Taylor's Home For Androids is not freedom.
Androids from all over are bought and sold through an illegal trade known as The EtherNet Road.
Whether kidnapped, Abandoned, many androids end up in this trade. Some of them were human, kidnapped, bodies sold on the Blackmarket and the minds uploaded into Android models to be sold for extra cash on the EtherNet Road. Rumor has it that anyone can be a victim of these circumstances, the poor, the rich, famous. No one is safe.
At some point. Some of them end up at Taylor's Home for Androids. Often depicted as a Safe Haven for the lost and taken. Returning them to their loved ones safe and sound or allowing them to stay if they have nowhere else to go.
This is a lie.
The Androids that are taken in are branded and given copyright ownership to Taylor herself. Essentially making them owned objects of this strange woman, forfeiting their rights as legal persons. Of course, this procedure is involuntary. Any Androids from families looking for them have their minds copied and put into identical drones to make sure their loved ones stop looking. Giving the organization the appearance of being for the greater good.
What Taylor does with the androids is unknown to the public as they are essentially her slaves.
