Yoshi had fallen silent the longer their trek into the eerie swampland took. His eyes were on a constant swivel in attempt to stay alert for any oncoming dangers, but all he was greeted by was the swamp's uninviting scenery and the cold rain that hit his snout before sliding down his smooth skin. It was an unsettling feeling, but it wasn't one he was entirely unfamiliar with. Similar sensations often rose up whenever he found himself near one of Bowser's fortresses or the poisonous swamps around the Mushroom Kingdom. It was far from a comforting feeling, but he would make do.

As the voices began to invade his own mind, he remained rather unfazed. Maybe he was to naive to care about them or maybe unfamiliar voices merely had little effect. Either way he remained steadfast in his heart. The same couldn't be said for his companions though. His eyes darted towards Mog and Shadow first, noticing how both seemed to react quickly to the voices and cried out their own concerns. While he wanted to encourage them, he found himself lacking much of a voice in the moment. No matter how desperately he wanted to yell out, nothing came.

That was concerning in itself, but Yoshi remained calm as his head turned towards Falcon. Unlike the others, he wasn't speaking out, but from his body language alone the dino could tell something wasn't right. The last thing they needed was him falling into some kind of despair, especially since he had taken the role of their leader. If he went down because of some voices, what kind of example would that set for the rest of them? It would only invite the dread in. That was the worse case scenario and one Yoshi wished to avoid if even possible. But how was he supposed to snap the Captain out of his daze without a voice?

His nostrils flared in irritation at the thought and he briefly let himself ponder possibilities before one finally settled in the forefront of his mind. Without a second thought, he trudged through the thick swamp and rammed all his weight up against Falcon in attempt to draw him back into reality with no real damage done. It was a hopeful thought, but it was all he could currently do.

Through some quick words and a drawn diagram, Pichu understood the general gist of what Layton wanted him to do. So with a nod of affirmation, the little Pokémon mon hurriedly bit onto the corner of the tarp as he scaled up Layton’s arm, dragging the cloth along as he then hopped onto the catapult itself. With Pichu’s intrinsic climbing skills it didn’t take any time at all for him to skillfully scale up the long beam and reach the top. From his viewpoint Pichu spore a brief glance at the ongoing battle, managing to find some comfort in the Gao’s diminishing numbers thanks to Byleth’s, Robin’s, and Chrom’s efforts. But he’d tear his eyes away from the sight and spit out the tarp from his mouth as he quickly got to work tying the tarp into a sail.

His job complete, Pichu hopped down from the catapult and landed atop Layton’s hat, steadying himself before then finally jumping down onto a crate nearby. Chrom, Robin, and Sora joined the two not long after as everyone lent an ear to the professor. So, while he and the fire emblem representatives continued the fight against the Gao, Layton intended for the youngest members of the group to flee using the catapult, leaving the adults to deal with the rest of the battle on their own.

“Pi?” Pichu stole another glance back towards the battle before looking back towards Layton, his face scrunched up with an odd mixture of concern and offense. He didn’t doubt the abilities of his fellow fighters, heck Byleth was doing quite the number on the army all by himself! But still, Pichu couldn’t help but be a little concerned. And, maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t entirely a fan of how Layton grouped them as if they were just a bunch dumb kids when they were anything but!…well, excluding Luke. However, with Sora expressing his approval (albeit with some hesitance) Pichu gave a small huff but nodded in agreement.

“Pichu!”

In that case, they should go grab Luke, shouldn’t they? If he remembered right Layton had shooed the kid off to go hide inside the castle, hopefully he was still there. Hopping down from the crate, Pichu looked up at the others before tilting his head in the direction of the castle’s entrance.

“Pi!”

Then, not waiting to see if they understood what he meant, Pichu scampered off towards the abandoned palace, off to go collect the boy. Thankfully, with the castle located behind the battle and its general proximity to the catapult, Pichu had no trouble scurrying over towards the entrance, slipping through the massive doors and entering inside.

The moment he stepped inside, the sounds of the battle were muffled to nothing but a murmur as the fortified walls, while visibly deteriorated with age, still served their purpose remarkably well. Yet Pichu little comfort in this fact, as with the castle halls bathed in darkness, the place was certainly rather eerie. Pichu however had no time to be a scaredy torracat, and so he marched further inside on the lookout for the blue hatted boy. Paws cupped around his mouth, Pichu called out the boy’s name.

“Pichuuuu!”

Shulk was prepared to continue on, even jumping down to the ledge below before he heard the commotion behind him. New voices quickly hit his ears and his initial reaction was to reach for the hilt of the Monado, but as he did, he turned to look behind himself. As his fingers wrapped around the blade's neck, he was met with a sight he hadn't expected. They weren't under attack. No, it was quite the opposite: it was new, or rather returning, allies.

Easing up his grip on his weapon, a sigh of relief escaped from Shulk's lips and he quietly watched as the four situated themselves after the collision. It left him in an awkward position. He wasn't part of the whole ordeal nor did it feel right for him to interject, not that he had much to say. He hardly knew the pair that had joined them. During his inclusion during the Realm's fourth tournament when he had been invited, the Climbers had not and during the previous one, well... Galeem and Dharkon had made things difficult and his own image hadn't been all too great or that was the burden he placed upon himself. He was probably overthinking things per usual, but who could blame him. He had been puppeteered at the forefront of Galeem's army. The hazy memories still lingered in his mind and haunted him no matter how hard he pushed them to the depths of his mind.

Shaking his head, he decided to let the matter be and allow the group behind him to figure things out as he pushed a little ways ahead. It spared him from awkward greetings, which unfortunately he was great at, and it allowed him to ponder over his vision for a moment on his own. However, as much as he wanted to get lost in his own mind, the sights up ahead prevented him from doing such.

In the near distance, his eyes could make out the shape of what looked like makeshift tents. There were no signs of movement around them, but it gave the visionary some hope that something might be up ahead. Deciding to look over it quietly as he waited, Shulk relaxed himself and seemingly spaced out for the time being.

Pyra's sweet smile and statement caused Pit to rub the back of his head, a sheepish smile spreading on his face as his cheeks turned red. "Oh! Aww, it's nothing, Pyra. I was just stating the truth, that's all!" Pit's eyes then became downcast at the mention of Mythra. "Poor Mythra. She has a kind heart, one with so much love in it, but she's so afraid of showing and receiving it."

Pyra moved to comfort the Waddle Dee, and from simple observation Pit was able to pick up on what made the little critter so upset. Pit realized that this was no small matter: this Waddle Dee was a big fan of the Super Smash Brothers, and its autographed poster had been destroyed in the attack upon the beach town! Well, an upset fan just isn't acceptable, Pit firmly decided! He absolutely loved his fans, even though it can be a little grating to be asked to say the "I never learned how to read," and "Floor ice cream gives you health" lines over and over again. Dubs... What can he do?

At the sound of Pyra's gentle voice, the Waddle Dee looked up at her with a face streaked with tears. Its eyes went wide. Oh! It's Pyra again! At the Aegis's kind suggestion of finding something better to have autographed, the fan's eyes bulged and its little hands and feet kicked with excitement! "Wanya!"

Pit pondered a moment, then snapped his fingers as he was struck with an idea. "I've got it!" Beaming, the angel took out the horn of Aquamentus and offered it out to Pyra and the Waddle Dee. "How cool would this be as a souvenir? The Waddle Dees played a big part in our victory this day; I can't think of a better trophy!"

The Waddle Dee let out a high-pitched squee of delight! It was a wonder the little fellow didn't pop! Pit and Pyra, two members of the legendary Super Smash Brothers, right here, right now, speaking to it! And not only that, but it will have their autographs on the horn of the creature they defeated! Wow! Wow! Wow! WOW!!

Pit couldn't help but laugh. The Waddle Dee's joy and energy were infectious! But it was short-lived as the door to the inn slammed open and another Waddle Dee ran inside, a blue-haired young woman following in pursuit! The angel captain's warrior instincts kicked in instantly, and the two swords that made up the Bow of Palutena appeared in his hands as he went into a stance.

"Hold it!" Pit ordered, authority in his voice. "Who are you and what do you want?"

Whatever it was, he was not going to allow more harm to come to the Waddle Dees! They're big fans after all!

Pikachu looked up at Samus, a puzzled expression on her fuzzy features. "Pikachu?" Getting Corrin was a great idea as Corrin can take the form of a dragon and they can all pursue Dark Pit from the air, but Pikachu wasn't sure if Dark Pit could be convinced to return at all. As far as the Pokemon knew, the only way to stop Dark Pit was through force. Too bad angels can't be caught in Pokeballs, Pikachu thought, that would make things a lot easier!

Pikachu returned her eyes to the sky. She couldn't see a thing through the clouds. She had to rely on Samus and her amazing suit of armor to keep track of the rogue angel!

A black iridescent feather fell from the heavens. Pikachu leaped into the air and caught it easily. There was no doubt about it: this is one of Dark Pit's feathers! They were on the right track!

Up in the clouds, Dark Pit had disappeared from sight, but a trail of molted feathers and disturbed clouds marked the reflection's path of travel. With these obvious clues, there was no way Cream and Cheese could lose their quarry!

Or so it seemed!

Behind Cream and Cheese, Dark Pit cautiously poked his head out from a pile of clouds he had been hiding in. Samus's plan of waiting out his flight was a good one with the exception of one thing: Both Pits can walk on clouds!

Dark Pit smirked. He deliberately left those feathers and disturbed the clouds. It was a false trail! At least this way, he can go off on his own and lose his pursuers, and if Cream followed the trail she will avoid those strange golden orbs he had seen floating in the sky just seconds ago. Dark Pit was vexed by the Super Smash Sisters' insistence on keeping him with the group, but he wasn't about to let an innocent child be blasted out of the sky.

Silent as a shadow, Dark Pit slipped out of his hiding spot and faced westward. He knew the false trail will not delay the others for long, especially one as sharp as Samus Aran. He'd best put as much distance between himself and the others as quickly as possible!

The dark angel took a few steps and stopped. Far below him was the Lake Shore and the other Super Smash Brothers, and for a moment Dark Pit felt hesitation. Deep down he knew Samus and the others were right: the Smash Realm was in grave trouble yet again. The last two times the Realm was in peril, the Super Smash Brothers triumphed only by the skin of their teeth, and that was with all of them together!

Dark Pit huffed softly and dismissed it all. He really did not want to be trapped in Samus's ship with a bunch of other people and beings. It was his nature to be alone.

... He'd best get moving.

Nurse Joy was taken aback as Sheik grabbed Corrin and dragged the princess to her. The tone of Sheik's voice and the urgency of the situation spurred the nurse into action. "Y-yes. Of course!" She took out a Pokeball and pointed it toward an empty space near by. "Audino, I need your assistance!"

The red beam that shot from the Pokeball took the shape of the kind-hearted Hearing Pokemon. Audino, who was feeling much better after the incident last night, responded with a happy, "Audino!"

"Audino,"
Nurse Joy ordered as she gestured to Corrin. "Use Heal Pulse on Corrin, please."

Audino eagerly obeyed. It conjured a pink ball of energy between its hands, then spread its arms wide, shattering the orb and releasing waves of soothing healing light! Big the Cat closed his eyes as the wave made contact with him and relaxed his body.

"Mmm," Big hummed dozily. "That feels nice..."

Pyra turned her head as Pit walked over and offered a solution to the Waddle Dee's current predicament. Was it really okay for them to give a Waddle Dee such a thing? She wasn't sure, but she wasn't going to argue it. The last thing she wanted was to upset the little guy any further than he had been. She remained silent and simply nodded in agreement.

Before they could even proceed though, the commotion outside quickly caught her attention and caused her head to turn towards the door before another Waddle Dee came bursting inside with a strange, blue haired woman chasing after it. Pit was quick to act on the defensive and confront the pursuer as Pyra's eyes flickered towards the victim. Instantly she noticed the envelope it was carrying and cocked her head as she rose up to her full height and took a step towards the little puffball, leaving the adoring fan be for a moment to address the situation.

"Whatcha got there, little guy?" she asked before crouching in front of the Waddle Dee and gesturing towards the envelope to make her intentions clear. Once she was sure it knew she was going to take it, she did and her eyes gazed upon the familiar red wax seal. It was like the one she had received before her inclusion in the previous tournament. Despite its familiarity, the aegis was struck with confusion. Was there even another tournament?

The thought caused Pyra to fall silent as she pondered it. As far as she was concerned that wasn't the case, but it was hard to deny what she was looking at. Maybe it was some prank? It wasn't uncommon for such things to happen, especially with how some of the other fighters were. The number of times she could recall a certain Waluigi showing up at the Smash House claiming he had received an official invitation was more times than she cared to count. Would someone send an invitation out at a time like this though? They were only supposed to be gathering for a little get together, not a tournament. She supposed it didn't matter. Fact was there was an invite and whether it belonged to the Waddle Dee or Lana was the real issue at hand.

"I'm going to borrow this a moment, okay?" she told the Waddle Dee before she stood up again and held the letter between her fingers. Stepping beside Pit, she held it out for both parties to see before her gaze landed upon Lana. She had no intentions of handing the envelope over to her, but she dared to question her on it.

"Might this be what you are after? I can imagine why something like this would cause such a commotion..."

Lana
The White Sorceress

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

latest

Lana had that adorable little thief right where she wanted them...that is, until she was stopped.

The sorceress quickly looked around as she saw two individuals intervene in the situation. One of them was what appeared to be a young woman dressed in shades of blazing red, her eyes reminding Lana of fire. She had gone towards the Waddle Dee that had stolen her invitation to check on it.
The other, was a young man dressed in white, with...were those wings? The goddess' spear slipped from her hands for a moment as she looked him over. He...was an angel, right? Lana knew these sorts of mythical beings existed, of course, but she had never seen one up close...
She quickly remembered what was going on when he spoke to her in a commanding voice. Her grip on her spear tightened once more as he summoned his own weapons. The deity could not lie- his tone reminded her of the Hyrulean soldiers, and thus reminded her of Link, but she couldn't let herself get distracted. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Lana took a breath and answered in the toughest voice she could muster, "I am Lana, the White Sorceress and Guardian of Time. So if you want to pick a fight with me, I won't hesitate to smite you!"

In truth, the deity didn't want to hurt anyone; it was against her nature. But she had learned from experiencing warfare firsthand that the biggest mistake someone could make when encountering someone who was clearly armed was to show fear. Sometimes all it took to make someone back off was a solid bluff!

Her violet gaze flicked from the young man to the girl who accompanied him. She had taken the letter from the Waddle Dee and held it out for her and the hostile angel to see. At her question as to whether the letter was what Lana wanted from the Waddle Dee or not, the sorceress nodded quickly, lowering her weapon. She pointed at the letter and stated, "That little creature took that from me and ran off with it! I was only trying to get it back." She looked at her weapon before looking at the swords wielded by the angel. Slowly, the maiden slung her weapon onto her back. Perhaps a more diplomatic approach was needed.

1c7d51e3d8ee10355b719bc218d14df8.gif
Lana added hastily, "You can read the letter for yourselves. It's an invitation, and it has my name on it. I traveled here via my Gate of Time and, well, I think I might not have ended up in the right place..." she let a soft sigh spill from her lips as she put a finger to her chin in thought. These two did seem to fit the warrior role, and yet she had the peculiar sensation of foreboding. This didn't seem like the place a league of fighters would group together. Aside from them, the only creatures Lana had seen were those cute little orange things that waddled everywhere. But then again, the fiery woman and the commanding divinity could possibly not even be related to what she sought to find...

Her eyes trailed back to the pair as an apologetic smile appeared on her face. "My deepest apologies for bursting in here like a maniac. I guess I'm not the best at first impressions."

Mewtwo was a little stunned by the attitude of the monkey but listened all the same. Everything was becoming clearer now. Another Mewtwo must have fought alongside these people. How? He didn’t know but since he was here, he was going to find out!

“Right!” he said in response to the cranky monkeys exclamation, “I’ve learnt all I need to know!”

He looks over to the Croc and Daisy.

As Captain Falcon continues, he hears footsteps and as he looks to to see the orange-clad bounty hunter, Samus Aran, walks his direction Captain Falcon gasps excitedly with a gidy smile. "Samyyyy~!" Falcon rushes over to hug her only to pass through her entirely. Falcon stands stunned for a moment and slowly looks over his shoulder to see Samus still walking. He catches up to her "Samy? Samy! S-Samy! Sam! S-Samus! Samantha! Samuel! Sam-I-Am! Summersault! Cement! Semantics! Hey! Ms. Aran! Hello? Afternoon! How are you doing?" Falcon tries waving his hands in front of her, snapping, and trying to stand in her way but only passes right through him and doesn't even acknowledge his presence. Falcon was confused but decides to follow her into the livingroom/kitchen area, there he instantly catches sight of Ness happily drinking a glass of milk at the counter. Captain Falcon frowns and slowly to begins to come in behind him with an arm stretched out. Once he's close enough he swings his arm attempting to smack Ness over the head, only for his hand to go through him too. Nessy walks through Falcon with his glass of milk. Falcon looks at his hands for a moment and clutches them. Falcon moves his hands up to feel his face. He can still feel his face. Falcon looks to the living room area and sees Fox and Yoshi sitting on the couch watching the Land Before Time. Yoshi was crying as Little Foot's mother died and Fox was holding a box of tissue just for this moment, as Yoshi has watched this movie about 4 times and this part always got to him. To the all-consuming dinosaur, Mufasa's death had nothing on this scene. Falcon always felt somewhat...Uncomfortable with this scene...He...Knew why. Falcon proceeded onward to the rooms.

Most of the residents of Smash had share rooms so they were all assigned roommates. 3-4 to a room. Back during the first Smash Tournament it was originally two to a room, but as the more fighters came, then mansion had to grow and so did the roommate count. Falcon stops by one of the rooms and attempts to open it only to stop mid-way after figuring out he was just going to phase through the knob. So instead, he phases through the door itself. In it, he saw Ganondorf styling Zelda's hair while she sat in a chair, reading a book on the history of Hyrule. Link, Young Link, and Toon Link were sitting on the floor in a circle with coloring pages spread out around them. Link was coloring in numbered coloring sheets. It made him feel challenged. Young Link often used coloring pencils and stencils. He was always one of those 'light colorists'. Toon Link liked coloring with markers. They all looked fairly happy. Falcon gave them a wave but no one noticed him. With that, Falcon turned and phased back through the door. On the outside, despite Yoshi's best efforts, Falcon was sinking. He was sinking fast. Yet, he kept moving forward. Never looking back, even in his own dreams the man wasn't going to stop. Even with him being waist deep in the swamp.
