Long Time, No See

Day 1.
The time has come!
You rsvp'd for the reunion with your friends, and it starts today. I hope you are on your way to the Yates lake cabin in Hillrose, because your host is expecting you.

Place: The Yates cabin owned by the family of Wes Yates, bordering Hillrose lake, located just on the border of the town of Hillrose.
Hillrose is a town of just under 25,000 people. It is a suburban city, surrounded by a large area of woods, and to the south HIllrose lake. Despite being small, the city has everything a resident may need. The closest major city to Hillrose is a 2 hour drive, and the closest small city is on the other side of Hillrose lake, a short 20 minute drive. The city is also in close proximity to a US army base, being a 1 hour drive from the city. Hillrose is a diverse city, with residents coming from different races, backgrounds, and income levels. The city is most known for its state of the art hospital that employs some of the top doctors and researchers focusing on cancer research. The community of Hillrose is one where almost everyone knows each other, and outsiders are easily spotted. In the summer, Hillrose lake brings many tourists to the city and in the fall the woods around the city bring hunters from all over.
Time: May 28th, approximately 1pm
This time of year is the last few days of spring before the start of summer. School is not out for summer yet, and the tourists that visit the lake every year have yet to arrive.
79 degrees, with a breeze and clear skies
It’s a clear warm spring day. The breeze from the lake keeps it from being too hot. The temperature high is 83 and the low is 68.

[div class=textinformation]es couldn't’ ignore the feelings of excitement and anxiety that had plagued him for the last few days as he arrived at the cabin. Two weeks ago he had sent invitations out to his old high school friends to join him for a reunion at the cabin his family owned overlooking the lake on the border of Hillrose, the city they had all grown up in. Putting together the reunion was a spur of the moment idea. Wes had just got off a tense and stressful phone call with his father, who he worked for and didn’t get along with, when he had taken notice of the invitation to his high school reunion that was sitting on the desk in front of him. While the reunion was not something he was interested in, he reminisced about his time in high school. That’s when he realized all of his great memories were centered around his group of friends at the time. Friends that he hadn’t seen or spoken to in such a long time. Then without any thought, he quickly put together an invitation email for a private reunion and sent it to all his old friends. After he sent it he sat back and thought, there was no way they would all want to get together again. But he was very wrong. It took Wes 2 trips to carry the contents of his truck into the cabin. He had packed the bed full of what he considered essential items for the week that he and his old friends would be gathered together in the cabin. While the cabin was completely furnished, it had been almost a year since anyone had stayed there, and now he had to prepare it for six other people to stay there. Six, that had been how many of his friends that had not only replied to his invitation, but agreed to come. Wes shook his head as he unpacked the groceries in the kitchen and thought of seeing his high school buddies again. He hadn’t kept in contact with anyone beyond being friends on social media since after senior year, though that was never his intention. When he left Hillrose after graduation, he had planned to keep in touch, and even though many of them planned to move away from the town, he had planned on visiting them all every chance he got. Unfortunately, life got in the way of those plans. After he hurt his knee, his whole world changed, and along with it so did his focus. He no longer focused on the good things in life, like his friendships, he instead had to figure out how to navigate the new path that his life was going down, one that he dreaded. Pretty soon days of not speaking to his friends turned into weeks, and weeks to years, until the idea of a friendly “How are you?” seemed too awkward and shameful to bear. Wes had in fact felt terrible for not being there for his friends throughout the years, but until sending that invitation, those were feelings he was not ready to face. Maybe it was good that he sent the invitations without thinking, that may have been the only way for him to be able to reconnect with his friends now. After putting away the groceries, Wes did one final lap around the cabin. He checked every room in the cabin to make sure it was ready for his friends. As he checked the five bedrooms, he hoped that there would be no conflict with people sharing rooms. The cabin was one of the biggest along the lake, but it still didn’t have enough rooms for everyone coming, and he feared that could be a source of conflict. He had put a great deal of thought into who would share rooms, leaving the smallest room for himself to occupy solo, and the biggest to accommodate one friend who had informed him that they would be bringing their baby. After adjusting a few things, to appease the perfectionist in him that only came out when he was anxious, he was happy with the way the cabin was set. He then went back to the kitchen and grabbed a beer before heading out to the porch. Wes picked a seat on the porch where he could look out at the lake and see any cars approaching the driveway of the cabin. He then opened his bottle of beer, which he hoped would help relax his nerves, and waited for the first person to arrive at the cabin.

It had been what, 10 years now? since she'd last seen her precious friends, the ones who- through it all stuck by her terrible side. At least that's how she saw it, finally a chance to thank them for all they'd done, even without knowing it, with them knowing so little about her compared to the others who's life stories were so easily spoken... That got her through a lot.

So when the invitation had arrived at Sherry's door step she jumped at the opportunity. In truth these past two months, she'd been thinking about the good ol' days a lot, back when they could all just hang out and- be kids.

-- Her daydreaming in the back seat of the taxi was interrupted however when Amelia began to grow restless, fidgeting in her seat and seeming like she was about to cry. Sherry immediately leaned over and began pulling silly faces, after about the third one the babies scrunched up face soon turned back to a more placid and smiling one. She could hear the driver audible chuckle a little as well, causing the usually tough and rough girl to blush.

As the trees grew thicker in their coverage around them however she knew they were almost there, and her gaze fixated out the window. Was she really ready to see them all again? Was she- even anything like back then? Sure, she still loved a good drink, and couldn't shake her habit of smoking. But compared to back then when she was party city, the most irresponsible of them all, the girl who was destined to be a 'homeless couch surfer' in the words of some particularly blunt teachers.... Now had a baby.

She'd written in her reply that she had Amelia, but it'd taken her almost an hour to do so between flustered moments and being so frustrated with herself that she couldn't just put pen to paper and straight up tell Wes. It wasn't like she was embarrassed she had a baby, but something about it just felt awkward to put into words when she had this idea of how they'd all viewed her. She couldn't help but wonder if any of the others had settled down and started a family, it made her giggle and for a moment, her smile dropped a little at the realization of how much of a mess she was.

Living alone in a cramped apartment, a single mother barely able to work due to babysitters being scare that she trusted enough to look after Amy.... Heck. It'd taken a chunk out of her savings just to come on this trip.

However, some part of her strongly believed it was worth it, no matter who showed up. She would be sure to have a great time, at least that's what she hoped. Her smile returning to her face as they arrived, the click of the car keys signalling as such, along with a vaguely familiar face waiting on the porch.

Her face lit up with glee, opening the door she quickly went to the other side, grabbing Amelia before carefully rushing over and giving him a huge one-armed hug as the taxi driver started unloading the few bags she brought, after all Wes said the room would already have a cot in it thankfully.

"look at you! Ya big dork." she spoke with a teasing tone and a smirk. Taking a step back and bouncing her baby girl up and down a little in her arms, "Yewsh, you agwee don't cha?" she mused to the two month old in a 'baby voice', chuckling as she looked back at him.

"It's.... really been too long." she finally let out after a long pause, expression returning to a normal grin.

Beau Yun
★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★
location: The Yates Cabin

with: Wesley and Sherry

mood: Anxious

outfit: x

He didn’t know why he never contacted his friends after high school. Were they even friends anymore? Did they even want to be friends anymore? Beau had completely abandoned them all. Sure, he could have used his dad’s sudden death as a completely valid explanation, but that didn’t change the fact that he’d gone AWOL for 10 years without reaching out whatsoever. That amount of time was excessive and something he would never get back. If his friends were angry and disappointed, what would his father think? He would have been understanding, Beau reckoned, but rightfully dismayed simultaneously.

The invitation had been forwarded to him through a text message from his mother. Abandoned social medias and the current low personal profile despite being apart of a band meant that his past had a difficult getting in touch with him even in recent times. He’d stared at the photo for hours, the name “Wesley Yates” shocking all the memories back into his brain. Afterwards, Beau searched his high school friend up on the internet in attempts to catch up through an outsider’s perspective. His mom called him when he didn’t respond to her and left her on read which interrupted his poor attempts at reconnecting.

“Beau, mijo, deberías irte.” [Beau, sweetie, you should go.]

He sighed because she was right. Before Beau allowed himself to obsessively stalk everyone’s Facebooks to make sure they were doing alright he would force himself to see them in person. That idea was solely reliant on the situation where they all met up. That in itself would be difficult to pull off since they were busy adults now. Or at least they should have been. With some time off granted by his boss and his bandmates, Beau confirmed his attendance with Wesley through a simple text message.

Then came the preparation—both physical and mental. While packing up some clothing, toiletries, and snacks for the drive, Beau tried to hype himself up to see everyone. It was an exciting thing to be reunited after 10 years but also terrifying for him personally. He wasn’t a completely different person, but noticeable changes had taken place. Years of football and basketball had been overwritten by those of drugs and inactivity. Beau had been incredibly nasty to his own body. He’d dropped over 75 pounds of which used to be muscle. Fortunately, that number had gotten smaller over the time he’d dedicated to fixing himself with therapy and frequent trips to the gym. The bags under his eyes weren’t as prominent as they had once been, but they were still there. Insomnia plagued him but he no longer filled sleepless nights with self-destructive remedies.

The drive was only a couple of hours. Most of it had been spend belting out songs from the radio as Beau refused to allow the butterflies in his stomach to control him or for the nostalgic scenery of Hillrose to scare him off. There was no turning back after he pulled into the driveway of The Yates Cabin, he realized. His grip on the steering wheel tightened to the point where his knuckles turned white. Beau drew in a sharp breath, shoving a smile on his face, and got out of his car. It looked like he was the second to arrive.

The third, actually. There was a baby.

Beau swallowed; the corners of his lips quirked up nervously while he traveled up the porch stairs. Lifting a hand, he offered Wes and Sherry a wave. “Hi.” He greeted simply, unsure of what else he could even say at this point. Eventually, he settled on some unrehearsed words. “I’m sorry it took me this long.” There was a hitch in his voice as he stared at Sherry and Wes with an uncertainty. Even though he’d clearly been invited, Beau felt out of place and heavy guilt weighing his shoulders down. But, more than any of that, he felt warmth in his heart that had been absent for years. “I missed you guys.”

While Leighton settled her stuff inside her Versace suitcase worth the average joe's annual paycheck, a number of thoughts crossed over her head, mostly contemplating about this whole disaster of a trip. She never intended to come home--ever, that is until she heard her mother's lonely and desperate phone-calls, wishing that she were home at least for a short week or so.

Despite not having the best relationship with her parents and knowing well how her mother does this drunken manipulative phone calls , she felt a bit of sympathy for since her father's passing. From then on, her mother lived alone, one reason why she agreed into booking a plane ride 600 miles from her home. The more she thought about it, the more she'd be at ease with her decision.

As she left her childhood bedroom, she encountered her mother at the kitchen, in her silk bathrobe, just in time for her noontime cocktail.

Mrs Sinclair, much like her daughter in a way, is very meticulous of her self image. She seemingly looks younger for a woman reaching her late 50's, Leighton herself wished she could be half as good as her mother one day. But with the stress she's going through lately, she could only hope.

Mrs Sinclair paused on her tracks to see her daughter, suitcase in one hand and a heavy coat on the other. She analyzed her after going back to pouring her cocktail "You said you were'nt going."

Leighton adjusted her coat to her shoulders, one hand on her waist as she slightly shook her head when her mother offered her a glass of her concoction. "I thought I'd reconsider." she replied a bit halfheartedly "I could really use the vacation." When in truth though, she couldn't stand another day at home whilst her mother casually goes on and on about how the Langdons couldn't bear children, or how the Blackwells' marriage is slowly falling apart. It's either that or the reunion.

"After getting fired from your job and being left for another woman, you could really use it." Mrs Sinclair said nonchalantly, whilst taking a sip from her glass.

"Oh give me a break mother." She rolls her eyes, annoyed more than hurt at her statement. Leighton decided to not to waste time any longer and bailed, starting up the car and drove through the wooden proper, still somewhat in disbelief that she was on her way to an ex boyfriend's cabin, the venue for the reunion.

In all honesty, Leighton didnt know what to expect from the reunion. It's been a while since she had any contact with some of her friends since highschool. Wes and her, to say the least, had a tense fourth year. The time during their break up her association with the others were, kind of awkward but for the sake of the group, both decided to remain friends.

But at least Zoey will be there. She had been the closest to Leigh since their fourth years, she was mostly the person she had confided in.

Leighton was impressed by the gorgeous cabin house as she arrived at the venue. She was feeling a bit uneasy, nervous at any possible expectations they have on her. During highschool she had it all, the potential, the title, people might have expected her to be some hot shot, spends her days going on lavish vacations or rubbing elbows with high society. But no, she's just some hack journalist who only got known for 'punching a dick in the head' that went viral.

She sat at the car, parked some distance away from the driveway, for a good ten minutes, lit up a cigarette and just, waited for her nerves to ease. "I drove all the way here, might as well go ahead with it" she thought to herself. A car pulled over the driveway and she caught a glimpse of a tall lanky fellow, from afar she couldn't recognize who he was.

After a second smoke, Leighton watched herself at the rearview mirror, smoothed her hair, put on her lipstick. put on her Ray Ban's and finally got out of the car. She was looking well put, as she walked inside the cabin, with all her elegance, nevermind the worry and insicurities she was hiding within.

Leighton had the glimpse of the guests inside, who seemed to be busily interacting with each other.

"Nice place you got here." the room filled with another familiar voice,. Taking a closer look at her friends, Leigh was mildly surprised how much has changed over the past decade. She barely recognized them, and at the same time glad that she got to see them again. Specially Beau who'm she hadn't seen or heard from for the last ten years. "Okay this is just---kind of surreal to be honest." She chuckles, her mouth curved into a smile. "I need a glass of champagne."

Emilio would be a liar if he had denied being nervous, of course he had been. Attempts to keep in touch had started with phone calls, that went to messages, onto liking statuses online to nothing. It had been so gradual that it was unnoticed until he had received the invitation from Wes. 10 years, it was there in black and white.

Since moving to New York, Emilio had grown even taller, with a naturally slim frame, he had filled out slightly as muscle had packed on. His hair of course remained unchanged. He had chuckled when he contemplated cutting it, but a mental voice sounding suspiciously like Sherry and Zoe had told him no and he had not been able to find the heart to do it.

He had dated on and off but with work and classes he found little to no time to actually date, it was part of his decision that he had been looking into opening a dance studio back home. Sitting on his bed looking at the invite, it seemed too much to be coincidence since he had been thinking of home lately. One phone call to his mother, that was mostly him rambling in a mix of English and French. His mother calmed him down and put his mind to rest as she always could

"Vous les manquez et ils vous manquent probablement aussi" (You miss them and they probably miss you too)

It had been decided as he booked flights from JFK to head home. Spending the next few days winding everything down with work, making sure classes were covered etc... He had packed, unpacked and repacked again more than once. Finally happy he had packed what he needed, he Ubered to the airport.

Before heading to the cabin, he had met with his mother at home and explained what he was thinking of doing, finding a space to open a studio. She had been delighted of course at the idea of him moving back to the area. He had made more than 1 offer to have her move to New York with him but she had a life and business here. After spending a few days with her, he packed up his rental car and made the drive to the cabin.

His nerves began to build as he got closer to the cabin, what if they kept in touch with out him, what if he was not wanted. Thoughts of things from 10 years ago came back like a storm, crushes and would be relationships, what would it be like, would those feelings surge back or would it be left in the past. By the time he pulled up outside the cabin, the nerves were like a ball of iron in his stomach. Killing the engine, he stepped out of the car, fixing his clothes he looked at the cabin and could hear the chatter inside. Stepping forward and knocking on the door before opening it and peeking inside he spoke up:

"Hey guys, how is everyone"

[div class=textinformation]es enjoyed his gaze of the lake that he hadn’t seen in years. The view brought back so many memories from his first eighteen years of life, most happy. He remembered the summers spent with his mother there when he was a kid, swimming and playing. And then as a teenager, he would escape to the cabin as much as he could, it was the place where he would go to be with his thoughts. As he reminisced, time seemed to pass by slowly. He began to wonder if anyone was even going to really show up to this reunion. Maybe everyone changed their mind, he wouldn’t be mad if they did, he wanted to change his mind almost immediately after he got the first rsvp. He never thought he would actually be here now waiting for all his old friends to show up, well almost all his friends. There was one friend that didn’t respond to the invite, but Wes didn’t blame Emilio. The situation was for sure going to be awkward for everyone and if Emilio didn’t want to deal with it, Wes understood. Wes looked down at his now empty beer bottle and debated whether he should get another. It wasn’t like him to drink this early in the day. Just as he decided to head inside for another, he saw a car pulling onto the cabin's driveway, the familiar yellow of a taxi cab. “About time.” he thought, feeling conflicting emotions of anxiety and relief that he wasn’t being stood up. “Who is it?” Wes stood and waited for the cab to come to a stop before stepping off the porch to greet whoever was to emerge from the back of that vehicle. A sense of relief washed over Wes as he watched Sherry get out of the car and quickly grab her baby out. What a great first guest to arrive. Wes and Serry had no drama in their past, unlike some of their other friends, and there was also the baby...the baby that could act as a great buffer to any awkwardness that there may be. Wes was quite shocked when Sherry greeted him with a hug and a friendly joke. He smiled as Sherry talked to her infant in a silly baby voice. “Welcome you two.” He laughed as Sherry remarked about the long time passed, “You can say that again.” he was still trying to accept the fact that Sherry had a baby now. Yes, she had told him about the baby when she rsvp’d, but it hadn’t seemed real until she was standing in front of him. He was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when the taxi driver closed his trunk after unloading Sherry’s bags. “Let me get those!” He quickly hurried over to grab the bags and paid the taxi driver. He turned back toward Sherry bags in hand, “Let’s get you guys set up inside.” He motioned for her to follow and led her up the porch. Just as they reached the front door, he heard the familiar noise of tires pulling up the driveway and stopped. “Who do you think that is?” he asked Sherry as he turned around once more. If Wes had been a cartoon character his jaw would have dropped to the ground at the sight of Beau Yun stepping out of the car in front of him. While he had gotten the rsvp and even prepared a space for him to stay, he never thought Beau would actually show up. He had just assumed the rsvp was an accident. Afterall, Beau hadn’t even said goodbye to anyone in their friend group, he had just disappeared mid senior year, so why would he be interested in reconnecting with everyone? As Beau spoke, Wes just stood and stared, unable to really find the words to welcome his old friend. “You missed us?” Wes thought listening to the man in front of him speak. It was like looking at a stranger, not only had Beau changed physically, but it felt as though Wes didn’t know this guy. Maybe it was the time, or maybe it was the way things were left off, but something felt off. Once Wes was able to shake himself out of his thoughts, he invited everyone inside, “Why don’t we take these bags inside?” he said, lifting Sherry’s bags once more and quickly heading inside. Once he was inside he put the bags down near the stairs and turned back toward his old friends. “Is anyone thirsty?” he asked, looking for a reason to leave the room and have a moment to process the reality of the moment. But before he got an answer from Sherry or Beau, the door to the cabin opened again. The only way things could have gotten more awkward for Wes was for Leigh to walk through the open door, and that’s exactly what happened. Of course he knew she was coming, but it was, as she said, “surreal”. Wes gave her a smile hoping to not be too awkward, and heeded her request for champagne, “I was just headed into the kitchen, one champagne coming up.” He waited for the other two to place their drink orders and finally headed to the kitchen, not ready for anymore surprises in the moment. As the kitchen door swung closed behind him, he heard the front door of the cabin open, and a new voice joined the others in the living room. He would wait to greet the next arrival. He continued into the kitchen and began preparing everyone’s drinks.

Sherry let out a tankful nod and quiet, "Yes pleaaaaase" as he offered to grab the bags, however the not completely unexpected, but still bewildering act of him paying for the cab left her secretively celebrating inside herself, 'Ahhhhh- yes! thank you so much, I totally didn't know if I had enough to pay for that in my wallet!?' she thought. Snapping out of it as he came back and gestured they move on back to the porch.

It was only when the second car pulled up as her own taxi pulled away that the slamming of a door caused her to look back, eyes widening like huge orbs as she spotted who it was, "Oh my god, it's you!?" she let out before she could stop it. Trying to regain composure as he walked up. However what he said caused a smirk to appear right back on her face as she went closer, ruffling his hair with her free hand, "Missed us? Ya' better of buttface!" she replied to his comment, holding back to the best of her ability the tears begging to form in her eyes at one of her closest friends.

When he had disappeared- it had hit her like a brick. Or maybe even a sledgehammer? It was all a bit blurry but she remembered drinking for at least a week or two and skipping school.... He'd meant so much to her back then, did he- still have the same feelings for her now? Or had they drifted too far apart.... Too different of a life to ever reconnect the way they had before?

Shaking her head from the depressing thoughts she spoke up to break the silence of Wes' comment. "Argh. Getting lost in my thoughts is such a bad habit, right? Not like me at allllll~" she chuckled, turning and walking into the house with the pair.

As they entered and Wes offered the pair a drink she went to jokingly say some alcohol before someone appeared with on the contrary a serious request for the stuff. Looking over to face them she gave a grin and placed her free hand on her hip. "Well, Well. If it isn't the princess of high school~.... Your majesty" she teased, bowing her head whilst keeping Amelia up straight. Admittedly her arm was starting to hurt a little, it's not like the baby was heavy, but boy oh boy didn't she wanna shift positions.

Interrupting her own playful joke as Leigh she spotted a couch and seized her chance. Moving over she took a seat beside the pair, placing Amelia down on her lap whilst holding with both arms, rolling her shoulder around a little to work out the stiffness, "Ah. Much better" she let out to herself, noting yet another car pulling up outside from her position next to the window. As Emilio strolled up her smile widened.

Just how many of their friends were showing up? She wouldn't say it aloud but- this was amazing! It was really like getting the old gang together again.... even if still missing a few people. She could feel her heart thumping in her chest with nerves, every part of her brain screaming at her to play it off cool around them, the way she used to act. The way she'd acted for years and years- until Amy. Looking down at the baby reaching out a little towards the group gathered in the room she took in a breath and calmed a little, that's right.... everything would be fine.

"Thank you, Wes." she gave a meekly smile back. Leigh tried to keep it cool, although not a serious word was exchanged between the two since her arrival, she felt it be better to keep the casual air lest the awkwardness became worse. Funny after all that happened , she never once recalled apologizing to Wes, ever. What happened was her fault obviously, she was young, stupid and selfish. Wes was a good guy, he didnt deserve what happened. Maybe at some point would be a good time to remedy old wounds and make it up to him, if Leigh decides not to chicken out at the last minute that is.

Leigh came face to face with the woman, shooting her a mocking line, which was both familiar and nostalgic to her ear. Crossing her arms, lifting up a brow, she held a sarcastic smile "And if it isn't her majesty's favorite fool. How is the circus nowadays?" At that moment Leigh had just noticed the baby she was carrying, whom she legitimately though was a small sack of baby potatoes at first glance , then realizing how stupid that presumption was . She paused, for a few seconds squinting her eyes to process what she saw.

"That's a baby." She points at her, then stating the obvious. She turned to Sherry, then to the baby, whom unmistakably resembled the woman. "Your baby." Leigh had put two and two together, and the result to say the least, surprised her.

When it comes to kids, Leighton never really formed a solid opinion on them, may it be from having one or just in general. Maybe she lacks the patience or the maternal instinct, but doesn't mean she would mind raising one someday. If only she'd know how.

She reached for the glass offered by the host, taking small sips from it when another guest arrived, it was Emilio. She greets him. "It's been a long time." Her nervousness had almost faded at this point after seeing all these familiar faces. It's like coming back home after a long dreary trip.

Marcus arrived home from work the other day when he received the invitation. He was contacted by his old high school buddy Wes Yates. Marcus was definitely happy to hear from him again after almost a couple of years. With him rarely being on social media, (he just never got into it) he had been wondering how his friends were doing after all these years. And besides, it's high time for the gang to have a proper reunion, which Marcus wouldn't miss for the world.

Wes, Sherry, Zoey, Leigh, Park, Emilio and Beau, they were an assorted band of misfits, each having their own unique individuality but at the same time sticking together like glue. They were a part of his best years, of course they meant so much to him.

While away, Marcus had his sister watch over the bar for him. He feels comfortable if he left it to someone he trusts, specially that he may be gone for awhile. After stopping by his siter Gabriella's house to leave the keys to the bar, Marcus rode his motorcycle off to the venue, feeling hopeful and excited for what's to come.

It was about an hour drive from his home to the cabin, the sound of his motorcycle engine dying before he stepped out the vehicle. He took off his helmet and scoped out the place. "This must be it" he confidently thought to himself.

Marcus happily strode towards the door. He smiled as he made out some of the familiar faces,

"Hey hey!" A scruffy man, wearing an outdated leather jacket, lugging a his duffle bag on one shoulder, a helmet on one arm and a beer case on the other, walked in the room---greeted the small crowd warmly. "Hope I'm not late for the party."

There's, Wes his favorite goofball and go to brother when he just wanted a good laugh. Leighton, the highschool's, queen bee, ever so elegant and still somewhat scares him. Then there's Sherry, his home girl and partner in crime. Is that a baby she's holding? He barely recognized Emilio there, boy did he get taller and twice as strapping. And who might this other one be, he thought, taking a closer look only to realize that it was-- "Beau."

So wouldn't that imply she wanted to be here? On paper yes, in reality.. The answer was always more complex. And that was exactly the case here, as Seo-Yeon sat in the front passenger seat of her former neighbor's small family sedan. The suburban car not entirely used to the less than smooth forest roads of Hillrose's surrounding countryside.

Alan, the Park family's old neighbor from back in Hillrose had agreed to drive her up to the Yates family cabin in place of a more expensive taxi ride up. So for that at least, Seo-Yeon was grateful. But from the combination of a still lingering jet lag, the general difficulties of recent travel and the fast approaching reality of the situation she was in, she'd be lying to herself if she said she hadn't given the entire thing a second thought or two.

It wasn't that she didn't want to see her old friends again. She had agreed to come all the way here, like mentioned before. It was more the idea of reconnecting with her past. Something that she had always been less than enthusiastic about. Despite all the fun they had had together, and the accomplishments that she had made, Seo-Yeon had always held onto the troubles of that time. The stress, the change, the taunting even. Maybe if her life had begun to suck in adulthood she'd have looked back at those days with nostalgia. But truth be told, she was enjoying her life far more now than she ever had back in high school.

"That's the cabin, right?" Alan asked from the driver's seat as the maroon car pulled up to a humble looking wooden building, like one of the cabins you'd see in an American movie. Though hopefully not a horror one, she thought to herself jokingly. "Yeah, that's it." Seo-Yeon gave a small smile and nod in confirmation, the car coming to a stop shortly thereafter in-front of the cabin, getting out of the car and moving around the back to grab her backpack and other accompanying luggage from the back seats before waving Alan a goodbye and the car pulling away.

There hadn't been much of a need for fanfare, the two had already spoken on the ride up. Giving Seo-Yeon more time now to take in her surroundings, letting out a quiet breath as she approached the cabin and made her way up to the porch of the cabin, and then to the door. Finding that it was already open, she hesitated to knock, and after a moment, decided against it. Instead simply opening the door gently and peering in first with her head, followed by the rest of her body as she stepped into the cabin's front room.

"Hello?" She almost questioned, seeing a group of people, recognizable people in the cabin, as the door closed behind her. Seo-Yeon standing rather awkwardly at the front door still as she made her first observations of the room.

Wes, she recognized the one who invited her almost immediately, he looked older, but ultimately familiar. Beau.. Looked different to say the least. Sherry was holding a baby? Leigh had a very Leigh expression, and Emilio and Marcus stood not too far in-front of her. Clearly having just arrived moments before she did. Everyone was different in their own ways, both big and small, and though curiosity did strike about the past ten years of her friends' lives. Her mind was coming up blank.

After ten years, here they were, and surprisingly, Seo-Yeon didn't have much to say.

"Uh, hey guys." She said with a small wave. [/div] [/div] [/div] [/div] [/div]

The warmth in his chest dissipated when Beau caught the reaction in Wes’s face. It was never going to be a reunion of sunshine and roses—that Beau had accepted. However, the immediate hurt and uneasiness practically ripped out his heart and squeezed it until it stopped beating. After everything Beau knew that he deserved it. With no explanation of troubles that he didn’t want to admit or plague anyone with, Beau had been a horrible friend. Eventually he would explain it because unlike in high school, he was learning to rely on people more and actually let them in. For real.
Sherry being there to share some enthusiasm built back up some of his faux spirits. Beau smiled at her, his eyes squeezing shut as he gratefully accepted the affection delivered to the top of his head. “Buttface?” He repeated after opening his eyes. “I can only imagine the words you’d be using if you weren’t holding such a cute baby right now.” His gaze shifted to the baby girl in Sherry’s arm. “What’s her name?”

When Wesley finally managed to speak, Beau’s attention moved onto him and he nodded, this direct interaction settling his stomach some. He’d left his own bag in his car for him to grab later. Sure, his Toyota Corolla was looking rather ratty, but who was going to go out of their way to steal from a car parked next to a cabin in the middle of the woods?

Whoever that may be, Beau was eager to enter the cabin. It was breathtakingly beautiful and loads bigger than any apartment he’d lived in or couch he’d borrowed throughout his lifetime. Beau stopped by the widow to look out at the glimmering lake. The scenery was refreshing and something he desperately needed to break up the remnants of whatever hard feelings still hung around. His thoughts were interrupted by Wes’s question and the sudden arrival of none other than Leighton Sinclair.
She always managed to confused Beau. Her motives were often selfish back in high school, but why she even bothered to risk her status hanging out with the rest of them even after her break up with Wes had him stumped. Beau had internally gotten angry over the breakup on Wes’s behalf many times, but who was he to scold anyone for hurting Wes now? Giving her a weak smile of acknowledgement since there was no formal greeting, Beau made his way to the sofa.

“I’ll take a water. Thank you.”

After his request, Beau quietly listened to the conversation that droned on without his input as he awkwardly sat in his own skin. He looked to the door upon Emilio’s arrival, offering him a wave. To Beau, Emilio was a little reminiscent of Park. The two of them created a power duo of foreign kids with incredible talent. Beau was happy it looked like Emilio was at least doing well but left him wondering if Park was going to show up.

His breath got caught in his throat when Marcus pushed in through the front doors of The Yates Cabin. Beau swallowed hard, leaning back in his seat. His fingers clasped together tightly in his lap at he smiled at his ex-bandmate through pursed lips. “Hey, Marcus…” Beau managed to sputter out despite his heart wild racing inside of his ribcage. Years of complicated feelings shoved down his throat were ready to be regurgitated and desperate to finally be worked through, but this wasn’t high school anymore. They were all nearly 30 years old and Beau was feeling more and more like a child the longer he stayed there.

Antsy and overwhelmed, Beau couldn’t stay in one place. He casually rose up from his spot on the couch to hover off to the side, plenty of glances spared for the newcomer. Park couldn’t have shown up at a better time because Beau was quick to latch onto that distraction. Forcing a smile onto his face, he waved at her.

[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]ZOEY KING
[div class=role]bookworm and traveler[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]You could hear the drop of the pin at that very moment. The mail was there. Zoey had to blink several times and even pinch herself but it was there. She has not heard from Wes Yates ever since...forever? Yeah, that sounds like it. There were so many promises, so many oaths. And yet, gradually, Zoey even stopped looking for them on the social networks. And now, somehow it seemed too good to be true. Zoey stood up and walked to the shelf where she stored her old things and high school memorabilia. One red cardboard box. That was it. She rummbled through the things for a while and in the end she found it. The senior yearbook. Sitting on the ground, she went through the pages. Signatures all over it. She found that one special page, the page she dedicated to her friends and to them only. The old gang. Mixture of everything. They had it all, jock, popular girl, troublemaker, bad boy, nerd, a new kid...you name it, they got it. Until the day of graduation when they hugged each other tight and promised to keep in touch. Zoey King was now the Columbia graduate, attorney at law. Her dad has never been prouder. But that was just not it for the redhead. Not at all. Attorney job would stick her to her desk and even if she loved helping people and putting the dirtbags behind the bars, she needed to feel her freedom first. One week after the graduation, she packed her stuff and left for the backpacking trip. From there, she continued to Australia, south Asia and part of Europe. It was when she was travelling through Balkan when she became a bit homesick and returned. Her skin became a little darker, her hair got this lighter shade of ginger now and the sun in Phuket brought out some more freckles on her nose and shoulders. But it was still the cheeky nerd Zoey they all knew and her parents almost fainted from happiness to see her. And then the mail. Ever since she set her foot back to America, things started to run fast. But seeing that invitation, Zoey didn’t need to think twice. She repacked the suitcase and come the next day, threw it in the truck of her dad’s old Impala (which he so graciously allowed her to borrow) and off she went. The whole drive, she was smiling but there were some jitters all over her body. She was wondering how many members of that old Scooby gang were going to show up. Wes was going to be there, since he was the one to propose the meeting. Her old “student.” They started in history tutoring classes and somehow, nerd and jock became friends. Good friends. Unexpected but certainly nice. Same as with Leigh. The queen bee became one of the best people in Zoey’s life during the senior year. They confided in each other, had some nice girl talks and what not. One would have thought that at least those two would stay in contact. And yet… And then there was Marcus. Even the memory has brought a smile on her face. She has been crushing on that guy for as long as she could remember but never had the balls to tell him or do something about it. She was curious how things were going to look like once she saw him again. If he came, of course. The closer she was, the more her heart was thumping. She had no idea about the others but Zoey had no roots, nothing. She was a free spirit, roaming the world and there was nothing she was tied to. What if they all had families already? Plenty of stuff to talk about? What would she say? ‘Yay, guys, that’s great! I fed llamas in south America!’ Yeah, great opener. She needed to have a smoke but her pack was buried somewhere in the suitcase. So she simply parked the Impala in between the cars and got out. Pulling her suitcase after her, she checked the time and was under impression she was late. The surroundings were immaculate, radiating peace. Zoey could see why Wes chose this place. With a deep breath, she walked inside. There they were. A quick count told her that everyone came. Wait…everyone so that meant…Beau. She almost fainted. But there sure would be time to go through that again. Everyone looked…different. More adult. And actually…so much better. Did she change that much as well? She wouldn’t know. But it was time to find out. “It would appear I am quite late.” she said as she walked in. “It’s so great to see you, guys.” she said and flashed them a shy smile, not sure what more to say.[/div][/div] [div class=info][div class=text]MOOD: anxious LOCATON: the Yates cabin TAGS: unscripted unscripted Cosmos Cosmos oliver oliver Clownery Clownery Nightblade Nightblade kooky kooky OUTFIT: x [/div][/div][/div][/div][/div] [class=container] width: 450px; height: 630px; margin: auto; cursor: url(https://66.media.tumblr.com/232c090ebdd37ae4bc17adb54e1e0344/tumblr_inline_ol4nwhvSwg1uxxza6_75sq.png), auto!important; [/class] [class=border] position: absolute; width: 450px; height: 630px; background: #f1f1f1; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #ccc; [/class] [class=name] position: relative; top: 20px; line-height: 80%; margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; font: 27px Abril Fatface; color: #333; text-transform: uppercase; [/class] [class=role] display: inline-block; position: relative; top: 15px; left: 50%; transform: translateX(-50%); line-height: 80%; margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; font: 9px Verdana; background: var(--accent-1); padding: 5px; color: #fff; text-transform: uppercase; [/class] [class=image] position: absolute; top: 90px; left: 0; height: 160px; width: 450px; background: var(--image); background-size: cover; background-position: center; -webkit-clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 100% 100%, 0% 100%, 0 0, 50% 12%); clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 100% 100%, 0% 100%, 0 0, 50% 12%); [/class] [class=info] position: absolute; bottom: 0; left: 0; height: 30px; width: 440px; padding: 0px 5px; font: 11px Verdana; background: var(--accent-1); color: #fff; text-transform: uppercase; line-height: 28px; white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; [/class] [class=text] display: inline-block; padding-left: calc(100% + 5px); animation: {post_id}marquee var(--time) linear infinite; [/class] [class=textbox] position: absolute; left: 0; top: 250px; width: 433px; height: 316px; overflow-x: hidden; font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-line; line-height: 125%; padding: 17px 0px 17px 17px; [/class] [class=scroll] width: 100%; height: 100%; overflow-y: scroll; padding-right: 17px; text-align: justify; color: #333; [/class] [animation=marquee] [keyframe=0] transform: translate(0, 0); [/keyframe] [keyframe=100] transform: translate(-100%, 0); [/keyframe] [/animation]

As Leigh noticed the baby, and stated the obvious, Sherry almost completely ignored her tease on the circus, simply having given it a roll of her eyes. Continuing onto the 'your baby' part Sherry blushed a light shade of pink, "Y-Yeah.... It is" she stuttered, uncharacteristically loosing her cool a little. However welcomed Beau's distraction of asking Amelia's name, "Ha-- oh, her name is Amy, or uh- Amelia." she fumbled out still recovering from before.

His comment on her censoring herself picked up in her mind, it's true. It was something she'd only started doing lately, but none the less was different for her to get used to, what she'd actually wanted to say was something along the lines of, 'Welcome back you F**ker!' but alas, even though she knew Amy couldn't understand, something about her felt bad for saying it around the little one.

Joining her on the couch, it was then that Marcus walked in, her face lit up, "Ay there partner in crime!~" she let out with a cheer, still bouncing Amelia up and down on her lap with one knee as the baby seemed a tad overwhelmed in expression, trying to take in all the new faces and seemingly loving it -- at least for the time being.

It was only a moment later Seo-Yeon entered the room. "Heyyyy!" she replied to the smaller one given by the other. "How ya' been?-" she barely had the time to let the words leave her mouth before the final piece of the puzzle entered, Zoey.

Immediately old memories and feelings resurfaced, how could the party girl fall for a nerd you ask? Well- Even Sherry didn't know that. She felt her stomach fill with butterflies even after all this time, maybe it was becuase of that even. The girl looked....

"Beautiful..."

Sherry whispered, probably the only one close enough to hear being Beau before he randomly got up and left. Sherry began panicking, was it because he heard what she said? Oh no, this was bad. Nobody even knew Sherry was Homoflexible back then, Heck. SHERRY barely knew she was that. And to go on saying that whilst holding a baby that they probably all assumed had some great dad made it even worse.

As if there couldn't be any worse timing, Amelia started to panic with all the people, tearing up a little before beginning to stutter out a cry. Sherry looked down wide-eyed, still worrying herself about everything that's been happening she picked up the baby and held her close, "Shhhh, Shhhh~ It's okay" she let out quietly, soon standing and giving an apologetic look to everyone, "S-Sorry she'd never seen this many people in one room before.... I-I guess it's freaking her out a little" She continued as the baby's wailing got louder. Was she hungry maybe? No way. She'd just fed in the car- so how was she supposed to calm her down? Leave the room maybe? But truly she didn't want to.

Argh. Why was being a mum so difficult!- she was after all just making up this stuff as she went for the most part. Wait- her rattle! that'll help, Sherry immediately looked around, at the group of old friends, sure she didn't trust a babysitter, but she had to trust one of them. "C-Could someone hold the baby for a moment? I gotta grab something-" she let out with a pleading expression, mainly directing it towards Leigh and Zoey.

Emilio smiled at the welcome, before settling in. Seeing Beau, Marcus and Zoey had been odd. The feelings somewhat still there. He thought 10 years would have put those feelings to rest but it turns out it had not, all it did was hide them until the worst possible time. Sherry had been a different kettle of fish, Smiling as he was Taking a glass of water, he sat down as he listened to people catch up. Always the quiet observer, he was content with the noises of his childhood like a warm blanket filling the silence. He noticed for the first time that the whole gang was back together.

Saying high as the others came in, he took a moment to look around at everyone. They all seemed relaxed and calm and Emilio felt happy, but he knew that underlaying drama was there and 10 years would only keep it buried for so long before the cracks started to appear. He hoped they would not come up before people went off but he was too worried. Looking at Beau and Marcus, he could feel himself blushing.

He forced himself to look around and people watch, seeing Wes and Leigh be slightly uncomfortable with each other, but ignoring it for the sake of having their friends around. Emilio wondered how Wes was getting on working with his dad now, remembering the colourful words he had about his dad when they were in school.

He looked as Park came in, smiling and saying hi like the others before moving on, making it a point to avoid the other pieces of the love square. He did not trust himself to look at them, but he knew his confrontations would come up eventually.

He did not know if Sherry saw a change at seeing the would be love square but she was always cool enough not to bring it up in front of people. Turning to speak with Sherry, he noticed that the baby started fussing. Surprising himself he offered to hold her for Sherry. Taking the baby, he rocked her a bit like his mother taught him before singing some random lullaby in french, getting her to stop fussing:

Lullaby

Marcus couldn't properly process the emotions that swept through him at that very moment. There was a feeling of glee, shock, longing-ness and anger all at once as he saw him stood there, barely recognisable, wondering and worrying how the years had been to him. He was about to say something else when Park came in moments just after he did. Marcus tried to shift his mood, "Hey!", keeping up a happy facade as he greeted her.

Funny thing is, during highschool he always thought, Park was kind of a cutie. Marcus has always been an outgoing guy, but if he likes someone, he tends to be a little bit more extra, and most of the time it just makes him look stupid than anything. Though the moment he got to know her more, and well, her preferences, Marcus was a bit discouraged by the revelation. Though he got over it eventually, and even apologised if he came off a bit too weird, and still hoped that they could still be friends after.

Sherry came up to him, her face lit up at the sight of her old friend. "Yo, Sher!" He gave her old friend a tight bear hug, and meeting her baby Amelia for the first time "She looks exactly like you, crazy! " Marcus danced her little chubby arms around, while attempting to make a little silly face with her.

Marcus wouldnt even trust himself to watch a baby, let alone hold one, but Emilio on the other hand, was acing it like a professional daddy. Oddest thing though, Marcus just noticed how pleasant his voice is. Was it always this velvety?

"Oh, by the way" he went over to Wes and Leigh by the kitchen, putting down the casket of beer he was lugging on the counter. "I thought I'd bless your palates with some of Uncle Pete's special craft beer. You're welcome." He gave them a playful wink.

Not long he noticed another familiar face come in, "Zoey!" Marcus stretching his arms to give her tight hug. Marcus always liked Zoey. He lost count at the number of times she helped him review for a test. From there their friendship just took off. He owe her all the C's and B's he got throughout highschool and to be honest if it wasn't for her, he'd probably drop out of. "Look at you" a warm smile across his face "It's been a long time hasn't it?"

[div class=role]bookworm and traveler[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Saying that it was weird was a bit of an understatement. Of course, Zoey was extremely happy to see everyone and the fact that absolutely everyone came was actually tearing her eyes up. But these were ten years we’re talking about. She herself was a bit different person now so it was only expectable that they all were. For a moment, she just stood there awkwardly as if she was now the new kid, joining the group of long-time friends. Zoey took a deep breath and was about to say anything when she suddenly heard her name and found herself in a tight hug. She chuckled and returned it, equally tightly. “It’s great to see you too, Marcus. You look great.” she said once they let go. It was true. He looked handsome as ever and the pinch in the depths of her stomach reminded her of how she felt ten years ago. Marcus Pulaski was the biggest crush she has ever had. His bad boy vibe was a polar opposite to everything there was to Zoey the Nerd, but she couldn’t help herself. Somehow, she felt she never had a chance with him but a girl could hope, right? Now she felt her stomach somersault in the very same way but it was clear it was just a remnant of the past. Besides, she knew there were other people with the very same crush and she didn’t want to stand in the way. Looking around, she realized something. “Is that a…baby?” she asked and her jaw dropped. “Where the hell did you get that, Sherry?” Zoey asked as she approached her blond friend to give her a hug. They way Zoey remembered Sherry was…a party girl, that kind of big sister who smoked and drank the hell of the world in 16 but once she saw Zoey light up a cigarette, she yelled her ear of. She was a real buddy, taking care of everyone. And now she had a baby. Sure, the little girl was as adorable as they come but Zoey and babies were…not a great combo. She always thought she would mess up. “You did good, Sher, she’s beautiful.” Zoey said when she pulled away from the hug. Zoey walked rounds, welcoming everyone and the longer she was with them, the easier it was. She was getting in her old element of easy-going girl who really could get along with everyone. This group was a proof that she really did. They were so different and yet they had some things in common. A group of misfits and yet they were the greatest thing that Zoey ever had at high school. Her father was not really excited, saying that they were only using her for her brains. But Zoey knew the best that it wasn’t true. She helped everyone who needed, hell, it started with her tutoring Wes. She gave some classes to Marcus and Sherry as well, they all used to study together. It was…more than great. But there was the biggest elephant in the room. “You have no idea how happy I am to see you, man.” Zoey said with that typical half-smirk of hers and approached Beau to give him a tight hug. He disappeared on them and none of them knew where he was or how to contact him. Zoey missed him as he was a great friend. They shared their secret crush on Marcus and Beau was the one who decided to let Zoey have her chance. And yet Zoey knew that if one of them was to succeed, it was most likely not her. “How have you been, Beau?” she asked with a genuine interest and held him in a hug for a bit longer than the other. Shit, it was almost unbelievable they were really all there. And yet it was true. And it felt good. It felt so fricking good to have them all in one place again.[/div][/div] [div class=info][div class=text]MOOD: anxious LOCATON: the Yates cabin TAGS: unscripted unscripted Cosmos Cosmos oliver oliver Clownery Clownery Nightblade Nightblade kooky kooky OUTFIT: clothes [/div][/div][/div][/div][/div] [class=container] width: 450px; height: 630px; margin: auto; cursor: url(https://66.media.tumblr.com/232c090ebdd37ae4bc17adb54e1e0344/tumblr_inline_ol4nwhvSwg1uxxza6_75sq.png), auto!important; [/class] [class=border] position: absolute; width: 450px; height: 630px; background: #f1f1f1; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #ccc; [/class] [class=name] position: relative; top: 20px; line-height: 80%; margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; font: 27px Abril Fatface; color: #333; text-transform: uppercase; [/class] [class=role] display: inline-block; position: relative; top: 15px; left: 50%; transform: translateX(-50%); line-height: 80%; margin: 0 auto; text-align: center; font: 9px Verdana; background: var(--accent-1); padding: 5px; color: #fff; text-transform: uppercase; [/class] [class=image] position: absolute; top: 90px; left: 0; height: 160px; width: 450px; background: var(--image); background-size: cover; background-position: center; -webkit-clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 100% 100%, 0% 100%, 0 0, 50% 12%); clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 100% 100%, 0% 100%, 0 0, 50% 12%); [/class] [class=info] position: absolute; bottom: 0; left: 0; height: 30px; width: 440px; padding: 0px 5px; font: 11px Verdana; background: var(--accent-1); color: #fff; text-transform: uppercase; line-height: 28px; white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; [/class] [class=text] display: inline-block; padding-left: calc(100% + 5px); animation: {post_id}marquee var(--time) linear infinite; [/class] [class=textbox] position: absolute; left: 0; top: 250px; width: 433px; height: 316px; overflow-x: hidden; font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-line; line-height: 125%; padding: 17px 0px 17px 17px; [/class] [class=scroll] width: 100%; height: 100%; overflow-y: scroll; padding-right: 17px; text-align: justify; color: #333; [/class] [animation=marquee] [keyframe=0] transform: translate(0, 0); [/keyframe] [keyframe=100] transform: translate(-100%, 0); [/keyframe] [/animation]

[div class=textinformation] scaping to the kitchen was just what Wes needed. It gave him an opportunity to take in the interactions he had had thus far as well as try to prepare for the ones to come. There were 2 more people that had rsvp’d for the reunion, and one of them was out in the living room right now. Not wanting to be gone too long, Wes headed out of the kitchen with the requested drinks for Beau and Leigh and a beer for himself. Wes stopped in his tracks when he saw who had arrived in the house in his absence. Emilio hadn’t rsvp’d and so Wes had no idea he was coming. He gave Emilio a smile, but before he got a chance to say anything the front door of the cabin opened again, this time revealing someone that Wes had known was coming. It was Marcus Pulaski. “Hey!” Wes said, as he went to give Marcus a wave before realizing he was still holding drinks. He handed Leigh her champagne glass before heading over to Beau. He Handed Beau the bottle of water without a glance and quickly retreated to the bar next to the entrance of the kitchen. He hadn’t meant to be awkward, but he wasn’t ready to talk to Beau yet, so he figured it best to keep their interactions short for the time being. Just as he sat down on one of the stools at the bar that he had taken his first drink at some 14 years before, Wes heard the now very familiar sound of the front door opening again. When Park walked in Wes immediately greeted her, “Hey, good to see you.”, he smiled. Wes had always liked Park. When he had met her, she was still new to their high school and just learning English. But despite being at a new school with a new language to learn, Park had always had a confidence in her that Wes admired. Wes sat back and watched his old friends greet each other and spark up small talk. He chose not to insert himself into the mix. He was kind of speechless seeing all of the people that he had spent so many days of his high school life with all in front of him again. There was also that nagging feeling of regret and shame that lingered in the back of his mind for not keeping up the relationships that had once been the most important in his life. He didn’t know if anyone was upset with him, or if any of them felt the same way, but he also wasn’t ready to find out. The anxiety that was slowly building as Wes thought to himself, was interrupted by yet another opening of the front door. This time Wes knew who it was before seeing their face. A flash of red hair hair was all he needed to see to know that Zoey King had entered the cabin. A feeling of warmth came over him as he thought back to how Zoey had helped him in high school. She would often give up her own time to help Wes with his studies working around both of their busy schedules. And she was always patient with him. While wes was not dumb by any means, he did struggle with math and science quiet a bit. But thanks to Zoey’s help he made it through. He gave Zoey a wave, “Not late at all. Glad you made it.”. As everyone continued to interact, Wes counted everyone. Eight including himself. That was everyone. Wes was so caught up marveling in the fact that everyone actually showed up, that he didn’t even see Marcus walk over to him. It was only when Marcus spoke and put a pack of beer on the bar that Wes snapped out of his thoughts. “Thanks man.” Wes said with a smile. Looking at the pack of beer on the bar, he noticed the forgotten and most likely warm beer that he had brought from the kitchen earlier sitting next to it. He figured he might as well take the beers to the fridge and grab a new cold one. Wes headed into the kitchen, no one noticing while they all continued to interact, and put the beer away. With the fridge open Wes caught sight of the food that would be for their first meal. He had never been a great cook, but he wanted his friends to enjoy a nice first meal at the cabin so he had hired a personal chef to prepare food for them. All Wes had to do was to grill the meat. He thought a bbq near the beach would be good, that way everyone could eat and enjoy the day by the water. It just might be a good way to get everyone to relax and ease some of the tension that he had anticipated. A quick look at his watch and he realized he needed to get the grill going. But before doing that, he wanted to show everyone their rooms, that way they could get settled before eating. Wes headed back out of the kitchen to get everyone directed. “Hey guys.” he said loudly to get everyone's attention, “I want to show you all your rooms so you will know where you will be staying, and then I am going to get our first meal started.”. Wes had taken a great deal of thought when trying to figure out who would sleep where. He had even had 3 new beds and a crib delivered to make 3 rooms doubles and to accommodate Sherry. But now that everyone was in front of him he started to rethink the room assignments. Had he made the right choices, everyone seemed friendly, but there was still a tense energy in the room. He decided it best to start with the room that would have the least drama or awkwardness. “Sherry,” he started, she had seemed to be taking this reunion the best thus far, even trusting someone she hadn’t seen in ten years to hold her baby. “If you follow me I will show you where you and Amy will be staying.” He waited for her to get the baby back from Emilio before grabbing her bags and leading her upstairs to where most of the rooms were located. He walked to the master room and opened the door, “I hope this works for you, I got a crib and everything.” “One down, 3 more rooms to fill.” he said under his breath as he descended down the stairs. Once in at the bottom of the stairs he looked at Marcus and Beau. He had thought they would be good for the room at the end of the hall. It was the furthest room from everyone else, so if they decided to play music together like back in the day it wouldn’t disturb anyone. “Marcus, Beau, you guys are up next.” He said, waiting for them to meet him at the stairs. He led the two up the stairs and down the hall to the room they would share without a word. He was still unsure of what to say to Beau, so for the sake of not starting a conversation that might include Beau, he didn’t say anything to Marcus either. When they arrived at the room, he opened the door. “Here it is guys.” He waited for them to enter the room before heading down stairs one last time. “If you would follow me.” He said looking at Emilio and Zoey. He had instantly thought to have them share a room when he was thinking of the roommate situation. He could remember the two constantly talking about traveling all over the world, and daydreaming together when they were in high school. When they were ready, he led them up the stairs to their room. “You guys will love your room, it has excellent lighting.” he commented as he opened the door to the room closest to the top of the stairs. Only one more room to fill. It wasn’t a coincidence that he waited to show Leigh and Park to their room last. He honestly still didn’t know what to make of Leigh being at the reunion. When he reached the bottom floor he looked at the two ladies left. “Your room is down here.” He said, gesturing to the hallway that was just off the living room that ran parallel with the stairway. As he led them to their room he thought back to high school. Leigh and Park had never been close, and Park never put up with any of Leigh’s bullshit. It was kind of strange to think of the two sharing a room, but it was just luck of the draw that they were the last two people that left after he had paired everyone else. Opening the door to the room, he looked at the ladies over his shoulder. “I hope you guys are comfortable here.” He smiled at Park and then looked at Leigh. It seemed weird not to say anything, but he was feeling a bit self conscious in the moment. It was a strange feeling, but it wasn't unfamiliar. He had felt that way almost all of senior year. But he didn’t want to think about that now so he started making his way out of the room. “I will let you guys settle in.” he said quickly so he could make his exit. Once he had shown everyone to their rooms he felt at ease. The awkward and tense “hello’s”, and “long time, no no see’s” were over and that was the part he was dreading the most. “It has to get better from here. Right?”

[div class=textinformation]es looked at all of the food he had made for the meal. It was way more than the group needed. But when he was ordering the food with the chef, he had purposely ordered more. He was feeding people that he hadn’t spoken to in ten years, so he had no idea what everyone ate and wanted to accommodate everyone. Wes looked at everything and decided what to take to take down to the beach first. He decided to take of course the meat he would grill, as well as the cooler that he packed with water, sodas, and beers. Anything else that people may want they could grab themselves. The area where they would picnic wasn’t far from the cabin at all. It was basically just an extension of the porch. Wes was 7 when his father built it, and he remembered him explaining that it would increase the value of the property. That was his father, always thinking of money. Wes shook off thoughts of his father as he heated up the grill. He had promised himself not to think about his father or work during this trip. Those two things had been responsible for all of the stress and conflict he had had in his life recently and he needed a break. That was one of his driving forces for going through with this reunion, he had hoped it might give him a chance to reconnect with the people he had experienced the most joy with in his life, and maybe help him loosen up and find that joy again. Once the meat was on the grill, Wes headed back to the house to grab some more things from the kitchen.

From the sidelines, Beau watched everyone interact as he tried to swallow down the mixed emotions from himself and his high school friends. The whole reunion was a punch in the gut and every time a new person showed up, that fist jabbed him harder. He felt sick to his stomach, woozy with anxiety, and desperate for a drink that he wasn’t about to let himself have.
The water was delivered to him and he couldn’t have been more thankful. The coldness he was receiving, although well-deserved, still hurt him. There was a thick cloud of awkwardness between him and the others, but especially Wesley. Beau made sure to mumble a thanks before he unscrewed the translucent plastic cap and took a large swig. The liquid was delightfully cold, and he could follow its trail as it slid down his throat, through his chest, and left a refreshing, full feeling. The moment passed reality reminded him where he was at. The Yates Cabin for the next two weeks.

Room assignments. Beau hadn’t even considered that yet, a whole new wave of anxiety sweeping over him. After he set down his water bottle, Beau exited the cabin without a word and headed toward his car. This time the abandonment was only temporary. He had the full intention on coming back, but just wanted to grab his things from the trunk. All of his necessities fit into a modest suitcase, but he also made sure to bring along his bass and lightweight amp. Whether or not he and Marcus would get to play again, he wasn’t about to go two weeks without practicing when it had become his life—his happy place.

By the time Wesley had returned from showing Sherry to her room to call upon Beau and Marcus, Beau had made it back inside. That assignment should have been expected, but Christ was it going to be weird. But it couldn’t be worse than that initial trek to the bedroom upstairs. Not only did Beau have some trouble carrying everything at once up the stairs, but the silence between him and his two best friends was too much. Of course, he also found himself thankful for it. There wasn’t anything he wanted to say in the moment. The “fixing” would have to come later after the excitement, if what they had could be repaired. Beau sure would have liked that to be the case, but he also wasn’t about to force it.

If they couldn’t forgive him, they couldn’t forgive him. That only added more people on top of the ever-growing list.

Entering the room, Beau thanked Wesley for a third time and claimed the bed on the left side of the room. He left his bass on top of the bed, the amp on the floor next to it, and slid his suitcase underneath it without a word. A few deep breaths later and Beau decided to fix his shirt, retucking it into his pants. Then, he glanced over to Marcus and chewed on his bottom lip for a moment while deciding on what to say.

“This is pretty crazy, huh?” He started off, testing the waters. “I can’t believe everyone showed up…” As if he had the right to make that comment. Lifting his hand, Beau rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

Mood: cheerful

Sherry was admittedly a tad disheartened at the fact she wouldn't be sharing a room with anyone. But didn't let it keep her down- after all it was probably for the best considering she'd have to breastfeed Amelia and the baby was doubtless going to cry at some other point during the trip. She was pleasantly surprised when she'd come back from the room with the rattle only to find Amelia still teary but calmed by Emilio's singing, she'd never event thought of singing to the little one before, admittedly too embarrassed by it.

She took this chance to slowly undo her button up white shirt and nurse her a little, with the door double checked to be locked. Once Amelia seemed to have had enough she smiled and gently stroked the baby girls small tufts of hair. "You're such a fussy eater, ya know that chubby legs?" she mused, poking out her tongue as she placed her down in the crib and fixed up her shirt. Slowly she grabbed the baby carrier out from her bag, a simply latch on front seat sort of contraption, something that admittedly she'd never used before and got tangled up in for about five minuets before working it out fully.

Letting out a sigh she grabbed Amy and gently placed her in, now ready to go to the picnic. And- face all her old friends.... D-Don't get her wrong! she was excited, really. Just- also prepared for certain 'questions' she knew would come up. Ones she wasn't quite sure how to answer.

Unlocking the door she moved out into the hallway peeking around curiously at all the different doors. Being the first to be roomed meant she hadn't heard who everyone else was with, at least until she passed by the door next to hers and heard Beau. A smile lighting up her face as she knocked on it supporting Amelia in the carrier with her other arm, "Come'on lazy! food's on!" she chuckled, quite pleased with herself and not even thinking she could've interrupted something.

Leighton was definitely not aware of this whole room assignment thing. At the very least, she isn't comfortable with the idea, how else could she enjoy her well deserved peace and quiet? Leigh has always put a high value on her own privacy and personal space and having someone else (unless a lover or partner perhaps) share that space is nothing short of uneasy. She could always just request her own private room but sooner realizing that there are only five bedrooms in total.

Wes led them to the hall, with Leigh following suite. There was mostly awkward silence as they walked towards their room, all the while Leigh would land her gaze on Wes, a few brief moments in between. Leigh never took into account how she felt the moment they met once again. While she watched him lead the others to their respective rooms, she wondered what he was thinking the whole time they were together. Was he still angry? Upset? Has he forgiven her or did he still care, despite what happened between them, even though the last two were merely wishful thinking. The thought of it slightly gnawed at her, since the moment she first read his invitation.

When Wes was about to leave, Leigh caught his eyes, with her locking the same quiet stare. She couldn't really say anything, not when there's anybody else around other than the two of them. It looked way more easier when she was rehearsing this moment in her head. After Wes had left, Leigh tried to distract herself with unpacking her belongings. One by one, she casually took containers of what seemed like, twelve different products for her skincare routine, neatly aligning them in the vanity table.

"I hope you don't mind if I take the bed near the window." Leigh asked for a go-ahead with her new roomie, without her particularly turning towards her direction. Despite not having a room of her own, Leigh was a bit relieved to know that at least they won't be sleeping in a double bed. Well, not that there's an issue sharing a queen bed with Park, or maybe anyone for that matter. When it comes to it she might not even mind if given the choice between that or sleeping on the couch for 2 consecutive weeks that is.

It's weird to think that she had once resented her for that one thing she did in highschool. Leigh wasn't used to being called out and in public no doubt, main reason maybe that nobody dared to try. And one day this girl from South Korea came strutting in and ending her whole highschool career. Well, not exactly but in a way. She never wanted to forgive her after that but at the same time it gave her something to reflect on in the future. She might even have her to thank for. Now, Leighton isn't quite sure what to think of her. It's always been a bit, weird between them after that incident and even now it had that same unsettling air. Leigh took discreet peeks at her direction, as if sizing her up. Has she always been this tall, she thought and her skin looks great too.

Emilio followed Wes as he paired people off into rooms. He was happy to room with Zoey, awkward feelings aside. After smiling and showing he was happy with the rooming, he headed back out to get his bags from the back of his car. Making a few trips to bring his bags in, it gave him a chance to think about how things were going to go. He was not so naive that he did not notice Zoey had fancied Marcus back in school. It had been one of the reasons he never acted on his feelings, since he did not want to do anything to hurt the friendship he had with Zoey.

Putting down his bags, he started to unpack as he hated living out of his luggage when travelling anywhere. Guessing that Zoey still had the travel bug, he had a few stories about New York as well as France. He had not made mention of it but he had gotten in touch with his dad. Deciding that box could remain shut for now, he went about finishing his unpacking he stashed the cases under the bed before grabbing some clothes to change. "I'm just going for a quick shower" he announced as he made a move to the bathroom before anyone else got any idea.

Letting his hair down from being tied up, he got into the shower, feeling the tension melt away under the hot water.

[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]ZOEY KING
[div class=role]bookworm and traveler[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Wow, Wes really had everything thought through. Zoey had to admit that she didn’t really think about the rooms so much, it never really crossed her mind and if it did, she would think about bunking with Leigh. The two couldn’t be more different. And somehow, during the senior year, they found a way how to not only get along but become close friends. Zoey had to honestly admit that she missed the talks with the popular queen. They were not afraid of one another, Zoey could always smack the sense into her and Leigh cooled her down when she was starting to slide into her know-it-all mode. But when Wes assigned her a room with Emilio, she was happy as well. They spent hours together, talking about the trips they would take, countries they would visit… It all seemed so far away now. But Zoey remembered that the idea of travelling with one of her best friends was very appealing. When did it all go to hell? She wouldn’t know but she really should cheer up. This was a reunion, not some funeral or what. Once they got in the room, Zoey started to unpack. She was not going to live like a squatter for two weeks so she carefully laid all her clothes in the wardrobe, making sure to leave enough space for Emilio as well. She took her sweater off, staying only in a white loose T-shirt. "I'm just going for a quick shower" Emilio said after he returned with all his bags. Zoey turned to him, nodding with a smile and her mind was back with memories again. She knew very well that passion for traveling was not the only thing she and Emilio shared. They had another big thing in common. Well, it was more who than what. Marcus. Now that Zoey was back and saw the man again, she felt the slight pinch on the bottom of her stomach again. He has always been insanely good-looking but he seemed to be like a good wine. The older the better. She has never acted on her feelings, first, because she was a coward when it came to that and second, she knew about Emilio and also Beau and didn’t want to mess their friendship up. Though the curiosity was eating at her how the situation is going to turn out. She decided to wait for Emilio so they could go and join the group together. She was also planning on saying a proper ‘hi’ to Wes since in this group, he was her oldest friend and they didn’t really have the chance to talk just yet.
