The ship shook enough to rattle the chair Kairo sat in but not to the point where it would knock him to the floor.
The typical protocol must have been skipped in favor of swift departure. A blast of lightning struck the Noah, followed by a near deafening clap of thunder. The Coastal Apex drew nearer.
"Please stay inside your quarters as the ship launches." Yui's voice came from the very walls. Hissing came after, and the quaking ceased as balancing pressure readjusted the ship for the sudden movement.
Even then, Kairo's ears popped, either from the depressurization or to show a sign that the ship was launching.

The Noah began to ascend from the facility, scaring off a few Hypos with its mass and booming engine sounds.
The Alpha Male just tossed the Oni wreckage at the North Apex, and whipped its armored head with his tail. The crack of hard scale on bone-armor echoed across the battlefield. The North Apex reeled and roared in both surprise and pain. The sound was like an erupting volcano that layered with bestial rage.
Two Crusaders took this moment to charge with their main cannons firing. The car-sized shells chipped its underbelly's hide and bounced off its armored head like mere pellets.
In a snort of hatred its attention turned to the mechanical assaulters, the crest and chest beginning to glow as it inhaled. Rearing back to stand upright, it opened its maw and a concentrated beam of pure heat exploded from its mouth. The source of the beam in its mouth flashed blue, but the beam itself was a bright mix of orange and white.
In seconds, it sliced the first Crusader in half and melted the head and torso of the second as it swept its gaze over them.
Turning to the skies, it cut circling Hypodraconis like a knife to butter. Bodies, wings, and severed necks fell to the Earth in a rain of burning carnage.
The Alpha Male howled at the slaughter of his mates and latched onto their killer, sinking teeth and claws into its sides.
The other Apex snarled and began spinning and bucking the Alpha on its back, knocking an Escusson to the ground with its bladed tail.
Two bolts of lightning struck the two titans. The Hypo was knocked off with a strike from the clouded skies above, the Apex with a bolt that came from the mouth of its Coastal rival.
The massive aquatic draconian stood on its back legs and roared a challenge at them. The sound ripped through the air like a cutting wind, and rattled with a distinct vocal sound.
The Alpha Male retreated and focused back on the remaining mechs battling its kin, leaving the two larger predators to stare each other down as the rains turned into a flooding downpour, and the Noah soared above them in a bright, burning trail of engine exhaust.
The Apex of the North glared at the Apex of the Coast. If any onlookers survived on the ground, they would have the suspicion that this clash of gods had happened before.
As the Noah neared breaching the veil of clouds that hid the path to the atmosphere, the two would roar their own challenges and charge. The North Apexes crested head lowered in a shielded charge, while the Coastal rival screeched with lightning sparking at its mouth and striking its body from the sky harmlessly.

Kairo would feel his entire cabin quake to the turbulent maelstrom outside along with the roars of the Apexes. then suddenly stop as they reached the upper atmosphere.
They made it.
