Fandom RWBY Prequel RP: Pillars of Chaos

Many bullets were shot at Aqua, but the rich young man disappeared in a blue light. The mobster looked confused, letting out a small grunt of confusion. Before he could realize it, though, the mobster felt a knee strike him right in his spine, hearing a small crack. The mobster fell to the ground, Aqua behind him. It was Aqua who kneed him in the spine. He picked up the mobster by the head... and twisted it, a loud snap echoing throughout the whole place. Aqua threw the now dead mobster to the ground, sending the mobster head-first into the ground.

"I personally like those odds!" The sugar-high huntress responded, her bloodthirsty and battle-hardened demeanor lacing every syllable created by her voice and causing Mardi nothing more than an eyeroll. She bounded forward away from the robot, screaming a hearty call of battle as she slammed a foe beyond the horizon! "Let's do this!"

"That makes at least one of us then." Mardi sighed as her combat partner rushed ahead with the subtlety and tact of an elephant. With the acrobatic skill of a trained stuntsman, her firm iron bones held her arms steady as she whipped her pistols in a circle and fired at all who dared take a swing at her or Celia. It seemed she was the only one on the team who preferred to employ wit and skill over... brute force. That was going to be an issue. ... But even she had to agree and, like Celia, announced her enthusiasm for bloodshed. "Let's do this."

The android spun her handguns by their triggers and holstered them quickly before drawing a massive, glowing purple sigil in the air before her like she had done earlier on a small scale. Her knees bent and her spine curved forward as she took a running start and leap into the sigil, made faster by a quick barrage of fire from her heels. Like her bullets, Mardi's body passed through the vaguely magic circle and nigh disappeared at high velocity, her right leg cocked out ready to kick before.. Snap!

The pure-steel frame of her foot made contact with a gangster's jaw like a speeding car and a brick wall, a wet smack loudly sounding as he soared backwards into a crowd of foes and she rebounded from his face with a skillful backflip and a barrage of fire from her Monvoisin. "Cotton Candy, remain aware of your surroundings!" She called out to Celia once again as she took aim at gangsters encroaching her turf of the field. "It would be a shame to have to clean you off the ground."

As she concentrated, she witnessed Selik rush into battle like her partner had done so earlier with his shield primed and taking the brunt of the lead hurricane imposed on him. ...A shield would have been a good idea for all of them, truth be told. But that was too late to consider. Mardi watched his advancement closely, her second gun aimed to spot him in emergency. "Remain safe as well, it would also be a shame." She muttered to herself.

Aqua decided to head towards the lair, his feet furiously and quickly stomping against the ground. He got out Blue Flame and sliced through any Mobsters that dared to try and battle him. Little did he know that Selik was quickly following suit.

"Thanks... Name's Kris." He walked closer to her and gave her a stern handshake as a friendly greeting. "Guess this means we're partners. Also you won't have to worry about me. I can get us through a jam if need be." Kris looked at her. "You seem... Capable. Let's get a move on before we have deal with more Grimm. I don't want to stay here any longer than necessary." Kris turned and started to walk down the dirt path once again, hoping this would lead towards their destination.

"...Perhaps... I'm overdressed?"

The young man frowned slightly as he inspected the coat he had picked out for today's outing. Although, his outfit had managed to turn a couple of heads during orientation. Some pleasantries were exchanged, overall it was a good start to the semester. He kept a firm hand on his cane as he glanced about the squalid alley that the academy's tube system had dropped him off in.

He hadn't realized it while at the academy, but it was an overcast day. The alleyway was littered with trash, and it was entirely likely that when the night fell some vagabond would return here to retire for the night. The young man pressed on, taking careful steps onto the ground that wasn't covered with waste. A vermin of some king scurried underneath a dumpster as he carefully adjusted his hat.

"I suppose this is what the seedy underbelly of the city is like. Still, I'm sure there are good-hearted people who live in this area. They must certainly be tenacious, especially if this is an area with virulent criminal activity." He muttered those words softly as he gingerly exited the alley. The cobblestone stone road was as gray as the clouds above and marred with cracks. The buildings certainly showed their age here and looked empty.

Perhaps he was wrong in his assumptions. Perhaps this was a ghost town and the tubes had deposited him in the wrong area. Still, he couldn't shake off an uneasy feeling as he continued to walk through the empty street. Maybe some cutthroat was stalking him, just waiting to close the distance.

Shwing!

In an instant, the young man had drawn his own weapon and locked blades with a hostile individual. They were clad in patchwork clothing and their identity had been carefully concealed with wrapped rags. The lamb grit his teeth slightly as he leaped backwards and corrected his poise and stance. He could get a better look of the blade his assailant wielded. It was a large blade, one made for slicing through dense vegetation. Several chips were present along the blade's edge.

One step and a thrust. Then a swing. His strike was supernaturally quick and practiced. As expected, the enemy had parried the thrust. But the sudden slash forced the young man's blade against the thug's blade. It left his hand and skittered across the road. He leveled his blade at his disarmed enemy's throat. And, as expected, the would-be cutthroat fled for his life and disappeared from view.

"Now then, I suppose my first objective should be to meet up with others in the area to form a team. That individual back there was almost certainly just a desperate individual - certainly not one of the villains associated with the crime boss of this area."
He adjusted the bow around his neck and continued on his way, sheathing the sword into his cane once more. That little encounter had been a good warm-up, though he doubted the rest of his battles would be that simple.

Azure Sneaux

The fox headed into the foliage, the density of the soil already much softer than where she previously stood with the Ursa. Her ears were turning in every direction possible, remaining aware of what could be lurking in the dense brush. The further they got, the more the ground continued to change. Now it was close to mud, and she expected it turn into sludge later. "So," the voice made her jerk, she was so busy making sure it was safe to walk through she had almost forgotten she had a partner with her,"Whats your name?" he asked the quiet, shy girl. 'Its polite to introduce yourself first before asking for a name,' she thought, 'Tell him your name.' But it was a lot harder than it seemed. Azure never really spoke to anyone, especially not someone she just met. The ear closest to Cruor just slowly turned, obviously listening, but Azure showed no other sign of acknowledgement. She stood quiet, facing a head. Her eyes scanned the marsh, looking at the vertical blurrs of trees infront of her.

After a little walk, Azure's next step landed her right in a sludge puddle. Her ankle fell through it and she made a sharp gasp, throwing her arms in the air for balance. When she regained it, she pulled her foot out and shook off any excess blobs of mud on her shoe. Azure grimaced, feeling the slush sink between her toes. But hey had to keep moving.

Azure couldnt help but wonder if shed be able to recognize the chess piece they were questing for. She only hopped her companion would spot it in the event she doesnt. The faunus' nose sniffed, the air changed. It smelled a lot more earthy, and muddy, a little bit like mildew. This was were the liquid marsh started. She swallowed her dry throat, nervous about the thought of trekking through thick water. The girl stopped and turned to face Cruor, then gestured to the murkiness before them, letting him go first. If she happened to slip in a deep hole or something, she could latch onto him.

@Cruor Flumine

Cruor, while waiting for her to reply, almost fell into the mud trying to catch the girl. Thankfully, she released the foot that had become trapped. Taking her gesture as for him to go first, he walked past her and stopped. "It's easy to tell that you really don't want to go through this. You're small enough, would you like to ride on my back? I'm tall enough to where you won't get stuck in the mud. As your team mate, it's my responsibility to protect you, so will you allow me to carry you over this danger?" He asked, holding out his hand. "Before I forget, my name is Cruor. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said, giving the blind girl a smile. He didn't know if she would see it, but oh well.

"Don't worry bro. I'll be cheering for you, all the way!" Words Lightning loved to hear from his little sis as he patted her on the head, "Thanks Serah. You'll be my motivation to win this."

Lightning wore his usual uniform that he got from a friend long time ago, a green metallic pauldron over his left shoulder bearing yellow stripes. He proceeded to a weapon case leaning on the glass table as he opened it with confidence and sheathed it in a black case which hangs from his belt. He carefully put on a necklace with a lightning bolt pendant and put it under his shirt for safe keeping. As he opened the door, sunlight shined through the crevice, "I'll be back as soon as I can, Serah." Serah smiled, "I know Lightning. Good luck!" Lightning nodded and soon entered a new world before him.

Lightning soon opening his eyes as he was standing over a metal grate, other wannabe hunters and huntress lined beside him. Remembering that moment, only a few hours ago, gave him more moral, more than anyone would know. He was soon composed in his standby stance and sent through a tube of a unknown location. He landed with his right knee on the ground with his hands both supported upon the ground. He got up and found himself on the edge of the boarder of a swamp, his knees and hands now dirtied with mud and dirt. He looked around and saw a ruined town about 100 yards or so. He made a b-line for the abandoned settlement and carried his gunblade with caution going along a covered up path.

He soon ended up in a building with a wall that had been destroyed, upon a second floor, and the view gave a slice of what the city structures looked like. Then the sound of grunting and the clang of metal striking each other, Lightning took cover behind a half covered wall and leaned forward to see a hunter beating a couple of ruffians who thought they could take him on. The hunter dressed in fancy clothing had beaten them easily and was walking away. Lightning took overwatch upon him, if he was going to be his teammate, he'd want to see more out of his skills, for now.

Mollisol said:
"Naga's right. They're not going to stop coming. We've got to get through this horde," Sable said as she stood up. Canvassing the area and judging from the odd slope of the nearby hill and the marshy area surrounding it, she guessed the water temple was in that hill. She whipped out the chess piece, brandished it at her teammates to show she had it, and put it away again before she put her hand back on Semper Fi and formulated a plan.
"Everyone look," she said, with the knowledge that she couldn't talk for too long without the Grimm closing in again. "We need to go that way, where the water temple is. As soon as we get through the door, we can plan our next move. But we've got to get there as fast as possible, with as little Aura loss as we can, so don't worry about taking all of these down. Just get there." With that, she glanced around at her team for confirmation and made a mad dash for the hill. Two Ursa lumbered over to hit her. She slid under them, and as she approached a pack of Beowulves, unfolded Semper Fi, and swept them as far away as she could. She rolled, and could see the horde thinning as she got closer to the marshland. "I'll be on the fringes to thin them out! Keep going!"

Ky nodded at her in agreement to her plan, and stood up, leaning against the tree. He winced in pain as he stood, not caring tyat Ivory wasn't done with his ankle. He grabbed Ivory, and pulled to her feet. He looked at her, with pained, but determined eyes, before, taking out his handgun and giving an Ursa hell. He limped forward to the temple, wincing with each step. He was using ice rounds to keep the Ursa off of him, and he eventually made it to the temple. He turned a corner on the inside, and fell against the wall, crying out in pain. He gripped his ankle, that was throbbing with pain, his face showing the emotion as well.

Cruor pointed out that It was clear the faunus didnt want to go through the swampy sludge. He was nice enough to offer a ride on his back, since he was much taller than her. Azure blinked, surprised by his offer. She wasnt sure what to think, it would be nice not having to trudge through the mess, but part of her thought it was because she was blind that he wanted to "help" her. But she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. A little blinded by her determination to prove herself, she declined his offer with a shake of her head.

But Azure felt rude for saying no. So when he introduced himself she mustered the courage to do so too. "Azure," she said with her small voice,"My...my name is Azure." she stuttered a little but she through it. Even though she couldnt see the facial features of people's faces, she could hear the smile in his voice, it was quite comforting in its own way. She felt bad, he was a nice guy, and he was just trying to help. But thanks to her shyness, she feared she came off as anything less than nice. To end things on a lighter note, she hesitantly grabbed onto his sleeve,"I'll follow you..." her voice was as tiny as she was, and very quiet.

@Cruor Flumine

He nodded. "Alright, I'll catch ya if you fall, alright?" He said, beginning to guide them through the muddy expanse. He tested each step before pressing all of his weight into it, the suctioning of his foot pulling out of the mud sounding with every step he took. He wasn't sure where exactly they were going, but who knows, they might just stumble upon what they need.

"Alright, I'll catch ya if you fall, alright?" Cruor reassured her. The faunus nodded. The two traveled through the mud. Each step felt like she was going to sink into a suffocating abyss. The sludge reached her waist, making her put more effort into every step. Azure hated the texture, a solid ground made it easy to sense vibrations and locate an on-coming enemy. Course she still had her ability to see aura/energy, but she cant see them behind her. Vibrations tell her whats going on at all times, even when shes not looking. She felt semi-blind...again!

The day-dreamy faunus tilted her head to look up at the sky. Unfortunately she couldnt see the blue hue, or the light green leaves with sunlight beaming through them,"I wonder where these pieces are..." she said to herself more than Cruor. 'Arent we supposed to have a full team?' she realized. Who was left??

@Cruor Flumine

Cruor shrugged, looking around for a moment. "Who knows. If we can find our teammates soon, we would have a better chance of finding our pieces." He said. Stopping for a moment, looking around once more before shaking his head and continuing on. "Sorry, thought I heard something." After another minute of walking, He could finally feel the ground begin to rise. he pulled both himself and Azure out of the mud and fell onto the solid ground with a sigh. "Rest up, don't know how much more of this damned swampland is ahead of us."

Selik blinked and the mobster with the gun had his face in the dirt with Aqua standing over him, it took a second to realize that he had been behind Selik just moments before. Then he snapped the guy's neck,

"Well.. that's one way to do it I suppose," Selik said as he lowered his shield and trudged forward trying to keep up with his teammate's energy and speed as they cut their way deeper into the mobster's lair. Into a dimly lit cavern dug out through the basement of whatever building the pair fought through. Their fighting styles melded well together with Aqua's speed throwing him at their foes offensively slashing in every way he saw a mobsters glare then bounding around keeping them off kilter while Selik caught whoever was left off guard using a maelstrom of fire from his flamethrower attachment.

Then he saw it, gleaming in the hands of fat mobster flanked by a couple of mean looking bruisers wielding claymores that his built in shotguns by th elooks of the barrel running up the middle. In the previous parts of the building however, fire was starting to overtake the entire place slowly, room by room for now.

"Think the girls are having as much luck outside?" Selik quipped taking a pause to catch his breath before the rooms got too smokey.

"Yeah." Aqua answered Selik. He speeds towards the bruisers and the fat mobster, getting ever so closer to him and his team's goal. One slash... just one slash, and the Chess Piece will be ours! Aqua thought, having gotten close to them. He slashed at the bruisers and mobster once... and that was the end. The bruisers and mobsters fell to the ground, a thud echoing throughout the room. Aqua walked toward the Chess Piece and picked it up. "... Got it." He said simply.

Ellie was pleasantly surprised at her first teammate's politeness, she took his stern grip and gave a solid shake before giving him her name in return.

"It's a pleasure Kris, i'm Ellen but everybody calls me Ellie," she said retracting her hand an amiable smile as Kris reassured her of his skill at arms. He seemed like a good enough sort and she couldn't doubt his ability to hold his own after she saw what was left of the two Grimm she came across before.

"Well that's good to hear, confidence without ego I hope.." Ellie started when she noticed Kris looking her up and down subtly. She was taken aback slightly, her smile dropping to a deadpan look as she assumed he was checking out her 'assets' she began blushing a tinge of pink as she crossed her arms abruptly.

"Capable of being bad-ass, that's correct," she said giving the air a one-two jab in demonstration, the short blades affixed to the overhand sides slide through the air with a practiced grace.

"Avoid the Grimm? That's not much fun now is it?" Ellie decried in jest as she followed Kris' lead, bounding down the winding dirt path in hopes of coming across something exciting. The overgrown sides of the ever thinning road slowly began to lose out to mossy stones and oddly coloured mushrooms as the landscape became marshier by the step.

"Deja vu is a funny thing isn't it?" she quipped as she realized she was back in the same biome she started in, the dirt path was darkening and getting softer the farther the duo trudged. She figured they would be plodding through a bog if this kept up and silently wished she had worn pants instead of her denim capris.

"Yeah, things are a bit strange here." Kris responded to her but disregarded in turning his head to look at her. "So tell me Ellie, what have you gathered about this forest so far? Have you seen other people? Weird monuments or hidden structures?" Kris seemed a bit forward in his response but he wanted to know as much as possible. Any information gathered could set him up with at least a decent team to have on his shoulders. "Also, tell me a little bit about you. Now that we are teammates, I might as well get to know you." He always had a hard time being friendly but Kris tried his best to strike a conversation. An opportunity to pass the time as they traveled deeper into the brush. The path quickly began to disappear, but the trees parted in a way that still represented a path, so the two kept following the clearing to find anyone or anything sort of importance.

Naga was doing well for this Grimm fight. It was probably due to the fact that he didn't have to go through the fight to get the chess piece. The horde of Grimm was not helping him run though. Due to his style of combat, based around standing his ground and punishing enemies for mistakes, he wasn't making much progress in path to the Water Temple. Seeing Ky make it to the temple was a good sign but Naga needed to do something about the others. "Sable, get in the temple. You're the one with the piece so, move it. I've got them." Naga yelled as he gently propelled himself over a group of Beowulves by plunging Dragon's Tooth into the ground, stepping on it and firing a few fire rounds so that it launched him.

After landing, he could see that he was within running distance of the entrance to the building. With that, he turned and after a short moment to switch Dragon's Tooth to a gun, he began setting up covering fire for his team. "Let's hope this doesn't end badly!" He mumbled to himself as he began pulling the trigger.
