Imagine a society, just like any other across the world. Nothing too special or out of place. But happens when you take away the basic component that keeps civilisation going? That vital piece in the puzzle: oil. It begins to crumble at the foundations. You see, society nowadays needs energy to keep really anything afloat. And that energy comes from the black gold deep below, in the cracks of the Earth's surface. The Old World found itself facing such a conundrum years ago. The powerhouses of the world were the first to fall. Their need for such a resource them drove them to war, until it went nuclear. Then every other nation followed suit. And soon came order, and basic rule of law, until it reached the point of absolute turmoil. That's the world we live in now. Every single day and every single night is a struggle. A struggle to see tomorrow. Starvation is common place, dehydration is practically a norm, and the bandits and mutants just add to the problem. Y'know, at this point... society is fucked up beyond all repair.
SOCIETY: FUBAR is a post-apocalyptic roleplay set in an unknown year in the future, somewhere near the West Coast of America in the now dried-up Pacific Ocean. After oil wells across the globe began to dry up, the superpowers of the globe fought against one another in a bid to secure resources in order to delay the inevitable, until eventually resorting to nuclear warfare. Those who have inherited the Earth are plagued with famine and illness, and must constantly defend against crazed raiders and mutated creatures. In an ironic twist of fate, the remnants of society have managed to keep themselves going after discovering previously-overlooked petroleum sources. What remains of civilisations ranges from junk towns to scrap cities, and those cast out must face the brutalities of the Wasteland. You are a survivor in this Wasteland. Who you are is up to you. Whether you'd like to be a roguish enforcer of the law of the Old World or psychotic bandit leader, the choice is years to make.
