Vampire Lore
:Language & Species:

Language:
The universal language for all vampires is known is Eros. The language Eros was designed, and named after, Eros Vro. Eros Vro was a 'prototype' vampire, and was a scholar/educator. He invented the language Eros for the sole purpose of disguising a conversation between vampires, maintaining the secrecy of vampires in the event that humans are present or near. While not used and understood by the majority population of vampire—now a days—there are some who prefer to continue to implicate it in their lives. Furthermore, Eros used to be a significant way to name and identify vampire children. But since the language is all but dead now, vampire children now carry human-like names. (If you'd like for your character to know the Eros language, and speak it, you can! Just make up some words, lol. Do keep in mind though, if a word has been pre-established, you must use that word. So, for example, let's say that someone has established that "Yes" in Eros is "Och". You must use Och if you intend on saying yes in Eros.)

Species: (remember: you can make your own vampire species, but you must PM me about it, and we'll discuss your idea)
(SIDE NOTE: all vampires can die if they haven't consumed at least a pint of blood in a week)
> Vishanti: The Vishanti were the first species of vampire to exist. They have a pale complexion and are quite human-like. Evolved from their predecessors, the Vishanti were the species who had spear-headed the beginning of the vampire government—the Vishanti Council. Any member of the Vishanti species is highly evolved, being able to withstand the power of the sun. The only way to kill a Vishanti is by removing its head and setting fire to both its body and head, or depriving him/her of consuming blood. However, that may be a challenge. Afterall, the Vishanti are incredibly strong, fast, and agile, and they can heal quickly. Not only that, but, they have a genetic connection to the Dark Arts and are equipped with a random power [a power of your choice, if you choose the Vishanti]. Despite the name Vishanti being in one of the factions, the Vishanti species are often torn between the two factions/covens at war. The wise Vishanti often associate themselves with The Resistance, while the powerful aristocrat Vishanti associate themselves with the Vishanti Council.

> Dhampir: The Dhampir is a hybrid species between a human and vampire, with the father being the vampire nine times out of ten. Their skin color can range from a peach color to a lighter tone, or even pale, but they are an attractive species. Like the Vishanti, Dhampirs have an enhanced physiology, with a healing factor—although it's not fast—not to the degree of the Vishanti, however. Their notable ability is the power to influence emotions unto others. A minor setback to the Dhampir, however, is that they have an accelerated aging process. A Dhampir can die like a normal human, so caution is advised. These types of vampires are often allied with The Resistance.
> Skaal: A feral, newborn vampire. If a human is bitten by a vampire, there is a chance that the human will become a Skaal, when undergoing the transformation process. They have no remaining humanity and are unaware of the reality around them. The Vishanti use these vampires as a savage tool in battle and torture. While Skaals carry no special powers, they do have an enhanced physiology. Appearance-wise, Skaals are thin, pale, and constantly hunched over. Their thirst for blood is unquenchable, and they can be killed in three ways. Firstly, a stake to the heart will drop a Skaal instantly. Second, decapitating them is another way in which a Skaal can be killed on the spot. Lastly, setting them ablaze will cause a slow, painful death, but they can be revived by feeding them the blood of a sacrificial being. Skaals are claimed to be the pest of the vampire world. These vampires are allied with the Vishanti Council.
> Ekon: The stereotypical enthralling, aristocratic, seductive vampires. These vampires, like every other species, have an enhanced physiology. In addition to that, they are masters of hypnosis and illusions. The Ekon are always deceptive, and can backstab you at any moment, so watch your back. These vampires are cunning, clever, and wildly intelligent. Ironically, these vampires can shapeshift into creatures, such as a black panther or crow. Their appearance is similar, if not the same, as the Vishanti. During the awakening of the Vishanti Council, this was the second species of vampire to exist. To kill an Ekon, you must stab a stake through his/her heart or decapitate them and set them ablaze. You could also throw them in the sunlight, but the deadly effects won't set in for at least an hour. Often, Ekons ally themselves with the Vishanti Council.
> Nemrod: Nemrod, meaning "hunter" in Eros, is exactly what it translates as. A Nemrod isn't necessarily based upon vampiric genes, but rather a lifestyle that one commits to. A Nemrod is a type of vampire who is so disgusted with being one, that they hunt down and kill other vampires as a scapegoat. This type of vampire is well-attuned with their instincts and senses. Their senses are beyond that of most vampires and are extremely fast & agile. They still retain their enhanced strength and what not, but speed is in their favor. To kill a Nemrod, you can either decapitate them or put a silver bullet in the heart or brain. Nemrods have a skin tone range between tan and light grey; often, their hair color is dark. Nemrods often ally themselves with The Resistance, despite their hate for vampires.
> Vulkod: Snarling and savage, Vulkods are the muscle of the vampire world. What they progress in strength and dexterity, they lack in speed and flexibility. Their special ability relies heavily on telepathy. They can read the minds of others, as well as communicate with them. Hulking, huge, and intimidating, a Vulkod should be taken seriously when engaging in a one on one. If able to, run from the fight. Vulkods have been known to literally rip their foes in-half, and without breaking a sweat. Their appearance is the broadest of the entire vampire race. They can look like a normal human or they can be big, bulky, pale, and terrifying. To kill a Vulkod you can chop off its head and set it on fire or stab its heart with energy from the Dark Dimension, as it is incredibly weak to magic. One key aspect to the Vulkod is their intriguing ability to roar. Unlike most of the other vampires, who hiss, Vulkods can produce a thunderous roar, making them ten times scarier.
> Ashagi: Ashagi. "Conjurer". The Ashagi are vampires who are strongly connected to the Dark Dimension. These vampires are masters of magic, and are able to conjure spells at their discretion. They are able to perform atmokinesis and necromancy. Their knowledge of the Dark Arts is extensive and well-studied. Appearance-wise, the Ashagi are tall, lanky, and pale. Their hair can be either platinum blonde or a dark color. Killing an Ashagi requires knowledge of the Dark Arts, as you must impale them with energy drawn from the Dark Dimension. A much simpler way to kill them, however, includes draining them of all their blood. But even then that's still difficult. The Ashagi, like the Ashanti, are torn when it comes to the war. Some choose to fight for The Resistance, others choose to stand with the Vishanti Council.
> Vogmith: A breed of catastrophe to put it delicately, the Vogmith is a force to be reckoned with. When battling a Vogmith, be sure to not be alone, or else your death will be guaranteed. The story behind this vampire comes from way back in 1452, when the Vishanti Council tried to accelerate the process in which Vampires evolve. They experimented on countless subjects with the Dark Arts and blood rituals. Endless amounts of chaos raged upon the Earth, as it was a sign for the Vishanti Council to stop what they were doing. But they didn't. Finally, in 1506, they perfected the ritual unknowingly. A child, unaware of what was happening, scared, betrayed, and unwilling, was the first successful Vogmith to be made. Through this ritual, the Council's Ashagi vampires had literally transferred a demon entity into a living being. A mere child. Through time studying the child, it was revealed that the Vogmith had a wide range of abilities. Naturally, they had knowledge of the Dark Arts. They were by far stronger, faster, more-attuned with their senses, more agile, more durable, and could excessively strain themselves without breaking a sweat. They could heal rapidly from injury, they could scale walls and hypnotize the weak-minded. But most of all, they were a monster. Now, with all this power, there has to be some repercussion, right? You'd be correct. Fire, an obvious remedy, will singe and blister the Vogmith's skin, but will not kill it. Digesting mistletoe will poison the Vogmith, eventually killing it if necessary action is not taken. Silver will disorient and abrupt the Vogmith's senses, and great amounts can weaken them even more. The sun, while being an obvious choice, will kill the Vogmith, but not right away. It would take days before the UV light even pierces the Vogmith's skin. And finally, decapitation. This acts as an insta-kill, but is harder to do then it sounds. Recommended by the Council, it was determined that if the Vogmith got out of hand, they'd poison it with mistletoe, as it reduced the amounts of possible casualties and was fairly easy to do. (sorry to say, but this one is off limits . . . . . . . for now)
> Svivryn: A strictly female breed of vampire. This specific vampire species are deadly and just as terrifying as a Vulkod. They specialize in controlling the flow of blood and being able to control pre-established fire. Plus, the Svivryn are able to manifest large wings, used for flying. To kill a Svivryn, one must decapitate them and then destroy the head—which is opposite to most vampire species, where you would have to destroy the body instead. Pale with dark hair, but incredibly beautiful, the Svivryn act as another charming vampire species. The Svivryn are bound to serve the Vishanti Council by a curse placed on the species in the late 1800s.

:Stages and Ranks:
Stages:
> Newborns - These are vampires who have recently been turned. Their bloodlust is unsatiable and their senses are at an all time high, as everything adjusts to the new sensitivity. Generally speaking, a Newborn progresses to the next stage after a year or so. When a Newborn, you are trained to harness your abilities and control your appetite for the crimson liquid.
> Fledgling - A Fledgling is practically an adolescent vampire. Their training advances slightly, and they learn more on how to properly feed. A Fledgling will remain a Fledgling for fifty years or so.
> Ascendant - Ascendants are mature vampires. This is the most common stage in the vampire world. At this stage, a vampire 'graduates' from his/her training and officially begins to become independent. Ascendants are anywhere from the age of fifty to two-hundred years old.
> Elder - Elder vampires are vampires over the age of 200, but under the age of 1,500. Elders are much more powerful than others, and each coven contains at least one elder. Elders are hard to slay, as their power tops over most, but that doesn't make them invincible.
> Ancient - Ancients are the most powerful vampires. These are the vampires who have lived for centuries and have accumulated a vast understanding of the vampiric world. There are only a few ancients in the world, currently. These vampires are aged from 1,500+.
> Master Vampire: Also known as "The All-Father", this stage is reserved specifically for Gaius Julius Caesar, or Caligula.

Ranks: (from lowest to highest)
In the world of vampires, the color of your [vampire] eyes holds an important part. You see, based upon what your eye color is, signifies what rank you hold in the vampiric society. Below are details concerning ranks . . .

Blue
If a vampire has blue eyes, they are held at the lowest standard in society (this is if you follow Vishanti law though). You get very little from the Vihsanti council, if allied to them, and you are regarded as a 'pet' to most. It has been declared that any blue-eyed vampire shall be banned from participating/contributing to the Vishanti Council. This certainly isn't where you'd expect to find respect. Majority of the The Resistance members have blue eyes.

Yellow/Orange
When a vampire has yellow or orange eyes, then they are treated better than blue-eyed vampires. They earn double the amount of food sources and are able to contribute to the Council in some way. While holding a higher social class then blue-eyed vampires, vampires with yellow/orange eyes still have a difficult time earning respect amongst the population. Vampires with yellow/orange eyes are the second highest contributors to The Resistance cause.

Red
Red-eyed vampires indicates that they are a part of a royal lineage or hold some sort of importance. This is also where most your aristocratic vampires will come in, having been privileged for so long. Red-eyed vampires are often seen holding some major positions in the Vishanti Council, but aren't directly seated on it. Vampires with red eyes are the third largest contributor to The Resistance.

Purple
In the world of vampires, purple eyes represents that you are above most and hold great power over them. Most of the Vishanti politicians, and one of Vishanti Council members, has purple eyes. These vampires are royal themselves and are bound loosely to the set laws. There is one vampire with purple eyes who is allied to The Resistance.

Black
The only known vampires to have black eyes are Ancients. Some theorize that it is the only way to achieve black eyes, while others are just dumbfounded by it. Two of the three Vishanti Council members have black eyes, and only a handful overall of black eyes. There are no black-eyed Resistance supporters.

How to become a Vampire?
There are two ways for a vampire to come into existence. The first is through a bite. When a vampire bites into a human, they're able to inject a sort of enzyme toxin—different from the one that is injected when feeding—that attacks the human immune system. if the toxin is left in the human body for longer than eight hours, then they'll begin the first phase of transforming into a vampire, that is, if they even survive the bite.

The second way is through reproduction. A vampire can mate with either a human (which breeds a Dhampir) or another vampire (which can breed a hybrid if the two vampires are of a different species). The odds of the mother surviving the pregnancy are 1 in 500,000 though, so it isn't necessarily the preferred way of creating a vampire.

Diet
Obviously, vampires have a desire to consume blood. This limits them to either human or animal blood, which doesn't have any real side effects. Compared to drinking Human blood, vampires find themselves to be a tad stronger when drinking it. Other than that though, animal blood still satiates their hunger for blood, and reduces their strength by a small portion.

:The Vishanti Council:
Formed in 1450 by Eros Vro, Pl'lick Uck, and Rehf Zuul, the Vishanti Council was an order that was designed to keep the secrets about the vampire world hidden from mankind. It offered freedom, equality, and liberty for those [vampires] looking for it. That soon changed, however—within a year. Two Vishanti vampires had raided the Council's temple and slaughtered them, assuming control between the two. From there, they raged war on local human civilizations for thirty years. It was until then, that they had attempted to recruit a third council member, Matteo Vasari. It was from that point on did the 'Council' try to ruin Matteo's life, after his rejection of their offer. They plotted and conspired against him, making it a living hell for him. In the year 1506, Matteo would eventually join them for private reasons. Only a year following that, the Council members had assumed nicknames, all relating to Supremacy. And for centuries, the Council would set laws, rules, regulations, and enforce them, dictate the resources, and take total control over lives.

The Council is comprised of three members, each of which have five advisors. After that comes each Council members' five guards, whom are preferred to be Ashagi or Vulkod.

The Resistance

The Resistance is an underground rebellion created by Altair Ibn-Ahad and two other vampires who had decided to rebel against the Vishanti rule. It was formed in 1599 and from then, The Resistance has battled against the Vishanti Council's forces. Of course, The Resistance has been outnumbered, and would lost most of their battles in the beginning. But numbers began to rise when the Vishanti Council had enacted a law stating that anyone who knew, or was associated, with known members of The Resistance shall be executed. This also included any human that had come into contact with those members. This contradicted a previous established law though, which stated that no intentional harm could come to humans. Now a hypocritical order, the Vishanti began to lose their own citizens to The Resistance.

Angry by the betrayal of their own citizens, the Vishanti had begun executing random citizens too. This drove the vampire population into two seperate groups: the ones who were terrfied to defy their masters, and the ones who only wanted to defy them. Compared to the beginning 70 members, the now 3,000,000 Resistance members are stationed all around the world, but their main headquarters is located underneath Cyber City in the United States. They fight for the idea of liberty, equality, and freedom. Some claim that the organization also inspires Hope, but that depends on who you ask.

Werewolves
Another fabled creature of the night, werewolves have been a competitive species to the vampires for centuries. Werewolves come in a wide variety of forms, from big-hulking beasts to an ordinary wolf. All werewolves share the same abilities, immense strength and endurance, speed, etc. Their strength and speed is comparable to that of a Vulkod, and the only real difference between each werewolf is their form and the color of their fur. Most of the werewolves have been captured by the Council, and are being used as entertainment, by forcing them to slaughter each other in an arena. For those who are lucky to either be free from the Council or have managed to escape, they now work with The Resistance, in hopes of freeing their brothers and sisters.

A werewolf's diet is obviously composed of meat. This meat can be of any animal, but their hunger is vast and hard to satisfy. Typically, when a werewolf is in their human form, they retain their human eye color. But when they enter their werewolf state, their eye color changes to either Red, Gold, or an Ice Blue.
