A Little About Scela and Forella:
The Scela Kingdom is known for its agriculture, and simple lifestyle. Unlike the Forella Kingdom, Scela does not have riches and jewels. Their countrymen are known for their practical thinking and loyalty to others. While they may not be boisterous, they are the best in a fight, and are too proud to back down from one. Their house colors are forest green, navy blue, and black; their house sigil is a boar.

The Forella Kingdom sits atop mountains, showing its people and its enemies its power. Because the kingdom is so mountainous, agriculture does not thrive in this region. The Forella Kingdom is known for its mining industry, supplying the kingdom with many riches. Because of their riches the Forellen people like to show off their wealth by dressing ornately and throwing lavish parties. The house colors of the royal family are red, gold, and white; the house sigil is a lion.

Kingdom: Scela
Role: Princess

Appearance:
Height: 5'3" (153 cm)
Weight: 120 lbs (54 kg)
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Personal Style:
Rosie prefers light pastel colors on a day to day basis. However at Royal functions or meetings she will dawn the colors of her kingdom. She packed quite a few Navy and Forrest Green dresses for her stay in Forella. As if to send a message. (The last image are her riding clothes)

Persona:
Personality:
Rosaline, or Rosie has her family and close friends call her, is not one for talking much. Mainly because she is deaf, but also because she very shy and likes to keep to herself. If it weren't for her parents and siblings she probably would never leave the castle. She is perfectly content staying at home and painting all day. Although it is hard to get her to open up, she has a very kind soul and is very caring towards the people she is close with. You will never find anymore more loyal and trustworthy then Rosaline. If she knew how to fight, she'd be the one you'd go to to help you set someone straight.
Likes:
Painting, Horses, Flowers, Fiction Stories, Being Alone, Girls
Dislikes:
Large Crowds, Parties, Rain, Overly Confident People, Most Men
Fears:
Going Blind and everything to do with the marriage. She's afraid of what might happen if she refuses to marry him, but she also afraid of loosing the love she already has. She's afraid of what people will think of her relationship and she can't stand the thought of letting her family and people down.
Bio:
Rosie lost her hearing at a young age due to illness. To cope with the hearing loss, she took up drawing and painting and became quite good at it. Although she couldn't hear, she could still see, and she thanks above everyday for it. Rosie became very close to her family and attaches herself to them at parties and other such functions. They quickly realized that writing down whatever it was that Rosie wanted to say was not working. So they all learned sign language. They even hired a translator for Rosie so she could branch off away from her family at parties. Rosie is quite uninterested in meeting her betrothed. She could honestly not care less about getting married and would be perfectly content to live the rest of her days out in seclusion with nothing but her painting supplies and a few good books. Although a few of the handmaidens around the castle have peeked her fancy here and there. (But she wouldn't dare tell anyone that)

Since Rosie was the the first born, and technically the heir to her throne, she had many rigorous classes on how to be queen. She studied very hard because she took her crown very seriously, but at the same time there was always a voice at the back of her head that dreaded the marriage to come. She wanted, and still wants to make her family proud and her do good by her country, but at what cost? Must she give up her own happiness for the happiness of others? Her parents always said they wanted nothing but the best for her; they wanted her to be happy. But this marriage wouldn't make her happy. It would make her anything but. But to keep the peace between Scela and Forella, the union had to happen. There were no other options. Rosie is at constant war with herself over all of this; she prays every night to any god who will listen for a way out of the marriage. But no one has shown her one yet.

Persona:
Personality:
Anthony is a man of few words. He speaks when necessary and he speaks bluntly. He's hurt many a lady's feelings and many a man's pride with his words. He doesn't mean it though. He tries his best but it never quite comes out the way he wants it to. He prefers to stay to himself and has few friends outside of his brothers and adviser. He does have a sense of humor; although dry and many don't quite understand it. He's just an all around awkward man. He is also quite observant. He knows far more that he probably should, but he doesn't let on. He allows everyone their own privacy and when they're ready to tell him, he'll be all ears, pretending he doesn't already know.
Likes:

Dislikes:
Rain Storms, Insects, Most Social Events, Spicy Foods
Fears:
Thunderstorms, Going to War
Bio:
Anthony was not the oldest of his brothers. In fact he was third in line. His older brothers were twins. Thomas Henry Candante II (named after his father) was first born and then a few minutes later came Spencer Dorian Candante. Thomas was a frail child who could never pick up a sword. He was far better with his studies than with any training. However Spencer was far better suited for being heir. And since they were twins, Anthony's father had no problem pronouncing Spencer the heir instead of Thomas. Anthony was born a few years after the twins, followed by another younger brother named Victor and twin sisters Marjorie and Mary. Anthony was fine with his position in the middle of the pack. He was able to study with his siblings and not worry about any sort of big responsibility with being King like Spencer. Spencer had way more classes and training sessions than any of the other siblings. But when Spencer was 19 and Anthony 16, there was a terrible accident. (It was really an accident...it was the middle of a war...besides the point) Spencer was on the battle field, defending Forella well when he was struck down by a Scelan solider. The fighting stopped while the Royal family mourned the death of the heir. But once all was said and done, Anthony became the heir. (Seeing as Thomas was still unfit for the role) Suddenly, Anthony was taking up all of his brother's classes. Learning things about a nation that he never wished to have known. That is when he decided there must be peace between Forella and Scela. And he would be the king to do it.

Not long after Spencer's death, Anthony's father and mother began the rigorous search for his bride. Anthony truly found all of the fuss over who he would marry quite ridiculous. He had never really been interested in any of the noble women within the court. Not that there was anything wrong with them, on the contrary. He was quite close with a few of them. However he never felt especially attracted to any of them. It wasn't long though, until his parents found Lady Carmella Sorrento. She was the same age as him, and very well educated. Anthony wasn't necessarily attracted to her but she...stood out from all of the other women he had met before. Her mind was something different. She had, passion, drive, a purpose. He admired that in her. And the way she was able to talk to people. Anthony truly fell in love with the woman not because of her beauty but because of her mind. The arrangement was made and they were wed only a few months later. (Time was of the essence seeing that his father's health was growing weaker and any day Anthony could take the throne.) It was one of the happiest days of Anthony's life. He will never forget how beautiful his bride looked on the day of their wedding.

When his son was born, Anthony was elated. He finally understood what his parents had meant all those years ago when they spoke of the love they felt for their children. It was unlike any emotion Anthony had ever felt before. He would die for this tiny human laying in his arms. At any given moment he would do anything to keep this boy safe. And that is when all of the memories of his brother Spencer came back. Anthony could only imagine the pain his parents felt when he died. He didn't want that for his son or any of his other children to come. He wanted a better life for him. So that is when Anthony began his search for peace with Scela. He had to find a way to bring the two kingdoms together, if not for his own sake, but for the Prince. He went over hundreds of ideas with his advisers and generals, but all led to war. Until the marriage was proposed. (No pun intended) Anthony thought long and hard on it. Not only was he reluctant just because of the life long feud between the two kingdoms, but he didn't want to force his son into something so serious, so permanent. He didn't want his son to be unhappy his whole life with a woman from a kingdom whom he was born to despise. Not only that, but he wasn't sure the king of Scela would agree to it anyway. Scelans were proud people, it was just in their blood. There was a fat chance in hell that the Scelan King would ever agree to this. But Anthony saw no other solution. And so, he send a diplomat with a letter. And the rest, is history. All that Anthony hopes now is that things will go smoothly, and that the Prince will learn to accept...or maybe even love his bride.

Persona:
Personality:
Terrance is very ambitious, though perhaps his goals are a bit out of reach. His love for cooking began at a young age when he discovered how much a bit of salt and spices improved dinnertime. While his family appreciated the tasty meals, it was seen as little more than an interesting quirk. But when young Terry discovered the world of baking… there was no turning back.

His passion led him from his small village to the kingdom’s main city. Of course, opening a bakery was no easy task. One needed money and years of experience. He… had neither; and so his struggle to find an apprenticeship led him to working in several taverns and bars in between. And everywhere he went, it was very clear he had talent. After showing continued interest, one of his connections brought him in contact with the royal kitchens, where he started out small but quickly rose in ranks. He’s also shown quite a talent for plating which has only grown with the number of lavish parties thrown by the royals. He aims to become head cook down the line but still lacks experience and leadership skills.

Persistent, he does not know when to quit, which can be both good and bad. Perhaps that can explain how he finds himself in a secret relationship with the Forellan Prince.

Thoughtful, firm believer that the right treat or meal can make a person’s day. On days he’s in charge of plating meals for the family, he’ll add special touches specific to each family member. Either adding/removing food based on their tastes, or little decorative additions to make them smile in the morning.

h1pvMbQoUZgTKACkhOz8Jdm_Iv-qTYY4F-VdtI1I7iLnhxSnVwLUZfGJGzhVMOJ7-_34EJ0PRHmLZ0DJaQy3MYJDHhJWR6Ad3Ci7oplmnMsU4RnREVFmrq-4BYau8C31R3Ya50ZX

He’s also rather awkward at times. His passion drives him forward, and even though he hasn’t achieved his goals exactly as planned, he just hopes, eventually, he’ll be exactly where he needs to be.

Likes:
Baking (cooking in general); Trying new recipes; Singing (he can’t sing but that won’t stop him); Long walks, low-stress hiking; Watching the castle’s lavish parties, though thankfully from the sidelines, and enjoying the beautiful music and appreciating all the stylish outfits

Dislikes:
Physical labor-- working in the kitchens can be taxing, but he would take that over something like blacksmithing or swordplay any day; Being put on the spot or public speaking because he can just get so incredibly awkward; Gambling, because while it’s sometimes a necessity, he’s bound to lose a lot, and he has before

Fears:
Being sent to the mines…. Though the mines bring riches and glamour to Forella, the miners themselves are dealt a grueling life. With every passing day, and every secret kiss, he’s just one wandering eye away from being cast away into the dark caverns. To lose his love and life’s passion all in one would be more than he could handle. (There hasn’t been any indication the King and Queen would actually send him to the mines as a criminal, but Ter still feels this is a possibility if he’s discovered.)

And he fears the future. How long can their secret relationship last when his love is betrothed? How can he possibly continue working in the castle, watching the prince from the sidelines? Should he leave and follow his dreams elsewhere? And… where would he go?

Bio:
Terrance grew up in a smaller village with his parents and two older brothers. Their father is a decent blacksmith, his brothers following in his footsteps and improving on the craft. Terrance, however, was never passionate about the work. He could make a decent tool or a poor sword but nothing to make a living by. His true passion is baking and cooking in general.

At 16, he boldly moved to the main city for better job opportunities. Worked in taverns and apprenticed in bakeries to improve his natural talent. Though his passion is baking, he became increasingly set on working in the castle. While his dream is to open his own bakery he realizes that may not come to fruition. It’s hard to open your own bakery without money.

He’s been working in the castle for a couple years, moving up rather quickly once the Head Chef noticed his natural talent. Though his baking skills are to die for, his other skills need improvement. His artistic plating for parties and general day-to-day are on point. However, having a difficult time leading the team will stop him from making Head Chef.

And now… somehow, he’s ended up in a secret relationship with the prince. It happened slowly yet somehow the details always get jumbled in his mind. How much longer they’ll have together… he doesn’t know, but he makes the most of every secret minute.

appearance

FC: Rosamund Pike
Carmella is a tall woman (5 ft 8 inches) with a statuesque build and long, ashen blonde hair that she generally wears upswept into elegant arrangements. Blue eyes look upon the world with a level of cool indifference. Her facial features are handsome, rather than beautiful, and give every indication that they will continue to age well.

When it comes to fashion, Carmella favors garments of the most luxurious design. She is neither as ostentatious or as daring as she used to be. She does however, favor the same rich fabrics and seeks to present herself as befits her title and position within the King's household in swaths of bright jewel tones; particularly pearl whites and sapphire blues that do little but highlight that porcelain skin and her golden hair.

personality

Mother, wife, confidante, diplomat, and mediator, Carmella looks very much the part of the obsequious Forellan noblewoman. The look is deceiving. Beneath the dainty and poised exterior, a cold strength steels her spine and resolve. She is the hardened side of her marriage to Anthony, and, as a result, often the first line of defense against him. While performatively deferential toward her husband as the world believes she should be, that does not mean she agrees with him in all matters. Behind closed doors, she will offer her counsel bluntly but respectfully, but will give way for her superiors' will should push come to shove. She is calculating, and having witnessed the mistakes of others in the past have fueled and tempered her ambitions simultaneously. She desires power and security for her son, and will do what is necessary to garner it. However, she will not be so foolish as to act without thought and plans.

backstory

Carmella Marisa Sorrento was born in the heart of Forella to Lord Demetrio and Lady Ottavia Sorrento, the final child of five - two sons and three daughters. As the baby of the family she was doted on, and wanted for nothing. Her parents tried to provide her and her four siblings with the best of everything, but she was prevented from becoming spoiled by Lord Demetrio's insistence that, like all his children, she receive a comprehensive education as early on as possible. she absorbed all the knowledge available to her. Philosophy, poetry, literature, mathematics, sailing, politics, there was no subject she did not seek to learn. Someday she knew she might inherit a share of her father's holdings, and she wished to not disappoint his memory.

Unfortunately, Demetrio had other plans. He had finally found a use for his daughter.

The engagement was announced to her on the eve of her 16th birthday. She was to marry His Highness, the Prince Anthony Candante. He was a scrawny looking youth in Carmella's eyes, nothing like the depictions of a strong, masculine lionheart she had imagined a prince would embody, but such things were unimportant in the grand scale, said her father. Everything had been arranged between Demetrio and the House of Candante. Their courtship was short -- hardly the stuff of romance novels -- and they were married immediately after Anthony's coronation.

Three years after being wed, after many struggles and miscarriages, a child quickened in Carmella's womb. Shortly thereafter, their son Bryson was born and immediately swept away from his mother and into the arms of his father the King. It was one of the few moments that Carmella can remember ever having seen Anthony Candante smile.

Since then, Carmella has jumped headlong into overseeing her son's education, arrangements, and burgeoning court life. Some may see her interest and control over the boy's as overbearing, but she only sees it as ensuring he will have what he is meant to have: power.

Then, the Scelans wrote them a letter of betrothal.

Carmella wasn't sure why it felt so wrong. She was not losing a son, only sending him away. To enrich his life, no less, to bring an end to war. She should be proud of him, she should be excited. Neither of those emotions were at the forefront of her mind, however, or her heart. Fear was predominant. Fear for what waters Bryson would wade into, fear for what ills might befall him, of what he may be tempted into in his marriage. Was Bryson strong enough to fulfill his duties? Was his resolve strong enough to see her remain true to his heart and his family? Carmella didn't know. How could she?

Persona
Personality:
Protective, particularly over family and a couple close friends he considers brothers
Mischievous, but his pranks have toned down as he’s gotten older
Proud, not boastful, but competitive
Blunt, he has not mastered the subtleties of the court, although he is learning to bite his tongue

Likes: Horses/Riding/Hunting, dogs, archery, outdoors, swordplay, pranks

Dislikes: boring parties, schooling (though he is quite bright), formal clothing, rain

Fears: Deep down he does fear his feelings towards Forella, and if they will lead him to make terrible mistakes in the future.

Bio:
Much like his sister, Roland continues to take several intensive classes to prepare him for his role in the kingdom. He generally finds the classes quite boring while thriving in his physical training (sword fighting, combat, horseback riding, etc.) As a younger boy the idea of going to war was fascinating. He dreamt of defeating the enemy and becoming a hero like in the stories. The enemy always started with the letter “F” and ended in “orella”. Of course, being born in a time of peace, the Forellans were no longer a threat... nonetheless, in his games the boar always defeated the lion. While his childish idealization of war would fade, the old war stories would stay with him and feed into a general distrust for the Forellans. And with the day approaching where Prince Bryson will “steal away his sister”, this distrust is festering. Whether or not his family shares these ill feelings, they’re very real for him.

Don’t let his fascination with war fool you-- Roland is quite mischievous. He enjoys playing pranks on his family, friends, and even the servants. Nothing cruel, mind you, just silly jokes when he’s bored or someone needs a laugh (switching paintings in the halls, leaving little critters for the servants to find, convincing the cooks to serve an entire dinner of just pies, ect.). There was that one time he pretended to break his arm falling out of a tree to get out lessons… but it backfired, and he ended up missing out on training instead. Wouldn’t you know it, you need a strong arm to hold a sword, not to recite history. As he’s grown older the pranks have tapered off, but he does enjoy making people smile. And it comes in handy when he’s bored at parties or functions and trying to help Rosie relax at them.

Jules is a thin, tall man, standing around 6’0. His posture is almost impeccable, save for a slight slouch in his shoulders when he's sitting. His black-hair is medium-length, long enough to form soft curls atop his head. He also keeps a well trimmed beard. His brown eyes shine with a touch of amber when the light hits them directly, and his lips always seem on the verge of a smile. First impressions are of the utmost important to him, as is displaying his wealth and status at a glance. Because of this, Jules' clothing is always in the latest fashion and impeccably tailored and usually accompanied by some kind of fur trim or accessory.

personality

Sanguine and sagely, Jules projects an unfailing aura of easygoing calm. His blithe nature can be mistaken for indifference and it is rare to see him show true exuberance, save in the company of a select few. A lifetime with the eyes of duty peering at him and examining his every move have lead him to lead a careful life, but for now he does what is necessary to bring respect to his family's name -- as well as anything that can assist his friend in these circumstances. For the most part, though, he is quick to laugh, fast to talk, and often finds it easy to make friends. His heart is in the right place most of the time and he does his best to help those around him lead a happier life. That could mean donating some coin to the more deserving or taking them to out for drinks to unwind.

backstory

Julius Amrit Urbain was born healthy on a warm summer afternoon to the Lord Malcolm Urbain and his wife Siya, the fourth child of the family's five children, and the youngest son.

Chiefly a military family, The Urbains have been unwaveringly devout courtiers to the royal house, sharing with them the burden of protecting the nation along the border to Scela. They claimed blood ties at one point to the Candantes, but the relations are too distant to matter by now.

From a young age, Jules was taught the value of duty and pretense. He was a model of behavior and as good a son as his father could ever ask, but he was doted upon a bit more by his mother. His three older brothers were destined to be soldiers and commanders in the Scelan war, but she could keep Jules all to herself. His early childhood remained pure, and he keeps fond memories made with his siblings, nannies and servants that attended to him.

Jules met Bryson Candante at 6 years old by Lake Orta near the palace, when he grabbed the younger boy by the ankle to keep him from falling forward into the water. It was the first time Jules had saved from trouble, but not the last, for Bryson possessed an abiding thrill-seeking attitude about, well, everything. But ever since that day, the two have been nigh-inseparable, and Jules will admit, he's been willing to cross boundaries of both legal and social persuasions for the sake of his friend.

Bio:
Bellatrix is the second born child to King Anthony Thomas Candante and Queen Carmella Marisa Candante. Seeing as she was a princess, she had many tutors and lessons to prepare her for her life as a potential future monarch. For as long as Belle can remember, her teachers have always told her she would marry someone very powerful. How could she not? She was the princess of a wealthy kingdom and a beautiful one at that. She can remember attending court events as a child and all of the noblemen and women trying to set their sons up with the beautiful princess. All of that attention changes the way you not only perceive the world but also yourself. Belle became one spoiled princess. And who could blame her? She was the youngest in her family and a daughter no less. All Belle had to do was bat her pretty eyelashes at her father or one of her governesses and she could have anything she wanted.

Bellatrix has always loved court life and all the balls her family would throw. And she loved flirting with the noble boys her age. She knew it was unbecoming of a princess to flirt willy-nilly with any handsome boy who looked her way. But she didn't really care. It was all in good fun for Belle and she never took the flirting too seriously or too far. That was until she met the son of a foreign diplomat. A young man by the name of Lord Marcelo Alessi. Lord Marcelo was handsome beyond belief and had the charm and wit to match. They were often seen together not only at parties but all over the castle grounds. Many people at court thought that the couple would be betrothed; it seemed like the most logical next step. But all good things must come to an end. The day had started out like any other, Bellatrix had woken up at dawn to get ready to meet Marcelo for breakfast. She dawned her prettiest morning gown and most lovely hair pieces. Belle was beaming and beautiful as she walked the halls of the castle toward the dinning hall. It was a beautiful summer day, perfect for walking the gardens. Perhaps she would drag him through the gardens to look at the roses. How she loved the roses. The doors swung open to the dinning hall and instead of a handsome young Marcelo, his father was standing by the table set for two. Lord Alessi couldn't look the young Princess in the eyes. He explained to the Princess that Marcelo had left just before dawn on a ship back to his homeland. He was to be married off to the Baroness of their country. Belle was heartbroken. The only person she had every felt truly connected with was gone and she'd never see him again. Never get to hold his hand or run her fingers through his soft hair. Belle was not seen at court for months.

A year has passed since Marcelo left the Forellan court. Belle has moved on, but the loss hardened her heart. She no longer flirts with the boys at court. Her smiles was far and few between and she became stoic. Nothing like the playful young girl she once was. With the upcoming arrival of the Scelan Royal family, everyone has been focused on her older brother and his marriage to Princess Rosaline. Bellatrix doesn't feel one way or another towards the joining of the two kingdoms. She simply wishes for all of the fuss to be over and for life to go back to normal.

personality

Tracy comes across as sullen or reticent when first encountered in a social situation. His resting face is not a happy one, but once engaged he can be all smiles and friendly conversation. This is mainly due to when he is not engaged in conversation he is contemplating his next job or remembering things that he would rather not.

When appealing to those of higher rank -- or instigating conversation on his own -- he can be quite outgoing. His expression can come across as kind, rather than condescending during these interactions. He has found that others can trust him easily.

He is meticulous in everything he does, from the way he arranges his food to the crispness of his clothing. Along with this comes a touch of arrogance. His ego is not delicate but at times it is inflated and could benefit from being knocked down a peg or two.

backstory

Tracy's early years were about as unremarkable as that of his family's status. The Walshams were members of Scelas growing gentry class, but still were of both middling wealth and influence. His father while a good man, lacked the aptitude to succeed in much of anything. Tracy's mother however was quite the opposite and did what she could to see that the family didn't fall into complete ruin. There was much he would learn from her over the years on how to navigate the realm of politics.

He was schooled in the manner of most nobles, though it became clear early on that the boy had little ability in the martial realm. What he did have was a sharp tongue, an even sharper mind, and a knack for languages. These traits would see him rise quickly within the Scelan ministries. While he didn't feel like politics were the ideal position for his talents, he still did enough to stand out.

Somewhat to his surprise, Tracy found himself initially working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from there it was inevitable that he would find himself appointed as an interpreter and cultural liaison for the deaf Princess Rosaline, given his diplomatic discretion and his suitable proficiency in Scelan sign language. But even though Tracy has studied the language, customs, and society of Forellan high society, he fears he is in for one hell of a culture shock. The importance of his position in the wake of the upcoming marriage has occupied his thoughts -- whether he should fulfill the role of the interpreter to remain a neutral party to royal business, or if he should use his considerable influence beside the princess to tip the political scales.

Persona
Personality:
Edward was born and raised with a clear sense of duty to his kingdom. Protecting Scela ultimately leads to certain sacrifices for himself and his family. He is also calm and slow to anger.

Duplicit in nature, Edward feels most at ease on the field yet most alive in the comforts of home. Commanding an army is easy-- unraveling the intricacies of court, not so much. He has a few trusted advisors to support him within and across his borders during tough decisions. He isn’t ashamed to take advice, but ultimately makes the final decisions, whether good or bad.

If it were up to him, he’d spend his days with his family or in nature alone. Whether it’s hours spent sparring/training, hunting in the wilderness, or the quiet moments in the gardens, he loves every moment with his wife and children. He is proud and willing to fight for his country but it is the quieter moments he enjoys most.

Likes: a good book, horses, nature, chess or other games, gardening, thunderstorms
Dislikes: fish, staying indoors for too long, archery (though he is quite skilled)
Fears: returning to war, failing his kingdom and his family

Bio:

Born during a time of turmoil, Edward carried his kingdom’s future on his shoulders as the King and Queen Adler’s only child. While he studied many subjects, he mainly trained for his future on the field as the relations with Forella seemed to worsen. He has a few trusted advisors that have supported him during his reign where his knowledge is lacking. As a young man, he saw his share of the brutalities of war as he led and fought alongside his people. They are the years he wishes to forget.

It was a bittersweet victory when the Forellan heir fell in battle. During the uneasy truce, while the Candantes mourned, something shifted within the Scelan heir. It was an odd realization that his rival, this other young man he’d learned to hate, was gone. They had never met, let alone fought, and now they never would. He started having many doubts about the war, yet kept them hidden away lest he appear weak to his people. All the same, he realized it could just as easily have been him that fell.

His parents seemed to have similar thoughts, and began searching for the prince’s future bride. Edward would return home from the borders several times as his parents arranged for him to meet eligible young ladies. The parties were a bit overwhelming, and he found it difficult to connect with anyone, no matter how lovely they all seemed. Eventually, however, the heir found a queen.

Trying to keep the Scelan lands healthy and bountiful while protecting their borders proved a difficult start to their early reign. Their armies were powerful, but the rival kingdom was equally strong. After the birth of sweet Rosaline, his desire to end the never ending feud with Forella increased. And then a diplomat arrived carrying a small letter with a big proposal. An arranged marriage, the letter suggested, between Little Rosie and the Scelan prince, still a baby himself. Many discussions were had, but not with his advisors, who approved the proposal, but with his wife, until it was decided this was a perfect arrangement. Rosaline would have a peaceful upbringing, and after the marriage, a prosperous life as the powerful queen of two kingdoms.

Edward knows Rosie is not thrilled with this arrangement, but a safe kingdom is a happy kingdom. Their lands will continue to prosper, and with the added Forellan wealth and strength, their people can finally experience real peace and prosperity. And he hopes that she will learn to love her future husband, or at least find companionship in their union. Because without a successful union, their decades-long truce will come to an end, and the two kingdoms will return to war.
