Girouette
Lizard knight Overlord
(This is the explanation of most of what you need to know for this roleplay)
The MonstersThe monsters of the world are what you'll be looking at 90% of the time there's any action, so listing them first is reasonable. Considering the size of most of them, looking at anything else may be considered impossible.
Because of the sheer diversity in creatures, listing all of them here would be impossible, so we've decided to classify them into Five different sizes, and Six danger level classifications (Which may then be accompanied with an even more specific letter-grade), First, some detailed overview on these classifications and the monsters.

The Creatures appeared around 2600 years prior to the current time-period, and humanity have long since forgotten what brought them into existence. In fact, on the backs of the Fortress-class monsters, many forget the corruption that ravishes the land below, or simply think it's something they shouldn't concern themselves with. However, as a new member of A Titan Hunter guild, you'd be expected to know of the history and have an interest in the monsters, so here's a quick summary.
About 2700 years ago, the original monster came into being. His origin is unknown, although theories of godly punishment, cosmic energy, and dark Magic were widely accepted. Nonetheless, due to a lack of a better name, this creature was named 'The Origin'. It was a creature of such immense strength and power that it was claimed he could wipe stars from the sky with a simple glance.
This being possessed a seething loathe towards anything on the Earth. Flowers, animals, rivers, and humans most of all. With his coming, humanity was plunged into an age of darkness. The lights in the sky vanished, blocked out by a seemingly impenetrable veil of darkness, and humans were tortured and kept in prison-like towns. It was truly the most miserable act to ever be committed towards humanity.
A hundred years of depravity and suffering later, humanity found a way to fight back.
Perhaps the Gods had enough of the cruel joke , when out of seeming nothing, the first Titan slaying weapon appeared. Nobody knows if it was forged or found, but there it was. A lone hero, his name lost to history, took up the Diavolul Blade and stood up for humanity against The Origin.
After a fierce battle, he found that he was unable to kill The Origin despite his best efforts. However, The Soul of the Origin, it's immense source of power, was shattered into millions of fragments.
These fragments spread across the world, and as you might've inferred by now, began to form the creatures know roaming the earth.
These Titans, about 50 years after the Origin was slain, began to overtake humanity in population, and due to the sheer size and danger of some, humans eventually found themselves once more in hiding. This time, however with much more freedom than before. It could even be said that, Two thousand years later, many had forgotten the oppression and dangers the Earth below held, free on the backs of fortress monsters they live upon.
Except for you, of course. A greater purpose is yours, then this simple "Freedom"
Due to the diversification of titans, the guilds and groups which attempt to hunt them have classified them in a variety of ways.
For this specific guild, the classifications are fairly simple.
First, the size classifications.
Small
Small monsters are the most common. Simply due to size, and generally are not as unique as the larger ones (Being that there are creatures that could be said to be in the same "Species"), on average the smaller creatures tend to only vary from "Harmless" to "Mild". However, some small creatures posses human level intelligence, and reach the "Dangerous" level of classification.
The size of these creatures would be anywhere from the size of a bug to 15 meters.
Medium
Medium sized monsters are what would be classified as 16 meters to 70 meters.
Most of these creatures aren't humanoid, but some of the smaller-medium ones can resemble towering human like ogres.
They generally have animistic traits, and most Wyvern-type Titans, Plant-type Titans, etc are Medium sized.
Large
Large type creatures are 70 meters to 5 Kilometers. This means they are mostly found as Sea-beasts, flying creatures...
Very, very few of these are humanoid.
This is what most fortress class titans are, and generally need to be approached with a more tactical combat style.
Titan
The Titan class is made up of the largest creatures, from 5 Kilometers stretching to an undefined point, it's been said that some of the serpents in this class are close to 600 Kilometers long, although anything larger than 60 Kilometers generally has to be something that lives in the water, and so the titan class is mostly taken up with creatures of the largest mountains size, or sea serpents, they are generally the most dangerous due to simple size. Some are even the size of continents.
Similar to the size classification, danger classification is a simple explanation for the sake of assessing a type of monster. It also is a good indicator of the quality of a creatures soul.
Harmless
The harmless classification is, interestingly. The most common!
These are monsters that wouldn't pose a threat to an average farmer, and if small sized, could probably killed without Diavolul weaponry! These size monsters are even sometimes domesticated for use as farm-animals, pack-mules, and even pets.
Of course, even with these Harmless creatures, they could kill you on accident, and taming monsters is a dangerous task, so a professional domesticator is generally contacted by farmers and guilds
These are generally herbivores.
Mild
A mild danger level generally implies they won't seek out destruction or hunting humans, though if provoked or hungry they will easily tear apart an untrained farmer. Could still be killed without Diavolul weaponry, but it would take a few men and a few casualties to take down even a small sized one. Generally considered Omnivores.
Moderate
A moderate danger creature will be almost impossible to take down without a Diavolul weapon, and even for a seasoned hunter without proper preparation can easily be stomped out. These creatures are Omnivores or Carnivorous, and will often have an instinct to hunt down humans and other creatures instead of remaining docile.
Caution.
A creature that could be considered in the caution level is something that should not be approached alone, even as a seasoned hunter.
These types of creatures almost will always attack on site, and are not driven solely by hunger or self-defense. Many intelligent creatures fall into this category.
Death
A creature under death level should not ever be hunted without an entire group of hunters with Diavolul weaponry, creatures in this specification are generally very intelligent. Generally guilds will simply flee if there's even an indication of even an E- Death class creatrure in the area.
Fortress
Fortress class is an oddity, a secondary class of sorts.
Fortress class simply means the creature can be lived on, and is habitable, giant sea turtles with villages on them, flying caravans of giant bird creatures, living towers on the backs of Wyverns...Creatures like this fall under the Fortress class, they can be put in this class if tamed or taken over, or simply be too large to even notice humans on it.
The World
The world that this story takes place in is fairly alike our own as far as geography and climate is concerned, with the exception of the Monsters and the various cultures inhabiting, I won't list every culture and kingdom due to Space and Time restraints, so I'd like to implore you to make your own culture. Simply base it off a real-one if you like, or use one someone else has made.
In addition, the era this takes place in would be akin to the Renaissance ages of our own history.
One thing to note is where kingdoms and civilizations are founded, almost all cultures have sprung up soley on the back of fortress class titans, or have adopted a nomadic life-style for safety. Use this when creating your characters backstory! Did your fortress class titan have a toxic atmosphere? Was is angled oddly? Was it flying? Was it in the sea? Use your imagination for how your characters society has adapted to these environments.
So what about you?
Why are you hunting? You may ask.
People live in peace on fortress class titans, humanity is flourishing in the case of the worlds state. So why would you join a guild dedicated to hunting them?
Well, for those purposes it would vary, but the guilds themselves have generally specific goals. Some guilds wish to fight for glory, some for materials, some for revenge, and some simply for the power to be taken from their souls. Individual members may have their own interests and reasons I implore you to explore.
Orphsurdum
The guild you have joined is called Orphsurdum, founded by a person called "Erel Funual", who believes himself to be a member of the Great Heroes decedents.
It's purpose being to keep on the great heroes legacy, and take on the origin itself. Who Erel believes to still be out there, somewhere, Growing in power.
Whether or not this is true does not matter, you have joined the guild over other guilds possessing Diavoul weaponry for a reason, haven't you? To save the world, because it was nearby, the other guilds wouldn't take you? For any reason, you've come to it!
Orphsurdum, the guild hall itself, is located on a fortress class titan called Soplim, a giant sea-turtle around 600km long. However, you will be a member of an expedition to the mainland, so this is fairly irrelevant!
Diavoul weaponry
You're probably wondering at this point what "Diavoul weaponry" is, as it has been mentioned quite a bit.
The actual origin of Diavoul fragments is unknown, but most assume they are fragments of the energy contained within the original Great Heroes weapons, hence the name.
Generally found underground, Diavoul fragments can be very small and still create a plenitude of weapons, currently only 10 have been found, and every guild only possesses between one or two of them!
Diavoul weapons, however, are not forged like normal weaponry. They are imbued with both monster souls and connected to the souls of the wielders. As such, they are both adaptable and unique.
Also. They're very big! Or atleast can change size well enough, use some creativity, a simple giant sword, cythe, bow, or cannon can be fun, but make sure it reflects your character in some capacity...And can also kill giant creatures.
Souls
Now, one of the most important mechanics! One of the best for last!
The bread and butter of the upgrade and progression system of the role-play, every monster possesses a soul-fragment of the Origin.
Small creatures possess small souls, and it progresses like that. If a creature is killed with a Diavoul weapon, then its soul will be extracted and left as a wisp of energy, that can be used for the hunters own purposes.
A guild member possessing a Diavoul fragment-weapon can absorb a monster soul in order to increase their own attributes, based off the monsters attributes. They can imbue their weapon with a fragment, increasing its stats, or they can store it for later use in a stone.
Sometimes, monster souls of certain power can be "Equipped" instead of absorbed, they can directly enhance the user with specific traits and abilities instead of simply absorbing attribute increases.
The human-body can accept four of these enhancement souls at any given time, and through the use of Diavoul weaponry, can be removed and swapped out in about an hour of preparation, though they cannot be swapped between people.
A hunter can access two Active equips, and two Passive equips, souls that are eligible to be equipped can be equipped in either "Slot"
Active souls grant abilities such as generating fire, gliding, turning to stone, enlarging yourself, turning your nails into claws, etc.
Passive souls grant passive traits such as a larger lung capacity, greater hearing, stronger-leg muscles, etc.
This also has the side-effect of causing Physical alterations on a person, such as a change in hair-color, physical monster attributes such as wings, tails, claws, etc, etc. For instance, one of the hunting guild leaders is rumored to have "Equipped" so many strong souls, they are more similar to a monster in appearance than human.
Generally, for the purposes of this RP...Those will be minimal, but it certainly separates a hunter from a common folk at a glance.
And with that, you know basically everything you need to know! Head on over to OOC to ask questions, or the character page to make your character!
