Aftermath
with everything finally over and done with and everyone out of those sewers their first misadventure finding everyone a bit shank at least for how Risax viewed it. Now they found themselves all back in the guildhall. Standing before Cephilia. Whom imparted some important wisdom and some appreciation. Risax smiling softly and nodding. Once he’d been given his own arcanizer the beast-folk was inclined to examine it carefully and delicately like one would do when presented with an object of dubious value for trade. “Wow.. this is.. amazing“ he’d mutter softly. His attention quickly returned to the two veteran speaking of payment for there job. there where certainly a lot of good options here, considering the sewer Adventure they had dealt with Risax had a fairly good idea of what he needed to actual work on. “Thank you for the offering of training then I’ll be sure to get there on time.” He added with a respectful bow before taking his leave of the situation.

The next day
it had been a day since their first introductory mission and Risax had taken full advantage of the services offered as part of their rewards. mostly defensively minded in what he wanted to achieve, Risax simply felt lucky that he managed to escape with minimal injuries but wished to improve his odd‘s after all a Ballista bolt to the chest was fairly convincing in terms of offensive capabilities. His own Arcanizer left in the form of a fancy looking pocket watch as it made him feel more important. Spending a fair bit of time learning from both Cephillia and Vivian respectively. Form one how to produce a barrier with the use of his Arcanizer and form the other how to more effectively use his longsword. Overall time and effort well spent.

Today
the busy natura of the guild hall today was of no surprise to Risax in fact he felt more at home amongst the chatter and crowded area despite his bulk, skittering through the crowds of people the beast-folk his way over to the quest board excited to see what was on offer for his first outing as a proper Kriegslöwen.
”morning Thal“ he’d pipe up waving towards the kind-hearted Ovil-ken. Seeing as aside from them Risax only really spoke with Gaius for any Length Of time and he’d not spotted the man just yet. Tho they’d walked off anyway so it was back to looking over everyone's shoulders so to speak and what quests were available.

"Falco, while pain may be good for growth, if you are worn down like a horse, you will be unable to do something when you are needed," Thea said.

He wasn't sure if it was her tone or her stature, but every time she addressed him, Falco was reminded that he did not have an older sister... nor did he want one. As Thea gazed down upon him, he stared back up at her, with equal vacancy, neither offended nor moved by her words. In her own way, these little sermons showed she cared and that is what truly mattered to him. Perhaps, in time, that caring would take the form of a warm hug or a smile or a kind word. Until then, this would suffice.

"Even if thy manner of speech is the most peculiar. It is possible to sharpen a blade too much, to grind away the edge," the knight concluded. "As to work, hmm.."

Thea went on to explain two jobs she found promising. One involved herding sheep to market, and the other, delivering componentry around town. Falco saw no issue with either option. He had done plenty of 'fetch this, deliver that' gigs in his lifetime and felt confident he could get the gears where they needed to go. But he had virtually no experience dealing with livestock. Working with the sheep intrigued him, because it was new and different, but he worried he might screw it up in front of these two.

The white-haired boy finally stood and studied the quest board himself, to get a more detailed assessment of what was being asked of them.

"I could also just find a single job set for me and Lucia and grab you something random," Thea said, while Falco was still weighing his choices. He abruptly turned to her, in mild shock and horror. "Depends on what you all wish."

At the mere mention of being separated from them, Falco nearly balked in protest. Fortunately, Lucia spoke up first, stating she would be okay with either option... which, to Falco, meant she didn't mind working with him... which, to Falco, meant she wanted him around and couldn't bear going another moment without him. He had noticed the Caskarieth smirk when he arrived in their midst. Not only did she fail to dismiss him outright, she appeared to find him amusing. That's how it starts, kek.

As she rubbed her chin in contemplation, he spied Thea's arcanizer, peeking out from beneath the plate steel of her gauntlet. This brought a small wave of relief to Falco, visibly so. He had been in and around the Church long enough to know how some of its more rigid members felt about these devices and was glad to see Thea chose to cherish it. Not only did she keep it, she integrated it into her armor, which suggested it was there to stay. She could have shoved it in her pocket or clipped it to her belt and it would function all the same. Perhaps he had the wrong idea about her...

This thought made him suddenly --and acutely-- aware that Sakura was present, though not in their immediate vicinity. Maybe I can try to...I mean, maybe I can ask... no, Falco, don't be stupid. One step at a time, dude. His shoulders sagged marginally. Accepting an arcanizer and accepting a heretic cannibal were two very different things. He wasn't even sure why he felt to strongly about reconciling the two girls. Maybe he wanted to do it because it's impossible.

The sound of Lucia's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Under most circumstances, the curvy Caskarieth would have had his undivided attention, especially at such close range. Presently, it took him a moment to properly focus on her.

"But ah, yes... That is a concern. Much as I'm sure it would be enjoyed, we cannot carry you the way in case of collapse," Lucia said. Her teasing remark returned the mirth and mischief to his otherwise weary features, injecting him with renewed vigor. "What placed you in this dilapidated form?"

"Dilapidated?'" Falco said, slicking back his flowing white hair. "Milady, count yourself fortunate, for were I in peak form, you could scarcely gaze upon me without growing weak in the knees," his brows wriggled suggestively, "and damp in the nethers. And then it would be I who carries you."

Falco swiftly dropped the act, lest they think he was a Razul-in-the-making. "Nah, just training," he confessed, "And you should see the other guy! Or should I say, 'other horse... cow... deer?' Whatever Viv is," he concluded with a vague and dismissive wave of his hand before turning to the taller girl. "And fret not, dearest Thea, I've plenty left to give. Despite what some may think, I'm no stranger to a hard day's work. This is nothing. Actually..." he considered for a moemnt, "I quite like it. For once in my life, I feel like I'm getting somewhere."

He wagged a finger at them both. "I wasn't fuckin' around when I said I'm here to make something of myself. This is the new me now. Just you wait! But, umm, you're kinda right, too. It ain't gonna happen in a day, so maybe I ought to pace myself and make time for the, uh..." he grinned at Lucy, "finer things in life, heh. Waddya say we take it slow, maybe count some sheep?" he said to them both, nodding to the quest board, indicating which one he'd like to start with.

Listening to the pair, Thea scoffs a bit at Lucia's mention of them not being paid at all originally. "Aye, and we were played as fools for that one too. We didn't even have to do it at all, which honestly considering my own expenses in that operation I don't mind the coin, though the concept of picking one's work is a bit odd to me. Either way I still have ideals I would like to uphold with my work." Then the conversation carried on to how Dilapidated Falco was or was not, leading to the boy making the sort of claims that would make a true Lady blush.

Thea for her part exhaled a sigh and hooked her thumbs into her belt as her hands rested on her hips. "I'll leave the weak kneeing and other things to Lucia if she so desires..." He then brought up training with Viv and questioning what she was to which Thea chimes in; "A centaur technically."

As he went on about turning a new leaf and hard work which brought a smile to her face, a bemused one as if knowing something he did not. "I can tell both of you City dwellers that the Sheep won't be as easy as you think. I assume he or she will shepherd the herd, but there is always a stray or two, or more. We may have to carry them, or a damned wild dog or wolf or even a blasted hawk can try and pick off the stragglers, looking for an easy meal. Ideally nothing happens and we are just hired muscle making sure all the sheep get to town while we do very little. And while I know as little about the city as you two do the country, I can say the delivery mission should be largely uneventful aside from seeing the city. However, given they are asking for adventurers to do it rather than porters may mean the gears are either very important or heavy, if not both."

With that Thea removes her right hand from her side and belt and reaches out for the quest list. "A bit of the Countryside could do us some good however, nice fresh air, very little noise and at least in either case it isn't crawling through tunnels and worrying about filthy water." With that she grabs the page for the shepherd escort job and looks at the two.

"I would take both jobs, but I'm fairly sure the guild only allows collecting of one at a given time. Seems this one will be a light walk into the countryside for a couple hours and back. You two had anything else to do or are we good to go?"

Gaius Karlings Kampfer

Debriefing
Location: Road to Tylsen, Tylsen Marketplace, Tylsen Guild Hall.
Interactions: None
Gaius had waited in the cavern next to the Brigand's campfire as the other one by one left to join Cephilia until all that was left was Vivienne's group. A few minutes passed before Gaius was joined by Falco and the two sat in silence until Vivienne and the others emerged from the Sewer entrance then rejoined Cephilia's group on the surface. On the road home Gaius took up the rear guard far from the hushed conversation of Cephilia and Vivienne. As much as Gaius wanted to listen in on the only conversation on the journey home he did not break from his position.

Before too long the group had entered the City and made their way back through the Market District to the Guild Hall; a few looks were given toward the group as the came into close contact with people and the combined stench reached the citizens but other than that no one really paid any mind to the adventures or their prisoners. Upon returning to the Guild Hall it was worth noting that it was just as empty as it was when they left with Arien behind the reception desk, however there was a new face here. A Beastfolk with the features of a cat was snoozing on a bench next to the box that Cephilia had brought containing the recruits Arcanizers.

Cephilia commanded the woman to bring her the box then began a speech, first thanking the group for accepting her quest and "Putting up with her Bullshit" then went on to explain how she had made the Arcanizers and their personalization's for each of the new recruits, how these fancy trinkets served as the recruits badge of office and the conduit for which they can cast spells. As she explained Cephilia laid out each Arcanizer for the party to collect as she continued on to the subject of payment.

As Gaius listened he collected his Arcanizer alongside the others and began turning it over in his hand. As the others were captivated by Cephilia, Gaius retreated to the rear of the group and began to inspect his Arcanizer. The overall shape of the Arcanizer was that of a pocket watch complete with a clock on the front face, along the side there was a latch that allowed the trinket to be opened displaying the Zauberite slots and the mechanical workings for the watch. It was inside this small compartment that a small personalization was made for Gaius, a crest was etched into the lid of the compartment; a Coat of Arms with a front facing Lion's head and the Family name Karlings written on a scroll that was held in the Lion's jaws. This was the Karlings Family's crest and the only thing Gaius had to remind him of that, as soon as Gaius saw the crest he squeezed the compartment shut looking around to ensure no one saw it. When he was satisfied he turned his attention back to Cephilia and made his decision to take the fifty Feln and take some time to train with Vivienne.

Gaius did not join the tour of the Guild's facilities as he had already given himself the tour in the few days leading up to today instead he excused himself from the rest of the group to hit the Baths and find an armor smith to repair his broken scales. Somewhere between the two he caught Cephilia for his monetary reward so that he could pay for said repairs.

The Day of Rest
Location: Tylsen Guild Hall,
Interaction: AnonyMouse AnonyMouse Rena/Vivienne

Gaius woke early in the morning on his day of rest, once again he had been lucky to not share a room with anyone so he went about his morning rituals unimpeded. Without much to do that day beside train with Vivienne and retrieve his repair armor Gaius spent his morning wandering the guild until he found the Cat Beastfolk from the day before, up to her neck in work placed upon her by Cephilia. With nothing better to do that morning Gaius lent the woman his aid doing the various tasks given to her that morning.

At Noon Gaius bid Rena farewell and joined Vivienne in the training field where he trained to hone his Riposte skill against Polearms, his training session came to a close as the others training also required her personal attention. With a quick thank you Gaius left Vivienne to her other pupils for the day and returned to the Guild Hall where he once again found Rena head over heels in work. As the two worked Gaius learned what Rena was really doing, Cephilia had tasked her with double checking the whole library to make sure nothing else was stolen. The Guild's Library was quite large and was taking Rena longer then she had thought to sort through everything so when Gaius offered aid she couldn't help but accept.

With a healthy pace the two made a good bit of progress during the rest of the afternoon, clearing a large portion of the work that Rena had set aside to go through over the course of the day. Gaius had been working so diligently that he barely noticed how much time had passed and by the time he stopped the Guild Hall's night lights had turned on. Shortly thereafter Falco popped in and pestered Rena for a Pen and some paper which reminded Gaius that he too had to write a report on the incident in the sewers yesterday; so he gathered a pen and some paper from one of the storerooms he and Rena had gone through earlier and wrote up his action report.

The Report
"During the day of our Orientation the other recruits and I were dispatched on an extermination mission to clear Tylsen's sewers of it's rat infestation and to find out why they were moving around so much. When we entered the sewers with Lady Yvarra there was a debate on how to best deal with the creatures and we settled on the formation of two kill teams and a trap team. I was the leader of the Trapping team along with Risax Baromomath and Thalgrukh Stormbreaker. My team and I moved parallel to Lady Schuerer's team blocking tunnels and pipes as we went to deny the rats their escape routes, this plan went extremely well however we eventually encountered trained hounds. Baromomath deduced that the hounds were what was causing the rats to surface so often while Thal and I figured that the hounds had to belong to someone who wasn't supposed to be in the sewers. Our suspicions were confirmed when after our encounter with hound The Clockwork Witch arrived in the Sewers to inform us that the map of the sewers was stolen from the Guild Library and the she suspected foul play. Then Lady Valdergeuse lead us to regroup with the other teams. There we learned that Team Cauphix had an encounter with a Brigand and were pretty banged up, one of their number being heavily wounded. From there after administering first aid to the wounded the group moved on and we engaged a group of brigands who had occupied the Cavern entrance to the Sewers. Of the six of them there we captured five of them thanks to everyone else's efforts, the last was slain by me. It was made clear that during our fight the suspect wasn't going to surrender so after an opening was made I ended his life. As a Side note after everything was said and done some drama occurred among us recruits, I will omit the details from this report as Lady Valdergeuse will be dealing with this drama over the coming days."

After writing his report last night Gaius excused himself from the Library and made for the shop with his armor and collected his freshly cleaned and repaired scale mail. As he walked back to the Guild Hall night fell on Tylsen, after a quick stop at a food stand near the guild Hall Gaius retired to his room for the night. Once again he found that he had no room mate present however the other bunks all laid disturbed indicating that some one had stayed in the room during the day. After completing his nightly rituals Gaius tucked away into bed for the night.

A knock at the door woke Gaius before his usual time "Mr. Kampfer," said a woman's voice "Lady Valdergeuse has instructed us to inform you that your days of rest are done and you are to, get on with work"

Gaius in kind rose from his bed still alone in his room, or at least he thought. At some point in the night a resident had returned and gathered some of there belongings and in return left a clump of black and white fur. As Gaius went about his morning rituals he rolled the fur over in his hand. As Gaius put things together in his head he recalled one of his dismissed retainers Penthesilea, a Beastfolk woman with the features of snow leopard. The people of Castle Karlings called these folk Himalaya. Gaius hadn't seen any other built perhaps there were more Beastfolk that were related to big cats

After spending some time cleaning the fur Gaius emerged from his room into a much busier Guild Hall, instead of cleaning staff a large number of other Kriegslowen were about moving belongings into rooms and chatting with friends and party members. This drastic change caught Gaius off guard as only yesterday he only saw the other recruits, that new guy Morgan who was brought through orientation yesterday and the Guild Staff. Making his way past people Gaius saw a number of other races truly bringing out the Guild's Melting pot policy. As Gaius reached the Main Hall with the job board he spotted Risax and Thal nearly right away as Risax was easily the tallest head in the room as well as the widest, no insult intended.

Descending the stairs Gaius made his way to the Job Board where he spotted Lucia, Thea, and Falco. The latter of them slumped on the wall. As he approached Gaius locked eyes with Falco and offered a head nod and a slight wave before addressing Lucia and Thea "Good Morning ladies anything good up there today?"

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Kriegslowe Guildhouse
Staring down at him, Falco's vulgar response elicited a scoff from the young Caskarieth. Perhaps there was such a thing as too candid. She could hardly imagine such utterances among company typical for her. Certainly, it would have been followed by appalled gasps, silence, and then beratement. Here, however, it was met with mere eye rolls. The only thing keeping her from being so speechless is having heard less than civil verbiage during her visits to her uncle. It was quite a different crowd.

"Verily, I'm sure... Ser Falion, as someone from my roots, I can appreciate your outspoken nature. However, I think you could do with some more linguistic training rather than a regimen with Miss Vivienne," Lucia suggested with folded arms, mocking a thoughtful expression for a few moments before shrugging. "Methinks sticking to praise and compliments would garner better results."

Parting with him that advice, she glanced to Thea, who appeared far less amused by Falco's comments. Choosing to move from the topic of their introductory deceit at the hands of the older Caskarieth, Lucia focused on the topic of jobs. "And you worry too much, my dear. They are but farm animals and knick knacks."

Appearing somewhat smug towards the woman's warnings of difficulty, it was clear Lucia was more than confident in their ability to succeed. "I am prepared, if our suitor has come upon his... oh, sixth wind?" She teased before they were approached by another newcomer.

Turning her gaze toward Gaius, Lucia's confident smile traveled with it, giving a curt nod. "Good day to you as well. Indeed, there are many thrills resting upon it. I worry we will not survive," She said, still poking some fun at Thea's cautious nature.

Nigh imperceptible footsteps atop the shiny wood floors of the hall came to an abrupt stop. Her silvery gaze shifted across the Guildhall to locate the source of the voice that hastily called out to her. Shock made her waver, but she managed to suppress it, no one able to glimpse the minor frustration casting a shadow across the Beastkin's face. It was not so thrilling for one like herself to be called out as such.

The greeting was from none other than the blonde girl roughly her size. Despite her misgivings of having attention drawn her way, Hyss politely gave the smallest, of subtlest nods in her direction. Then she continued on with her own devices.

She padded up to the notice board with those silent footsteps of hers, angling back a bit to peer up at it. But then the hooded girl noticed the crowd around it and her. Fellow recruits, a couple of those faces she had directly worked with on their first mission. The snake girl overheard their discussion involving what choice of job to go on. After some deliberation it appeared they had settled on the one with sheep. With sharp icy eyes glaring from beneath the brim of her hood, she glanced at the boy, Falco. "I mean no offense, I hope you find some merit playing with farm animals, but I cannot." She looked back at the board, and reached up for a paper. "There are more important uses of my time." Her statement was directed at the boy, but could've as easily been for any of them there.

Arien Bermille
Location: Kriegslöwe Guildhall, Tylsen

The constant chatter. The ruffling and shuffling of a myriad of papers. The multitude of footsteps coming from every corner of the hall. These were all but common occurrences in Arien's life at the Kriegsöwe Guild. In fact, it had become too familiar to him that he easily finds such a busy scenery to be quite calming - he could even comfortably fall asleep in the midst of all that was happening within the main hall.

As he sat down on one of the many chairs assembled in the hall, his eyes darted from one sight to the other, never truly gazing at anything or anyone for a prolonged period of time - though to some it may appear as him scanning his surroundings, he had no specific goal within the area to set his eyes on. He was simply taking in the scenery. As the time passed, something eventually caught his attention, or more accurately, his intrigue.

Not far from the reception desk was a large wooden board embedded in the stone walls of the building, and on that board's surface, countless papers were pinned - each with its own varying writing, some even carrying a form of visual aid, such as sketches and scribbles. Though many come and go from this specific section, taking a paper of their choice with them, one specific group of familiar faces became the focus of Arien's gaze - the little gathering of the guild's new recruits.

And thus, he rose from his seat.

"And what, pray tell, would be a better use of your time, Hysydice?", a familiar voice resonated from behind the gathered recruits.

Like a ghost that emerges from beneath the surface, Arien appeared, close by to the group. There was no sound to his movement, no weight in his steps, no presence to his approach - he had arrived within their vicinity like a silent breeze. And now, he stood before them, wearing a smile that was, at its core, neutral - neither a warm greeting akin to Vivianne's nor a proud expression akin to Cephilia's. His gaze darted from one face to the other but inevitably landed on the young beastfolk.

"Is it not your job to do such requests?", he continued. "You are, after all, members of the Kriegslöwe now."

"Verily, I'm sure... Ser Falion, as someone from my roots, I can appreciate your outspoken nature. However, I think you could do with some more linguistic training rather than a regimen with Miss Vivienne," Lucia said. "Methinks sticking to praise and compliments would garner better results."

"Joke's on you. For your information, Viv finds my candor endearing. Most people do," Falco said, basking in his own smugness, as if gaining Viv's approval were some legendary feat. "Besides, you guys waste too many words, with your 'thees' and 'thous' and 'thines.' Funny thing 'bout words: ya don't need the whole thing, if ya know what I mean."

As much as he'd love to do this all day, (and night,) Thea, ever the shepherd herself, interrupted their light banter and refocused them on the task before them with a warning about the dangers of caring for livestock:

"I can tell both of you City dwellers that the Sheep won't be as easy as you think. I assume he or she will shepherd the herd, but there is always a stray or two, or more," she said. "We may have to carry them, or a damned wild dog or wolf or even a blasted hawk can try and pick off the stragglers, looking for an easy meal."

Despite Lucia dismissing Thea's concerns, Falco's eyes widened at the mention of a hawk carrying off a sheep. W-what the hell, man!? This was definitely no mere pigeon or crow. His mind immediately went to his throwing knives, though he doubted that would be enough to fell such an abomination. At least he had the bandit's scale armor now, and had cut and repurposed his old leather armor to better protect other parts of his body. If nothing else, this winged monstrosity wouldn't easy tear him apart with its vicious talons or peck him limb from limb.

"Ideally nothing happens and we are just hired muscle making sure all the sheep get to town while we do very little. And while I know as little about the city as you two do the country, I can say the delivery mission should be largely uneventful aside from seeing the city. However, given they are asking for adventurers to do it rather than porters may mean the gears are either very important or heavy, if not both."

"Well, Legs, though I may be a city boy through and through, you'll find I'm a fast learner," Falco said with a shrug as Thea plucked the quest from the wall. "We got this." Despite his bragging and teasing, he knew his weaknesses and was fully prepared to follow any country bumpkin's lead on this one, without protest or pride. However, he was also always willing to push his limits... sometimes a little too far. I'ma take down that sheep-snatchin' bastard, he thought, still fixated on the hawk.

"I would take both jobs, but I'm fairly sure the guild only allows collecting of one at a given time. Seems this one will be a light walk into the countryside for a couple hours and back. You two had anything else to do or are we good to go?"

When Gaius arrived in their midst, Falco stood a little more upright, not to be outdone by the 'old man,' and returned the nod, with a smile of his own. He hadn't interacted with this one much, but Gaius seemed reliable, sensible, steady. A few days ago, Falco would have called the man uninteresting, perhaps even a little bland. But, after the suprises and shenanigans Sakura had thrown his way in the sewer, he was ready for 'bland and uninteresting.' No more suprises, pleeeease. Just gimme some normal people, doing normal stuff, he thought as Lucia greeted Gaius.

Unknown to him, Hyss has covertly maneuvered into their midst. He only became aware of her presence a millisecond before she spoke to him in a lowered voice. "I mean no offense, I hope you find some merit playing with farm animals, but I cannot," the girl said as she fetched a quest of her own from the board. "There are more important uses of my time."

This was the first time Falco had been in close proximity to her, under proper lighting, rather than the dank, dark tunnels of Tylsen's underbelly. Now that he saw her properly, he noted the barely-perceptible scale-like patterns on her pale skin. Either she was a beastkin or had a strange skin condition. Hmmm, she some kind of reptile? Snake? Lizard? Falco pondered this new development, which delayed his response long enough for Arien to cut in with a reminder that such pursuits were the job of a Kriegslowen.

"Methinks she wants to go back to the sewers," Falco said, mocking Lucia's mannerisms, while stifling a laugh. But, in a less dismissive tone, he went on: "Guys, you're goin' at this all wrong," he explained, looking from Lucia to Hyss, both of whom seemed to think herding sheep was just herding sheep. "It ain't about the job. It's about buildin' your rep, by lookin' out for the little guy. We do this, an' do it right, maybe this shepherd gives us a call for another gig. Or maybe he tells his farm buddies about us. Maybe he's got a cute daughter and thinks, 'wow, that Falco kid would make a fine son-in-law.' Ooooooh, maybe the shepherd is the cute daughter! Even better!"

His face lit up, as if this thought --or fantasy, rather-- had just occurred to him, like divine inspiration, and was the most wonderful thing in the world now. "Ahem, anyway, look, my point is, ya gotta work on your people skills, Hoods. You, too, Legs," Falco said, wagging a finger at the two girls. "We're here to make feln, yeah, but we're actually here to make friends... friends with feln.... who also have friends with feln. Trust me, this is how it works. I'm something of a burgeoning entrepreneur, y'see."

Thea Schuerer
Location: Kriegslöwe Guildhall, Tylsen
Looking at Lucia to start with Thea rolls her eyes a bit then stares blankly at the other, if she were a meaner person, she knew a few ways to tear the girl down. However, she was not, but her point would still stand. "As I recall the last time at your urging, I took your road of not worrying and it nearly got us all mauled. I will keep my guard up and my armor in place." Making way to turn, she is delayed by two and soon after, three things.

"Either way I do not worry about the sheep, I just happen to know sheep are rather... Hmm.." A pause followed by more words; "Yes, rather interesting animals. Though other things have a taste for them than just man."

Following this Gaius made himself known and Thea gave him a nod in kind. "Gaius." Listening to his request, she gives a bit of a shrug and motions towards the board. "Was a delivery job that demands a group, just delivering some gears in a time sensitive fashion. I suspect they weighed a lot, or it is really important. Other than that, a few other jobs were on the board, pest control, security patrols, I even think there was a request to guide tourists, something for street sweepers, looking for a lost cat, helping an elderly couple move some furniture, extermination or relocation of moles on the outskirts near a horse stable... They pay about what you would expect, minus the delivery, but it demands at least two people with three to four being ideal."

And then Hyss showed up to make her opinion known. "Ah, how nice it must be to know the worth of your time. Mayhap one of the other jobs will suit you, ah, you could find the rest training outside, or better yet, Ser Gaius here can maybe find a job for you." She said, clearly throwing the responsibility of dealing with her on him and having no interest in talking to her. Then Arien arrived, suddenly, silently and swiftly.

And he was not happy at all. She however had no goodwill to spend on Hyss after that day in the Sewers. While she may not be mean person as in case with Lucia, she had no cause to aid her. While she would fight alongside her if she must, she was not about to correct the girl's line of thought. Something which Falco was quick to do. Souring at her nickname of legs, she shakes her head with a sigh.

"Indeed, as he says, the connections one can foster within a community is not to be taken likely. If you can't do the dirty work of the guild, then why should they trust you with the more detailed?" Glancing at Arien she was unsure if they could just take the job and go or if they were needed for his questioning of the beast girl.

"And Falco, I tolerate many of your eccentrics but how would you like it if I started calling you Knives? And yes, maybe he does have a daughter for you to marry, why I would be more than happy to leave you with him. Though time is running short, we best be on our way.."

Cressey
Current Location: Tylsen Guild Courtyard

Step. Jab. Step-Step, Jab. Step-Jab, Step-Thrust, Step-Step Jab.
The fierce sound of Cressey's blows, and the shifting of her feet formed a constant, staccato rhythm that resounded throughout the courtyard.
Not a single beat was missed in her one-sided dance, as she repeated the steps, over, and over, and over again with a near machine-like precision.
To any outsider, she was just some small, junior member, practicing their skills, and perhaps venting some frustrations upon the unfortunate wooden doll before her.
But in her mind, she was back in the sewer, facing the ghost of that sword-wielding man.
No matter how precise, how swift, how powerful her strikes seemed to be, he was always close, but ever just a little too far away, always just a touch ahead of her, a step faster, and always able to brush aside her blows like some pesky fly.
It was maddening, and it was that madness that let her continue the routine for hours on end.
She just couldn't accept what had happened, how close she came to defeat.
She needed to be better, faster, stronger.
One final thrust tore savagely through the dummy's wooden flesh, imbedding Cressey's lance deep within it's body.
It was only then, with that final blow, that Cressey let herself stop, her chest heaving with ragged gasps, a long bead of sweat dripping down from her forehead, down to her chin.
In her moment of reprieve, she pulled her lance back, wiping the sweat from her brow as she examined her handiwork; the doll was well-weathered before she'd chosen it for her target, but now, it was riddled with holes in various places, and of varying depth, some surrounded with a ring of charred soot and ash.
Her eyes fell upon the arcanizer on her arm; a band of gold and brass that fit tightly over her gauntlet, decorated with a wreath of engraved laurels and crosses, and, framing a glimmering, pale-green gem, a small pair of feathered wings.
She'd seen first-hand, the power the tiny trinket was capable of wielding, and Cephilia had trained her in it's use, and while she certainly couldn't argue with the results, she still found herself holding some misgivings towards the device.
Was it truly her power lurking within that gem? In her battle with that armored mercenary, could she really claim that it was her strength that led her to victory?
It was one of many questions that constantly gnawed at the back of her mind since she'd returned from the guild.
No matter, she would entertain that loathsome Caskaerith, wear it, and improve upon her own skills naturally.
She didn't need some witchcraft or parlor trick to prove herself.
She just needed to practice.

Her break finished, and her breathing steadied, Cressey shifted her lance to her less dominant left hand, giving it a quick twirl to loosen her wrist and ready her muscles, before drawing it's point back towards the dummy in a mirror-image of her usual fighting stance, another round of ruthless combat drills about to be underway.
Before she could take her first step, however, a deep, familiar voice interrupted her, calling from some distance away.
"Good morning, Cressey."
"Ah, Thalgrukh," Cressey replied, relaxing her stance as she turned towards the Ovilkin.
"A good morning to you as well."
That was all she had expected from the conversation; a simple 'how-do-you do,' and then back to training.
But then, the orc stepped closer, and asked the unthinkable; for her to teach him in the ways of the spear.
Not Vivian, not one of the more senior members.
Her.
"Y-You want me to teach you?" she balked in disbelief, her eyes wide, a touch of blush tinging her cheeks and tips of her ears.
Her? Teaching another, clearly accomplished fighter?
Did she really display such authority, such expertise in her craft? Was she really that amazing?
An odd cross between a surprised gasp, and an ecstatic laugh burst momentarily from her throat, before she caught herself, turning her face away from the orc to regain her composure.
After a moment, she turned back to the orc, a trembling, self-satisfied grin playing on her face that barely contained her rapidly swelling ego.
"Weeellll~" she droned, daintily waving her hand in some thin illusion of humility.
"I suppose I could teach you a thing or two!!"
Lifting her spear back up, she turned back towards the dummy, taking up her with a renewed vigor.
"Just grab one of the training spears over there, we'll go over some basics and do a few drills!"

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Kriegslowe Guildhouse
No later than Lucia smoke her two cents did the scaled beastkin appear. Glancing over to her as she approached the board, the young noble's eye narrowed a bit. She found it quite odd that farmstock escort was demeaning yet pest control in the city's sewers was not. While Lucia would agree in preferring something of greater importance or challenge, livestock had purpose in society and though she wasn't worried, Thea was correct that there were robbers or predators that would be interested in the goods. Compare that to rodents in the underground--One was far easier to justify sending warriors to take care of.

However, it was then the girl felt a chill run up her spine as a voice spoke from behind. She jumped slightly, turning on her heel to face Arien. For a place so boisterous, why was he so silent?

"Goddess! Must you do that?!" Lucia snapped instinctively.

Refraining from any chastisement, the Caskarieth breathed and regained her composure before turning back to Falco. Hyss could deal with Arien and his jumpscares.

"I see not how that is at my expense. As I said, I am preferential to blatancy rather than beating around the bush," Lucia stated, pondering his latter comment. Her family was one of politicians. Flowery language and professional bullshitting was part of her vocabulary. "I can attempt to speak more plainly if that is easier... though it may prove difficult to break habit..."

Of course, she didn't think she should speak quite as plainly as Falco. Folding her arms once again, she narrowed her eye a bit as his impression but went with it nonetheless.

"Indeed. Methinks that livestock escort is of greater pertinence and value than rodent catching, though what do I know?" Lucia said somewhat smugly.

They were on the same page with that it seemed. Falco was surprisingly sharp depending on the subject. Networking was important, that much Lucia knew from her upbringing. She also didn't mind doing plebian jobs so long as they weren't entirely demeaning. Guarding a granary was dull in most respects, however she can justify its importance. Her ire toward the sewer incident was solely as fighters such as they, no matter how inexperienced, were being thrown at a job that could be performed by any civilian. It was beyond dull, or demeaning, it was a haze; an arbitrary, intentionally insulting initiation pushed on newcomers for, Lucia guessed, the infantile idea of "I was made to do this when I came, so you will too."

"Dirty is one thing... Regardless, after our excursion a few days ago, escort duties certainly do not offend me," Lucia commented with a roll of her eyes. "You insisted on staying afront the group. By all means, let me take the ire of any beast that assaults us for a lamb. Regardless, I agree we should be off... lest we keep Ser Falion from his soulmate."

A voice drew her attention. Somehow there was someone standing there she hadn't noticed! Shock! Briefly the hooded girl's flat face showed that shock. He had like NO presence! Who was this again??? Not only that, but he had called her by name! So surprising! For one reason or another everyone had been calling her something other than her name. So, she felt somewhat impressed by this level of respect deep in the pit of her stomach. It took her just a moment longer to recall who this man was. Of course, he was the receptionist --not standing at the counter. Which is what had thrown her off. He was such a ho-hum, harmless man that he slipped her mind whenever she turned away from the counter. Yet.. maybe this whole name-thing was making her see him in a different light... Maybe.

Meanwhile, her opinion of the eyepatch'd Caskarieth may have lowered just a bit. Hyss looked at her like, 'really?' How could she be spooked by that?

"Oh, yes, there are plenty." She waved the paper she had plucked. "Such as this job. Training. Or training, training's good." Oddly, Thea had basically said the same thing she had, so Hyss felt very little need to engage with the knight's words. "Why Ser Kampfer?" Though, she very much wondered why Gaius of all people was being recommended to finding her a job. What did the older man know about how she handled herself? Perhaps his older years made him wiser? Hm, it was a thought to be reconsidered another time.

Her eyes flashed over to Falco as he spoke his mind. Again, it was something mildly crude. Or it sounded so, coming from his ill mannered mouth. She blinked. "Perhaps. The boy has put in a few favorable points, though, I had not considered. On the other hand, I am at a loss of what he is saying about 'cute daughters' and 'fine son-in-laws'," she muttered, tone almost soured, a very small look of distaste gracing her shadowed, fine features as she looked at him. They made some good points about making connections... But for her, raising her 'rep' left Hyss feeling at a crossroads. It made sense. But a shadow.. having a rep? That sounded counter-intuitive -- hence her uncertainty. Unless it was a shadow's whispered reputation that brought about fear.

She pursed her lips, then furrowed her brow. "'Hoods'? Do you mean me? I have a name, you know. It is.." Her eyes glanced the male receptionist's way, recalling how just a moment ago this seemingly innocuous, run-of-the-mill man surprisingly addressed her respectably. "Hysydice," she reminded the street boy. She was aware, spoken in her clan's and race's dialect, that her name could be hard to understand and repeat. But that was not her issue --it was his.

Hysydice once again frowned, cocking her head. This time there was a clear look of confusion on her face. Which was much more obvious than most of her facial expressions, as the room's light lit up her face at this crooked angle. "'Friends'? How do you mean?" People's skills? A shadow like her? She wasn't sure he understood what he was saying. "Entrepreneur? You? Are you even sure you know the meaning of the word?"

Arien Bermille
Location: Kriegslöwe Guildhall, Tylsen

"My apologies.", Arien responded to the young Caskarieth. "It was not my intention to startle you."

Though his words were aimed toward the young beastfolk, he attentively listened to the words of her companions. From his perspective, while they hold the potential for greatness, just like any other recruit that joins the guild, they have quite a long way to go before they could even get a glimpse of such futures. Even their cohesiveness as a team, or the lack of it, was painted clearly to Arien's eyes - granted, there were a few flames of camaraderie that seemed to spark between a number of them.

"I see. So you're one of those.", he uttered after hearing the beastfolk's response, as if taking down a note from what she had said.

"Wealth. Fame. Power. These are good motivators to push you forward in your journey as Kriegslöwen, but I shall warn you - I have seen many who follow such ambitions, and a great majority of them were led to their very own downfall.", his eyes swiftly darted to those who have spoken, one by one. A solemn warning, or friendly advice from someone who had been in the guild longer than they have - it is up to the recruits how they would interpret his message. "Though the guild does allow us to follow our own paths, I would prefer not to have growing buds be snipped by their own mishaps."

"As Miss Cephilia had said to you before, you are free to choose the jobs you wish to do. But do not be mistaken that specific requests are more important than others, or less worthy of your time - they are all of the same significance. To downplay them is to belittle those who have put such requests.", he added.

After catching Thea's not-so-subtle glance, he gave a swift and short nod in her direction. "I have held you long enough. Pardon my intrusion."

"May your jobs be fruitful.", he said before he turned and left just like how he approached them - like a silent breeze, without sound nor presence.

Falco noted Thea's rather swift dismissal of Hyss. She appeared a tad too eager to pass the girl off to Gaius, of all people, or send her elsewhere to train. Damn, what did I miss? Falco thought, pondering if there was something else going on here or if the girl's words about farm animals not being worth her time had struck a nerve within the knight.

"Indeed, as he says, the connections one can foster within a community is not to be taken lightly," Thea went on to say. "If you can't do the dirty work of the guild, then why should they trust you with the more detailed?"

Ah, so, despite her rather dry demeanor, the knight understood the importance of being personable. This came as something of a relief to Falco. She understands it... she's just not very good at it, he thought, having a small chuckle at that. But that was fine. He would get Thea out of her shell, in due time. And maybe outta that armor, too.

For once, he didn't mean that in a lewd manner. Thea was the first of these new companions he had met, which made her somewhat special to him. But her rigid demeanor and fixation on 'work' and 'duty' made him afraid she would burn out or find herself alone. People would always look to her as an ally, because she's reliable in battle, but actual human beings need more than that. All he wanted was to see her in plain clothes, with her hair down, laughing her ass off without a care in the world. Just once.

"Nah, I think we understand one another," Falco said with a small, gallant flourish and slight dip of his head, "You needn't change for my benefit, milady."

"And Falco, I tolerate many of your eccentrics but how would you like it if I started calling you Knives? And yes, maybe he does have a daughter for you to marry, why I would be more than happy to leave you with him. Though time is running short, we best be on our way.."

By all means, let me take the ire of any beast that assaults us for a lamb. Regardless, I agree we should be off... lest we keep Ser Falion from his soulmate."

"You couldn't if you tried. Fate has a way of bringin' people together," he said, meeting Lucia's single eye with an intense and earnest stare. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep up the act for more than half a second, at best, before breaking into laughter. "Right, right, anyway, let's get movin!' This is gonna be fun. As for 'Knives'... I wouldn't mind it at all," he added, turning to Thea. "If the shoe fits, kick it. Call me whatever ya like. I know you don't mean nothin' by it."

"Perhaps. The boy has put in a few favorable points, though, I had not considered. On the other hand, I am at a loss of what he is saying about 'cute daughters' and 'fine son-in-laws'," Hyss said with a sour tone, but she did seem to consider his words for a moment, with a furrowed brow. "'Hoods'? Do you mean me? I have a name, you know. It is... Hysydice," she reminded him.

Falco was ready to get this show on the road, but the girl's words made him pause for just a moment. "Indeed? My apologies," he said with a small bow of his head. "'The Boy' will try to remember that, Hysdice. Now, if you'll excuse us..."

"'Friends'? How do you mean?" she asked, showing obvious confusion. "Entrepreneur? You? Are you even sure you know the meaning of the word?"

Okay, now she was trying to push his buttons. Lucky for her, that was no easy feat, especially when he was in such a good mood! He was about to embark on an adventure, with a lady on each arm. No reptile girl was going to bring him down. But, while he harbored no ill will toward her, if she was going to insult his intelligence, he was certainly going to return the favor.

"Hysdice, sweetheart," Falco said, in a kind, caring tone, "There's a very nice young lady in the library who is more than willing to direct you to the guild's assortment of dictionaries. I'm telling you this as your friend," he said, with a hand over his heart. "The 'entrepreneur' in me would try to sell you one for ten feln. Lucky for you, I am both."

Arien also had some remarks for the beastkin, as well as the rest of them, most of which passed in one ear and out the other for Falco. "See, that guy gets it," Falco said after Arien departed. "It's all about the experience of helpin' people out, doin' the right thing, leavin' this world better than ya found it," he added, with a grandiose gesture, causing some of the veteran adventurers around him to glance cuirously at him, as if wondering what this idot was on. "And maybe gettin' paid along the way. Y-yeah, we should go."

Looking around the room, Thea briefly considers taking more jobs, but she had no idea how long the current would take, consulting the job board and informative sheet gave answer to the fact she could indeed claim multiple jobs, provided they were completed by the given time. Failure to do so would carry consequences, be they monetarily or reputationally. Unfortunately, there was no quest they could do while helping with the sheep, it was unfortunate, but the reward wasn't bad. If she took the time to do more jobs or to relax a little when this was done, she could not say.

Listening to Lucia complain yet again, Thea exhales once more. "No, I'll take the lead, let's not wear out those noble hands just yet." She says with a hint of sarcasm.

Turning to look at Falco, it seemed he didn't get the point she was making at all, either he was too dense, or he was purposefully being that way. While she was honor bound and a hard worker, she wasn't fully a hard ass. "I ask you not use that name around others outside of the guild or that you try to make up something less degrading.. Though I rather my name be used, it is still not as bad as when you called me Theo." It seemed she had not forgotten that.

Heading over to the desk, Thea fills out the needed paperwork, unsure of where Arien had gone off to as she took the job officially, signing out herself, Falco and Lucia as a party in order to know they had left and so that they would be paid equally, rather than Thea just saying they would be paid and shorting them later like a more dishonest person may do. The Knight then motions the other two to come along, leaving Gaius and Hyss to their own devices.

As the Trio headed down the city streets and into the outskirts Thea would mostly say nothing for a while till the trio were away from the guild. "It will be a two-hour walk, maybe take a few minutes off of that, so I hope you both are up to it, should you need rest do speak up."

"As to pay, it is less than the sewers, being two silvers and five copper, if most of the herd is escorted safely then it will be three silvers and five coppers for each of us. So, I assume it won't be a petting zoo. Is there anything you two would like to know before we arrive?"

MORGAN CROMWELL
Location: Kriegslöwe Guildhall

Raeligard was a peculiar place.

Even now, months after leaving home, he still found himself unused to things. There wasn’t any roll call in the morning, and mornings came with warm food and a smile rather than shouting and a dulled blade. He didn’t have to apologize for taking longer than he should have on something, even if he still did. Morgan continued to chastise himself for such thoughts, but he couldn’t help but feel that things were sort of…quaint. Strange in comparison to home, but quaint. Stone walled barracks had been replaced with a small room of his own, sparsely decorated and lacking any real evidence someone lived in there. As Morgan prepared for the day, he could hardly believe it was his own room. Any moment now, surely he would awaken inside of the barracks with a kick to the face…yet he did not re-awaken. Morgan finished up quickly, heading down to the ground floor to clean before the innkeeper eventually announced her arrival with a yawn. How quickly he got used to the routine was indeed puzzling to the former Valgemian, but he would not complain.

He had gotten up incredibly early as usual, but now he had other duties. Even though the sun had not yet risen, people had begun to wander inside and take up the tables. For the next few hours, his life was taking orders and serving food. Doing some work at the tavern and running errands was what he was paid to do, and he would not cause trouble by making mistakes.

After cleaning up after the morning rush, Morgan forced himself to delay on his way to the guildhall at a much more reasonable time. Once his duties at the tavern were fulfilled, he would have to fulfill his new duties. If his tour and introduction had taught him anything, it was that the hall was much more active towards the middle of the day, and should be when he came to pick up the menial tasks that his rank performed for jobs. Spying his destination creeping up as he rounded the street corner, the steel-haired caskarieth watched some adventurers come and go before marching up himself, admittedly eager to perform his first job as a new member. It would not be much, but it would be something. As the warm day and paved roads gave way to its cool interior, Morgan internally applauded himself for being right. It was indeed as busy as he thought it would be. A handful of people - likely also looking for a job - were by the job boards, and as the F-rank wordlessly walked by he couldn’t help but bite his lip slightly. Was there a procedure to any of this? He could just…take a job, right? Introductions said yes, but it was far too much freedom for comfort.

The jobs for his rank seemed more like household chores than actual jobs, busy work. While he imagined someone else would mope and groan about not getting to swing a sword, this was very much alright to the rookie. Perusing the job listing, he looked for something that stuck out to him. Work kept him busy, and busy was comfortable.

Raeligard was peculiar, but at least some things were the same.

"Mhm, of course." He responded with complete sincerity. Despite Cressey's less than contained expression from Thal's request, he stayed quiet with a small smile on his face. He had figured that it would be better to have more than one person to learn new techniques from— after all, one person can only teach so much. Besides, it was good to bond with his fellow guild members. When she agreed, he broke into a bigger smile. "Thank you. Even if it's just two lessons, I'm sure it will be useful for when I do begin using it in fights."

He was about to argue that he was planning to go over to grab a few quests for the day but Cressey did look excited and it was still fairly early in the morning. Surely, there would still be some quests to be done later on in the day. Well, he supposed having to change up his schedule wouldn't be so bad, especially since his mentor was rearing to go for some lessons. "Sure, just give me a second." He said as he turned heel and headed over to the racks to pick up a training spear. He greeted a couple of other guild members who were hanging around the area. He picked up the training spear and weighed it in his hands as he moved back to Cressey. It was different from the weight of the halberd, obviously, but beginners had to start small, right?

He moved back to where Cressey was, trying to spin the spear as he usually did with his axe. The length of the weapon certainly tripped him up, but he supposed a few days of training would get him acclimated with it. "Well then, what's the first lesson of the day?" He asked, resting the end of the spear against the ground as he waited for his instruction. It reminded him of the few days of travel he had with the Kriegslöwe who had mentored him after he had passed his preliminary examination. The elder member had claimed that his skills were still rudimentary and unrefined, but the good thing is that there was no way to go but up and he intended to excel in being a versatile physical fighter to compensate for the fact that he wasn't using an Arcanizer.

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Kriegslowe Guildhouse - Tylsen
Lucia watched Arien take his leave with mild caution. The ability to appear suddenly and without warning was an unnerving one indeed. Regardless, she didn't take to his explanation more than Cephilia's. If all these jobs shared the same importance, where were all the higher ranks taking on these mundane tasks? Cephilia and Vivienne had participated in the sewer excursion, but that was only after something more dire than rats appeared, and though she chastised the younger, stating that the woman had gone through her share of insulting and disgusting ordeals, Lucia held a suspicion that such missions ceased or drastically decreased once she graduated from the "peasant-class". No. All assignments and requests were not created equal nor were they looked upon such. After all, that was why such tasks were left to the "servants".

Still, the Caskarieth kept her mouth shut. Her perception of the system mattered little as either way she would have to move through it herself.

Listening on as Falco seemed to enter a disagreement with Hysdice, it seemed he was of a similar mind as Arien. This was a bit surprising to Lucia, as she would have presumed the man to hold more selfish incentives to be here. Not that that was automatically negative. She, herself, certainly did not enlist for the warm and fuzzies experienced from helping those in need.

"I would rather not leave my life in fate's hands, but to each his own. Regardless, I did not take you for one so altruistic," Lucia commented before turning her gaze to Thea once again with a small grin, raising a clawed hand to give an pompously exaggerated toss of her hair. "Servant, remember? And I assure you, my hands will be just fine."

All in all, Lucia was eager to get a move on. Even if this wasn't the most exciting excursion, it was something. Relaxing with a book or a bath was nice, however if not occupied with either, sitting still was so unbearably droll. Besides, the sooner their outing was seen to its completion, the sooner she would climb the ladder.

Following behind Thea, as they left the guildhouse, Lucia deflated somewhat at the repeated statement of payment. "Hardly... I would quickly do this one thrice over than a repeat of that." She added with a light exhale. "Regardless, there is no underground nor excrement involved, so I will count my blessings. Certainly a little walk won't be that strenuous either."

Risax mostly focusing on what Falco was saying the mans words rung very true in the world of business honestly he and his own father would get along swimmingly with how similar there philosophies on the case of reputation were. Hyss didn’t exactly seem as receptive to the advice more so annoyed by it. Risax moving up besides the much smaller beastfolk and more or less crouching so he wasn’t as intimidating. “miss Hysydice, do Take what falco says to heart here, being form a merchant family myself reputation Is everything and right now we are all the many stalls everyone looks over becuse we’ve got nothing to distinguish ourselves, our first little adventure was vastly over what was expecting so things we can take will be more akin to odd jobs take them in strides and know that the hard work will pay ots dividend in experience and coin” Risax chimed in more or less reiterating Falco’s point with less… falco energy.

”now if sheep don’t take your fancy I’m sure there’s another request we can select, unless of course you’d rather simply go alone?” Risax offered prehaps tagging long with the snek girl though it was just as likely that his words would fall on deaf ears all things considered. "I ask you not use that name around others outside of the guild or that you try to make up something less degrading." Thea said, in response to him calling her 'Legs.'

Degrading? Falco thought, doing a double-take. He appeared to be genuinely shocked that she felt this way. "Thea... I-I'm sorry. I thought it was a compliment." But, c'mon, seriously, just look at those things! Aurelia, have mercy, he thought, taking a half step back to admire them for but a moment. He blessedly kept these thoughts to himself and regained his apologetic composure, for he truly was sorry... even if he didn't understand why she had an issue with it.

"Though I rather my name be used, it is still not as bad as when you called me Theo," Thea added.

"Oooph... yeah... that..." Falco said, his cheeks reddening slightly. He was forced to concede defeat. "Fair enough. 'Thea' it is... with the occasional 'Lady Schuerer' when I wanna talk with me pinky up," he added with a wink before waving goodbye to Gaius and Hyss as he and the two girls moved to the receptionist's desk to lay claim to their chosen quest. They were officially a party now, at least for this one job. With that out of the way, they departed the guild hall.

Once they were in the streets, Big Sister Thea continued: "It will be a two-hour walk, maybe take a few minutes off of that, so I hope you both are up to it, should you need rest do speak up,"[/b] she said.

"Aye, I'll let you know when I'm ready to be carried," Falco joked, though he was honestly feeling much better. That second (eighth?) wind he spoke of had arrived. A good, long walk couldn't hurt. Most of his aches were due to being swatted around by Viv's contraption the previous day. He'd absorbed more body blows than a boxer, but his legs were still fit as a fiddle.

"As to pay, it is less than the sewers, being two silvers and five copper," Thea explained. "If most of the herd is escorted safely then it will be three silvers and five coppers for each of us. So, I assume it won't be a petting zoo. Is there anything you two would like to know before we arrive?

"Hardly... I would quickly do this one thrice over than a repeat of that," Lucia added with a light exhale. "Regardless, there is no underground nor excrement involved, so I will count my blessings. Certainly a little walk won't be that strenuous either."

"There are animals. There will be excrement," Falco said, rather matter-of-factly. While he didn't know much about the tending of livestock, one thing city life had taught him was that everything shits -- sometimes when and where you least expect it. "Anyway, if Thea's taking up the vanguard and you're holding the rear, I guess I'll cover the middleground and keep the shepherd company. Or maybe scout ahead? I'ma good lookout and quick on my feet."

Listening to the pair, Thea snorts a little, addressing Lucia first. "There will be plenty of dung, worry not about that. Fortunately, such droppings from sheep tends to be try and east to wipe away from one's shoes and boots in the tall grass." Switching her attention towards Falco.

"If I were too offended, I would not be speaking, but attempting other things. Do not worry about it so much, as you said I do have legs, I am not ignorant of my own height. Still it is a bit.. degrading as I said to be known for that. Would you wish to be called Hands or Sneak? Though it is nothing to stress over. As to Lady Schuerer, that is up to you." At the mention of being carried she actually and maybe to the male, surprisingly jokes about it.

"Ah, but shouldn't the man carry the lady? Though with my own height and strength I've long gave up on the idea of a groom carrying me, rather it is I to carry him. And sadly for you there is not such an event happening, so your legs will have to make do."

It was then he brought up the formation, that was not what she had meant at all. "Huh? Oh, no the formation was just to get us on the way and down the road, we'll have to rethink what formation to take and how to go about it once we are there. Though the request was to help them with stragglers. The fact we are making either 25 or 35 Flen tells me that farmer is bringing A lot of animals and wool to the market... So we may need to wait till we speak with the man or woman that put in the request, then we decide from there what we wish to do. Ask some questions."

With that Thea motions forward, holding up her right arm and extending it forward, a clear call to move out.

Thankfully the journey to the farmstead was an uneventful journey, with some occasional banter and silence, a right under two and a half hour walk from the edge of Tylsen, while geographically close and some buildings were still in view, they were for sure out in the outer ring of farms, every now and then the road was shaded by the cover of trees, little small woodland zones or clumps of trees here and there. It was clear whoever the farmer was, they were likely one of the larger landowners that directly serviced some of the needs of the city. Soon these thoughts were confirmed as rolling pasture lands and fences dotted the land scape, a homestead in the distance and what seemed to be four horse drawn covered wagons, a gathering of eight sheep dogs sheep dogs and what seemed to be a gathering of eight men and two women huddled about. In the near distance a collection of at least a hundred sheep being kept in line and separated from another grazing land that seemed to have more among other animals in the distance even further still. Leading the group onwards, one of the men, middle aged and better dressed than the rest stopped what he was doing and approached the Trio in quick order with a welcoming smile.

"Juding by your gear and manner of being, you must be the newest additions to the Guild? I trust there were no problems on the road? Name's Johan Rogner, I run Rogner's ranch.. As you can see we got a little work ahead of us, if possible we would like you three to guard our Convoy and to keep any beasties from making off with a snack. Wagons are carrying wool and hide, the sheep are going to the various markets, but we'll handle all that once we reach the City proper. Which of you is in charge?"

"That would be I. And the travel here was rather uneventful." Said Thea in a terse and short reply, taking a bit of a break as the man nods.

"We'll follow what plans you guys make as best able, but four wagons and a large herd makes flexibility a problem. Just keep that in mind, you all got questions or need anything let me or one of the hands know. Otherwise, we'll be aiming to get out on the road, say within the next thirty minutes." With that he gives a semi bow and heads back to the grouping, which sets about organizing the herd with aid of the dogs. The leader stood about with two of the women and two of the men, doing a bit of last minute talking as they look into the covered wagons doing a final cargo check.

"Hmm... And here you thought we were getting paid too much.. I'm willing to bet he has a D or C rank quest slotted to get his grouping back home safe when this is all done as he won't have an insignificant amount of coin when he returns... The question is how do we want to go about it? That plan you had earlier?" She asks of Falco, before looking out over the sheep. "We might should take the chance to get us acquainted to the animals and some of the workers, ask any questions we got, take a little rest. I leave it up to you how you spend that time. But for now that plan, yes?" The Knight said, looking at Falco and Lucia to see if they had aught to say before she made a plan all of her own.

It wasn't like she disrespected his opinion. But Hyss found herself not really giving much thought to what this man -Arien- was saying. She was not here for wealth or fame. Though "power" caught her attention. Power, she supposed, is what she was here for. To an extent. Really she was here to gain what she needed to free her parents and her kind from Valgem's greedy hands. So, yes, "power" is what she sought. But not the type of "power" Arien seemed to mean. The arrogant kind. The kind Hyss sought to fight. The kind Hyss loathed. In other words, Arien seemed quite off the mark about her motivations, and as such, she found it hard to be bothered with his words. With that said, she didn't think lesser of the man, he simply was who he was. And the "he" he was was giving advice based on his perceptions and experiences. And he couldn't possibly know her hidden desires and secretly-kept past.

Still, she furrowed her brow. "'Those'? What do you mean by that?.." What 'those' was he referring to? It seemed he intended to depart and leave them to their devices, so the question was left in the air, unanswered. "What did he mean by that..?" she grumbled.

Hyss was oddly thinking similar thoughts to Lucia. There was simply no way all of these requests were of equal importance. She didn't think lesser of people who made innocuous requests, but for their purpose of growing as adventurers it was quite simple. Delivering a pie to someone's grandma could not possibly hold as much value as defending a small village from a raid of monsters. They simply could not hold the same weight. But Hyss didn't think he was meaning it the way he said it -- he was just using his words carelessly.

At the same time, Hyss frowned and recoiled a bit. She did not mean to belittle the one who made the request -not at all. She frowned, "I apologize. I didn't mean to belittle people I know nothing about." She dipped her head a bit. Falco also said something. But it was stupid, so Hyss didn't deem it worth responding to. Thankfully, this was around the time everyone departed and she heard a voice behind her, which allowed her to turn her attention to the voice, ignoring Falco's dumb remark.

Hyss stepped around to 'face' who spoke to her. A small pink forked tongue was seen flicking out from her hood. "Ah, the spider," she murmured, as she then bent back just enough to peer up at him from beneath the shadows of her hood. Even bent as he was -obviously some attempt in consideration for her, poor as it was- he towered over her. Hyss's tongue flicked again. Habit, it was simply a habit. Her tongue returned to her mouth.

"I see no reason to heed his words. A fool, and a philanderer. That's who spoke those words. Hardly someone worth listening to, Ser Spider." Lowering her head once more, the hooded girl huffed. "At least you tried to attempt to say my name correctly, Mr. Risax. You would think people would understand manners in this renowned establishment. Though it is Hysydice. Hysydice. You're putting pronunciation on the wrong point. Ahhh, no mind; it is too exhausting to expect any to pronounce my name correctly."

She turned to the side. "Alone. I am used to working alone. And I do not do it for coin. Nor for glory. Nor for fame. People are so quick to speak without knowing a single thing about the other person. Irksome. It is so irksome."

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Tylsen Outskirts
"None that I will step or fall in." Lucia's response was immediate and curt, almost cutting the other two's response. Her expression, paired with her tone, said that she would not hear anything more of it. The girl said she didn't mind getting her hands dirty, but while a bastard, a noble she still was. She had standards, a plenty of pride.

Upon reaching the meeting point, Lucia gave a short nod in greeting as Thea did the talking. Glancing around at the various wagons and animals, she seemed to be mulling over how this all was going to go before the knight returned and pondered aloud the same. Lucia scoffed a bit at her jest.

"Indeed, and I would still commit to this thrice over,"
The Caskarieth remarked. So what if it was a larger caravan than expected? That didn't give her cause for worry. It was still just walking alongside animals for a couple of hours. She was positive they could deal with anything that came for a snack.

"Acquaint ourselves with the animals? What need do we have of that? Can we not simply each take a flank or do as Falco suggested?" She questioned, staring at Thea with a deadpan. This was the closest Lucia had been to a farmstead, and while she had seen farmstock before, she obviously didn't have any experience in handling them. Her entire concern was placed on the potentiality for bandits or predators. "By all means, go inquire. I have naught to ask of them."

Falco remained mercifully silent during the trek to the farmstead, simply taking in the scenery and the company, and pondering how best to go about the task ahead of them. During the early stages of their trip, he ocasionally dropped back, letting the other two ladies take a healthy lead while he trotted along behind them. A little distance made it easier to... ummm... 'observe' the Caskarieth noble. Her armor was quite well-designed and hugged her body in a way Falco found increasingly enjoyable with every step she took. Such fine workmanship.

However, as Tylsen's skyline dwindled behind them, he shifted his attention from the scenic views to the mission itself. The trees became increasingly sparse, leaving little more than clear sky, tall grass, and rollling hills, with only the occasional tree or shrub to provide shade. The openness of it all disturbed him and made him increasingly aware of what their party lacked. Even Lucy's curves couldn't distract him from that.

A little under an hour into the journey, Falco ceased lagging behind and took a slight lead. He retrieved a piece of white cloth from his pack and began slicing off long strips, which he carefully tied to the handles of his throwing knives, one by one, until they each sported an identical white tail. Then, to pass the time, he began using oncoming trees along the road as target practice, throwing knives at them from increasingly long distances and collecting them as they passed. The white tails worked as intended, making it easier to find them in the tall grass when he missed... which happened more often than he would like. He ceased this practice once the client's farmstead came into view.

Once they arrived, he let Thea do the talking, which wasn't typically his way, but this was all very much out of his depth. Falco listened, though his eyes drifted across their surroundings, taking into account the number of wagons and people and animals. Friends with feln, he thought, a little sourly. He's making this trip for a bargain. Either this guy ain't expecting trouble, or he's being super cheap.

Fortuntely, after Johan departed, Thea seemed to share his cursory assessment of this quest: "Hmm... And here you thought we were getting paid too much.. I'm willing to bet he has a D or C rank quest slotted to get his grouping back home safe when this is all done as he won't have an insignificant amount of coin when he returns," she said. "The question is how do we want to go about it? That plan you had earlier?" She asks of Falco, before looking out over the sheep."We might should take the chance to get us acquainted to the animals and some of the workers, ask any questions we got, take a little rest. I leave it up to you how you spend that time. But for now that plan, yes?"

"Acquaint ourselves with the animals? What need do we have of that? Can we not simply each take a flank or do as Falco suggested?" Lucia said. "By all means, go inquire. I have naught to ask of them."

Falco stood slightly apart from them both, gazing out across the expansive fields at the cluster of wagons and people, with his hands on his hips and a very pensive look upon his face. Not until Lucy spoke up, did he properly turn his attention to them both, with a more serious expression than they were accustomed to seeing from him.

"Lucy, you're absolutely gorgeous. Really easy on the eyes. It's an elf thing, I suppose. But, damn, you kinda miss the point sometimes," he said, rather matter-of-factly. "We acquaint ourselves with them so they'll know who we are, if shit gets outta hand. Smile, laugh, make nice with the people, so you're not just a pretty face, okay. And if we gather a little information along the way, great, 'Cuz I don't know about you, but I know jack shit about sheep and these guys are experts, so I'll absorb whatever I can get."

He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Anyway, this is the hand we're dealt. I think a tight formation is probably the best way to go. Wagons at the head, sheep in the middle, we bring up the rear, keeping an eye on everything. I doubt we'll run into bandits; they'll want his cash on the return trip, not the raw materials or the sheep. So, I think wolves, coyotes, and wild dogs are the most likely threat," he explained, glancing at the two girls for any signs of agreement or disagreement. "Since we don't have a way of picking them off before they reach the herd, we'll just have to respond quickly when or if shit goes tits up."

After a small pause, he sighed: "Not gonna lie, I wish I'd followed my gut," he said, with a slow shake of his head, as if disappointed in himself. "Ya know, I was this close to asking Sakura to join us? Issues aside, she's a hunter and an archer. As it stands now, all I see is open fields and my throwing knives can only do so much. If we get ambushed by more than a couple of 'em, be it man or beast, we're kinda fucked."

Thea Schuerer
Location: Outskirts, Tylsen
As the two voided disinterest or interest respectively, as she rolled her eyes at the Caskarieth, giving up on trying to help the former noble out with the happenings of the country, hard work, time and experience would teach that. Then there was Falco with a bit of his street wisdom. "Hmm that is a good spirit, but it isn't that strenuous. We are escorting the sheep, not tending to them. Though you may learn that sheep are rather dimwitted and easily frightened. As to threats to the herd, don't forget the sheep dogs, you will find they shall put up a fight and then some. We can scatter what comes unless it is very determined. Fortunately, this close to the city dragons or other large monsters and beast is no likely.. Plus they likely have a history of hiring adventurers, and have a history of the obstacles such journeys would face. While they are being cheap I don't think the guild would take on his request if they had a history of seriously harming the recruits."

Or so it reasoned to Thea. Then Falco had to make mention of something that made her sour a bit. With a clenching of her jaw, she searched for words.

"In all honesty with the two of you and myself I expected you to go for the gear quest, I had made mention of the animals as I expected you to make an offer of it to her, or that someone, anyone in the guild would take the job up, even if that misbegotten mongrel herself. But you two went with the country job, you did not speak out and no one else showed any inclination to accept any of the jobs I mentioned, or any jobs at all, with one saying such work was a waste of her oh so valuable time, heretic that she is aside, she will truly go far in the guild for whatever strange incilnations she likely harbors."

It seemed Thea still held and would some time her interactions in the case of both of the girls. "If I must I can operate with either, but I want nothing to do with either outside of that and if I had my preference I would not work with either. The guild was much too kind to both for my liking, but I am not in charge. That being said the Goddess opens the way to those who repent or those that turn against such savage behavior and urgings, those who are civilized rather than beasts on a hunting ground. Though I guess it is for the best it worked out this way, one would not care for the job at all and the other would likely attempt eating them."

Letting out another sigh, the knight looks at the others readying the convoy to move as she casts a glance at Falco to say some final words on the conversation. "I cannot bring myself to aid them, to care for them nor to help them past what my duties require... All the same I have no intention of hounding them down nor blocking work from them.. Least they commit yet more acts of Heresy, my tolerance, just like the forgiveness the Goddess offers has it's limits." Hooking her thumbs into her belt, with hands on her hips, the woman stares for a brief few moments at the two before heading off. "Unlike the both of you I am used to such work. I'll tell the headman what we intend and then next you see me we shall be off. Or was there anything else?"
