◈ Leigh Sinclair: Wes dated Leigh in high school. Despite her 'mean girl' persona, Wes liked hanging out with Leigh, and even introduced her to his friend group. Their relationship started as nothing serious, but after some time went by, he started to really care for her. The summer before senior year was when everything changed. Wes learned that his relationship with Leigh didn't mean as much to her as it did to him. She had been using their relationship to gain social status in school. While it was a hard decision, Wes ultimately broke up with Leigh. Even though the break up crushed Wes, he did his best to put his best face forward and remain friends with her, for the sake of not breaking up their friend group.
◈ Beau Yun: Wes met Beau while playing football. He was intrigued by Beau the first time he met the kid. Beau never struck Wes as the kind of guy who was into football, he was quiet and observant, unlike the other aggressive teenage boys on the team. Wes made it his mission to get to know Beau, and once he did, he knew that he had a real friend. During senior year, Beau disappeared and stopped answering Wes' calls. Wes tried everything he could, short of breaking into Beau's house, to get a hold of his friend. His feelings were genuinely hurt when Beau never came back around.

BIO

Early Life
Wesley James Yates was born with expectations already on him. His father is a business mogul by the name of Theodore Yates and his mother is former Spanish fashion model Maria Sanz-Yates. It was immediately believed that Wes would be the successor of his father’s business.

Wes spent the majority of his childhood with his mother, he rarely saw his father due to his business obligations. Wes didn’t mind not seeing his father, he was always hard on Wes. He loved spending time with his mother though. Maria was loving, and she encouraged him to explore and do things he loved. During this time, he found his love for sports, he loved being a part of a team and the thrill of competition. He started to spend more of his free time outside of school participating in different sports and competitions.

It was a complete surprise to him when at twelve his mother told him that she and his father were getting a divorce. He was upset by the announcement of course, but it really hurt him when his mother told him that he would be staying with his father while she returned home to Spain. Maria knew that Theodore would not let Wes leave with her, and that because of his money and influence she would not win a custody battle, but Wes didn’t know nor understand this.

Not long after the divorce was final, when Wes was close to starting high school, his father started to take more of an interest in him. Theodore pushed Wes to do better in school, and he told Wes to quit playing sports. Wes was not going to let that happen, he convinced his father to allow him to continue playing his favorite sport, football, because it would look good on his college applications. Wes never wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and take over his business, he saw how it had taken over his father’s life and he didn’t want that for himself.
After High School
Wes, much to his father’s dismay, decided against going to the ivy league college his father pulled strings to get him into. He instead decided to take a full ride football scholarship at a state school, so he could focus on a professional football career. His father was furious and told him if he didn’t do what he wanted Wes would have to move out of his house, Wes was more than happy to. With only a couple months until he would start school, Wes packed up and went to Spain to spend the summer with his mother.

One day while in Spain, Wes was playing a game of soccer with some of the kids that lived near his mother’s, when he blew out his knee. In a moment his college and professional football career were taken from him. With no other options for college, Wes called his father. Theodore agreed to pay for Wes to go to school, but only if he did exactly as his father asked, and went into business. Wes did what his father wanted and returned home after the summer to attend the college of his father’s choice as a business major. After graduating from college and business school, Theodore got Wes a job working in his company.

Wes hates the life he has been living, so when he saw the invitation to his high school reunion, he thought that seeing his old friends might be just what he needs to start enjoying life, like the old times...

1993-2006
Born to a father in the Army and a mother in an office in Incheon, South Korea, the earliest years of Seo-Yeon's life had her largely keeping herself company. Though her grandparents did often take care of her and give her the attention every child craves, it had an affect on her nonetheless. And it wasn't that she was neglected, or that her parents didn't do their jobs properly, it was simply the demanding nature of their work that kept them away. Something that Seo-Yeon held against them for quite some time, but in her adult years has come to accept.

During her time in elementary school, she attended a number of extracurricular activities and outside clubs to help fill the time until her parents got home. One of these was the local badminton club, though to call it a club would be somewhat inaccurate as it was more just a way for the children to get some exercise. Regardless of whatever its intent had been however, the few years Seo-Yeon attended had left an impact on her. One that would manifest itself into a life-long passion for the sport.

Her parents when present were safe to say your 'typical Asian parents' in regards to their high expectations and devotion to her education. Even in her childhood she was chastised for any semblance of 'poor performance', her father's reasoning being that it was to prepare her for high school, and life beyond. But that wasn't to say there wasn't many good memories, there were. Their trip to Australia being one of the fondest, even today, and it was a good thing too, as that trip had inspired her interest in English even prior to the Big Move as she likes to call it.

2006-2010
There would definitely be a lot to say about Seo-Yeon's Big Move. By the time she was 14 and entering her teenage years, her dad had been given a major opportunity in his career, a chance to work in America alongside his counterparts in the U.S. Army as part of some larger joint-command structure or some other military jargon she didn't understand. Even today all she knows about it is the bits and pieces she heard in the frequent discussions (See: Arguments) between her parents over the decision to move. She's never really bothered to ask about it.

And justifiably so too, the Move had her far more concerned about other things. Namely that she was leaving her entire life behind to move to some foreign land with weird looking and behaving people and a language that although was interesting, she was still terrible at. But her dad was the man of the house, and his decision was final. As such, over the course of the summer, they begun the move to America, the land of opportunity.

Fortunately there hadn't been any issues in finding a school for her to attend, or for English classes for her to take in her spare time. Being from South Korea, Seo-Yeon knew that she was being blessed at least in this field, as despite how difficult it was to adapt to an entirely new environment whilst learning a language. It was probably nothing compared to what high school back home would've been like. Regardless of those feel-good thoughts, the entire experience remained.. Intimidating, especially for the first year, when her "engrish" was still at the level that it was the subject of one or two mean-spirited jokes.

But she did meet people, and those people would eventually become some of her closest friends, and would become a big reason why American high school wasn't as horrible as it could have been for Seo-Yeon. Her English improved, she took up a proper badminton club this time around, went to parties, had nights out, got pressure from her parents, and all that good, regular school stuff. Byt the end of her time in high school, her English was near-fluent, she was.. Not to brag, but probably the best badminton player in the whole school, and her parents had for once actually been happy with her exam results. Not to imply that she had always done poorly in school, but it was a testament more to their high standards.

2010-2020
It wasn't long after the end of high school that the Park family returned to Korea, her parents having always known that America was never a permanent residence, and Seo-Yeon.. She didn't really know what to feel. She still doesn't. But her parents wanted her to go to university in Korea, especially with her bilingual status and time spent in the US, two things that would prove very alluring to the universities back home.

They'd been right, fortunately for Seo-Yeon. Settling slowly into life in Seoul, she'd been accepted into a rather prestigious university for a course in English Literature & Studies. It wasn't something that she was particularly eager to do, but when it came to careers, Seo-Yeon had always been slightly less passionate, seeing them as a means to an end. The end in this case being her real passions, her hobbies. Namely badminton and a newfound keenness for travelling internationally.

It would be while attending university that Seo-Yeon would meet Mina, her future girlfriend, who had been doing a nursing course at the same university as her. The two hit it off almost instantly, and it really was as hopelessly gay as the dramas made it appear to be. With the romantic cafe dates and walks along the Cheonggyecheon. It was everything the two of them could have wanted, and still is, much to their excitement. Graduating university, Seo-Yeon would go onto do translator work for KBS, one of Korea's largest television networks. Translating everything from news updates, to reality shows, to kdramas for English audiences.

Mina on the other hand would follow her real passion for nursing, working at a large hospital in downtown Seoul, and the two of the moving in-together in a small, but cozy apartment. Needless to say they both had a lot of fun decorating it. And so far the couple has traveled to Australia, Japan and Taiwan together, with plans to travel to somewhere in Europe together sometime soon. Although recently Seo-Yeon has had to yoink away some cash from their fund for personal business, something Mina thankfully did understand.

A trip back to America. Has it been ten years already?

Background

Sherry had always been the 'tough' one out of the group, the one the principle kept getting in trouble. The one who snuck out back to smoke and drink, the one who went to parties. But she wasn't dumb. She could ace a test if she tried, however studying was never really her 'thing' so she settled on the passing grade of C's. However she never bullied anyone (too badly) she was more of the party with everyone, hate no one, type of gal.

And she did form a close group of friends. It was when her and her friend were in a car accident in the last year of high school she actually cleaned up a little bit, it was a wake up call, and gave her one bad shoulder injury, but it inspired her to actually try at things.

Skip ahead a couple years and she was studying to become a tattoo artist, a passion of hers which her parents hated. She moved out of town, got a cheap apartment.... fell in love- But then, relapsed. She slept with a guy while drunken at a party one night after a fight with her girlfriend, she'd only just come out as on the bi-spectrum and it hit hard. That night was just a stupid mistake- till she found out she was pregnant.

With no way to contact the father, she worked extra hard. Her and her girlfriend tried to make it work but they ended up breaking up on good terms, and nine months later she had a beautiful baby girl.... And then, she got two invitations. And well, why not meet up with the old gang?

Overall statement: Friends with many, the real her known by few.

Wes- Her 'lil bro' of sorts, even though he was taller than her back then, she always saw him as someone she needed to protect from the world around them, and who she could always joke around with.

Leigh- The two always had a passive aggressive relationship, never through Sherry's fault. After all back then Sherry was pretty mellowed out and party-central more than being bothered to pick fights. However the two would have the occasional fight, near the end it became simply teasing out of affection. Sherry never wanted the other to slip into bad habits like her own though, such as smoking. And perhaps their friendly rivalries meant something more for Sherry, or maybe that was just the alcohol talking.

Park-

Zoey- If she was honest with herself- she defiantly had a crush on Zoey back in the days, quite a bit before she'd ever accept herself for liking girls.

Beau- The calmer one out of the lot. Don't get her wrong she really enjoyed being around him just!- their personalities and passions clashed at first, it was only when the boy one day caught her singing whilst sober and not hung-over that they really hit it off. She often came to the band sessions to cheer Beau on, even if she occasionally complained during band practice that they were too loud due to her headache.

Marcus- Sherry's 'partner in crime' so to say, the two got up to all sorts of mischief together at the school.

» BIOGRAPHY;
During her highschool years, everyone either adored Leighton or just plain despised her. She had the characteristics of a typical 'mean girl', who always has her way with things to get what she wants. You know, the girl who was queen bee for 4 consecutive years by bribing half the school. And the type who's only acting mean around her clique but is actually timid, insecure and somewhat nice in person.

As a young teenager Leigh only wanted to make a name for herself, and being the naive and clueless girl that she was, in the beginning she never really had a good choice of "friends".

Born to an upper middle class suburban family. Being the only child , her life was basically laid before her, without any form of effort and restrictions whatsoever, though in sad truth her parents just didn't want to deal with her. She was ignored, but still had her own erratic ways to gain her parents concern and attention, which she never really got.

A few years later her father got involved in a scandal, which sullied their family's reputation within their small suburban community. It was the first time she saw her parents care about something so much. It got so bad that Leigh herself couldn't handle the toxicity and stress from her problematic parents that by highschool she insisted that she move out for college, penniless and all, partly an act to gain her parent's consolation, which of course didn't work. She has no clue how to live independently but for her own dignity's sake, she eventually forced herself to get around it, and even learned how to manage herself without financial help from her parents. Well sometimes.

Almost a decade later and Leigh turned out to be a better woman than she used to be(not a 100% though, there's still some old Leigh there). Although, lately she had not only gotten out of a dead relationship, but she was also suspended from her work for being "too overbearing". It was around the same time her mother gave her a call since her dad's passing, asking her to come home at least for a few weeks.

Though hesitant at the idea, maybe going back home wont be as bad as she thought it would be, it might even be nice to have a change of atmosphere once in a while, maybe reconnect with old friends, old flames and even old enemies along the way.

BACKGROUND

Beau was born to a poorer family. His mother was an immigrant from Peru with a passion for art while his father, born in the states, was of African-American and Asian descent and worked a rather bland office job. Despite hardships, both of Beau's parents were both incredibly loving and tried their best to be present in his life.



The family moved around a lot for Beau's father's work. By high school they finally settled in a long-term home. The town quickly became one of Beau's favorite places they'd lived because, unlike the others, he was quick to make friends. From a young age, Beau was quiet and found it difficult to mesh with other kids. It didn't help that he was an only child. High school was different, however, and he grew very close with several people. He was still relatively quiet, but eager to spend time with his friends.



At the new school Beau partook in a couple of activities including football, basketball, and jazz band. By the middle of senior year he'd quit all of them after the death of his father. In fact, he virtually dropped off the face of the Earth with no explanation. He barely graduated high school and didn't even show up to graduation after spiraling into a deep depression.



Because of his family's financial status and the funeral costs, Beau couldn't afford to go to college nor did he have the grades in high school to get any scholarships. For a couple of years Beau was picking up whatever odd jobs he could and getting into drugs. After a wake-up call that nearly killed him, he realized something had to change.



For the first time since high school, Beau picked up his bass guitar. At first he started making music by himself and posted it online. Soon after, he found himself in an band called "Over 9" that specializes in rock music. Gradually it grew some popularity, enough that when paired with another side job, Beau was able to move out of his mom's house, get an apartment, and slowly pull his life back together.



10 years after high school and he's ready to face his old friends again. Perhaps he owes them a proper explanation and apology.

RELATIONSHIPS

Wesley Yates
Beau met Wes through football, giving them something to bond over. It was sort of a main introduction to the group. Beau always thought that Wesley was a pretty cool guy but could never really match his competitiveness. Even so, Beau was always supportive of his goals and was a strong advocate behind him doing what he wanted to do.

Park Seo-Yeon
Beau was always interested in hearing about Park's life back in Korea. He admired not only her intelligence, but her talent in sports. Watching her grow from a girl who couldn't speak English to someone borderline fluent was a very neat development to watch.

Sherry Rose
Beau enjoyed hanging out and partying with Sherry. But, when she needed it, he didn't mind being the designated driver. Sometimes he worried about her but ultimately knew that she could take care of herself and was open to learning from her mistakes.

Leighton Sinclair
Beau was never really sure how Leighton and him became friends. Either way, he accepted her into their group with open arms when she wanted to be around.

Zoey King
Beau was really proud of Zoey and her academic achievement, something few people in their friend group actually went out and bulked up. He wasn't blind to her crush on Marcus but also couldn't find it in himself to mind. In fact, he was rooting more for them than himself.

Marcus Pulaski
Beau spent the most time around Marcus. Not only did Beau party and skip class with Marcus on occasion, but they bonded over music which resulted in the formation of a small band that Beau loved more than anything. Before long he realized he had a crush on Marcus, but was never open about it. He decided he'd rather support Zoey from the sidelines even if it hurt more than he liked to admit.

Being a daughter of a history professor, Zoey was expected to be great. At least her academic results. And they were. She worked on her studies but not really hard. Things have always come to her naturally, she never needed to cram. High school was really nice time for her. She had her small group of friends, they were not bullied, they basically flew through quite successfully, avoiding all that drama which high school usually can provide. Zoey joined several clubs and the students’ council just to get her college application as shiny as possible. When she was accepted to Columbia, her father couldn’t be prouder. She majored in law and kind of liked it. However, she couldn’t say that becoming an attorney was what she really wanted to do. After graduation, she had an opportunity to join one of the biggest law firms in New York as an associate. But to the greatest surprise of her parents, she packed her backpack and left to South America, joining the backpacking trip with few of her friends. Zoey traveled for several years and only came back very recently, finding the invitation for the reunion. And then the other one. She has not seen her high school friends for years, only through the pictures on social networks. And when the opportunity presented to see the best friends she got there, she didn’t hesitate. She was wondering what happened with those people but then started to think what she was actually doing with her life. She is 28, has not roots and she loves it. But there is this feeing of insecurity how the others would look at her free spirited lifestyle.​

My goal for this rp was to have 6-8 characters...we now have 6!! I'm going to continue to leave the rp open to join for 2 more spots, but I don't want us to wait for them to be filled. The last things for us to do are to establish the personal relationships among our characters, we can do this on discord. The sooner we get that done, the sooner we can start. Background

Marcus was never exactly a model student back in the day. He wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and therefore didn't care much for his academics. Although he considers himself an entrepreneur of sorts, does a little sideline selling 'gummy bears' behind the bleachers after school.

Aside from that, Marcus had a natural gift to music, and most of the time he'd be seen hanging out with his guitar, a paper and pen at hand. He joined a band outside of school and they would organize gigs in bars. Despite being under age to go to a bar, he may have had a couple of fake id's in his possession

Marcus was raised in a big family, having 6 sibling with him being the oldest. Despite the constant chaos in their modest home, the Pulaski's are a tight and close knit family.

After high school Marcus studied in a community college outside of town, but dropped out after prioritizing his musical dreams, traveling to various cities to attend shows and gigs. He never really made it big though, but he was happy enough going out of town, meeting new people, discovering new things and just generally doing what he really loves. Seven years later though, his uncle contacted him and bequeathed him his small dive bar back home. For the next three or so years Marcus became the new manager of Uncle Pete's Dive Bar. He committed to his new found career, turning the establishment into a nifty music bar, where he would hold gigs from various local artists including himself.

History

Emilio was born to a fairly rich family. His father was born in the Versailles region of France, just outside Paris. With an older brother and his parents, Emilio thought his life was perfect. As he grew, he did not notice how the dynamic between his parents began to slowly change. When his brother turned 11, he went off to a private school to study. Emilio began counting down the days to when he would leave to start studying. Shortly after his 10th birthday, Emilio's parents split. With much arguing over what would happen, Emilio was sent to live with his mother back in his homeland of the United States with all holidays being shared equally between his parents.

losing contact with friends, Emilio struggled in the states. Even worse, communication began to break down with his father and brother. It was during this time that Emilio found a passion in dancing. This prompted talks between his parents and it was decided that Emilio would attend lessons a few times a week and if it showed promise he could take it up. It upset Emilio at first that he may not get to take up his hobby, but he found he was a natural talent at it, with his instructor singing his praises, this sold the idea to his mother. His mother was thrilled that Emilio was no longer in a rut and so the shopping was underway to prepare him.

Emilio promised his mother he would work as hard on his studies as he did on his dancing, not wanting to let her down. Despite pushing himself, Emilio kept to himself in school, being known as "The French Kid". Yet he found himself in with a group that would not usually gel together but things just did. Emilio's life, which he had sworn would be terrible in the states, suddenly was looking a whole lot better. His mother relieved that he was fitting in and making friends.

He excelled in school, it was his good grades and excellent dancing that got him into Julliard on a full scholarship. Upon graduating he made the move to New York, helped by a trust fund setup by his paternal grandparents. The next few years would see Emilio work hard and star in some productions. However he began to feel an odd nostalgia for where he grew up. with his college studies finishing up he got the bug to visit, he had a nice sum of money and the idea had floated in his head to open a school for dancing. To give kids a place to learn like he did growing up. As if by magic or just down to coincidence the notice for a reunion came up. That was all it took for Emilio to agree.

Packing some bags for the trip, Emilio got more and more excited at the prospect of going home and see his mother and friends again, wondering and hoping that everyone from the group would make the trip home.

RelationshipsMarcus:
Emilio gravitated to Marcus because they were both somewhat artistically inclined. In fact it had been Marcus who had first found out about Emilio's dancing. Instead of being any way negative, he had encouraged Emilio in that laid back way as if all of Emilios dreams were just a matter of getting them, like it was no big deal. Emilio knew for a fact that was the moment he began to fall for Marcus.

Zoey:
It was Emilio growing up in France and looking at attending school in New York that was the main talking point. It was her Optimistic nature that made Emilio believe that if was a matter of when not if their dreams came true, they would. The pair spent many a day planning the ultimate trip around france once their college careers were finished and the world was there's for the touring.

Sherry:
Sherry was the one who helped Emilio when he first came out. Before then it had been a case of they were acquaintances in the same group. Until Sherry found Emilio stressing, which she found funny since he was braiding his hair. In that moment they became firm friends with a slap when Emilio was worried about being different and wrong and she slapped some sense into him.

Wes:
What bonded Wes and Emilio, the Jock and the Dancer?. Dads who had not been in the picture for a while. It came as a surprise and not one known within the group. despite differences in the reasons and what the standing was. While Wes longed for the good old days with his mother, Emilio longed for answers and why the silence from his older brother and father.

Beau:
Like Marcus, Emilio and Beau bonded over the arts, plus Beau was always more than happy to drag Emilio out from his shell and engage in a somewhat social life. Emilio at the time had felt uncomfortable, but he was grateful Beau had pushed him to get out there and enjoy himself as well from time to time. Unaware they both had feelings for the same guy.

Park:
Parks confidence had been infectious, and Emilio could not help but admire how fearlessly she lived her life and encouraged him to do the same. Why hold back when you can do whatever you want. It had been a running joke that at any dancing competition, she cheered louder than any Dance mom that would be in attendance. But of course Emilio was the same for her.

Leighton:
Emilio and Leighton were a weird pair, unsure just quite how it happened, possibly a mutual love of Dance moms and other Trash TV that was the shaky bond that anchored them within the group to each other.
