Structured RP

If I were to create a thought-out, structured roleplay -- say a Phoenix Wright-esque attorney roleplay -- what would be the limitation as to how/when someone posts on the thread itself? Of course, this is assuming that I have volunteers for an RP like this, and a structured set of rules. Could RP's have a win/lose aspect in mind, or would that be considered a forum-game?

You could have have the people post in "turns" to create a back and forth between players (with either you as GM or a designated player acting as judge to moderate and keep order in the court).

There plenty of RP's that have a winner and loser, though they are typically designed around combat. In a courtroom, you have to present evidence, so you'd have to come up with a way for the players to get evidence before the trial, then convince the judge/jury/etc. that, based on the evidence, you should "win" the case. Similar in concept, but the execution would be tricky if everything happened in the courtroom (thus leaving no clear answer on how the players got the evidence in the first place).

This would probably work as a 1x1 RP, but doing something like this in a group would be challenging, due to the 1x1 nature of attorneys in the courtroom.
