Stardom

Monday June 1st, 2020.
Lights, and cameras flashed from all over. Fans gathered and cheered outside in the cool, luminous sky of night. The time was nearing 10 O'clock post meridiem , hinting at the awakening of Los Angeles' night life, and nighttime traffic. Attention was only growing with every limousine or foreign car that passed the opened gates onto the red carpeted roads, and dropped off the stars.

Rumours had circulated Hollywood and the world-wide web for weeks now. Across the tabloids the face of Dearra Starr, and the Stardom Record Label had been stapled upon the covers. Word on an oncoming influx of new Stardom artists, all being signed to the label well-recognized for taking care of some of the greatest personalities in the music industry. What the media couldn't quite put together was why a company like Stardom needed so many artists, and in quick succession too. It didn't matter though, just the mere fact that these new faces had caught the eye of Stardom meant that there was something important about them. They were star-studded in some way.

The Uncaged Bandits, Cade Adams, Tony Sonido, ISLA, to name a few were some of the artists Stardom was rumoured to have acquired... with the grand "opening" of sorts being held at the elegant, and luxurious Louvre Banquet Hall in Los Angeles, California.

While the media continues to circulate rumours on just how each pairing, or acquisition will pan out at Stardom, the surefire Critics won't sit still either.

The new Stardom artists had been allowed into the Stardom Hotel a week in advance for the inaugural gala. While former Stardom artists may have had the option to live at the hotel, or in their personal off-site home, email from the Stardom representative had made it vividly clear that for the betterment of the new project, old and new artists alike would be residing at the Stardom Hotel. In spite of this word from the Stardom representative never did disclose who else was a part of said project, and with the doors of the hotel always open to some of Hollywood's brightest it definitely would've been difficult to scout out anybody else.

Artists abroad were flown in. If need arose, moving vans and amenities were provided for those who required it in transporting their belongings and vehicles. While there was no restriction on social interactions, or online presences, it was emphasized that artists don't disclose the whereabouts or reasoning behind the gala one week from their arrival. Artists were allowed to help themselves to the hotel's services, the L.A. activities, and more in the meanwhile.

***
Tonight was the night. Investors, business men and women, and respected artists filed into the Louvre Banquet Hall. Each one was dressed down classy, and expensive as they rolled up in stretched cars, and their double-R vehicles. Outside, men adorned in dark red suede coats attended to each car, and ushered the arrivals into the building.

The foyer was a large, and spacious one. The smell of lavender radiated throughout the room. Important men in tuxedos attended calls in the large bridge-room, men and women carried shiny silver platters into the even bigger hall past the two dark doors. Before any of the fun and thrill were metal detectors at the door, followed by bouncers situated all over going down the list and making sure the visitors were on the list of those able to attend.

Following the screening, celebrities are entered into the large gala hall, all coordinated by some of Stardom's finest. In spite of the chairs and tables to the side many of the event-goers found themselves socializing, and growing their contacts at the swamp of fame that included A-Listers, to E-Listers alike. At each corner of the room sat silver platters tended to by servers of the hall in classy white dress-shirts, ironed down dark trousers, dark vest, and bright white gloves to tend to the food. The party had only begun, and so fine-dine appetizers were all that were being served. Servers swam around the hall, politely offering some of the champagne and appetizers to those conversing.

In the background of it all, music filled the halls. Staple Stardom artists sounded through the radio, along with some of the newer additions. Bright lights continued to illuminate the hall, dancing from wall to wall as men and women rejoiced. They were here to see where all that invested money was going to anyways. Having a good time was a plus for them.

Even still, the night had only just begun.

Cade Adams was never late. Never. In fact, the girl made a habit of being fashionably early, citing a lack of traffic or a misread clock for her early arrival. She never wanted to admit that, in her mind, being on time equals being late. How absolutely stuck up is that? No one wants to work with someone who is a stickler for time. But Cade simply couldn’t help it. Being early allowed her time to think and gather her thoughts before flashing that brilliant smile of her’s and impressing the world that begged for her attention.

So when she woke up only to find that she had slept right through her blaring alarm, Cade panicked.

Certainly she could get halfway across New York City, through customs, and onto her flight in twenty minutes, right? The delusion was birthed by a lack of coffee and a horrible hangover, reminding her, once again, that partying the night before a major event was a truly awful idea. Her breakfast consisted of two Tylenol tablets and a chug of water before she managed to rush her way out of her hotel room and into the car that would take her to the airport.

Her wishful thinking was fruitless, of course. Unless she had somehow developed the powers of the Flash overnight, there was no humanly possible way that she would have ever made it in time for her flight. The car was stuck in the middle of another New York highway traffic jam when her plane took off.

By the time Cade reached the airport and got inside, she had already come up with a hundred different scenarios in her head of the consequences of her actions. What if someone was waiting for her at the airport in California to take her to the hotel and she blew them off? Or, what if her tardiness led to her dismissal? The logical part of Cade’s mind reassured her that those scenarios were unlikely, she was a Stardom sweetheart and she knew that she’d have to royally fuck up to get the boot. But what of her reputation if the lateness became a habit?

Her anxieties only continued when an incredibly kind flight attendant told her that the next available flight wasn’t for another four hours. Defeated, Cade found herself in a back room taking a nap to deal with the incessant drumming within her skull.

It must have been quite the comedic sight when Cade once again slept through her alarm. She narrowly was able to board her flight, the flight attendant from earlier waking her up just in time for the small girl to bolt across the airport floor like a bat out of hell. She may have looked like a child running after an ice cream truck but the concentration on her face and the suitcase being yanked along harshly behind her made her seem as if she was filled with the strength of a thousand star quarterbacks.

Once safely on her plane, Cade wasted no time. Her laptop was open and her headphones in as she wrote anything down any ideas that came to mind. She had songs to write and absolutely zero inspiration to write them. Cade thought that spending a weekend at a music conference in New York City would have brought her even a glimmer of creativity but she was as clueless as when she had arrived. She could only hope that returning to her home of Stardom would bring back her edge. Her mind went silent and she turned her attention to the time.

Cade kept a steady eye on the clock, watching the seconds turn into minutes turning into hours. There was no way that she was going to have time to get ready for the gala once she landed. Suddenly, she was thankful for packing cosmetics in her carry on. Cade hadn’t anticipated how difficult it would be to do a full face of makeup on a flight. The lighting was awful and she could only hope that her eyes were not deceiving her with her colour palette of choice. By the time she was done, they were fifteen minutes out and just two hours until the gala. It was go time and as soon as the wheels touched the ground, Cade was rushing through the airport.

Customs, for once, went smoothly and before she knew it, Cade was in a car on her way to the gala. There was no time to stop at the hotel, she had to make it on time. It was during another stretch of traffic that Cade managed to completely change in the back of the car, though she did manage to make herself look like a complete fool. It was hard enough for her to change out of her leggings and sweater in the cramped back seat but putting on an entire floor length dress was one of the hardest things she had ever done.

She was just finishing strapping up her heels when the car pulled to a stop and the driver informed her that they had arrived at the banquet hall. Making sure to tip the driver, Cade quickly touched up her lipstick before someone swung the door open and helped her out with a gentle hand. The show immediately began, her typical soft and playful features turning angular and seductive, the corner of her mouth turning up in a gentle smirk. The cameras flashed, paparazzi called her name and sought her gaze. Cade spent a good few minutes playing to their desires, striking elegant poses with the graceful smile and hinting flutter of eyelashes that she had become known for. There was something sultry about the cameras. Something that was also making her go blind.

Cade waves a final goodbye, throwing one final grin to the audience before being escorted inside the building. Cade blinked the circles of light out of her eyes as she smoothed out her dress at her waist. People were already looking and talking, some making their way over to make their introductions. The Stardom artists were a hot commodity and Cade, having been there for well over two years, had always been a favourite at parties. The guests would get her attention soon enough. But first, she needed a drink.

“What can I get you, Ms Adams?” The bartender asked as Cade approached, leaning gently against the polished bar countertop.

“Please, it’s Cade.” Cade corrected as she shifted her weight to her left foot. “And whiskey neat please, when you get the chance.” She asked sweetly, nodding to the line of people down the bar that were trying to get the bartender’s attention.

“No wait for you, Ms Adams. Only the best for Stardom’s best.” He said with a wink as he turned to make her drink. Cade sighed, rubbing her temples. People never listened to her request to call her by her first name. A few moments later, the drink was handed to her and Cade gave a thank you with a wave as she walked away from the bar. She took a sip of her drink, allowing the liquid to burn down her throat and into her chest.

The drink felt comforting, like a familiar face in the crowd of strangers. Even two years into her very public career, two years into endless networking and socialization, Cade never quite shook that strange feeling of being entirely alone in an entire sea of people. Certainly there was someone at the gala that she knew, after all she did know a lot of people. And she had friends in Stardom that would be attending as well. But Cade knew better than to seek them out, there was not a chance that she’d spot them in the crowd.

The networking began. Investors, agents, managers, fans, friends. Everyone seemed to want to talk to everyone. Cade smiled and made jokes and gently touched shoulders and gracefully shook hands. She had completely forgotten about the whiskey in her hand as she made her rounds. The crowd was getting bigger and the main part of the evening was anticipated to start soon. The group of businessmen and their well-dressed wives found themselves bored of Cade’s small talk and moved onto the next beautiful star, leaving Cade momentarily alone with her glass of whiskey that had gone warm from the heat of her palm. With a shrug, Cade took the rest of the drink down as a shot, relishing the burning path it left behind.

The day that they had all been waiting for had arrived and although Adrian would never admit it out of fear of losing his confident and cocky reputation, he was nervous. The Uncaged Bandits were no strangers to hard work and challenging work conditions, they did meet on Xbox Live after all- not exactly the best working conditions. But Stardom was an entirely new level of fame that none of the four men could ever have imagined brushing with.

The Bandits were very well acquainted with the public eye, be it in a positive or negative light. They hadn’t been around for long, not nearly as long as some of the other artists that were already in or joining Stardom’s elite ranks, but they had already made a name for themselves. The Uncaged Bandits were household names with their newest release, I’m On Fire, ranking number 6 on the Billboard Top 100. But out of all the things the boys of the band were known for, their music didn’t even come close to some of the other things they had done. Lloyd made the public eye by getting himself arrested, and Adrian was very well known for his… Love of women, if it can be called that. Nico and Link kept their noses clean for the most part. The controversy would have killed the careers of many other artists but the Bandits came out on the other side stronger.

Adrian got the idea that a lot of things were about to change. He was certain that Stardom wasn’t going to let fooling around slip. There was no record label with a higher standard than Stardom and while Adrian was excited for the big break, he was weary of the change.

“Alright, now give us sultry!”

Adrian adjusted his posture and facial features, shooting the cameras a suggestive smirk with a raised eyebrow. Modelling was always a side career for Adrian, music being his first. He loved it though, there was something so fun about flaunting himself for the world to see. Plus, having his face out all over magazines and advertisements and social media only allowed for more coverage for the Bandits. A total win-win situation.

He had arrived in California two weeks before their time at Stardom was due to begin and he hadn’t had a moment to rest since. It was all interviews and band meetings and modelling gigs. Adrian hadn’t even gotten a chance to get a taste of the local fauna. He was thankful for the distraction though, he would have been a jumble of nerves otherwise.

Within the hour, the shoot for the magazine wrapped and Adrian was on his way back to the temporary hotel he was staying at. He couldn’t wait to have a more permanent location at the Stardom Hotel, Adrian hated all the moving around and uncertainty. Upon arrival, Adrian paid the driver and made his way inside.

Alone in his room, Adrian gently hung up his jacket and grabbed a shower in preparation for that evening’s gala. He wasn’t the biggest fan of formal events but he proved incredibly good at attending them over the years. Appeal to the businessmen by flaunting his wealth, appeal to their wives by flaunting himself. Get the fans’ attention by interacting with them, get them hooked, keep them captivated, and never let them go. Now in the spotlight, Adrian was thankful for the hours he spent at his parents’ parties with high ranking officials in his youth.

After showering, Adrian lounged on his bed for a stretch of time, scrolling through his phone. His Instagram was abuzz with comments and likes on his newest photo, a behind the scenes look at the shoot he had just completed. Some tabloid had also posted a photo of him helping a girl into the car, captioning the photo with “Ellis’s new girl?”. Adrian couldn’t help but laugh. New girl? That would have required him to have seen her more than once.

The gala loomed closer and Adrian began getting ready which took much longer than anticipated. The other guys had gotten used to Adrian’s constant primping, Adrian never left the confines of a private room without looking runway ready. He had an image to upkeep, a job that he took incredibly seriously.

Soon enough, Adrian had gotten into the car and was heading inside the gala hall. But first, he had to play for the swarm of paparazzi and fans. Autographs were signed, questions answered, pictures taken. He could have stood there all evening just entertaining the crowd, but security had whisked him away through the elegant front doors and into the foyer. After greeting a few people, Adrian made his way into the main hall.

He faltered by the door, surprised by the sheer size of the party inside. People were already huddled in groups, discussing who knows what. He recognized a few faces inside, though none of them personally. For a moment, just a singular moment, Adrian felt out of place. The people attending the opening gala had money, fame, power. Sure, the Bandits were quite popular, but did they really belong in such a world? Adrian shook his head to himself. Of course they belonged, they had worked hard to get there!

Adrian stayed just inside of the doors, waiting for the other guys to show up before they made their rounds. They always networked best as a group, people wanted to see them all together. There would be plenty of time for them to break off and get their personal networking done. But they weren’t there as Adrian, Nico, Lloyd, and Link. They were there as the Uncaged Bandits, so they always went first.

Thwip, woosh, splash.
The sound of the ball falling straight through the metal hoop, and ricocheting right out of it was one that Isaac had come to reminisce. His left hand lingered above his head in the form of a hook aimed towards the neat ahead of him. Cheers sounded outside of the cage as fans watched the duel unfold. The sound of camera flashes and people narrating their Instagram stories was one all too familiar for Isaac especially whenever he was in Los Angeles.

Isaac bounced the 'Wilson' ball over to the kid... a boy around the age of sixteen who'd joined the other kids in challenging Percs and Dragons into some one on one basketball action. Though he'd only been out for a walk in the amazing L.A. weather Isaac couldn't help but accept the challenge, reminiscing his junior varsity basketball days in high school. Plus he figured he'd make the day of a fan in the meanwhile. What had started out as a single one versus one grew into multiple as kids gathered and struck up challenges of their own with the rapper. Isaac couldn't count how many games he'd played now, pictures he'd taken or basketballs signed.

"Aye, hands off, homie." He called out into the distance where a kid had tread awfully close towards the pile of clothes and jewelry he'd discarded earlier. His sights then shifted back towards the kid in front of him, a smirk painted onto his face as he received the ball. In spite of the sweat dripping down his bare back, his legs growing tired under a pair of shorts, he genuinely enjoyed hanging with the fans which was something not all artists could say.

'Tween, 'tween, spin, and cross. Isaac fell into his former high school motions, and finished the play with a lay. "Y'all can't be challenging me no more." He stated generally with a wild smile. With a marker tossed from the crowd and back towards him, Isaac had signed the final ball of that evening. He'd noticed the all-black Rolls-Royce wraith veering into the compound. It was time to prepare for the gala tonight, and while he enjoyed the social aspect of it all he dreaded the preparation that went into it all. With a final embrace at the fan, Isaac jogged over and packed his belongings under an arm. With his entrance, the dark vehicle disappeared towards the Calabasas where he'd been staying in the Stardom Hotel the past week.

****

Preparation for the gala had taken just over an hour. Basic makeup (much of which he had to express he didn't want), hair, and outfit. Trotting around the hotel room had been his mother. For whatever reason she still believed she was his manager, not that he was going to argue or anything. Isaac had originally opted for a more laid back outfit, perhaps a hoodie and a chain-- that'd definitely show his boogie. Still Gloria Wilde babied her son, and like childhood church believed the event was one that warranted her dressing him up. They ended up settling on the bold Burberry tux, adorned with several chains and black as the sub-colour.

"You gon' kill it, baby?"

"Of course, mama." Isaac sent a warm smile in his mother's direction, and a final peck on her cheek. He'd worked his ass off to get her out of their New York hood, and she'd supported him the whole way. He owed her everything and he'd never forget that. "When you get back to Beverly Hills let me know, ma. 'Cause you be getting distracted." The dressing department chuckled throughout the hotel at the joke, with Gloria crossing her arms over her chest. Isaac rolled his eyes sarcastically, and pushed himself up off of the makeup chair in the center of the living room. Hopefully all the dress-up shit would be gone by the time he was back from the gala.

"Y'all know where 'ya racks are at. Have a goodnight family." Isaac finished. He usually left pay for the crew in the hotel drawer, a couple thousand more than allocated as a tip. Sometimes it confused his help, other times they took it all. He didn't mind either route though, wealth was to be shared. With his exit, Isaac descended down towards the hotel garage where he continued into his car. Where he usually would've been accompanied by security, the transition from Atlantic Records to Stardom was still in a limbo. He hoped this inaugural gala would cement it all, and clean their shit up. In the meanwhile he was headed to the gala, singing along to some of his unfinished tracks and prepping himself for all what may be ahead.

The bright-wrapped Audi R8 pulled up to the Louvre Banquet Hall at the dot of 10pm. While Isaac was never a stickler for arriving on time it seemed things just panned out in his favour that way. With his descent, Isaac passed the keys to his vehicle to the valet, along with his usual thousand dollar tip. His eyes winced initially at the cameras, before adjusting onto the brightness of it all. His staple bright smile returned to his face, both hands propped up in various peace and 'W' signs. Perhaps he'd been enjoying it all too much as he was eventually ushered in by some of the staff, waving off childishly towards the camera.

At the enormity of the entire venue Isaac's eyes widened, mouth left slightly open as he took it all in. In spite of his years of fame, he'd never seen something of this extent held by a Record Label. They were usually stingy with money, and aimed to extort more from their artists than what they paid. This was a good kind of different. Following the metal detection where he declared his earrings, chains, phones-- the usual, Isaac passed towards the registration, and finally towards the door.

He bopped his head slightly as the music flowed into his brain, eyes scanning for any familiar faces in the crowd. He smiled at several older businessmen and women, some he'd done commercials for in the past, or was still signed onto endorsements. Around him the ladies and gentlemen roared in laughter as Isaac swayed them with his usual Bronx charm. "I'll catch y'all sometime tonight. Don't miss me too much, a'ight, Darryl?" Another roar of laughter sounded at his words. Isaac turned on his heels as the conversation came to its end.

He wasn't too surprised at what he'd seen next, the fiery red hair in the distance. His eyes traced the long, black dressed as the woman disappeared into the crowd. Keeping pace, Isaac followed after with a distance, eventually catching up as the woman all-too familiar came to a pause. None other than Cade Adams, someone who'd played a strong part in the beginning of his career, along with being a Stardom junior now.

"You gon' get wasted drinking all the hard stuff off the bat." Isaac sounded as he neared. As Cade's sights shifted over towards the voice, he opened his arms into a wide embrace, a hug that only reminded him of their time spent both on YouTube, and in song-writing with the ginger. "If you had told me Stardom was like this I would've left Atlantic sooner. These boys not playin' around here." He started, and following an eye towards her empty cup in the corner of his eyes, Isaac slowly guided their conversation towards the liquor stand towards the side of the illuminated room.

If anyone thought that Link Farrow was going to show up at the gala sober, they were dead wrong. Link didn't do much sober besides like, maybe long-distance driving trips. Or back when he was in school he would study and take his exams sober, but that didn't really count nor affect his adult life. Lincoln and Adrian both had a natural type of smolder to them, and he wasn't far behind his very blonde friend either on the carpet in front of the cameras. "Strike a pose!" Someone shouted, so he put one hand in his pocket and posed, wanting to look good for the press that already didn't take him very seriously. Drummers in most bands sort of fell into the background and faded away, but not Lincoln. He came from a family that was a very big deal.. It wasn't something that he could escape, plus he had charges on him to begin with. The tall blonde had been ready to go for a while, he was excited- he never went to parties! That was a lie- but he never went to parties like this where his actions and shit actually mattered.

If he didn't smoke, he would say something stupid or controversial and he would become a clown. It had happened before two years ago where he made some insensitive comment about another singer and he was almost cancelled for it. Just because he opened his big fat mouth when he wasn't chilled out. He vowed it would never happen again, and it didn't. With their latest single climbing up the charts, he was in the public eye more than ever even though he wasn't the front-man of the band. He still had a platform, and what he said mattered. He refused to put on makeup even though everyone suggested he did, he had clear enough skin and foundation was going to clog his pores- he learned that shit the hard way. He walked into the front doors and looked around, his eyes bloodshot but the eyedrops would kick in soon. "Hey," he called out and jogged over to Adrian, clapping his closest friend on the back. He was chewing gum to mask the scent of weed on his breath. "What the fuck is up, dude? How long have you been here?

"I don't think I look okay." She stood in front of the mirror, her stylist not far behind her finishing up curling the bottoms of her hair. The whole ensemble was pretty- the dress, the tights, the shoes, but she didn't think it looked pretty on her. She smoothed it out and frowned deeply into her reflection, before quickly turning away when she saw one of her eyebrows wiggle when she hadn't wiggled it. "Do I really look okay?" She asked.

The stylist smiled and touched her arm. "You look beautiful, Ophelia. Truly." Opie turned and looked over her shoulder at her reflection, and didn't say anything else. She grabbed her clutch which had her wallet in it and some other stuff- vicodin and xanax mainly for her anxiety and neck pain from the crash- and FaceTimed her mother on her way down the elevator. The woman picked up on the second ring, fox and cat-like features all done up. In the frame were her aunts and maternal grandparents.

"MAZEL TOV!" They all cheered at once, so proud of Ophelia even though none of them helped her get this far. Which made them even more proud. They all instantly began to try to talk over one another in Russian and Yiddish, trying to all talk to her at once before she would have to go and drive to the hotel. "Look at her, my beautiful- her hair shouldn't have been cut- when are you going to get a husband- that lipstick is too dark-" It was a calamity. Ophelia just smiled even though she could already feel herself crumbling. The elevator stopped on the way down and nobody got on, which made her paranoia even worse. She was now convinced a ghost was on the elevator with her, and she quickly said goodbye and stood stiffly in silence. Why did they have to be like that? Why couldn't they just be happy and not pick her apart? Getting off of the elevator, she walked out to her car quickly and climbed into the cherry red Porsche Carrera 2019. She loved cars- she liked fast cars too, the ones that purred and roared and could go from 0-80 in less than five seconds.

She sped off to the gala, took photos outside with that glassy trademark look in her eye, not truly smiling, just slightly pursing her lips and posing. When the next celeb came walking, she knew the cue and moved inside. Instantly, she was overwhelmed, the colors hurting her eyes and everything seeming so sharp. The lights were wiggling and her feet felt like bugs were crawling all over them. Her arms itched, the lipstick tasted like cyanide, the walls were caving in and she was going to crash and burn any second.

"is this a dream?"

It was ironic, really. Rosalind Hepburn’s music career was taking off—monumentally, almost. From being an independent artist and managing herself (which, she learned quickly, was damn near impossible), she had climbed the ranks of the music industry over the last two years until finally, she had everything she thought she ever wanted. When talent at Stardom had reached out to her, she had immediately accepted their offer to sign her on as one of their new artists—even if it meant leaving her family’s penthouse in New York and coming back home to LA.

Home.

The word repeated in her head, it felt almost wrong to call this place home. And that was the irony of it all. Two years of hard work and dedication, countless nights of staying up until the sun rose trying to perfect the beat and lyrics of each song, just to come back to the place she so desperately tried to run from. And despite getting everything she wanted, she was back in California. Rosie just hoped that it was all worth it. It was funny how life had a funny, almost fucked up, way of coming a full circle. After all, she had been living in New York for the past two years, away from her parent’s mansion in the Hills, away from her parents, away from everything. And it had been nice—really, really nice. She wasn’t forced to listen to the arguments, she wasn’t forced to sit a certain way, act a certain way, look a certain way, and she wasn’t forced to turn a blind eye to the bullshit family she was stuck with.

Until now.

“Look, Rosie, there’s the sun-“ The sound of her father’s overly excited voice rang through the headphones on her head as he pointed to the left of her. Why the fuck was he so excited? They were currently flying on his helicopter, him captaining it while she was co-captain, trying to chase the sunrise. It had been a habit they formed when Rosalind had been a young girl, a habit that quickly ended when she entered her early teenage years and her world went to shit. She had no idea why he had even asked her to meet up this morning, considering she had been avoiding him for the past two years.

But nonetheless, Rosie looked to her left and sure enough, she could see the sun peeking out from behind the clouds, illuminating the sky in shades of orange, pink, purple, and golden hues. Her breath caught in her throat and she was speechless, taking in the view as a strange feeling of peace settled over her. It felt as if she were floating, sinking slowly into a sea of numbness that she couldn’t quite describe. She could watch the sunrise a thousand times from up here, but it still would leave her breathless every single time. Her father remained silent, taking in the view as well. Maybe he was in his own thoughts, reflecting on all the fucked up things he had done in his life. Maybe he didn’t care about all of that, and was just enjoying the view. Rose didn’t really care. Taking a deep breath, she raised her fingers and pretended to click a camera, capturing the mental image of the start to what would be a very long day.

After they had descended and Rose’s foot connected with the pavement, she was sucked back in to reality. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, remembering the image of the splattered colors across the sky.
“Rosie, how about we grab breakfast? The day’s still young and your gala isn’t until the evening. Besides, I want to celebrate this incredible opportunity you’ve been given,” Edmund began, placing a hand on his daughter’s back.

Rose turned at stared at him, his words ringing in his ears. This incredible opportunity you’ve been given. As if she hadn’t spent the past two years holed up in New York working harder than she ever had in her life, doing everything on her own up until the very moment Stardom signed her. She didn’t expect him to understand, in fact, she wasn’t even surprised. “You know, I’d love to, but I’m actually really busy.” Rose said simply, sliding her sunglasses over her eyes and looking away so she wasn’t forced to look at her father’s frown.

“Rose, I didn’t come here just to see you for an hour or two, I missed you, honey-“ her father began. Rose whipped her head back around, her jaw dropping as she stared at him in a mix of shock and disgust. “You realize Ophelia’s here too, right? You came to see her too, right???” Rose half asked, half snapped. Her father blinked once, and then twice as a sickening realization settled in Rose’s stomach. “Of course I am, Rose, I just spoke to her last night-“ her father stuttered out. Rose simply shook her head and let out a single, dry laugh. “Yeah? Then why isn’t she here?” The words rang out and Edmund Hepburn had nothing to say.

“Thanks, dad, really great seeing you.” Rose muttered, shaking her head as she turned on her heels and walked away from him, making her way back to her car. By the time she had returned to the temporary hotel she was staying at, a few miles away from the Stardom hotel, it was close to 10 am, and Rose figured she could sneak in a much needed nap, and that is exactly what she did. She had managed to get about two hours of sleep, and would have gotten more, if it wasn’t for her phone ringing. Groaning, Rosie rolled over and sat up in the hotel bed, picking up her phone to look at the contact—mainly to see if it was someone she could ignore. It was her mother.

Sighing, Rose ran a hand through her thick, dark hair before she slid a finger across the phone screen, accepting the face time. “Rosalind!” He mother sang, and immediately a smile spread across Rose’s face. “Hi mama, kayf hålik?” she responded, asking her mother how she was doing in the former’s native arabic language.

“Zayn, al hamdu lilah. You look well rested! How was breakfast with your father?”

Rosalind could tell from her mother’s voice that she knew Rosie had skipped out on breakfast. There weren’t many things you could get past Maryam Multadi Hepburn. Running a hand through her hair, Rose sighed softly and rolled her eyes. “I didn’t go. I was tired and needed to take a nap, plus I wanted to get some song writing done before the event.”

Maryam studied her daughter and shrugged, not really caring if Rose did or didn’t spent time with her father. “Did you figure out what you’re going to wear? Please tell me you didn’t settle on the red dress…you need to stand out, Rose. It makes you look so plain,” Maryam said, her words coming out harsher than she had intended. Rose stared at her mother, a weird feeling settling in her stomach. She sounded like her grandmother, the one that both she and Ophelia shared. “Mmmmmm. I’ll send pics when I get dressed,” she said quickly before saying her goodbyes and hanging up the call. And just like that, Rosie was alone once more.

The getting ready process didn’t take too long. After two hours of hair and makeup, Rose was finally dressed and ready to go. She had insisted on driving, but a car had showed up last minute—a shiny, black escalade— and it had been sent by Rose’s father. All for show, Rose had figured, but nonetheless, she accepted the ride.

Rose was not sure what she expected from her first gala event, but it certainly had not been the plethora of paparazzi, each equipped with blinding cameras. As Rose got out of the car, her initial reaction was to walk straight past them and towards the building in front of her, until she noticed that all of the other celebrities were staring at her. Blushing a deep red color, Rose backtracked her steps, shyly posing for the cameras, letting one of her long legs peek out from the long slit in her red dress. She had went with the red dress, after all. It was her favorite color, reminding her of roses and bitter, red wine.

After she posed for a couple of pictures, Rose made her way into the building, taking in the sight before her. Everyone was mingling with each other and for a moment, Rose felt so out of place. But then, eyes fell on her and it was almost impossible not to notice Rose, for she was practically a splitting image of her grandmother. She was swarmed with people, asking her about her career, music, and personal life. Businessmen and women floated to her, genuinely curious to know about the independent new artist Stardom had just signed. And just when she started to feel a little overwhelmed, Rose remembered that she was on a mission.
Excusing herself from the current group of people she was talking to, Rose grabbed a glass of champagne, chugging it, before she grabbed another one. Eyeing the glass, then looking around to make sure no one was watching, Rose chugged the second glass, before she grabbed a third. She would need the liquid courage once she finally found Ophelia.

Opie. The name echoed in her mind as her eyes scanned the sea of people, hoping to spot her half-sister in the crowd, a familiar face in the crowd on unfamiliar ones. But she came up unlucky. Sighing once more, Rose pulled her dark hair free of the pins securing her hair into the fancy updo it was in, letting her thick veil of dark curls fall down her shoulders and back, nearly reaching her waist. Feeling much more relaxed, she found her feet moving through the ballroom, searching for Opie. She was so busy walking, she hadn’t even noticed the tiny, fiery haired girl standing in front of her.

“Oop!The noice came out of Rose’s mouth as she bumped into Cadence Adams, nearly dropping her champagne on her in the process. But Rose stepped back quickly, avoiding what would have been a sticky situation. Sighing in relief, Rosalind offered a smile for Cadence, her eyes darting to the man she had been speaking to.
It was Isaac Wilde, Rose had recognized him immediately from their recent twitter interaction. That, and he was one of the more popular rappers in the industry; it was impossible not to vibe with his music. Offering him a smile as well, she turned her gaze back to Cadence, her smile turning apologetic. “Sorry, I swear I didn’t see you there-“ Rose began, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. Giving a nervous laugh, she offered a smile. “I’m Rosalind,” she said, her gaze flickering from Cadence to Isaac as she formally introduced herself for the first time.

Monica flew into LA last week when it was made known their rooms were ready for them. She was edger to see what all Stardom had to offer, and the sooner she could get away from her mother the better. The two hadn't talked much in the last six months, and she wasn't sad over it. In fact it was the favorable option, but still having to be around her for her father's sake was a drag. Now that she would be across the country she had a good excuse to only facetime or call her father. He was the only person in this huge city she was sad to leave behind, and felt even worse it'd just be him dealing with her mother now...then again he chose to marry the crazy woman so he did this to himself.

While she'd never admit it to anyone there was one more perk to going early, her ex was filming in LA and was sure to to get a kick out of finding out she'd be in the big city lights. Getting signed to stardom was a huge leap for her, and she was ready to flaunt it in his face. She only wished she could see the look of envy and regret in his eyes, but that would have to wait for now. She was still only considered a rising star, while he was already an A-list celebrity now. She knew she'd have to work a lot harder to get him truly jealous of her. Who knows anyone who is anyone is going to be at the Gala, maybe he'll be there to see her. She felt a bit of pride scrolling through her social media platforms and whenever she came across things about him it usually involved her. His popularity took a hit because of the cheating scandal, and everyone was always asked questions about it in his interviews, and even one while he was on the red carpet. Between that and their fans going back and forth fighting to defend each of them, she knew that she had to be on his mind as much as he was on hers. The fact that the media wasn't going to let him forget his mistake, coupled with how she was now starting to make her own headlines gaining attention was just the start of her revenge.

Was she bitter? Yes! Was she going to admit that? No where except in her music. She'd become Stardom's heartbroken bad girl, and it was a role she was born to play. The media and paparazzi were all over her transformation, and the actress in her couldn't help but add fuel to the fire. The more people talked about her, good or bad, the more he'd have to hear about it too. Her music was the only place she found she was able to express her true feelings. She kind of hated the fact the the majority of the songs out right now were written when she was still with him, so they still mostly represented the old her. The foolish little fifteen year old girl who believed in the true love bull crap taught in Disney films, who couldn't see the heartbreak coming her way a million miles away.

Regardless, she's spent the vast majority of her time in the week she's been here in the studio all day, and exploring LA's night life till a healthy 3 in the morning. There wasn't much time for sleep, but that was for the weak in her book. She'd had such a surge of inspiration the last few months, and she needed the outlet. The studio for Stardom still took her breathe away every time she entered. She also figured she might run into and get to know a few of the other artists this way. She'd much rather bump into them out and about than in the Hotel they were all going to be staying at. That was the only aspect of all this that seemed really weird to her. To have so many artists living in the same building was odd, and she couldn't help but think it was their way of keeping a leash on them. She just hoped they wouldn't implement things like curfews or whatever.

The week came and went like a blur and perhaps that was for the best. Having too much down time wasn't good for her emotional stability. Before she knew it it was the night of the Gala, and she was stumped. What on earth was she going to wear? This would be the first event she did with Stardom. This was her and some of the other artist coming out event specifically for Stardom. This would be a night to show everyone who she was, and network better connections. She had to make a good first impression, maybe not good but certainly unique. Classy and glamorous where the things that came to mind. She was certain everyone would be in suits and long gowns. She didn't want to just be another one in the crowd. She took almost an hour to pick a dress, but she decided on a little black dress. Since she spent so much time picking a dress she had to rush to do her hair and make-up. She rushed down to the Valet and her car was pulled around. She'd just got it last month and loved it. However she didn't have time to admire her new whip, she just got in and drove to the Gala.

It didn't take Monica too long to get to the hot spot, and luckily an A-lister arrived just in front of her taking the attention off her long enough for her to get the Valet to take her own car. It wasn't something that lasted long as her platinum blonde wig and sassy black dress decidedly caught the cameras attention. She struck a few poses, and blew a kiss feeling herself really fall into the role she knew came with the territory. With any luck it'd be posted somewhere and once again her Ex would be smacked in the face with how good she looked without him beside her. She wasn't oblivious to the fact there were doubts in the media if she could be successful without him. This was it this was her proof. She didn't get to let the thoughts consumer her as she noticed Ophelia also on the walk inside and walked up to her confidently with a smirk, "Hey, ready to go inside?" She chimed.

While she didn't mind the cameras she knew what was waiting for them inside was much more exciting.

Felix Steven Tyler.
"trying to be better"

“What do you fucking mean my daughter won’t be able to stay with me at Stardom?” Felix yelled into the phone, weaving in and out traffic. God, he fucking hated LA traffic. He glanced in his rearview mirror, wincing as he saw Addison glaring at him. He mouthed a quick sorry for his use of profanity before turning his attention back to the road in front of him. “Listen, I made it very clear I wasn’t signing any contract unless Addison is able to stay with me, she’s under my custody. So if that’s an issue, let me know because I’d be more than happy to drop this whole thing,” Felix spoke into the phone, his voice low and strained. There was fumbling on the other line and within a minute, Felix got what he wanted. Smirking, he winked at Addison from the rearview mirror, taking the exit for his father’s house.

“See, Addy? Told you daddy has everything handled,” Felix sang, slowing down as he came to a red light. Addison giggled from her toddler’s seat, a funny addition to the back of his shiny, red, GTR. Everyone knew Felix’s GTR from his license plate. It literally spelled out FELIX.

He reduced his speed, driving around and singing along to the radio with Addy. He played whatever she wanted, it was definitely an ego boost that she was currently stuck on his latest single, Bloody Valentine. He was dropping the acoustic version soon, something new for the rapper/rocker, but that was what Felix liked to do. He wasn't tied to just one genre. The two bobbed their heads along to the beat, belting out the lyrics, which the three year old girl had already memorized. As the beat picked up and his guitar solo started, Addy shrieked in excitement and started playing the air guitar, bobbing her head wildly as she had seen her father do so often. Felix’s eyes went wide as he watched the sight and he burst into laughter, his body shaking as he watched his little rockstar do what she did best—steal his heart.

As Felix turned the corner and entered the lavish streets of the hills, Addy began bouncing in her seat in excitement, clapping her hands. “Grandpa!!” she yelled, automatically recognizing the grand Tyler mansion once Felix pulled into the driveway after the security opened the gate for him. Shutting the engine off, Felix slid his long legs out of his car, sliding his sunglasses on to combat the glare of the LA sun. Raking a hand through his platinum hair, Felix opened the back door and unbuckled Addison, scooping her into his arms. He could have let her walk, as he usually did, but he was about to drop her off at his dad’s place for the day and night so he wanted to hold her as long as he possibly could. Addison responded by wrapping her tiny arms around her father’s neck and laying her head on his shoulder while her tiny fingers gently pulled at the ends of his wild, blonde hair.

Moving to the trunk, Felix pressed the button on his keys, watching the trunk open up. He scanned the contents, his eyes passing his guitar case until they finally settled on Addy’s hot pink Grateful Dead bag. It had everything his dad would need, including her epipen and allergy medication. Addison had a deathly allergy against peanut, one of Felix’s constant fears.

Throwing the bag over his free shoulder, Felix made his way to front door, which was already open. Steven Tyler stood there barefoot, wearing a linen shirt and khakis, his long hair down. Felix shook his head at the image of his dad, wondering why the fuck he looked like such a hippie. “Addy!!” Steven cooed excitedly, and in response the little girl squealed and reached out for her grandfather. Felix didn’t hand her over yet and instead dapped his father up, dodging the hug Steven tried to give him. “Sup dad?” Felix asked, smiling lightly. His relationship with his father had gotten much better after Addy came into the world, she had repaired most of the damage.

“Felix, you look well, you excited for your thingy-majig?” Steven asked, clapping his son on the shoulder and looking up at him. Felix towered over his dad, standing at a solid 6’2. “Yeah, man, it should be fun.” Felix responded, setting Addy’s overnight bag down next to Steven. He watched as one of the housemaids came over and picked it up, taking it back towards the kitchen.
“Hey hey hey hey hey,” Felix called out to the maid, pointing his finger to the bag. “Be careful with that,” he said, watching the maid blush and quickly scamper off. He rolled his eyes, glad his sunglasses were there to hide his annoyance.

“Why don’t you come inside for a bit?” Steven asked, slightly disappointed his son was still standing outside of the front door. Felix chuckled, a bit apologetically as he glanced at his watch. It was almost 5, and he still wasn’t dressed or ready. “I would, but I was supposed to be at the shop to get dressed and all that like an hour ago,” Felix started. “But hey, you got it, right? I’ll pick her up tomorrow afternoon. And remember, the epipen is in the side left pocket. Do NOT give her peanuts, I swear to god dad, don’t even bring them near her. If she gets an allergic reaction, call 911 and then literally stab her in the thigh with the epipen, pushing on the top as you stab he-“

“You know Felix, I’ve raised kids before, I think I’ll be fine. Besides look at you, you came out okay!”
Steven said, taking Addy from Felix’s arm. Felix stared at his father and raised an eyebrow. “Steven, you didn’t raise me at all.” Steven frowned, and then shrugged. They were past that at this point. “Well you still came out fine,” Steven insisted.
Felix stared at him, letting his father think about what he had just said until the two started laughing. Felix was a shit show, granted, he was much less of a shit show than he was a few years back.

Turning to Addy, Felix gave a small smile and extended his fist out to her, which she responded by bumping it back. “You gonna be good for daddy?” Felix asked her, ruffling up her wild curls. Addy nodded, her smile faltering as she realized Felix wouldn’t be staying with her. “Gimme kiss,” Felix said, puckering his lips for Addy. Addy leaned forward and quickly pecked her father on the lips. Feeling reassured, Felix dapped his dad up one final time before he turned around and made his way back to his car. As he made his way out of the driveway and glanced in the rearview, he could see Addy waving and immediately, he felt calm.

Felix rushed through hair, makeup, and dressing. He refused to get his hair done or wear any makeup, he didn’t care about all that shit. What he did, care about, however was his suit. The lapels of the tuxedo coat were made to look like keyboards. Felix was nothing short of a fashion icon, in his own bold style. When he arrived at the Gala, he arrived at the back entrance, just so he could smoke a blunt to relax his nerves.

Felix slid his sunglasses on and took the final hit of his blunt before he flicked it out into the grass and made his way around the building, sticking his tongue out and throwing up the rock and roll sign as the paparazzi caught sight of him, immediately going crazy. He started walking past them, ready to go inside and get the night over with, until his eyes fell on the one person who could make his eyes light up the same way they did around Addison.

“Yo, Opal!!!” Felix called out his favorite nickname for Ophelia, the one nickname she hated. Grinning, he jogged over and practically tackled her, taking her into his arms and lifting her In the air before he swung her around. He was aware of the paparazzi going wild, capturing pictures of the pair, but he could give two fucks. Setting her down, he studied her and for a moment, his breath caught in his throat. Lowering his sunglasses, Felix took a good, long look at her. “God damn, you look good. What the fuck,” he said, laughing as he shook his head. “How ya been, girl?” Felix asked, even though they had just seen each other two weeks ago. Glancing over, his eyes widened as he saw another familiar face, Monica. Smiling widely, he held up his hand so Monica could give him a high five. "Damn, Monica! You look good too!" He said, in a friendly manner of course. Felix was a natural hype man.

Mark had just gotten off the plane from New York to LA and was now napping in his hotel room. Not at stardom though, as wanted his first experience with his hotel room to be after the gala. His things would be flown in fairly shortly anyways. Mark was quite nervous about the Gala. This would be the first event that he had been to since the 2018 billboard music awards, and he was not one to pose for paparazzi. Mark had just finished up his first U.S.A tour that had lasted about 2 years, but even while on the road he was not one to go to after parties or events. However, after thinking about it for a long time, Mark decided that going to more events and interacting with his fans and the media would be a good thing for him and his music. After all, its good if fans know the person that is making their music. After taking a shower and doing some light grooming, Mark started to get ready.

Mark had spent the last week or so planning on what he would wear to the gala. He was not one to buy dress clothes, but after doing some shopping and consulting with his stylist, he decided to wear a black tuxedo that was both classic and chic, yet progressive. Mark then let his makeup artist do some final touches on his face, making sure his eyebrows were plucked, his beard was the right length, and concealed any minor skin blemishes. After she was done, He then applied on his favorite fragrance, Tom Ford Tobacco Oud, spraying it lightly on his neck, cheeks, and wrists. After checking everything in the mirror one last time, Mark Left the room, ready to leave. He went down to the garage and got into his signature car, a black 1969 Ford mustang. If he was going to this gala, he was going in style.
1592876358656.png

Mark was trying to calm himself down the whole car ride there. This would be the first time that the media would be seeing him after a long time, and he had no idea what they would think. "Just act yourself. Your not there to play a part". Mark then pulled up to the front of the Louvre Banquet Hall. He looked at all of the people outside, crying his name and taking pictures, and took a deep breath. Suddenly, he had an idea. "This is going to be good" he said smiling. Mark then revved the engine on his mustang and the crowd went wild. Mark laughed, and got out of the car. Now because he was 6'5, Mark was at least one head above almost everyone else there. So naturally he stook out like a sore thumb. But all the nervousness had seemed to have been left in the car, and Mark embraced the celebrity persona.

After posing for pictures for a few minutes and answering some questions for the media, Mark finally made his entrance into the building. Mark had idea who he would meet, but his newfound confidence would definitely help. He walked into the gala hall, ready to make his first impressions with anyone he would meet. All of that left him when he looked around the room. "Holy crap, all of these people are way to attractive" he thought to himself as he looked at everyone. They were all rich, attractive, and probably more talented than him. Or, at least he thought that. "Come on Mark, you need to calm down. Maybe a drink?". He then eyed the bar in the corner.

He was making his way over to order something, until someone caught his eye. A short redhead girl in a beautiful black dress. She was with two other people, and was smiling and talking. "Holy crap, shes gorgeous!". When he arrived at the bar, he ordered a glass of whiskey and tried to calm down, but he couldn't take her eyes off her. After about a minute of alternating looking at her and his drink, she seemed to notice and met eyes with him. Mark froze like a statue. "Keep it cool man". He then gave her a warm smile and raised his drink.

dakota prince

The sound of an alarm clock set to go off at 12pm woke Dakota from her rest, her hand feeling around until she turned it off. Looking to her left Dakota scrunched her nose in disgust, tapping the man who gave her a decent time the night before repeatedly until he too woke up. She had spent the last two weeks in Baltimore with Ezekiel, and the only work related thing she had done was one show in her hometown. Spending time with her little brother was great and she still couldn't fathom how he had grown so much while she was gone, but she couldn't lie that she wasn't the slightest bit sexually deprived. Going from sex at least three times a week to none for two weeks was hard, and there was no way she was bringing a man into her little brother's home.

Right when she touched down in California a day ago, she knew the first thing she was going to get was some dick action. So here she was in her room at the Stardom hotel, with some random but attractive man laying on her bed while staring at her. Rolling her eyes at the man who shot her a goofy grin, she dropped her sheets and strutted to her washroom, smirking as she felt his eyes follow her the entire way. Her shower was interrupted when he joined in, and before she could even protest he was at work on her body. She could accept one last favor before she kicked him out, right?

"Thank you for the night and this morning..." she trailed off at the man standing in her doorstep, as she failed to remember his name. "It's Keith" he replied through gritted teeth, annoyed that she didn't even have the decency to remember his name. Shrugging off his annoyance, Dakota jumped back into the conversation saying, "Right, Keith. Well, this is where we depart and stay apart for the rest of time. Got it? Good, don't let the door hit you on your way out". Before she could even turn away, her wrist was grasped in his large hands and she rolled her eyes at her pick in men. "They can never just go, huh?" she thought, retracting her wrist from his hand, and turning back to him with her arms crossed over her chest and an eyebrow raised asking him to test her again. "Look, I just...I mean we had a great night. Is that really all you have to say" he replied, a disappointed and apologetic look gracing his face. Dakota almost felt bad for him, but she'd experienced this many times and didn't have time for this. "Yes that's it, now get the fuck out" she replied, pushing him out of her room as shock laced his face at her reply.

Smoothening out the furrow in between her eyebrows, Dakota locked her door while shaking her head. "So fucking annoying" she muttered, walking to put on her white air forces, and slipped her phone in her light grey sweatpants. She was just going to IHOP for breakfast so she decided on wearing a purple oversized sweater with light grey sweatpants, her hoodie tied over her head in attempts to conceal her identity. Even with the black sunglasses placed over her eyes, she still had to take pictures with fans between the time she went out to eat, and came back.

By the time the clock had struck 8 o'clock, Dakota's hair and make up team had her sat in a chair as they went to work on her face. Her stylist sat patiently as they went to town on her face, engaging in small talk with the other workers and Dakota herself. Dakota's eyes almost bulged out of her eyes when she realized Keith had saved his number on her phone, and had sent her a lousy text that read "hi". "If you're going to try and convince me to give you a chance you have to try harder than that" she murmured under her breath, blocking his number and making a mental note to change her phone number. How he got past her password was still a mystery to her, but all she knew was she had to keep his crazy ass away from her.

After an excruciatingly long hour Dakota was finally all dolled up, her hair in a half up, half down ponytail with two strands falling at the front. Her skin complimented the golden hue of her dress, and her feet were tied up in some black heels ( xoxo). This was most definitely fancier than what she usually wore to her events, but this was a gala hosted by Stardom, she had to show out. The dress showed a lot of skin, but it wasn't anything that she wasn't used to. Being sexualized in the media was going to happen no matter what she wore, so she might as well wear what she pleases instead of trying to dress like the virgin Mary. Ushering her team out she gave each of them a chaste peck on their check accompanied with tight hugs, telling each and every one of them thank you for their help in preparations for the event.

The plan was to relax until she was twenty minutes out from the gala's starting time and then start her journey to Louvre, but the next time she checked her clock it was already 10 o'clock. "Shit, shit, shit" Dakota chanted, grabbing the keys to her black and pink Lamborghini Urus and slipped her phone into her bra. The pink and black car was her baby, her favorite car although her other car was a yellow Corvette so there wasn't really any competition for the title in her eyes. With all her necessities in hand Dakota made her way to the hotel garage, cursing herself under her breath for being so irresponsible. Once she finally made her way to the car she dropped her keys and wallet in her cup holder, starting the car and speeding out at an unsafe speed.

The time was 10:23 when she arrived at the banquet, and she calmed herself from her frenzy before pushing her door open. Handing her keys to the valet, Dakota sent him a smile and mouthed a quick thank you before redirecting her attention to the blinding lights taking photos of her. "You're that bitch Dakota, don't get all nervous now" she mentally coached herself, smiling for the cameras until the next celebrity made their way in. Leaving the floor for them, Dakota was ushered into the hall where she was met with countless bodies filling every inch of the hall.

Dakota gracefully made her way through the sea of bodies, interacting with many different businessmen and women who could help her career in the long run. Of course she could never turn down a free drink, so a glass of champagne stayed in her hand as she sipped at it at intervals. At the sight of Isaac, Dakota excused herself and made her way to her close friend who stood with a brunette and a redhead that she couldn't recognize from far. "Ah, look what the cat dragged in. Let me guess, that suit is Amiri" she questioned with a playful grin on her face and her nose slightly scrunching up with the grin. Recognizing the redhead as Cade Adams, Dakota sent a wide and friendly smile to her packaged with a wave in her direction. "Oh shit, I'm Dakota, nice to meet you. I love Overcomer, you really do have a beautiful voice" she gushed, her smile never once faltering. Once she finally recognized the brunette she almost squealed in excitement and surprise. "Rosie, girl it's about damn time we met in person" she said, giving the younger girl a quick hug.

OUTFIT

Zephyr groaned as the sunlight hit his eyes. He was laying on the sand in Venice Beach to relieve the stress before the gala tonight. He wasn't too stressed about the usual networking but it was the carpet and pictures that made him want to throw up. The media was always prying in his life. Zeph loved the music part of the industry and he knew how much the media played a part in his success but all the questions and flashes of camera's gave him a major headache. He was interested though to see the new celebrities that Stardom had picked up. Zephyr was itching to collab after a busy couple months. Zeph sat on his surfboard just taking in the sun and the water. He loved the smell of the saltwater and was just relaxing. He actually had multiple meetings this morning but had called them off because he had been feeling lost these past few months and needed some time to collect himself before networking. After catching a few waves, he knew he had to go.

Zeph grabbed his phone as his phone buzzed "I just don't think it's going to work out between us. It's not you Zephyr-" Zeph closed his phone. He didn't feel like reading more. How classy that she had broken up with him through text. He had been on a couple dates with b-list model Lilia since he had been working on the soundtrack of a movie where she was basically an extra. Zeph ran through his head again of what could have gone wrong. He had immediately been attracted to her confidence little did he know that it she was an arrogant diva but Zephyr still gave her a chance only to be ordered around like a dog. The movie was amazing but Zeph had struggled explaining to the director on why Zeph didn't want to use his music if the actors were speaking because the piece he composed spoke louder than words.

Zephyr gave a call to his hair stylist. What color should he get for the gala. His red hair had been getting tiresome after these past few months. He stared at the colors in front of him most of which he had already chosen. His fingers ran over the colors before deciding on medium golden brown. It was actually pretty close to his natural hair color. Close to who he was BEFORE. The hair stylist turned Zeph around and Zeph was transported back to New York and playing Étude Op. 10 No. 4 at Carnegie Hall in front of an audience on the piano where he felt at home.

Zephyr stopped by at a the tailor to pick up his suit jacket. He had asked for personalization with some blue embroidery on his jacket. Zephyr always has some kind of custom element when he comes to his outfits. He had left the creative freedom to his tailor. He was pleased to find blue floral embroidery in a diagnoal across his striped jacket. Zephyr was chill unless it came to his clothes. They were his babies. It would match the button down shirt he had picked up. There were stylists but Zephyr was picky when it came to his clothes so he usually bought and picked out his own clothes. It tooke extra time but it was well worth it. He coughed as they put powder on his face."Is this really necessary?" The makeup artist told him to sit down unless he wanted to look oily on camera.

When he had finally finished prepping himself and his outfit. He headed out of the hotel and entered the backseat of the car. He rarely drived even though he owned at least 5 cars. The car pulled up to the banquet hall and he was immediately greeted with flashes. He gave a smile and posed for a couple pictures answering questions about his clothes A few investors came up to Zeph and he smiled and played the nice part to keep his standing with the management well.

He grinned when he saw one of his best friends, Cade. She was with Isaac and Dakota. Both people he wanted to talk to and....When he saw who was standing next to Cade, Zephyr's heart stopped. Zeph spit out his champagne which landed on the back of the suits of one of the agents , "I'm so sorry Mam. Something got stuck in my throat....you know a fly...in the champagne..in my throat..."His eyes were still stuck on the brunette in the red dress. He gave his heart-stopping smile to the agent and get himself out of trouble and do some damage control. The agent brushed it off saying it was no problem.

Never in a million years did he think he would see Rosalind Hepburn here at the Stardom Gala. The last time he saw her they were breaking up because she had moved to New York and essentially broken his heart into a million pieces. And god did she look beautiful tonight. He shouldn't have been surprised that Stardom had taken her on, Rosie had always been talented. He met her eyes for a second and he saw her smile with her one dimple. Zeph couldn't help but smile back. One of those real smiles he had not the fake ones he gave the paparazzi. He wanted to go over to her but didn't even know what he would say to her. Hey Rosie, it's been awhile since you ripped my heart out and took it with you to New York and the song I wrote about you made the top 100 Billboard. Yeah....he couldn't do that.

He turned back around towards the door trying to see if he could get fresh air. He raised his eyebrow when he saw Felix Tyler in a killer suit. "Hey Man, your suit is sick! I'm Zeph and we need to talk about your outfits because I need some of your style in my closet." He instantly recognized the two girls with him Ophelia and Monica. They were both amazing musicians in their own rights. He smiled at both of them being his usual friendly self.

His mother had always raised him to be a gentleman and would kick his ass if he was anything less than that. He offered his arm to Monica, "Can I escort you in?"

Leo Walsh
There were still comfortable six hours until the Gala. Not that it was an event Leo would be absolutely thrilled about. Okay, don’t get him wrong, he was pretty hyped to go there. It was him and his bandmates. Bandits against the world as always. But underground pubs, filled with smoke so thick that one couldn’t see the end of their nose, loud and possibly obnoxious, where the only thing he could hear was the band on stage, hitting their instruments hard and playing just for the sake of playing, that was his scene. It was always the place he liked the most, even after the Uncaged Bandits made it big.

Of course, he never complained. There was no reason. He made it and proved he never needed those grades his stepfather had pushed him into so hard or the endless football trainings where he usually failed miserably since he couldn't even run properly. He proved that leaving home was the right decision. What the fuck would he even do there anymore? He never was the favorite child. Never had the chance to be one. His mom was completely rulled over by his stepfather and she possibly didn't even know Leo was gone. Or maybe she knew and felt realieved. It was not like Leo was a wanted child. He was an accident and she let him know quite a few times. She never saw him on stage, never saw him perform and be actually happy. And even if she wanted to come, by some miracle from heaven, Stephen would never allow it.

All these memories came back. How Leo the class clown became Leo the rockstar. How cool was that, eh? He was sitting on the rather large balcony of his temporary hotel room, wearing nothing but a boxer shorts, his tattooed skin against the sun, nice fat blunt between his lips and a paper pad in his lap. He was working on something that quite possibly might be a new song for the Bandits. The whole scenery together with his smoke calmed him down. The view from the room was spectacular, overseeing the whole city, tall buildings everywhere which made sure that at night, the view was even more breathtaking with all the lights flickering in the dark.

A pen was hitting the pad in a certain rhythm Leo just came up with. “My heart is like a stallion, they love it more when it’s broken…” she muttered the line under his breath as this was exactly where he was stuck for last twenty minutes. He definitely needed to ran this by his mates. Maybe they would like it and help him finish as they always did. Their lyrics was never just one person but the team effort. That’s why Leo loved their work. Bandits did the best when they worked together and their most recent hit I’m on Fire was the best proof.

A slight knock on his door tore him out of his creative place. The pad landed on a small table in front of him and Leo quickly put out the blunt. Not that he was secretive about his lifestyle but he never knew who might be knocking on his door.

“Oh my god, you are not even dressed yet?” A woman, slightly taller than Leo, very slim and prickly actually, walked in, followed by a few other people. Fuck, how long did he spend on that balcony?

“Uhh…I was about to…” but he never got to finish his sentence as he was cut off by a sharp wave of her hand and was pushed in a seat, his face examined from up close which was way more creepy than you’d think. His attire for the evening hung in the closet, dry-cleaned and pressed. All black. That was Leo.

Soon enough, he was ordered around and at that point he had no idea who the celebrity was in that room. Wasn’t he supposed to be pampered or whatever? Because this was bullshit and he really hoped that Stardom had some more pleasant staff.

Once he was dressed, he was pressed in the makeup chair again. Two sets of hands started to work on him as if he was some fucking diva. And when tweezers got near his eyebrows and the girl started to pluck them, that was where he drew a line. “Dude, what the fuck?!” he called out and pushed her hand away. “Fuck it, I’m outta here like right now.” he mumbled and checked himself in a mirror, making sure he didn’t look like some porcelain doll.

At least he was able to drive himself to the event. This was what he actually missed. Doing things on his own. But tonight, he got to drive his Range Rover again and fuck, that felt amazing. Music blared from his speakers, he sang along the Uncaged Bandits’ new album, drummed on the steering wheel as he sped through the city to the Louvre Banquet Hall. He loved listening to their music, mostly because it was a proof that he has made something of himself. No matter what fucking Stephen said, Leo Valet took his car and then there was the red carpet and cameras. Leo was not Adrian or Lloyd and he was definitely not the heartbreaker of the band. He was just…Leo. He couldn’t do the sultry or seductive looks or whatever. His were the grins and crazy faces, a few signs with his fingers. All that jazz which brought him the status of a goof.

These things were exactly what Leo did not enjoy about their fame. Paparazzi and cameras and pictures and yelling. “Look here!”, “Over, here, Leo!”, “Give us a smile!” and what not. He was not fucking super model, but bassist and songwriter, that’s all. But in time, he learned to put on quite a show and gave the media what they wanted. But there was always that relief when he disappeared inside. “Should’ve gotten more high…” he mumbled, tucking his hands in the pockets of his slacks.

The place was already full of all good-looking people, a few of them Leo knew, sent a few smiles and waves before his gaze fell upon those, he was looking for. With a pep in his step he approached Adrian and Link. “Evening, ladies.” he grinned and held out his fist to both of them. “Where the fuck is Lloyd though?” he asked, seeing that the last member was still missing.

The plaster white ceiling of Isla’s bedroom has an array of small detailing that can be easily overlooked no matter how many times you could have entered the room. It is littered with small flowers, possibly roses-- or maybe they’re hydrangeas. The small flowers intertwined with vines and danced among small hummingbirds, frozen in time and depicting an everlasting scene of youth. This is what Isla had been staring at as dawn passed into morning, and morning passed into the afternoon. Her eyes were wide and bloodshot as she was on edge for what would be the biggest event of her lifetime.

Yes, she thought. There are 32 hummingbirds and about 125 flowers on the ceiling. Maybe 126? Should I start over?

Isla sat up and shook her head, gently placing her hands on her face and kneading her temples. A pop culture magazine rested across the room on her desk with a beautiful cover photo of Cadence Adams promoting her newest single. In the bottom right hand side of the cover it read, “Isla Duchesne, an up and coming C-list solo artist with a shocking backstory” in small lettering. Isla had given an interview to this magazine a week prior, glad for the publicity but afraid of the criticism to come. Was she stable enough, after all of these years, to be in the spotlight?

I wonder if Cadence Adams will be there today, Isla peered at Cade’s effortless airbrushed glow on the magazine. They had never met, although being in the same industry. Isla admired her music and was subscribed to her YouTube journey prior to her becoming famous. She read the tabloids, which is a bad habit of hers, and Cadence was among the names who had rumored to sign with Stardom.

Isla’s best friend and multi-talented stylist, Emma Lowry, came into the room hurriedly-- already with a beautiful full face of makeup on.
“Isla, get up!” Emma complained, tugging her out from under the covers and pushing her towards the bathroom. “Do you even know what day it is? And you’re going to sit here and do nothing all day? Look, if I could trade places with you I would, but the world does not need to hear my voice.”

“I know, I’m sorry,” Isla laughed, her voice shaking. “I am just extremely nervous. I’m sure there’ll be huge artists there and who knows how starstruck I’ll be?”

Emma sighed. “You’ve been to thousands of these California influencer parties that hold some of the biggest celebrities in the world, how could you be scared?”

“I know that, but it’s different when you have to be staying with them and working with them under the same label. I have to make a good impression!” Isla averted her eyes. “Do you remember what happened at that night club near Beverly Hills? With that girl, what was her name?”
“Monica, I think.” Emma said. “Yeah that was pretty bad, I’ve never seen you more irritated and uncomfortable in your life. But if I gave you any advice about dealing with people, I’d say to spark a blunt and fuck what anyone thinks.”

Isla groaned as she entered the bathroom with her scarlet dress. Looking in the mirror, she was not sure if she was truly fit for the lifestyle of a celebrity. The beautiful fancy gowns, the paparazzi, the impressions, the constant eyes observing your every action-- however, it was too late to think about that now. She had thrown herself into the public eye in order to live out her dreams and this is what came along with it. She should be used to the lights, cameras and action.

A gruesome scene full of blood flashed before her eyes, as if the mirror had turned into a portal overlooking her old, suppressed memories. Why was I thinking about that now? she had thought to herself. Her life had truly been a rollercoaster, from the absence of her mother and the death of her father she had exponentially grown and built a life for herself that she was proud to lead. Isla did not receive any freebies-- she rose to the challenge and now she is finally grasping at her true self and her dreams.

After a few hours of makeup, hair-styling and bickering, Emma had completed Isla’s look and they both peered into the mirror. “Look at you, so beautiful,” Emma cooed. “If I drive you, can I keep your car for the rest of the day? I have a dinner date with a cute K-pop star and if I’m late I will hate myself until the end of time.”

****

Isla stepped out of her white Tesla Model S and waved goodbye to her best friend with a look that said “Please don’t leave me”. Emma gave her a look of pity, then slyly smiled and sped away from the red carpet.

Here she was, at The Louvre Banquet Hall, bombarded by flashing lights and empty compliments. As she sauntered toward the entrance, Isla maintained her pearl white smile and captivated any eyes that had landed on her soft face. No matter how much she appeared like a rising star that had done this many times before, Isla regretted not bringing a 10mg gummy with her to calm her nerves. Nonetheless, she sipped on a glass of champagne and surveyed the abundant glamorous faces, praying there was somebody she knew.

She spotted a few familiar faces, such as Zephyr Walker, a sweet friend who she had met not too long before she signed with Stardom. Accompanying him was Monica from that night and a few other well-known celebrities who she had never met before. She then spotted Dakota Prince, a friendship that bloomed from a girl’s night out that could have turned into a bleak nightmare. Excited to see her, she made her way towards Dakota and the group she was with.

“Dakota!” Isla beamed. “Damn, you look beautiful!”

Isla then turned to the group of people that accompanied Dakota. Her eyes met with a woman with sultry hazel eyes and beautiful dark brown hair. “Hey Rose,” she smiled. “How’ve you been? We have to try out that new place in Pasadena for lunch sometime. I think you’d love it.”

Scanning the rest of the group, she was met with the face of a handsome man whom she had not made her acquaintance but knew him as “Perc”. Isla had actually listened to I Don’t Need Her as she and Emma made the drive to Los Angeles, drowning in traffic. Isla then met her eyes with a fiery redhead, whom she had recognized from the magazine in her room-- none other than Cade Adams.

“Wow,” Isla stammered. “It is so nice to meet you.”

It was hard not to get lost in the "City of Angels" yet Lloyd had found himself wandering only two locations, the Stardom Hotel and the Stardom Recording Studio. His most recent, and most public of his breakups with Kat Sinclaire had occurred only a couple months ago yet Lloyd found his heart beating out of his chest just when he thought he was over her.

"Fuckin' hell, Kat, what've you done to me?" Lloyd cursed under his breath. His telephone slammed against the wall with a strong impact, shattering the latest iPhone model into various pieces of metal and glass against the wall of his hotel bedroom. Having full control over the appearance of his room had definitely helped him in dealing with the heartache, hell who wouldn't have wanted to be a master builder for their own hotel? His eyes scanned the walls of his room once more, a simplistic gray design was the base of his hotel room, paired with walls adorned with various Uncaged Bandits plaques and Lloyd Alexander posters.

With a sigh Lloyd glanced over at the clock ahead of the bed, eyes dropping at the sight. 8:58. Dress and makeup would be arriving shortly, and here he sat in his pajamas, hair messy, and electronic parts sprawled over at the floor by the entrance of his room. "No way I slept in all day... This is bull crap." Lloyd cursed once more. With conscious effort, Lloyd mustered up enough energy to get the broom from the closet, sweep up the mess, and fall back asleep on the living room couch.

It didn't take long for his hair & makeup crew to barge into the hotel room. "Five more minutes, Laia." He groaned to the head of his hair and makeup crew, but in the background he only continued to hear the crew setting up behind the living room couch he was knocked out on.

"Get up or we'll have to force you, Mr. Alexander." The woman responded in a dry tone. Laia had been the head of his hair and makeup for years, someone who understood his bipolar personality, and various fits and tantrums. When Lloyd didn't answer he could feel the wiry hands of the slim woman against his arm dragging him towards the bathroom of his hotel. "Please, a shower, Lloyd."

With a deep breath Lloyd found himself complying with her words. "I'd give you a raise but I'm in a pretty bad mood. Remind me later, love?" Laia smiled softly at his words, and shut the door as he continued into the shower.

****
Following the shower, Lloyd found himself thrust into the dressing chair. Similar to most of the members of the Uncaged Bandits, his dressing crew had grown aware of just how much he despised wearing makeup. So, jumping that idea, Lloyd found his hair, clothes, and smell being completely re-imagined. His hair was combed up, and gelled lightly the way it usually was. Dior Homme smelled from his body. While it was a formal event, even as a child Lloyd had never been a stickler for tuxedos and clothes that restricted his movement. Instead, he found himself donning a patterned dress shirt with the top for buttons left unbuttoned, a pair of dark skinny jeans, and Louis loafers.

"Aye, Laia. Could you get one of your people to have a look at my fridge? There's a clear bottle of Cambridge in there--" He chuckled between words at the confused look on her face. "I need my elixir, darling. I promise it'll do more harm than good, I'm already in a fit. If I don't remember much I think it'll be for the benefit of the band."

The room fell silent for a moment. Lloyd had insisted on the whole bottle of gin, while he'd also be driving himself to the event. It was a risk, but at the same time Lloyd Alexander was a diva. If he wanted something he wasn't going to get it. In seconds Lloyd had the neck of the chilled, clear bottle in his hands. He sent a final wave towards his crew.

****
Surprisingly enough Lloyd, and his Porsche had arrived at the gala in one piece. The gin had definitely served his purpose, as he'd fallen tipsy nearing the end of the drive there. He could still feel the remnants of the burning sensation at the back of his throat, but he'd never been a lightweight either. With focus Lloyd was able to keep his vision from nearing, and held off the last several feet before parking his car at the gala's entrance.

Following his exit of the car, Lloyd waltzed around his vehicle and into the bright lights of paparazzi flashing. In spite of word from Laia to keep his drink concealed, Lloyd twitched in the camera and a mischievous smile painted his face. "Show us Lloyd, pose for us!"

"Aw, fuck it, you always know what to say, you arse holes!" Triumphantly, Lloyd brought the bottle of gin up into the air with a strong arm. He stepped to the side quickly, regaining balance lost from the action as he continued to tease at the paparazzi. Lloyd didn't take in much of what else was going on around him, and following an adequate time spent outside, found himself moving wildly into the entrance of the building.

"Keep your pesky paws off of me, lad. I can walk by myself!" He shouted, and shrugged off a stray valet worker that'd jumped to his side. After some arguing at the front registration, Lloyd found himself frowning as his bottle of gin had been confiscated by those at the front desk. "Fucking 5-figure idiots. Don't drink my fucking elixir, lad. I know where I stopped at!"

His next steps were more calculated by the ones previous. Perhaps it was the sight of Adrian, Nico, and Link gathered just inside of the gala doors that boosted his spirits. "Lloyd's right here you razadazzled flamingo." His arms flung wide open, and clasped down onto Nico's shoulders. Lloyd's lips were smiling wide, and though his usual pearly whites shined in the dark, his breath was strong of the gin he'd had on the way there.

"If I was a woman I'd have intercourse with all of you. I can't believe Stardom really got the both of you's to wear tuxedos." A grin stretched out on his face, eyes bounced from Nico to Link.

Bianca Sinclaire
They flew in last night. The very moment their plane hit the tarmac, Bianca felt that tingling of excitement all over her body and flashed her sister a wide cheeky grin. The two were in this business for years now, whether it was on stage or on the catwalk. And yet, Bianca was still getting those tingles. She loved her life they way it was and in her book, she and Kat must have been the luckiest people in the world. Models turned singers left the plane right to the black SUV with tinted windows which drove them to a hotel where they spent their night.

This way, she could just sleep in a little before she actually had to take care of her appearance and make sure she looked worthy of the Sinclaire name. The brand was not only her and Kat. It was also their mother. And though the woman was never supportive of her daughters’ new career, they both still made sure that the Sinclaire name is out there, loud and proud.

This very event kept Bianca bouncy. It was one of the flashiest events under Stardom representation. Their mother managed them from the day one but after they took up singing, there were certain…well, disputes, to say it politely. From that moment on, Bibi and Kat weren’t represented by anyone but they were mostly YouTube singers anyway. But once Stardom noticed them, their career skyrocketed. A few awards came their way, both for modeling and singing career. Their newest song Stand up and Salute was ranked among the Billboard Hot 100 and with every week, it was doing better and better. Bibi had so much fun making that song. It was strong and empowering. Exactly the definition of the Sinclaire sisters. And the video was so much fun to make!

Humming exactly this song, Bianca walked to the shower. There was not one problem in her world. That was the advantage of people who were looking at the world through pink glasses. Bibi certainly was one of them. Why should she frown or worry? To get early wrinkles? God, no! And definitely not today. This day was important and Bianca was determined to look her best. Shower was just a beginning even though she indulged in hot water far longer than she should, scrubbing her skin with lavender-scented products, washing her hair, treat it with a hair mask and conditioner.

Wrapped in the towel, she returned to her room and her gaze fell upon the dress. It was truly a work of art. Their mother outdid herself this time. Olivia Sinclaire might not support this new career but she still made dresses for her daughters as they were her best advertisement. And tonight, they would be wearing the limited addition of Olivia Sinclaire, coming in two colors, red and green.

Since the girls got the rooms that were conjoined by the bathroom, bouncy younger one hopped to Kat’s room just to make sure she was up and getting ready. As the coincidence would have it, not long after, their hair and makeup team arrived to make sure the sisters were all dolled up and even help them with their dresses since that was a work for at least three people.

Bianca’s emerald gown fitted her perfectly, embraced her body and highlighted all the right places. One look in the mirror and she felt like she owned the world. The confident smile never left her face as the ladies helped her to the make up chair and started on her face and hair. Bibi insisted on big waves and volume even though they were trying to convince her for either high ponytail or wet look. No can do, Bianca might have been the sugar part of the duo but she had mind of her own and was able to hold her ground when it came to her appearance.

“Is that pink? Are you going to put something pink on my face?” she asked in a sweet voice but the undertone was enough for the young makeup artist to put the lipstick away and replace it by a rich red shade. “That’s more like it.” Bianca chirped and let them finish the work. In the end, her whole appearance, not just the dress was a work of art.

Kat had her own makeup session in her room when Bianca entered. “Damn, Kat, you look like a bomb!” she breathed upon seeing her sister. “How about me?” she grinned and twirled easily, despite wearing devilishly high and fragile looking sandals.

It was maybe twenty or thirty minutes after that when the sisters got out of the limo and immediately took the red carpet by storm. They were not twins but were often mistaken to be due to the striking resemblance. Moreover, the fate would have it that the two actually shared birthdays so there was that.

Flashy cameras, reporters, fans, noise surrounded them and they both enjoyed it to the fullest, striking poses, pursing lips, smiling, together or separately and it was more than obvious that there two were born to walk the red carpet. Bianca thrived in the attention and made sure to give the reporters more than they bargained for. If there was enough time, she would even spare a minute or two to talk as they always seemed to enjoy her. Little did she know it was because of her being a blabbermouth. But not tonight. Tonight, they walked inside the Louvre Banquet Hall together, strikingly beautiful, ravishing and confident. They immediately got the attention inside. As usual. The Sinclair sisters were in the building.

Bianca immediately found a few people she wanted to say hello to. And some she wanted to avoid for now. Like Lloyd and his band. There was no need to stir the waters. This was neither time nor place. But seeing Isaac and Zephyr made her lips for a wide smile and she waved while walking towards them. They were in a bigger group of people but it didn’t matter to her. She just wanted to say hi to her most favorite people in the world. After Katherine.

Katherine Sinclaire

Katherine Sinclaire never did anything half-assed and that included stirring the pot. When she'd heard that her ex, Lloyd Alexander, would be among those attending this Stardom Gala she knew it was the perfect opportunity to make a surprise entrance. She and her sister had somehow managed to keep word of their arrival into LA out of the press and she couldn't wait to see the look on his face whenever he saw her. Was it a little petty? Yes. When weren't they though? The couple was known for their rollercoaster romance and public antics so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. In all honesty, Kat would be lying if she said she didn't miss him but she wouldn't admit that to him so soon. All she wanted was to waltz in and have his jaw on the floor. She'd already finished hair and makeup so now she needed to perfect dress for the job.

As she looked through the options she'd laid out herself the stylist came in and her appalled look said it all. "Katherine, you can't wear any of these to The Gala," she spoke which caused Kat to roll her eyes. She was never one to care for authority figures telling her what to do, mostly because she couldn't stand not getting her way. "These are all perfect, no?" she countered the comment, motioning to the three options again. "If you wore any of these tonight, you'd be dropped from this thing before it began. It's not a club," the woman shook her head, pointing out how revealing and skimpy the dresses all were. It was true though. She had been more worried about a reaction from Lloyd to care about anything else.

"You're lucky you've been my stylist since I was twelve, Kelly. Or else I'd have fired you for telling me what to do," she said, spinning around to send a playful wink to the woman. "Okay. You better have something good then," she added, motioning to the dress in the woman's hand that was still covered up. When she revealed the stunning gown and said it was from her mother's unreleased collection just for them she smirked. Olivia Sinclaire may have been somewhat of a controlling bitch but she always did want her daughters to succeed and look good while doing it even if she didn't support the career choice. "It's perfect," she said as she took it and stripped so she could slip into the tight, red fabric.

As if on cue, Bianca pushed through the door just as she was finished up. Kat's eyes flickered towards her younger sister and smiled in appreciation for the compliment. "Me? Bibi, you look absolutely jaw-dropping. When don't we though? You ready to do this?" she asked, a wicked glimmer in her eyes as she stood from her chair. The limo ride hadn't been very long especially because the hotel they'd stayed the night in hadn't been far away. When they arrived the flashes from the paparazzi were inevitable. "It's the Sinclaire sisters! This way Kat! Bianca!" Of course, they both complied, the model in them showing as they posed and played it up for the many photographers. When someone asked what they were wearing she laughed. "Olivia Sinclaire. Who else?" she said with just the right bit of sass.

The girls managed to slip inside the Louvre Banquet after a few more pictures and the reaction wasn't much different. Minus the cameras, they still had plenty of eyes glued to them and the whispers about their arrival were obvious. Kat's eyes scanned the rather huge event hall, searching for a particular someone. Since he wasn't very far from the Gala entrance her eyes landed on her target quickly. "I'm gonna go cause some trouble. Wanna meet up later?" she asked Bianca, motioning to where she was headed. She didn't wait too long for an answer before she made her way over to where the Uncaged Bandits stood, grabbing a glass of champagne from a waiter along the way. "Hello boys," she purred, her eyes falling on Lloyd. "You all look rather...delicious," she added with a smirk.

The sound of Isaac’s voice brought Cade back to reality and as she turned to look at him, her pink lips parted into a wide grin. It was incredibly comforting to her to know that there was someone she knew in the crowd of strangers, especially someone like Isaac. It seemed that whenever the two were together, they always had a lot of fun.

“Isaac, you’re here!” Cade chirped, practically diving into the hug. Even with the added height of her heels, Cade still barely came up past his shoulders. “I’m so happy you’re here, dude, now this party can really get started!”

Pulling away from the hug, Cade’s hands lingered on Isaac’s arms for a moment as she looked over his outfit once again. “They really have outdone themselves this year, this venue is absolutely gorgeous. And you totally look the part already, that suit is incredible. You look like a Stardom veteran!” Cade complimented, smoothing out a fold in the fabric on Isaac’s chest.

Just as she was pulling away from fixing Isaac’s jacket a sudden force knocked into Cade, causing her to trip forwards. Luckily for the short girl, Isaac served as a good anchor as she braced herself on his shoulder, saving herself from an embarrassing tumble. She felt a singular drop of something cool running down her collarbone and as she steadied herself, she gently wiped it off of her skin. Whoever it was who had run into her had already begun apologizing as Cade turned around to face her.

“What, is it because I’m short or something?” Cade joked in a stark tone, her face was serious. Anyone who didn’t know Cade would have assumed she was being serious. Her tune quickly changed when she recognized the girl as Rosalind Hepburn. Her name did not excuse her from Cade’s joking but her newness most certainly did. Cade knew that expression anywhere, it was the face that people make when they’re a bundle of anxiety but trying to cover it up with a veil of forced confidence. Cade’s face softened into a smile as a gentle laugh escaped her lips.

“Please don’t apologize, it's all good hon! Rosalind Hepburn, right? I’ve heard some of your stuff, you have serious talent. It’s no wonder that Stardom recruited you.” Cade reassured with a shrug, the semi-sleeves of her dress gracefully slipping further down her pale arms. Realizing that Cade hadn’t introduced herself, she held out a hand. “Cade Adams, at your service. It is truly a pleasure to meet you, even if you did just run into me. Literally.”

Cade put a little bit of distance between her, Isaac, and Rose. The distance allowed Cade to notice a piece of Rose’s long hair going rogue and she held a finger up in pause before she stretched onto the tips of her toes to brush the piece back into place, rejuvenating the curl with a quick twirl of the strand around her manicured finger. Bouncing back onto her heels, Cade nodded with a grin. “Sorry, you had a piece of hair out of place there, which is absolutely beautiful, by the way! Your whole look is, really. You look like a Stardom vetran! I’m going to have to get some tips from you sometime. I swear, you newbies should be fucking models.”

She fixed a few other strands of Rose’s hair as she spoke, the gentle smile never once leaving her lips. She remembered what it was like when she first joined Stardom, how absolutely terrifying it was and how much she would have loved to have someone in her corner from the get go. She met Zephyr shortly after she joined Stardom but as much as she loved him, there was just something about getting hyped up by another girl that really gave a boost to the confidence.

Two new people joined the group, both girls in absolutely stunning attire. The first girl was easy to recognize, the face of Dakota Prince was nearly impossible to forget. She clearly knew Isaac and as she approached, Cade made some room for her in the group beside him. The second girl took Cade a moment to recognize as Isla Duchesne, another one of the new girls.

She stood quietly as they said hello to their friends, her eyes drifting across the crowd behind them subconsciously. The bar once again caught her attention, partially because of the empty glass in her hands but also because of the set of eyes that were watching her. The man was sitting at the bar, leaving Cade to wonder if he was a businessman or one of the new stars; it was nearly impossible to tell from across the room. She wasn’t certain how long the man had been looking or if he was specifically looking at her. Cade wouldn’t have been surprised if he had been checking out the other girls, they really looked stunning and Cade was starting to regret getting dressed in the back of a car. Cade held the man’s gaze for a moment, offering a warm smile his way, giggling gently as he raised his glass to her.

Her attention was pulled back into the group as Dakota spoke directly to her, complimenting her new song, Overcomer. Cade grinned, a soft blush crawling across her cheeks as it always did when people complimented her abilities.

“Thank you so much, it was such a fun song to write and sing. I’m Cade, though I’m clearly you already know that.” Cade laughed, shaking Dakota’s hand. She then turned her attention to Isla who was looking through Isaac and herself. “Isla, right? Your sound is absolutely incredible, we totally have to work together at some point. I’m Cade.” She introduced, also shaking Isla’s hand.

Cade took a second to take in the whole group. They were all so beautiful, almost intimidatingly so. Rose had a timeless elegance to her, like she could have walked right off the set of a 1960s Hollywood movie. Dakota looked like she had strutted right out of the centerfold of a magazine, her dress revealing and hiding sections of her beautiful body as if she was a walking-talking art piece. Isla shared a similar vibe to Rose, though somehow she felt more modern and youthful, almost like a breath of fresh air. And then there was Isaac, standing with such a natural confidence and style to him that Cade was certain he was capturing the attention of many of the girls walking by. Cade turned her attention subtly to herself, suddenly feeling incredibly underdressed.

“Come on,” Cade said suddenly, linking her left arm with Isaac’s and her right arm with Rose’s, “I need a refill and we need to get this party started.” She added with a wink, guiding the group over to the bar. Cade had an almost strange habit of treating everyone like she had known them forever and the new girls were absolutely no exception. She also had a habit of taking control, clearly seen as she guided the group across the room. Another gir, someone Cade recognized as Bianca Sinclaire, was waving to the group caught her eye. Cade nodded for her to meet her and the rest of the group at the bar, her arms still linked with Isaac and Rose.

Once at the bar, Cade leaned against the surface. “Hit me with another whiskey neat, please.” She asked politely, her manicured nails tapping the surface gently to the beat of the music. The bartender slides the drink across the bar and Cade takes it in her hand, placing a bill on the table as a tip. Flipping around, Cade takes a sip as she leans into the bar with the small of her back. The man from earlier was still sitting at the bar and after catching him looking again, Cade holds his stare and waves him over.

“Hey handsome, come join us!” Cade called, her voice loud enough to be heard over the music playing in the hall. At a closer distance, Cade thought she recognized him from somewhere, eventually placing him as one of the new artists. She understood why, his music was wonderful but he also had the elegance and style to match. The Stardom men had a reputation of being suave and she had to admit, he fit the criteria. Recognizing him, Cade attempted to remember his name. “You’re one of the newbies! It's Mark, right? Or do you go by Tony? I’m Cade Adams, it's a pleasure to meet you!” Cade introduced gleefully, holding her hand out for a handshake.

Ophelia wasn't super close to Monica- not yet- but they were certainly 'friends'. In Ophelia's eyes they were more friendly than friends. There were only a very select few whom she allowed close enough to be in that category, and Monica wasn't one of them. However, when she saw her, she gave a fleeting smile and seemed distracted. She seemed twitchy. "Yeah, I'm more than ready." The two gorgeous young women stepped inside and Ophelia dug crescent moons into her palm, wanting to just go home and smoke a bowl and lie in bed. She did much better in smaller environments with less people.

Ophelia heard him before she saw him, and she whipped around and was instantly wrapped in warmth and light. Every single thought went flying out of her mind, cleansed away by the warmth of her single-handedly closest person in her life. On instinct her arms went around him, and she pressed her face down into his hair, her cheek resting on the side of his head as her legs dangled in the air from him being so much taller than her. When he put her down, she grabbed his arms and then his hands just for a few brief moments before letting go. Her father's side of the family already had them married off in their minds, but her mother's side was much more hesitant. You just can't. He's not Jewish, he won't treat you right. Their opinions didn't matter, what mattered was that Ophelia was fucking nuts and not fit to be in any type of stable relationship. She sort of swayed a bit and looked up at him through her lashes, batting them at him as he looked her over. "Monica looks really pretty." Ophelia agreed and smiled at the other girl.

It was like when Felix was there, she could yank her head out of the clouds for more than a minute.

Then came another face- one that Ophelia had never seen before. He was sharp looking- sharp sense of style, but everything else was so soft. He was beautiful; like, grandma's vase that you're not allowed to breathe on beautiful. Ophelia felt like she had to avert her eyes just because it would be insulting to even gaze upon his face. It may have sounded dramatic, but that's how she felt. Her hand reached out and slid along the inside of Felix's forearm before nestling into his own, squeezing it gently. Her palms were clammy- she was tweaking.

lincoln farrow
token stoner
"Hello, babes." Link said in his obnoxious accent, his trade-marked dimpled smile all the rage. Lincoln sort of had a way of standing that he was naturally posing, like something out of an old Hollywood movie. Even when he wasn't doing anything- making food, lounging around- it was always in some sort of pose that was out of a painting. A few of his exes always pointed that out and thought it was adorable.. none of them would be there tonight. Link went out of his way to date and court girls who weren't famous by any means.

His face lit up when he smelled the smoke on Nico. "Fuck yeah man, it's gonna be a good ass night. I one rolled in my jacket pocket if you wanna step out later." He winked over-exaggeratedly, which made him laugh a bit too long for his liking but he thought it was so stupid it was funny. "Nah but for real, where the fuck is Lloyd." It was more of a statement than a question, his tall head looking around and sweeping over the radius of the space they were in. So far, no luck. "Where is the little bollix?"

Then came the shouting, and Link turned around and opened his arms, giving Lloyd a warm bro-hug. "Babes! There you are!" He smiled with warm, happy eyes. "You pregamed too, huh? Damn Adrian, want a hit?" He asked and lightly flashed the inside of his suit jacket, raising his brows playfully and wiggling them like the worm. Kat's voice cut through the noise and Link physically cringed, his shoulders almost going up to his ears as he looked at Nico. "Oh god, she's behind us isn't-" He cut himself off when the redhead came striding up. There were multiple reasons why Link didn't like Kat. The biggest one was the number that she and Lloyd had done on each other.

"Heyyyy... Kat..!" He said her name and lightly straightened up and swayed, being fake peppy. He saw Nico's expression and suddenly lifted up his wine glass to stop himself from bursting into laughter. "How are you tonight?" He asked, his voice more husky after letting the alcohol run down his throat.

Adrian knew Stardom artists were beautiful, after all they were some of the most public figures in the world, of course they had to be visually appealing. But the pictures and album covers and magazine shoots did nothing in comparison to the faces of the people around them. Even those attending who were not stars had a certain aura about them, like they were weightless and floating across the floor, the jewels hanging from the delicate necks of beautiful women competing with the sparkle of the stars outside. There was little more that Adrian loved than beautiful women and the gala was in no short supply.

His eyes were trained on a few different women entering the hall when a face obscured his vision. Instead of any of the people he had imagined approaching him, the person who had approached was the last person Adrian had desired.

“Link,” Adrian greeted with a nod, stiffening slightly as the movement to clap him on the back caused a waft of a very specific scent across his nose. Adrian squinted slightly, noting the glassy eyes and gum chewing. With a sigh, Adrian shook his head. “I got here a while ago. You couldn’t show up sober? We have a lot of work to do tonight and the last thing I want is you and Nico bursting out laughing in the middle of an important interview.”

His words were bitter and incredibly hypocritical. Everyone had their desires, something that was irresistible to them. Adrian was no exception. If one of the many girls he had been eyeing had asked him to leave, he would have most certainly taken the chance. But because no one had, because he was still in that room filled with strangers, Adrian somehow felt superior.

Adrian was about to ask where the other two men were when, as if on cue, Nico’s voice rang through the air. Adrian raised an eyebrow at Nico’s choice of greeting. Ladies? He chuckled softly as he bumped his fist to Nico’s, wondering if he had also turned to some sort of substance to take the edge off. His bandmates were trustworthy. Even high or drunk, Adrian knew (or at least really hoped he knew) that they wouldn’t make complete fools out of themselves.

Lloyd made his presence known long before Adrian even saw him, his voice ringing clearly through the orchestra of others. A pit formed in the man’s stomach at the mention of ‘elixir’ and Adrian was instantly positive that he was in fact the only sober one of the band. It was a rare day when the youngest member was the one in control but it seemed as if the gala was his time to shine.

“Lloyd, man, you’re well on your way to being out of it, what the hell were you thinking?” Adrian asked, his accent growing thicker with the worry. There was a lot riding on the boys, not only as Stardom newbies but also as the only band in their ranks. Adrian never cared if he had to take the lead at social events, in fact he often found himself networking better when he was the one in control. But on a night as big as their first official Stardom gala, Adrian was nearing pissed that the others hadn’t shown up more… Put together. Babysitting duty was most certainly not what he had been looking forward to that evening.

Adrian was trying to figure out what to say when he was saved from the effort by none other than Katherine Sinclaire. He felt his breath hitch slightly in his throat as he watched her walk over, his eyes tracing every elegant curve and bend. Kat was off limits of course, given her rather rocky past with Lloyd, and Adrian respected that. Lloyd was just lucky that he got to her first otherwise he never would have hesitated. But was it impossible not to take her in.

It hit him shortly after Kat came into sight that the upcoming conversation could be weird. Like incredibly awkward. Her and Lloyd were off again, or maybe on again? Adrian couldn’t keep them straight. But he was fairly certain the two weren’t dating at the present, making his next move somewhat okay. After she said hello, Adrian smirked and took her hand, twirling her gently before placing a soft kiss on the smooth skin of the back of her hand. Link was not the smoothest of the bunch and Nico didn’t need the extra stress of dealing with Kat. Not that Kat was a bad person, she just had a large personality So Adrian took it upon himself to at least attempt to distract her, partly from Link’s horrible accents but mostly to give Lloyd some time to collect himself.

“Katherine Sinclaire,” he greeted, gently releasing her hand. “Looking radiant as always. I hope you’ve had a wonderful evening thus far, though the party certainly got far more alive with you in the room.”

Adrian covertly looked over to Lloyd, trying to assess where his mind was at. Should he continue talking or let Lloyd take the reins? What about Link? He looked on the verge of busting a gut or self-combusting or maybe both. He could only imagine the headlines: ‘Stardom band Uncaged Bandits makes an absolute fool of themselves at the opening gala; immediately were released from their contract’.

“So, what brings you over? Have you only just arrived?” Adrian asked, trying to keep his questions ambiguous and open ended, though he could feel the tension in the group continuing to rise. He could only hope that someone else would jump in and help him. Maybe the others were right to come under the substance, Adrian felt as if he could really use a drink.

Felix Steven Tyler.
"trying to be better"

Almost as soon as Felix’s attention was fully on Ophelia and Monica, a voice rang out from beside the trio and complimented Felix’s unique outfit, which was a true ode to his creative and forward sense of style. Turning his head, his eyes fell on a face that he was not too familiar with, and the corners of Felix’s mouth turned up in a wolfish grin. He studied the guy standing before them and racked his brain, trying to figure out who he was, god—Felix was so fucking bad with names.

But it clicked, and Felix’s grin widened as he realized it was Zephyr Walker, whom Felix had never met up until now. It was clear Felix was not the only one who liked to dress differently, and he was surprised with a sudden rush of respect he felt for the golden haired male in front of them. “Thanks, man,” Felix responded warmly, holding his arm out and giving Zephyr a quick, firm handshake. “Zephyr, right? You got a sick ass pair of lungs on you, you can sing, man.”

“I fuck with your jacket, and the whole look honestly. Especially the hair. I’ll definitely let you take a peek at my closet if you teach how to get my skin that smooth…what the fuck do you use? I'm Felix by the way,”
Felix said with a friendly laugh, his shoulder’s relaxing with Zephyr’s arrival. Instantly, Felix liked the guy. He seemed genuine, someone who Felix would not mind being around.

As Ophelia’s hand slipped into Felix’s, his eyes darted down quickly, watching as she squeezed down gently with trembling fingers. Felix’s eyes darted back up to her face and instantly he could tell that she was nervous, and honestly, he felt it too. His hand tightened around hers, squeezing back as if to let her know that he felt it too, and that he was right here next to her.

His mind was already scheming ways of how to pull Ophelia away from the party later on and steal her attention away from everybody else, even if it was just a for few minutes. His eyes flickered to Zeph extending his arm to Monica, and he couldn't help but be impressed by the gentlemanly gesture. Felix gently nudged Ophelia forward, still holding her hand with his right one. He raised their hands over her head, crossing her own arm over her body as he pushed her in front of him. His left hand went to her waist and he lowered his lips to her ear. “He looks like he knows what he’s doing, think I should say fuck it and carry you in bridal style?” Felix whispered, just for Ophelia to hear, eager to hear the comforting sound of her laugh.

Straightening up, Felix dropped her hand and came to her side, placing his hand gently on the small of her back before he nodded to the door. “Let’s check this shit out,” he said, leading the way into the ballroom. His hand remained on Ophelia’s back as the four of them entered the ballroom, presenting themselves to the people already present.

Felix’s eyes soaked in the glamour of the room before him, taking in the chandelier, the elegant decor, the fancy ties, the evening gowns, the cocktail waiters and waitress, and the whole grand flair of it all. He felt so weird, but he certainly was not going to pretend to be someone he wasn’t and start running around the room, kissing people’s ass. He was cool with where he was at and who he was with.

As his eyes scanned the room, they settled on a face that wasn’t familiar, but suddenly was. They resembled each other more than Felix had thought they would in person. Glancing from Rosalind to Ophelia, Felix wondered how Ophelia felt about seeing her sister. From what Ophelia had told him, there was definitely tension. His eyes continued scanning the room until the settled on Lloyd Alexander, the recent reason why Felix was trending on the tabloids. The british pretty boy had a certain disliking for Felix that sprung out of no where, and while Felix truly did not give two shits, he found it to be entertaining. He figured he’d make his presence known later. Right now, he was focused on making sure Ophelia felt comfortable.

Kiana Carter

"Kiana, you can't be late! This is a big deal," Sasha yelled from the bedroom of the rather large suite. Kiana was currently in the bathroom putting the finishing touches on her makeup and taking a breather from her sister's lecturing. Sasha had always been the more mature and level-headed one of the Carter siblings and though Kiana wasn't overly wild herself, she wasn't as 'professional' as Sasha had seemed to become. She sometimes got too chatty and she didn't always think before doing things. After all, she was just a girl from The Bronx last year and now here she was attending a Stardom Gala as one of their many new artists. She wasn't used to having so many eyes on her especially because her fame had seemed to skyrocket overnight. It was overwhelming but Kiana was more than grateful for the chance to stay in a place like this and work with people like the Stardom team. She was also excited to meet some of the other talents and see old friends.

She had heard through the grapevine that her old childhood friend, Isaac Wilde, would be there and she was hoping to run into him. Not only had he been a help to her and Sasha when Jamal died but he'd kept in touch over the years. He'd flown her out a few times and even got her studio time to record her first hit song which is what ultimately landed her here. Kiana felt like she owed him so much for believing in her and giving her a chance to prove she was good enough. It had been a while since they last saw each other but they talked through text or social media here and there. Hopefully, he could introduce her to some new people so she wasn't so lost at this huge event.

After adding some gloss to her lips she finally emerged from the bathroom and straightened out the dress she'd found waiting on her bed when she'd gotten to the suite. She assumed it was courtesy of Stardom but there was no note so there was really no telling. It was better than any dress she could afford though. "I got this, Sasha. I know what I'm doing," she said the words with some confidence but it wasn't entirely true. "Will you be gone before I get back?" she asked, slipping some heels on and turning to face her sister. "Yeah. I have to leave tonight and get back to Sean. He's probably freaking out taking care of Jay all alone," she laughed, referring to Sasha's two-year-old son. "I'm gonna miss you guys. I hate that I am missing his birthday," she frowned at the thought. "Don't be. This is an amazing opportunity, Key. I am so proud of you," the older girl said in a reassuring tone.

Her car arrived shortly after and she said her goodbyes to her sister before taking a deep breath and getting ready for one of the biggest nights of her life. When she first pulled up at the Louvre she was wide-eyed. The cameras flashing were seen even behind the dark tint on the car windows, so many stars and big names in the industry walking up to the doors, posing for pictures. It almost made her feel too little to be here. Did she really belong here? Nevertheless, she couldn't back out now and soon her door was pulled open by a gentleman dressed in a black tuxedo. She stepped out and thanked him just before being bombarded by cameras and questions. "What is your name? Kiana Carter?" "How do you feel about being here tonight?" "Are you one of Stardom's new artists?" She couldn't keep up with all the attention at once. "I feel honored to be here and I look forward to working with Stardom's best," she managed to spit out as she finally reached the doors.

She almost felt like a fish when someone is tapping on the tank, trapped and overwhelmed. She pushed through the door, clearly not paying attention as she struggled to get out of the spotlight, she ran straight into a pair who were walking together. She quickly recognized them as Ophelia Hepburn and Felix Tyler, both of which had so much talent and were somehow even more attractive in person. "Shit. Are you okay? My bad, I was trying to get away from the cameras and I just-" she blurted out though she had to stop herself from rambling on more. How fucking embarrassing. "I'm sorry," she spat out again, adjusting her dress and hoping she wasn't about to be part of a scene. She didn't know either of them enough to predict how they'd react to her intrusion but she couldn't screw this up already.

"is this a dream?"

As Cadence’s mouth turned upwards into a smile, Rosie let out a breath of relief, followed by a soft laugh. No blood, no foul. Rosie found herself smiling as the fiery haired girl, the shorter of the pair, went on to introduce herself, further easing Rose’s nerves. Her friendliness quickly rubbed off on Rose, and she found herself relaxing even further, the previous anxiety slowly turning into a shy state of excitement.

“Thank you so much, honestly that is such a huge compliment coming from you-“
Rose gushed, unable to hide her appreciation for Cadence’s talent. “Honestly, I still can’t believe I’m here—it still feels a bit unreal.” she admitted, surprised as the words came out of her mouth. But the confession came easily, as Rose found herself trusting the girl even more, especially after Cadence’s hand drifted to Rose’s hair, fixing one of the long, dark curls into place. She spoke gently before moving to fix the rest of Rose’s hair, which was slightly messy from Rose’s impulsive decision to free her hair of the style her stylist had spent nearly an hour on perfecting.

Rose gave a sheepish smile as her hand went to the back of her hair, pulling out a stray hair pin, waving it in embarrassment, before she tucked it into her clutch. “Thank you so much,” Rose said, letting out a small giggle before she felt her cheeks warm as the red haired beauty complimented her array of dark waves and curls. “Oh my goodness, stop, you should see yourself, you look absolutely stunning!” Rosalind responded, glad to have bumped into Cadence, who was starting to climb her way up in Rose’s book of people she liked.

As another face, a much more familiar face appeared, Rose’s eyes widened in surprise. But this was a pleasant surprise. As her eyes settled on Zephyr’s, Rose felt a familiar warmth take over as another comforting presence entered her view. She opened her mouth to say hi, but then stopped short as he proceeded to choke on his champagne and then spit it out, directly onto the back of a guest Rose did not recognize.

Blinking, Rose watched as he flashed a smile at the guest, quickly being forgiven. It was a quick and hilarious interaction and Rose offered Zephyr a lop sided smile, flashing a dimple in the process. She was genuinely happy to see him. But he turned quickly, vanishing out of sight almost quickly as he came into it, and Rose couldn’t help but feel the slightest bit let down. It had been a while since they had spoken, and Rose was genuinely glad to see that he was doing so well for himself.

Her train of thought broke as another familiar face appeared into view. Rosalind’s eyes widened and a wide grin formed on her face as Dakota Prince immediately recognized her, giving a small squeal of excitement before she engulfed Rose in a friendly embrace. The action came as a surprise to Rose, and she stood there for a brief second, blinking, before she quickly returned the hug, the excitement increasing. Rose laughed, a melodic sound that carried out, before she grabbed Dakota’s arm, studying her dazzling outfit with a smile. “Holy shit, girl, you look HOT,” Rosie said, beyond happy to see her. They had kept up with each other over social media for a while now, and Rosalind had always been looking forward to when they would finally meet.

As Isla Duchesne joined their group, the rest Rose’s nerves trickled away. The anxiousness was now replaced by a friendly warmth as Rose leaned forwards and hugged Isla, kissing both sides of her cheek, a habit she had picked up from the Arabic side of her family. “Isla, you look amazing. It’s been a minute, girl, I’m so down to catch up and grab lunch and a marg… Or three,” Rose winked at the brunette beauty, already knowing the two would be setting up plans for lunch after the gala.

Rose glanced around at the group in front of her, tucking a piece of her dark hair behind her ear, smiling softly as she fell into a natural comfort around the people around her. The energy was buzzing and the vibes were good, something Rosie lived for, and Ophelia drifted out of her mind as Cadence linked her arm’s through Rose’s, leading the group towards the bar.

“Make that two!” Rose called to the bartender, winking at Cadence, glad to know someone else had a taste for whiskey besides her. As the bartender returned with their whiskey’s, Rose quickly downed the rest of what was left of her champagne before she set it to the side. Taking a napkin, she wrapped it around the glass so her hands would not get wet, before she sipped on the drink, instantly being reminded of Christmas eve at the Hepburn residence, drinking whiskey with her dad as he droned on about the importance of family.

The liquid had hardly went down Rose’s throat before she took another sip, glancing over as Cadence called over to a guy who was seated at the bar. Rose leaned forward, resting her elbows on the bar while she held the glass with both hands, holding the rim of the glass to her lips, meeting Isla’s eye briefly. They both had the same surprised expression and Rosie started laughing, shaking her head as her dark waves of hair fell over her face. She glanced over at Isaac again, slightly envious of his natural confidence. He seemed to be at such ease.

As the guy approached the group, Rose leaned up and away from the bar and offered a friendly smile. Cadence recognized the new addition as Mark, and whereas Rose was normally on the shyer side, she couldn’t help but be affected by Cadence’s friendly aura. Looking at the newcomer, Rosalind waved with her free hand. “Hi, I’m Rosalind. Nice to meet you, glad to see a fellow newbie!” she said, her voice earnest and kind.

Bringing the glass back to her lips, Rose turned so that her back was to the bar. The slit in her dress exposed her left leg as she leaned back against the bar; her tanned skin was a striking contrast and compliment to the deep red color of her dress. She ran a hand through her dark waves, brushing them out of her face before taking another sip and soaking in her surroundings once more. More and more people were coming in and just when Rosie finally seemed to settle into a state of relaxation, her eyes caught sight of Ophelia.

Their eyes met and Rose froze, the nerves rushing back to her. Rose’s eyes lit up and an eager smile broke out on her face, only to falter as Ophelia quickly looked away. She glanced at the guy standing next to Ophelia, almost protectively, and recognized him as Felix Tyler. Her nerves deepened as she realized she was far too chicken to approach Ophelia right then and there. Taking another deep gulp of her drink, Rose turned back around and took a deep breath before she glanced over at the exchange between Mark and Cadence.

This was going to be a long night.

She was suddenly very glad that the effects of the alcohol had started taking place, sending a buzz through her mind and body and making her sway lightly, almost as if she had swayed to the beat of the music.

Something felt a little different about Ophelia in the moment, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Monica decided to shrug it off for now that it was probably just nerves. She liked to think even the most veteran red carpet celebrities got nervous from time to time. They were still human even if people put them on these impossibly high pedestals as if they were gods. She wouldn't complain though this is what she signed up for, this is what she wanted. The sight of Felix was a welcome one. She hadn't gotten to really get to know a lot of people on her road to fame very well due to her being completely wrapped up in her Ex for so long so she appreciated the few she had. "Thanks, Ophelia you're stunning, and Felix you've got one amazingly sick sense of style. I love it." She let the bubble of laughter escape her lips giving and receiving the compliments. They were one good looking bunch no one could deny that, but honestly from just the little bit she's scene so far it seemed that was a requirement for stardom. Everyone was beautiful beyond belief. She was never one to really be obsessed with looks or anything, but hot damn.

Connecting after the fact was pretty difficult for her too since the scars of her last relationship affect not just the way she viewed people romantically, but in general. Trusting in people was not a simple feat anymore. Her mind always ran wild with different scenarios about how they might be showing her one thing, but feel another, and do something completely different then that. This lifestyle and seeing the behind the scenes of her peers didn't help. There was the image that the fans knew, the image that the mangers knew or promoted, then there was the real you, if you even had one or remembered who that was anymore.

Ugh this night was going to be absolutely no fun if she couldn't stay out of her own head. She grinned and returned the high five knowing full well the cameras around them were eating all this up. Who wouldn't love to see some of their favorite artists hanging out together? She was curious however when she noticed Zephyr coming from inside of the building back out towards them. Had something happened inside already? And here she thought she was actually on time for once, but still managed to miss out on all the fun. However he seemed his same charmingly sweet self as he approached the group complimenting Felix's style. Watching them interact got a small giggle to escape her lips. Now this was a Kodak moment as far as she was concerned. She raised her brow however when he offered her his arm. "Sure that diva of a girlfriend you got won't mind?" She smirked. She wasn't one to avoid bad publicity, she didn't particularly care because it seemed no matter what she did it just gained her my sympathy and more fans. She'd heard the chick was a bitch anyways so pissing her off didn't phase her. Perhaps that's why despite her question she choose to loop her arm around the one he offered anyways and walk inside with him. "But who am I to turn down such kindness?" She hummed.

It was only after she linked with him did she feel her heart jump to her throat. Why? Well this felt all too familiar. Arm in arm with someone she viewed as one of the sweetest guys on the planet. He was being such a gentleman, and she'd responded like that because...because she couldn't just take the kind gesture for what it was. She had to tell herself that being defensive was ok because what if his girlfriend really did mind, and this was scene as flirting? What if he was flirting with her? Then he'd be just as bad as her ex. Then again...why wasn't she with him here anyways. She was certain stardom would've given him a plus one to bring him due to how big a deal this Gala was. Her mind could come up with a million and one excuses, but none of them would satisfy her because the more she speculated and went down that rabbit hole the further she got from the truth. Zephyr isn't him. Her mind just turned every kind gesture especially by men into enemy ammo. Arrogant flirtation, womanizer, liars she could deal with them all day even if she hated it because a pig being a pig was easy. You knew exactly what you were dealing with, so you knew exactly what to do. Simple. This kind of thing was complicated because no one teaches you what to do when the nice guy hurts you. No one tells you how to heal from the sheep, so you assume every sheep is a wolf in disguise. That way you can't be tricked anymore, that way you're never blindsided.

Regardless of intentions she was here for a reason, and that needed to take priority. Thankfully she was snapped out of her horrid thoughts seeing a gorgeous girl bump into Ophelia and Felix. She was about to say something when she finally took notice of their surroundings. Monica had never been in a place so magnificent, it was breath-taking and this was the world she was now a part of. Not just a visitor, but really integrated with from this point forward. "It's dazzling, a modern masterpiece don't you think?" She asked Zephyr softly leaning up to his ear. Realizing now how rude she'd been due to her own prejudice she also looked down and away from him as she tacked on her apology, "Sorry about earlier. I don't even know the girl that was rude towards you both. Thank you for walking with me." It wasn't much, but it was the most she could muster at the moment. She let her gaze wonder back to the girl who'd bumped into Ophelia and Felix, "You alright?" She asked curiously. Sure she may have just been clumsy, but it couldn't hope to check and make sure she wasn't hurt or just on some sort of high not paying attention.

Once they were finally all the way into the ballroom area her eyes scanned the room for other familiar faces. She knew she should network, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to get her more pleasant conversations out of the way first to calm her nerves. She saw what looked like Cade, but she was surrounded by so many people it was hard to tell. then again that was probably the best indicator that it was indeed Cade. She recognized a few of the other faces in the crowd like Dakota, but they mainly hung out outside the public eye. Everyone else she knew vaguely or just knew of them...well except the one girl. Isla, she never forgets someone who she feels has wronged her in some way. Sure it was something petty and the two should get over it, but it still didn't sit right with her, and tonight was not the night to try and force it. She could already see it turning into a headline, and possibly a headache. Cade had been kind enough to show her the ropes here at stardom so she wouldn't go make a big embarrassing scene in front of her. She held too much respect for her friend to do that.

Her eyes roamed a bit more and landed on her friend Nico and his band-mates from Uncaged Bandits. She knew them all from being on tour with them for a bit, so figured that would be her next best bet. That was until she saw Kat promptly waltz over there and just knew the drama was about to unfold. She couldn't lie front row seats to watch tomorrows headline seemed mighty tempting. She hadn't even noticed she'd yet to loosen her tie to Zephyr until she raised her hand to wave in the Bandits direction. She looked up at Zephyr with a smile, "We should start the night with a drink, I gotta feeling this is gonna be a long night. Got a preference? Its on me as my thanks." she added flashing him a peace sign.
