Name
: Clan name first, given name second

Age: How old is your character. Clan leaders tend to be older, with the position of Daimyo often only falling to younger generations in times of great strife so keep that in mind if your character is intended to be the leader of their family

Gender: Self-explanatory

Appearance: What do they look like?

Family and power: What clan do you fight for? Are they a major or minor family? Major families hold vast territory and hold many lesser families subservient. Minor clans in turn have sworn their loyalty to a master for one reason or another in exchange for a cut of the land and spoils. Ninja and demon clans are always considered minor clans.

Clan Emblem: The icon that represents your clan to the world at large. These tend to be fairly simple in design, typically focusing on geometric shapes.

Allegiance: Do you stand in the name of the emperor or the shogunate? For minor clans also note the name of the clan you serve under.

Race: Demons are rare but they do exist and, on occasion, sometimes throw their lot in with one family or another for reasons usually known only to themselves. Most characters will be human however.

Personality: What do they act like and how do others perceive them? What are their goals and what are they willing to do to achieve them?

Bio: Your personal history. The war started only a year ago but the strife it has caused has already been calamitous. What was your characters life like before the war? How has the conflict affected them and those near to them? Do they have any animosity towards another family and why have they sided with the faction they’ve chosen? What are their ambitions beyond just fighting the war and what do they intend to do when it’s over? These are just a few ideas, so feel free to add any other details you can think of.

Weapons & Personal Belongings: You don’t have to include everything your character has, but signature weapons or those important enough to have a name, as well as mementos that are important to the character are mentioned here.

Name: Katagami Masaki

Age: 31

Gender: Male

Appearance:
large.jpg

Family and power: Head of the Katagami family. While nominally a major clan, a recent civil war within the clan has reduced it to less than a third of its former power.

Clan Emblem:
mon_256.png

Allegiance: Shogunate

Race: Human

Personality: Masaki is known to some as the “Katagami Viper” and that is a name he’s done nothing to separate himself from. His actions during the Katagami civil war earned him a reputation for being conniving and completely merciless to a degree that often concerns even his allies.

As one would expect, he often comes off as cold and aloof in personal conversation with a tendency towards veiled threats and insults. It’s likely that if it weren’t for his noted tactical acumen and unquestionable loyalty to the cause he would likely have been removed from power by the shogunate forces already.

Bio: Born the second of Lord Katagami Masanori’s seven sons, Masaki was always the most skilled of his siblings and by far his father’s favorite. A fact that had always infuriated his elder brother Masanobu to no end. While the two had always shared a less than friendly rivalry, Masaki had never fully grasped the full extent of Masanobu’s hatred towards him until the day it came crashing down on him.

When the Emperor decreed the end of samurai rule Lord Masanori was one of the first to defy him, quickly proclaiming his loyalty to the Shogun’s growing cause. While many were conflicted on what to do next Masanobu made his move, taking his personal entourage to the Lord’s castle he quickly captured and executed his father in the name of “Imperial justice” and proclaiming that the Katagami clan would remain true to the emperor above all else under his own watchful guidance.

Masaki barely had time to suspect his brother’s true motives before a band of Masanobu’s troops attack his own entourage as they were traveling to the Lord’s castle. Masaki brought forth this evidence and declared he would bring Masanobu to justice but all save one of his brothers, the third, Masahiro, refused to hear his call choosing instead to throw their lot in with the chosen heir. Masahiro further elaborated that in truth, most of Masaki’s brothers had cared much for him, jealous of either his talents or their father’s affection for him, and stated bluntly that in truth he himself had only sided with him out of pity more than anything else. This revelation hit Masaki understandably hard and he flew into a fit of despair followed by indignant fury, and then nothing. As if all his emotions had come out at once, Masaki’s heart grew hard. Mustering whatever forces were still loyal to him, his father, or the shogunate, he began his moves against his brothers. Several bloody months soon passed and five of the Katagami brothers, including the treacherous Masanobu and loyal Masahiro, laid dead. Only Masaki, who for his had been scarred on mind, soul, and body by near constant battles and assassination attempts, and his youngest brother Masao who had abandoned the clan at the onset of the war still remained.

Despite the traumas he’s faced, Masaki has not rested even after his so called victory, lending his forces and personal skill to the shogunate wherever he can, perhaps out of spite for his fallen brothers, believing that winning the war for the Shogun would be one last insult to their legacy, or perhaps simply because he no longer knows what else to do and the war at least gives him some sense of purpose. Either way, Masaki isn’t telling.

Weapons & Personal Belongings:

  • Sword of the Katagami - a familial blade said to have been gifted to the clan’s first lord by the first shogun nearly a millenia ago. With a strange double edged design crafted from an unknown white metal, the blade is considered to be a divine relic by some.

  • Masaki wears five white bands tied on his left arm, each representing a fallen brother. He never takes these off.

Name: Oniware, Mizuaki

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Appearance:phpfbk317.jpg

Family and power: Oniware is a clan full of those who had nowhere else to go. Those who the world had neglected they are a mercenary group who will just about anything for the right amount of money. They all hold a deep hate for the emperor the very idea of the gods fill them with rage. Since most members of the clan are those who have been rejected by the world many act like the demons of old stories. Clan Emblem:phpoataV8.jpg

Allegiance: Shogunate

Race: Human

Personality: Mizuaki is 100 percent the nicest member of the Oniware clan often seen smiling and joking around. While she might seem harmless in combat her true nature is shown. Mizuaki seems to find the greatest join in life when she is in the heat of combat her life on the line. For this she was given the nickname “Takemika” short for Takemikazuchi-no-kami. She is also self conscious of the fact she looks like a boy. When it is brought up Mizuaki’s mood is clearly downed.

Mizuaki thinks of the Oniware clan and those in it as her family. Often trying to make those in it proud of her by doing anything she can to prove herself in a fight. She tends to tease and bug Shugachi finding joy in upsetting them. Mizuaki shares the same idea of the emperor as the others in Oniware she hates him. Filled with rage at the very mention of pathetic stuff like ‘Divine right.”

Bio: Mizuaki was found in the woods by a group of bandits when she was 6. Her parents seemed to of just left her not having the money to support the extra mouth. The bandits took her in and put her to work. Having her lure unsuspecting individuals into the woods only for the bandits to rob and most likely murder them. As she got older they begin having her join in the killing when all the bandits would fall asleep Mizuaki would train in secret. All in preparation to kill the bandits in their sleep. Lucky for her Oniware did it for her the mercenaries were hired by a local village to kill the bandits. Finding Mizuaki they decided to take her in at first Mizuaki’s guard was up. Her plan hadn’t changed the number of corpse had just risen and the target changed. She was still planning to kill them all in their sleep no matter how many there were.
That changed when she met Shugachi when she looked into his eyes she saw herself in them. She felt the people here understood her and she began seeing the clan as her family. She now hopes to make them all proud on in their newest mission of helping the Shogunate. Mizuaki can’t seem to wait for when they execute the emperor. After the war is all said and done Mizuaki hopes to spend her pay on tons of sweets.

Clan Emblem:

Allegiance: the emperor

Race: Human

Personality:

Known for being reliable, practical, ambitious and having an eye for beauty. Romaji is willing and ready to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and the needy, even if it means that he would have to endure hardships or losses. You can count him, he will not leave you disappointed. Many who deal with him comment about him being down to earth, polite and pleasantly mannered. Patience is a virtue and Romaji possess it aplenty. He believes in doing the job right rather than being the first one to do the job. He prefers to be independent and strong so that they don’t have to look for support when life throws hardships his way. Once he sets his eyes on something, Romaji will persistently put in all his efforts to get it. Failures and setbacks rarely dampen his spirits. Although easy going and respectful, he can be unbelievably stubborn and inflexible in his approach. So much so that when the logical arguments don’t suit him, he will just refuse to listen! While he is patient, he is also lazy, especially when ordered to do something. He will not move a muscle till he is motivated to get up and work

Bio: Born the first and only son of Lord Kurēn Furo, Romaji was always given a heavy burden to bare. From an early age, he was taught and pressure into becoming someone that could lead and strengthen those around him. While upholding the family's honor. Not given much of a childhood, he was sheltering from an early age because of the fact he was the only heir. He was taught the way of the samurai by many noble clan’s and his father. He also was taught how their clan believes it the flow of nature. How everything is constantly changing in tiny ways, in order to improve the world for the next generation. The growing tense from the political climate soon reached their ears and his father sided with the emperor, but try to stay out of any conflicts. His father claimed that one must look out for all not just their own self-interests.

His father became ill a few months before the emperor’s order. Looking to his father for guidance, Romaji was torn on what to do. That is when his father gave him full control and said he should do what he feels is best. With that he called a meeting with the heads of his loyal clan’s men. They discussed his father's condition and who they should side within the war to come. During this discussion Romaji repeated something he father said to him. That change happens so that the world can become better for those of the next generation. He believes the shogunate is not looking out for the best of the people, but more so to keep their power. He then put his trust into the divine right of the emperor and led his clan into war. The word quickly spread about his aligning with the emperor and one night while away for a diplomatic mission, he had learned some shogunate supporters had invaded their land and slaughtered many, including his to be wife. Now he is putting his knowledge, troops, and resources into ending the shogunate and living a life without the burden of another or the thought of killing.

Weapons & Personal Belongings:

- Gentle crane: his personal blade crafted for him. A sword that is generally longer and more curved than your typical katana, with the curvature centered from the middle and towards the tang.

- First aid supplies and bandages

Name: Komori Takahiro

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Appearance:
020798.jpg

Family and power: The Komori clan is a medium sized clan that have gained their strength more recently than the other powerful clans. The Komori have lordship over three minor clans and are experts in night fighting. The Komori also have a large amount of muskets from the days of the demon wars. The combination of superb night fighters and large amount of muskets make a very formidable army.

Clan Emblem:
kanji_flag_6.jpg

Allegiance: The Emperor

Race: Human

Personality: Takahiro unpredictable man. One moment he could order that all his surrendered opponents be let go only to change his mind a few minutes later and have them hunted down. This is not to say he is cruel but he likes to keep both his friends and foes guessing. Takahiro is also very ambitious, he portably would never dream of becoming the emperor but the becoming Shogun is another matter entirely.

Bio: Takahiro was born the only male heir of the Komori clan. He had two older sisters and one younger so his father payed special attention to him. From his father he learned the ways of the sword and how to govern, but it was from watching his sisters that he learned his most important lessons. He would watch his sisters, observe their actions and the consequences of those actions, then he would take that information and use it to his own advantage. Using that knew skill he acquired he began to manipulate the opinions of the clan, making his own popularity soar while simultaneously having his siblings and fathers reputations slowly decrease.

When Takahiro came of age his father forced him into marrying the daughter of one of their neighboring clans. The newlyweds despised each other at first but slowly grew to love each other, but more importantly Takahiro had a new source of power. Coming up with an ambitious plan, Takahiro and his wife made many trips to his wife’s birth clan where they met with her parents many times.

Around the time Takahiro was 18 three events would take place that would lead to Takahiro’s rise to power. The first event was the birth of his first son. With another male heir in place in case of Takahiro’s death, Takahiro’s father began to grow less worried and more relaxed, lowering his guard around his son. The second event to happen was the Death of Takahiro’s father in law. With their clan leaders death, Takahiro’s wife’s birth clan fell into civil war between the oldest son( 27) and the youngest son(13). Using his influence in both clans, Takahiro managed to convince many retainers of both clans to support the youngest son who eventually won the war and became clan leader. However everyone knew that the young clan leader was only puppet and that the true leader was the man who had garnered so much support for the young boy. The third event was a simple assassination attempt on his father’s life by a rival nearby clan that left the clan leader wounded and left the clan regent in control, it just so happened that the clan leader was Takahiro.

Takahiro rallied the Komori and its allied clan together and waged war on the would be assassins, beating them into submission and forcing them to become Komori vassals. Eventually Takahiro’s father recovered and took over the clan for another five years until the wound reopened and he died of infection.

Now at age 26 Takahiro sat upon the throne of the Komori clan. The first thing he did was make his wife’s Birth clan who had been allies to the Komori into a vassal. After that he waged war on the last nearby small clan. Once they were forced to submit as vassals Takahiro’s rise to power was complete. Since then he has ruled his clan peacefully, only ever partaking in small skirmishes with other clans, at least that was until the war broke out. Durng this time of peace Takahiro discovered the large amount of muskets his clan had in their possession and he incorporated them into his army making them into a force to be feared.

Knowing full well that his clan was sworn to fight for the Emperor, Takahiro took up the call to war and began to march against the rebel shogun. This war was not without profit, if he took the head of the Shogun then by divine right Takahiro could become the right hand of the emperor, Takahiro could become the Shogun.

Family and power: Currently a Ronin and so represents the Katagami

Clan Emblem:
jashin_religion_by_bluemoonfoxx.jpg
This is the symbol that is on the back of his haori at least. Currently attached to the Katagami.

Allegiance: Shogunate

Race: Kitsune (8 tails)

Personality: Yori has quite a playful personality and will avoid being serious if it is possible, he also lives in the moment, as much as possible he doesn't think about what has happened or what will happen. This form of thinking comes from having lived a long time and knows what happens if you try to comprehend near immortality. Yori's attention span is very short and so he will often skip from task to task, eventually they should all end up done but possibly via several other tasks on the way. Although Yori will occasionally use small amounts of his power for tricks and other 'petty' concerns he actually guards what he is very carefully, only a select few humans know what he is and they are people that he trusts explicitly. In the normal day to day the only parts of his power that he draws on is the eyesight and some of his speed. Yori joined the shogunate because he was bored and he didn't think that he could deal with being on the emperors side and constantly listen to them talk about the emperors divinity. He also is having quite a bit of fun as a male Human at the moment, most kitsune manifest as young women but Yori decided to mix it up for a change.

Bio: Yori was born into a period when, although the emperor had absolute authority, there was a lot of in fighting between clans and famillies, the demon wars were over and the families had finished recovering enough that the small territorial conflicts and cutthroat politics that had been solved mostly peacefully, because no one could afford the men for even small skirmishes lest the bandits take advantage, now provoked a much more military response. He was fortunate in that memory of the wars were also fading so although sightings of foxes brought suspicion it no longer brought immediate hunts like it used to. He spent his early years as most kitsune do just investigating, the rampant curiosity of their race combined with a trickster nature drew even young ones to human settlements. His beginning years when he could assume human form was mostly spent enacting all of those tricks that he had planned for the previous 100 years from small gambling games, to in one case tricking himself into a position as mayor of a town, but it turned out he had no head for bureaucracy he found it just to tedious. When the family disputes, including those that he had meddled with, began to die down again he decided that it might be fun to learn what all of those people who he saw with sword learnt, if only to make it easier to avoid conflict with bandits. So he got himself into a samurai school, although the structures chafed un-believably and many of his sensei experienced an increase in the number of 'accidents' that befell them and several areas of the town began to think that they must be haunted, he did eventually graduate with an excellent combat grounding, his increased speed and reactions making up any lack of skill. He then spent around 100 years working as a ronin and often studying at different schools however even with his trickery he often found himself bored. This lead him to look out over the sea and wonder what else existed in the world to sate his curiosity.

For the next period of his life he spent a lot of time exploring the rest of Asia and even drifting into parts of Africa and Europe, his restless mind always prompting him to keep moving and not settle down. While he was in China he came across a man being held in a river with by several large men with an official looking man overseeing. After a noticing that they didn't appear to be letting him up Yori walked over and with a flick of his wrist all of the executioners fled at the, illusionary, sight of a river spirit rising to scold them for trying to drown a man in it's river. Rescuing the man revealed that he was a rather renowned sword smith but he smithed for that warlords enemy and refused to defect. Yori stayed with the man for a number of years doing odd jobs and helping out the warlord while at the same time learning the skills of the forge from the smith, as he left he was presented with Tento, a sword he carries with him to this day.

Among the mongols and the people of the russian steppes he learnt horseback riding and mounted combat, while in the deserts of the middle east he learnt tracking and horseback archery. Among his travels he learnt many more things but the most important thing is that he met people who could understand him and meeting these people taught him that although travelling was good but the occasional visit home could only do so much, this led him to return to japan and discover that unlike the peaceful environment that he had left the situation was rapidly becoming closer to conditions around his birth with the families and clans once more at each others throats with short tempers. The large families called on those who had pledged allegiance convoys travelled the lands with many armed guards. Discovering that after taking a long break with only a few flying visits that Japan had changed once again and was becoming exciting Yori re entered his old trade as a ronin however unlike last time he had decided to go for a younger man instead of his normal choices, in memory he crafted his appearance off the smith that he had met in china oh so long ago.

personal history. The war started only a year ago but the strife it has caused has already been calamitous. What was your characters life like before the war? How has the conflict affected them and those near to them? Do they have any animosity towards another family and why have they sided with the faction they’ve chosen? Weapons & Personal Belongings:
Kage - A tanto that Yori will try to carry on him whenever he is in human form, The blade was made from steel but was forged and blackened inside of kitsunebi (Fox fire).
Tento - A chokutō in a deep green saya that was a gift from a smith that he once saved from being drowned.
A necklace with 8 beads on it, if you looked really closely there was a name inscribed on each bead and each bead was made over a different colour of stone. These beads contain the names of everybody to whom he told his true nature on his travels.

- Tessen fans

Strong backstory and motivation. Not to mention he's probably the most obviously heroic character so far. I'll have to create an imperial character soon, maybe a ronin working for his clan if he doesn't mind having a sidekick. He's accepted.

Both are pretty good. Overall a pretty solid take on the whole "mercenary clan" thing. I find it kind of funny that the shogunate forces are shaping up to be a bunch of bloodthirsty sociopaths. They're accepted.

Name: Komori Takahiro

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Appearance:
View attachment 304985

Family and power: The Komori clan is a medium sized clan that have gained their strength more recently than the other powerful clans. The Komori have lordship over three minor clans and are experts in night fighting. The Komori also have a large amount of muskets from the days of the demon wars. The combination of superb night fighters and large amount of muskets make a very formidable army.

Clan Emblem:
View attachment 304984

Weapons & Personal Belongings:

Bladed, Gunbai fan: A solid iron war fan that has bladed edges. Can be used as a bludgeon and a blade.

Yoru no Ken”Sword of night”: A black steel katana that has been in his family for three generations.

An interesting character with a strong background and great motivation. Though between his personality and goals he seems a little unstable. I like him a lot. Definitely accepted.

Name: Hashimoto Yori

Age: 840

Gender: Male (Mostly)

Appearance:View attachment 304980 With a light blue haori with dark blue waves along the bottom. Yori wears his Tento hanging in the small of his back with Kage hanging by his waist.
He has orange eyes and if he gets annoyed they can often distort slightly to be more vertical. Additionally the skin down the front of his neck and chest is of a noticibly lighter hue than the tanned hue of the rest of his skin.

Family and power: Currently a Ronin and so represents

Clan Emblem:
jashin_religion_by_bluemoonfoxx.jpg
This is the symbol that is on the back of his haori at least.

What are their ambitions beyond just fighting the war and what do they intend to do when it’s over? These are just a few ideas, so feel free to add any other details you can think of.

Weapons & Personal Belongings:
Kage - A tanto that Yori will try to carry on him whenever he is in human form, The blade was made from steel but was forged and blackened inside of kitsunebi (Fox fire).
Tento - A Chokuto in a deep green saya that was a gift from a smith that he once saved from being drowned.
A necklace with 8 beads on it, if you looked really closely there was a name inscribed on each bead and each bead was made over a different colour of stone. These beads contain the names of everybody to whom he told his true nature on his travels.
SAIGO-NO-HEATS SAIGO-NO-HEATS

You know, I hadn't really decided whether this story took place in the real world or not (THough I was leaning more towards the full fantasy angle, hence why I've never actually referred to the nation as Japan), but I guess this pretty much decides it for me huh?

Anyway, he's good overall. While I do have some minor nitpicks (i.e. I was hoping to avoid ronin since loner characters can sometimes be hard to integrate into the story, but given his nature it would be easy enough to just have him be travelling along with one of the existing shogunate clans. Also how would a chinese blacksmith from centuries ago create a custom katana when that type of sword wouldn't be invented until around 1400? Although by that logic the samurai's 1000 year history in this setting would also make no sense since they wouldn't come into existance until around 1100. Maybe the demon wars were a global problem that stunted technological growth to the point that things are still medieval a millenia later? Maybe it's actually around 2100 by our calendar? It lends itself to some interesting ideas but I digress.)

Anyway, yeah he's all good.

Name: Fujimoto Ayako

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Family and power: The de facto leader of the Fujimoto Clan, a major clan, albeit one that has slowly decayed in strength. Due to a large fire, her parents and subsequent family members of authority died, placing power of the clan in her baby brother. Ayako has become her brother's sole guardian, and therefore wields as much power as he would have. The clan controls two minor clans. Notable for their breeding and training of high quality horses, and therefore cavalry.

Clan Emblem:
full

Allegiance: Emperor

Race: Human

Personality: Ayako is normally pretty relaxed. She loves to do horse riding and traveling. She likes to mess with people and have some fights every now and then. She is very approachable to most, more as a male than that of a female. Seen by most as a dedicated figure, Ayako has a number of supporters among her territory beyond that of being a clan family member. She's well versed in administration and combat, but she's rather just relax. While she doesn't show it casually, she burns with vengeance for her parents when in combat. Of course, she's also motivated to expand her clan's power, but she, like everyone else, expects that to come with victory in the war.

Bio: From her birth, Ayako was trained with the spirit of a warrior. She was trained to handle mounted combat, the use of a bow and a sword. This of course would've had a considerable amount of resistance from the minor clans and advisors, but with her mother suffering an illness from childbirth and the lack of a male heir, considerable efforts were made by her father to preserve the clan through her. She engaged in the arts normally attributed to men, in combat and administration. Ayako became the son that never was, gaining considerable skill in mounted sword fighting.

At the age of 20, her baby brother was born, after her mother insisted on having a son. This led her days being less about combat, and more about being a female, now that there was a male to take the family name. She wasn't so much frustrated with her brother, as she was annoyed with the frivolities of the proper lady's work. She never grew to resent her brother, instead accepting him as a solution to her parent's nagging woes. With all those around her at ease, and with it her freedom, her goals turned to the simple leisure of horse riding and traveling. Her attitude lightened to a very carefree and relaxed attitude, no longer strict and disciplined as she was during her training.

When war broke out, the family's allegiance was immediately sought after, as they held a formidable cavalry force. Due to their distance from the capital, they weren't caught up with the politics of the realm, and were, for the longest time, seen as a neutral party. That changed when a plot was set to knock the clan out of any possible conflict by those who allied with the shogunate. During a formal meeting between the parents and a neighboring clan, the building they were stay at was burned to the ground, killing the clan leaders. After days of morning, Ayako was presented to with evidence from the family's closest allies that the plot was one formed by the allies of the shogunate.

With the training invested in her, and the backing of her advisors and allies, she took control over the clan and declared herself ally of the emperor. While her main motivator is one of vengeance, she has since calmed her head and now also seeks to expand her clan's influence.

Weapons & Personal Belongings:
Kodachi - Sword with ornate hilt. Gifted as a present from the minor clans as an acknowledgement of her power.
Miki - A wonderfully strong and fast horse that she has maintained as a personal companion.

A clan known for working with demons wouldn't survive very long, especially under the Shogunate, who REALLY aren't fond of them. Similarly if he was just wildly killing members of major clans nobody would want him around so you'll need to justify why either faction would tolerate him.

Beyond that he could use a bit more detail in both his bio and personality, maybe some more exploration into his life prior to being brainwashed and how he changed afterwards, that would help generate a bit of conflict and possibly open roads for people from his past life to enter the story, which could make for some cool conflicts down the road.

Needs work.

There are quite a few grammatical errors here. Please make sure to be more careful of those once we get into the RP proper.

Beyond that she's fine, though if there's one thing I'd ask for, I'd like just a short throw away line about how she fights. Like you say that she started training when she was 10, so if you could just elaborate whether he training was in swordsmanship, archery, magic, etc. it would help define what her actual role in battle is.

Also, more personal preference so not nearly required but maybe throw in a detail about the man who killed her parents. Like just one detail about the man who killed her parents like a scar or tattoo or the color of his hair, eyes or cloths. Just to start of get the juices flowing since he seems like he'd be an important character. As well as maybe a bit about her bodyguard, unless you plan on making him a full sheet later.

During the times of demon wars many turned to and pledged their banners to the Tsuchimikado Clan in return for their aid. The small minor clan under the Tsuchimikado is actually a branch family responsible for using their Onmyodo for forging weapons and armor for the Tsuchimikado clan and for those under them who they deem worthy. This lesd to the Tsuchimikado amassing much support and power.

This is a specific supernatural art that was born of several other supernatural arts that is practiced by the Onmyouji. It is a blend of yin-yang, wu xing, 8 trigrams, alchemy, ofuda, divination and similar supernatural arts, making Onmyodo something like a super art. The core of Onmyodo is the understanding and manipulation of the two opposing forces yin and yang. It’s original purpose was to be used against evil apparitions such a demons, yokai, and other such entities. When one becomes an Onmyouji they gain a spiritually awareness, a sort of sixth sense that allows them to sense supernatural things.

Sometimes referred to as Ofuda, Onmyouji can inscribe esoteric symbols or runes upon paper to create paper charms. These can cast simple elemental spells such a fiery explosions and solid rock walls. They are used to set up barriers and wards to keep unwanted entities away. Th are good for exorcising possessed beings and for sealing entities away. They can also be used as a form of long range communication depending on how skilled the user is with their extra sensory perception skills. The use of paper charms is common for lower class Onmyouji as middle and higher class Onmyouji can cast spells without them.

Middle class Onmyouji can cast magic using the Wu Xing elemental manipulation The Five Wu Xing elements are Fire, Earth, Water, Wood, and Metal each have an element they are superior to and elements they work well with. These five elements can be manipulated in their normal forms or combined in various combinations to make new elements such as magma and acid.

High class onmyouji can use the 64 commands of the hexagrams formed by the 8 trigrams. These 64 commands can be order and used in various sequences to cast various spells. The complexity of these spells outclass the complexity of the Wu Xing elements which is why an Onmyouji able to use the 64 commands is consider high class and generally a master of the art.

Onmyouji are known for being able to summon spirits known as shikigami. Shikigami have various levels of power and abilities but also require an onmyouji above or equal to their level to manage them. If an onmyouji cannot manage their Shikigami and lose control over it, the Shikigami can end up attacking its summoner.

Family and power
The Alikomo clan is one of ancient lineage and ancient honor. Always maintaining its loyalty to the Emperor, even though it cost them vast amounts of power. Today they are seen as a minor clan, but a respected one. Dula claims no name, so when he is summoned and given contract he dawns the name of the contractor, to hide his true intentions. Dula was approached by the Daimyo of clan Alikomo who, in his old age, knew that his few sons may not survive to take on his burden as leader of the clan. The Daimyo's offer was irresistible, he would give his soul to Dula before he could die of old age, so a deal was struck.

Allegiance
"Defend the Emperor and those who serve him. Once his strongest enemies are in the ground, the contract will be finished."

Race
Shinigami

Personality
Dula is a lively and indulging Demon. Unless he is being hunted he is somewhat sweet and caring towards the downtrodden. Remnants of his memories conflict with his eternal hunger when ever he sees those he believes to be done wrong by dissidents. Whenever facing Dula in combat, one may feel the warmth of those they love, for Dula is not a hate filled entity and nothing he does is out of hate, making those who are near death happy is his best quality. Everyone must eat to survive and Dula doesn't take his dealings personally, even Demons must feed.

Bio
Dula was created when the broken soul of a young boy manifested into a Shinigami. The boy was of no clan, and was of no lineage, his father was a tailor and his mother was a handmaiden for a lowly noblewoman. The boy had always dreamed to be a great warrior, and when given the time he practiced fighting with a wooden sword. Upon the eve of his father's birthday a neighboring clan attacked the boy's village for something they had nothing to do with. When the boy's father was struck down a broken heart flushed him of his fear. Though with futile resistance, the boy attacked the murderer with his wooden blade. In the warrior's confusion he slashed the boy across his chest without mercy. Although the murderer was later executed for killing a child, the damage had been done and the boy's broken soul helped manifest Dula into existence. For the last three hundred years Dula has slaughtered countless men and women, but never in hate or anger. The remnants of the child's soul always making him affectionate and sorrowful towards those he killed. Turning the tides of wars, bringing down ancients clans, and creating new ones, Dula may have been behind many a revolution.

Family and power:He fights for his own clan, the Chosokabe. A major clan, they, through direct control or minor clan loyalties, own much of the southern island of Kyushu. The clan is a master of ranged weapons. I say ranged weapons in general because they do have a proud, notable tradition with the bow, the musket is being taken up in ever-increasing numbers, especially by the Ashigaru, the peasants of the clan. The port city in Nagahira in the south has been declared open with the outbreak of hostilities and in defiance of the Emperor's Isolation edicts. The Portugese, Spanish, British, Dutch, and Swedes are known to trade with the Chosokabe. The Chosokabe are also perhaps the only clan within Japan to have such knowledge traded with foreigners as to have their own gunsmiths, albeit in small numbers, for now. Being an island nation, they have also built a powerful navy designed to deny an invading army access.

Allegiance: Well... shogun, as he will lose everything if the Imperials win. That said, assuming he could get a proclaimation from the Emperor assuring his family would keep their lands he may well be convinced to defect.

Race: Human

Personality: Aegeria is a brave, loyal warrior who lives Bushido and seeks to fufill it in all of it's forms. His name is one of the most respected in Japan, and he strives to maintain the image of an honorable Samurai.
Bio: Aegeria was born in Perriko(Fictitious), the capital of the Tosa province over which his clan ruled for generations. He was brought up as the son and heir to a powerful clan would be expected to be, learning the art of war, reading ancient and modern literature, and seeking to improve himself as a human being. As he grew into adulthood, he took more and more responsibility within the clan. He commanded his father's armies at age 20, putting down with fitting brutality the rebellion of a minor clan in his father's service who dared try to march upon Perriko. His father was a genius, who's reforms laid the groundwork for the clan's prosperity. At age 32, Aegeria's father passed on and he took over the title of Daimyo. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to continue the reforms of his father, opening the Province more to foreigners, and building up the Chosokabe clan's armies for an eventual expedition to the mainland in support of the Shogun, the rightful ruler of Japan. Or... to become said ruler!

Weapons & Personal Belongings:
They aren't really named, but Aegeria does carry an odachi, a naginata, or a yumi into battle, with, of course, the largely ceremonial katana-wakizashi combo at his side.

Name: Mibu Kyoshirou

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Ishida.Mitsunari.%28Sengoku.Basara%29.full.743313.jpg

Family and power: The Mibu Clan is arguably one of the best demon clans not even reporting to a major clan but to the Emperor himself. The Mibu clan was formed by those who were part human and part yokai and then later joined by the Hyakki Yagyo. The original Mibu clan was gathered by Kyoshirou Mibu the half human half yokai son of Nurarihyon, Kyo went all across Japan gathering individuals who like him were yokai human hybrids forming a small demon clan. But when Nurarihyon let Kyo succeed him as commander of the Hyakki Yagyo, the two groups became one under the Mibu banner and name. Although members of the Hyakki Yagyo are supposed to only assume their true forms if absolutely neccesary because the merger is a Mibu Clan secret. The Mibu Clan also has a bad relationship on a fundamental level with the Tsuchimikado Clan.

Clan Emblem:
latest

Allegiance: The Emperor(for now)

Race: Half Human/ Half Yokai(Nurarihyon)

Personality: Kyo speaks and acts with this odd confidence about himself that most often comes off as arrogance. He is one to strode into someone's home and treats it as if it's his own personal castle and that literally the whole world belongs to him. He has an air of absolute respect about him that just summons respect from his followers. That is all due to the Nurarihyon blood in his veins as those are all traits of Nurarihyon. He seeks to help the Emperor for now but eventually plans to turn on the Emperor and take Japan for himself.

Bio: Kyoshirou is the half blood son of the previous Nurarihyon, his mother was a female assassin who was originally sent to kill Nurarihyon by the Tsuchimikado Clan. Desitny had other plans resulting in the birth of Kyoshirou. Kyo was raised at his father's side amongst the yokai of the Hyakki Yagyo as the ventured all over Japan. Kyo even learned swordsmanship and eventually Iaijutsu from one of his father's most loyal retainers. Along their travels Kyo somtimes met other children like him who both humans and yokai, but most often they lived more terrible lives. So when he came of age he parted ways with his father to gather those individuals rescuing them from their terrible lives and giving them purpose under his leadership. He turned them into warriors and with their yokai abilities they became a small but no less feared demon clan.

A few years after the birth of the Mibu clan, Nurarihyon decided he wanted to retire and made Kyo his successor. Kyo welcomed the Hyakki Yagyo as a part of the Mibu clan rather than keep the two separate, he felt unification was the best way to prevent the two groups from coming at odds with each other. The Mibu entered the direct service of the Emperor when the Tsuchimikado Clan declared their support for the Shogunate. Kyo sided with the Emperor simply because their enemies sided with the Shogun, he plans to eventually turn against the Emperor and take Japan all for himself.

Weapons & Personal Belongings:
  • His sword is called Murasame and is a conduit for being enhanced by his yokai aura.
  • Kyo's Youjutusu(yokai arts) is his ability to summon and command yokai. He can temporarily fuse with and borrow their powers but other than yoki(yoka aura/energy) manipulation doesn't have any special abilities on his own. In other words, his greatest strength is his followers and being separated from them makes him vulnerable.

Drifters AND Sengoku Basara? I'm starting to think you're a man after my own heart.

But for real, looks good over all. Though I swear at this stage, about 80% of the people in this war are abject monsters, 10% are literal monsters, and about half of both groups intends to kill and replace one or both faction leaders. I can't wait to see everyone start tripping over each other's absurd schemes once it kicks off in full.

Personality: Toydaria grew up in an age when the nation was frequently at war and the Samurai were gods among men. He indeed is samurai, and he grew up in great reverance of his more pretigious fellows. He seeks to make himself the best samurai possible by being unquestionably loyal to his Daimyo.

Bio: Toydaria was born as the second son of the Daimyo of the Ichikoji clan. When the Chosokabe began encroaching on his clan's territory, he convinced his brother, who had become Daimyo, to swear fealty to the Chosokabe. Seeking to serve his new overlord in any way possible, Ichikoji became a Shinobi, or, as they may be more commonly known, a ninja.

Weapons & Personal Belongings:
