Welcome to St Ivy's Youth Institute, (formerly known as St Ivy's Home For Sick Girls), a highly-regarded centre of care and recovery for anybody who needs support with mental illness. Established in the 1800s, St Ivy's began as a home for girls with incurable or longstanding illnesses and later became the first all-female 'asylum' in the state, growing to accommodate double its intended population during the 1960s. In the 1990s, St Ivy's rebranded as an institution specialising in treating mental illness and in 2010, it opened its doors to all young people regardless of gender. Nowadays, the institution houses only a small number of patients in order to focus fully on their recovery. An in-patient stay at St Ivy's averages at around six to eight weeks. Of course, this is dependent on how much a patient's insurance can cover and how much progress they make in their recovery; some patients may need to stay much longer.

Rules
1. This role-play will be accepting a maximum of eight members, as small numbers are much more manageable, although places may open up later if people become inactive. If anybody wants to write a staff member as opposed to a patient, please let me know - I'm going to write the majority of staff roles.
2. This role-play will include sensitive topics. I'm looking for considerate, thoughtful people who are willing to fully research the characters they want to write. Mental illness can be a delicate topic for many people so please be prepared to include TWs where necessary and treat the topic with respect.
3. Obedience to site rules; this means no godmodding, no sexual content, etc. Although I'm quite a laid back person, I won't tolerate people who are rude or refuse to obey site rules and/or rules that are outlined in this post.
4. I expect good or at least decent literacy. One-liners will definitely be a no-go, as I will be expecting two paragraphs per post minimum. They don't have to be long paragraphs but this is just to give you an idea of the detail I'm expecting. Please spend time on your posts and work on hard on them so you can do your best writing!

Although there aren't going to be any strict character roles in this role-play, I'd appreciate if people came up with unique and interesting characters. As you may have guessed, this role-play will be mostly character driven so it would be good if we could create a mix of different people, as this would lead to much more interesting interactions between them. Again, I want to reiterate one last time that this is not a "lol crazy asylum xD" role-play and mental illnesses, as well as their depictions, will be taken seriously in this role-play. This is also not intended to be fetishising people who are mentally ill. Thanks so much for reading! Please let me know if you're interested in joining my role-play!

Hi, can I join? I'm not entirely sure how to rp this genre, since I don't have experience with this sort of thing, but I would like to try.

Yes! I’d be happy to help you out anywhere you need.

I'd love to hop on in! Haven't done much group rp on the site but I'd like to try it if you'll have me ^^
Sure thing! Hopefully will be putting up a CS thread soon! ☺️
