• Essentially the World was created by many nature gods or Kami. The Kami Elect the sun Goddess as their celestial Queen, on her rivals tries to usurp her and is chased out of the heavens where he takes refuge in the underworld, which is both his sanctuary and prison. The Sun goddess creates mankind to aid the kami on earth, unlike the Immortal kami, humans are made to die. This leads people to some humans to fall under the influence of the Underworld, as a result a race of demons known as yokai are born.
  
  Getting into the history of the setting, there were once many kingdoms which coalesced into two major Empire's, Kitahara (based in the North), Hanatani (based in the South). Kitahara culturally mirrors shogunate Japan, While Hanatani is more chinese influenced. Eventually Kitahara undergoes a leadership change, and a new Empire is Established, called Shoukoku, shortly after Kitahara and hanatani become one under the Shoukoku Empire.
  
  From here the New empire goes on for many generations, but as time goes on the Emperors grow weak and become the puppets of a noble clan known as the shirabuki. The achieve this through marriage, and regencies. Now in the current time the Shirabuki are more powerful than ever, however a shift is starting to occur as power is slowly moving away from the court nobility to the samurai. The foremost of the Samurai families is the Hayabusa, they were once close allies with the Shirabuki but that friendship has cooled in response to the Shirabuki's lack of empathy for problems in the provinces. As such their is even talk of revolt or usurpation amongst the Hayabusa.
  
  On another hand there is a wealthy mercantile oriented noble family, the Kagamine Clan who curry for Shirabuki favour, hoping to use their riches to move up the social ladder. Lastly there is the Amamoto (imperial family), finally after being under the thumb of the shirabuki for generations, a new emperor not born of a Shirabuki mother sits the throne. Nevertheless he must struggle to take back royal authority.
  
  The Start point for the Rp in mind, is the Emperor's marriage to a Shirabuki woman, forced by his " "Kampaku", (a sort of chief advisor for the emperor, but was the title of both first secretary and regent who assists an adult emperor). All The clans are gathering for this event. But at the same time the malevolent race of youkai have began to stir in the shadows
