Genesis: The Beginning

The Setting



The city of New Angeles is a city set in a fictional United States, comparable to a cross between New York City and Las Vegas. Gambling, drugs, and crime are prevalent, but those who fight their way to the top by means of luck, hard work, or not-so-legal methods - perhaps a combination of all three - can find themselves living in luxury with fame and fortune sitting in their palms. As a new law passed by the Mayor of New Angeles to help redistribute wealth and release New Angeles’ youth from the chains of drugs and crime, all children are required to attend one large school at the center of the city. For some it’s a gift, but for others it’s a curse. Now students from all classes and backgrounds attend the same classes, follow the same curriculum, and are forced to cooperate. At least, that’s what the city presumed would happen. However, they couldn’t be more wrong.

The Districts



Due to the merging of all students to New Angeles High School, the students all ordinate from one of the many districts of New Angeles. Below is a description of the ones that will be included in this part of our story.


The Myriad District – The Wealthy District


The Myriad District is one of all glitz and glam. It became the center of wealth in New Angeles shortly after IntuiTech built their center of operations there. A huge demand for technology soon sprouted and business was booming. The Myriad District is now home to many casinos, high-end clubs, and skyscraper business buildings. Though beneath all the shine of The Myriad District lie streets that you can't walk alone at night and a crime rate almost as bad as The Diamond District.


The Central District – The Average District


As a strong agriculturally focused society in the past, The Central District has always been a bit behind the times. However due to its centralized family-like society, it's developed strong trade network with is still prevalent today in its many business and markets. Many street performers can be found on the streets of The Central District due to its high traffic in all methods of transportation.


The Diamond District – The Poor District


The Diamond District was named after the large amount of diamonds found in the area during the late 1700s to early 1800s. It also become the center of operation of New Angeles - which was called Diamond City at the time - during the industrial revolution. Many people thought that the wealth would localize here, but it ended up shifting to The Myriad District when a large technological company built there. Sometimes the well lain brick roads can be seen underneath the cracked asphalt reminding the inhabitants of the area's once rich past.


The Northern District - The Eccentric District


Due to its distance from the majority of the city, The Northern District has never really been seen as part of New Angeles. Northern District kids often get bullied worse than Diamond District kids when they come into the cities due to offset in fashion and habits. Despite giving off the idea that it is a rural district because of its distance, it is comparable to the The Myriad District in architecture and vices.


The Not In Character Stuff



I hope this to be part 1 out of ? if enough interest is shown - which means that this role play will have a definite conclusion. Some people may join and some may leave, all which will add interest in variety to the story.


Expectations:


- Preferably multiple daily responses


- A minimum of 6 lines for each response (It won’t be hard with all the content that should occur)


- Kindness out of character and whatever you want in character


Things Not To Worry About:


- Your familiarity with the story, background of other characters, etc


- Your role-playing ability

Stuff That Needs To Be Said: Due to the nature of this story, I feel adult themes will be quite prevalent in varying intensities from implications to clear black and white. I would like this to be highly realistic and adult themed things happen quite often in reality. I apologize if this inconveniences you.

Backstory


Dani is a very creative girl. She has many different skills. Her strongest skill is her creativity. She dreams of becoming famous by writing her novels and performing on Broadway. Her creativity leads to curiousity, and curiousity tends to lead to many bad things. She's very smart. By the time she was twelve she realized that her father doesn't work as long as he spends out - due to the fact she helps with the bills - and started to shove her nose in the business. It turned out her father was cheating on her mother, so Dani immediately told her mother. Her mother, not really liking Dani to begin with, thought Dani knew all along and wanted nothing to do with her, divorced her father and left. This started a whole family feud and no one wants to anything to do with Dani. Even though she lives with her father, he's never home for her. She practically raised herself since she then.

Personality:


Nick is very aware of his status and instead of squashing it, strives to uphold it and generally just be a gigantic asshole. Much to the distaste of those around him, unless of course they, like most are to preoccupied with his general air of casual charm and flirtatiousness. Where Stone is good at getting girls to go out with him once or twice, keeping them seems to be the trick. He has been interested in a couple of his ex's but finds that he can talk his way out of things or be a giant asshole on a date or with his friends.


Much of his, 'I am too cool to care' persona comes from his upbringing. When he was younger, his parents used to be out all night and come back at dawn in terrible shape. But it was wash, rinse repeat with the cycle. Of course his mother is technically a bartender at one of the high-end clubs but she could be found doing not as presentable jobs. If you could even consider a bartender presentable. He grew cold towards his parents and spent tons of time working on himself. Via many ways. The most effective being his reputation.

Backstory:


How many times have you looked at the popular kid and just ogled about how great they looked or how they had so many friends? A fair few times I assume, but that isn't something that many even hope at attaining. Just pretty much worship the very ground they walk upon. Nick had higher hopes and by grade 10 he had risen to the peak of his grade and attained the playboy status after many, many relationships. Though many wouldn't even call them that. During that time, his father was assigned a new position across the continent to complete some task for the military. His mother was worried, though he couldn't blame her. Many of his fathers co-workers never returned from these covert operations.


He had been raised from that point on by his mother on her bartender salary and the checks that came in from the government with no note or update about his father. Sub-consciously the nagging was there about how his father was doing, but he never officially made it clear that he was concerned. He continued his day to day routine holding back his feelings and diverting his attention to girls.


Just girls.

Personality: His family, which used to be heavy in the agricultural business, raised him to be polite and proper. However, they could never get him off his guitar. It's an electric/acoustic that he fantasizes he'll play in an Indie Rock band. He can't shut up about it. He's an excellent songwriter, but he can never make titles. Almost all of his songs are without titles, and his aforementioned future band is also nameless.


Backstory: He was raised in a semi-large family. Two older brothers, and one younger sister. He was somewhere in the middle, and it kinda left him unnoticed. Which fuels into his desire for everyone to know who he is. At the age of seven, his Uncle Joe gave him a lovely blue electric/acoustic guitar. He's been enthralled by it ever since. He never minded the one big school idea, he thought it's be a good opportunity to get his name out there.


Hobbies: Playing the guitar, singing, songwriting, and fantasizing.


Orientation: Straight.


Likes: Betsy. Music. Standing out. Being noticed.


Dislikes: The word "Petri dish" because he always misspells it Peatree. And the words Bologna and Colonel for the same reason.


Allergies: Lactose Intolerant; very (but not fatally) allergic to pet dandruff


Notable Relationships: He's been having a steady relationship with Betsy for about 10 years now. Her long neck always makes him come back for more. They've been together long enough that he's mastered using his fingers on her. She's so loud when he uses her. He'll play with her anywhere, all alone, in public, in a church, you name it. Yeah, Betsy is the best guitar he could ask for.


Quirks: He's never been, nor probably ever will be good at making titles.


Description: 5' 9" and a bit lanky. His fingers are a quite calloused. His hair is short and messy. He's got blue eyes, and a genuine smile. He's usually wear a plain t-shirt with some kind of light jacket. He's always carrying Betsy with him whether in her case or out in the air. She never leaves his side. Rumor has it, he has a queen-sized bed and tucks Betsy in at night next to him, before kissing her goodnight.
