“Hello everyone, and welcome to Jade Mountain Restort! We are honored to have you all stay with us and share this special precious time with us. I am Marlies Piltie, executive housekeeper, and together with the rest of the staff, I hope we can make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.” The woman gave a bright smile at the twelve people in front of her, completely ignoring the camera crew that ran around to try to get the best shots from each angle. Some of the people seeming happier about that than others. “These six lovely people will be your personal butlers for your entire stay. They will make sure all your wishes are met, questions are answered and complaints are heard,” she said with a smile. Three charming ladies and three equally handsome males stepped forward, all of them bowing towards the newly wed couples. “Our finest suites are made available and prepared for your stay. The three Galaxy suites are located on the fifth level and the three Sun suites are located right below that, promising you a fantastic view of the island and the ocean. Please select your butler and they will bring you to your room.” The six stepped forward, all eager and enthusiast to be selected and show the rest of the hotel to their couple. The woman that had welcomed them moved down behind the counter again and looked down at the paper for a second. “For today we have a rather easy-going program, so all of you can take your time to get settled and get used to the new environment. We will be serving you a lovely getting to know each other dinner in the Jade Mountain Club at 18:30, followed by some cocktails at the Celestial Terrace for those who feel like it,” she informed them, “the rest of the program will be announced tomorrow morning at breakfast, which will be around 8:30. Though you are of course free to come down earlier, or enjoy our facilities before that time. But for now, just take a moment to take it all in. We will see you at 18:30 in the Jade Mountain Club. Have a nice stay!”

Tobias Bäcker
The lonely Workaholic

It was all still very unreal to him, even though the hot sun on his arms and the sounds of a million birds and bugs around him made it clear it was very much happening. A mere two days ago he was still a happy single. Or well, the happy part was discussable, but at least he was single. And now he was a married man. And not only married, he was married to another man. Not just any man even. No, Vano was a very handsome and gentle person, that he now could officially call his husband. Even though they had only met yesterday. All of it had happened so fast all of a sudden, so unlike anything else in his life, that was mostly carefully planned to the second. But had that not been what he had wanted? A bump in the road made the German male lose his position as his chin slid off the hand it was resting on. “Ah…” It was a mixed sound of pain and surprise as his teeth had gently pierced into the inner side of his cheek. His eyes wandering through the little jeep that was bringing them from the airport to the little resort they would be staying the upcoming three weeks, almost three weeks.

Tobias took a deep breath as he looked at the formerly mentioned hot Adonis next to him. His husband. Those curls bouncing and dancing on top of that beautiful face with each little bump in their ride to the resort. He smiled gently. “It is fine,” he said with a soft tone, still feeling rather shy through all of this. He was pretty sure that his cheeks had been more pink and red for the last 48 hours than they had been in his whole life. It were the little things that could pull that soft blush out of him, a little touch to his side, those soft lips on his cheek, those graceful fingers striking down a wrinkle. All of it so innocent, and yet it had all made him weak in the knees and feed those weird butterflies in his stomach. Though it had all been good signs, since he was supposed to be in love with this man, to fall in love, to be married and spend the rest of their lives together. Despite all the set backs they had already faced. The little struggles of a typical married couple that had showed themselves so early on and so obvious this morning. Their personalities were rather clashing to say the least and this husband of his was not the best with time and punctuality, which had quickly driven up his annoyance. But here they were in the middle of a tropical paradise it seemed.

Those piercing blue eyes found their way to the outside world again, taking the lush greens in and admiring it all in silence. His thoughts wandering, back to the ceremony. In Italy it had been, which was already a little bit of preparation for these temperatures for him. In Germany the temperatures only got this high in the summer, and even than it was a very different heat. The Italian sun had been lovely as well. The ceremony simple, but beautiful, with only close people to him. Sure, he had been allowed to bring ten guests, but he had not invited more than five. His mother, his younger brother, his sister and her husband and then there was his best friend, who had also been his best man. Or well, best woman? Isolde and he had met in Highschool and even dated through Senior year, though that didn’t work out for the obvious reason. Still even through college, he had never really dared to make that step. Instead he had focussed on his studies and now his job, perhaps it was an escape, an excuse as Isolde had so often told him. Oh, she had been absolutely flabbergasted by the male that came walking down the isle. In a good way though. Unlike… his mother. His fingers slipped the sleek device out of his pocket, yet there were no messages on his phones. Sure, some emails from work, but so far he had been good at ignoring that. Though he was pretty sure he’d give in later on in the week… That had not been what he had looked for though, there was still not a word from his mother. His sister had told him, she had just been shocked and that she still was happy for him. But it was getting harder and harder to believe. She had ran out of the ceremony and locked herself into the hotel room, she had not even been willing to talk to him this morning before they had to leave for the airport. He hoped his sister was right, that his mother would turn around and get over the shock…

A deeper sigh followed and Tobias quickly shook his head. He shouldn’t let that get in the way now, there was nothing he could change, nothing he should change about who he was and who he loved. He looked at the male next to him once again when the Jeep had come to a stop and indicated the end of the ride over rough terrain. ”After you…” he indicated and waited for Vano to get out of the car, before he followed. He wanted to turn to grab their bags, but two of the staff members were a lot quicker. Thus he stood a bit awkwardly next to his husband. Should he take his hand? Or slide his arm around his waist? All of this was still so unfamiliar to him, not just because his husband was very much still a stranger to him, but also because he was a man. He had experience with women, he had still tried dating through college, but men? Never. So he had no idea what was appropriate as they were led up to the building that was gonna be their stay. With that he was once more quickly distracted from those troubling and doubting thoughts as he watched the extra-ordinary architecture of the place as they were led into what seemed to be the reception of the hotel, along with ten other people. Five couples that just like them had married yesterday, and just like them had been strangers the day before that. Some of them already seeming very comfortable with each other, others still struggling and unsure like he felt. He gave a bit of an awkward chuckle towards one of the ladies. Each of them beautiful and good looking, though his attention was captivated by the dark skinned lady that just demanded it with every step and every movement she made. Captivating, there was no other word to describe a woman like her. How much easier the ceremony would have been if she had come walking down that isle… Yet he would only been caught up further in a lie.

Miss Piltie spoke up and asked for their attention, as the executive housekeeper. His eyes slipped over to the six people she pointed out and now bowed to them. Three lovely males and three equally lovely females, that would serve them on their hand and foot. Sure, he had wanted a honeymoon to splurge, but this was a bit much… Though with a place this big, he was sure he could use someone to show him the way and tell him what all was available to them. ”You chose, Vano,” he said, as he had stepped slightly closer to him, without really noticing. He was not the most social confident person around, unlike his husband. And since his husband the person he did know longest compared to all these others, it was him he searched some safety at. ”I am fine with any room, I am sure they are all lovely,” he spoke with that same soft tone. Almost as if he did not dare to catch any attention himself, which was not entirely untrue though. It was hard to tell anything about the rooms when they had to chose by butler and all six of them seemed equally friendly and helpful. So yes, choices like this should also not be left up to him. His eyes wandered a bit over the other couples again, trying to familiarize himself with the faces and not be in anyone’s way at the same time. He would not even mind taking the room that was left over, as some of these other people seemed rather fierce… to say the least.

To think that after seven years she had finally given in to her family’s wishes, though she had done it on her own terms in a way. The very thought of the men her mamma and papà had attempted to set her up with made her blood boil. She had done the marriage interviews, listened as her suitors droned on about their achievements and what they expected of her if they were to marry. They spoke of giving her everything that her heart desired, as if she didn’t have everything she could ever want already. The fact that the majority of them had expected her to put her work aside, to give up on what she had worked hard for, had immediately been a deal breaker. The thought was laughable and she had made it apparent.

Signing up for Married at First Sight had been something she had thought hard about. Valentina often found that she was too busy to date properly and when she did find the time things wouldn’t work out, be it schedules not aligning or her personality being too much for whoever she’d grace with her attention. Perhaps she would have better luck in just getting married first. And as her bride walked down the aisle she could imagine coming to care for her, perhaps even falling in love at some point. She was willingly to put effort into their relationship as she had no desire to be stuck in a miserable relationship.

Rachelle Bianchi nèe Baxter had not been what or rather who she had been expecting. Valentina wasn’t naive enough to believe that she’d be set up with the perfect spouse, but it was nice to see how inclusive the show was. It helped that her wife was beautiful as well, though she could tell that Rachelle wasn’t someone who came from money by the way that she and her family carried themselves. Her own family had welcomed them politely but Valentina knew that her parents weren’t entirely impressed but they hid how they felt well.

Their wedding ceremony hadn’t been as grand as she’d liked but that fact that it took place in her mother’s garden appeased her. It had been beautiful at least and they were surrounded by their families. Before long she was kissing her parents goodbye and heading off to the honeymoon destination that had been chosen for them.

Valentina sat inside the jeep that was in route to their next location. Beside her sat the woman who she had only met and married two days ago. Three weeks would be enough time for them to begin to get to know one another, and if things went smoothly they’d have a whole lifetime as well. “The view is certainly beautiful. I am looking forward to learning more about you during our stay, I hope you feel the same.” She focused her gaze on her wife for a moment then on the view from her window.

Even if the location hadn’t been one that she would have picked herself Valentina admired its beauty. She turned her attention back to the brochure in her hands. Valentina wanted to know as much as she could about the place where she’d be staying, and she was already judging as she looked through the brochure. When the vehicle finally stopped out Valentina and the door opened Valentina took the hand that one of the staff members offered her, uttering a simple “Grazie.”

Instead of immediately walking away Valentina held out a hand for Rachelle, Valentina looked every bit of a successful, wealthy woman as she straightened up. She held herself with poise that had been drilled into her from a young age. Her back was straight and her head held high. She was a vision in her green dress that made her dark skin look all the more radiant. Valentina was all glittering diamond jewelry and heels that brought attention to her long legs. The added height gave her an excuse to look down at others. As she entered Valentina could feel eyes on her. She meet their gaze for a brief moment, taking a look at the handsome man before breaking eye contact.

Valentina began to subtly look around, her hawk-like gaze looking for anything that would warrant judgement. She then focused on the other couples for a moment and finally the hostess. She really hoped that they managed to get the Galaxy Suite, she had read that it was the best they had to offer. Valentina gazed at the butlers for a moment before pointing a manicured nail at one of the women. “Hmm, you will do. A Galaxy Suite, per cortesia.”

Vano Leander Silvanus
Guru of the Self
Looking out the window at the scenery flashing past his eyes, Vano was as calm and serene as he had always been even though his life had completely changed in the last 24 hours. The miracle of being graced with not only a partner but a husband as precious and cute as Tobias felt like a bigger stroke of luck than actually being selected for this show. From the plethora of information the two were able to exchange and share from their first night of snuggling and talking as newly weds. Vano had been starting to lose himself in thoughts of yesterday's events when the dreadful bump made the car jump and Tobias let out a small yelp. Vano immediately spun his head around and he saw Tobias tending to his cheek with his hand. Vano kissed his hand then reached over to stroke that slightly bearded cheek gently with a concerned look in his glistening eyes. “Are you alright, my dear husband?” Once Tobias nodded him off Vano smiled at him and went back to looking out the window. But this time he made sure to keep his hand on the other's thigh. Vano had always been a physical person and would act no different with his husband but has been doing his best to be respectful and patient to not overwhelm his timid partner.

With his thoughts coming back into him as his gaze glossed over, Vano was contemplating everything leading up to this three week honeymoon event the two were about to undergo together. Tobias seemed to be a very stiff person from when they first locked eyes at the altar. But that eventually faded when the two were able to converse and when Vano was showering him in affections. Visible or not, Tobias reacted to each and every act of fondness and passion. Vano already was finding great pleasure in seeing even the most faint of blushes upon his husband's face. He felt like Tobias was someone he wanted to protect and knew that Tobias would be the type of person to help reel him in when he needed it. Especially after this morning when Tobias was frustrated with Vano's disregard for managing his time well. Love at first sight was not even a thought in his mind but he did see the prospect of growing to love this man he already enjoyed the company of.

Before all of those events though was their wedding. The entire journey of it from start to finish. Vano honestly found it to be right up his alley. It was in his home of Italy and the weather was wonderful as usual. The ceremony was not over done like he had always feared his wedding would be. The preparations were very telling to Vano. He realized that Tobias only invited family members and his best friend with no additional people where Vano had mostly invited friends from his job who were basically regulars and his parents. Vano found it only fair to invite those who convinced him to apply in the first place. But when Vano turned the corner to walk down the aisle an older woman, who he later found out to be Tobias' mother, ran out of the ceremony and locked herself in her hotel room. Vano accompanied Tobias to try and speak to her earlier this morning, although later than Tobias wanted, before they left to come to the island. That entire event had Tobias rattled for the rest of the night and that's why the male got a tad tipsy and ended up being little spoon to Vano while they were open books to each other until they fell asleep. Vano was doing his best to be as comforting and understanding to his husband because that type of stress is something he could never imagine for himself but knew it was a real struggle. He was just doing everything within his power to show Tobias that he was loved and allowed to be happy for himself.

A deep sigh came from the subject of Vano's thoughts and Vano let a small grin sneak onto his face as he slid over the car seat to rest his head on Tobias' shoulder as he looked up at his husband. Vano let out a small huff of disappointment when he realized he had to exit first. Before moving, he placed a quick kiss on his husband's chin before scooting across and out of the Jeep. Vano took in the view before turning to make sure he would be able to hold Tobias' hand so they could walk together. His eyes landed on a fidgety, concerned Tobias who was frozen in place. Taking the other's hand confidently in his own, he gave Tobias a large smile with a tilt of his head as they began walking as if to say he would lead the way and to not be afraid. When they reached the other couples, Vano noticed that there were some silent interactions going on between people who surely felt similar about how they had all rushed to their marriages. Each person was breathtaking in their own way and gave off auras that Vano was genuinely excited to get to learn about and analyze.

Vano listened passively as he looked past the main housekeeper while she spoke. It was not that he was uninterested but listening in such a setting had always been difficult for him. He had understood most of what she said and kept his smile on his face the entire time while squeezing Tobias' hand in his own. He thought Tobias would be the one to choose where to stay but surprisingly he passed it off as he stepped closer. Placing Tobias' arm behind his own, Vano nodded and let a woman from one of the other couples speak up before he did. His ears perked up at the perfect Italian that escaped her lips and Vano couldn't help but want to let her notice the same as he pointed toward one of the male butlers. “Per favore, signore, una suite solare. My galaxy is now my husband and I would prefer our world to be bright for the next few weeks.” He glanced at the woman who had spoken earlier and gave her a friendly smile and head nod. Lifting his hand with Tobias' in it, he motioned a silent signal to eat dinner later. Hopefully she would interpret the invitation so the four of them could sit together, speak, and get to know each other later on. Although Vano would not be partaking in alcohol, the decision to attend the club would be made later. Right now he was excited to follow the butler and see the room he and his husband would be living in for three weeks.

.V1LLAINISM._ .V1LLAINISM._

Everything was still somewhat of a blur for Quinn as she sat rather quiet while still appearing to be relaxed. A vague smile was plastered to her face while a miniature version of herself was screaming inside. She was truly at a loss for words and toyed with the ring that seemed to be glued to her finger. She was married, a wife, with a husband. That broken line of simplistic thinking went on until they reached their destiny.

Quinn glanced over at her stranger-turned-husband and admired stature. Thoughts of how kind and gentle he had been throughout their very awkward first interaction. Their personalities had meshed quite well as both did not have any over the top desires for their wedding. Learning of the Kurdish culture was a truly enjoyable experience as she was able to taste some of their cuisine. Overall, Quinn felt that maybe they really could end up spending their lives together as a truly happy couple.

By the time she noticed Samir waiting for her to exit the jeep after opening her door, her face had taken on a noticeable red hue. A slight stumble followed as she exited the jeep and they began their trek towards the reception area. She was taken in by the pure scale of everything and the lengths the staff would go to make it a grand honeymoon. Quinn didn't really have a set room preference but figured that both of them would enjoy the wider space, ''I'd like for us to be in the Galaxy room if that's alright with you Amir. Oh and if it's possible to get some blackout curtains installed that would be great. Waking up to direct sunlight has been a very rough expereience that has reulted in a few faceplants from the bed.''

Theodore Huiliang Liu
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Theodore wiped a bothersome drop of sweat from his forehead. It was a beautiful day, but the man was dressed a little too warmly (and formally) considering his surroundings. Pulling out his phone, Theo checked the time. She's late. His dearest, darling, beloved wife was nowhere to be seen. Sighing in mild annoyance, Theo took a deep breath. Looking around at the picturesque resort surrounding him, he took in the view; the resort was surrounded by towering tropical mountains, fluffy clouds, and a shimmering sapphire ocean that turned to a brilliant transparent jade as it neared shore. The scenery calmed him while he listened to the Executive Housekeepers itinerary. This whole thing was supposed to be an easygoing and relaxing vacation event, he reminded himself. Unfortunately, it looked like things were off to an uncoordinated start. He'd made the trip to the resort by himself; apparently, Scout was supposed to have met him in front of the accomodations. Looking on by himself, Theo watched as the other couples trickled over to the waiting butlers, choosing their rooms. Checking his phone again, Theo dialed Scout's number again, only for his call to go straight to voicemail. Great. Slipping his phone back into this pocket, Theo crossed his arms and continued to wait. He was sure Scout wouldn't have been late unless she had a good reason; he'd give her the benefit of the doubt, something he didn't extend to everybody a couple of days after meeting them.

It had been a pleasant enough wedding. More lavish than he or his father would have liked, but his mother's extravagant tastes seemed to line up perfectly with Scout's. Theo's mother, Jia, had taken quite a liking to Scout overall and had pulled no punches with Theo's end of the wedding preparations. During the wedding itself, Scout had suffered no small amount of doting cheek kisses, pinches, and hugs from the ecstatic woman. It might've just been her relief that there'd been a female willing to settle down with Theodore, but Theo wasn't sure his mother understood Scout hadn't had a choice. Things had gotten slightly uncomfortable when his mothers' rugged-looking Triad Lieutenants had arrived to wish the couple well; Theo had quickly passed the men off to Scout as prominent businessmen, his mother's coworkers. Theodore had yet to be honest with Scout about the nature of his family's business; so far he'd only made vague statements about his mother running a very successful corporation based in Hong Kong. It wasn't that far off from the truth, even if that "corporation" oversaw and managed criminal activities that ranged from arms trafficking to extortion. It would suffice to say that there had been no shortage of expensive wedding gifts or mysteriously tattooed mean at the wedding. The latter was much to Theo's chagrin. Other than that, everything had more or less gone down smoothly.

Coming out of his memories, Theo extended the handle of his singular medium-sized suitcase, hefted the expensive leather holdall bag hanging by his side, and approached the dwindling row of butlers. I might as well go ahead and choose a room before Scout gets here. No point in not getting the room ready for her when she gets here. Given the nature of the establishment, Theo was sure that all 3 of the remaining butlers were well qualified. Stopping beside one of the men, Theo gave him a wan smile. "One of the Galaxy Suites, please. My wife is not here yet, but I'd like to get the room arranged for her before she arrives."

Hearing the pitter-patter of footsteps approaching, Theo looked over his shoulder, seeing a somewhat familiar figure approaching him in a jumble of suitcases and bags. It was Scout, his ...wife. She was approaching at a rather rapid pace. It still doesn't feel very real. Then again, this is all basically a TV show anyway. Opening his mouth, Theo wondered if it was appropriate to smile yet. He struggled to think of something that communicated warmth, good humor, and most importantly, affection. If Scout had run into trouble, the last thing she needed to see was his frowning face. Unfortunately, words failed him, and before he knew it, Scout had blazed right past him without a second glance. Quickly closing the gap before she got too far, Theo reached over and grabbed her hand. Seeing that he had successfully gotten her attention, he quickly released her and withdrew his hand with a little cough. She's your wife, right? Tell her she looks beautiful. Tell her that her skin reminds you of snow and white roses. Pull her in for a kiss, and help her with her bags. Tell her - "You're...late. Did something happen on the way here?" Theo did his best to show concern.

Samir was what many would consider a nervous wreck. Entirely too self-conscious on even the most minuscule of habits, he’d since stifled much of his quirks in hopes of safekeeping whatever impression the woman had been concocting. At least she didn’t outright loathe him right? Right?! After all, he’d been trying his very best to impress her, to win her affections over. Though with an unreadable face such as hers, it was quite difficult to tell what the composed woman had thought of him thus far. Difficult indeed.

During the ride however, the brunet had spared but a few shy glances at his lovely bride here and there, peering out of curios eyes as the two had bashfully exchanged in causua conversation. Fidgeting with his ring, it’s metallic sensation was a feeling rather foreign to that of his slender finger. Why, what a strange thing it was- being a married man. It almost felt as if he’d been bestowed with a heavenly duty, a responsibility to not only care for his wife but care for their relationship. To nurture it and watch it flourish under their best efforts. He’d never really felt such a thing before. Although there was no ignoring it, the psychiatrist was quite the sight to behold too, allowing his eagerness to extend within this strange arrangement of theirs. Yet he was afraid that with his proficiency in English (or rather, there lack of) that it’d be hard to express such gratitude for having been gifted with an ethereal bride. Why, surely his angry mother would have had a change of heart upon meeting the angelic young woman. In fact, He’d even go as far as to guarantee it.

However, it was not all about looks, why of course not! After all, Sami was far from being a superficial man himself. In fact, from what little interaction they’d encountered thus far, he’d already gathered that the french-Canadian was that of the insightful kind- quite fitting for her career he thought. Proven by her curiousness over his culture & background (which had him nearly hopping on the edge of his seat as he’d eagerly rambled on about his home and family), Quinn’s curiosity about his upbringing had only sweetened the deal. Grateful to have finally met someone who actually cared for the humble beginnings of a small and insignificant immigrant such as himself. Not many were like that. And as a result, this little observation had done well to bode him into reassurance. After all, he couldn’t imagine him being entangled in a- what was it? Two? Three week trip?? With someone immature and rather closed-minded. No, he had hope for her, he had hope for them. And a lot of it at that.

“I'd like for us to be in the Galaxy room if that's alright with you Amir. Oh and if it's possible to get some blackout curtains installed that would be great. Waking up to direct sunlight has been a very rough expereience that has reulted in a few faceplants from the bed.''

Although he hadn’t completely understood all of what the woman had said, he’d heard enough to realize that she was partial to one of the Galaxy suites. And anything she wanted, he wanted too. Happy wife happy life, as the Americans say. Taking ahold of their luggage, the man took to one of the many staff members before speaking - “Erm we would like a galaxy suite please- with black curtains? No! Blackout curtains.” He corrected himself, pride lacing his features. He was getting better and better at this everyday.

And so, returning to his wife’s side the man was curios to know of what she wanted most out of this trip, what she wanted to do, eat etc. He simply wanted to know it all.
“So once room is ready,” He began “What you will do?” The young fellow inquired. “Are you tired? Hungry? We could get snack before dinner. Oh! And, do you want to drink those cocktails after? I don’t drink but I feel I must come if you go.”

BLAKE DOUGLAS

When Blake signed up for this, he’d expected the unexpected. However, with his humble imagination, he could only envisage so much. A sudden change in relationship status, the precipitous exchange of wedding vows with a stranger he’d never before laid eyes on, and an intimacy he hoped would stem from more than just mere physical attraction… Those were the kind of nerve-wracking prospects he’d entertained. They were welcomed changes he felt that, while risky in essence, he could very well benefit from. He’d opted in for this partly because he was beginning to tire of the drabness of everyday life, and partly with the hopes of actually finding someone he could emotionally invest in on a long-term basis. The latter was certainly a challenge given the nature of the proceedings… He wasn’t a believer in ‘love at first sight’, didn’t expect to fall head over heels the moment this mystery person strode down the aisle. With a little persistence however, through meaningful conversation and amorous exchange, he hoped to find in his partner that something he’d been yearning for. He was optimistic, in that sense.

However, his optimism didn’t entirely quell the jittery feeling in his gut. As preparations were made for his once-in-a-lifetime trip, the Aussie braced himself for his newly televised lifestyle. Blake had willingly submitted himself to the process but something about it all made him feel as though he was a little less in control than he’d have liked. Perhaps starting with his being whisked off to LA for the matrimonial proceedings… He did his utmost to enjoy the experience regardless, taking in his surroundings and each upcoming event with a casual curiosity, supported by his close family and friends all the while.

Then came his big day. He knew to expect something on the showy side since they were in Los Angles of all places, but the wedding truly wasn’t anything short of extravagant. With every detail tended to seeming perfection, Blake hardly had a proper grasp on the situation before he found himself standing at the altar, surrounded in flowers, pretty suspended lights and the like. He thought he’d heard mention of his bride’s name among the guests in passing, but he couldn’t be sure. The brunet was a little fidgety, feeling mildly out of place in the tux he was given to wear (it seemed strange that he wasn’t allowed to choose his wedding attire despite prior arrangements, but that was a forgettable detail in the grand scheme of things). With his mind and eyes drifting from person to person to the reverse end of the aisle in thrilling anticipation, it was but moments before the procession began. When it did, Blake held his breath throughout. However, the instant his wife-to-be appeared, he was rendered totally breathless.

To say Samara was easy on the eyes was an understatement. She was stunning... utterly gorgeous. An angel treading earth. He could practically hear his mates silently howling their approval on account of his bride’s appearance alone. The night before his trip to LA, over drinks they’d joked about Blake exchanging vows with some ugly crone in her late thirties, whose occult practices would prevent him from breaking off the relationship. Quite the foreboding prophecy at the time, but Blake was sure he’d witnessed from the corner of his eye several jaws drop among familiar faces as they beheld her, a bewitching beauty who glided down the aisle all clad in lacy white. Samara’s sorcery was a truly different kind. It wasn’t like Blake to boast something he felt he hadn’t exactly earned, but he was a little smug nonetheless.

Given pretty smiles and polite exchanges, Blake decided his earlier optimism may very well be justified and so cherished the moment they exchanged rings. It was as tender a moment as anticipated, and although made a little awkward by their unfamiliarity with each other, most of Blake’s concerns seemed to disperse the moment they shared their first kiss and celebrations were underway. While it was all a little overwhelming given his rather reserved nature, he did his best to loosen up during the grand reception and later festivities, focusing what he could of his energy on getting to know his new partner in whichever way possible. So far he enjoyed a charming personality that complemented equally charming looks, and quickly found himself in admiration of her.

What could very well be called a dream wedding soon enough progressed into the beginnings of a rather promising honeymoon, their trip to the Caribbean Islands a comfortable one. This part was to be shared with a number of other strangers-turned-couples, he understood, although that didn't bother him so much. The experience alone was something to behold, and the most of the Jeep ride he spent in relative quiet, taking in the sights of St. Lucia, enjoying the mere presence of his spouse and the situation for what it was worth. It was both idyllic and exciting... Blake was satisfied as of yet and it showed in his lighthearted demeanor, in the tender half-smiles he levelled his wife at every exchange.

Upon their arrival at the resort, Blake was swift to exit the Jeep, rounding the vehicle to open the door for Samara's exit. He waited for her to collect herself so that they might approach the resort alongside the others, coming to a stop amongst the small congregation and paying idle mind to those present during the welcoming spiel they were delivered. Many of the individuals present seemed to carry themselves with certain poise... Blake might've thought it intimidating, but nobody was here on account of a business venture. All the couples gathered here today were looking to relax and to bond, whatever their backgrounds might be, and he found certain comfort in that.

Distractedly twisting the platinum ring that newly graced his ring finger (this too had been selected for him, but it was a nice ring, with a so-and-so many carat diamond fixed to it), Blake tuned back in to the housekeeper, eyeing those butlers that stepped forward to serve. Upon hearing of the types of rooms made available to them, Blake wasn't so swift to secure one for lack of pickiness. But it was clear from how quickly every man, woman and their dog were to secure a Galaxy room which of the two was in demand. There couldn't be too many of those units left, he figured, and that didn't bother Blake. Samara, on the other hand...

His gaze drifting from the array of butlers, he stepped a little closer to the woman, lightly brushing his fingers against Samara’s forearm in a mild bid for her attention.

“Are you okay to settle for a Sun room?” He inquired, his tone of voice low. "Can't be much less spectacular than a Galaxy unit." He glanced about the lobby in saying this, already very impressed and believing that their accommodation would not disappoint either.

S C O U T

Location: Jade Mountain Resort
Mention: Teddy bear Short Round Short Round
Interactions: Teddy bear pt. 2 Short Round Short Round

Needless to say, it’d been a very strange series of events thus far. Why, in but a mere 48 hours or so, Scout had not only been able to attain the makings of a relationship, but had marred him practically on the spot... Did she mention the 48 hours bit? Nothing really is impossible these days huh? Though truly, it was amazing how extravagant the wedding had been despite the rather short notice and the plethora of strangers attending. Much of whom had stemmed from Teddy’s side of the now conjoined family. Hell, she’d barely even gotten to know the groom before vowing her eternal love and affection with a sealed “I do.” Although, she supposed that the Cinderella wedding had made up for the fact. For, despite not being much of a materialistic person, Scout could quite easily get used to this kind of lifestyle. After all, with humble beginnings such as her own, it was only natural to crave a little extra here and there. Living commission to commission had begun to take a slight toll on her, as much as she hated to admit.

The groom himself however, despite not being as charming as the fabled Prince Charming, had been polite and well-mannered- if not a little distant and cold. Had he even smiled?? At least once?? Hey, maybe she could teach him how to smile! Although she reckoned that they had a long ways to go before entering that conversation. After all, they couldn’t just start off by picking at each other’s flaws. No, that’s for years later when they eventually begin to loathe one another, silly! Whatever the case, it was safe to say that Theodore was not what she’d been expecting in the slightest. In fact, she’d been fearing an ancient relic of a being being with a closet of fetishes not suitable for PG audiences. Let’s just say that Teddy had been a nice (and rather relieving) surprise.

His mother however, Mrs. Liu had seemed to enjoy her company far more than he had. Why, Scout could almost go as far as to say that she’d practically married the woman instead, given all the little displays of affection and whatnot. Though she hadn’t minded in the slightest, after all she was a sucker for mushy actions, and having been dethroned by her younger brother long ago, it had felt nice to be doted on as the new daughter in law to the Liu family. Though her mother too had shared similar feelings about the arrangement, having simmered from her wariness once she’d met the partnering family and realized that they indeed, weren’t blood sucking perverts. And her brother Atticus, in all of his waking immaturity had practically gorged himself with all of the food available, congratulating the pair quite happily within his passing. Her father however had been.... unconvinced to say the least. Why, he’d mentioned something about the whole clan seeming shady underneath his breath and had practically refused to bestow his affections onto his son in law (not that Theodore would’ve enjoyed it anyhow). Needless to say, his behaviour had really disappointed Scout that night, so much that she hadn’t really engaged in a full conversation since then.

Today however, was a new day. A fresh start that hadn’t started out so... fresh. For the young brunette, in all of her haste had been running late. Having slept in after a night spent tossing and turning (she’d been far too excited to fall asleep okay?). And having procrastinated the process of putting all of her luggage back together, let’s just say that it’d been quite the chaotic morning. Scampering around as she stuffed all of her belongings back into her suitcases (three in total alongside a couple small bags) and of course her art supplies, which she intended to utilize on her trip, using her surroundings as a muse of a sort. She held big plans for this trip, big indeed.

But unfortunately, many of her supplies still bore the same residue of which she used last, leaving behind streaks of materials practically everywhere. On her face, on her clothes, on her legs. Literally everywhere. And yet of course there hadn’t been enough time to clean it off, leading Scout to soldier on half awake and covered in what could have only been oil paint, pastels and/or graphite. There was no way of knowing, not after some coffee at least.

~~~
Bidding the driver a cheerful goodbye, Scout had practically barrelled past her husband in attempts to find her well, her husband. She hadn’t even noticed him due to the layers of clothing- wasn’t he hot?? Glancing down at his hand clasped around hers, a tender smile had crept onto her features, a natural reaction to such an unexpected showcase of intimacy. They were making progress! Though her smile had all but faltered at his next words, hand flopping back down to lay at her side in a discouraged manner. "You're...late. Did something happen on the way here?"
Heaving a soft sigh, the woman ran a steady hand through her fringe, not exactly wanting to expose her less than put together ways in front of a put together man. “I didn’t sleep too well last night so I accidentally slept in is all...Sorry for being late Teddy.” She concluded, flashing the man a sheepish smile before curiously directing her attention toward their peers. She knew it was rude to stare but she wanted to know who they’d be accompanied by!! Surely they were just as interesting as her husband right?
Samara was a girl who knew what she wanted. Whether is be boys, jobs, or clothes she always knew what she wanted. When she heard about Love at First sight, she knew that was what she wanted to do. She figured she would get to see some beautiful places and have fun along the way. Plus the whole thing was televised and she was super into that. She had a plan too. Use the show to get big, then if her husband was a total loser she could dump him and get with someone better. After the honey moon of course. She figured it wouldn't be hard to do. She learned early on that men were very easy to manipulate. It was actually her mom who taught her everything she needed to know. That marriage wasn't for love. It was for opportunities and stability. Love was nothing you could bring to a bank. Love was unpredictable and messy. Her mom warned her of a life spent with a poor man in the name of love. Where she would have to work and things wouldn't be easy all for her husband to end up hurting her. She was taught that love wasn't something you could count on. Stability on the other hand was something she could count on. She could have everything she ever wanted if she played her cards right.
Her friends and family weren't as supportive as she would have liked but they all knew Sammi. She didn't care what anyone else thought about her decisions. She saw it, she liked it, she want it, she got it. It was just the way things operated for Sammi and always had. So they gave in and decided to go along with her plan. Her parents hired her the second best wedding planner they could find, the first being Sammi of course. Then let her live her wildest dreams. Well not her complete wildest dream but pretty damn close. She agreed it was too much work to have a destination wedding with a man she had never met. She hoped for some tall, rich, sexy CEO or something. He would fall head over heels for her and give her everything she wanted. She knew that would be quite a stretch though. Doesn't hurt to dream right? She envisioned her husband every day until the wedding. Then she was solely focused on herself. It was her special day after all. Everything looked exactly how she wanted it to. Was beautiful but simple, so none of the attention was taken away from her of course.
The beautiful girl walked down the isle with her father, soaking up every drop of attention she could. It wasn't until she got to the altar that she gave Blake a look. He seemed to match all her boxes physically. He was tall but not too tall. He was handsome but not more attractive than her. He didn't have a beard but he did have a nice full head of hair. He looked like he was relatively in shape. Maybe not exactly to her liking but she figured it could be MUCH worst. She also took this time to look at some of his groomsmen and his family. They all seemed to be semi attractive, normal people. The vows and ring ceremony went as expected. The kiss was nice too. Everything so far had been perfect, and Sammi was planning on that. The reception went well too. She had a lot of fun for someone who just married a stranger. Sammi was very happy. So far Blake was playing the perfect part of her husband. She focused on being a good wife too. They were still new and Samara knew she had to wait to sink her claws into him. She had to get him to fall in love with her. Then he seemed like he would do as told.
The wedding ended but the party was just getting started. They enjoyed a nice trip to the Caribbean. Taking as many pictures as she could along the way. It was a beautiful island, she enjoyed a peaceful Jeep ride with Blake. Something she liked about him was he was okay with comfortable silence. Most men didn't know when the shut the fuck up which meant a lot of fake listening to Samara. She enjoyed the trip and took in as many sights as she could. Uploading beautiful videos of the views and her new hubby to Instagram. It was all about appearances and she wanted to make her enemies at home die of jealously.
They arrived to the resort they would be staying at and Sammi's jaw nearly dropped. It was absolutely beautiful. She grinned to herself as Blake ran around the Jeep to open her door. Taking his hand, she exited the car giving a little wink to the cameras. Walking with Blake up join the other people she would be spending her time with. She made sure to covertly check them out. There were some beautiful girls but no Sammi would ever be intimidated by. Then some handsome men, some sexier than others. No one had got a stinker. What a shame. She listened the executive housekeeper tell them all about the experience. Then something bursted her fantasy bubble. All the other couples had snatched up all the galaxy rooms. Then she felt a subtle touch of her arm, she turned to Blake with a small grin.
“Are you okay to settle for a Sun room? Can't be much less spectacular than a Galaxy unit."
Sammi's jaw clenched. What did he just say to me? She took a moment to look at Blake. He was giving her this look that he was happy just to be here at all. It was sweet it really was. She then looked to the other couples. Samara was sure they were all nice people but she was not about to be stuck in a sun room. Touching Blakes cheek tenderly, she gave him a soft smile.
"I know we are still learning about each other but theres something I want you to know about me.... I DON'T settle..." Her tender touch turning to a gentle slap on the cheek.
"Hi I'm sorry... I think theres been a mistake. There's no way I'm staying in a sun room... We are going to need a galaxy room please. You said all my complaints would be heard? A sun room is not how I want to start this honey moon. So. A galaxy room if you'd please." Turning to cheat out to the cameras she tossed her dark brown hair.
"Samara Medici. But you can call me Sammi sweetheart." That was a perfect introduction to the world.
It was an odd feeling, all of this. Being in front of cameras and, most of all, marrying someone she had never even met before, let alone before even knowing if they liked each other or not. She knew she chose this, but there were moments where doubt had creeped into her mind. What if they ended up not liking me? What if we both didn’t like each other? With such a publicized wedding and the expectations of their families and viewers, would they feel the pressure to stay together? Would becoming a wife and gaining a wife change her life too much?
Arriving at her wife’s family’s estate and being swept up in a whirlwind of a wedding didn’t help the questions that flooded her mind, either. Was she too humble for this show, too out of her element to stack up with the others? She’d seen a little bit of the show, but not with the context of herself being in it. They always seemed like relatively normal people, but this was… extravagant. Her family was staying in a hotel that her wife’s family owned and the estate was… quite frankly, beautiful. She wasn’t even sure what to think about it all, but truly didn’t have time to process it while being dragged along through the wedding and reception. While it wasn’t quite her dream wedding, it was in a beautiful garden, and she was pleased to be surrounded by all the flowers.
When she saw her wife walk down the aisle, many of the questions swirling around her troubled mind were put on pause. She was… beautiful, elegant even, and she commanded the entire room. Rachelle certainly didn’t believe in love at first sight, but she was at least relieved to find out that she could very easily grow to have feelings for her new wife. Though she felt some judgement from her new in-laws, she shrugged it off and spent the rest of the night riding a wonderful high. Maybe she could be just as elegant after all and she could fit in this lifestyle easily.
The jeep ride was a little quiet, but she chalked that up to the newness. It wasn’t an easy silence, but the scenery outside was distracting enough and she was nervous and excited about their upcoming journey together as a couple. ‘The view is certainly beautiful. I am looking forward to learning more about you during our stay. I hope you feel the same.’ “I'm very excited to get to know you, too,” she responded, kind of dumbly but not sure what else to respond. She was very excited to get to know Valentina and learn about her, her family and what she does, what she wanted to do. She only hoped that she could live up to Valentina’s expectations, and wasn’t sure if that would be the case.
When they arrived, Valentina held out a hand for her as she left the car. Blushing a little at the sign of affection, Rachelle took her hand and followed her. As they stood and listened to the housekeeper, Rachelle tried to survey the others to see what they were like, if everyone was as incredible as Valentina. While everyone didn’t seem quite as extravagant as her wife, they all seemed quite well put together, interesting characters, and that made Rachelle a little self-conscious. She straightened, checking her posture beside her wife (who was taller than her due to the high heels she wore, which made Rachelle feel small, a feeling she didn’t get often and made her feel small and special to be beside Valentina).
She’d stopped paying attention for a minute as she followed her wife over to a butler (which was another crazy thing to Rachelle, a butler?) and was startled when she heard a woman behind her complaining to another butler about the room choices. She raised an eyebrow but tried to hide her expression quickly, looking back over at her wife and feeling kind of dumbfounded at Samara’s dramatics, then reminding herself that this was a reality TV show after all, dramatics came with the territory. She knew Valentina likely wanted the best of the best too (considering she asked the butler only moments before for the same room), but she felt like either of the rooms would be amazing if the rest of the resort looked the way that it did, and she would surely be happy with whatever they got.
Still, nothing could have prepared her for even the walk over to their room. Over a suspended bridge, surrounded by plants and a beautiful view of everything below. It turned out, they lucked out enough to get the room they wanted, the coveted Galaxy room. When the butler opened the door, she was honestly shocked. It was massive, with ceiling fans and a huge pool inside. The whole room was open to the outside and it had an incredible view. She honestly couldn’t speak for a moment, waiting until the butler left before letting Valentina’s hand go and walking over to the barrier that separated them from falling out and putting her hands on it, gazing out at the trees and the mountains.
“This is incredible,” she breathed before turning back to her wife kind of sheepishly at her wonder about the room. She would’ve bet that Valentina saw views like this all the time. “I mean, do you like it?"
Tobias Bäcker
The lonely Workaholic
The woman was the first to speak up and select one of the female butlers in a way it seemed she had done so before. Not something that would surprise the German male though. She had the looks and the posture of someone that came from money, a lot of money. She asked for a Galaxy suite or perhaps she wished for it, for he was unable to make out the last words she spoke. A beautiful language that was not his own, but Vano seemed to reply with it easily. Italian, beautiful alluring Italian. Far more friendly, and sexy, than his own motherlanguage. Which reminded him of the fact they would have to figure out what to do with living circumstances. His work meant he could not that easily leave Germany… And Vano seemed to be less bound to one place. Though he would not mind learning that beautiful language that now fell from his husbands lips. If he had not known any better and was not referred to in the sentence that followed, he would have thought the male had flirted with the woman. “Vano…” It was a soft protest as he could feel his ears and cheeks heat up when he was pointed out as being the others galaxy. How.. cliché and sappy. But still it made his heart flutter in a weird way through his chest.
Tobias didn’t get a good luck at the male that was now selected as their butler when one of the females came stumbling in late, to the displeasement of the husband it seemed. A rather distant stoic Asian male who was referred to as Teddy. A rather odd name choice with the vibe that came of the male, but who knew how he was in private? Furthermore he could very much understand his dislike of his partner tardiness. Something that was also playing parts between him and Vano, but luckily it had been avoided to actually come late. This morning that was. His hand was tugged and he looked up a bit surprised at his husband. Right, they were gonna be shown their room. Who was the one losing track of time now, huh? He gave a bit sheepish smile as he wanted to walk after his husband and their butler, when another woman strutted into the reception. Who clearly had clearly been paying more attention to her looks and the cameras than whatever the Executive Housekeeper had been telling them. He couldn’t help but to roll his eyes at the dramatics she was displaying, something that was obviously caught by one of the crewmembers as one of the cameras seemed to zoom in on him. And thus he quickly made sure his expression was back to neutral friendly. Like hell he was gonna call her Sammi sweetheart. Seriously… some people. ”Let’s go to our randomly chosen room,” he said. Not able to keep himself from emphasizing the fact this was all random, and thus no room to make silly demands as she had just done.
His eyes moved over to her new husband, unable to keep himself from giving him a sympathetic look. He seemed a lot more humble and down to earth than that wife. Like, seriously, they were getting a free honey moon and she was gonna complain about the room? Before even knowing what room she had or how it looked like? Yeah, he should probably stay away from her. Normally he was not that easily annoyed and he could stay civil for a long time, but something about her was just getting under his skin already. However, as Vano would say, he should not spend time thinking about her, for all that negative energy was not worth it. Rather he should concentrate on the beauty of the resort and the happiness of being here together. And thus he did as they left the first floor and walked over the paths up to their assigned room. A sun room. Good. He had to admit he was a bit relieved at that. Since ‘Sammi Sweetheart’ had not been the only one to make her desire for the galaxy room out loud, and him being him, Tobias knew that he would not have been able to fully relaxed if he had had a Galaxy room. ”Thank you,” he said as he took one of the key cards that the butler handed to them. He still had a hard time to really think of him as a butler, but what else to call him? And he honestly seemed to enjoy his job as the young male had put in quite some effort to point out some flowers and birds along the way.
Tobias let his piercing blue eyes travel to the room. It was open. A lot more open than he had expected as on one side there was no wall, nor window. The very next thing that caught his attention was the infinity pool, followed by the coffee machine. Though only because the butler, Pirro, was just pointing it out. ”I could most definitely use a cup of black coffee,” he said. With all the things that happened the past 48 hours and the jet lag, he could really use some caffeine to battle it all. The young male was quick to provide them as not much later the smell of fresh coffee beans being grounded filled the little room. Or better said apartment. It was a lot bigger than the hotel rooms he usually stayed at, but then again, he normally wouldn’t splurge. Not that that is costing them a single dime… He followed Pirro further into the room, glancing over at the bathroom that clearly would not provide too much privacy. Yet for now he did not wish to let that worry him. ”Thank you, Pirro, I think we are fine for now,” he said. He took the warm cup of coffee from him and sipped of the hot beverage. He looked back at his husband. ”What do you think?” he asked softly as he walked over to take in the beautiful view over the ocean and the other islands in the distance. This was amazing. There was absolutely nothing wrong with a Sun Room. "I completley understand why they call these sanctuaries instead of rooms," he said, obviously very amazed with it all.
Quinn couldn't help but smile at how cute Samir's slight slip up was, the accent made it all the more endearing. Downright adorable at this point. It made her all the more confident that, even if they didn't work out as a couple, they could at least remain good friends. ''I am a little hungry but I figure that I may as well go enjoy a cocktail or something to ease the nerves, you can still go look around on your own if you want to. I would hate to hold you back from exploring the rest of the resort--''
It was at that moment that one person decided to make themselves know to everyone there. The outburst from the woman who demanded the room of her choosing was quite reminiscent of a client she once had. Quinn had described that person as a stereotypical narcissist, she may now have to retract that statement now that she had been exposed to Sam #2. Quinn's brain was soon lost on a mental tangent as she weighed whether or not the girl was seriously acting like this or that she was inflating her own ego to put on a show for the cameras. Ah, forgot about those for a second. She peeked around Samir and spotted one, Quinn offered it a small wave and a somewhat tight smile as she wonder how she was appearing.
Quinn suddenly felt a sickly heat wave overcome her as she began to get awkwardly subconscious and had begun to second guess her reason for being there. 'For fucks sake I've been here all of 30 minutes and already wanna hole myself up in my room. Why did my family think I was built for this?' She placed her hand on Samir's arm to get his attention before she walked off towards the bar. Even though she was in a field that involved direct human interaction, there was a huge difference between a controlled setting vs being exposed through cameras.
The bar wasn't actually too far away from the reception but enough distance to feel like her space wasn't being invaded. It was only the beginning of the shoot and she already had the bartender make her something strong enough to kill nerves but not enough that she fully embarrasses herself in front of complete strangers. Great. On the brightside she could fully observe those gathered and she was once again struck by everyone's beauty. Sure Sammi was loud and upfront but she had the beauty to at least back up the way she was acting. In fact, all of the women were stunning in ways varying from seductive to downright adorable like the very late Scout. ''....I completely forgot to bring up me being bisexual with Samir, he may not feel comfortable with me and might just assume that I'd cheat on him with women like most people seem to view bisexuals...'' At this point she was talking out loud to herself while nursing her drink.
Theodore Huiliang Liu
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I didn’t sleep too well last night so I accidentally slept in is all...Sorry for being late Teddy.” Theodore flinched visibly when he heard Scout call him Teddy. For as long as he'd had his English name, he'd strictly asked to be called Theodore in all manners both business and leisure. Well, his childhood friend Ming called him Ted, but she was in her own category. Instinctively, he opened his mouth to correct Scout. Seeing her turn her head to look at the other couples arrayed about them, he decided he'd let this one instance go by. But next time, he'd definitely correct her. "It's fine, Ms. -" Theo paused, then tried again. "It's fine, Scout. Better late than never. I was just about to get our room key." Thanks for not leaving me alone. Scout's body was thoroughly covered in what looked like paint and pencil graphite, and a few of her bags bore the same marks as well. Either she was attacked by a sentient crayon box, or she had a hard time getting packed. Theo remembered that Scout was a gifted artist, so he decided that her messy appearance was explainable, and didn't ask about it. For all he knew, the mess might've just been a new fashion statement.
Seeing a couple heading for their room, Theo decided to follow suit. Turning to the butler, he extended his hand, shaking the man's hand firmly. "My name is-" The butler cut him off with a smile as bright as the Caribbean sun, pulling out a paper keycard holder. "Mr. Liu, there is no need for introductions. My name is Silva, and I'm familiar with both you and your lovely wife. As for your earlier appeal, I am afraid that room requests are not available. Assignments have already been made; you two will be staying at one of our Sun Suites." Theo sighed. "So be it. Please take us to our room, Silva." Wordlessly reaching over, he picked up most of Scout's luggage. As he straightened, he noticed a convergence of camera attention on a woman he hadn't noticed before.
Passing by, Theo cast an appraising glance at her, Samara, with shrewd eyes. She was beautiful, of course. Dark brown hair, with light blue eyes; a genetic rarity. She had a body and a face that would make the goddess of beauty herself green with envy. But, it was a different kind of beauty, one that lacked the modest grace that Scout's allure possessed. Samara carried herself with the pompous confidence of someone who was used to getting her own way. He was decidedly unimpressed, and from the looks of things, not many of the other couples present were impressed either. Averting his eyes, Theo checked himself and continued on his path. Bold judgment, coming from the son of the biggest crooks to set up shop in Hong Kong. In any case, he almost felt bad for her husband, a relaxed-looking man who projected a decidedly easygoing aura. He couldn't help but feel that the two had contrasting personalities.
A cameraman panned a camera nearby, stopping to focus on Theo and Scout. Stopping in his tracks, Theo turned and stared icily into the camera lens, instinctively moving to shield his wife from view. He could see the cameraman and a bespectacled director motioning for them to smile. In all honesty, Theo didn't care that this whole thing was being televised. Given the relative fame (and infamy) garnered by his family, he'd grown up around the flashing lights of annoying cameras and paparazzi. They'd get no drama out of him if he could help it. But, he had an obligation to at least be agreeable. Standing aside so that the camera could see Scout as well, he flashed a frigid smile. Once the moment was over, the pair continued on their way.
The Sun Room was both spacious and grandiose, to say the least. His feet gently clicking against the expensive hardwood floor, Theo took a moment to take in the sight of the room, with its infinity pool and lack of a fourth wall. Turning to Scout, he took note of her reaction. The slightly dimming sunlight shining in from the open expanse cast a golden glow on her face. It gave her appearance an ethereal element. Pulling his attention away from her by carefully laying their accumulated bags and suitcases down, Theo exhaled and ran a hand through his black hair, smoothing a few strands out of his face. It would feel great to strip some of his layers off, but not yet. Looking over at Scout, his countenance remained one of stony indifference. "We've got a couple of hours before we should start heading down for dinner. It might be a good idea to clean up." The right corner of Theo's mouth twitched upwards into what might have been a small smile, although the small change only lasted a moment. "Although I may not have a problem with the paint smears, I'd hate to think about the others misjudging you." Think about all those cheesy romance movies and TV shows Ming made you watch. How did those men act around their wives? Think! Reaching up, Theodore decided he'd try using his thumb to gently wipe away a smudge of baby blue oil pastel on Scout's cheek. Halfway through, he decided it was too much and used the motion to scratch his cheek instead, looking down awkwardly. Having more or less missed Scout's reaction when he grabbed her hand earlier, he decided he'd let her set some of the boundaries if she wanted to. "If you want, I can leave the room to give you your privacy. I know that things have been moving a little fast in the last couple of days, and I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
Valentina would admit that the walk to their room was something to admire. The suspended bridge, paired with the surrounding plants made for a gorgeous view that certainly fit the theme of a tropical vacation. She paid little mind to the camera crew that followed the two of them, taking in their reactions and the sights before them. As usual her face was serene, as if she didn’t have a care in the world. When they finally reached their room Valentina was satisfied to see that they had gotten the Galaxy Suite as she had requested. Honestly she couldn’t imagine staying in anything less than the best that was offered. And as a bonus it seemed as if her wife was also happy with the room they’d been given. While it wouldn’t have been something she’d chosen for herself, the resort that is, at least her spouse was enjoying herself.
“The view is quite lovely.” She let her gaze linger on Rachelle. Her high heels clicked against the hardwood floor as she made her way over to the barrier. Valentina was sure that the two of them looked magnificent, two towering goddesses bath in the golden light of the setting sun. “And as much as I would love to admire the view for the rest of the day we do have plans. Perhaps we should spend this little free time we have learning about one another. Unfortunately, our wedding didn’t give us enough time for that.”
Valentina thought back to the promise that she had made herself, about how she would try to make things work between Rachelle and herself. She was quite used to commanding the attention of her partners yet paying them little mind in order to focus on more important things. In her past relationships it was a constant game of push and pull. But now she would try to make an efforts to know Rachelle and give her the attention that she deserved from her. “We can start off with something simple, such as our child’s or even our favorite dishes. But we can also discuss the topic of this marriage and what we expect and want out of it.”
Vano Leander Silvanus
Guru of the Self
Hearing his husband's voice brush against his ears made him smile. The immense pleasure he got from knowing he brought the other male joy was addictive, even if it was coupled with embarrassment. Before fully giving his attention to the butler who seemed to be about to address him, Vano watched as the tension in the room grew due to the presence of the presumably fashionably late woman who already have him a difficult aura. While the couples were receiving their room assignments, as opposed to receiving their requested rooms, she seemed ready to cause a scene and that was disappointing to Vano. Tension is not healthy in any measure and he tries his best to avoid or dispel it. The husband and wife seemed to be upset with each other and were holding the anger in, which is another thing Vano disliked. Even he worked things out with Tobias about being late as soon as he could. He didn't intend to upset his new husband and they talked out the problem. Watching the woman so disrespectfully and condescendingly cupping and smacking her husband's cheek, Vano tugged on Tobias' hand again while he spoke to get his attention as he silently followed their selected butler who was indicating for them to follow. He knew who to avoid in the future. No sense putting himself in the danger of such negativity. “Yes Yes. I'm happy to be everywhere and anywhere with you.”
Following the butler through the wonderful scenery to their room, walking across a bridge that overlooked a breathtaking area of forest and the ocean. The smell of the salt water was comforting for Vano and it also made him excited. Waiting for Tobias to open the door with the key card, Vano took the chance to observe his new husband without him noticing. Tobias is a walking bundle of nerves and Vano was hopeful that he could help relieve at least some stress prior to dinner. Walking in after the door was opened, he let go of Tobias' hand and took a deep breath to fill his nose and lungs with the air around them as his smile grew to its largest on his face. His eyes sparkled as they grew while he immediately took notice of the lack of a fourth wall so the view of the outdoors was always available. Vano felt like the room was practically made for him. Sleeping outside was one of the most relaxing things anyone could do and this gave him the benefits of both the indoors and outdoors. Looking around, the infinity pool gave him ideas of fun, comfort, and relaxation as he got to know Tobias through the days and nights. The mosquito netted bed would give them even more reason to cuddle. Last but not least, the amenities and space were much more than he could have dreamed of. This was going to be an experience neither of them would forget.
Coming back down to earth, he turned to Tobias and grew concerned that the room would not be to his liking because of the lack of the wall. Tobias' exploration of the room was opposite to Vano's. Tobias explored with is eyes and Vano had been walking around like an overjoyed child. “Ar-” Before he could inquire about Tobias' thoughts, the man was already thinking about and requesting coffee. It did not bother Vano in the least. In actuality, it was unsurprising since they had undergone a lot in the past few days but the two of them did get plenty of sleep. Vano nodded before turning to lean against a railing to take in the view while the room filled with the smell of coffee. It was a nice scent but nothing more to him. Hearing Tobias dismiss Pirro, Vano turned and smiled to the butler with a tilt of his head, “Grazie signore. A presto!” Pirro left on his heel with a professional smile and let the door silently shut behind him.
No sooner did the door close did Tobias approach him to also take in the sights. “I adore this.” He placed his hand on Tobias' back and rubbed it lightly. “The room and the chance to share it with you.” He let the silence sit for only a moment to let that sink in before continuing. “I'll be sure to do what I can to make sure every aspect of this place is a true sanctuary for us both. Do you want to nap before dinner or will the coffee be enough?” He looked at the taller male with a twinge of concern. “Selfishly I'd like to sit and chat on the balcony in the reclining chair with you.” He gestured over to the area as the sun began to set. He then walked further into the room toward where he designated and noticed their luggage had been placed neatly by the bed. Pointing to it, he casually mentioned, “We can handle that later. I think relaxing is much more of a priority.” Walking over to a sink and getting a glass of water for himself, he leaned against the counter while sipping the refreshing liquid and waited to see what decision Tobias would make.
“- I would hate to hold you back from exploring the rest of the resort--''
Samir looked at his bride quizzically, she wanted to go to the bar? Without him? Never mind the fact that he didn’t drink but, weren’t they supposed to be spending time together? Had he come off too strong? The brunet shifted for a moment, unable to fully comprehend her desires. Confused and yet, still supportive, Samir took note of the woman’s sudden shift in demeanour. She looked nervous, as if prepared to run away at any moment. She really needed a break, and who was he to take that away from her? With a reassuring smile he nodded- albeit a little disheartened, and placed an endearing hand upon her shoulder.
“Okay. I will come look for you after I take shower. Have fun, angel~” He tested, slightly unsure if he could even call her that. Or if she even liked it. But on other hand, Quinn probably hadn’t even heard as she quickly scampered off from his side, like a little mouse scurrying back to it’s little hole. Chuckling, he watched fondly as she fled, paying absolutely no mind to the others whom- by the looks of it, seemed to be stirring quite the scene. Now, he didn’t know if it was crude or selfish to admit this but, he hadn’t made vows to them so really, they weren’t as important to him as Quinn was. Not right now at least.
Spinning on his heels, the man had nearly skipped off all by himself before stepping backwards and realizing that they indeed had a butler. Said butler being a rather wiry old man, who sported painfully narrowed eyes and a rather taut frown. Who took a piss in his coffee? Smiling sheepishly at the unfriendly-looking fellow, Sami followed as he wordlessly escorted him to their suite, suitcases dragging alongside as the awkwardness laid comfortably between them.
Within their journey, Samir had noticed a few cameras here and there and tried his best to remain as natural as possible. After all, he much rather preferred being behind the lens rather than being in front of it. And so, whenever one was pointed in his direction, the behemoth truly didn’t know how to act, like, at all. No really, all he did was stare with a completely dumfounded expression- much to the disappointment of his butler. Though it seemed to be enough considering that none of the fellow camera men continued to follow his wandering figure.
Finally at the entrance of their suite, Samir held back a loud gasp. For, although he’d spent his childhood at a very mountainous region, it was absolutely nothing compared to the scenery that laid ahead of him. Plopping down a spare bag and bidding the butler a small “Thank you,” Sami instantly rushed over to the balcony area, hands clasped tightly around the railing (he’d always been a little weary of heights) the man gawked. They had all this?? To themselves?? Quinn was going to love this. However, he was a little concerned of the lack of privacy. Sure, the suites were meters apart but they had a whole world staring back at them. Strange.
Prying himself from the balcony, Samir sighed a content sigh. He looked forward to spending some alone time here, but first, he needed a shower. Cautious enough to step behind one of the beams, Sami shrugged off most of his clothing before heading to his bathroom. He only had like what? An hour, two before they all had to reconvene? Well, might as well make the most of it.
Torn from her misguided daydreaming, Scout peered curiously at her budding companions, only to find that they were more or less staring at something- well, someone. She bit the inside of her cheek. Since when were goddesses allowed on this show?! Feeling a lot more self-conscious about her tattered appearance, Scout found herself shrinking back a few steps. After all, with a voice as striking as her ambiance, it was easy to fall into the shadows of this “Sammy Sweetheart.” The brunette looked around once more, not knowing what to make of an arrival grander than her own. Well, it seemed that the general consensus was that of distaste- including from her own husband (which quite honestly wasn’t surprising at all). But hey, given the large optimist she was, Scout was determined to at least give this woman a chance. Despite the fact that she looked as though she would’ve bullied an awkward fifteen-year-old Scout back in the day. Those were rough times.
Sparing one last glance at the dissipating group, Scout practically skipped beside her husband, whom, in his steely composition, looked handsome as ever. She was so lucky. However, within their haste, a rather large camera was pointed at them, followed by a man making silent but sharp gestures. She peered curiously over Teddy’s shoulder, having been completely eclipsed by his figure. Furrowing her brows, she internally questioned his rather staunch and sudden protectiveness. It was weird. But bearing the attention span of a child, she’d soon forgotten the thought as he shifted to her side, revealing a prepared smile (and peace sign- a photographic habit of hers) from none other than Scout. The rest of the journey had unraveled with little interruption as Scout chatted complete nonsense with their butler- Silva, whom she’d already befriended. He was nice.
Though his presence had only really lasted up until they’d entered their room- which holy mother of god-
There are no words to describe Scout’s thought process of that moment, none at all. Though it looked quite the same, with her jaw nearly unhinged and eyes glimmering at the sight. She’d nearly squealed when her widened eyes had traipsed over to the balcony- THE VIEW. Hell, this probably was the best part of their marriage- besides the husband thing. She now had so many opportunities for her artwork, hell, she already had a few ideas brewing up in that big head of hers. She turned to Teddy, who seemed to have a more subtle reaction. Complete opposites, they were.
Having half a mind to throw herself onto the bed, Scout absent-mindedly listened as he mentioned something along the lines of cleaning up. It was a good idea, she’d admit. After all, the artist doubted that her tardiness and overall lack of put-togetherness had painted the right impression, pun intended. “That’s fair,” she smiled “Can’t imagine hotel management being happy about me staining everything either sooooo I’ll probably hit the shower in a bit.” She shrugged nonchalantly, despite yearning to call it a premature night and hit the hay already. Today was going to be a long day. Although, perhaps it would be made better with this stranger by her side, at least she hoped.
....Or not. To say that she was disappointed would be an understatement. Her eyes followed the very hand that’d very narrowly missed her face (and would’ve resulted in a sweet gesture) as it retreated back to it’s owner. Not againnnnn. And yet, she still tried her very best to keep a frown from slipping out, despite feeling so discouraged. After all, not everyone was like her, that she’d learned long before. Perhaps he just needed some time to get accustomed to things, they did have loads of that left. Either that or she smelled. Which, by the looks of it, was just as much as a possibility as well.
"If you want, I can leave the room to give you your privacy. I know that things have been moving a little fast in the last couple of days, and I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
In a weird Teddy-like way, that last sentence was touching. Hell, it almost made Scout feel guilty for being all sulky about his lack of um, emotional capacity. This showed that he did care- well, enough to be considerate. As for the actual question, she was as lost as the next person. After all, she’d never really lived with anyone besides a few roommates and the one time she’d pursued a romantic type thing it was a disaster. Dude snored wayyyy too much.
“Erm, I’m going to take a shower so I doubt I’d be able to provide any company for awhile,” she began sheepishly, hand scratching away at the nape of her neck. “But uh, you could stay if you want- or not. It’s just uh, I don’t really know how this all works.” She laughed, admitting her lack of experience. “Just do what feels right I guess~” offering a beyond vague sentence that she practically lived by, Scout shrugged before reaching for a bag (which hopefully had some spare clothes) and steadily made her way to the bathroom. She has a lot to process, and hopefully a quick shower would help.
Rachelle felt almost embarrassed by her excitement about the room and how it looked. She wasn’t one to tend to be ashamed of herself, but her wife was so far from what would usually be in her little world. She almost forgot that people like Valentina had existed when she signed up for this show, never expecting someone so… different from her. She had expected someone different, of course, she knew how this show worked. She’d just never expected… someone so affluent, so nonchalant about things like this. It wasn’t a big deal, the room itself, except that it was a place Rachelle would probably have never been if it hadn’t been for the show.
Thankful there were no cameras in their room at that moment (though sure that would change), a blush came to her face at her wife’s suggestion to learn about one another. Not that she didn’t want to do that (of course she did – to learn about this beautiful woman that she could very well spend the rest of her life with would be a gift), she just wasn’t sure how she felt about her sense of wonder being dismissed so easily. Of course, she wouldn’t have stood there all day just looking in the first place, and was excited to get to know her wife, so she tried to quickly ignore those feelings (it wasn’t a big issue and who knows, her wife might be just as nervous as she was).
Valentina’s suggestions for conversation topics were… interesting. Not that someday she wouldn’t want to learn about it all, but her childhood was specifically a tough topic for her, and their marriage was kind of a difficult topic to breach so early in this experiment. Not that she wasn’t interested in talking about it, but if Valentina had a solid answer for that, she felt a little embarrassed, because she didn’t. Not really. Other than a last shot in the dark at love, which she wasn’t sure was a very romantic or desirable answer, but the only one that she had to offer. Why did any of them sign up for the show, anyway? Despite their short time until the next thing they had to do, she figured they could at least talk a little about their childhoods. That was a topic that could honestly tell a lot about each other, and it was kind of cute to learn about other people's childhoods usually. Plus, hers wasn't particularly traumatic... just not quite what she would have wanted.
She took a step away from the barrier, not wanting to death grip it anymore, but not too far away from her wife, and faced her. “Do you want to sit down and talk? I’d very much like to learn about you.” She gave her wife a smile as she went to sit on the small couch and thought about where to even start.
“Well, you’ve met my parents, so you know how they are a little bit. Kind of rugged,” she laughed, scratching her arm and looking down. “I grew up in a small town in the US, so nothing too spectacular really happened. I actually never really left Kentucky until more recently, and this is probably the furthest I’ve ever been.”
She leaned back and looked up at Valentina, giving her a small smile. “What about you? What was your childhood like?”
Tobias Bäcker
The lonely Workaholic
The coffee was as good as it had smelled. Tobias happily sipped from it, while standing next to his husband and watching the breathtaking nature in front of them. He blushed as those words of the other adoring this moment and sharing it with him. Or perhaps it was that touch to his lower back that made him blush. That hand didn't travel downwards though, as many lovers hands went. The few ladies he had dated always loved to give him a surprise squeeze or just put their hand in his backpocket, but despite being rather physical, Vano had yet to cross such boundaries. All touches and kisses had just been sweet and affectionated... Yet how long would it stay like that? They were married after all, and they had not consummated their marriage yet. Vano's soft voice however pushed those worries from this thoughts again as he asked whether or not he wished to take a nap. In all honesty? A nap didn't sound wrong, but Tobias was not so sure he would wake up refreshed and happy to socialize...
Silently the German dismissed the idea, while Vano suggested something more selfish. Not that he heard anything selfish in those words that followed. "I think, you may have mixed the meaning of selfish up with something else," he said with a gentle smile. He watched the other walk through the room once more, as he took a sip from his espresso. His guru husband almost had him so far to follow to that reclining chair and the lovely patio set up in the setting sun when the other made the mistake to point out their unpacked bags. So casually Vano walked past them with the comment that they could handle that later, but how could he even start to relax while knowing there was still some unpacking to do? For a moment he was caught between wanting to please his husband and wanting to put his own mind at rest, and selfish as he was, his mind won. "How about a compromise?"
Tobias finished the last bit of his coffee and went to the little sink. He quickly rinsed it out and washed it with some hot water and soap he found. "You go sit and enjoy the sun, and we will chat, while I do the unpacking?" He looked over at his husband, while drying the coffee cup. Once it was spotless clean again, he brought it over to the coffeemachine and put it next to it in the empty spot it had left behind before. He absolutely wouldn't mind if Vano did not help him, he would actually prefer that quite a bit. He disliked it when people interfered with his order of things, and he had the feeling that he and Vano were not gonna be on one line on how to unpack and how to put things away. So he much rather would do it all on his own. Assuming he would have full access to his husbands luggage. Hopefully there were no embarrassing things in his suitcase, things that would help with consummating the marriage for instance.
There his brain went again. A nervous skip in his heartbeat as he grabbed the first suitcase, his own of course. His thumbs moved quickly along it and the sound of two clacks followed, before he opened up the lid. His clothes were all perfectly folded of course, Marie Kondo would have been an happy woman to see it. One corner was designated for all the toiletries and he carefully took the little bag out and put it aside. Underneath it, Tobias had packed his little foldable containers. Perfect to keep his socks and boxers in all neat without them rolling around or getting messy when put loose in the wardrobe. The other one he had taken along with his husband in mind. "So what do you want to chat about, Vano?" His eyes moving up to look at the male. His earlier compromise had not been made without the intention to follow up on it. He did want to chat with his husband, he had enjoyed their late night conversation in bed. But he just was horrible at coming up with subjects or starting of a conversation. He would be fine once they were into it, but at the very beginning... He just had no idea what to ask of Vano. Or perhaps he was too scared to breach the subject that came floating back around again, the only subject neither of them had brought up at all. The conversation of sex, of how much experience the other had, for he seemed to be a lot more natural in the physical department of the relationship.
Owen Elias Benson
Since the moment he’d said yes to this entire program, it had seemed to Owen like the world was moving at hyper-speed, and he was just along for the ride. After he’d said yes, a camera crew had showed up to conduct a preliminary interview, and then they’d given him an itinerary for the program and ushered him to pack. Still half in disbelief that his sisters had signed him up for this and even more shocked by the fact that he’d decided to go through with it, Owen had gone into his bedroom and stowed a few weeks’ worth of clothes into a duffel bag. He’d taken another look around his simple bedroom before grabbing his handgun off the dresser and heading back downstairs to the crew waiting to transport him to airport. On his way down the stairs, Owen tucked the small black pistol into his waistband and settled his shirt over top of it.
Once he walked back into the living room where the crew waited, they ushered Owen out the waiting vehicle that would chauffer him to the Denver Airport, asking him for a list of the ten people he wanted to bring with him. Thankful they’d given him enough slots to bring everyone important to him, Owen had rattled off the names of his siblings, father, and three best friends before sliding into the black SUV that was transporting him to the airport. The ride there and the plane ride to Los Angeles International that followed passed seemingly in a blur, though Owen made sure to use his few private hours on the plane to get a bit of sleep. He knew the next few days were going to be long, though he hoped in a good way.
He was put up in a swanky hotel room in the city for the night, and the people running the program had left him with nothing more than a time to be ready to leave for the wedding ceremony in the morning. Owen felt they were a little flippant about the fact that they were going to be televising the marriages of several strangers the following day, but knew it was only a projection of his own nervousness about the events to come. Everything had been moving so fast since his saying yes that he hadn’t had very much time up until now to really think about what he was walking into. Sitting in his hotel room the night before the wedding, Owen had thought about his wife-to-be.
Primarily, he wondered what her name was. To Owen, names were one of the most important pieces of a person. Someone’s name defined their identity. It was the very center of who they were, so he was eager to find out the name of the woman he would soon be married to. Then he wondered what she looked like. Was she blonde? Brunette? Redhead? Did she have blue eyes, or green eyes, or brown ones? Was she tall? Short? What was her smile like? Was it one of those adorable, quirky smiles with the cheek dimples like his younger sister Cara had, or was it like bright and beautiful and breathtaking, like Katy’s had been? He wondered what she was like, whether she was polite and kind like he hoped, bitchy and selfish like his father expected, or pretty and timid like his sisters wanted for him. Most prominent for him, however, was his wonder of whether she would be able to handle the burdens of being married to a soldier.
Eventually, Owen had fallen asleep. He woke with the sun the next morning, and by the time the program people had come to take him to the ceremony, Owen was already dressed in his chosen suit. It was his official formal military uniform, displaying all his medals and honors from his service so far, as well as displaying his rank. He had always desired to get married in his uniform, as it not only made him feel closer to his mother, but meant a lot to him after the years of his life he’d given, and still planned to give, to his country. Owen loved his job, and it was shown in nearly every aspect of his life.
However, upon arriving at the venue for his ceremony, he was informed by one of the program staff that his bride had requested he wear her choice in tuxedo. Owen hadn’t even entertained the request. Considering he had yet to even meet her, Owen was reluctant to upset her, but though there were a lot of things about his wedding he was willing to allow her to decide, his suit wasn’t one of them, and neither as the wedding ring he’d be putting on her finger. Once he’d made that decision, he’d been escorted to the altar, and he had very little time to stand there with only his nerves to keep him company before the doors opened to reveal the woman he was marrying.
There was absolutely no disputing that she was beautiful. She was tall, with long, gorgeous black hair and stunning blue eyes he could see from all the way across the room. She had lightly tanned skin, sinful lips, and a body most men would spend hours drooling over. Physically, she was an absolute angel, and were he the type of man to care only about a woman’s looks, he would have been thanking his lucky stars in that moment. Owen, however, wasn’t that type of man, and he knew he would have to get to know the person that she was before he could make a real judgement about her. Part of him worried she may be selfish due to her request that he adhere to her choice in wardrobe, but he restrained himself from making unfair judgements before he knew her.
The ceremony had flown by, during which he’d learned her name: Samara Medici. It was a beautiful name, and nicknames had immediately popped into his head. He had a habit of coming up with nicknames when he met new people—a byproduct of countless days in the desert in the Arabian Peninsula with a group of bored young men. He found that he liked her name, and he hoped the positive trend continued as they got to know each other. He spoke his vows to her with genuine warmth and promise, captivated by her blue eyes as he slid his mother’s wedding ring onto her finger. Owen was the last of four brothers in the family to be married, but he found out that morning before the ceremony when it was dropped into his hand that his mother had left her ring to him. He hoped that he wouldn’t regret trusting Sammi with valuing it when he told her what it was. It was a simple ring, with only a few diamonds and a single gold band, but it was beautiful to him, and he hoped it would be beautiful to her.
Their first kiss had been pleasant, if not a little awkward due to their lack of familiarity, and then the ceremony was over, and they married. Owen had taken a moment to let that settle in, and then walked at his wife’s side to the location of their reception. He was glad to see there weren’t too many people attending and met Samara’s attending family members and friends with a charming smile. When it came time to introduce her to his family, he was glad to see his father be pleasant despite his doubts and his brothers keep their opinions to themselves. Introducing her to his friends had been an interesting few moments, as all three had been falling all over themselves upon meeting who they described as “an angel whose beauty Owen was unworthy of”. Once all the introductions were out of the way, they’d enjoyed dinner, during which they’d talked a bit, and then shared their first dance.
The night had ended quickly after that, and they’d shared a hotel room for the night before flying First Class to the Caribbean first thing the next morning. The flight there and the short Jeep ride from the airport to the resort where their honeymoon would take place were spent in comfortable silence, which Owen didn’t mind, and before he knew it, they were pulling up along a bunch of identical jeeps outside the resort. Owen, ever the gentleman, had opened Samara’s door for her and then taken their bags from the staff member who pulled them from the car. He wasn’t one to let people carry his or his wife’s things for them, even if it was their job. He’d followed Samara into the building, taking a few moments once they entered to look at the other couples who stood around choosing their butlers and getting their room assignments for the upcoming three weeks.
Owen had known just from his first impression of his wife since they’d been married that she was going to prefer one of the resort’s more luxurious Galaxy suites as soon as the program staff had shown them their two possible rooms, so he hoped that would be what was given to them right off the bat. However, it seemed his luck wasn’t with him at the time, and it seemed that only Sun rooms were left. He asked Samara kindly if she would settle for one of the less luxurious rooms, which had earned him nothing but a gentle, but disrespectful slap on the cheek and the confirmation that his earlier worries were correct. Samara was selfish, especially when she believed she wasn’t getting her way. He kept his displeasure quiet, gritting his teeth at the sympathetic or pitying stares of the other couples as they headed up to their own rooms. He disliked that Samara had made enough of a spectacle of herself to earn the attention of just about everyone in the room, and his annoyance spiked when she turned her attention to the camera. He had quickly come to realized that his new wife was also a huge fan of attention.
When they were told the rooms had been randomized and they had received a Galaxy suite, thus making Samara’s outburst pointless, Owen felt the humiliation poking at him, but made it a point to ignore it. He didn’t want to start their honeymoon in a state of irritation. Thanking the head housekeeper, Owen had greeted one of the last remaining butlers, a pretty young woman named Melinda, and followed her upstairs to their room with Samara at his side. Once they were there, Owen set their bags down on the bed and assured Melinda they were fine for now before he saw her to the door. Once she was gone, Owen turned to look at the room.
He had to admit, even though he still preferred a colder honeymoon destination, Saint Lucia was a beautiful place, and Jade Mountain was a very nice resort, though it clearly catered to newly wed audiences. Once he was finished taking in the room and the view, Owen turned to look at his new wife. His earlier irritation was gone, chased away the beauty and serenity of his surroundings, so his smile was genuine when he looked at her. Running a nervous hand through his hair, he spoke up.
“Is there anything specific you wanted to do before dinner? Take a walk, tour the resort—anything?”
In all honesty, the crew wasn't really sure of what they should do with the humming figure of Quinn that did not outwardly appear drunk but was internally plastered. Quinn had always considered it one of her greatest blessing from someone in the clouds looking out for her that she could handle her alcohol just enough to not slur but would definitely do things outside of her character. Such as singing. Which is about to occur in 3, 2, 1..... and there she goes
There was a strong sense of confusion throughout as they all collectively wondered the same thing 'Where the hell did she get a wireless microphone from??' The camera director saw a chance to break away from the mundane mood that had settled. Most of the couples had dispersed to their own living quarters and the footage they had captured from the initial gathering was dull in her eyes. So of course she had just misplaced the microphone by Quinn and miraculously connected her phone and the microphone to the PA system that would play throughout the entire building. Quinn continued to hum until she finally found the song she wanted Juice by Iyla. The song began as Quinn swayed on her bar stool waiting to started.
It was time, and she lowly sang the first lines ''I wasn't looking for you when you came along, when you came in.'' Shocked was the only way to describe the reaction of those present. Before filming, all the contestants had been asked of any talents or skills they had in order to plan appropriate events. Not once did singing appear on Quinn's profile so this really came out of left field. Once she finished and was satisfied with her performance she turned to the camera, smiled, and then dropped the mic.
Quinn turned around, and basically skipped her way upstairs to go see Samir. Her alcohol ridden brain was telling her that it has been too long since she's seen him and that she needed to check on him. Of course it would have been too much for her to walk in the correct room, she just went with whatever door felt like it would be theirs. ''Samir what are you up to-....'' It took a second before she realized that she had wandered into Theo and Scout's room. ''Ah you aren't Sami... don't get me wrong though, both of y'all are very cute and attractive, just not who I was looking for. Sorry for the intrusion.''
Theodore Huiliang Liu
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The buzzing of his ringtone snapped Theo out of his thoughts. Pulling out his phone, he saw that the call was from his mother. Sitting down gingerly in an expensive-looking chair and accepting the call, Theo held the phone up to his ear, switching back to Cantonese as he ran a hand through his hair. "Hello, mother." Theo's mother, in her usual doting manner, spoke back at him. She sounded light-hearted enough. "Good afternoon, son. How's the honeymoon going? How's my darling daughter-in-law doing?" Theo sighed and shrugged his shoulders. "Not much has happened yet; it's only the first day. Scout's taking a shower, she had a little trouble in the morning." Theo could practically hear his mother pouting through the sound of her voice. "Poor dear, must've had a long day. You take care of her, you understand? Her every need is to be met! I won't have the family name sullied by your own shiftless laziness." Damn, you'd think Scout was her own daughter; it's only been like 4 days. Biting back his sarcasm, Theo responded. "Of course, mother. I -" A muffled droning sound started echoing through the phone, followed by what sounded like screaming. Power tools? "I-... What's going on? Is everything alright?" Theo's mother laughed her usual tinkling laugh. "Oh, your father's just, ah, talking to a local businessman. The idiot thought he could embezzle money from the Harbor district's weekly protection money. Here, I'll put your dad on the phone." Opening his mouth, Theo clamped it shut as his grip on the phone tightened. This is unbelievable.
After a moment of silence, the sound of muffled screaming and the whirring of power tools stopped. The voice of Theo's father grated at him through the phone. "Your mother says you're doing well. That true?" Theo responded. "Yes, father." Theo's father grunted. "Eat well, don't die." The whirring of machinery and the screaming continued as Theo's mother took the phone back. Father always has a magical way with words. Stunning eloquence is his forte. "Have you given any thought to your father and I's proposal? The one about you formally joining the family business after the honeymoon?" Theo remained silent. Sensing that she'd struck a nerve, Theodore's mother continued. "I'm sure you'll come around to it. Theodore, enjoy your honeymoon. When you're done, we'll all be waiting for you with a spot in the Shui Fong Triad's board of directors! There's a lot of work to be done; troublesome competitors to drive out, stubborn government officials to bribe, and other trifling little things. But I know you'll do us all proud when the time comes. Say hello to Scout for your father and me." The distorted screaming in the background reached a crescendo right before his mother hung up without waiting for Theo's response. Theo tossed his phone to the side and kneaded his eyes with the palms of his hands. Sliding down in the chair, he halfheartedly rehearsed what he would've said had he mustered the courage or initiative. "I want to contribute to society. Maybe I'll even go back to college. I don't want to be a glorified gang leader. I've never wanted it. You two have pushed me towards it for my whole damn life, and you couldn't even keep it out of your mouths for one day." Aside from the sound of running water from the bathroom, the room was quiet. Yeah, you tell 'em Theo.
As the door to the bathroom opened, Theo forced a smile and did his best to patch up his damaged mood. Aware that he probably looked like he'd been stung by a bee, Theodore stood up and took a few tentative steps toward Scout, stopping short. "So, uh, how was the shower?"
Before either of them could say anything, the door crashed open as a woman staggered unevenly into the room. Of course. As the figure reeled, straightened up, and apologized, Theo shot a glance at Scout, who looked as surprised as he was. Recognizing the new arrival as a fellow contestant from that morning, Theo cocked an eyebrow and summoned the last dregs of sociability he had left in his body. "I don't believe we've had the, ah, pleasure of meeting. I'm Teddy." Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Theo cursed under his breath. "I mean, I'm Theodore." Quickly turning to Scout, he hoped she'd be able to continue in a more cheerful manner.
By the time Samir had planted his feet back onto the hardwood, he’d found that his wife had still yet to emerge from the bar. This concerned him greatly, after all, Quinn hadn’t appeared to be a rampant drunk nor particularly irresponsible, so something must’ve been up. Had the nerves gotten to her? Hell, had someone gotten to her? He could only imagine the kinds of people that roamed such a lavish resort, though his anxious mind had failed to concoct an innocent individual. He had to go find her. Now.
And so, with his waves still slightly damp and green eyes caught ablaze, he set himself to work. Half-shielded by a towel as he rummaged through his luggage in search of something a tad bit more presentable. Although, Samir would be lying if he said that the thought of searching for his wife completely naked wasn’t the least bit hilarious. Why it’d definitely give the producers more to work with, that’s for sure. Weirdly enough though, there was something thrilling (and equally terrifying) about having to rescue his wife from the hands of an ill-intentioned villain. He chuckled to himself, suddenly realizing that the boy he’d once been had made a brief return in thinking as such. He would be Superman today- or at least, try to be.
Sneakered feet padded against the many boardwalks and floors that the resort held, each step even quicker than the last. Where was she?! A quick look around the bar had shown no sign of his beloved Quinn, and lord knows that the producers were as useless as they could get. In fact, they’d even had the audacity to follow him around during all of his frustration, one lens panning onto the next. It was as infuriating as it was disrespectful, so much that Samir could feel his feeble temper beginning to rise... This was not going to end well. And so, quickly zig-zagging his way from the bar and back to the pathway, Samir steeled himself. He’d already called Quinn a few times but she hadn’t answered, so the only other viable option laid on the cooperation of his counterparts... Perhaps they’d seen her?
And so, room to room he went, barely a foot in each entrance as he sheepishly introduced himself with his broken english and daunting frame, every introduction ending with the same mission statement. Quinn. Unfortunately however, many of the star-studded couples had politely turned him away, sympathizing as they returned to... Whatever it was that they’d been doing. Others were a little less potent though, simply shrugging Samir off as if he were just another mere interference. He could already tell that a few of them were bound to butt heads, and explosively so... Damn.
However, the more he returned empty-handed, the more his worry and discouragement began to grow. After all, he only had one room left and by the looks of it- wait, was that Quinn?! Approaching with loud footsteps, the woman’s sweet sing-songy voice seemed to echo with drunken delight, therefore bringing a small smile to his lips. She was SO not sober. And just like that, all of his worries seemed to vanish as the man found himself nearing the entrance, knocking on a nearby beam as to alert the kind strangers and of course, his inebriated wife.
“Ah, I am sorry to interrupt,” he began, entering reluctantly once he recognized the slight tension within the atmosphere. Uh oh. “I am Quinn’s husband, Samir, it is nice to meet you both.” He expressed politely, placing two large hands on Quinn’s shoulders as to subtly nudge her away from the volcanic scene. He could only imagine the kind of things she’d accidentally said or done in his absence. “I was worried for you,” he spoke, briefly peering down at the woman through a softened expression. “We should go, dinner is soon. But yes,” he affirmed, thereby redirecting his attention back to the couple “thank you both for-for keeping watch...” he chuckled “She is a little-how you say- drunk?” He glanced at her once more, a grin brimming his face. “Anyway, we will see you at dinner, goodbye.”
The shower had done well to ease her once constricted muscles- hell, she hadn’t even realized just how wound-up she’d been up until now. Now with the paint marks and brush strokes soaked from her skin, Scout still looked like Scout mind you, but a helluva lot more rejuvenated. She could only imagine what sort of witchcraft a full night’s rest would do. She really really really needed it. And so, having fallen into the depths of yet another daydream, the brunette hadn’t picked up on the small conversation coming from the outside, nor had she realized that Teddy had stayed until she was out of the shower. It was surprising to say the least.
Clad in her favorite pjs (ultimately revealing that she’d taken the wrong bag) Scout had appeared completely dazed before her husband. In fact, it wasn’t until he’d spoken in which she’d realized that he was standing right there and she was wearing pjs on what was supposed to be a romantic afternoon... Pjs. She was never going to emotionally recover from this. “Oh the shower was gr-“
However, just as she was about to express her trademark enthusiasm and delve into every detail on every aspect about her shower, a rather sudden presence announced itself.
Spinning to look at Quinn with a dumbfounded expression, it seemed that Teddy had been quick to adjust to the surprise. Like, weirdly quick. She watched curiously as the man introduced and then reintroduced himself, emitting a strong sense of agitation and anxiety in doing so.... What the hell happened to him? Trying not to worry over the state of her husband (whom currently seemed to be at his wits’ end) Scout appeared before the woman with the brightest smile she could muster. “Hi! I’m Scout and you must be.... Quinn was it? That’s such a pretty name! “ taking the obviously drunken woman’s hands into her own, Scout did what Scout did best: spew absolute nonsense until an opportunity presented itself. She babbled on and on about the beauty of the resort and even the beauty of Quinn (she was quite good at flattery) until there was really nothing more to talk about. It was impressive really, even more so that Scout still had more to say by the time Samir had shown up.
The artist smiled fondly as the man reunited with his wife, heart gushing at the way he treated her with the utmost care and affection. It was unfair really, why did she always end up with the grumpy ones?? Sending a knowing smile over to Teddy, she wondered if he’d found their relationship as equally endearing as she had, or if he even cared for that matter. Although, something told her that he wasn’t really paying that much attention- which was fair considering that she’d gone on a rant earlier.
“-It was nice meeting you both! Bye!” She waved gleefully as the tall man excused the both of them, an enchanted sigh leaving her lips before she turned toward the looming presence that was her Teddy.
“Now are you going to tell me what’s wrong?”
