Howdy. I'm Sabine, as you have most likely guessed. Other than that I'm an archaeology major with a lot of free time until the end of August and a decent amount afterward, who usually send out a reply most days of the week. Other than that, well, I don't think I need to bore you with my life story.
Anyway, no specific rules or limits other than what's on the site, except no characters under eighteen. Gets a little creepy for me, sorry. As for how this whole thing works, I'll be posting my characters below, with bullet points describing specific pairings beneath them; every one of those will include an optional source of conflict because without conflict to overcome we don't really have a whole lot to do. We don't necessarily have to include it, but I will most likely get bored if there's zero conflict. Oh, and I'm going to utilize the cheezy system to show pairings that will make me your best friend for choosing. If you like a character but want to take the RP in an entirely different direction, I'll probably be up for that. Once you figure out what you want to do, send me a PM telling me what to call you and what your interest/s is/are. Or you could post here, but then I'll just PM you instead. But now I'm rambling, so, onwards!
Ymber Aquila
Female, straight, 21-35, Paladin, Medieval
Wielder of Valkyrian, a sword with the power to save a person from death (though at an extremely high cost), Ymber sees it as her god-given duty to use the sword to do good in the world. She is an expert swordswoman, though crippled by her reluctance to cause any real harm, but other than combat has few useful skills. She typically devotes herself completely to her causes, going after everything with headstrong abandon and refusing to say die, but is not particularly romantic or experienced in love.
Ravenna Silvertongue
Female, bisexual, ~24, Witch, Pre-Medieval to Renaissance
A white witch of an ancient line, Ravenna usually owns an inn that has been in her family for generations, one on a crossroads that may be between the mortal and fae realms. She is barely literate but very skilled with potions and charms, and a competent healer besides. Keeping her witchcraft secret has made her withdrawn and a bit aloof, but she is a warm and kind soul who never turns away someone in need.
Viortu DawnRobin
Female, bisexual, young adult, Orc Shaman, prehistory to roughly medieval
An Orc from a proud and ancient lineage of shamans, Viortu is quite skilled in her people's brand of magic, but feels a wanderlust that settling down and tending to the needs of a village just won't satisfy. She's very curious, especially about foreign cultures, and falls in and out of love easily and fiercely.
Juliana Arranar
Female, straight, ~22, Patrician, Classical
After her parents' untimely demise, Juliana finds herself the head of the house Arranar, one of the ancient founding houses of Astrophanium. In spite of their roots they are all but impoverished; with bankruptcy looming and seven younger siblings to care for Juliana is at her wits' end. She is clever and ambitious, but can be hot-headed and petty at times, and in spite of caring deeply for her siblings and the rest of her househod she tries her best o convince herself that she is just as aloof and cold-hearted as the other Patricians.
Maeve
Female, straight, ~28, Ranger, medieval
An orphan left at the doorstep to the Ranger wing, Maeve was raised in the castle and received an excellent education, as well as training in Ranger skills. It was no small wonder that, when she became old enough, she joined up and quickly rose through the ranks, her ambition and natural skill earning her the title of Commander at twenty-seven. She is a very driven young woman, loyal to a fault, with a clear sense of right and wrong and no hesitation. Though she is headstrong and sometimes abrasive, for those she loves she would sacrifice anything.

- x prince/king/priest/someone in authority
Sworn to serve him as a liege lord, she finds herself becoming increasingly attracted to her charge, but knows that any sort of relationship would be completely inappropriate and wrong. Maybe she's pretending to be a man, depending on how accepting the culture is of woman-warriors. Conflict comes in when their relationship gets in the way of their duties.
- x fellow knight/squire
On an assignment together, the two stat to experience some mutual attraction and, in the face of danger, lean on each other for comfort. However, obviously relationships of this sort put them in some danger, and it will likely have to be broken off once they finish.
- x enemy captor
Captured by the enemy on one of her assignments, Ymber finds herself growing closer to one of her captors, whether as an intentional ploy or just a twist of fate. And, while her own neck is on the line, she can't help but be concerned for his if they are found out. The future is uncertain, but they are determined to spend at least a few days of it together. Maybe they learn a bit about each others' causes, try to find some sort of peace or middle ground? Role-reversal where she is the captor is also an option.
- x a townsperson
Living near her inn, this person and Ravenna have known each other for a while and have felt their attraction grow in recent months. With the death of her mother and departure of her sisters, Ravenna is ready to be married and become an innkeep full-time, but the secret of her witchcraft may prove a barrier. Your character might have a secret of his/her own that could prove quite an issue.
- x an inquisitor
Send in to investigate reports of witchcraft, the interrogator knows that there's something with Ravenna but as s/he investigates further, s/he starts to feel an attraction to the young woman and when the time comes to gather the evidence and punish her, will s/he be able to go through with it?
- x someone in need of help
Desperate to enlist the supernatural against his/her problems, your character comes in to ask Ravenna's aid (or summons her somewhere else) but finds that his/her interest runs a little deeper. However, those problems haven't entirely gone away, and might get in the way of them being a happy couple.
- x a Fae in the mortal world
For whatever reason, your character is in some serious danger in the Fae realm. For whatever reason, s/he flees to the mortals, where the first place s/he sees is the inn. Ravenna knows what s/he is, but out of kindness agrees to help him/her get better at passing for a mortal before s/he leaves. But, as they get to know each other, s/he might not want to leave... yet staying is certain death, so close to the Fae realm.
- x a foreigner
The Orcish continent has historically been isolated, but that's going to change when your character's culture lands on is shores. Whatever they're there for, the Orcs are skeptical about sharing their lands and send Viortu in to determine whether they're worth allowing to stay or not. Though she knows that she should be impartial and try to judge them fairly, she finds herself attracted to your character and eager to defend them. Alternately, your character seeks refuge in the Orc lands and she is assigned to teach him/her their ways so that they can become a true member of society. Of course, things are never that simple.
- x a mercenary
Seeking adventure overseas, Viortu travels to a war-torn foreign continent, where she meets a dashing young mercenary captain. Convinced to join him/her, the two of them quickly prove to work together well both on and off the battefield and start up a fierce romance. But the life of a mercenary is fraught with danger, and Orcs aren't exactly welcomed on this side of the world.
- x a warlord
Courtship, among Orcs, is a rather rough and bloody affair. To prove that he is strong enough to lead his warriors, your character captures Viortu as a show of power and tries to make her his wife. However, she's going to require a bit more than that before she consents to stay with him, and tries to escape at every opportunity- until he is wounded in battle. Now that she finally has the chance to run off, she finds that in spite of herself he's managed to win her over so she stays and nurses him back to health, though she fully intends to get back at him for her captivity.
- a gladiator
In the hopes of earning back some money as well as glory, Juliana brings in a foreign slave to perform in the coliseum as a gladiator. However, the more she gets to know him the harder it becomes for her to send him out into the arena, though she suspects he is manipulating her she cannot bring herself to break it off. Yet, regardless of whether or not he's being genuine, what kind of relationship can they have with their social standings?
- a wealthy merchant
He wants his family to have greater social standing, she wants his money. It's just business... or is it? Neither one of them thinks that their marriage will ever really mean anything, but in spite of it there's a growing attraction. One that very well might be cut short, with political unrest and slave revolts rocking the country almost by the day.
- the Emperor
She has the old family name, the elegant appearance, the education, the honor... everything except the money, to make her the perfect Empress. This wouldn't be a problem, except the royal coffers are just as empty as hers. In spite of that, they're deeply and truly in love... but do they dare wed, with the country on the brink of collapse? And, if they do, what will the other, wealthier families have to say about it?
- x the king
Near the same age, the king and Maeve were fast friends as children, getting into all kinds of trouble. As they aged and started to take on more responsibilities they drifted apart, but now fate finds them working closely together to face a terrible threat. Desperate to overcome it, they acquire ancient magics that promise them the destruction of their enemies. It works, and in their joy and power they become lovers. However, it comes at a terrible price. The more monstrous the magic they use, the more monstrous they become, until they can no longer hide the physical effects. But to quit now, before the threat is entirely destroyed, would be to undo all their good work, so they press forward, praying that they will be able to go back once they have finished.
- x an enemy interrogator
It's very rare to capture a Ranger, especially a live one. The enemy knows better than to waste the opportunity, so they send in their best to break her. However, she proves a great deal harder than he had thought, and he finds himself admiring her resolve. Then he lets his guard down and she takes him hostage, escaping into the wilderness. Their survival out there quickly becomes an issue, but it doesn't seem likely they'll be able to trust each other enough to work together... does it?
