Somewhere In Between

HISTORY (LORE)

Long ago, humans and demons lived in harmony in a world called Vebabel (magic exists). Centuries after, pure-blood demons became rare and most of the land was ruled by daemonites. Daemonites are humanoid descendants of demons. They resembled humans but they had horns. It came to the point where the number of daemonites threatened the humans, so they had to find a way to overcome them. Eventually they found out that their weak spots were their horns. Being able to remove their horns cause them to become unanimated. In other words, they're dead but not completely dead. Their bodies don't rot. The humans called the removal of a daemonite's horns an "unempowering." There are daemonites who were able to get back the horns of the "unempowered" ones and they were able to re-animate the unempowered ones by using spells to return their horns to their heads. A huge war broke out and the daemonites were about to wipe out the humans until a great mage was able to craft an elemental gauntlet from the horns of a daemonite. Vebabel turned into ruins, but a group of floating islands (now called Meigma Constellation) survived, and is currently the only location on Vebabel where life can be sustained. Because of the humans' elemental gauntlets, they were able to force the daemonites into occupying the land below Meigma Constellation. Also, because of the power of these elemental gauntlets, some humans were forced into slavery. War was all over: daemonites vs humans, humans vs humans, and daemonites vs daemonites.

PLOT/STUFF

So basically, after the war, the daemonites and the humans separated, with the daemonites occupying the land below the floating islands (Meigma Constellation) where the humans are, though there was no peace treaty made. The humans still continue to unempower the daemonites, creating even more elemental gauntlets. In this roleplay, news spread from an anonymous source that there was a hidden island (location) where a power crystal is contained, a crystal made by the former demons. This RP is kinda like an open-world one, with a bit of action (maybe romance too) here and there. There should also be diverse characters (Will you be a daemonite fighting for the freedom of humans slaves? Maybe a daemonite who betrays other daemonites for humanity's money and favor? Maybe a human who thinks daemonites deserve their life?)

DAEMONITE CLASSES

(Basically generic fantasy classes. Tell me if you want a class added.)
ALSO NOTE: All daemonites have their own elemental power (not too op) which is why their horns are a main ingredient of these elemental gauntlets.
-Fighters: Mainly a tough daemonite w/ a sword (that one raging guy on the frontline that may or may not have heavy armor)
-Mages: Daemonites who specialize in extra spells (not too major) and magic.
-Healers: (no, this is not a weak class) healers play a big role. They're the only ones who are trained enough to be able to re-animate a daemonite. They also have gud healing spells.
-Rogues: Assassins! They are the quickest class, and mainly specialize on stealth kills

HUMAN CLASSES

(*insert generic fantasy classes*)
-Fighter: those ppl who may or may not have elemental gauntlets who go full-in with just a blade (may or may not have heavy armor)
-Mage: mainly people with elemental gauntlets who specialize in spells (can also be a gud spellmage without gauntlets)-they perform unempowerings
-Rogues: *insert generic rogue description* stealth-kills, boom!

TL ; DR
Basically there's a place called Meigma Constellation (group of floating islands). Here, there are human-demon hybrids called Daemonites. The humans and Daemonites are at war. If someone removes a Daemonite's horns, the Daemonite will be unanimated (a lifeless body that does not rot), and the horns can be used by the humans as an ingredient to make elemental gauntlets. However if someone also retrieves the horns before they are made into a gauntlet, there is still a chance of an unanimated Daemonite to be animated (alive and moving) again. The removal of a Daemonite's horns is called an "Unempowering" and the lifeless vessels of Daemonites are called the "Unempowered." The RP starts when the news spread that there's a hidden island that contains a very powerful crystal. This crystal could end the war or start a greater one, it's up to our characters to decide what to do. (There should be a diverse set cuz u can be like a human who fights for daemonites, a daemonite who betrayed daemonites, etc.)

Seems neato. Regarding Daemonite horns, does every Daemonite have only two, or are there those who have a greater or lesser number of them? Additionally, if, let's say, a Daemonite has two horns but somehow only one has been taken, how does this affect them? Is the other horn automatically forfeited, their power is just diminished, or...? As for my last question(s), what keeps humans from unempowering an "ally" Daemonite instead of just using their horns to make another set of gauntlets? I get that some might leave them alone purely out of morals or the fact that they are on the same side, but I'm under the assumption that not all would be convinced just because of that. Is there some kind of merit (e.g. the Daemonite is more useful as an independent force rather than a gauntlet)?

welp let's just say 1. Daemonites may have ANY amount of horns. Any style, size, color, etc. However since the horns are like the storage for their power, people usually don't judge them by the amount of horns. It depends on you (If you have a daemonite character) whether the power is distributed evenly in the horns. (So we can say e.g. a daemonite has two horns, but 90% of the power is on the left and 10% is on the right.)
2. Oooo well, since the main point of an "unempowering" is taking away 100% of a daemonite's power, it depends which horn was taken away and how much power was in that horn. If 100% is taken away, then the daemonite's unanimated, but let's say only 50% was taken away, then that Daemonite is just unable to fully use their magic. Anything below 40% and the Daemonite just becomes weak, like an ill human.
3. There could be tons of reasons why humans won't "unempower" daemonites. Not all humans like daemonite, it could just be that the human wants equal trading, but yeah uh, since Daemonites not only have these elemental powers that come from the horns, they have extra spells and skills too, which makes them being alive more important than the horns themselves.
