"I was a Reaper. I was responsible for the lives of countless rogue agents and mercenaries. Corrupted Soul or not, he was a human and a comrade just hours ago. I know factually the weight of taking a human life,"
Cyrus Kallis, Fate Director

What even are Fate Agents?

It would be easy to write them off as the problem children of the DWMA. The troublemakers and insubordinate minority of the organization with a history of friction and failure. Those with trauma and trust issues. Those not forged in the flames, but broken in them. To many, they might be the weapons and tools that would be left discarded.

That easy explanation isn't entirely accurate.

Fate Agents may all be problematic, but they're hardly children; most are young adults, if not older. The F.A.T.E. Program that grants them their title of Fate Agent includes much more than mere attitude issues, behavioral problems, or defiance of authority. In the history of this world, there have countless tragedies that could leave one scarred for life. Various species are for the first time at peace with the DWMA, though still facing prejudice, and this program equally exists for them to prove themselves. It is an atmosphere of mixed emotions and ethical gray areas that has resulted in an uptick of unstable or untrustworthy individuals that all seek to become a proper Agent of the DWMA. In some cases, it may be all they know. In other cases, it may be an escape from their past. In all cases, it's not an easy road to walk.

The Program exists to prove that these individuals are not broken tools. It exists to save them from a life of mercenary work in foreign countries in unsafe conditions. It exists to prevent them from walking down the path of crime and Madness. The Program is an act of good faith from the new Shinigami, Lord Kidd, whom refuses to lose any soul to the darkness if he can help it. It has been blessed with resources in the form of equipment, therapy, and financial assistance. It is the last hope for many Agents, but it is not a dim hope. For those that want it bad enough, the path of the Fate Agent can be a bright one.

What's with the list of traits?

This is just to give an idea of what we don't presently have a "role" for or what we would like to see more of. With that said, just because something isn't listed on the table doesn't mean it's not an option. This was more so to jog any creative juices and give some insight as to our current roster.

Why are we recruiting?

The game is about to undergo a time skip of a few months. All the main characters will be synced up, we'll be having a social event of sorts, and it happens to be the easiest time to integrate new characters. So, the timing is good. Beyond that, the game is designed in such a way that Death City works as a type of hub for training, socializing, etc., but characters and the plot are generally progressed via missions that extend out of Death City. The structure of missions now is such that they have a leader and are swapped around on a per-mission basis. Many players simply have a lot of characters. It's not quite as fun to play multiple characters on the same team, so the goal is to create a new team with new players and characters to help keep up diversity.

That said, we do prefer to keep the game somewhat smaller. We historically have shut down applications after periods of open recruitment for months at a time. In this case, our goal is just two-to-four new players with a limit of no more than two characters per player if they are so inclined to play multiple.

What type of player are we looking for?

Commitment is a big factor here. This game has gone on over a year with a 1,000+ posts. None of that is required to read, but this isn't an experimental "let's see if works" style of game. It works. If you're after something you want to reliably be there in a few months, we fulfill that.

Activity is another factor. On average, characters get posted for about once or twice (if the stars align) per week. There are posting guidelines, but the pace has been fast enough over the last 6+ months that I've never had to enforce it considerably.

Detail-oriented. If you are a lover of lore and player-created content, this is right up your alley. The world-building here to create a unique take on the Soul Eater fandom is probably the keystone of this game. Not to say you have to read everything; you don't. There exists a quickstart guide that skips unnecessary reading for new players. That said, these are not just walls of texts. For ease of reading/searching, all of the information has been formatted, spaced out, and given interactive indexes/navigation. If you're the type that wants to throw in their OC with a few minor edits and breeze past it all, this game may not be for you. No harm, no foul.

Creativity and cooperation. Creativity goes a long way here. This isn't a free-form/create anything you want blank slate of a game. It does have established lore and systems. That said, if you can make use of and expand on what's there, we can work together to make something really well integrated into the world, unique to yourself, and fun to play. Alongside that, we do often do collab posts which are made in Google Docs. These can cover a lot of activity much faster. It's not a necessity, but it makes for a much more fluid game. If you're willing to work with the GM's on making a character and doing collab posts from time to time, you can get a lot more out of this game in terms of enjoyment.

If you're interested in the game, take a look at our Lore Page. It starts on the Quick Start guide I mentioned earlier. The lore and guide were recently reworked to be up-to-date for this upcoming recruitment and this new phase. Feel free to take a look at character sheets, NPC cards, and the IC if you want, too. Most of our OOC is in Discord.

If you want to make a character, shoot one or both of us a PM or join the Discord. All characters and changes require both of our approval, so you'll eventually be talking to both of us anyway. A note here is that we're posting recruitment early relative to the timeskip. This is to give anyone interested ample time to read, ask questions, build and refine their character, so on and so forth. We want to give everyone interested a fair shot without a huge time crunch.

On that note, if someone is interested in joining under a different role, shoot us a message anyway. We have an open weapon slot, but we could squeeze in more.

I'm interested as well. I'd like to join if there are any open spots left.

I'll bump this again. We're looking for another Demon Weapon character. If anyone is interested, Meister options are a werewolf or utility-meister (multi-weapon) martial artist.

Here is an updated Discord link, if you'd like to hop on.

Aside from that, I'd take a look at the Lore and give us an idea of what you're interested in.
