NcPXy64.jpg

Name: John Haverson

Age: 46

Rank: Colonel, Pathfinder Expeditionary Corp

Gender: Male

Physical Description:
Tall, rugged and deeply tanned, John would be a PR Officer's dream for the next recruitment campaign. The Colonel stands at 6'3 and weights in at approximately 220lbs. Despite being in his mid-forties John still maintains a muscular physique and is in better shape than most men half his age. The progress of time cannot be completely ignored however; grey hair is clear on his temples and laughter lines tug at the corner of each eye and furrow his brow. Neither feature could be considered a blemish but add to a distinguished handsomeness.

Personality:
John is cool and relaxed in his dealings and rarely gets flustered. When dealing with a problem he will take an analytic approach but has been known to dive straight into certain situations if the only danger presented is to himself. Socially he can be considered a bit of a ‘charmer’ and is as comfortable in a bar full of rowdy Marines as he is at the latest Embassy function. Given the choice however, he would choose the bar every time.

History:
Growing up an only child in San Francisco, John was accomplished pupil and star athlete. After graduating college, he took a divergent step and enrolled in the Coalition Navy's Officer Candidate School. An idealist of sorts, John had always been inspired by the tales of the Navy, fighting against the evil of humanity while reaching out into the farthest reaches of the Galaxy. He enlisted with the intention of serving a short stretch and then moving on with skills gained from his time with the military and his degree. He volunteered and was accepted for Officer training with the Marines, despite vocal protests from his Father who had felt a position serving as an Officer on a Coalition ship would be safer than being stuck in the dirt with a squad of 'grunts'.

He was assigned to the notoriously tough 103rd Marine Division as a 2nd Lieutenant and proved to be a capable young Officer, rising steadily through the ranks, displaying a mature competency, willingness to learn and good leadership abilities. He saw combat pirates and Mercenary groups in the Kesling Verge and was awarded the Bronze Star for saving his squad from an ambush by a group of pirates who had recently attacked a human colony on Terra Una.

As his rise through the ranks continued, so did his responsibilities. He transferred from his position in the Marines onto the SSV Belfast with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Ship side duty quickly wore thin. Within a year John applied for the Pathfinder Corps, and was able to successfully navigate the exhaustive round of competency tests, exams and practical and theoretical exercises.

Name: Nova "Mako" Marlett

Age: 31

Rank: Captain, Pathfinder Expeditionary Corps

Gender: Female

Physical Description: Nova is Caucasian with a smattering of freckles across her soft face. She stands at 5'5" and weighs in around 123 lbs, which she maintains by swimming when off duty. Her shoulder-length red hair is normally pulled into a bun to maintain proper uniform, though she prefers to let it hang loose when possible. Her eyes are a warm brown.

Personality: Nova is an adventurous woman who enjoys living on the edge of her seat with serious injury just a mistake or two away. While she maintains a professional attitude when necessary, Nova much prefers an informal way of interacting. Highly competitive, she finds her stride when there is glory to be gained. While calm under pressure, her mind works faster than her mouth and she can fail to fully express an idea in the heat of the moment. And while Nova is nice to be around, those who meet in her in passing believe her to be a spitfire.

Background: Born on Mars, Nova grew surrounded by fast cars and mechanical parts. Her father, Sire Marlett, was a professional racer and her mother, Victoria, was his mechanic, and both encouraged Nova to follow in her father's footsteps. Though, when she was eight, Nova revealed that she had no interest in her father's profession. When her parents asked why, Nova said that cars weren't fast enough. When asked what was faster than a car, she replied, "A spaceship." Her parents agreed that flying a spaceship was a better job.

In school, Nova set about having a stellar record. She got straight A's in school, was captain of her school's swim team, and actively participated in volunteer work in her community. She earned her Sport Pilot license while 16 and her Private Pilot license on her 17th birthday. After graduating high school, she graduated college with a Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science and Space Transport. Afterwards, she enlisted into the Navy and started the long process to become a Naval Aviator. Nova succeeded and was rated to fly fighters in combat scenarios.

After achieving her dream, Nova realized the truth: pilots didn't fly every day. They didn't even fly every other month. It was a letdown, but still, Nova endured. However, after being passed over for several promotions because of her "addiction to adrenaline," Nova started looking for ways to end her service early. It was at this time Nova was approached by the Pathfinder initiative, with a promised rank increase and ability once a month at the minimum. Nova accepted.

As a Pathfinder, Nova flew a dozen missions in two years. Outside of her missions, she's test flown three test craft and performed four training runs with new Pathfinder members. Happy with her newfound profession, Nova is considering reenlisting after her next mission and making a life out of her service.

Personal Information: Nova's hobby is decrypting code ciphers. She says it helps keep her mind sharp, though she really just likes word and math puzzles.

Nova speaks English and Russian, understands and can use Coalition Sign Language, and knows enough Mandarin to dock with any station in the known universe.

She has several tattoos. A Mako shark serves as a back piece and a Roman Centurion helmet on her left shoulder.

Nova is happily married to Yvonne Marlett. Nova met Yvonne in college, they married after Nova finished her flight training, and they have two children together, five-year-old Willow and three-year-old Ivan.

Name
: Moire Ryan

Age: 29

Rank: Gunnery Sergeant, Pathfinder Expeditionary Corps

Gender: Female

Physical Description: Moire's frame is lean and action packed, with the kind of calculated stroll that suggests equal parts formation marching and sudden death on two feet. Standing at 5'7", she masses a surprising 192 pounds mostly owing to extensive cybernetic reworking. Now that she's in the Pathfinder Expeditionary Corp, Moire's opted to grow her black hair out, though it's kept braided and tucked beneath a helmet on field ops.

Personality: Moire is surprisingly cheerful for a career noncom with her history. Every good Marine division has a few like her. She's the one who doesn't quit, the one who cheers on flagging teammates and doesn't leave a man behind. Her psych tests indicate she's got a perfectly stable personality and she certainly doesn't think of herself as an adrenaline junkie. Nonetheless, she keeps finding herself in ridiculously lethal situations and repeated experience has given her an optimistic attitude that doesn't quit no matter how bad things get. She's professional with officers, relaxed with fellow noncoms and playfully respectful of civilians.

Background: From infancy, Moire was a patriot. She was a soldier from a family of soldiers, with five older brothers who enlisted before she did. Her schooling was inconsequential, especially to her; the only thing she had her heart set on was joining the Coalition Marines. As soon as she was old enough to enlist, she signed up for the infantry division and was almost immediately deployed off world. She spent two years with the 72nd Marine Division out past Proxima Centurai, learning the basics of soldiering while providing colony security and hunting pirates.

Exceptional performance, and her own interest, led to her receiving her Scout Sniper MOS by the age of 21. She spent another tour of duty with the 103rd Marine Division out in the Kesling Verge where she found her real niche; surviving hostile worlds and natives. Though she'd had solid environmental survival training, Moire had the outstanding luck to pull three separate Marine support detachments that went to hell, two of which resulted in surviving different species of horse-sized bugs while keeping a colony and two scientific expeditions alive. She went in for advanced training in hell-world survival and served admirably in assignments no one else wanted. At least until her luck ran out.

At the age of 27, Moire was part of a platoon of Marines on Beta Agnae protecting a terraforming operation getting off the ground from a rather hideous form of lizard life. A 50 year storm wrecked the base's perimeter and allowed the monsters to swarm, killing most of the Marines and half of the terraforming crew. Moire herself was one of four marines who successfully evacuated the remaining civilians, but not before succumbing to the alien venom of three of those lizards. Although she barely survived the toxin, by the time she was shipped somewhere with adequate medical facilities, the venom had destroyed her somatic nervous system leaving her utterly crippled.

She qualified for a unique nanotechnological augmentation, owing to the nature of her injury, and became one of the few Coalition soldiers with a fully functional TARSNS Implant. It took a year of physical therapy to recondition her body and acclimate to the carbon composite running her nervous system now. By that point, the Pathfinder Expeditionary Corps offered her a position given her liking for alien worlds and her penchant for living through them. The chance to do something new, and a chance to leave old traumatic baggage behind, made the job irresistible and Moire's been an enthusiastic proponent of the Pathfinder mission ever since.

TARSNS Implant: (Technotise Alpha Replacement for the Somatic Nervous System): This experimental nanotechnology features iron carbon composite alloy rods with micro conductors several molecules thin branching into node clusters every millimeter of her body. It began with a set of embedded chip circuits grafted to the alpha motor neurons of her brainstem. Within a month of activation, it'd established a parallel nervous system, effectively bypassing the damage Moire sustained to her original nervous system. The micro conductors near the skin end in sensors grouped in the same way as her real nerves, replicating their function and emulating all sensation she'd normally feel. This unique augmentation has a number of effects:
Nervous System Enhancement: Moire can dial up or down the sensitivity of her nerves reflexively, thanks to the TARSNS adaptive circuit in her brainstem. This allows her to largely ignore pain when necessary. It can also increase her sensitivity to touch, though she's largely found little success applying that feature to her professional life.
Musculoskeletal Augmentation: Over the past two years, the implant has largely replaced most of her bones and some of her muscles with iron carbon composite, making her incredibly durable (if somewhat heavier). Additionally, the implant's complete control over her somatic nervous system means its able to maximize muscle contraction time and force, giving her explosive lift and push abilities as well as inhuman running speeds. Moire's still human brain sadly lacks the speed for truly superhuman reaction time.
EMP Sensitive. The iron carbon composite of the implant is resistant to uncontrolled electrical surges, as is the TARSNS impant itself. However, sufficiently strong voltage (to say nothing of an actual EMP strike) are enough to shut the circuit down. Until the implant is rebooted, Moire is effectively paralyzed once more.

Personal Information:
  • Moire is fluent in English and Mandarin, and has picked up a smattering of Russian, a little Farsi and can swear to humorous effect in several more.
  • She has five older brothers, all of whom she keeps in touch with whenever she has the chance.
  • Her quarters show evidence of her favorite hobby; painting. Moire's especially fond of breathtakingly nightmarish landscapes that concern counselors but just make her smile as she illustrates places no other human eye has ever seen.

Christopher Daemon Olsen
980x.png
Great opportunities are worth the risk.
unknown
Name: Christoper Daemon Olsen
Age: 33 years
Rank: Security Personnel/ Chef, Pathfinder Expeditionary Corps
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Well built and ready to go at any time, Christoper try his best to stay in shape. Standing at 6'4 and weighing 210, Christopher is pretty confident with his body figure. Most days Christopher will keep his hair pulled back out of his face since he knows his hair can get everywhere is not kept tamed in a bun.
Nicknames: Chris, Though he prefers if only people he's close to calls him that.
Personality: Christoper is a very charming and compassionate man. He's very charismatic and he enjoys being cheery and spending time with people. Though his main duty is security he enjoys spending any extra time he has helping other staff and figuring out ways to make their days better, even if it's something small. His passion of cooking gives him great opportunities to make treats and goodies to hopefully cheer up some of the crew when they are low, and his passion with guns helps him protect the crew he finds company and friendship with.
History: Christopher was born on Earth in Pittsburg Pennslyvania and lived with his mother for the majority of his life growing up. His father traveled from planet to planet and wasn't in Christopher's life until he was about thirteen. Once his father had settled down, Christopher's mother would send him up to live with his father on Mars during the summers. She believed that it would be best for him to have a male role model, such as his father, but Christopher wasn't the most ecstatic about meeting the guy who had left him in the dark for thirteen years.

When Christopher first started to visit and live with his father, life was difficult. Earth wasn't exactly like Mars and Christopher had to get used to being away from his mother and her companionship. That and his father wasn't much of a "role model" in Christopher's eyes. His father didn't talk much, nor did he cook or have the social skills of his mother. So the beginning nights with his dad, it was eating take-out instead of a home cooked meal and watching television while Christopher's dad cleaned his weapons and old gear.

After a few weeks of an almost complete silence between the two, his father started to open up more, though he only had the tendency to constantly tell his stories about his past travels. Though it was enough to catch Christopher's attention. His mother hated guns and all types of weapons, so the option of learning about any type of weaponry with his mother wasn't ever there. Over time, Christopher's father had taught Christopher about guns and warfare. Christopher learned to load, fire, clean, and even build small weapons over the summers he spent with his father and he grew a strong passion for learning about different types of weaponry, though he would never tell his mother about it.

While living with his mother on Earth, life was much calmer and Christopher often helped his mother run a small diner and bakery. It was hard work and he was almost always busy, but he found enjoyment in helping his mother. He learned how to make great and tasty dishes and baked goods and he grew to have great people skills as he interacted with the different customers that came into the eatery. His mother taught him compassion, and that is was better to give than to receive and Christopher kept that rule in his mind, even when his mother passed on. From his mother, Christopher obtained a passion for cooking and baking and likes to use his passion to makes peoples days better.

Christopher joined Pathfinder because he wanted to explore, just like how his father once did.

Christopher hopes to one day save up enough money to one day open a diner or bakery, just like his mother had when he was younger.

Roy.png
Name: Leroy (Roy) Sartre

Age: 26

Rank/titles: First Lieutenant, Pathfinder Expeditionary Corp, PhD, M.D.

Gender: Male

Physical Description: Already very much fresh-faced, Leroy’s small build (weighing 135 lbs and being just 5'6" tall) only contributes to his quintessentially boyish appearance. He prefers to have his dirty-blond hair slicked back neatly and especially out of his grayish blue eyes so that he can survey what surrounds him properly. Since he spends much of his time cooped-up indoors his complexion has always been rather pale, in fact, Leroy can’t remember a time he’s ever had a tan (and he’s known to have a good memory!).

Personality: Understandably Leroy is a little complacent when it comes to his technical abilities, yet he is still keenly aware of the major problems he faces when it comes to basic interpersonal skills. Indeed, though kind-hearted and good-natured, Dr. Leroy has a quite pronounced tendency to talk to people as if they were automatons, ignoring the usual rules of social grace and courtesy. After having been told about this numerous times by his professors, patients and friends, the doctor is now mindful of this problem and he makes an effort to try and act in a more socially competent manner. Even so, Roy does still frequently slip up.

History: Leroy was born to Renée and Alfred Sartre on the Ambrosia Space Habitat, a space station designed to be a paradise environment for affluent individuals and families. There he demonstrated a remarkably accelerated rate of mental development compared to other children his age, with a particular aptitude for rapid memorization and recall, and he was declared to be a child prodigy.

At age 13, having quickly completed his high school education and still thirsting for knowledge, Roy convinced his parents to begrudgingly allow him to leave home and travel to Kepler’s World so that he could attend the prestigious Hawking University. There he graduated summa cum laude and was given a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at age 16 and earned a doctorate in applied mathematics a few years later. Finding himself interested in human biology, Leroy then entered medical school and finally became a licensed doctor when he was 26.

Having spent the majority of his life in academia, Dr. Leroy realized how little real world experience he actually had, and made the decision to join the Pathfinders so as to broaden his horizons. This, much to the dismay of his parents who would have preferred he work in an environment that was less “plebeian”.

Name: Florian Loras (M.S.)
Master's Degree in Geography,
and Terrestrial Phenomena*

*leading scientist.

Age: 30

Rank: Mercenary, Pathfinder Expeditionary Corp, (Scout/Guide)

Gender: Male

Physical Description:
Through the meticulous toil of field research, which owe to his seamed features, Florian has garnered experience as well as a tawny, weather-beaten imbue; saturating his physiognomy. Always tied up, fashioned into a brief ponytail, his somewhat washed-out strands of balding hair were the result of horrific trauma when caught exposed in the midst of a psychotropic storm. As a result, his sober stare promotes a serious, sensible guise - if not solemn at times. A slight blemish stains his left eyebrow, and another beneath his chestnut eyes. These were claw marks which have since healed.
Florian stands 5' 11" (1.80 m) and weighs a stocky 180 lbs (81.4 kg).
florian_loras.JPG

Personality: As a consequence of prolonged mind control, the effects had erode his humanity. Whilst fierce in combat, Florian exhibits a completely flat personality and monotone speech impediment. On top of this, his poor grasp with language does not make him an effective communicator - instead conversing in halting, jerky sentences. Whilst reserved in social situations, he will maintain a professional standard in all his dealings with science and following orders. Florian can be very reliable in tough conditions.

History: Austrian-born and the eldest of three, his parents were oligarchs to the Russian Federation and had established several research laboratories on the planet. One specific institution was based in the Chinese Karakoram mountain range, where Florian lived most of his childhood. With intermittent stellar expeditions into terrestrial alienation, this semi-nomadic wanderer developed a fascination with psychic phenomena and anomalous occurrences. When home, being a practical student, he would often traverse the merciless terrain to further broaden his mastery of path-finding and studies in geography.
At fourteen he had already accomplished a sundry of conquests to the peaks of K2 and Mount Everest. Though, experiencing the loss of his younger brother, this tragedy made him heedful and attentive to detail - broadening his insight into forthcoming dangers.

Now sixteen, his expertise in path-finding and spotting proved useful for the Interstellar Union of Ecologists, comprised of scientists and mercenaries - funded by the government. After four years of incident, encounter and exploit, there was a mutiny aboard the spaceship. Those involved with the insurrection were recuperating from the onslaught, the mercenaries had complete control over the ship whilst Florian was confined to a prison cell. A while later, they were suddenly ambushed by space pirates who had intercept the emergency transmission. They crashed into the nearby planet, where the pirates soon followed. Although wounded and disarrayed, Florian managed to reach safety without compromise.

In the span of two weeks, it was apparent how surrealism embraced this stretch of the planet. An outlandish, eerie expanse would offer many psychological tribulations. At eight weeks, his first contact with civilization was with the desiccated remains of a vast, industrial city. At night he would hear other-worldly music, foreign vociferation in the streets below and warped distortions of sirens in the distance. With no other alternative, Florian made passage to the resonance, now in obsessive trance by its vocation.

Four years had passed in hazy reverie, from which Florian was slowly woken up back into consciousness. Soon enough, it was prevalent that he was brainwashed into serving an ancient hive of worker-soldiers. Florian found himself in a company of soldiers he had never consciously met before, and garbed in strange uniform. Together, they suffered and prevailed, until a cluster of mercenaries found and recruited them into their ranks for passage from the planet.

At twenty-five, the past four years of his life were unbeknownst to him - only partially glimpsed at in dreams or deep contemplation. Florian worked with the mercenaries as messenger, commando and intelligence officer. All the while bouncing between therapy and psychologists to help tune him back into reality. After periods of capture, skirmish and years of running errands for the mercenaries, Florian wanted his freedom. Though since he had no affiliations elsewhere, they referred him to the Pathfinder Expeditionary Corp. Then after two weeks of assessment, his contract was signed into service with the Corps - serving as a soldier of fortune.
Perhaps this chapter will help him uncover the mysteries of his past life, perhaps now he could have the chance at peace.

Skills: Guidance through tough terrain, understanding of supernatural phenomena, tracking, path-finding, spotting, intelligence and marksmanship.

[div class=fyuriheader2] Brian McLennan
[/div][div class=fyuriheader] General[/div]
Age: 28

Gender: Male

Nationality: Irish/Caucasian

D.O.B: 2324-05-19

Place of Birth: Galway, Republic of Ireland

[div class=fyuriheader] Physical Profile[/div]

Hair: Auburn

Eyes: Grey

Height: 168 cm

Weight: 78 kg

Build: Stocky

Distinguishing Marks: Brian isn't a small man, though he's not the tallest either. He's got a fairly stocky build, with broad shoulders and appropriate musculature for a military man. He has a good gun show when he flaunts it, which is never. His auburn hair stands in contrast with the paleness of his skin. He has a beard that he keeps well-groomed and trimmed closely to his face. He has a tattoo of an octopus on his right forearm.

When he doesn't have to be in uniform, he'll usually be wearing casual leisure suits, buttoned shirts with the top two buttons undone, slender jeans and classy t-shirts. He has a fondness for blazers, bomber jackets, and moto jackets. He's rather good at being well-dressed without looking like he put much thought into it.

[div class=fyuriheader] Psychological Profile[/div]
At a glance, Brian comes off as quiet and easy-going, though it doesn't take long for his intellect to peek through. He has a quick yet understated sense of humor, which he uses to deflect. As a Pathfinder, he is both competent and confident in his work. His natural curiosity and abilities led him into the field of extraplanetary sciences, which he studies with a passion. He becomes excited at even the smallest of scientific marvels, and seeks happiness wherever it can be found. He takes pride in research well done, and is excruciatingly thorough in his studies. He loathes the feeling of not knowing while also celebrating the excitement of discovery. His curiosity often leads him into trouble, but his cleverness generally gets him back out of it.

Brian burns bright and he's prone to periods of excitable activity, often immersing himself in one thought or idea for days at a time, to the exclusion of all else. He's been known to go for days without sleeping while working on something that has caught his attention. When he makes a discovery, he sometimes thinks he's the first person to figure it out. He'll also be called reckless for behaving as if he's less vulnerable than he actually is. He has a notable protective streak, which can sometimes lead to his own detriment.

[div class=fyuriheader] Biographical Summary[/div]
Brian was the first of five kids born to his lower-middle class mother and father in Ireland. Both of his parents worked full-time, and so the task of caring for the younger children tended to fall to him. The responsibility had been hammered into him at a young age, and he accepted it without fuss. All things considered, his childhood was fairly normal for any Earthling boy. He went to school, played with friends and siblings, and grew up without knowing what he would be doing later in life. Brian excelled in most of his classes, with a particular affinity for science and maths. He exceeded his instructors' expectations, even going so far as to be on the honor roll.

The decision to study exobiology was an easy one. He'd long been fascinated with the colonies, but it was more than just the rustic lifestyle that attracted him. It was the study, questions raised by observation. Why weren't the sandworms on Hajar afraid of people? What did raptor bugs feed on? What caused crops to thrive on one planet but fail on another? He longed to indulge his need for intellectual challenge, to spend time on deep research and study. After graduating high school, Brian would apply to Oxford University. He had a plan. He had a will, and everything seemed to be going as anticipated.

Upon earning his Master's degree, Brian enlisted in the Coalition Navy, and was content for a few years working aboard small survey ships. But upon hearing through the vine that a position was opening up on a Pathfinder ship, he jumped at the chance to transfer. The position was for the ship's science officer, and he knew this opening was his way out to explore space and discover what was truly unknown. With his paperwork accepted, his records sealed off to his commanding officers, Brian was ready to embark on his journey into the great unknown.
