And so their first job as new recruits is to get rid of some vermin that had been rampaging the streets as of recent. Sakura would have been thinking that it's a waste of her skill, but then she reminded herself that she did hunt vermin back when she was a part of her clan. That being said...

"Rats you say? Well, I did have my experience hunting them down back at the forest. We also happen to eat them as well. It was quite chewy but really tasty when cooked properly. That said though, do you like eating rats?"
She spoke outright towards Cephilia, even though she and the other patrons of the guild might be sick to hear it, let alone experience it. "I can cook up a dinner with them if it is fine with all of you. Rats are actually a kind of delicacy from my clan, especially when it is made into a stew." She added, not minding what reaction she will get from her human soon-to-be companions.

Cressey
Current Location:

"Hmph! You make a fair point, knight," Cressey concedes, knitting her hands behind her head, her eyes wandering off towards the murals mounted on the walls; depictions of heroes battling vicious monsters, and overcoming impossible feats.
No murals of heroes trawling through human filth to catch some pesky vermin, oddly enough.
With a small huff, she adds, "...Still, unless it is as you say, and there is something far more menacing than a few rats lurking within those sewers, I fail to see what a cat or trap or two couldn't accomplish in our stead."
A point a few others echoed, namely that shifty-looking elf, along with a beastkin that flitted periodically in the corners of her vision, seeming content to meld into the large shadow cast by the Ovil-kin man that towered above her.
The gentle giant took a small reprieve from his duties casting shade to add on to the knight's words, adding with a small (hopefully) jest that there would be fun and adventure to be found within the town's underground sewer system, to which Cressey flatly replied, "If you find fun in rooting through human waste, I shall find myself worrying for the state of your mental health, sir."

Speaking of which, that same pesky gleam that had assailed her as she first entered the hall was back again, and along with it came that garishly dressed fool she had seen standing atop one of the guild's tables.
Getting a closer look at him now, he was even more idiotic than she had previously noticed, sporting some gawdy manner of crown atop his head, along with a single plate bound to his shoulder, polished to an absolutely obnoxious degree.
He carried with him all of the pomp and posture of nobility that Cressey had come to absolutely loath. And yet, there was some strange thing about him that struck Cressey as just ever so slightly off...
...Well, more off, anyway.
And to her clear dismay, it seemed that she had captured his attention.
The nobleman knelt down, putting himself at eye level with her. Instinctively, Cressey retreated a small half-step back.
Everything about him was offensive to her, from his annoying countenance, to the condescending tone of his words.
But what offended her most of all was that piece of candy he placed in the palm of her hand.
She was no stranger to being looked at as a weak, defenseless child, and oh, did she loathe to be treated so.
But no one
Absolutely no one
Had the gall to actually give her candy.
It had caught her so off-guard that she couldn't even register the hand he put atop her head.
Muted shock was writ clear on Cressey's face, looking at the purple piece of sugar in her hand as her mind struggled to process all that had just happened.
Then her cheeks ran flush and hot with embarrassment as realization finally dawned on her, followed shortly with righteous indignation as she viciously swatted the man's hand off of her head, crushing the tiny candy mercilessly in her palm as she wound her clenched fist back to repay the "noble's" generosity with a firm blow to the stomach.
But by then, he was already gone, prancing away in his own little wonderland, leaving Cressey to instead vent her anger a harsh, irritated sigh.
"Whatever." Cressey huffed once more, crossing her arms as she quietly accepted that she would just have to give "Sir Razul" his due at a later hour.
"Rat, beast, bandit or anything in between; If it proves myself to you lot, I'll fend off whatever you have to throw at me."

QUEST I:
THE DEN OF DARKNESS

A half hour passed quickly. Vivienne gave the adventurers time to store any belongings they did not plan on taking underground or acquire any items they thought they might need. She also used that time to gather a few things of her own. But, as directed, they all met at the clocktower at the appointed time. As the tallest and oldest structure in Tylsen, it served as an excellent landmark, easily identifiable from nearly anywhere in the city. But, more importantly, the tower's foundations ran deep underground. It served a dual purpose.

A soldier sat hunched over in a creaky wooden chair by the door. The arrival of this group of adventurers interrupted his lunch. He gazed at them with half of a sandwich in his hands, still chewing lazily. He was an aging man, in ill-fitting armor with a broadsword on his hip. A shield leaned nearby, slightly tainted by surface rust. He seemed mildly surprised when this menagerie of armed personnages began to congregate, probably wondering what was going on and if he ought to do something about it, but noticeably relaxed when Vivienne approached him. The centaur greeted him and they exchanged a few words and laughs.

"Fresh meat? They look... ready. Or ready enough, I s'pose," the soldier said with a grin after the small talk died down.

"Of course," Viv replied with a smile.

"Goin' up or goin' down?"

"Down, of course."

"Oof. Startin' 'em off with the fun stuff, I see," the man said as he fished a ring of large rusty keys from his belt and tossed them to Viv. "Ya know where to find me when you're done."

After thanking the man, she led the group inside, where they found a rather utilitarian interior. Plain stone walls stretched upward toward the heavens, lined with rows of stairs. Somewhere far above them, the clock's mechanical innards and belfry loomed. But their destination was not up, but down. A large metal drive shaft ran vertically, from the center of the floor to the clockworks far above. It slowly turned and a rhythmic humming could be heard beneath their feet.

Vivienne led the group down a short flight of stairs, which ended at a thick wooden door with a heavy padlock. Using one of the two keys the soldier had given her, she unlocked it and led the group inside, where she began to explain the layout of Tylsen's underground systems. The room they arrived in was very large and roughly circular, with walls that appeared to be carved into the bedrock. The rotating shaft they had seen above came through its ceiling and entered a mess of churning, grinding, squealing machinery, which divided its rotational power into more shafts, which disappeared into the floor. It all looked very cobbled together, with some parts looking quite new and others seeming very, very old. The sound of rushing water could be heard, but not seen, all around them, and everything felt damp, cool, and smelled of moisture. Water could be seen seeping up at the seals around the various spinning shafts.

Despite her lack of mechanical know-how, Vivienne did her best to explain that this was the main pump room, driven by whatever manatech operated the clocktower far above them. Somewhere beneath their feet, a series of paddles and corkscrews pushed fresh water up to the surface and simultaneously pushed gray water out. She led them toward another, final door, and explained that this was one of many entrances to the sewer itself. Beyond this door, was the first level of the sewer, which carried runoff from the streets above. The tunnels there would be mostly brick or magically-shaped stone, and about wide enough for them to travel four- or even five-abreast, so long as those walking in the center don't mind getting their boots wet. But the relatively low ceilings might cause difficulty for someone such as Risax or Thal.

Beneath that, is a lower level for the black water. While the structure of its tunnels and passages is much the same, Viv didn't have to explain the key difference: while the first level might have a faint musty stench to it, the lower level is a stomach-churning, dank den of filth and misery. "I sincerely hope you find the source of the rat problem without having to go that deep," she said, lamentably, but explained that if they had to or, goddess forbid, wanted to go further down, it could be accessed via the overflow passages located throughout the main level, though very few of these have ladders for getting back up.

And, lastly, there were underground caves mingled throughout the system, in various conditions of decay. In ancient times, these carried the bulk of Tylsen's water systems, but, as time and technology progressed, the city found better ways and most of these have been blocked off, rerouted, or simply collapsed due to age. Unfortunately, they still exist and, Viv went on to say, "these have often been where the vermin like to nest." Even the largest ones can squeeze through incredibly narrow gaps, make their way to the surface, and become a nuissance. Traps have worked in the past, temporarily, but the rats always outsmarted them eventually. They always returned, one way or another.

"They are inevitable," she concluded. "But, so are we."

After explaining all of this, in her rambling, storyteller fashion, Viv unlocked the door, turned to the group, and bowed with a small flourish.

"I shall wait here for you. In the spirit of adventure, I will not tell you how to approach the situation. These tunnels are vast and maze-like. Attempts to map them have borne flawed fruit. The documents we have would likely cause more confusion than good. With that being said, I believe getting lost is the greatest danger, so tread carefuly and be aware of your location at all times," she warned, wagging her finger at them as she retrieved three, clouded, roughly-cut blue gemstones from her saddlebags.

"These are stargazer stones, a very useful tool for those of us in the escort business. More useful than a typical flare," she said with a wink as she extended them to the group. "If you become hopelessly lost or find yourself in danger or just need a hug, strike it hard against a solid surface and it will begin to glow brightly. Once released, it will seek the sky and help will probably come. I don't have enough for all of you, but four should be sufficient for whatever groups you choose to divide yourselves into. You'll cover more ground that way, but don't go alone! Oh, and don't hesitate to use this! There is no shame in asking for help! Although... hmmm...." Despite souding very firm a moment ago, she suddenly became quite pensive. "If I know Cephilia, I'm sure calling for help will forfeit whatever 'extra reward' she has in store for you. But, nevermind that! Your lives are more important!"

She took a deep breath after what amounted to a long, rambling 'goodbye,' and silently gestured toward the door. Beyond it, lay the sewer's main level: a dark, slimy brick corridor, with a thin trickle of water and various bits of street litter flowing down its center. Ocasionally, more water and trash would splash down from holes in the wall or from grates above. Distant splashes and the sound of running water could be heard all the time, echoing in the dark. The dim, sickly orange glow of a manatech crystal glowed nearby and others would be seen every fifty meters or so, but a torch would still be an excellent idea. Other than that, the only light came from the narrow grates leading to the surface, but these were few and far apart.

"Go... go! Before I find something else to prattle on about," Viv said. "I shall remain here, anxiously awaiting your return. No, not anxiously. That would imply I'm worried, which I am not. Not at all."

Thea Schuerer
Location: Underground, Tylsen

Having went straight to the meeting location, Thea was a bit awestruck by the massive height of the clock tower and it's surrounding buildings, it was a small wonder how the bells could be heard across the city and beyond. And so she waited as the others gathered then Vivienne.

Noting the Veteran looking guardsman, she wagered he had been at this post for many years and seemingly didn't have more than a casual curiosity in them with the same shit eating grin that a veteran would have at a hazing once word on why they were here had reached him. He seemed to have an inkling on what waited below with a casual remark to their keeper as he likely thought of Vivienne in this situation.

Bit by bit as they were led onwards, Thea soon found the plans the others made dash, as the shaft grew ever more above them, she found a strange comfort in the certainty in the stonework that showed man had been here, that man had conquered these depths and built them with the blessing of the Goddess. There was nothing here to fear, but fear itself, as she heard machinery shift and the flow of water, as they lowered further and further into the darkness with the occasional light source here and there, every so often the shaft showed the location where torches had marred the walks, replaced with the manatech that now served to light the way. Eventually they reached the bottom, all of them being carried safely in one trip. Listening to the advice Vivienne had to offer, it seemed she would not be able to offer them any real answers or help, there was little point in asking of more and she knew a woman as kindhearted as her had to have her reasons... Even though the possibility existed that the beastfolk may have been doing this all as an act, then her acting skills were that of a Saint and she was not about to second guess an ally without cause.

"Thank you for all your help, Lady Yvarra. We shall return." One thing was for sure, Falco likely knew nothing about this, and even if he had, the thrown together construction and the age of it all would likely take some time to explore, she was awe inspired about this place as she was intimidated, however she was a Schuerer. Their whole family had made a name for fighting Cavalry, large beasts and heavily armored foes, many times the size of them, to be at the forefront of an attack or a defense and to counterstrike it. They were to be a rock to break the waves or be broken in turn.

To allow this place to make her cower and to depend on others would spit on her ancestors, on her father, grandfather and all those who came before and if need be, died. Reaching for her lantern and lighting it, she lets it dangle by a cord at her left wrist, as she took one of the four stones into her right and spoke with both command and reasoning.

"We should split into four, one team to a portion of the waterworks. Let those with daring, courage or foolishness take up a stone. Two teams should specialize in driving them back and two in killing the vermin. We should scout for the ring of the next bell or two and then return here, tracing our path through the tunnels by sticking to one direction and following it back. I shall lead a kill team, it is all that I know, and I dare not ask to follow another. No one goes alone. Should we find something more than the rats or a major nest, break it if you must, but otherwise return here and we destroy it en masse or report the findings. We cannot wait for them, and we cannot lay traps above. I shall not speak for any of you, I am deciding for myself. Should one be able to make a better plan I am all ears but we do not want to spend the night here for a debate committee.."

Everything was all set for Sakura to take up her first job. As soon as she had arrived, she took a good look at the massive clocktower, something that she had never seen before. "Is that thing supposed to read time? I've never one quite like it." It is obvious that she was awe struck from the structure. Her village never had one of these and they only have a sundial to tell the time. Sakura came back to her senses as she follows the group down the den where the rats are currently infesting.

The stench going down has started to make Sakura worry of her sense of smell as it is vital for her hunting prowess. It becomes more stronger the longer they went, but Sakura is determined to finish the job no matter the condition. She listened to what Vivienne had to say about the place and what they're going to deal with. For Sakura, she thinks that there is no vermin that could be as cunning and smart as the rest. Rather, their instincts were faster than the others that allowed them to react more quickly.

Once they stopped at a door that will them to where the rats are, Vivienne insisted that she stays behind and wait for the group's return, but not without giving them items that may be of use. One of the newbies insisted to split into four groups; two into pushing the vermin back and the other two to eliminate them. "Sounds like a reasonable strategy. Very well, I shall lead the team to push them back. I believe that I know better to hunt them down than to attack them directly. Besides, I think I'm in the mood for rat stew after this." Sakura volunteers.

Location: The Clocktower Undercroft

During the little time they were alotted, Falco chose to get himself a proper weapon. While he certainly liked his daggers, they were ill-suited to the task at hand. He needed something with reach, but not too long. His search for such a fine weapon took him beyond the city limits, for no mere blacksmith could fashion such a tool. No, only the gods themselves could give him what he needed.

On the outskirts of town, Falco chose a nice sturdy tree -- oak, probably, but he's no expert-- climbed up, and snapped off a nice, thick branch. About three feet long. Relatively straight. Perfect diameter to feel good in his hands. Yeah, this ought to splatter some rat brains real good, he thought as he took a few practice swings. It was as if the nature spirits themselves had bequeathed this fine specimen to him.

He arrived at the meeting place shortly afterward, just as Viv was leading everyone inside. Falco soaked in as many details as possible as they descended into the clocktower's undercroft. The centaur explained that this wasn't the only entrance to the sewers. This fact seemed obvious to Falco. This was probably just the 'proper' way to get down there. This route had a nice stairwell and locked doors but, surely, the town was littered with narrow cracks, grimy nooks, and slimy crevasses someone could slither down if they wanted to reach the sewers. He knew many such hidey holes in Achelreide and would probably find just as many in Tylsen, given enough time and motive to do so.

This was the beginning of a new chapter in his life, so he tried to force himself to change his thinking. But, sometimes, thinking like a thief can come in handy. I mean, isn't that what these rats are? he thought. They sneak up out of their hideout to steal food from the surface dwellers, then scurry back down here. I can find these little bastards. I know 'em better than anybody else.

This came with the unpleasant implication that he had been behaving like a rat his entire life, but Falco chose to brush that minor detail aside.

When they arrived in the pump room, Falco found himself distracted by all of the machinery there. For a brief moment, he gawked in slack-jawed wonder, but quickly snapped out of it and donned his 'cool' face, pretending he's not impressed. He had never seen such a marvel in Achelreide, probably because the pumps were behind locked doors or in sealed vaults. If one of these gizmos throws a cog or chucks a screw, some nobleman up there won't be able to use his bedet. How dreadful! However, despite never seeing these machines before, the noise they made was quite familiar to him. He was no stranger to that rhythmic churning and humming.

When Thea laid out her plan, he resisted the urge to say it was all pointless and they should just bum rush the tunnels and start playing whack-a-mole 'til all the little squeakers are pulped. But, that's not what friends do. The mental image of her clutching her icon at the guild hall suddenly came back to him and he felt the urge to make this work, the urge to try as hard as she was, and not care what that might look like to the people standing beside him.

Don't fuck this up, he thought, both for his sake as well as Thea's. He remained acutely aware of Viv's presence. Despite her kindness and bubbly demeanor, the eyes of a veteran adventurer were upon them, judging every move they make. Getting the job done is not enough. They needed to excel.

"I'm daring, courageous, and foolish, so I'll take that, if ya don't mind," he joked as he plucked one of the stones from Viv's large hand and shoved it straight into his pocket. I'll take it so one of you don't use it and blow our shot at a bonus, he thought. He briefly shifted his attention to Thea. "And, hey, don't sell yourself short," he said with a friendly smile and a snap of his fingers. "I'm sure you know a lot more than killing, Thea. We got this."

Before he could go on, the fox girl spoke up, declaring that she would help drive the rats... and might be making rat stew after this. Goddess, have mercy! That gorgeous tail and she can cook!? Where have you been all my life? Falco thought as he moved closer to her. She's probably gonna smell like a wet dog before this is over, but won't we all?

"Sakura, right? Falco," he said, offering his hand for a firm shake. "You and I might be the only ones here who have had the pleasure," he added, referring to the consumption of rat meat. "Some bloke bet me three feln, said I wouldn't eat it. Said he'd give me two more if I don't puke." His smirk slowly grew, as if this were a fond memory. "Easiest three feln I ever made." Falco laughed as he released her hand. "Anyway, since we got so much in common, I say we partner up, seeing as how we're both professional rodentiers and such. I love your tail, by the way. Not that that has anything to do with anything. I just figured you should know, so if you catch me staring, I promise, I'm not staring at your ass... just the thing attached to it... which makes it a part of your... damn.... okay, I'm gonna stop talkin' now. Makin' it worse."

Still nomming a couple cookies she had managed to snag before departure, enjoying their fluffy sweetness, the cobra found herself congregated with the other aspirants in the famous Tysen clocktower. She joyfully chewed her treat while observing the strange, cheerful old coot who held the keys, and the rest of the intriguing inner workings of the clocktower. Madam Vivienne laid down the explanation of what was at stake. Elaborating on the uncanny maze of caverns beneath their feet. Some modern, others since unknown times. She listened carefully, attempting to draw a mental map in her head. It seemed getting lost was a real threat. Even Hyss was a bit worried about that, but resolved to remain vigilant. If something like this was a trial, then she'd never make it in her chosen line of work! Similar to Falco, she was imagining all the little nooks and crannies and hidden hidey-holes that lead into the sewers, knowing there had to be boundless ways to reach those dark depths if one so wished.

The question itself seemed to imply no one did, but she highly doubted that. She assumed there were all sorts of riffraff, shameless, petty, crafty, corrupt, or otherwise, who casually made the sewers their homes, either due to being cast outs, found such dark hidey-holes to be useful, or because they reveled in the filth. Cities -as pristine as they appeared on the surface, always had undisclosed seedy underbellies. Regardless, as this was an official mission from the guild, it was no surprise they were using official avenues to reach their destination. Though, for Hyss, she assumed later on she'd be forced to use more unscrupulous means to achieve later goals in the guild, or in her life. She steeled herself for those future days, as well.

As the depths loomed below, while the belfry hung above, the tall knightess then spoke her plans on the matter. She suggested teams with their own objectives, and laid out the suggestion they simply map the area and then return here with findings.

It had probably be said in jest, but "rat stew" sounded like heaven, wetting Hyss' appetite. Even so, at this depth the Beastfolk was glad she wore a mask. Which she instinctively tugged up a bit more. Her own 'sense of smell' was strong. But she smelled in a different way. The roof of her mouth had her vomeronasal organ. Making her basically taste scent. And the thought of tasting the stench down there was a repulsive notion. So before going down, she made sure her mask was firmly in place. With that being said, it meant her sense of smell would be hindered, making her effectiveness hampered, but she didn't think that would really affect her all too much, considering they were just killing rats. Instead of more cunning, dangerous opponents where she thoroughly relied on her senses to overcome. 'You'd be wrong,' Hyss thought, overhearing Falco talking to the fox about her 'rat stew' comment nearby. His brazen, shameless comment about her tail only made Hyss self-aware of her own scaly tail. Hidden away in her cloak.

She stepped forward -but not that forward. Swallowing her last bite, she spoke up. "I shall join a kill team," the hooded girl announced. She didn't think "driving" something was conducive to her skill set. Typically shadowy agents always went on missions with an escape route in mind, but this mission was rather straightforward. "I shall leave the choice to use the stargazer stones up to others' judgment. Or perhaps, cowardice. And simply perform my part assuming the mission shall go smoothly."

Gaius Karlings Kampfer
Location: Tylsen Clocktower - Underground.

Having accepted the quest Gaius departed the Guild Hall making his way for the Large clock tower keeping his eye out for a suitable club along the way. Much to his dismay no such object presented itself to him, not even a chair or table leg. With a slightly annoyed sigh Gaius made for the Clocktower arriving about five minutes before the group descended into Tylsen's depths. Upon his arrival Gaius couldn't help admire the height of the structure, It's been a while since he's seen Castle Karlings but if he had to guess this Clocktower was taller than the Castle's main keep.

Gaius remained quiet during the short tour of the pump room letting Viv explain what she could. With the stench of the sewer system proper reaching Gaius's nose he reached into his waistband and produced a freshly cleaned rag; wrapping it around his head covering his nose and mouth as best he could. It was unfortunate that the party was going into these sewer systems without any real intel, A idea came to mind about using Risax's webs to make a trail that the group could use to return to their entry point. That plan however would mean his other plot would be null and void.

Fortunately Vivienne solved that, producing a small stone she called a 'Stargazer Stone.' She explained that if they had struck stone against a wall it would lead them out. It was a convenient tool for the groups to have down here. Vivienne also warned the party against going off alone, for those who've never been in Tylsen they'd probably follow that advice even if they weren't in the underground maze that made up the Sewers.

Before Gaius could speak up to explain his plan, Thea, Sakura, Falco and the short white haired girl spoke up volunteering for 'Kill teams'. There was also talk of eating rats between Falco and Sakura. Unbeknownst to him, he and Hyss had the same thought on the matter but Gaius would keep the various things he's eaten on the road to himself. "Focus Gaius" he thought to himself as he shook his head back and forth slightly. "Actually I have another Idea, I think Risax should have a team, we find a cistern or a similarly larger room and set up in there. From there Risax can weave nets out of his Web and we can spread them out in the corridors surrounding the the large room and have them connected to a main web. When something walks on the web Risax can pull them up in a kind of netted dead fall trap, then the two with him can move to the corridor the net is and whack whatever is caught. The other teams would be hunt teams whose job would be to chase the rodents toward the trapped corridors. If the search teams find a nest mark it with something and fall back to where ever Risax's team is set up. Then we'll cut off all of the nest's possible escape routes and eliminate the source."

on one hand Risax was happy to learn that he could at least fit through the tunnels of the sewers. Upon Reaching their meeting place a clock tower. Risax listening intently to Vivian’s talk about the various diffrent systems they encountered on there journey to the underground, frankly he found it most interesting, eventually they’d reach the entrances to the sewers low ceiling and corridors… also the fact that apparently this underground was labyrinthine inside was a slight concern, luckily they where giving a life line in the form of some kind of magical flare rock. Risax was considering how to go about this when that thea girl seemed to already have a idea split up into four team two for flushing the rats out and another set for slaying the rodents.

Risax nodded thoughtful. “Well seems like a better idea then anything I could come up with if traps aren’t going to work like Lady Yvarra said it would seem that its our best option.” Risax commented Falco and the fox woman agreeing upon it as well though it seemed Falco was trying to flirt with the fox woman too. Rat stew did sound nice tho but that would probably be a discussion for another time. However Gaius had another idea involving Risax basically producing a large to ensnare their intended targets while such a strategy would certainly be viable the creation of such a web network to at least be effective would require at least two days of silk work… and Risax didn’t exactly carry that much on his personal producing the webbing wouldn’t be an issue but more so the time however it could work on a smaller scale to stop any of the rodents from slipping past a kill team.

“Hmm their are a few flaws in that plan Gaius… making such a vast network would take a day or two.. but considering the supplies iv brought and my own webbing we should be able to make some webbing that would act as barriers so the rodents don’t slip past the kill teams. in fact” Risax paused removing a set of rolled up whitish fabric from a satchel bag to present it “if you can secure this to the walls of the sewer it will at least serve as a barrier in the absence of myself to produce webbing sound good? If so I guess I’ll join a kill team“ Risax asked with a smile hoping he’d at least added something to the plan that was worthwhile.

Sakura took notice of someone approaching her; a man named Falco. Sakura took his hand and shook it firmly before Falco told her a story about a bet that made him eat rats for some money. Sakura thought of how funny that was, though she didn't laugh. After her hadn had been released, Falco said that he and Sakura have in common and that they should team up. "Very well, I can tell that you're the type who likes to hunt for game." She said and then Falco makes mention of her tail, how he likes it and then going on an embarrassing justification that if he is staring at her, then it's her tail and not her bottom.

Sakura blushed at the thought.

"Oh...is that what you think? I mean, nobody in my clan had ever complimented about it. Is my tail really that mesmerizing to you? Have you ever thought about...touching it? I guess I can let you if it makes you happy, but just so you know; I can be very sensitive there." Sakura offered. Is she really doing it on purpose? Or is she really that curious to see how far Falco can go with that thought. By then, more of the recruits have chosen their teams. Things are being set in motion, just need to wait for the go signal.

S'cuse me? WHAT? Falco thought, his brain doing a quick double-take when the fox girl offered to let him touch her tail. If this were one of the girls back home, he'd jump right in. Because he understood those girls. They lived the same life, walked the same streets, experienced the same things. He knew exactly what they wanted and he knew when he wasn't it. But this fox wasn't like any he'd met before. He was drawn to her because she looked exotic and now he realized that strangeness extended far beyond her appearance. Were they even speaking the same language? Was this a game, a joke? Was she serious?

Falco smiled. A very genuine smile, followed by a small laugh. He hadn't smiled or laughed like that in a long time. And, while he was used to his mouth outrunning his brain, the next words just slipped out without thinking about them at all. And he was glad they did, because if he had hesitated for even a moment, he would probably have said the exact opposite:

"Nah. As tempting as it is --I mean, it's really, really tempting, not gonna lie-- I don't think you want that." He shrugged, trying to hide his disappointment. "And doin' something you don't want wouldn't make me happy," he added in a lower voice, followed by a nervous chuckle. He ran a hand through his hair, under his dark hood. "Besides, it was just a compliment. I, umm, I wasn't tryin' to make you embarassed or get nothin' out of it.... other than that smile and maybe some stew later?" He briefly met her eyes, those strange crimson eyes. "I think your clan raised you well, Sakura. You seem like a nice girl, but not everybody's so nice 'round here, so be careful who you wag that thing at. Some guys got no self control, ya know."

He pointed toward Razul for that last part, making it no secret who he ws talking about.

Afterward, he shifted his attention to the others, who were discussing strategies and teams. As distracting as Sakura was, Falco still managed to catch most of what was being said.

"How about we just get on with it?" he said, to no one in particular. The tree branch he had brought was still tucked under his pack and he decided now would be the best time to pull it out and move toward the door. "Foxy lady and I will be the advance party or whatever. Anybody else who wants to tag along, come on. I don't know about this 'kill party' stuff. I see rat, I hit rat!" he laughed, smacking the thick stick against his palm a few times and enjoying its satisfying weight and heft. "But, I guess, if we get into deep shit --pun unintended-- or come across too many of 'em, we'll run back your way, where Thea and Whats-Her-Name," he nodded to the small hooded girl, "can cover us. Or, if things really go to shit, the old guy and Risax's webs can make sure the little fuckers doesn't get topside. Okay?"

Listening to the words of Falco, she wanted to dispute him in saying she knew other things, but it was partially true. The Knight was a cook of passing means, knew how to prep animals for said cooking and she was taught a good deal by her family and the Church. It was because of these and her own inner drive that she was quick to react to take the lead. She didn't see how that would help here however...

Then Falco had to put the moves on the fox girl and spoke of eating rats alongside her... If they were starving, she could see the need in doing so. But none of them looked to be starving... With this topic briefly taking her mind off of Falco's actions she pondered to mark him as a womanizer that if left to his own devices among the nobility he would likely cause a stir in the least. Suddenly it had dawned on her, that Falco may not even be native to this city, he was just that much of a street rat that she had assumed. The irony of the rat eating rats wasn't lost upon her, causing a snort. Frowning a bit at that and her own error, she looked to Gaius, the girl in the odd clothing and Risax in turn, speaking up after they said their peace.

"As noted, this is a mess of tunnels and there is likely more than one nest.. We will not be able to deal with this problem in full, nor should we. It was noted to be an annual hunt and wiping the rats out altogether may cause problems... We also might be able to do this with three teams if four spreads us out too much.. I'll leave that up to you all to decide."

It was then that the fox stood out a bit, seemingly accepting Falco's advances, which put him in an odd situation, that he then walked out of with an unusual bit of manners. Maybe he wouldn't be that much of a problem afterall... Still she felt a bit like one of the sisters dealing with the village fool. Still here was neither the time nor place for a lecture.

Turning to the strangely dressed girl, Thea gives a nod. "Very well, I shall take her with me, though I rather a name than just calling you girl." She says of the pale skinned one. "Otherwise, I think we have a passable plan now, we just need to get the numbers, I could just grab one more and set off if there are no volunteers."

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Tylsen Guild Hall

Unfortunately, with a few more warnings not to underestimate the rodents, they were off. Not before one of the girls mentioned that their culture ate the disgusting things, which made Lucia internally cringe at the thought. Though somewhat spoiled, she liked to think she could stomach many things other blue-bloods would completely turn their nose up at. Eating rats was not one of them.

At the time of meeting at the clocktower, Lucia was prompt, yet displeased. Listening with arms folded and an expression that showed she wasn't all that excited about this particular quest, even if it was something she felt was below her, she'd make sure it was done. Everyone had to climb the ladder here, and in a way, that was good. It meant otherwise, people had equal footing. There wasn't any scorn or prejudice that Lucia couldn't help.

Her expression, however, only soured as they travelled further. At the mention of the lower level, Lucia almost couldn't hold herself back from a revolted objection.

Their mentor seemed worried as well, despite her statements. Though Lucia continued to question exactly why. Everyone spouted warnings of underestimating the rats. However, they were but rodents. Truly, the labyrinthian nature of the sewer system was more of a threat. Even their strategies equated the vermin to bandits almost or an enemy force. Then there was rat stew...

Lucia restrained a shudder coming from within.

"Unfortunately, it did not sound as though we have the opportunity to lay traps. From how they spoke of this quest, it sounded as if they wanted us to deal with the problem forthwith, so time is not on our side. Otherwise, I would be more than fond of aiding in trapping the catacombs and leaving," Lucia commented in response to Gaius' plan.

Glancing at Falco and Sakura, Lucia deadpanned a bit at their back-and-forth. Courting, flirting—Whatever it was, Lucia wasn't sure she wanted to be stuck in the middle of it. "I'd rather take part in the kill-team, myself. However, I'll partake in whichever deployment is more in need."

Cressey
Current Location:

Cressey was no stranger to towers, steeples and spires.
As a matter of fact, in her youth, she had quite a fondness for them, climbing to their tops to gaze out on the vast, verdant fields of her home.
At times, it was the closest she could get to feeling some form of freedom, when things just got a bit too...suffocating.
The tower that stood before her now, however, promised no such reprieve, and quite frankly challenged everything she thought she knew about the things.
It's body, a combination of ancient, weathered stone, and new, alien technology, seemed almost as if it were alive, always moving, groaning, hissing, shifting.
The constant hum from the machinery reverberated constantly throughout Cressey's entire being, only fading away as she descended deeper down the spire's throat, down into the earth where the sewers, and her first task awaited.
Like the others, she was well prepared for the work ahead. She had elected to leave most of her possessions in the care of the guild (albeit, hesitantly so, after some prior experiences).
Only two of her belongings would be necessary for what lie ahead of her; her spear, naturally went with her, as it always did since she first began her journey. It would no doubt be useful for the task ahead.
The other, a tiny cloth satchel of potpourris, kept hidden within the folds of her scarf.
All she had to do was bring her scarf up to her nose, take a deep breath, and the sharp, sweet scents of primrose and Valgemian Lancemint would awaken her senses, dashing away the foul, sordid miasma emanating from the gloomy, dark tunnel before her.
"Hmm..." Cressey pensively hummed, staring into the dank abyss that stood before her with knitted brows as she listened to the plan laid out by armor-clad knightess.
"I can't say I have complete faith in your plan, Knight," she suddenly interjected, craning her neck to look the comparatively tall woman in the eye.
"If these sewer systems are anything like the streets above us, then they must be a veritable labyrinth," she explained turning once more towards the tunnel. The small, glowing torches hung upon the walls provided a small, feeble source of light, but their glow only travelled so far, before the dark took hold once again, leaving the tunnel's end an unfathomable black void.
"What's more, our quarry will be much more familiar with the layout of these tunnels, and I have no doubt that they'll have access to plenty of small burrows to escape through."
"In short..."
Cressey sighed, concluding her thoughts with a dismissive wave of her hand,
"Trying to pin them down would be a waste of time and I would prefer to strike at the heart of the matter; namely finding out why these rats have been able to fester here so freely."

"However..."
Cressey continued, taking another deep, thoughtful breath into her scarf.
"We may as well see to the rats as well, while we're down here, there's no harm in it, after all."
Her attention than turned towards the large, arachnid beastkin to her side,
"Risax, was it?" she asked, his conversation with that older initiate having given her some small inspiration.
"How much of that thread do you have with you? If we could ration it amongst those interested in pest control, we can use it to plug up the holes to the rats' burrows. Setting it alight will force them to flee the safety of their nests to avoid the smoke, then you can deal with them out in the open as you please."
It was an old stratagem she had heard before, some time long ago.
Though, it felt passing strange to find some use in it now; if she recalled correctly, it was a tactic used for dealing with things that were far larger and far more...cognizant than some mere pests.

Listening to the words of Cressey, Thea gives an agitated shrug and exhales. "Your suggestions has some merit I'll admit, maybe more than my own, but time is of the essence. We should likely go with three teams. The rats do not concern me, what does is the potential something else is down here. Or maybe there is nothing, and the last purge did little. However I do wish to be on the move, If we worry about phantoms and what if's, we shall never be able to do our charge. For now, that is killing the beasts, though we should not ignore the chance to solve the issue should it show. In that regards my own rigid design could cost more time than leaving the teams a bit flexible, provided our long-legged friend can provide that much silk."

"So in that regards I would be alright with your plan but I do wish to get moving. I'll leave the webbing to one of mine."

With that said, Thea did at least seem reasonable if not somewhat annoyed with the inaction, it was then that her jaw twitched as she looked at all the rest. "Ah.. On that note, the Lady did mention the part of introductions. I am Thea Schuerer, some also call me Zwei, for obvious reasons." She says jerking a thumb to the blade on her back. "It hardly does us well if we do not know one another, even for something like this."

Those words said she overlooks the rest, so far minus a few of them she had no clue about them at all, never mind their names, and the first introductions some of them gave were hardly flattering. "I'll take who I said and..." With that her eyes fell on the Caskarieth, "Mayhap you er?"

Gaius Karlings Kampfer
Location: Tylsen Clocktower - Underground.

Gaius, let out a short sigh when Risax shot down the plan but when he produced the peaceable nets he perked back up, "Those will have to do then" he said as he took the first of the large nets. The others began to once again take roles, Thea specifically seemed to be growing impatient as she began giving more orders or rather suggestions. The short blonde one also perked up with a suggestion, a good one too as long far as Gaius is concerned. Even Thea approved of the blonde one's plan to have each team carry some of the netting "Alright then, Each team can carry a pair of Nets to block off whatever they need. I will take a third team, we'll move ahead of the kill teams and block any burrows we find." Gaius looked to the rest of the group before speaking again. "I'll take Risax so we can produce nets on the go, anyone else volunteer?"

As Gaius finished Thea perked up again, reintroducing herself to those who weren't present during her arrival back at the Guild Hall and it occurred to Gaius he only knew some of the people here. He heard Thea introduce herself to Vivienne and Falco, he heard Falco fumble his introduction to Thea, he heard the whole exchange with Razul and troupe, he even heard Lucia and Thal introduce themselves. The rest weren't known to him yet nor he them. "Right, half of us haven't introduced ourselves to one another, I am Gaius Kampfer to those who weren't there for my introduction." Gaius gave a slight nod to everyone as he introduced himself. "Pleasure to make your acquaintances"

Scene 6: The Hand She Was Dealt
Synopsis:
Razul Dazzle is thrust into the sewer system with the rest of his team with the job of eliminating the rat problem. However, Falco stirs up trouble by getting closer to one of the women, and it falls to Razul to put an end to his inappropriate behavior. There is an overarching concern to how well this team can get along, and the road ahead looks bumpy, but if Razul has ever learned anything in life, it's knowing that there is always something past the bumps.

For once, ✨Razul Dazzle✨ was quiet. Thea took charge as the first matter of business, and though he wished to interject, she was doing a fine job already, albeit facing a few stragglers here and there. It was very admirable; he made a note to compliment her on that end for later. Another note, too, to check if everybody was alright after today's quest. The protagonist's train of thought, however, fell apart after eavesdropping on the eye-rolling conversation between two notable teammates.

By the sound of it, Falco was after two things in Sakura: her physical traits and her cooking ability. Goodness, I suppose these types of people aren't limited to home... First the insults to his fan girls, and now these atrociously horrid, mortifying, shameless lines? Then he had the guts to imply that ✨Razul Dazzle✨ was overbearing to the ladies? The hero gave his patience at the guild hall, but this scene ticked off very undesirable memories. "I never pegged you as one, but you are certainly an easy glove, aren't you, Falco? You go on and off at pleasure! Your cringeworthy chastity reeks and breeds mites, much like a cheese." Razul gave a short exhale, like an expert of a matter witnessing an amateur's attempts to follow suit. Only disappointment beheld his gaze, as though Falco had quickly become one of the most repulsive beings on the world. "Where is your respect? Where is your dignity as a man?"

Razul then looked to the fox girl, certain that Falco had dealt whatever uncomfortable card he had up his sleeve onto her. Razul gave a polite bow. "However, Sakura—I believe that was your name—there is one thing that he got right. Some men have no control. They go sniffing around with their two-inch peckers and play up a big game to get on your side, then leave when they're tired or if you fail to live up to their selfish expectations." The words seemed to flow directly from Razul's heart, oddly enough. A fact he realized a few seconds after he finished, marked by the hard-to-notice short widening of his eyes.

"As for the mission on hand..." Razul whipped around, having his cape make a billowing sound as he did so. Already, he was back to his usual self. "I'll volunteer to stick around Falco; make sure he doesn't do anything uncouth. Besides, I'm always up for cutting through violent vermin." His hand dropped to his hilt, popping the shining sword just slightly out from its sheathe.

"And if some of you missed my introduction..." The hero performed a much more theatrical bow, making sure to accentuate the 'ornaments' of his. "Razul Dazzle, at everyone's service. Ready for the world!"

It appeared she was directly spoken to. "You talking to me?" the small Beastfolk asked the tall lady knight. She thought about it for a moment, pausing briefly. Then she removed her hood exposing a head of white hair. Her mask stayed firmly in place, however.

"I am Hysydice Maliss," she calmly introduced. "You'll find I am not a difficult worker, but a diligent one. You will favor my aid after we work together on this mission. I am more than ready to exterminate the rats. Though keep a look out for nice, plump, healthy ones. Those will be without disease -- and are the ones worth cooking. Oh, and make sure you kill those cleanly, as opposed to mashing them to bits. That way I can gather them later for 'rat stew'," she announced, eyes flicking over to the pair who mentioned it before, a smirk playing on her lips beneath the mask.

At the same time, in close proximity, it appeared Falco was getting reprimanded by the prissy boy for some of his uncouth, inappropriate, and oddly pathetic behavior. The exchange between the guy and the fox woman was none of Hyss' concern, but it was hard not to notice, as it was pretty blatant in their midst. When Razul began speaking, the Lamia grabbed her hood and turned away, shielding her face, a redness creeping up on her cheeks. Yep, that dialogue was none of her business.

However, she did notice how he boasted, then tapped his sword. Turning back to him she commented. "Are you sure? That looks more like a collector's item for some rich noble, rather than an actual weapon. You sure you want to befoul your trinket with rat's blood?"

Sakuranbo Suzui

Falco seemed to have refused Sakura's very tempting offer. She tilted her head in confusion, not understanding his refusal. "I do not understand, but perhaps I may have gotten way too far to satisfy you, or maybe I have indeed embarrassed you in front of our companions. I apologize." She spoke humbly before Falco mentioned how her clan raised her well and that she should be careful about her tail attracting some men who might get out of control because of it. Sakura was very confused by that statement. The man that Falco pointed out, Razul, approached the two, seemingly insulted by what Falco had gestured and talked him down, asking if he has any shame or dignity in his words.

He turns to Sakura and the first thing she will notice about Razul is how much sparkles he have in his aura, or maybe she is just seeing things because the moment she looked at his face, she is already smitten by his handsomeness. "Are humans really that obsessed with my tail? Do you guys think that I'm...attractive?" Sakura had asked before she shifted her focus on the mission, and it seems that Razul has decided to join them in driving the vermin to the kill teams...but not before striking rather fabulous introduction. Her reaction?

"Razul? Are you always this weird?"

There where a lot of questions about risax’s ability to produce webbing and equal measures on how to most effectively use the Arachne’s unique physiology to assist them and questions about the validity of the idea to begin with. Risax let the others speak having said his peace on the matter questions directed towards him about how much webbing he could produce and that it could be used blocking the rats bolt holes And escape routs. “Firstly I have a lot I… Brought way to much to be honest so yeah“ Risax answered the knightly looking girl first pulling out further bundles of white fabric. Gaius saying he’d take Risax and a team ahead to block off any escape routes for the rats ”oh ok sure we should definitely have enough to get that plan working right anyway no more dawdling longer we wait here the longer it’s gonna take for us to get our arcanizers” Risax said Hoping that would encourage people to actually finally organise themselves, one of Risax legs tapping the ground a bit impatiently now.

Plans and schemes continued to be tossed around. Time marched on. For a moment, Falco began to feel the stigma of whatever had transpired between him and the fox girl was behind them. Like a tail, hehe. The diminutive spear-wielder who had made a bit of a scene at the guild hall suggested scouting the sewers and searching for the nest, which was kind of what Falco had in mind. While he didn't consider himself an expert in sewer spelunking, he had done this before, porbably had more experience than any of them, and found it, ummm... not 'enjoyable' per se, but 'less disgusting' than the others probably did.

Damn, I wish I had just came out and said that, he thought, feeling a missed opportunity to let his virtues shine, instead of his vices. He was about to speak up when Razul approached again. He had been doing a fine job of ignoring the boy since their encounter at the guild hall, but it seems they were inseparable. Fuuuuck, here we go again, Falco thought with an audible sigh. His shoulders sank and his posture relaxed as the Golden Boy pranced toward them and began his lecture. But, as the words went on, Falco began to noticeably perk up. He didn't seem angry or even excited, but... understanding. Especially when the boy delivered what was perhaps the only genuine rebuke to exit his mouth all day.

Aye, struck a nerve, did we? Falco thought.

He listened calmly, with one hand rhythmically thumbing his chin. "Yeah, he's always this weird. And I think I finally know why," Falco said in response to Sakura's (second) question, when Razul's stream of nonsense finally ceased.

"Ya know, I been wondering what it is about you that pisses me off so much and I think I get it now. You... you're fake. You're just so damn fake. I was half-right when I said you're an actor," he said, waving his fingers at the boy as if sprinkling magic dust upon this vacuous apparition standing before them. "No one's buying this thing you're doing, so cut it out, man. You talk about respectin' women, when you've got three of 'em following you 'round, making fools of themselves? Hand-feeding you cookies? Polishing your stuff? Fixing the shit you broke? You ain't no knight in shining armor, pal. There's only one knight here and she ain't gotta wear a fucking codpiece on her head, you phony."

"But, I mean, you ain't totally wrong,"
Falco added with a calm shrug of surrender. "I'm a teenage boy! I like girls! What do ya want me to do, my taxes!? But at least I'm honest about it. I'm real. A real asshole, sometimes, yeah, but I'm real, and you don't know what I been through. I came here to make a man of myself, so I don't wanna hear no noise from a useless boy pretending to be one. Watch me and you might learn a thing or two."

Having said his piece, Falco suddenly turned toward the sewer entrance and spoke incredibly fast, his words blurring together even more than their usual rapid cadence. He went full street rat: "Yo, we got work to do! Thea, g'luck, catch ya topside. And, you, Hyssma-whatever... Black Hood. Yeah, you. I'll try to bag a live one, no promises, 'kay. And you, Short Stuff," he snapped his fingers at the tiny blonde spear girl, who definitely didn't seem to like that, but Falco didn't seem to care: Yeah, you. C'mon. We're goin' after the nest or nests or whatever. You seem like a go-getter, so let's go git'r dun, hun," he said, gesturing for her, Sakura, and --sigh-- even Razul, to follow him. "Drinks on me when we win. 'Cept Razul. He gets water."

As the deliberations continued, much to the displeasure of the Caskarieth noble, Lucia glanced towards the way forward with minor disgust. She stared a moment until Thea gestured to her.

"Lucia Corinna Edelgarde," She replied, shooting a look over at the love triangle shamelessly founding on one of the other teams. "Please. I would be more than appreciative to proceed."

Another to join their team was the silent girl who was also wanting to cook the rodents. Revolting. What was wrong with the lot of them?

"...A pleasure... Though it would be more so outside of such a place." Stepping closer to Thea's team, she turned to the rest of the group and performed a slight curtsy. "I look forward to making your acquaintances in an environment more pleasant... Shall we?" She proposed, turning back to Thea and the others with the last part. Were they in a more pleasant environment, the exchange between the boys might've been more amusing. Currently, however, it was just causing them all to persist in this horrid place.

Watching events unfold, Gaius seemed to have decided on focusing on trapping, and asked if anyone else wanted to help with that. "I'll take a few nets and let one of the others on my team deal with that side of things..."

Before she could finish, Razul opened up on Falco, saying a great many things that would ending in a tavern brawl. "Hold on a..." The length of his penis remark was then to rise up as Thea runs her right palm over her face continuing to stand by during the golden boy's tirade, firing shots across the bow as he then even flirted a little with the beastfolk.

It was then that the shrouded girl got her attention, asking if she were speaking to her. With a nod of her head, Thea listens to the other and makes note of her hair and manner of speech, her S's had a hard roll to them, akin to a snake or lizard. With that prompt she stares with some focus on the skin of the other as she gives her own introduction. "Hysssydice.. Er, I think I'll call you Hyss if that is fine? Also I will be entrusting you with the nets our team takes, I shall set them on fire when and where needed. As to your request... We'll see what we can do." She says with a bit of a raised eyebrow at the detailed explanation given with it.

"I don't plan to smash the rats with my fist or dice them up like some legend of the undead. So I'm sure they'll be intact enough for your... needs."

It was then that she turned her attention back to Falco that was, honestly not what she expected. He didn't seem angry or to care all that much about the antics of Razul, she was sure he was going to deck him and by the Goddess he had all the reason he needed to do so. Going on his own rebuttal she was not so sure that Razul was a fake, or at least in his own mind, and though she agreed with Falco's remarks on the three girls and the subservience they displayed, there had to be a reason for it.

Or they were just mad. Snorting a bit at the cod piece helmet remark, Thea did not speak up about it, though this did prove somewhat enlightening about the boy's motives in being here. Someone with a little less drive would have been content living the way they had and sooner or later ending up in the gaols to rot away or come the hangman's noose. The Knight could respect this out of the Rouge. He then did what she had wanted all along. Though it would break up the introductions, no matter, that could be done later.

"Ha. Good hunting to you as well, save any fights with one another when we are back on the surface." She calls out to Falco, before shifting her head to the next person to speak to her.

Nodding at Lucia and hearing her words, she was for sure some sort of a noble or well to do.. Which made her wonder why had she come here? "Well met, I would like to speak to you more when this is over, and I do agree the sooner we are out of here the better."

Waiting for Hyss to get some of the spider silk, Thea sets off down the tunnel at once, picking the first breakaway to the right of the central chamber, her lantern lighting the way alongside the dim orange magitech lights. This course of action made the final team to be led by Gaius or Rixas with all the rest tied to them. Drawing her sword with one hand she holds it more like a pole arm for the close quarters fighting.

A couple of plans were thrown out— most of them were general enough to be flexible when shit hits the fan like it always does in hunts. They all eventually settled for the original plan with additional spider silk to plug up any holes the varmints used to scamper around that were small enough to restrict their own access. For a moment, Thal wondered how long they were going to be in the sewers. They did say that time was of the essence, but considering the size of the sewers itself, it was likely that they'd spend quite a bit of time down there. Well, he wasn't complaining. He could get to know the others in the meantime too, even if they were all going to split into multiple teams.

Most of them had volunteered for kill teams. When Gaius, he soon learned his name was, piped up if anyone else wanted to join him and Risax, Thal raised his hand. "You seem short-staffed. Might as well." He called out. He didn't mind whichever team he had to fill in for. Every team had their uses and their teamwork, even away from each other, was imperative for this quest... even though it sounded tedious and might end up with them tripping over their own two feet trying to chase down a couple of rats.

A slight commotion between Falco, Razul, and Sakura. It was odd to listen to, though it did sound like they did mean well by trying to teach the out-of-touch fox about the dangers of letting others pet her tail or what have you. Though it seemed more as Falco and Razul badmouthing each other, but whatever works as a lesson, he supposed. Even with the tensions between the two of them, Falco seemed to relent in working with him. A good sport really.

The others began to descend into the sewer once they had received their spider silk from Risax which indicated the start of the quest. "Take care and good hunting everyone." He called out after them. He doubted that rats could give them too much trouble but, hey, it never hurt to be careful. He turned towards Gaius and Risax, nodding at them both. "S'pose we should get going as well?" He turned his gaze at Gaius at that remark, considering him the pseudo-leader of the group considering he was holding the rock. The rock that, hopefully, would go unused until the end of their quest. As much as he would just be happy to finish said quest no matter the prize, it was tempting to find out what the extra reward would be.

Cressey
Current Location: Sewers

"Cressey," the young adventurer tersely replied, and that would be all she would be willing to say on that matter, lest anyone takes any more interest in her.
She was caught somewhat off guard by the knight's impromptu request for introductions; Had she really been in such a rush to get to her grand life of adventuring, that she had forgotten to confer any of her new companions so much as her name?
A rather embarrassing lapse in basic manners, on her part.
"And I'm glad to see that we are all in accord," she added, grateful to shift the conversation back towards the task at hand.
Hearing several of the others nod in approval of her plan was quite a delicious boon, and she couldn't help but draw a small, cocksure smirk at her own strategic genius.
...Until Falco decided to open his mouth.

She had only understood half of the silver-haired, silver-tongued boy's rapid chattering; she grew weary of his presence once he began awkwardly pitching woo at that lavender beastkin, or bickering with that gleaming, oafish "nobleman."
By the time he began enthusiastically exchanging recipes for rat soup with a few of the others, she forced herself to tune out his voice, lest it make her ill.
However, once he snapped his fingers at her, she was forced to once again continue acknowledging his existence, crudely inviting her to join him in his party.
Her face twisted into a wroth grimace at the way he addressed her, and her first instinct told her to reject him outright, and take her chances venturing the sewers alone.
The more reasonable parts of her mind bid her to reconsider; he did seem to have some knowledge of this town, after all, perhaps more than anyone else amongst the group, and his confidence did suggest that he had some cards he was keeping close to his chest.
"Hmph! Fine, I suppose I've not much choice," she replied, albeit begrudgingly, marching alongside with the silver-haired boy, and those others he had invited to join him.
However, she quickly rushed past Falco and the others, abruptly stopping once she was ahead of the pack, looking towards the yawning tunnel.
A flash of blue, the hideous hissing sound of metal scraping against leather rang out in the cavern, as she suddenly drew her lance, and then, with a whorling flourish, thrust it's point towards the party, juxtaposing it into the empty air that sat between Falco and Razul.
"...But mark me..." she growled at the two men, her face a dark, tempestuous pout.
"...If you speak any more of feeding on rats, bicker, or otherwise cause me any other annoyance..."
Her lance drifted closer towards the silver-haired boy, hovering an inch from his ear, "...I will use that long, flowing hair of yours in place of Risax's webbing..."
Her lance than drifted towards Razul, tapping lightly against his crown, as she barked,"...And I will have you check the walls for rats with your empty head!"
Having made her point, Cressey draws her spear back, and turns once more towards the tunnel.
"Now, let us be off!" she ordered, pulling her scarf up to her nose once more.
"...before the air in this infernal cavern begins to cling to us!"
