An Altered Timeline..
Hundreds of years ago two shinobi by the names of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha died during their first battle. Though they seemed like promising talents, they died before accomplishing anything of note. The bitter rivalry between the Senju and Uchiha clans continued unabated and escalated to the point that they eventually wiped each other out. Other victims of this tragic war were the Uzumaki, who were allied with the Senju and the Hyuuga, who the Uchiha sought an alliance with to even the odds. After these four clans destroyed each other the Warring States period, wherein shinobi clans battled each other endlessly and children died on the battlefield, continued on for another hundred years...


An Altered World...
Familiar nations fell, new ones rose. Famous shinobi clans went extinct while previously obscure ones developed new techniques and rose to prominence. Finally five ninja from different clans came together to defeat a terrible evil and put an end to the Warring States period. In some versions the heroes face nine giant monsters, in others they face one beast with ten tails and in some versions the evil is a warrior of some kind. In all versions the five heroes successfully seal away the evil and then come together to try and establish a shared utopia for all shinobi. But the five heroes couldn't agree on what virtue their utopia should prize, so they eventually split up, with each hero forming a village of their own in different lands. These lands eventually came to be so influenced by the ideals of these heroes that they changed their names to reflect them.

Wakaya, the peerless infiltrator, Formed the village hidden in the marshes (Numachigakure) in what became the Land of Wisdom

Sukuna, the preeminent user of shinobi tools formed the village hidden on ships (Funegakure)in the Land of Patience

Oohiko, the unrivaled practitioner of ninjutsu Formed the village hidden in caves (Dokutsugakure) in the Land of Justice

Hikofutsu the bewitching mistress of flawless genjutsu Formed the village hidden among flowers (Hanagakure) in the Land of Kindness

The Current State of the world. The five major powers are the land of Courage (Orange), the land of Patience (Blue), The land of Wisdom (Green), the land of Justice (Yellow) and the land of Kindness (Pink) The Land of Harmony is depicted in red.


These five villages and the nations they inhabited grew to become the five major powers of this timeline. Smaller countries developed their own ninja villages but these were never as powerful as the original five. Although the five great heroes remained friendly even after splitting up, their descendants grew more distant with each generation as they began to prioritize the interests of their own people and countries.


Who Will Steer the Destiny of this New World?..
Fourteen years ago the most destructive war this world has seen came to an end. The great powers, all of whom were pulled into the conflict, are still recovering. However one minor power, the land of Harmony was able to stay neutral during the destructive war and slowly build up its strength while the major villages exhausted themselves. As a result this country and its hidden village, Gunshugakure (the village hidden among crowds) is on the cusp of becoming a major power in its own right. Recently the village has even come far enough to earn the right to host the next chunin exams, the first outside of the five major villages to do so. The chunin exams are six months away and although a class of new shinobi have only just graduated the Chowakage wants them ready to attempt the exams. If these fresh faced young genin can succeed, they will bring prestige and prosperity to their village, likely cementing its claim to being the sixth great power. If they fail the village will be a laughing stock and in the chunin exams their very lives may be at stake. A sixth great power would totally upset the current balance of power, it may not be apparent yet but the actions of these young children could have tremendous implications for the whole continent....

Welcome to Naruto Altered!
Hello there! Naruto Altered is a project I'm really looking forward to and hopefully by the time you've read down to here you will be as well. In short Naruto Altered is a detailed, alternate universe Naruto rp in the truest sense of the world. All new villages, all new history, all new threats and of course, most importantly of all: all new characters. That's where you guys come in.

What to expect from Naruto Altered

• An expansive, all new world to explore and add to by collaborating with GMs to create npcs and locations!

• Starting from the ground up as a fresh faced genin, build your character up using an in depth stat system! Earn points from completing missions or developing your character's personality and relationships!

• Forge new bonds and take your character through the stories YOU want to tell by creating and leading your own missions!

• Take part in an exciting story with your characters at the center!

Our expectations and Rules

• The RPN site rules are in effect: This is pretty obvious and everyone should be familiar with them but if you need a refresher Here is the link.

• The GM and any potential Co-Gm's are in charge: That would be me, KageYuuki InsaneAsylum and Orikanyo . We're always open to discussion, concern or just input but ultimately the decisions rests with us and we're going to be making the calls with the aim of keeping this RP as fun as possible for everyone.

• Remain respectful of your fellow RPers: Just be cool to each other, even if you have disagreements or find your personalities don't quite mesh do your best to remain civil. If you can't resolve any disputes to your mutual satisfaction I or another GM will step in.

• Let your voice be Heard: If you're not sure about something or just have a great idea for the RP let us know! We can't do anything about it if it stays in your head. You can post anything like that in the OOC but you're also free to PM me if you would rather speak privately, I'll do my best to stay on top of such correspondence.

• No Godmodding: Broadly speaking godmodding refers to controlling someone else's characters by writing their reactions or confirming attacks on them in your own post. This isn't very fun to deal with for the other person and not conducive to good roleplaying. Don't ever do it to another player without their permission and be careful about doing it to NPC's.

• Do your best in terms post length and quality: We are aiming for detailed with this RP, multiple paragraph responses with good spelling and grammar are ideal. We can be flexible about this to some extent, scenarios and situations just aren't conducive to long posts and sometimes people are tired or busy. The bare minimum is a paragraph or so that's been given a good once over for errors. Detailed responses give your RP partners more to work with and make you more fun to RP alongside so it's to everyone's benefit if we all do our best. If I feel like your responses lacking then I'll reach out and we can have a friendly chat about how to extend and improve your writing.

• Post Regularly or Stay in contact when you cant: You can read our Posting policy in detail here. But the short version is this: If you don't post when a scene is waiting on you after a week you will be skipped over, after two you will be removed from the RP. We can always make exceptions to this rule for people who talk to us and give us notice when they aren't able to post, but if we don't here from you that's the end of it.

• Follow the Character Creation guidelines: These are located in the character section, their intent is to help you create balanced, interesting characters that are fun to RP and walk you through our stat system, which can be a little bit confusing at first. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask us but make sure you read everything to make sure your question hasn't already been answered.

Grand Reopening! 2 or 5 slots available!
Hello, hello! Hopefully I'm speaking to some new faces! Naruto Altered is on the verge of completing our little event, that being our equivalents to the bell test in canon. With that in mind it feels like a great chance to open up and start recruiting again! We've had some people drop out for various reasons and we're really aiming to keep all of our teams full and balanced. As a new player you will have missed very little, you'll practically still be getting in on the ground floor of the plot but our player base has had some time to get to grips with the stats and other gameplay mechanics so you'll kind of be getting the best of both worlds or so I hope.

We have 2 slots open for sure in our existing teams and if we can get 3 more people on top of that to form a new team we'd like to do that as well. However if we don't get enough people to fill out the new team then we will only be looking to fill the two existing slots, so keep that in mind when applying. If we end up with too many applicants then I'll be putting together a waiting list, for people who would like to contacted in the future if another slot becomes available, though of course you're totally free to simply move on to other RPing opportunities.

Im interested in joining if a spot is still available. I do have a character from a old game that never really saw its full potential depending on what is permitted.
TLDR They were Genjutsu focused character with traps/ninja tools that eventually moved into a Butterfly Sage. They had a Bloodline ability that was from the filler, pretty much could make Genjutsu produce real injurys/effects.

Hiya! We still have slots open. Genjutsu / tools sounds interesting! However I'm familiar with the kg you're referring to and I gotta say I'm not a huuuge fan, I think it's sorta vaguely defined and potentially quite unbalanced.

So we could look at some other options but that kg specifically I'd prefer to avoid.

Hmm ok, then secondary option was to good for a Aburame type character instead of the KG one. Mixing it more into the Butterfly sage with Summoning/Dust effects to throw a person under with Genjutsus not from just chakra but also hallucigens of the Insects. (Reason that first image had glasses was due to being used in a game where the KG was not ok'd so Aburame was picked instead)

The game i used them in ended up a bit varied due to the system, using Fuinjutsu for traps, as well as a bow for ranged seal/jutsu activation. Kind of the Intelligence based fighter with their biggest asset being prep-time. Would likely mix the Genjutsu with actual damage correlating with the illusion to make it seem more real. The Injurys being from the traps though seeming to be from the illusion that hid them away,

(Used them in a few games actually, in one they ended up defecting during the Chuinin exam arc. Shame the game ended before that could be seen through)

Alrighty something along those lines sounds workable. Take a look at the pages and stuff, particularly the mechanics and rules. One thing that may be relevant is that in our system lots of rare or specialist techniques, such as kgs, hidens fall under specializations, fuuinjitsu is a specialization as well.

You can only have two of those max (1 to start) and they cost attribute points.
