Caught in a storm
9511178._SX540_.jpgIt was the first day of school for everyone. The year was 1871 and people were just arriving at the campus grounds. Students were excited. Many had tried very hard to get where they were. A brooch had been send out telling the students to arrive at 8:00 with their belongings. Uniforms had been sent out beforehand and students were allowed to roam for awhile before initiation.

Humans were unaware of the situation and Magicians and Vampires were less than thrilled to be around eachother however the non-agression pact stated there was to be no violence between the groups.

Violet Schneider had been just arriving for another year, her second, under the secret orders of the principal.
She carried a handbag and some luggage in tow, her grimoire, "The End of All Things" hidden tucked away in the handbag, along with some other anti-vampire items.

Standing at the front garden area of the school, she made her towards the large entrance door, other students could be seen standing around.

There were days Venessa wished she could simply curl up into a ball and disappear, ascend to the great library in the sky and pretend the world wasn't quite as horrible as it was.

Unfortunately, as it would seem, it happened to be one of those days, she was precariously curled around herself, behind one of the rosebushes off one of the lesser used paths of the school.

However, in an effort to not devolve into a fit of hysterical screaming and tears, she had taken out a large journal and laid it out in her lap, her hand working frantically to sketch the details of her old dorm building, eyes trained solely on her work.

"Focus Ven," she mumbled to herself, voice a bit squeaky, "don't burst into tears, don't burst into tears, don't burst into tears."

Walther had debated with himself internally whether he should arrive early, find his room and plan how to slip in and out with minimal obstacles between himself and his destinations, or to arrive just before initiation so as to see less of the crowds. In the end, he had done the former as he would need to observe others for his plans, and he had taken plenty of time prior in solitude. If he was ever going to be ready, it would be now. With the room found and the gears turning on the planning of routes, he stepped back out into the open to observe who he could see.

It wasn't unlikely that someone would be making judgements of him from somewhere either, he was someone of a degree of importance even if it was relatively small. The Gansmesser family was well known for their quality work and that work was the source of its name. The quality of their work was of course as much a result of having a good eye for materials as it was skill, but the real reason for interest these days was the fact that they did not have some notable pedigree but had gained some status through wealth alone. The old foundations of society were shaken and cracked now, it was no longer blood but prudence and valuable skills that determined ones place in the world. So someone here may have already had an eye on his family before he arrived, but whether they knew that the family was sitting on an edge, ready to tumble down into the dirt again, he could only guess.

He had waited and watched for a time, but there seemed to be no one of interest in the area outside the dorms, so he let his legs carry him to somewhere else without much thought as to where, and found himself on an out of the way path bordered by a hedgerow of rose bushes. He nearly kicked something as he turned a corner and after a moment to process the sight found that this something was someone. "Are you hurt, miss? Do you need help back onto your feet?" It's not something he wanted to do but it was expected, and right of him to, so he steeled himself and extended a hand to the curled figure on the ground.

Venessa's eyes slowly rose to meet the form of the speaker, and she let out a shaky exhale, her left hand tightening around her pencil until it looked ready to snap.

Ah, this... She... Gods above... She was going to die, and she hadn't even met the poor man's eyes yet, nevermind speak a single word of importance.

Opening her mouth, Venessa began to mouth the start of an apology, or maybe it was the beginning of an accusation, or maybe it was a shriek lost in the back of her throat...

"I, uh, w-wh-what?" She managed to squeak out, only to cover her mouth in abstract horror, glassy eyes going wide with something similar to fear.

Oh, she thought rather lamely, above all the rather, er, imaginitive ways this interaction could end, most of which resulted in her rather visceral death, it seems I'm going to die.

Well, she seemed to plainly be in distress but it seemed to be beyond his capability to handle properly so it was best he get her somewhere somewhere more convenient and find if there was anyone at this school trained in this sort of thing. "If you can stand, come with me and we will find somewhere more comfortable than the ground for you to lay, yes?" He kept his hand extended as he waited for her response though the hesitance so far wasn't helping him much either. "Though if there really is nothing to be done about it then I might take my leave soon and hope for the best.." It would be improper but it would hardly be evil to miss the initiation trying to keep an eye on a stranger who seemed to only become more hysterical with him around so far. "Either way, I am Walther." That should be most of what she needed to know if they were to interact at all here.

To be said it wasn't really like Adelaide had a bad feeling about being here, but she didn't find humans quite that entertaining. Arthur would always say that they were required to be here and to treat everyone with respect, but Adelaide tended to get bored quite fast of humans.

Both her and her brother were arriving to the Academy, with both having been quite known to be at the top of the social ladder at the school. They were posing as nobles, and the fact they were both attractive and twins only served to further everyone's perspective of her.

They had arrived in the carriage not long ago being dropped off by Leo, a vampire friend. Both her and her brother stood walking along the sidewalk of the front garden of the school.
"Are you sure about this. We don't have to complete this last year. We could just run off, maybe have everyone believe we just went missing." Adelaide said.]

Arthur shook his head, walking alongside in perfect synchronization with Adelaide. "It'd be troublesome if we did that. We should just make it through the final year, it'd look good for us anyways."

"If you all would slowly make your way to the Gymnasium, that would much appreciated." Temper said.
It had been since last year since Temper had taken the role of school representative. She had known that Violet also held a similar role but as far as she could tell, they were somewhat different roles, Violet seemed to do alot of paperwork and was a Hall Monitor, often roaming the school making sure everyone was behaving, while Temper did more when it came to organizing school events and leading clubs. Infact Temper was the leader of the Flower Club, a club she was quite interested in since she joined the school, although she wasn't always the leader, she had taken over the role when the last president of the club graduated two years ago.

Temper was standing amongst the front garden amidst arriving students. She had been tasked by Maeve to inform people to arrive to the Gymnasium.
"An announcement will take place in the Gymnasium soon. Also anyone interested in the flower club or any other clubs please refer to the Clubrooms after school!"

An announcement from elsewhere in the school reached Walther's ears and brought a sigh from him. He would have to be at the gymnasium soon by the sound of it, but he would feel guilty leaving someone in such a pathetic state by their self. He'd just have to find whatever facility was proper for her first. Trying to drag or carry her would only make things worse for both of them he imagined though, so he apologized softly before moving briskly back towards the center of the school in search of an infirmary or the like. But under the pressure of time and growing disinterest in getting too entangled with the girl, he ended up reporting his find to one of the staff he ran into and hoped for the best before setting off to what was likely the initiation.

He hadn't given much thought to the matter of clubs and his mind had been addled by various matters until he had arrived at the gymnasium, but he did know he had no desire to get thoughtlessly entangled with others or be too familiar with anyone without serving a purpose. But it might draw more undesirable attention if he tried to engage in his hobbies without joining a club or two that were connected to them. Perhaps then it might be worth looking into, but it would remain to be seen.

Yusha Linel
Yusha heard the school announcements and as the words reached their ears they let out a sigh as they made their way towards the gymnasium. Yusha didn't really have anything better to do anyways and they guessed meeting new students was some way to relieve a bit of boredom if nothing else. It really didn't take long before they got themselves close to the Gymnasium doors since they were a very fast walker for one. Though they didn't immidently enter through the double doors and into the gymnasium and instead opted to loiter just outside of it for a moment. Closing their eyes and listening to what was going on around them, all while leaning against the wall for a quick momment in order to get a better depth of their surroundings and what is going on around them.

Venessa began to shake, mouth dropped open, only to jerk sideways at the announcement.

"We..." She bit her lip, unsure, only to swallow and curl up into a ball further, watching the older male cast one more worried look before moving on.

God's above, she thought to herself, I'm useless.

Maybe if she didn't freak out at every little thing, if she was more charismatic, or less... Her.

Releasing a sigh, Venessa slowly, but surely, uncurled herself, and looked about, much like a small, frightened, animal.

Seeing that no one else had caught sight of her, she rose to her knees, and began to collect her things.

Once that was finished she stood.

Only for a firm hand to wrap around her upper bicep.

Venessa turned wide, terrified, eyes towards her old literature teacher.

The responding squeak just made the man sigh.

Evelyn had completely lost track of time. She had been one of the first students to arrive at Nocturne that morning- her mother had been keen that she start her time at the school as quickly as possible- but for all that, she was still running late, again. Collecting her far away thoughts, Evelyn forced herself back to reality and the task at hand: to not be the last one to arrive at the gymnasium. Evelyn checked the ground below the tree branch she was perched in, estimating the distance if she were to just jump down, but decided that it would be best to climb down. Much more lady-like, she told herself, hearing her mother’s words.

The climb out of the tree took mere moments, but in that short time Evelyn managed to tear her skirt. It wasn’t a terribly large tear, and she could cover it by holding her hands down, just so... but now she’d have to worry about that on top of all else today. The faint callings for students to head to the gymnasium reminded Evelyn that she had to get going. Quickly, the golden haired girl bee lined towards the school, joining the other students as they trickled into the gym hall.

Amity was no less than thrilled to be here. She’d never been to a real magic school before and she was hoping it was everything she had dreamed. She looked up at the castle with her sparkling eyes. So far, this was beautiful. She pushed her tiny body into the crowd that was slowly making its way to the gymnasium. She was far too excited to be stuck in this crowd, but there was no where else to go. She began to look for a familiar face, but soon realized there wouldn’t be one yet. She hadn’t met anyone. Quickly she turned to the nearest person, a girl with long blonde hair. “Hey, are you new too.” Now she’d for sure have someone to talk to this year.

Evelyn heard a girl's voice and turned to spot Amity beside her. Just to be sure, Evelyn looked around to make sure the girl was actually talking to her, and not someone else. "Oh, hi," Evelyn replied smiling. "Yeah I am, is it that obvious?" Evelyn asked, reaching up to check to make sure her hair wasn't a mess and a giveaway that she didn't belong. She remembered the tear in her skirt though and quickly pulled her hand back down to cover the tear again. "I'm glad I'm not the only one though, this place sure is intimidating." Evelyn signed chuckling a little awkwardly. "My name is Evelyn, nice to meet you."

Gymnasium

Temper patiently awaited everyone to arrive. Once everyone had arrived it was due time for announcements. A few teachers were here with Temper in the Gymnasium Stage. She stood infront of a podium. A signup chalk board was stood up by the side of the podium, with an envelope with manuals held inside it. Well lit lamps and silk banners in could be seen along the walls.

"Ah wonderful. Looks like everyone is here. I hope you're all excited to be here at Nocturne, the most prestigious academy in Albion. Let's make things clear. Starting today you will all be boarding in dorms here at Nocturne Academy. Everyone will be seperated by dorms seperated at the left and right wings by gender. Some students have preferences for night classes so you will be allowed to roam at night and we have a night staff of teachers present to accompany your needs. It is up to you however to make sure you maintain your own sleep schedule. We do have high expectations from you all.

At Nocturne we have a variety of clubs. We have plans to raise a school council again this year so we're looking forward to those who wish to help the school with responsibilities. If you're looking for a position within the school council, please find me or Violet Schneider who is our hall monitor.

We also have a flower club, a drama club and a host club so please see the signup board. We're looking forward to anyone interested in our extracurriculars.

Last and not least we ask that you pick up a school manual. We'll be allowing everyone to check out each of the clubs today and explore the school grounds. Classes will not occur today."
(Fun fact, the lore tab information is in the school manual. All information about the supernatural world is invisible to normal humans.)

Temper personally hoped that everyone would be interested in the clubs. She was a member of the council and ran the flower club which she was super into.

One of the teachers, a woman had motioned her way to the podium as Temper stood down.

"Thank you Temper. We will be having lunch available for the next 3 hours in the cafeteria so come by whenever you feel like eating or whenever you're down exploring the school.
My name is Maeve Merridis and I am the Professor of Arts. I teach art and music. Occasionally I help with our extracurriculars and special events. Feel free to ask me anything or talk to me if you see me around the school.

Walther did as he should, listening and picking up a manual as appropriate. It was quite automatic even though he only received a fraction of the drilling in propriety than his sisters had. He was already familiar enough with the school he believed so he was able to comfortably devote only a small amount of attention to the whole situation to better ignore how dense the crowd he had found himself in was, but the mention of the flower club did grab more of his attention. His interests went beyond just flowering plants but it could still be a good outlet, but only if he could enjoy it alone or at least didn't have to work too closely with anyone.

Another piece of information that was of special interest was the length of time during which lunch was being served. He would rather not skip out but he wasn't quite ready for the proximity and chatter. He couldn't be sure whether most would be looking into the clubs and other matters first or after they had eaten either. Instead he would have to prepare to eat lightly and leave quickly when he went. First would come investigating the club though, at least in a sense.

As soon as he could find some space to move, Walther slipped out and away from the sea of bodies and tucked himself into a space against the wall to observe the sign up board for a while and wait for people to clear out of the gymnasium. In the meantime, he started trying to form an impression of people that stood out. Perhaps a clear candidate for his plans would appear this early and he could make an effort to win them over, possibly over lunch.

Evelyn listened to Temper’s announcement silently, momentarily forgetting about the girl who has spoken to her a few moments earlier. She was trying to process all the information that Temper shared, and decide what she wanted to do first: explore, eat or sign up for clubs. Glancing to the girl beside her, she motioned towards where students were collecting the manual.

“Guess we should go get one of those...” Evelyn said, before following the sea of students. Once she had her manual, she flipped through the pages briefly. There was so much for her to read through and ingest. Evelyn was quite overwhelmed to say the least, and her stomach fluttered with butterflies at it all. Perhaps lunch wasn’t the best idea right now.

Evelyn could hear her mother’s voice encouraging her to sign up for some clubs. Her mother would probably encourage the flower club, but she would prefer something more outdoorsy.

“What in the world is a host club?” Evelyn mused aloud, reading the different clubs posted on the board.
