Children dream of fantasy without notion of truth. They see the creatures the adults ignore, they see those that hide. A child holds the destruction to a nations shaky peace.
Blue Ridge Mountains: Virginia
In 1887, the first settlement of mythical creatures settled in this mountain range. They claimed a remote section of territory to house around 15 creatures indefinitely. Every building was uniquely created to allow most species to enter and comfortably fit, though they had yet to welcome any truly massive dragons. As the village grew, the founders managed to incorporate buildings into the trees as a natural barrier to outsiders. Houses spiraled up through trees and clung to branches to create a whimsical look that complimented the forest.
By 1987 the village had grown far more than originally anticipated. Many were delighted by the success, but having such a large population would take it’s toll in the years to come. By the 21st century many in the village did not have a home of their own. Overpopulation had strained their resources to the brink, forcing many to consider leaving the only sanctuary within 500 miles.
Still in the village, great unrest boils at the surface. News of humans moving in closer has spread panic across their civilization like you may spread butter on toast. Without a real defense system the council was forced to consider a draft. Many younger creatures have been forced to leave the secluded area for a training camp over 15 miles away and across a highway.
