop and what happens to those discovered. You either learn to control it and go on to be assigned a job by the government, or…

Well, no one really knows what happens to those who don't. It's like they simply never existed.

In this, everyone will be part of the same therapy group to connect the characters. Your schedules will also be very similar, though I wont actually post one as we might be time skipping some of the boring bits. I’ll let ya guys know regularly what’s going on :’) Once characters are done, I’ll pair you guys up with a roommate!

The Less Than Ordinary Among the Extraordinary

Sometimes, the Facility gets kids that just can't control themselves, or their abilities pose dangers to others around them in manners that can't be handled by other means. Staff say the get "transferred", down to a lower level of the facility, but you know how kids get. Rumors fly. Those who go down never come back up, and are rarely mentioned again. Some believe... something more nefarious happens, down below.
