Mostly non-realistic, mostly with vague plot ideas, kinda hard to describe

Lady Sabine

Member
Howdy. I'm Sabine, as you have most likely guessed. Other than that I'm an archaeology major with a lot of free time until the end of August and a decent amount afterward, who usually send out a reply most days of the week. Other than that, well, I don't think I need to bore you with my life story.

Anyway, no specific rules or limits other than what's on the site, except no characters under eighteen. Gets a little creepy for me, sorry. As for how this whole thing works, I'll be posting my characters below, with bullet points describing specific pairings beneath them; every one of those will include an optional source of conflict because without conflict to overcome we don't really have a whole lot to do. We don't necessarily have to include it, but I will most likely get bored if there's zero conflict. Oh, and I'm going to utilize the cheezy <3 system to show pairings that will make me your best friend for choosing. If you like a character but want to take the RP in an entirely different direction, I'll probably be up for that. Once you figure out what you want to do, send me a PM telling me what to call you and what your interest/s is/are. Or you could post here, but then I'll just PM you instead. But now I'm rambling, so, onwards!

Ymber Aquila

Female, straight, 21-35, Paladin, Medieval

Wielder of Valkyrian, a sword with the power to save a person from death (though at an extremely high cost), Ymber sees it as her god-given duty to use the sword to do good in the world. She is an expert swordswoman, though crippled by her reluctance to cause any real harm, but other than combat has few useful skills. She typically devotes herself completely to her causes, going after everything with headstrong abandon and refusing to say die, but is not particularly romantic or experienced in love.

  • x prince/king/priest/someone in authority
Sworn to serve him as a liege lord, she finds herself becoming increasingly attracted to her charge, but knows that any sort of relationship would be completely inappropriate and wrong. Maybe she's pretending to be a man, depending on how accepting the culture is of woman-warriors. Conflict comes in when their relationship gets in the way of their duties.
  • x fellow knight/squire
On an assignment together, the two stat to experience some mutual attraction and, in the face of danger, lean on each other for comfort. However, obviously relationships of this sort put them in some danger, and it will likely have to be broken off once they finish.
  • x enemy captor
Captured by the enemy on one of her assignments, Ymber finds herself growing closer to one of her captors, whether as an intentional ploy or just a twist of fate. And, while her own neck is on the line, she can't help but be concerned for his if they are found out. The future is uncertain, but they are determined to spend at least a few days of it together. Maybe they learn a bit about each others' causes, try to find some sort of peace or middle ground? Role-reversal where she is the captor is also an option.

Ravenna Silvertongue

Female, bisexual, ~24, Witch, Pre-Medieval to Renaissance

A white witch of an ancient line, Ravenna usually owns an inn that has been in her family for generations, one on a crossroads that may be between the mortal and fae realms. She is barely literate but very skilled with potions and charms, and a competent healer besides. Keeping her witchcraft secret has made her withdrawn and a bit aloof, but she is a warm and kind soul who never turns away someone in need.

  • x a townsperson
Living near her inn, this person and Ravenna have known each other for a while and have felt their attraction grow in recent months. With the death of her mother and departure of her sisters, Ravenna is ready to be married and become an innkeep full-time, but the secret of her witchcraft may prove a barrier. Your character might have a secret of his/her own that could prove quite an issue.
  • x an inquisitor <3
Send in to investigate reports of witchcraft, the interrogator knows that there's something with Ravenna but as s/he investigates further, s/he starts to feel an attraction to the young woman and when the time comes to gather the evidence and punish her, will s/he be able to go through with it?
  • x someone in need of help
Desperate to enlist the supernatural against his/her problems, your character comes in to ask Ravenna's aid (or summons her somewhere else) but finds that his/her interest runs a little deeper. However, those problems haven't entirely gone away, and might get in the way of them being a happy couple.
  • x a Fae in the mortal world
For whatever reason, your character is in some serious danger in the Fae realm. For whatever reason, s/he flees to the mortals, where the first place s/he sees is the inn. Ravenna knows what s/he is, but out of kindness agrees to help him/her get better at passing for a mortal before s/he leaves. But, as they get to know each other, s/he might not want to leave... yet staying is certain death, so close to the Fae realm.

Viortu DawnRobin

Female, bisexual, young adult, Orc Shaman, prehistory to roughly medieval

An Orc from a proud and ancient lineage of shamans, Viortu is quite skilled in her people's brand of magic, but feels a wanderlust that settling down and tending to the needs of a village just won't satisfy. She's very curious, especially about foreign cultures, and falls in and out of love easily and fiercely.

  • x a foreigner
The Orcish continent has historically been isolated, but that's going to change when your character's culture lands on is shores. Whatever they're there for, the Orcs are skeptical about sharing their lands and send Viortu in to determine whether they're worth allowing to stay or not. Though she knows that she should be impartial and try to judge them fairly, she finds herself attracted to your character and eager to defend them. Alternately, your character seeks refuge in the Orc lands and she is assigned to teach him/her their ways so that they can become a true member of society. Of course, things are never that simple.
  • x a mercenary
Seeking adventure overseas, Viortu travels to a war-torn foreign continent, where she meets a dashing young mercenary captain. Convinced to join him/her, the two of them quickly prove to work together well both on and off the battefield and start up a fierce romance. But the life of a mercenary is fraught with danger, and Orcs aren't exactly welcomed on this side of the world.
  • x a warlord
Courtship, among Orcs, is a rather rough and bloody affair. To prove that he is strong enough to lead his warriors, your character captures Viortu as a show of power and tries to make her his wife. However, she's going to require a bit more than that before she consents to stay with him, and tries to escape at every opportunity- until he is wounded in battle. Now that she finally has the chance to run off, she finds that in spite of herself he's managed to win her over so she stays and nurses him back to health, though she fully intends to get back at him for her captivity.

Juliana Arranar

Female, straight, ~22, Patrician, Classical

After her parents' untimely demise, Juliana finds herself the head of the house Arranar, one of the ancient founding houses of Astrophanium. In spite of their roots they are all but impoverished; with bankruptcy looming and seven younger siblings to care for Juliana is at her wits' end. She is clever and ambitious, but can be hot-headed and petty at times, and in spite of caring deeply for her siblings and the rest of her househod she tries her best o convince herself that she is just as aloof and cold-hearted as the other Patricians.

  • a gladiator
In the hopes of earning back some money as well as glory, Juliana brings in a foreign slave to perform in the coliseum as a gladiator. However, the more she gets to know him the harder it becomes for her to send him out into the arena, though she suspects he is manipulating her she cannot bring herself to break it off. Yet, regardless of whether or not he's being genuine, what kind of relationship can they have with their social standings?
  • a wealthy merchant
He wants his family to have greater social standing, she wants his money. It's just business... or is it? Neither one of them thinks that their marriage will ever really mean anything, but in spite of it there's a growing attraction. One that very well might be cut short, with political unrest and slave revolts rocking the country almost by the day.
  • the Emperor
She has the old family name, the elegant appearance, the education, the honor... everything except the money, to make her the perfect Empress. This wouldn't be a problem, except the royal coffers are just as empty as hers. In spite of that, they're deeply and truly in love... but do they dare wed, with the country on the brink of collapse? And, if they do, what will the other, wealthier families have to say about it?

Maeve

Female, straight, ~28, Ranger, medieval

An orphan left at the doorstep to the Ranger wing, Maeve was raised in the castle and received an excellent education, as well as training in Ranger skills. It was no small wonder that, when she became old enough, she joined up and quickly rose through the ranks, her ambition and natural skill earning her the title of Commander at twenty-seven. She is a very driven young woman, loyal to a fault, with a clear sense of right and wrong and no hesitation. Though she is headstrong and sometimes abrasive, for those she loves she would sacrifice anything.

  • x the king <3
Near the same age, the king and Maeve were fast friends as children, getting into all kinds of trouble. As they aged and started to take on more responsibilities they drifted apart, but now fate finds them working closely together to face a terrible threat. Desperate to overcome it, they acquire ancient magics that promise them the destruction of their enemies. It works, and in their joy and power they become lovers. However, it comes at a terrible price. The more monstrous the magic they use, the more monstrous they become, until they can no longer hide the physical effects. But to quit now, before the threat is entirely destroyed, would be to undo all their good work, so they press forward, praying that they will be able to go back once they have finished.
  • x an enemy interrogator
It's very rare to capture a Ranger, especially a live one. The enemy knows better than to waste the opportunity, so they send in their best to break her. However, she proves a great deal harder than he had thought, and he finds himself admiring her resolve. Then he lets his guard down and she takes him hostage, escaping into the wilderness. Their survival out there quickly becomes an issue, but it doesn't seem likely they'll be able to trust each other enough to work together... does it?

Just realized I didn't mention in my first post; I'm usually up for doubling. More characters means more fun. Speaking of which, here's another.

Edorah au Navrin

Female, straight, 16(breaking my own rule here; my rules are really more a loose set of guidelines)-20, Princess, Classical-Medieval-Steampunk

A brilliant mind in a delicate body, Edorah is known as the Porcelain Doll Princess of the island-nation of Navrin. Not quite five feet tall with cherubic features and ringlet curls, she is desperately shy and well aware of just how out of place she seems in the tall, elegant Navric court. As a result, she spends most of her time locked away in her study, her logical mind unlocking the secrets of geometry and physics far easier than conversation and friendship. Her passions are architecture and engineering; while other girls plan weddings and choose baby names, she designs ships and castles and names them from ancient mythology.

  • x an arranged royal suitor
A woman grown, it is now Edorah's turn to leave her childhood home and forge diplomatic ties with a mainland country. Her father has been upselling her greatly, boasting of her beauty and intelligence, and secured a hefty bride-price from a nation eager not only for her person, but for a profitable trade agreement using Navrin's sizeable merchant marine. However, those promises are not exactly indicative of reality, and Edorah was awkward at best when she was in a familiar culture- here in a whole new place, with new rules to learn and friends to make, she's in quite over her head. With a push in the right direction she might become a brilliant, charismatic queen... or a miserable failure. This is not necessarily a romantic pairing; it can be almost as much fun to have them be friends/enemies forced to work together in a marriage they aren't vested in.
  • x an enemy emperor <3
Navrin's navy was the best in the world. Was, until he captured it. The Emperor is an ambitious man, driven by some important reason (prophecy? Fear of being overthrown? Just regular old greed?) to take over the better half of the world, starting with Navrin and her Navy. And who better to sit by his side and bear his heir than the princess of that nation? She comes from an ancient and noble line, and their wedding will help to legitimize his conquest before he moves on to other, bigger prizes. Caught between the urge to wreak revenge on him and help her country by working with him, Edorah finds herself needing to grow stronger in a hurry, if she wants to survive this new and dangerous world.
  • x the pirate lord
For years, the Navy has been stymied by the pirate fleet. Appearing and disappearing like mirages, they have been looting the seas and defeating the navy in battle after battle, all lead by a mysterious and powerful lord. However, the tide is turned against him at a decisive battle and his fleet splinters, forcing him to do something drastic to retain the devotion of his allegiant captains. Something like kidnapping the princess and making her his bride, to prove his skill and daring. However, the flip side of that is now he's stuck with her, and neither one of them have the first clue what to do with each other. But over time, he starts to teach her how to be more bold and forceful, to speak up for herself and take risks, while she shows him the softer side of the world and tames some of his bloodlust. Somewhat in the manner of Beauty and the Beast, but with a darker tone.

Adding on...

Fletcher Milo Daire

Male, bisexual, ~24, Highwayman, Medieval

Fletch has a touch of Fae somewhere in his family tree, and more than a touch of scoundrel. He's excellent at getting into trouble and perhaps slightly better at getting out of it, floating though life mostly on charm and luck with few useful skills. In spite of it he's doing decently for himself, and getting a reputation as a gentleman thief for a series of daring daylight robberies on the Kingsroad. Of course, everyone's luck must eventually come to an end...

  • x a princess/noble lady
It's not really his normal deal, but the amount of money he was offered for the abduction made it impossible to pass up. After charming his way into the palace, he drugs the girl and rides off with her to the frontier, where it will be a good two weeks of hard riding before they make it to the drop-off point. But, of course, things go wrong. Winter is still a month away, but the first storm catches them off guard and the horse breaks a leg, forcing them to seek shelter in a hunter's cabin. It has a meager amount of food and seems snug enough, but even if there are resources for the both of them, they'll probably feel like killing each other before spring breaks, trapped in that lonely cabin... or will they?
  • x a knight
Finally captured by the law, Fletcher knows that his head may very well be rolling if he doesn't do something quickly. Fortunately for him, he ran with a group of bandits a few years back, and knows the way to their safehouse. Unfortunately for him, his escort isn't entirely thrilled about the trade, and doubts that it's worth letting him go. And Fletcher has every reason to run off... and yet, as much as they bicker and glare across the campfire, neither can deny that there's some chemistry just under the surface.
  • x a cat burglar
Riding through the streets one night, Fletcher catches sight of the cat burglar sprinting through the alleys, pursued by the city watch. He offers her his hand and away they ride, into the night. Once they reach safety and she safely dismounts, he takes the bag of loot as the cost of rescue and rides off laughing. Of course, turnabout's fair play, and a few days later he wakes up tied to his bed, money and valuables missing. This back-and-forth could go on for a while... unless they actually need each other again, with the city watch catching word of their hijinks and moving in.

A few other ideas; my character listed first.

  • Lady of Thieves x Captain of City Watch
Our characters were close friends and neighbors as children, both of their fathers proud members of the City Watch. But that was before the Pestilence hit, and both fathers were killed in the ensuing riots. Their lives took drastically different turns, and now they're on opposite sides of the law... but they're both looking to make life better for the people of the city, and that has to count for something. And friendship, surely, will count for something when she's arrested and sure to be executed without her old friend's help.
  • Dancer x Soldier
The advent of steam-powered air travel enabled the conquest of Kyem, a tropical island rich in spices and gold, by the wealthier continental nation of Megarre. Of course, the new industries required a steady source of labor, and after subduing local resistance the natives were enslaved, in accordance with the colonialist ideologies and, ostensibly, as a means of "civilizing the savages". The soldier is a young man, relatively sheltered, who had never left Megarre before being assigned to Kyem. As part of his welcoming gift, a dancer is hired by his officers to entertain him after the hard partying draws to a close. Though he drinks too much and spend the entire night violently sick, she takes pity on him and helps him through it, chatting about everything and nothing as he sobers up and recovers. To their shock, their lives were not so very different before the conquest, and he starts to question whether the "savages" are just so different after all. Of course, they aren't going to get a happy ending that easily. One of the officers takes a liking to her as well, and before they have a chance to take their relationship any further the officer buys her. Not 100% on the details of this as it's a pretty new plot, but I'd like to work with it.
  • Mage x King
Your character is the true heir to the throne of Lluvian; everyone knows it. Problem is, the usurper is a powerful mage, and it takes a powerful mage to get rid of him. That powerful mage comes in the form of Caeca Luma, an ex-protege and rebel sympathizer, who joins up with Zephaniah. Their victory could be easily anticipated... the fierce battlefield romance that they share, less so. But after they win, things aren't going to go so smoothly. She's hardly the queen the country needs, and public opinion doesn't have much nice to say about mages in general. And now that their war is gone, who's to say that the romance will last? None of that would be half so much a problem if she wasn't carrying his child. Not necessarily a romantic pairing; could be just as much fun as a political drama where the romance is dead but they still have to rebuild the country.
