The clock hit 7:05 as it did every morning, and as it did the speaker sounded with the same recorded message that had been playing for years,

"It is now 7:05 am, please make your way to the cafeteria for your morning meal in a calm and orderly fashion." with that said it fizzled out and it was left to the individual cells to make their way to the cafeteria. For anyone other than the E block, the guards should simply let them out once they are dressed and ready. Today was a beautiful day in the facility at the perfect temperature of 21°C (69.8°F). The gentle hum of the machines was the white noise as always, and there was a pristine sent of disinfectant in the air as per usual.

Today on the menu was the same as every other day. Eggs with a hashbrown, a handful of fruit, and bacon(yogurt for vegetarians or a banana for vegans). Sometimes there was cereal as an option or random meals if they got lucky. The days were moving on as they usually did, but each day is a chance for change. Maybe something different would happen today, and maybe it would change the course towards the future ahead of them.

Felix

1616013768778.png

The clock hit 4:30 as it always did, none of the other muts were awake at this hour or at least none other that Felix was aware of. Felix slowly opened his eyes and moved around in his bed, slowly moving his hand up to his neck and feeling the collar placed on him, “still there” he mumbled to himself before getting out of bed, he wore a simple white pajama to match his perfectly white bed, he didn’t bother having any sort of unique patterns or colors for his clothing or things in general, he liked having it be practical and simple.

He wasted no time and went to the bathroom that he and his cellmate shared. He looked at himself through the mirror, his hair was all messy, but aside from that it was rather fine. Felix then paused and sighed, leaving the bathroom again to grab a pair of black clothing which seemed to resemble that of sports clothing and quickly changed. The next order of business now was the morning routine as he tossed his pajamas to his bed and quickly grabbed onto the horizontal poll nailed to his wall. Apparently one could get their own personal things in their cell and in Felix’s case he had a few things in his side of the cell he had: A horizontal pole for pull ups, a book shelf where he was allowed to keep books from the library, a wardrobe where he kept all his clothing, a yoga mat he used for his routines ,a nice wooden chair, and desk with a lamp and writing equipment as well. The only thing he wished he had was weights which they wouldn’t give him.

For the rest of the time he spent doing his morning routine which included: pull ups, push ups, stretching, and other body weight exercises practically covering the entire body until the clock hit 6:45. When it finally hit 6:45, Felix, now covered in sweat, went to the bathroom again to take a quick bath and change to his most common clothes which were grey, he made sure to wash any sweat there was on the ground before finally waiting until the clock hit 7:05 at which point he spent it by tidying up his side of the cell and occasionally looking at the guard who had been standing outside the cell the entire time.

The clock finally hit 7:05 as Felix finished tidying up the room and headed directly to the exit of the cell after putting on his shoes. The guard opened the cell allowing Felix to exit, in the hallways of the always familiar hallways he saw the guard that was assigned to him today and so with the assigned Guard following him, Felix made his way to the cafeteria.

Damien

Damien groaned as the punctual speaker crackled to life with its morning announcement. He had already been drifting toward wakefulness, sleep disrupted by the activities of his roommate in their shared spare. Not that he could fault the guy, the routine probably gave him an edge in their athletic assessments. Still, it was with a sort of drowsy irritation that Damien rolled limply out of bed, socked feet resting still on the floor for a moment before he shook himself into motion.

His side of the room was notably emptier than even his roommate’s minimalistic setup. Nothing but his bed and a set of shelves filled with folded clothing occupied the space. They’d discovered early on that dresser drawers were quick to succumb to frequent contact with his powers, pulls crumbling or breaking off in his hands after more than a week of use. There had been trials with all kinds of materials, but ultimately it was decided the best solution was the simple one, which was to just eliminate as many points of frequent handling as possible.

He’d fallen asleep in his clothes the night before, so he simply switched out his black tee for a fresh one, took care of things in the bathroom, and called it good enough. He’d probably later regret not getting up earlier for a shower, but at this hour, Damien really couldn’t be bothered. As it was, he tugged on his sneakers and exited to the hallway, ruffling his hair in a half-hearted effort to disperse the bedhead that had set in. The guard waiting there nodded to him, and he set off for the cafeteria, sleepiness slowly lifting away as he walked.

Blair.png BlairBlair hopped out of bed, the synthetic white tiles pressing their chill into her bare feet. It made her shiver, but it was a good feeling. Almost as good as the next step.

"WAKE UP~" She hooted, jumping onto the bed of Val, who she knew perfectly well was not sleeping. Admittedly, it was disappointing that she had missed another playtime with her "bestie" but Blair knew it was all a matter of patience. Either Val would pass out from exhaustion or the scientists would put her under. Then, they would play again, and again, and again!

"Wakey wakey! Time for another new day!" she said gleefully, ripping off the blankets of her cell mate with a huge grin. She then took the pillow from the girl and threw it at Mimic. "You too Mimi! We gotta hurry so we get ALL the good stuff before the others! Go go go! Last one there is a rotten potato!"

Blair pulled off her night dress and replaced it with a skirt and baggy black shirt that Dr. Cho had given to her once upon a birthday. She had slept with her tights, as usual, and was done changing in just under a minute. All that was left was to slip on a red tie and band of hand-sewn cloth around her arm that said 'Hall Monitor'.

"Ok, beffast time!" she declared before rushing out the door (at a brisk walk, of course... since running was prohibited and she was nothing if not the best hall monitor). It was hard though, since the closer she got the more her excitement welled. Her best friends Bee and Gouki would be there! At least, that's what she thought when she opened the pearly doors to the cafeteria only to find it disappointingly empty.

She was always early, and this always happened, but it always made her thoughts turn to the worst. What if Bee and Gouki didn't show up? What if they were moved to another cell block? What if they didn't like her anymore and were avoiding her? She held her head for a moment and giggled uncontrollably. No, they were never EVER going to leave her! she would not let them~!

"Let's get their breakfast!" she said to herself, skipping over to the cafeteria with her hands behind her back. With eager glee, she greeted the worker on duty and asked them politely for several plates, although they had already anticipated it from the moment they saw her approach. It was pretty common by this point.

With great care, Blair carried over the three plates to one of the empty tables and set them down like a child preparing for a tea party. It had to be absolutely perfect to the point that she made sure each plate was perfectly symmetrical and evenly spaced. As usual, she made sure Gouki and Bee were across from her while the seat to her left was empty. That was where Noodles sat. He was very hunched over today and coughed a lot.

"How rude! You shouldn't slouch, you know... and NO, we cannot eat yet. We need to wait for them first!" Blair said in a patronizing tone to the empty seat beside her. She then turned her attention to the cafeteria doors and waited ever so patiently for her friends to arrive.

The night had taken the form of a burning city. Gouki had never seen a city, much less a burning one. But the various forms of media he was allowed to be exposed to, that being select movies and books, made it possible for his mind to envision such a place. The skyscrapers he’d once dreamed of seeing with his own eyes as a child were slowly being reduced to ruins beneath the oppressive flames of his own minds hell. Many had already crumbled, with concrete rubble decorating the street he stood upon. There were also cars, but for some reason they all took the form of a 1960’s Lowrider in various colors, some were wrecked and others merely parked amongst the destruction.

But the scenery was not the focus of this nightmare. It never was.

Before him, an all too familiar shadow of himself was approaching. Ashen skin, bright red scaled armor, dark hair, and hellish eyes that stared directly into his soul. Their mouth was twisted into an evil grin, with two sharp fangs of a Demon jutting from its lower jaw. They were void of injury and imperfections, whereas Gouki was very much in rough shape.

Atlas continued to approach, taking his time in the comfort of knowing his lesser half would have nowhere to run in their shared mind. He could flee, he could try to hide, but in the end it only made this more enjoyable for the maddened personality. Meanwhile Gouki, having just been hurled across the street and brought to an abrupt halt by one of the cars, did his best to posture up and at the very least prepare to try and fight back. Orange blood trickled down his face from the top of his head, prompting him to wipe it away to keep it out of his eyes. There was a split in his skull that was the source of the oozing fluid, matting up his Snow White hair. Wincing in pain as he felt at it, Gouki would try and get his mind off of it as he postured up fully and put up a guard.

“I’ll never understand you.” Atlas spoke, his voice a warped impersonation of Gouki’s own. “Surely by now you’d realize that there’s no point in fighting me.”

Gouki chuckled, “At least, not a point that you yourself would see. The only thing you ever seem to focus on is that superiority complex of yours, and the disdain you have for all else but yourself.”

“Why should I not feel this way? It is not a complex, it is the truth. The natural order of the powers you fail to utilize at its max potential. You could’ve been a god among these creatures, wasted every one of those bastards that keep us imprisoned here, but instead you played the fool.” Atlas lunged forward to take Gouki up by his throat, crushing it in his grip while his lesser counterpart was suspended in the air. “You suppressed what you were given, hid from every possibility of conflict, and became the coward you are today.” A low rumbling of laughter echoed in Atlas’ throat, “But I suppose I have to thank you for that. Because you hid, I was born of the violence our unnatural abilities call for. And now I will one day have the chance to claim what you could not.”

Despite the vice feeling around his throat, and the pain radiating in his skull, Gouki smirked through it and dared to meet Atlas’ gaze.

“Only if you can ever escape.... Atlas..... My body.... my life.... it will never be yours to inherit.... And I will take that promise.... to my grave.”

“Then you are prepared for your fate!” Atlas would growl.

The last sensation Gouki would feel was his throat finally being occluded under the pressure of Atlas’ hand. There was a squishy crunch, then everything went dark from there,

—————————

Gouki, as was common during the mornings, awoke with a violent start that shook his body to its core. A cold sweat covered his body, and he was panting like crazy. It felt like he’d been holding his breath. Out of the initial fear, his hand went to feel at his throat. He expected to feel something similar to a crushed can, but was relieved to find that his throat was still intact. The night terrors he experienced always had repercussions when he wakes up. Be it the standard feeling of dread that clings to his soul, or the imaginary pains of injuries sustained during the night.

‘It was all just an illusion’ He’d have to remind himself. ‘Everything is okay.’

It took a moment of sitting still and staring into the darkness, but finally his breathing and heart rate toned down a few notches. Enough for him to have confidence that he could stand and not pass out. So he drug himself out of bed, and left a trial of his t-shirt and shorts as he stripped on his way to the bathroom. A cold shower would douse his nightmares down the drain, giving him a moment to focus on something else besides the terror pounding in his chest. The water felt therapeutic, and worked its magic.

After about five minutes, the alarm sounded for breakfast. But Gouki was feeling a bit sluggish, and wasn’t exactly in a hurry to eat. They’d have plenty of time. So, he leaned his head against the shower wall as he gradually increased the temperature. It was warm, and he could feel himself dosing off again.

Someone would likely have to wake him up before they were late.

Beau Anan~
|interactions Siren77 Siren77 |mentions Juju Juju |
Beau sat as a green blob on their bed, one which was completely dried of sheets and rather just had a plastic encasing over it, about as comfortable as it sounded. At the very second that the announcement started Beau's slime ball sprang up and Beau's form quickly formed with a pop. Of course, they were naked, but they had no genitalia so it didn't matter, or at least not to them. As they formed they hummed a random tune they heard at some point. They changed into a seafoam green shirt and white overalls, tying a black bandana around their kneck. They of course spoke the tune that goes with tying things,

"Bunny ears, bunny ears, playing by a tree. Criss-crossed the tree, trying to catch me. Bunny ears, bunny ears jumped into the hole, Popped out of the other side beautiful and bold!" they finished proudly, smiling widely at their accomplishment. They neatly placed the friendship bracelet on their left arm before grabbing a hand full of stickers made just for their skin. They placed them on his cheeks and arms and smiled widely. They then took out Their other stickers, the ones that were bees with a top hat, and walked over to their cellmate's bed. They frowned upon not seeing them and entered the bathroom. They smiled widely at the sight of their friend asleep in the shower. Turning off the shower, They walked over, whipping off his noise from the water and then popped one sticker right on top of his nose,

"Kiki it's time to get up!" they spoke excitedly as they danced around the shower. Their bare feet making a soft padding sound as they did so. They plopped themself onto the edge of the bath/shower, "Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn~ If we don't get up Blair is gonna steal all the food!" They giggled lightly, poking Gouki's face with one of their fingers. This of course felt smooth, and a little cold, a weird sensation that Gouki most likely already knew about.

Valentina~

Valentina got about as much sleep as she always did. Spending the night staring at the ceiling, flinching at every movement Blair took. She hated this room. She hated this facility. She bit back the urge to throw Blair off the bed the very second she jumped onto Valentina's bed. The girl remained silent, facing the wall as her blankets were also removed from her. She didn't know if it was fear or exhaustion(a mix of both most likely) that always kept her from acting out against Blair. But she knew, that 'friends' who did that to Blair don't normally turn out well.

As Blair left to go to the cafeteria Valentina felt a sigh of relief wash through her. She was still wearing her oversized hoodie and jeans so she didn't plan on changing out of them. She pushed her glasses up her nose, adjusting them as she sat back on the bed, her back against the wall. She held her knees to her chest as she sat there. She was going to enjoy the time before she had to be with Blair again. She let her shoulders relax a little bit.

Lyn~

Lyn threw her pillow against the wall the second the announcment came on, letting out a loud set of groans and curses. Her clothing was her only items in her cell, even still they took up the entire floor area. Lyn slept in her underwear so she just pulled a random shirt and pants off the floor, shoving on her combat boots roughly as well. She swiftly tied her hair back and walked to the door. She placed her hands up and moved back 2 steps as the guard came in. Her hands were taken roughly and placed into cuffs.

She began to walk slowly to the cafeteria, smirking to herself every time the guards had to shove her because she was moving too slow. She entered the cafeteria, seeing a few other experiments there as well. She sat herself down, one the guards leaving her be for once. Cuffs meant she got her food from the guards, perfection. She sat in her usual seat away from as many people as possible.

Oliver struggled to get out of bed. He never got used to the whole "waking up early" thing, why would you spend more and more time in the oppressive light of the Unconquered Sun? However, sleeping in meant no breakfast, not to mention the punishments. He had to have his body primed if anything would happen. "Urgh... Good mor-" he said, but couldn't see his cellmate. He stumbled out of bed, making his way to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth, but before that, he took a good look at himself in the mirror. The bags under his eyes were the proof that he slept late that night, again. He always liked to stargaze, but the small window on his cells didn't allow much of that. He was the most ecstatic when he saw the moon, on the few days that the astronomical object was visible through the small window. The previous day wasn't one of those, but it still made him happy to watch the stars.

His hair was unkempt, but just a quick comb and a hair tie fixed it, like always. He went back to the main room and looked around for Asher, but nothing of him, only a lump at the bed. Maybe it was just clothes, maybe it was him under that, honestly, Oliver didn't want to know. Asher scared him a little, especially with the whole "necromancy" thing. Maybe if he could actually solidify the animals he summoned, it would've been less creepy. Then again, he kinda controlled the darkness. Or whatever he actually did. The people that experimented him didn't tell him exactly what he did. To him, it was a blessing from the Eclipsed Moon.

The boy finished his preparations and left for the cafeteria. Everybody was already there. People made him nervous, so he grabbed his food and sat as far away as possible, observing the other kids. All younger than him. That was also speculation, he didn't remember the ages of the other people.

Mimic
In sleep there could be no reflecting, no mimicry, nothing but the mimic's own blue hair spayed out across the pillow, her own face scrunched into a frown at the mysteries of her own dreams. She never remembered them, anyway. And of course, it would be their own cerulean eyes that opened at the sound of the speaker, blinking blearily a few times as they struggled into the waking world. Clad in cloud patterned pyjamas the small mutant would head first to the mirror in the bathroom, studying her reflection with critical eyes. It wasn't that they disliked their own face, the angles of their cheekbones, the set of their eyes, their button nose...Distantly, they were aware they were what was known as 'cute'.

It was just... showing her true face easily felt like a vulnerability. It was so much easier to hide behind someone else's eyes, use their face as her own. It felt safer, somehow. And so began the routine. First, the eyes. They hummed to themself as they considered, voice changing multiple times in a somewhat uncanny fashion. People could get upset at her for using their features, she understood that much, so the downturned purple eyes were taken from a mut who had failed their tests enough times to vanish. They couldn't be upset with her if they weren't here to be upset.

A lot of their common borrowings were from muts who had supposedly been transferred to another facility. Even if she wanted to, Mimic couldn't forget - every face she saw, every word she heard, her ability had fixed into her mind to be used for later. It might have been nice to forget but Mimic couldn't remember a time where words and faces hadn't engraved themselves into her memory, and so there was no point wondering about possibilities. Before they could continue with the erasing of their own identity, they would be startled by - a pillow?!

Despite how used to it she was from sharing a cell with Blair, Mimic still felt nonplussed in the face of the other girl's excitement, staring before nodding slowly. She did want to get there before the best stuff was gone and she certainly didn't want to be a rotten potato. People didn't like rotten potatoes one bit.

All they'd changed so far was their eyes, though and that wouldn't do, but Blair was already gone, which made Mimic one step closer to being a rotten potato. They frowned in the mirror, then sighed, tying a hasty braid at the side of their hair. It would have to do. Now all she had to do was change - simple enough, plain white clothes, slightly baggy so if she had to borrow someone's physique for a physical test she wouldn't ruin them and then she was ready!
Mimic would head for the door and then pause, glancing at her other cellmate.

Being nice was a thing that Mimic wanted to do, even if they weren't sure of how. Her attempts were often based on what she had seen others do and were frequently ill-advised and yet -
"Do you want me to save you some food?" There! And she only had to use two voices to say it.

“Huh..........?” Gouki’s head rotated against the wall to view the source of the voice, only to see Beau sitting just at the showers edge staring up at him. A very very naked him. “GAH! What the f-“ The elf looking boy snatched the shower curtain to fully hide himself, a rather nervous gaze still locked with his slimy companion. “Any particular reason you decided to creep in here?” Just as he finished speaking, he remembered hearing the announcement, and realized the problems connected to that. “Shit, maybe it’s a good thing you came in here.”

"Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn~ If we don't get up Blair is gonna steal all the food!"

“Yeah yeah, give me a second damnit! And a little privacy if it’s not too much to ask.”

Regardless of if Beau left, Gouki would snatch a towel and quickly dried himself off after shutting the shower off. Stowing back to their room, he’d quickly pull on a pair of boxers, a white t-shirt with a black design that read “Free Hugs”, a pair of black sweats that weren’t too baggy, his favorite pair of converse that matched his skin tone, and last but not least the friendship bracelet colored teal and red made by Beau was wrapped around his wrist. After he was dressed, his ears perked up as he looked back to Beau.

“Alright! Cmon we’d better not keep her waiting!”

Gouki led the way to the cafeteria, a bit of urgency in his stride. Blair had a habit of overthinking and over complicating a situation, and he didn’t like seeing that in her. It just brought about a whole lot of anxiety, which he knew was never fun. So he didn’t want to give her any more time to worry than he already unintentionally had. It was roughly a five minute walk, so five minutes she’d have to wait.

Eventually the two entered the dining hall, heading straight to their typical table where Blair already sat waiting for them.

“Hey Blair!” He’d call with a cheery smile on his face. Once there, he sat down at his usual spot directly in front of her where his plate sat. “Sorry we’re late. I, uh, fell asleep in the shower... again.” Truth be told it wasn’t the first time he’d done this, and likely wouldn’t be the last. “I hope we didn’t keep you waiting for too long!”

Felix

Felix kept walking down the hallways on his way to the cafeteria, he turned part of his head around to look at the guard behind him, “Anything new?”

“No” the guard responded

“Right… ” Felix said skeptically, there was always something new in this place… the difference was if they were told about it or not, thankfully at least the guard actually responded to him which many of the other guards didn’t even do, either it was a rookie or he was having a good day.

Finally making it to the doors to the cafeteria, Felix went through to see a sight he was very used to seeing: The E cell mut sitting alone, a free table, and a table with two respectable muts, although awkward at times, and one that always seemed to enjoy provoking him far too often. He stared at the individual that brought him anger and near seething rage(Blair), moving ahead he picked up a plate and went ahead with grabbing a bit of everything as he almost always did since the menu seemingly never changed, “Will they ever change the menu for food aside from the occasional surprise?” he asked the guard.

The guard didn’t respond, acting indifferent.

Felix rolled his eyes before moving on to the empty table to start eating. The guard followed suit and simply stood next to him while seemingly surveying the area.

Relief washed over Blair as soon as she saw the two walk through the doors. It was only five minutes, and yet it had felt like an eternity.

"Bee! Kiki! You took foreeeever!" Blair shouted excitedly, standing up from her seat and rushing towards her friends. She didn't even have to read the shirt Gouki was wearing to take him up on the offer. With a happy squeal she tackle hugged the pale haired mut and listened to what he had to say. Her face scrunched up in suspicion at the mention of falling asleep in the shower and she backed away to give him a disapproving look.

"Wait a minute...are you not getting sleep?" she placed her hands on her hips "Is it that dummy Atlas? I'm going to find him tonight and make him sorry! He thinks he's soooo tough because its your mind... but I've been doing really well in my tests and its time he gets a taste of his own medicine! It's NOT FAIR!"

Blair's face turned a bright shade of red in her anger and she was shaking. How DARE they mess with Gouki! Nobody was going to harm her friends and get away with it! They deserved to be hurt for this! Badly! She was so mad that she almost forgot to greet her other best friend. The one who hated violence and anger.

She blinked then glanced at Beau, her expression instantly switching from bloodlust to happiness. "Oh, Bee... I almost forgot your hug! Rawr!" Blair tackled the slimy child with a big hug before switching to squishing their blobby cheeks. "Chubby~ chubby~ hehe you're like a giant stress ball!"

After a few moments of playing with Beau's chubby face, she was content enough to lead the others to the table. She grabbed their hands and sat them down at their respective seats. "Bee, you sit here... and Gouki you sit here! There! I made sure to get extra strawberries and the eggs aren't burnt! And your plate doesn't have salt in it this time, Bee! I made sure of it!"

Blair sat down at her seat last and waited for the others to start eating before she did. While she waited she caught Felix's stare and gave him a giant, smug grin, She waved happily. "Good morning Felix and Felix's babysitter!"

Gouki chuckled at his smaller friends excitement, patting her on the head as he so often did when wrapped up in those surprisingly tight hugs of hers. His unoccupied hand cradled around her shoulders, releasing only when she initiated it. He’d learned the hard way about letting go of hugs too early.

“Heh, nah it’s okay Blair. I sleep fine, I’m just lazy. That’s all, there’s no need for you to get involved.”

’At last, you speak something I can agree with’

Ah, so he was awake finally.

’What? Me sleeping fine? being lazy? Or Blair not needing to get involved?’

‘I’m not afraid of the runt, and your sleeping habits are none of my concern, so do the math on this one for yourself’

‘They should be of your concern’

why’s that exactly?’

‘You do realize that if I don’t sleep I’ll die, and by extension you will too, right?’

‘I can’t die’

‘Yes you fucking can. You are literally a part of my brain. When it goes, you go.’

‘Nope, I’ll just seize control of your body after you expire from exhaustion’

‘What the- Okay Mr. Dream, whatever you fucking say’

‘It is whatever I’d say, so that’d better be a compliment.’

‘It wasn’t.’

Their conversation was interrupted when Blair tugged Gouki and Beau to the table with her, snapping him back to reality. He’d completely missed her letting go and teasing Beau, as well as their conversation. Ah well, they were both likely used to him tuning out like that from time to time. It was only when they got close to the table that he registered the smell of the food, which prompted his stomach to growl intensely. After sitting down, he flashed Blair a smile with his two rows of freakishly sharp teeth.

“Thank you Blair! You’re a Saint, to both of us.” He’d chuckle before picking up his fork and eagerly wolfing down his food. As usual, she’d gotten the food stuff, so breakfast wouldn’t be as depressing as it had been in the past.

‘That THING is no saint’

‘And who are you to judge? You literally look like a demon in my head’

‘Out appearances are the same you moron’

‘Not when you’re in that form they’re not.’

‘You utilize the same form!’

‘But I don’t always, do I?’

‘Because you are weak.’

‘Uh huh, whatever you say Goomba teeth.’

Gouki would tune out the string of profanity Atlas uttered after that remark, instead focusing on his food.

that odd lump in the bed his cellmate had laid eyes upon was, in fact, an asher shaped lump. the boy lay curled up beneath the covers on his side, one wing layered over his body while the other draped over the edge of the bed, mostly covered by blanket. the voice over the speaker had, of course, woken him up, and oliver getting up hadn’t gone unnoticed either, but he’d give that another five minutes before he even bothered moving.

when his cellmate left the room, proven by retreating footsteps and the closing of the door, asher flipped the blanket off his head and stared blankly at the wall for a solid few seconds. he’d really rather go back to sleep; burrow further into whatever mess of a bed he’d made but — there was a rash knock at the door, courtesy of one of the guards waiting outside to escort him to the cafeteria like the good little dog they knew he wasn’t.

another moment, and asher ended his staring contest with the wall. he exhaled harshly from his nose and then sat up, turning away to face the side of the bed and plant his feet on the floor. he slept shirtless usually, so he simply snatched a short sleeved, open-backed shirt from his pile of clean clothing and slipped his arms through. he reached behind him, maneuvering around his wings, and buttoned the shirt where it connected at the top and the bottom.

asher was in the middle of replacing his loose pajama bottoms with dark, mid-length pants, one foot halfway into the leg, when another knock sounded at the door. this one was more urgent, and although neither of the guards outside spoke, there was the unmistakable sound of one clearing their throat to gain his attention.

he stumbled slightly in surprise at the noise, tail flailing out behind him to restore balance and one hand thumping, open palmed, into the wall to hold up his weight. asher sent a little glare towards the door and slipped his other leg through the pants.

after stopping at the bathroom, running a clawed hand through his hair a few times and picking quickly through some of the feathers in his wings, asher slid the door open and leveled the guards with sharp yellow eyes.

“if i hadn’t come out, how much time would you have wasted waiting?” he asked with a blank look of curiosity. neither of the guards satisfied him with a reply, but asher really wasn’t expecting one. he’d found the usuals had learned to keep quiet when around him.

good on them, he supposed.

the boy slipped out the door, metaphorical mask on, wings purposefully hanging loose and relaxed at his back, and the two guards fell into step behind him. the heavy sound of their boots and asher’s clawed feet clicking on the tile floor was the only noise in the empty hallway to the cafeteria.

he’d considered being annoying, considered making these guards have an even more terrible day than they already were going to have, but it was morning. it was morning and asher hadn’t slept well, and who the hell had the energy to get on someone else’s nerves when you couldn’t even go three seconds without breaking your jaw in a yawn?

also, he was hungry.

asher could smell the shitty cafeteria food from here and yeah, like he said, it was shitty, but he really really wasn’t picky when it came to food. he’d probably eat whatever was put in front of him without complaint.

the familiar doors to the cafeteria came into view, and asher shoved them open without any regard for the guards following him. the crooked little smile quirking his lips up was the only reaction he had to the surprised grunt from behind and the sound of one of the guards quickly moving a hand forwards to stop the doors from closing on them.

asher didn’t falter, striding forwards to grab a plate and the same food they served every morning. he slumped into a seat at one of the lone tables, mouth opening in yet another yawn and revealing a set of sharp teeth, before he planted his elbow on the table and rested his chin upon his hand. the other taloned hand picked at the fruit on his plate and popped one into his mouth as he surveyed the rest of the room.

Damien

Damien managed to avoid everyone else on the way to the caf. That, or he was still too drowsy to have noticed anyone else in passing. It wasn't a long walk from the dorm hall to the cafeteria, so it wasn't long before he was pushing open the doors, and faced with that dreaded question: who to sit with?

The choices were... not great. Blair's table was right out. He didn't have anything against the others sitting there, but that girl had always given him the creeps, and he found that avoiding her as subtly and as often as possible was the best course of action. There was the class E girl, which could be interesting, but probably not great for keeping a good reputation with the guards. Asher had always intimidated him, with the significant height difference and inhuman mutations. He could always just go sit with Felix, but if he way being honest, he was still lowkey irritated about the early morning sleep disruption. So that left Oliver. Damien hadn't really interacted with the guy much, even with the diminishing numbers around here. He knew he was a few years older, but other than that the guy was a bit of a mystery. He'd could take his chances with mystery.

Breakfast food wasn't really his thing, so Damien just grabbed an apple from among the fruit available, and made his way over to the mostly empty table. "Uh, hey man, mind if I join?" he said after clearing his throat. Hopefully Oliver wouldn't be offended by having his solitude invaded. There was always the possibility that someone sitting by themself was doing it for a reason, they weren't exactly the most emotionally stable group of teens after all.

Gabe Gabe

Oliver had his tray of soggy hashbrowns and orange juice aside, lazily doodling in his notebook. He had the habit of losing himself in his daydreams whenever he sat with his notebook, which was often. Either by drawing scenes, types of equipment for the members of both factions in his "universe", or just stories of various themes, he was content in just expanding the lore of his own delusions. It wasn't a conscious choice, but one that was imposed by him during his high school days and on juvie, being ostracized by his eccentricity. This day, however, was an exception. Damien approached his table when Oliver was in the process of shoving a rather large piece of pancake in his mouth, which prompted Oliver to quickly(and painfully) swallow the pancake without chewing, his power acting on its own, using a small portion of energy stored from the previous day to create a hand on the cover of the notebook, quickly closing it shut with a deaf "swat". "Um, no, not at all!" Oliver said, trying his hardest to appear friendly and harmless, a syrup covered smile on his face. He knew Damien, the one with the power of the Ruined Aura, as Oliver liked to call it. He had names for everyone's powers stored away in a few notebooks on his growing collection.

He gave off an awkward laugh and wiped away his mouth on a napkin, the dark light hand pulling Oliver's notebook closer to him. "By all means, you're free to sit next to me, but do so by your own accord. The eyes of the Unconquered Sun are everywhere, and if they see you consorting with the champion of the Eclipsed Moon, they shall mark you as well." He said, puffing up his chest, trying to sound brave and ominous, but all he managed to do was to sound absolutely insane.

Beau~
Beau hummed at their friend, covering their eyes with their hands -even though their skin is kind of translucent so it didn't do much- rather than leaving, not really understanding what privacy means. Once Gouki was done with his business they happily skipped behind him, bouncing happily on the tips of their toes. They beamed happily at their friends' exchange and smiled widely when Blair turned her affection towards them. Giving her a bear hug as well, giggling lightly as she played with their cheeks.

Beau happily sat on the bench, cross-legged as they hummed and grabbed food, inserting it into their mouth and swallowing without bothering to chew. Their favourite breakfast food was the strawberries, they made them feel happy inside, they also looked very cute. At Blair waving at a friend Beau also waved energetically calling out happily, "Hi there um... Felvis!" Beau spoke happily, not noticing their brain failure. It tended to do that sometimes, "You and your friend can join us if you want!"

At the sound of Valentina's other roommate, she flinched, giving the girl a tired glance, "Uh... no thanks, I am just going to skip today." she mumbled out, pushing her back against the wall harder. This was both to ground herself as well as move her farther away from the other girl. She wasn't as bad as Blair but she still unsettled Valentina. Why couldn't anyone in this facility be normal in any way?

Pulling up her hood she rested her head on her knees as she anxiously waited for the other girl to do something, or at least move. She listened to every sound in the room, feeling herself tense up with every movement she heard. She just couldn't wait till they left her alone. A sweet moment of relief would finally be granted to her. She wished that the others let her have her own room. She tried to escape once, the only real reason was to get away from that nut job Blair. Still, they refused to move her. She hated it so much. She just wanted to be away from that freak.
