Yes, the more I read over it, the more I come to the same conclusion. I don't think enough information has been given to the non-Light heirs to conceive such a thing. Maybe in a few posts, if they manage to squeeze more details out of Boja. 🤔
 
Just so you guys know, I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to see family over Thanksgiving and may or may not have time to post while I am gone.
 
I think it's probably a suggestion that should come from Edare, then- Nima is very creative at solving things through her fists, but less so through lies and politics!

I'll hopefully have a response up tonight, any preference for if Edare pulls this shenanigans then or in a future round?
 
However you see this best going down. I imagine Cain might be able to come up with it, given enough information. But would it be convincing? Can't say.
 
So, I remember we talked a bit about the whole dealio regarding Kalden's death, both ic and ooc. Do we remember what all we established so far? I don't think I kept any notes on it, beyond the RP logs. I do know it's rumored that ex-Water Kingdom pirates were behind it and whatnot.
 
i have various vague and occasionally contradictory ideas, but here's what I think has been implied/established in canon:

  • Kalden's death is recent but not super recent- at least half a year ago, but probably not more than a year ago
  • Kalden died in an attack of some sorts, presumably by raiders/pirates suspected of 'affiliation' with the water kingdom
    • no one would outright suggest that the Water Kingdom would have hired people to kill Kalden, but particularly paranoid or warmongering members of the Assembled might have privately thought it
    • Brightest did make public remarks about the Water Kingdom's inability to control their own exiles and criminals, and relations between the monarchs were likely very tense for awhile there
  • Kalden's body was never recovered/returned
  • neither Edare nor Nima were present, something they both carry a lot of not-well-hidden guilt for
    • Edare was also not with Nima or with the queen at the time, which is unusual- unless tasked otherwise by Brightest, Edare was almost always with one of the twins. Since Kalden had been officially named as Heir and a timeline had been set for him to take the Throne and for his mother to retire, Edare was pretty much by default assigned as a personal guard and advisor to Kalden.
    • the three had not spoken to each other in at least a month, after the unpleasant revelations that kalden was in love with edare and edare was in love with nima and nima was like 'nooooooope'
      • i dont know exactly how that went down and if nima was involved in any direct conversations, or if she just acted oblivious in an attempt to spare feelings. (She wasn't actually oblivious though- One of the rare situations in which Nima did at least have some suspicion that she should be considerate of other's emotions!)
  • Kalden was not within the Bright Valley at the time of his death
    • ?????? idk
    • he wasn't necessarily trespassing, but basically he wasn't well within the safety of the valley or within distance of people that would have quickly responded
    • maybe he was on a boat/ship?
      • ah my old nemesis, geography
      • maybe the Bright Valley isn't totally landlocked and has access to a river that meets up with the sea?
        • this would certainly have encouraged Brightest to have wished to strengthen relations with the Water Kingdom, since they presumably have a bit of a monopoly on water-based trade that Bright Folk could benefit from
      • if he was on a boat/ship, then the purpose of his mission/travels can be interpreted more widely.... maybe he was just traveling to visit other tribes of Bright Folk down the river, or maybe he was headed to meet with royals from the Water Kingdom in the name of encouraging positive relations WHO KNOWS
        • nima does not know. edare might? he was generally more aware of and in-tune with Kalden's vision of a future for the Bright Nation and the various policies and platforms he wanted to advance, but also he and Kalden had been uncomfortably avoiding each other for at least a month so he probably doesn't know the specifics
  • I think it's been stated that Kalden fell to his death? but that can be ret-conned if needed, and 'falling' is pretty vague to begin with
  • Kalden was presumably with other people at the time of his death- Some sort of retinue or guards at least. (Kalden did not possess the physical aptitude that Nima does, and would not have been allowed outside the capitol/fortress without some sort of escort.) It's unknown- or at least unestablished- what their fate was

This is new info! I do recall Edare attempting to confess while the Dark Palace was on fire, but I don't remember a triangle. Dramaaaa~

I do believe Kalden was traveling at the time, yes. I couldn't remember if we said why. I guess the answer is that we didn't yet.

Nima's been avoiding Edare's attempts to have that conversation for YEARS, shes not gonna let a few little things like arson, treason and conspiracy of regicide end her successful streak
 
Hey, sorry for the delay. My internet went down last week, and then we got a temporary fix on Monday but this week has been busy. Anyway, it's getting fixed fixed tomorrow, and I will try to get a reply up within the next day or two.

Yeah I’m trying to Figure a way to get him more involved - he’s pretty ready to throw down so maybe he could attack Boja if given the opportunity?
 
Bojas got some choice words about this twist and edare and Nima will also have some dialogue, but bojas gonna be shocked enough that there could certainly be an opening to strike- so you could do that for your next reply or maybe we could switch up the order and coso could go after my post if Cain/amarina have immediate responses and then Dagon would have more to respond to as well

If I don't get any immediate ideas for a reply my next turn, I may tell Coso to go ahead, if everyone is okay with that. However, I would rather wait to read your reply before making that decision.
