Persona:

Cedric is the kind of person who just wants to do the right thing. He believes strongly in being a good person and having good morals. He's very outgoing and friendly, to the point where some people could be fairly annoyed by him. He wants desperately for people to like him, and admittedly, he craves that kind of validation from other people. He hates violence and confrontation, and will avoid it as much as he can. He tries to be a positive force in the world and around other people, trying to look on the optimistic side or trying to find a peaceful solution. That said, he knows about the danger that comes with being Marked, and he hates hiding but he can see the necessity of it. As someone who tries to be dependable and easy to talk to, he often bottles up his emotions, and can find himself blowing up after a long time without expressing how he really feels.

Cedric is able to manipulate other beings' blood while it is still inside of them. He can manipulate where it goes, as well as try and summon it to him; although he has never tried to do the latter.

Cedric is able to control whether he uses his curse on other people or not, though he hasn't mastered specifically how to use it. He is also unable to control its effect on him. The blood noses he gets are unplanned, and his bloodshot eye and prominent veins are beyond his control.

Biography:

· backstory

After Cedric's disappearance - and reappearance - as a baby, his mother was both relieved and horrified, whilst his father was purely horrified. Especially when they noticed Cedric’s mark, located behind his left ear. As Cedric grew up, his father became more and more distant and wary of him, almost hateful. It was like he was waiting for something to happen, like he knew what would become of Cedric. When he was four, and his bloodshot eye made itself known - as did his frequent nosebleeds - his father was certain that Cedric was of devil-spawn. His mother was less suspicious of Cedric, while also worried about him, and certainly didn’t share his father’s concerns. Unfortunately, Cedric’s father’s anxiety overpowered any love he had for Cedric, especially after Cedric accidentally caused his father to have a heart attack.

It he been an accident; he’d been reaching for his father, and something had awakened in him, and the clenching of his fist caused the blood flow to his father’s heart to stop. Luckily, Cedric’s mother was able to move Cedric’s hand and distract him in a moment of instinct, and as Cedric’s hand dropped, his father found himself able to breathe again. Although Cedric’s mother tried to argue that it would be impossible for Cedric to somehow make his father ill, he was convinced.

Cedric’s father tried to drown him, knowing that Cedric couldn’t swim. It was only by chance that his mother happened to come home from markets early, and was able to save Cedric from his father. Cedric has tried to repress this day from his memory, so he can’t remember exactly what happened, but soon, he and his mother were leaving their house in the village and going to live by themselves - sans Cedric’s father - out in the forest.

As Cedric grew older, and his little curse symptoms never went away, he and his mother worked together to figure out his abilities and how he could control them. His mother, an open-minded woman, didn’t care too much how Cedric had gained all of this, and was happy to be his test subject. Mostly, Cedric would just try to make all the blood rush to his mother’s head or to a limb, and soon enough, he had the control down pat.

If his father died, he wouldn’t know, but no one has ever bothered them in their little corner of bushland and animals. Cedric has always been grateful to his mother for getting them out of the village when they did, since they’ve been able to hide from the Cerulean Guard. Cedric likes it like that, quiet and peaceful, but he can’t help but wonder what else is out there for him, and if he will have to hide for his entire life.

BIOGRAPHY

- backstory The night of the kidnappings, was a devestating one to her parents, all parents really, but when she was returned they noticed something different about their daughter, something that wasn't easily concealable unless hidden beneath clothing and blankets. Selena had the legs and feet of an ox, and a tail to match. At first, her parents were mortified, unable to cope with the sight of their daughter they locked her up in her room only going in to feed her when neccessary. After a while they got used to the idea of their daughter and knew that they could never give her up, she was, after all, their daughter. Selena has been on the move her entire life, or as far back as she can remember anyways. Her parents did everything they could to teach her the lay of the land, how to forage for herself, steal when needed, and to use her feminine ways to get out of trouble, though she hated doing it and opted to begin lying as a main source of getting away. When her powers kicked in they began trying to teach her to control it while moving from place to place. Unfortunately they weren't able to help her for very long, and when she was ten, they were captured and imprisioned for harboring a fugitive. Selena escaped, but barely, and has been alone ever since. She does whatever she has to in order to survive, stealing, lying, acting, and stealth. She has almost gottencaught several times, maaging to distract the authorities with other noises, her friend before he was captured, and crowd control, usually causing large messes or starting a fire with a lighter whenever possible.

  personality | Though most of the Marked are scorned and revered, Lillith has carried this view on her shoulders long before her true nature was exposed. Lillith was always fascinated by the cycle of life, the nature of death, and if anyone ever caught a glimpse of her investigations into such things, she was often labeled a sadist or some sort of heretic. She never denied such claims, as a girl who skins animals and collects bones is not something anyone views as normal, and Lillith could never deny how she felt drawn to these things. Now, of course, she knows it is due to this mark, this curse, but it feels like a strange part of herself that without it, she wouldn't know who she was.
  
  Lillith is a bit unnerving at first glance. She seems twitchy, beady eyed, and her ghostly appearance does not get her any good favors. Finding comfort more in her own presence than anyone else's, people tend to frighten her as much as she frightens them, and she expects the worst before she expects the best. Skittish, but inquisitive, when left to her own devices, she seems more curious than anything else, about the world around her, about others, about the nature of things. Lillith loves to learn, but of course, has a sense of morbid curiosity that usually stretches a bit beyond any academic pursuit.
  
  If the right circumstances arose, however, Lillith is someone who wants to care and defend others just as much as her own sister has defended her. There is a great amount of gentleness to her touch, in the way she reaches out to the world and to others, and despite being on the run for so long and viewed so cruelly by others, this genuine softness has not yet been beaten out of her.

She has a body very susceptible to harm because of this, and is not very physically strong. She does however have a heightened pain tolerance due to growing up with this affliction and knows how to patch herself and others up.

  special abilities | Lila's special ability manifests in the control over bones. It causes her own bones to feel a certain amount of unrest trapped in her own body, but with careful maneuvers, she manages to keep them inside her. Lila collects the bones of animals and is able to manipulate them, either piecing together the skeleton once more for a mindless servant, or meld the bones together, which requires a great deal more effort, and make constructs out of them. Recreating the structure of the animal the bones came from is usually not a perfect science, and she often Frankensteins a creature together out of her own collection of bones. These 'creatures' have no mind of their own, and are moved like puppets on a string. She can only control so many at a time, and the larger the skeletal puppet, the harder it is to control. Aside from stringing bone puppets together, with more exertion, Lillith can meld smaller bones into one, and create constructs like shields, walls, or even smaller things like keys, daggers, etcetera. It all depends on how many bones she has to work with, and how much time.
  
  Working with bones causes her own to shift uncomfortably inside her, and using her abilities causes pain. Her bones don't like to think themselves separate from the ones that she works with, and often want to join whatever construct or puppet she is creating. With a certain level of concentration, she can keep her bones within her, but using her powers under duress or in a time crunch can have them trying to jut out of her. She can only work with bones of the dead, but she can pull bones out of carcasses rather than waiting for the bodies to decay, or perhaps puppet a carcass that has recently passed to make it seem still alive, if a little off putting. Lillith carries a backpack that is, gruesomely, filled with bones. She organizes them to a surprising amount of detail by size and thickness, from little squirrel bones to wolf bones found in the forest.
  
  how well can they control their curse? | As Lillith managed to evade the Cerulean Guard for most of her life, she had a decent amount of time to practice and get accustomed with what her curse does to both others and her own body. She is decently aware of her own abilities and limitations, and has a very solid level of control and awareness. She's no expert, and using her powers still takes a tangible level of concentration, but she knows how to get to that state.

  background | Under the full moon, Lillith was second born to a lovely little family that had no idea the horrors her birth would bring upon them. Her father was the town butcher, her mother helping his business and raising cattle, and her sister Aelwyn, four years her elder, loved little Lillith to death, and even when her parents realized the dire fate their newest daughter had been sealed to, young Aelwyn stood as her protector from birth. She begged to know why her mother and father fretted over Lillith so, especially when they had just gotten her back from a scary night where she'd disappeared. Her parents didn't know how to explain it then, but Aelwyn would come to understand soon enough. Lillth was Marked, but nothing would take Aelwyn's baby sister away from her.
  
  The family moved in an attempt to keep up normal appearances. They decided they would protect their marked daughter, and harbor her from the world as long as they could. In attempt to carry on as normal, they had another child, the third daughter, Oliana. Aelwyn was growing into her big sister role well, keeping the two busy and trying to shield Lillith from herself as much as possible. Lillith was always a strange child. Fascinated by the cycle of life, watching things grow, watching things die. She stuck close to her mother and father, helping to raise the cattle, only to watch them be slaughtered. Lillith wasn't perturbed by this, and her lack of such normal reactions worried her family. Her parents lived a life on edge around her, waiting for the curse to manifest, waiting for her to truly show them what made her once of the marked. Lillith pretended not to notice. Her sisters, however, loved her to death, and there was no one in the world she was closer to. Her family tried to keep her away from other children in the event something happened out of her control, so she spent most of her time with her sisters.
  
  They were quite a trio, and even as Lillith grew, her curse beginning to manifest, Aelwyn's guard over her only became fiercer. While Oliana was still too young to fully understand why her sister began to turn an ashen grey, as if her skin had already rotted, and why she became so deathly pale or suddenly so brittle in bones, or why she began to pocket the bones their father would throw away with the sour cuttings of meat. Though Aelwyn worried for Lillith, her worry wouldn't stop her from beginning to discover her power. Melding osseous matter together, raising the remnants of wild animals as puppets. Oliana thought it was a fun trick. Aelwyn knew their time living a normal life was coming to an end.
  
  They tried her best to hide her, but eventually, it was not just the Guard closing in that exposed Lillith. Her own parents couldn't deal with the stress of feeling like everything could be taken from them at any moment. They had begun to hate Lillith for the fear they held in their lives, and while Aelwyn tried to shield her from it as much as possible, eventually, her parents presented Lillith with an ultimatum. Leave, or they would turn her in. They tried to do this in the night, while Aelwyn was asleep, so that they would only lose one daughter instead of two. Lillith might have done something awful to her own parents then if Aelwyn had not burst awake and run away with her.
  
  Lillith wonders often what their parents told little Oli, when she woke up to find both her sisters gone. But Aelwyn was resolute. There would be no going back. The two sisters lived off the grid for a great deal of time, most of Lillith's teenage years, becoming quite a formidable duo against the Cerulean Guard as they learned to evade and survive on their own. With the help of Lillith's ability, the two traveled across the land, making camps in the forests with nothing but their own wits to keep them alive. While the two were not raised by survival experts, growing up around a butcher had taught them how to hunt and kill and live off the land, and the rest, they improvised with a great deal of luck and perseverance. Lillith often feels prideful when she thinks about how long they lasted out there alone.
  
  Their winning streak eventually came to an end. The Cerulean Guard had enough of the tag team and pushed more efforts to catch them, and unfortunately, got to Aelwyn first. Using her as leverage, Lillith surrendered on the condition that Aelwyn be let go, unharmed, and as Lillith was the one who bore the mark, she was the only one they wanted. Lillith came quietly, leaving the desperate protests of her sister in the background.
  
  That was a year ago, and ever since, Lillith has been in prison for something she knows she and her fellow inmates never had a choice over. She wonders often if her sister returned to her family, but has a sinking suspicion that Aelwyn has not stopped plotting her escape. The Cerulean Guard knows that as long as they threaten the lives of her sisters, Lillith will think long and hard before she acts against them.
