  • Kill One Hundred Gods

Long ago, in the land of Magna Orbita, there were a hundred Divinities.

Each God had their own domain, and their own phase-aspect: a manifestation of their domain within their soul, which itself split into a number of minor souls. These "minor souls" were the Gods' children, their angels, and parts of them in the same. Simply put, each of the gods was a crystal or a gem, with multiple facets; and yet, each facet being its own independent crystal.

    A hundred Gods, then.

Ten of the Supreme Celestial Circle, and three of the Second Celestial Circle for each of the Supreme, and the remaining sixty children among the Third Celestial Circle. And below these all-powerful Celestials were beasts and monsters: children born of their blood, salt, sweat, and ichor. The Gods of the Terrestrial Circles, of which there are many, and in which the humans dwell almost at the very bottom.

In Magna, humanity is nothing but a low sub-race. A dozen hunters for a less-than-percentile chance to defeat a Divinity of the Third Circle, or a hundred to scratch one of the Second in a manner which it will forget about within seconds. Cogitate not even of a strike against the Supreme - they shan't notice your wan efforts, and you cannot comprehend how to damage them in the first place.

Theirs was a reign of tyranny and brutality: a city of humans displaced and destroyed, for Lethos, the Flowerbed Panoply, the Primordial Deity of Nature, needed a place to settle down. The flower's roots consumed countless homes like merciless spears, destroyed ancient ports and temples by overgrowing them in noxious thickets, and sucked power from the very earth, turning every crop of barley and wheat into a deadly, withered poison.

Its lower souls - its angels, of the Second Circle - assured the humans it meant no ill, it merely required a place to sit down and bask in the sun's beauty... and if a couple hundred thousand meaningless lives were extinguished in the process, who cares? Humanity is a bonfire meant to provide the Gods warmth, affection, and worship: its individual sparks meant nothing and were to be extinguished as the Gods pleased. It was the way of life and the way of being.

Until one mortal, meaningless, decided these Celestials have ruled over humanity for too long.

If you beat flint against stone for a hundred years, eventually, one of the trillion-trillion sparks will fly off, refusing to extinguish like the rest. Where the other sparks of heat died down in seconds, crushed by circumstance or lost to the uncaring cold of the universe, one spark is often enough.

One spark, in the right place, at the right time, shearing its way and ignoring the cold, dodging the leaves carried by the heavy wind, settles down as an ashen ember.

It settles down, and even though it knows it is about to die, with its last breath, it lights a brilliant fuse. The flammable zeal of the fuse will not stop where the spark had - its flame will grow brighter and more brilliant with each day, moving closer and closer, until it finally reaches its terminus...

And the Gods will now drink their own blood for their sin.

Hey Birdsie Birdsie , just a thought, but any chance you could maybe do a lore page or something for the RP just to explain a few things e.g. the GG HQ, the Maverick, New Sheldrake etc. as I'd personally found it very helpful.

New Sheldrake

A shining gem of human radiance.

Over the last ten years, there have been thousands of immigrants. The current population censuses can only be carried out in a rough manner, since more tribes arrive almost every single day, but current population is above 100k citizens.

Thanks to the power of civilized enlightenment, and Zao Khan's sheer ingenuity, science was pushed to the brink of growth. In this decade alone, humanity abandoned its old cottages of wood and stone villas, in favor of streets of poured concrete and towering spires of metal and glass windowpane. Likewise, horses and carriages are being replaced by gasoline and cars. Inventions such as "telephones," "radio," or "TV," are incredibly novel, and don't have too much traction yet, but a lot of the humans in this setting are preternatural craftsmen. Although human civilization pales in comparison to the dwarves, who live in a collection of underground megapolis of engineering and scientific utopia, it is an advancement once unimaginable.

A lonely city-state such as New Sheldrake needs to be self-sufficient almost by definition. As such, the economy and industry are all over the place: lumber, mining, crafts and arts; everything is developing, and there is no region in which people are unwanted. Finding work and money is rather easy, despite the overall state of things, and it could be said that "humanity is flourishing." A significant amount of the tax goes to policing and military, with good cause; Vormloss serial killers, non-human thieves and monsters on the fringes of the city are found almost every day.

The central districts of the city have been constructed, quite literally, over the corpse of Lethos, like a brilliant chrysalis of metal, glass, and steel pipelines. A maintenance worker crawling through the veins might find himself brushing against the tender green flesh of the Flower That Consumed. Lethos' corpse is also being, in numerous places, cannibalized for energy. A God of the First Circle cannot be truly killed, you see - to kill Lethos would be equivalent to slaying every blade of grass and every flower in existence - but its body remains "dead" nonetheless, and Quintessential Rituals are used to pour energy from it in order to feed the pipelines with magical energy. This energy is being led to conversion centers, which metabolize this energy into electricity, which is used to fuel machines, lanterns, batteries, etc.

Gyzyl Ganhor Headquarters

Six-floor building in the military district, predominantly from steel and glass, constructed in the modern architectural style, around five years ago. Mostly contains a barrack, training chambers with a holodeck capable of simulating conflict, some briefing and meeting rooms, an archive, evidence storage, general storage, and a temporary holding cell for any captured EOW deemed too important for execution. Not much else.

Maverick

The corpse of a dragonfly the size of an elder dragon repurposed and twisted with human ingenuity. What once used to be a proud creature is now under thrall by its pilot; an engine that connects to the pilot's brain, that he may pull the neural cords of the almost-dead creature.

In other words, a dragonfly clad in metal, with additional rotors added for better maneuverability and speed, and it has a massive chamber carved in its belly for transporting resources or manpower to areas of conflict.
