The grand opening of the first ever international magical university had been a topic of conversation in the wizarding world for the past year. Applications for Ravenhurst University of the Magical Arts had been numerous and from all corners of the world. Only the very best were considered for a place and had been hand picked by Ms Amelia Ravenhurst personally. As the location of the university was to be strictly secret, the only details of its whereabouts is that the building is located in Germany near a wizarding village. It has been cloaked from muggle detection and even the surrounding villagers have been repelled from knowing its true location until the opening in September.

You are one of the chosen few and have received your acceptance letter instructing you to keep the wax seal for future use:

Dear_____

I, Amelia C. Ravenhurst am delighted to inform you that you have been accepted as a student/professor to immerse yourself in the magical arts at Ravenhurst University, the world's very first international institute of further magical education. Your credentials impressed us greatly and we look forward to meeting you at the Welcome Ball.

As the location of the university is and shall remain a closely guarded secret until the Grand Opening; this ball shall be held in the Great Hall of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry which as you may or may not know was my personal alma mater.

The ball shall take place on August 24th at 8pm British time, and the dress code is formal, however males are not required to wear traditional wizarding dress robes and may wear standard muggle formal wear.

Please do not dispose of the wax ceil with which this letter was enclosed, for it is a portkey that will transport you to Hogwarts at the designated time of 7:30pm British time.

We look forward to meeting you,

Yours Sincerely,

Professor Amelia C. Ravenhurst, Dean of Ravenhurst University of the Magical Arts, Order of Merlin, Second Class

The Day of the Ball

As instructed, you have kept the wax seal in order to travel to Hogwarts and you are presently stood outside the grand oak doors surrounded by students and staff decked out in stunning ball gowns and dashing suits. As the doors open by means of magic, a fairly tall, older lady, (Professor McGonagall) addresses the crowd.

"Welcome to Hogwarts, I am Professor Minerva McGonagall, Headmistress of this school and your host for this evening. It is my pleasure to have the welcome gathering of Ravenhurst held here at Amelia's school. If you'd like to follow me, the Great Hall will be open momentarily." She says, her eyes gleaming with obvious pride as she leads the way inside the castle where all shall wait for proceedings to begin. Chatter builds up amongst the guests as they wait for the ball to commence...

NOTE: On all posts, these things must be seen: Ravenhurst House, Current Location, Current Class. If any do not apply right now, you may put N/A beside them.

Harriet had been exasperated with her mother ever since she had finally put her plan of an 'international magical university' into action. She hadn't actually expected anything to come of the pipe dream because it hadn't done for the past eighteen years of her life, but as fate would have it, here Harriet was, preparing for the welcome ball of Ravenhurst University. Ugh, the very name irritated her. It implied that she would be forced to take over as dean of the university when her mother could no longer deal with the responsibility and that idea made her cringe. She had been trying to carve out her own identity her entire life, but it was not easy when your mother happened to be the most respected wizarding historian alive.

Currently she was staying at her friend Dorothè's house in the south of France near to where her old school Beauxbatons Academy of Magic was situated. Her mother had insisted that she not be allowed to see where Ravenhurst would be, and that it all be a surprise just like it would be for the other students. Harriet supposed she could appreciate the gesture. She certainly didn't want special treatment whilst she attended and she had to admit, curiosity was beginning to get the better of her the closer it got to the Grand Opening.

"I wish I was going to Ravenhurst," her friend sighed dramatically from outside of the bathroom where Harriet was currently getting dressed. On the inside, Harriet scoffed at the idea. Dorothè had never been known for her academic prowess after all. She wasn't harsh enough to say this, however, as she did at least care about the girl enough to spare her feelings. "Perhaps you will meet someone handsome at ze ball. Perhaps they will be rich and powerful!" the girl continued to muse. Harriet could almost visualise the dramatic hand gestures that were going with the monologue.

"Dottie, honestly. This isn't Cinderella you know," Harriet laughed, frowning slightly when Dorothè expressed her ignorance of the muggle fairy tale. Soon she emerged from the bathroom dressed in her silver gown, her long brown hair styled in a low chignon with a few strands left to frame her face on either side. Dottie let out an excited squeal, "Oh mon dieu, c'est très belle!" She complimented as Harriet smiled and walked over to a desk where she had set down the purple wax seal her mother had turned into a portkey to take her to Hogwarts.

    *

Harriet Ravenhurst did not know how to feel as she stood outside the Hogwarts Castle grounds. The silhouette of the castle towered over her and the moon in the night sky made it seem quite majestic. Wrapping her shawl more tightly around her in the cool night air, Harriet looked around her at the other people in her vicinity, dressed in their finest attire. So these were to be her classmates. It finally seemed to dawn upon her just what her mother had managed to achieve, and, in spite of herself, a twinge of pride overcame her.

Harriet had made sure not to speak to anyone just yet. She did not want to draw any attention to herself or give away who she was. Harriet only hoped that no one from Beauxbatons had been admitted to Ravenhurst, because it would only take one to give her status as the Dean's daughter away.

When the older lady in emerald dress robes appeared at the gates, Harriet's brown eyes lit up with intrigue. Her mother had spoken very fondly of Minerva McGonagall, but Harriet had never met her. This woman was Hogwarts legend, indeed, wizarding legend.

Harriet moved along with the throng as they made their way into the entrance hall. The castle seemed rather quaint and much less aesthetically pleasing than Beauxbatons. It was dimly lit, and portraits hung in droves on the walls, muttering to one another and greeting former Hogwarts students warmly. Hattie supposed their was something vaguely charming about the castle, but it certainly did not inspire awe the way her beloved school did. Now all she had to do was wait for the Great Hall doors to be opened along with everyone else.

"Xander will you hurry up in there you're hogging the bathroom, idiot!" [/FONT]Lysander smirked to himself as his younger brother banged on the bathroom door once again. He was of course getting ready for the welcome ball of Ravenhurst University. It had come as a surprise when he had discovered that his application had been accepted, because in all honesty, he hadn't tried nearly as hard as he could've at school despite how much knowledge he had accumulated. He had received 'Exceeds Expectations' in every subject and though his father thought that was brilliant, his mother had been less than pleased.

Ever since he got the letter however, all she would do was beam at him with pride and well up with tears. She was a huge fan of Ravenhurst's works on wizarding history. Lysander, Avery and his father simply thought Amelia Ravenhurst was good-looking and that getting accepted to her university was a bonus.
"Oi, go summon a toilet if you need the bathroom. Haven't they taught you accio yet?" he teased as he fixed his bow tie and ruffled his blonde hair slightly before applying a little Sleek-Easy potion to it so that it would stay tamed for the night. He wondered if he would see any other Hogwarts alumni at the ball...

*

Lysander grinned as he watched everyone crowding around at the front gates of Hogwarts, feeling as though he were at his home away from home, which in a way he was. He had already spotted a few familiar faces and flashed grins at them all. He also spotted a few rather attractive folks and gave them mischievous winks in greeting. Some of them returned the greeting, while others blushed profusely. When McGonagall came out to greet them he grinned widely. He had always liked Professor McGonagall and like most students, he respected her greatly. He felt a warm fuzzy feeling at seeing the suits of armour and talking portraits again when he entered the entrance hall. "Y'alright there Fergus?" he said to one of the portraits of an elderly friar, who bowed to him in greeting.

DIVYA.

  • mood

    begrudgingly nostalgic.

When Divya Paraiyar announced that she was in Hufflepuff, her family hit the roof. All they could think about was how their eleven year old angel broke the chain broke the chain of proud Slytherins that had been standing strong and pure-blooded for centuries — that is until September 1st of her first year, when a bright eyed, wide smiled Divya stepped up to the old, wooden chair and let the Sorting Hat distinguish her house for the next seven years.

It surprised little Divya that her first thought wasn't of how her family would react, as she thought it would be, but more of why that certain house stopped her from being any of the other traits. It was funny to her really — but here's the thing, Divya Paraiyar knew only one of those four houses pleased her parents.

Here's a hint — it isn't Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or especially Gryffindor. You see the problem? It's a hard knock life.

Divya loves her family, don't get her wrong, but she felt for the next seven years as if every word out of their mouths was Slytherin this, Slytherin that. At first she thought it was a joke. Now she thinks it's just tasteless and overplayed — like her brother's record of David Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World. (She's kidding, of course — Bowie rocks!)

Divya was sick and tired. Sick and tired of her brother's obnoxious arguing over who's FIFA pack was better, NEWS FLASH, BOYS: NO ONE CARES! Divya was completely fed up with having to do all the stocktaking at her job, it's not her fault she works with completely small minded idiots! But nothing, absolutely nothing, bores Divi out of her right mind more than the idea of starting dreaded Year One, and even her blatantly boring suffocatingly scholar academy doesn't offer her much comfort ━━ shocker, she knows. Say a few Hail Marys for the sake of Divya Paraiyar.

Quite frankly, it's not the real reason she's been acting so iffy? (if that's a good way to describe it) this past week, her mind once together now scattered like lost marbles, and the only reasonable explanation she has for this must be because her fucking cretin of a older brother used her sacred Sex Pistols record as a dinner plate for a dare! Absolute asshole! So, yeah, Divi's been a little pissed off recently, but for sure her behavior can be expected, like, come on!

Perhaps it's the aforementioned start of school that has Divya all riled up. School, in all seriousness, had hardly been a thought in her mind since summer started. As the countdown to college began, she could practically feel her parents breathing down her neck. Yeah, so maybe that's why Divya's found herself seeking refuge in the grand bedroom of a few low cool kid of East England. Her friends were good and nice people, pricks at times, but all round pretty sound. Matthew Brooks especially, he's the one with the grand bedroom, with the door always open for the Paraiyar girl ━━ they goofed off mostly which was nice, it took Divya's mind off things, things that shouldn't matter but do.

That's how her night begins actually, with Divya splayed on her stomach on Matt Brooks' bedroom floor ━━ after theatrically running out of her own home ━━ searching through the growing stack of records, CDs and the odd cassette tape until she found a playable tune while the Brooks boy answered the front door. She wasn't surprised, on her way to make Matt her therapist, she had rung up the rest of her mates (in that group, of course, not just everyone she knew) and asked them to wallow with her in the comfort of Matt's gargantuan poster covered room, but today just didn't seem to wanna do Divi any favors as her message was left unread. No matter, Matt was used to Divya's presence in his home, picking apart his records collection as if it was her job. (It sort of was- having spent the better part of her summer working at a record shop and all.)

The shuffles of feet become more apparent just before the bedroom door swung open then closed, sending each other greetings before Divya turned to the brunette. "Your music taste sucks, Mattie. I genuinely think it's a sin to have a Nickelback CD next to a signed copy of Dookie." Disgusted, she dropped the CD casing in the bin next to her, "time for a monthly clean out me thinks."

"Just be grateful I hid my Jordin Sparks album," used to the girl's theatrical antics, Matt stayed unbothered, propping himself onto his elbows next to the mysterious black bag left on his bed. "What's all this, then? You haven't spoke a word about it since you got 'ere."

"A dress," Divi muttered dismissively, arms deep in a box full of records. "I can feel the spirit of Janis Joplin rising in me ready to slap you, Brooks." She chucked another Metro Station album into the growing NO pile ━━ resisting the urge to lob it at the boys head for having such poor taste.

The Brooks boy, now completely set on moving the conversation onto something else, reminds Divya of the somewhat obligatory welcome to school party? one hundo percent forcing her to go to. "Are you still going to that school party thing later? Apparently it's still fancy dress but I cannot be fucked for that." Matt makes a face of something that could be either anger or disgust, Divya didn't know; the line between both was minuscule.

Divya smiles into the cardboard box resting on her knees, her mind already whirring with a funny wisecrack ━━ well, funny to her. "Do I have to?"

****

She had to, at least by Matt's insistence. He'd driven her himself, even, ignoring her cries of I can't do my goddamned eyeliner in your car! and If I stain this dress, you're paying for my dry cleaning! Nonetheless, walking through the front gates of Hogwarts you'd find a eclectic mass of teenage attendees, those ranging from various subgroups of wizards and witches, all enjoying their final few days of freedom until they were forced back to school.

It was pretty odd though, even when they weren't confined behind the walls of Hogwarts, everyone did just kind of fall into their socially acceptable categories ━━ Idle chatter filled the space; girls thin as pins with dreadful cases of the me, me, mes flirt with the boys from the quidditch teams, and then all at once, Minerva McGonagall. A woman she had looked up to for almost her entire Hogwarts career- she talked to Divya like a daughter, took her under her wing like she was one of her very own blood.

For one flickering moment, their eyes met, and she watched a flash of a smile spread across the old woman's face. Bumping elbows with old alumni, strangers and old friends alike, Divya found herself reliving every year she had spent inside these walls. She was stubborn with giddiness, her fingers gently grazing the candlelit walls. If these walls could talk. They did, portraits whooping and hollering at old students, or simply talking amongst themselves.

Her world stopped spinning when she was shoved forward through the hallway but a group of girls behind her- stepping forward, but regaining balance, colliding shoulders with the figure in front of her.

"Sorry!" One foot in front of the other, she found herself straightening up like a poor flamingo with a bad leg. "Sorry."

Glancing up through her veil of bangs, Divya met the eyes of Lysander McCall- suddenly shoulder to shoulder. Blowing the hair out of her face, she flashed a clumsy smile. Somewhere in her mind, she saw Lysander, a boy she had grown up along with, but never grew up with. She could faintly recall the last time she had seen him, a few students ahead of her in line for graduation. This all felt like something of a bad coincidence. She leaned down to adjust her heel, fixing the back of it, smile never faltering. "Nice to see a familiar face."

Where: Hogwarts Entrance

Serafina had wandered up to the castle and looked around, waiting for anyone to come up to her. It came as a shock to her family when she was sorted into Gryffindor, but they could see why she had been sorted into this house. She had always been the brave one out of her family, even from when she had rescued the owl that she soon would take care of. The owl She had rescued became her companion and she had named her Hagetta. Ever since she went to Hogwarts, Hagetta had been by her side. And now…it was time to embark on a new adventure to this new school called Ravenhurst.

Upon hearing The Professor speak once more, she got snapped out of her nostalgia and soon picked up her bags to follow after her. She sighed softly as she looked back up at Hogwarts. She was gonna miss the lessons she had learned here, but..this new place..it definitely piqued her interest. Quickly, she put her beloved owl in the jeweled cage once more before she turned to follow after Professor. Mcgonagall.

It wasn’t without saying that she would miss Mcgonagall, but she was definitely interested in what the University had to offer. Sneaking a peak, she looked to see if she knew anyone from her house that was there. A slight sigh escaped her as she bent down to her owl. “I guess, it’s you and me now, Haggie.” She said as she once more looked around. “Of course..what was I thinking, thinking anyone might recognize me..” She had trailed off but then focused her gaze.

Hopefully, this new place wasn’t that different from Hogwarts. Once more..she felt excitement fizz inside her as a smile grew on her countenance. “Well, it’s time Haggie! Time to see who Amelia is!” She said as she picked up her stuff once more and made her way to the Great Hall.

alastor...

Was this part of their plan? No. Cedar didn't want to go to what was college but, their mom had a point and by some miracle, Cedar got accepted. Now it might have been helpful that they were a Gryffindor Quidditch player and maybe got some pity points and honestly, they will take it. That had been most of their career in Hogwarts, barely scraping by but excelling in what they excelled best at, which yes, was quidditch mostly but they were good at other things! Mostly dueling and practical usage of magic but, anything beyond those three things, Cedar has no idea how they passed anything.

They had spent the days before the big day back at home in their parents' home, making sure their things were all packed up and saying goodbye to the few friends they had in their town, most of which included a lot of good luck and lightly enchanted gifts to try and bring them academic success. Everyone knew where Cedar needed help and as embarrassing as it was, the help was greatly appreciated. Then the day before, they had decided to go BACK to Hogwarts to visit their almatar already, a few students were already there early for one reason or another and Cedar had found themselves breaking back into their old dorm, where they were now sitting and getting ready. Or well "getting ready". Cedar loved fashion and clothing but at the same time, couldn't care less. So a simply silky red blouse paired with a nice pair of black slacks with a belt for some added texture, a leather jacket through over their shoulder, and of course, their Doc. Martin boots. Then, in the blink of an eye, while holding the seal, they were now, outside of Hogwarts, again.

The purpose of this? Cedar couldn't explain to you their thought process and was simply glad that no one noticed until Professor McGonagall spoke then the two made brief eye contact, the once Gryffindor head of house giving Cedar a knowing look and shook their head at them as Cedar stared back widened eye. This was on par with the past Hogwarts students, and they started to slowly head inside, before going quicker.

Yet throughout this all, there is one thing that was even more important than anything else. Cosmo! Cedar's loyal and father corgi companion is just as wild and just a tad stupid as Cedar was. Wherever Cedar was, Cosmo was to follow, and even now, Cosmo was also with Cedar, and yes, was dressed for the occasion, wearing a little bow-tie collar that matched Cedar's own outfit and bounded in after his owner, barking loudly at other students, before circling the crowd and would end up tailing behind, hearing the group of 1st-year university students which, who could be upset at such a good boy?

As they walked in, they immediately recognized a fellow Gryffindor and a big smile was plastered on their face as they quickly weaved their way to walking in pace with the other, Seraphina.
"Hey Serafina! Hi! How are you?"
They asked loudly, a smiling brightly at the others, simply glad to have someone they recognized in some fashion.

Lysander tried to keep his attention on the kind Friar as he continued to fill him in on all of the current goings on at Hogwarts, but, as was common for him, he found his gaze drfifting to all of the fancily attired guests. The young man chewed on the inside of his mouth, trying to tune into Fergus' diatribe about mischievous first years starting some sort of unsuccessful revolution, but it was at that moment that Lysander thought he heard the sound of barking and turned to find out where it had come from. He put up a distracted hand to Fergus,

"Do you hear barking or is that just..." he did not have time to finish that sentence as something solid suddenly collided with his shoulder. The 'something' happened to be a familiar girl, shooting him an apologetic smile and obviously trying to be discreet about her blunder.

The blonde returned her smile with a disarming one of his own, though he had noted just how much the collision had impacted his shoulder. Whoever had been the cause might've made a mean beater with that force.

"Aye, it's no problem. Nice to see yeh around here again. I've been looking for other Hogwarts folks and you're certainly not the worst I could have collided with." For all his regular charm and flattery, he meant his words. The girl he recognised as Divya was a pleasant sort from what little interactions he had had with her, but then again, he'd never met an unfriendly Hufflepuff in his life.

"Can't say I'm surprised that you're here," he added, watching her adjust her heel with mild amusement. "I always thought yeh could've made a pretty damn good Ravenclaw." Following that train of thought led him to another that amused him greatly: Amelia Ravenhurst had been a bleeding heart Gryffindor...a Gryffindor being nerdy enough to found a university without the input of a Ravenclaw seemed almost comical.

He frowned distractedly as his attention was caught by barking once more> Leaning in to Divya conspiratorially he added, "Am I going barmy or can you hear barking?" Dogs were not allowed at Hogwarts, nor were crups or any other variety of such creatures and Lysander couldn't help being interested in the prohibited. He was surprised that McGonagall was not reacting to it all.

Ruby is of course very excited to be back at Hogwarts, she did miss her old school, so she hoped Ravenhurtst wouldn't be too different, maybe a little bit different though. "Maybe they have a huge library I can spend time in." she mumbles to herself. She'a very glad her parents are so supportive, but she really could've gone without the heels, but she is a pureblood and according to her mother she had to wear them, they even went shopping for the dress too.

She spots quite a few former Hogwarts students and shakes her head slightly, why was ahe surprised by that anyway? It was the dean's school, though she hoped to see students from other schools as well. She could talk to the others, but it's not like her social skills have improved much between now and the time she last saw everyone, so she's just gonna wait until someone comes up to her, if anyone did anyway.

DIVYA.

  • mood

please let me crawl into a hole and die.

Divya Paraiyar suddenly has a new favourite word, vendetta. An eye for an eye, a life for a life. She finds it very fitting in this moment and it has become the only thing that even crosses her mind. Okay thats a lie, it's one of the two things that crosses her mind ── it just so happens to be a strikingly close link to the second thing as well; embarrassment. Divya wonders if she shuts her eyes that this will all be some cruel nightmare. So much for elegance. She can almost hear her mother's voice now, chiding her for acting so unladylike in the face of a "potential suitor". She would give anything to sink into the floor right about noq. Instead, she found herself staring up at the ceiling of the corridor with loathing. The edges of her eyes shone with tears like pools of stardust. The last thing she needed was to make a fool of herself before even entering the ballroom. This is something embarrassing.

So that's where vendetta first kicks in. If Divya could go back in time and throw the fight she would. She might be good at fighting, one of the best really (taught by a family hellbent on self defense), but as brilliantly as Divya knows her way around the routine of a fight, she's even better at picking them. Any fight is a good fight, Divya learnt young that being the loudest in an argument doesn't always equal being correct, and since then she had always been far more careful when picking verbal arguments over physical. But she had the bite to match the bark, and perhaps a pit of a complex when it came to making people walk, run, hobble or crawl away from her ── words, fists, daggers, teeth and all, Divya wasn't shy to put it on display, to place to up for auction. The audience's pickings really, she would work with whatever she was given.

She thought it best to keep her mouth shut, and let the girl who had shoved her keep her teeth. Being ladylike and all.

Swallowing the bitterness in her throat- and finally fixing the back of her heel, Divi finally let herself breathe. "You really must excuse my clumsiness," she said with an airy laugh, shaking her head at how stupid she she must have made herself look. As expected, Lysander was just as charming and charismatic as Divya had remembered, always had some girl wrapped around his finger one semester after another during their time at Hogwarts. She couldn't blame them though, not with that goddamn smile of his. "Better to run into you than a suit of armor, I suppose." She murmured under her breath, speaking more to herself than the blonde.

It's too familiar-- small talk, that is. Divya pulls her gaze from the floor, lips twisting down into a soft frown as her dark eyes look out into the crowd. She hadn't imagined this much of a turn out. Another laugh escaped DIvya, something snortish and a little ugly, but undeniably genuine. "I'm surprised you think so highly of me," She shrugged, her hair falling around her face in a way that could only be described as annoying. "I'd look something lumpy in blue, to be honest with you." Behind posh words, it was clear Divya had grown into her own in her time at Hogwarts, a little less uptight, a little more her.

She raised an incredulous eyebrow at his comment about hearing something barking, but saw no harm in playing along. Glancing back out at the suffocating entryway attendants. Her senses are flooded with excited first year university students talking over one another, the shrill laughter of the portraits surrounding them, and barking. Her eyes widened in surprise, "no, that's definitely a dog." She decided, whispering it just low enough for Lysander to hear. "McGonagall's gonna have a bloody field day."

Celaena Lyrei
Ebony tresses flowed down to rest against the lower back of Celaena in soft waves and curls. Piercing icy mercury-dipped silver-blue orbs flashed through the halls as the Lyrei heiress allowed nostalgia to take her away. Her very first year at Hogwarts and her sorting ceremony - the judgmental looks she got as the hat cried out her house. Everything had been well - she had been away from her father's eyes and could focus on her dream. Slytherin may have been known for being ambitious, cunning, and secretive, but the main quality that always had the glares and looks to get sent her way was her ability.

And speaking of the devil herself - the blue viper lifted her head from where it rested against the collarbones of her bonded witch. The viper was Rani - and she was the only family that Cel had, according to her. The dark blue scales stood out against the lighter blue gown that Celaena wore. The dress she wore was one of her mother's - she had found it buried in a trunk within the vault of her mother's at Gringots. The gown brushed the floor in layers of light slate blue, matte sapphire blue, and grey-purple ombre. Around the waist, floral patterns decorated her figure and outlined the top of her bodice. Off-the-shoulder sleeves fell down to the ground in a layer of dark blue, fading to slate blue. Her bodice was matte sapphire with a triangle of light ice blue fabric in the center of it. A necklace of amazonite stones glittered around Cel's neck, and a ring of garnet flowers gleamed brilliantly on her right hand. Her feet were adorned with a set of heels, the color going from a dark sapphire blue fading to silver at the heel and sparkling with every step.

She saw many former students from Hogwarts, and her anxiety kicked up a notch. Her fingers played along the scales of Rani in order to soothe her nerves. "Cel - are you alright?" Rani hissed softly to the witch as she shifted her weight to remove the ache from her feet. "I'm fine Rani. Just anxioussss. I really want to make mom proud. Even with her being gone." A tongue flicked out to soothe the witch fondly, the viper daring anyone to try and interact with her bonded. Most actually preferred to leave the so-called 'Ice Queen' of Slytherin alone, not just because of Rani, but also her cool and collected demeanor.

Ruby's blue eyes land on someone she actually can talk to, her former housemate, and since it is a party, or is going to be, she figured she should socialize at least a little bit. "I'm a bit surprised to see you here." she confessed after walking over to Celaena "Though there are many former Hogwarts students it seems, do you think that's because Amelia used to go here?" she asks.

While she could just stay alone that would be a bit boring eventually and if she talked now she wouldn't feel like she has to do that later on, so best to get it over with, from what she remembers Celaena isn't the most social person either, so that's another plus. She raises an eyebrow at all the jewerly and is secretly very glad she only has her emerald cobra bracelet and family ring right now, she had refused all the other things, wanting to keep it simple.

Upon hearing the voice of Cedar, she smiled as she turned around. "Ah Greetings Cedar!! I have been doing well and so has my little Owl, although I'am interested to see what this ball has in store." She was glad to see another Gryffindor Alumni here as she beamed at Cedar. Of course, she had preferred Cedar's company to say, the slytherins so talking to him was perfect for her.

Her brown eyes gleamed as she looked at her outfit. "And how have you been doing? I hope you've been fantastic." She said beaming softly at them. It had been a while since she last saw Cedar so she was excited to see a familiar face here. A light chuckle was heard as she gazed around, looking around for other gryffindor alumni.

After some nagging and what not from his father Adrian was glad to be brought to Hogwarts and he has to admit it looks pretty impressive, he also spots students who are most likely from Hogwarts initially, among them he is actually surprised to see his own cousin talking with someone "Great, probably mostly Hogwarts students, I'm not gonna know anyone aside from Ruby." he mumbles annoyed to himself and he sighs, going to look around the entrance, he still prefered Ilvermorny, he just hoped they wouldn't force him to speak the spells instead of just casting them.

Ezra watched his little sister excitedly run into the school's premises. It was a relatively big building and actually really pretty. He had wondered what magic schools in the UK were like. It definitely fits the bill. He wondered if it was okay to smoke on school grounds. He was an adult after all and he was still in front of the building so it wouldn't bother anyone to be sure. So he got out his pack of vogues and lit one. He would need a quick break before going into the crowd.
If his smoking bothered anyone he would put it out but assumed there was no harm as long as he wasn't inside. While smoking he looked around to see a few other people still at the entrance. His eyes fell onto a young man ( Flame Demon Flame Demon ) wearing a pretty suit which did make him look good. He shouldn't have let Vivi pick something for him to wear and should have just stolen one of his dad's suits.

Vivi ran ahead of her brother inside excited to see what was happening. She marbled at all the pretty people wearing such pretty dresses. Her eyes lit up when she saw a blue off shoulder dress with fairytale-esque sleeves. The woman wearing it seemed to carry a snake on her shoulders as well. It looked so pretty, Vivianna was a fan of snakes but was never allowed to have one due to her apartment's no-pet rule. She made her way through the crowd walking up to the woman. "Hey, excuse me." She smiled happily. "I love your dress and your little darling there!" Vivi gestured to the snake. "Does it have a name?" Just now did she notice the person standing with her.

Did she interrupt them? Vivi hoped they wouldn't mind her joining the conversation. "Sorry, didn't see you in the crowd!" She turned to the other woman wearing a beautiful emerald gown. "I love the color on you! I hope I am not interrupting you guys!"

A voice caught her attention and the Slytherin 'Ice Queen' turned er gaze to a fellow slytherin. Ruby was someone she knew well, being a fellow Slytherin. "Ruby. Wonderful to see you." the accented voice was smooth and cultured as the pureblood heiress spoke, her fingers gently carding over the scales of the viper around her neck. Celaena shrugged her elegant shoulders slightly, her necklace glittering in the lights as she tilted her head. "I honestly could see that being part of it. But I have noticed some Ilvermory students as well." The girl murmured lightly.

Ebony tresses gleamed an inky shade, almost like they shone blue in the light, as a new girl bounced over to the duo. Her piercing mercury-dipped blue orbs turned from Ruby to focus on the new addition to their small group. Rani lifted her head as she heard a new voice, and her sibilant hisses filled their area quickly. "Did you hear that? Ssshe thinksss I am darling!" Her hisses caused a soft smile to flit across her mistress's red-painted lips. "Yesss, I heard." Celaena murmured in parsel to Rani before turning her attention to Vivianna. "Thank you. This is Rani, and she is female of course to be exact she is a female white-lipped island viper." Cel happily spoke of her familiar and pet fondly. "And no worries - you weren't interrupting anything." Truth be told, any excuse that got her away from socializing she would take - especially if it included her Rani.

"Hmmm, but still, I do hope our house rivalries don't continue at this university." Ruby says and she scans everyone in the room "Ah yeah, this is gonna be fun." she mumbles, seeing who the student from Ilvermony is, for now she'll opt to ignore her cousin as she shifts some weight so her feet don't start hurting from her shoes.

At the excited girl bouncing over she smiles slightly "Just some advice, most people aren't fond of parseltongues, so please don't mention Rani too much, especially that loud." she tells the girl "I'm Ruby Knight, pleasure to meet you.", most people already knew, but that didn't mean everyone had to know it.

Vivi felt a bit taken aback scared she had done something wrong so she immediately turned to Celaena. "Sorry, I didn't know speaking Parseltongue was looked down upon, I always assumed it was cool to do so, like speaking a second language or something. But that's on me sorry I was homeschooled my parents weren't too fond of the idea of sending me and my brother to Durmstrung and well Germany has no wizarding school of our own." She smiled. "But that means I also got a Muggle education so that's something I guess. Also means I didn't miss out on the school experience, but I imagine wizarding school is much more fun than Muggleschool."

Looking back at the snake Vivi spoke up again this time in a softer tone so as to not attract any more attention. "But she really is a darling and with such a beautiful name too. I always wanted to get a Milk snake or ball python but couldn't. I am Vivianna by the way, or Vivi. Sorry for rambling I am just excited to be here and to be honest a bit nervous." She chuckled. "I assume you are from here, that you went to Hogwarts? Or are you from one of the other wizarding schools?"

Cedar nodded in agreement as their steps would match up with Serafina's, heading their corgi making a ruckus, and could only hope they wouldn't get in trouble. After all, Cedar did graduate already and there were probably more dangerous animals around than a simple dog.

"I've been doing pretty well! Keeping up with that quidditch training mostly,"
they said with a small laugh, as it was no secret that Cedar wanted to be a professional quidditch player.
"Also pretty excited about this ball too, there are a lot of new faces around too,"
they added in, picking out those they recognized from Hogwarts from the new faces, mostly to see who they could continue to talk to.

"By the way, you look stunning! I probably should have put in more effort myself, oh well. Have you seen any other Gryffindors?"
As Cedar did look around, they did feel a bit underdressed despite putting on some of their nicer outfits. They didn't have a lot of formal nice clothing to begin with, never one to care too much for appearances, so this was the best they could come up with. They thought about maybe magicking themselves a fancier look but that also would mean having to cast a spell, which, sure, they could do, but Cedar knew themselves. They could and probably would mess up and could end up with no clothing at all, which honestly is even worse. Next big event, they probably will dress up more.

Isla Fey slid the last butterfly-shaped hairpin through her silvery blonde locks with a small sigh as she surveyed her appearance. A small frown marred her soft features as she glanced down at the thick parchment letter and purple wax seal sat on the desk of her cousin's spare room.

Maybe, she thought, Ravenhurst will be better than Durmstrang. 'Really, it can't get much worse...' she nodded to herself and pushed thoughts of alienation and ridicule from her mind. Isla stood, smoothing out her dress and turning to see Saga standing in the doorway. Her cousin was not smiling of course-because that would just be mildly unsettling and Isla might have to question whether polyjuice potion had been used- but she looked beautiful as always.

'It will be okay, Isla' Saga reassured as she moved to sit on the edge of the bed, her gaze flickering over the chaotic mess of potion supplies strewn over the floor and bed, with the air of someone trying their best not to blow a gasket at the sight of mess.

'In any case, you are going to Hogwarts today. You will finally get to see where I learned. I hear Professor McGonagall is still there.' Saga paused at the sound of scuffling coming from somewhere in the room. Isla shifted from one foot to another, uncomfortably and tried not to look under her bed where her new niffler companion now sat. She had managed to convince him not to go after her sparkly hairpins or leave the room to raid the cutlery draw so far, but she knew Linus was restless.

'You have some sort of beast in here, don't you?' Saga sighed deeply as she stood and pulled the covers up on the bed to reveal the black and grey baby niffler amusing himself with a golden galleon.
'Vad fan, Isla?' the woman cursed in her native Swedish, caught off guard by the fact an unexpected 'visitor' was in her home and curiously sniffing her leg.

'I met him yesterday and his name is Linus,' Isla insisted, beckoning the creature to her. 'He wants to come to the celebration tonight.'

'Isla, this isn't going to help you. You are just setting yourself up for...' Saga halted herself mid-sentence, softened her gaze and made to leave the room. She and Isla both knew that having an animal companion around might be best for the girl despite the chaos it may cause, and they both knew that Isla could not be dissuaded in this instance. For both women, humans were difficult. Creatures were easier.
'Whatever, just don't get caught. You are an adult now so you figure out your own shit.' A small smile crossed her face, barely perceptible. 'You look okay, by the way. Too many flowers on the dress though.' With that, Saga left the room.

Isla chuckled lightly, feeling much less tense now that Linus was climbing up her arm in an attempt to reach her hair and pilfer her sparkly hairpins. It was time to face another room filled with her peers, hopefully this time a much nicer experience.
'Come now, Linus. We have a party to attend.' The young woman picked up the purple wax seal, turned it thrice in hand and felt a whip of air as she landed outside of Hogwarts Castle.

It was truly rather breathtaking to behold with its lake and rugged Scottish landscape and the oil lanterns lighting the way to the great oak front doors. There were already many people arriving, dressed to the nines in beautiful gowns and robes. Her attention quickly shifted from them to the dark outline of a forest in the sunset. The Forbidden Forest: perhaps she could find a way in since she would never be likely to see it again once the night ends.

'Linus, you must behave and play hide and seek under my dress. Though I suppose in this case, I can't seek you until the end of the night.' The baby niffler cocked his head, disgruntled as the half-veela knelt down to his level. 'Don't worry, I will feed you, gubben!' she assured, stroking his snout, delicately.

And so the pair entered the entrance hall. Isla's grey eyes widened as she took in the sights. So taken was she with the architecture that she barely noticed the awe-filled stares of others in the room, no doubt entranced by her veela beauty. Nor did she notice that Linus had slipped out from under her dress and made his way over to a pair of students accompanied by a corgi, eager to sniff the funny creature humans called a dog.

'Oh Linus!' she exclaimed, under her breath. She was taken aback at how comfortable she already felt. 'Look at all the beautiful portraits and...oh no, Linus!' Isla spotted the niffler scuffling his way over to the corgi and knew she had to intervene, walking swiftly over to the small group with a sudden lump in her throat.

Celaena Lyrei
"Ruby!" Celaena scolded gently, mercury-dipped orbs blazing before she allowed a soft laugh to escape Celaena's lips as she listened to Vivianna speak. Her eyes softened just barely as she shook her head. "My dear, you are completely fine. Ruby likes to worry. It is well-known in Hogwarts that I am a parselmouth." The ebony-haired female reassured the younger girl fondly. Her heiress ring glimmered on her finger as she stroked her hand down the snake around her neck. Cel had no issue with her talent in parseltongue being known to others. While most of Britain refused to take it with a grain of salt sadly, most believed the girl to be dark - when in reality, she was more or less neutral. She just wanted to focus on her dream. That was all.

"Lady Celaena Lyrei at your service. You can call me Celaena - or Cel if that is easier." The Slytherin gave a practiced curtsy as she introduced herself. Her Australian accent came through a bit thickly as she spoke, "I went to school here, Slytherin." And she was proud of it by far. Mostly, her ambition to follow her career path is what landed her in Slytherin: that and her parseltongue ability, of course. She smiled elegantly as Rani rested her head against her collarbone, her soft touch soothing the viper around her neck as she spoke with Vivi and Ruby. Seeing Ruby's cousin, Cel couldn't resist the groan that escaped her lips. "Why did we have to invite all schools?" She murmured to Ruby. Many students around the ballroom decided to steer clear of the ebony-haired witch due to the viper around her neck, which suited the lady perfectly fine - thank you. Ilvermory wasn't one of the schools that Cel was fond of - mainly because she had ended up having a few run-ins with some students during her years at Hogwarts and let's just say those encounters weren't the best.

Ruby simply mentions to the former Gryffindor students who hadn't even bothered to come their way to at least come day hi, probably since they recognized them from their rivaling house or whatever "You know how they are, probably think you'd try to seduce Vivianna to join the 'dark' side, also since there are other schools I just figured not everyone has to know, keeping a few things to yourself might be useful," she tells Celaena "and I think it's cool, my grandparents speak it, but it skipped my parents and me."

She gives a soft laugh seeing her reaction to her cousin "Oh he's harmless, likes to tease about Hogwarts being inferior, but he has no ill intentions, besides, think how he feels, surrounded by mostly Hogwarts Allumni." she says, she had to admit she's surprised to see him, didn't think he was the type to come, even if it helped keep him out of trouble and danger. "I just hadn't expected to see him though, figured he's stick to traveling, but I guess that means the owl doesn't have to fly everywhere.", she knows it's probably not known she has a cousin who attended Ilvermony, though it wasn't that she kept a secret "I should go talk to him soon though, he's my cousin after all, don't want him feeling left out of the party."

Vivi felt like she was in good company. "Nice to meet you, Celaena and Ruby." She smiled. "I am sure those people just need to learn how to mind their own business." Her two new acquaintances felt like fun and she didn't feel as overwhelmed anymore. "On top of that, what if I am secretly trying to seduce both of you to the dark side? They will never expect it." She joked, winking at them. Her gaze shifting over to also get a quick glance at the mentioned cousin. He looked nice? But then again Vivi's toxic trait was that she thought everyone looks nice, much to her brother's pain.

If she didn't have him sticking aroundher when she was small she would have one hundret procent crawled into a candy van. It wasn't that she was stupid but she was a bit naive, trying to see the best in everyone. It doens't always work out well for her but shit happens. Nothing you could do about it. "So, I am guessing you guys all know each other already?"

So, I am guessing you're here for the ball too?" He looked at him a smile adorning his face. "The suit looks good on you." Taking another breath of his cigarette, being careful to blow the smoke away from his new aquaintance. "I should probably transfigure the suit, so I don't look like I just rose from the dead. But Vivi would not let me hear the end of it if I did."

He held his package of cigarettes out toward the other. "Do you smoke?" He offered him one. Not really sure what to ask otherwise as small talk has never been quite his strongsuit. "Are you from here?"

The Day of the Ball

Dancing, Speeches and Houses: Ravenhurst's Speech

tumblr_niag8hj76V1tebpzgo2_500.gif

Amidst the chatter and excitement of waiting for the ball to commence, the grand doors of the Great Hall begin to open and you are led by Professor McGonagall into the enormous room. The usual four rows of house tables are nowhere to be seen. The floor is cleared to dance and two buffet tables stand on either side of the hall with magically replenished food sat upon golden platters. The ceiling (usually bewitched to look like the night sky) now has five significant banners hovering from it. In the middle, a purple and gold crest adorned with two wands crossed over the silhouette of a castle turret and the words 'optimum magicae' underneath the crest; to the immediate right, a red and silver crest adorned with crossed swords and the word 'Alastor' beneath it; beside that, one in blue, green and silver adorned with two owls and the word 'Merlin'; another on the left of the first in orange and gold with a pair of hands shaking and the word 'Ignotus' and the last in black and silver with a mountain summit and the word 'Morgana'.

Some of the Hogwarts staff sit at the head table, including McGonagall (who has now taken her seat at the grandest chair), Professors Flitwick and Sprout and the Gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid. Ms Ravenhurst stands at the grand golden eagle podium with a bright smile on her face, clad in a beautiful dress of deep green, scanning the room.

"Good evening to you all! I am Amelia Ravenhurst, the soon-to-be dean of Ravenhurst University of the Magical Arts. I am delighted to welcome you all to this welcome ceremony, though you may be wondering why I have chosen this particular venue." Amelia smiles, sweeping a glance around the room with obvious fondness. "Hogwarts School is widely known as one of the most prestigious of the eleven wizarding schools in the world, a feat I hope we can replicate at Ravenhurst, but the main reason we are here, is because Hogwarts, for many including myself, is like a sanctuary, a second home. This is the most important thing we should bring with us to our university. Tonight, not only will you get to mingle with your fellow colleagues, but all students shall be placed in their houses later this evening..." she gestures to the banners floating from the ceiling, "I won't bore you with anymore talk. Without further ado, let the party commence. Try not to get too giddy on the punch won't you?"

With that, a lively waltz begins to play and a burst of fireworks explode from the ceiling in an array of colour, dissipating just before the point they could reach the heads of the crowd.

"I don't smoke." Adrian tells him "And thanks, my father wanted me to wear a traditional wizard robe, but luckily my aunt and uncle went shopping for a suit, having expected that." he explains "We should go in though, before we miss anything important." he tells him "And no, I went to Ilvermony, my cousin on the other hand went to Hogwarts, but that was closer to her home then flying to America every year.".

He did miss spending time with his family, but his parents wanted him to be raised a pureblood, Ruby could've chosen to do whatever she wanted as long as she didn't reveal her magic, he envied that. He inspects the other one for a moment and decides to help out a bit, so he takes off his jacket, holding it out "Wear that so you can hide those sleeves at least, that way your sister won't get mad at you." he explains.
