Rose lifted her gaze when she heard the familiar steps that belonged to Emory. While the other male normally had the cold expression that lingered on his face, she didn’t recognize the rage that had filled his honey eyes. It was something that concerned her greatly. She hoped that she hadn’t been the one that caused it. She wouldn’t know how to handle herself if she did. The air between them was already awkward and tense. She only hoped that it didn’t last like this for too long. She hated any sort of disagreements. She just felt as though the other male couldn’t stand being around her right then. He had seemed to flinch away earlier when she was just trying to help. Now he seemed to be upset about something still. She bit her bottom lip as she debated on whether or not she should ask him if he was alright.
She stayed quiet though after she spoke, surprised that he didn’t respond for a little bit. It didn’t make her feel good. A bit of dread seemed to settle in her stomach. She only could assume that she had caused his thoughts to be turning in the way that they currently were. She straightened her posture some and allowed a light breath to leave her lips. She was mentally begging for Viola to finish with the meal so that she could eat and head to her room. She might even take the gamble and go out to look at the stars. It had been a while since she had been lucky enough to stargaze. She did have a balcony off of her room. She could always just go out onto it. She didn’t realize that she had drifted off into her own thoughts until she heard Emory finally respond.
“You’re welcome. If it does not work as well, I can include more herbs to make a stronger dosage. I normally don’t need it to be strong, but every person is different.” She forced her tone to sound a bit lighter than. Maybe if she tried to improve her mood, it would help improve Emory’s mood as well. It was a silly thought, but she had to try whatever it took. The words were lingering on the tip of her tongue. She couldn’t hold them in anymore. “Are you alright? You seem more distant than normal.” She inquired. She hoped then that she didn’t overstep her boundaries.
She blinked at his comment and nodded. “I won’t put any up where you can easily see them if you don’t want me to. I just wanted to try to improve the atmosphere here. The walls are rather bare.” She pointed out. She offered him the familiar smile that commonly lit up her face. She was just trying to see if she could help him in some way. “I know that this is rather a long shot, but is there any way I might be able to disguise myself to head into town tomorrow? I want to see how the kingdom will be celebrating my birthday when they believe I am dead,” She paused to lightly shake her head,” It is rather ironic that they will be mourning my death on my birthday, while I am still alive and well. It is almost comical.” She mused.
