Humans are truly extraordinary creatures. Over millions of years, we have been able to adapt and learn to not only survive, but to live. Throughout the years, we have been able to continually learn more about ourselves and the world around us. Compared to all of our discoveries since the beginning of time, nothing can even come close to that of the Counduit Gene.
The first documented discovery of the Conduit Gene was of a young man by the name of Cole McGrath in Empire City. This was discovered after the infamous Empire Incident in which a powerful bomb was set off in the city, devistating the surrounding area. The incident is most believed to be a terrorist attack and even a government weapon test. There has been no word from the government since then, but many investigations have been held, but to no avail. Military personel were unable to detain and question him, but reports of McGrath being able to survive being shot at multiple times and manipulating electricity, among other things.
Within a month of the Incident, Cole McGrath was unable to be located within Empire City. At that time, reports of an strange and unidentifiable organism moving south along the eastern coast of the country had been made. The areas it had been said to have passed were nearly completely destroyed, leaving few survivors in its wake. Eventually the creature, which had been named "The Beast" by the public, had dissapeared once it reached a backwater town called New Marais. Some time after "The Beast" dissapeared, it appeared once again where it had vanished. At that point, it was revealed that "The Beast" was after McGrath who had retreated to New Marais after it had appeared in Empire City. In the end, McGrath was able to defeat the creature, but at a cost. At "The Beast's" defeat, a mysterious phenomenon occured, causing all bodily functions of seemingly all Conduits worldwide to cease. With this, Earth lost approximatly a fourth of its population, including Cole himself.
By the year 2018, 7 years after Marais incident, the world had finally been able to recover from the worldwide deaths caused by "The Beast's" defeat. The US, especially, was able to repair a majority of the damages caused by "The Beast's" rampage. As amazing as it was that the damage done had nearly been repaired, something much more facinating began to occur about a year after the Marais incident. Although they had long thought to have gone extinct during the incident, reports of conduits began to pop up almost every day. Government officials, knowing the damage that counduits could and have done, organized to decide upon a solution to the conduit problem.
After countless hours of debating between national leaders, a conclusion was finally reached. It was decided that a specialized task force would be created to moniter the public, investigate suspected conduits, and detain conduits before they can cause any further damage. This task force became known as the Department of Unified Protection, or DUP, grew as the government poured thousands of dollars into keeping the organization alive. Along with the DUP's conduit leader, Brooke Augustine, the "bio-terrorist" threat shrinks day by day.
By now, the DUP has almost completely erased the "bio-terrorist" threat to the country. The DUP was so succesful at detaining the Conduits that the US military has begun taking over the duties of the organization. Conduits have been being transfered to military bases and laboratories across the country to study and even weaponize the conduit population. Currently, due to an accident in transporting a group of conduits to a military base, the city of Seattle has been closed off and the DUP has relocated its base of opperations to te city.
You are a current resident of Seattle. The only difference between you and almost every other citizen: you are part of this fight whethe you know it or not.. You might be a member of the DUP, an average citizen, a conduit on the run, maybe even an unactivated conduit. Either way, you play a big part in this. Whether you fight to stop the conduits, or fight to free them.
Smoke
Smoke Conduits may develop the ability to control smoke, ash, coal, and/or fire elements. Smoke Conduits can expel and concentrate these materials, or even priefly assume the properties of smoke itself. This form of Conduitism can draw potentially reversing greenhouse effects and damage to the ozone.
Video
Video Conduits posess the most unique arsenal. This specific type of Conduitism allows the subject to absorb and utalize digital projections to make creations in their own image. These creations can range from weapons, objects, and sometimes even synthetic beings that obeys the subjects every whim.
Neon
Neon Conduits have been observed to absorb and manipulate the gas described by the name. Once absorbed, the gas can be charged and fired off in the form of a lazer. Neon Conduits also have the ability to take on the form of neon to travel set distances with extreme speed.
Ice
Ice Conduits are known to have the ability to manipulate the temperature and moisture in the air to create ice, seemingly out of thin air as well as being able to endure extreme cold. Other Ice Conduits abilities include producing highly reactive mist and, in extremely rare cases, being able to freeze the fluids inside of an organism's body.
Electric
Conduits wit electrical powers may develop the ability to draw electric energy formt their surroundings, control, manipulate, and focus that energy. The energy storage and amplification abilities have enormous potential for clean energy research.
Concrete
Concrete Conduitism allows subjects to absorb, project, and manipulate concrete at will. Some Concrete Conduits can also send tremors through hardened concrete. This ability is ideal fo urban renewal and retrofitting foundations damaged by seismic activity.
Wire
This ability allows subjects to effortlessly stretch, knot, and tie cables and/or cords reaching nearly a mile in length. It may even grant the ability to create additional wire-based appendages. There are several recorded incidents of Wire Conduits reinforcing damaged bridges, or binding escaped crimilans and zoo animals.
Glass
Glass Conduits have been have been known to be able to manipulate glass and glass like substances, making them malleable. This type of conduit can also strengthen glass to give it properties not unlike a bulletproof vest. There are also documented incidents where Glass Conduits have been able to alter glass into it's liquid state and
Street
Street Conduits can absorb and manipulate tar, pitch, and asphalt at will. These conduits can effortlessly coat themselves or other objects with these materials, and return settles roads to their liquid state. This ability is invaluable for third world development and repairing damaged roads.
Paper
Paper Conduits are able to assume the properties of paper to glide, and some Paper Conduits are even capable of creating animated origami constructions. This form on Conduitism is ideal for cordoning off hazardous areas as they can fold paper to contain several metric tons of force, creating cheap but extremely durable partitions.
Pressurized Water
Pressurized Water Conduits are capable of drawing strength from hydrants, pipes, and hose before ejecting them with great force. Pressurized Water Conduits can eject water with sufficient force to pierce concrete or quell riots with non-lethal force. These Conduits may also be capable of organically filtering water.
Masonary
Masonary Conduits can absorb and manipulate bricks and mortar. They can quickly erect barriers or small brick structures fom debris, and sculpt existing brick stuctures into impressive shapes. This ability is useful for developing cheap, durable housing in underdeveloped areas.
Carpentry
Carpentry Conduits can manipulate lumber products such as wooden furniture or architecture. These Conduits can force existing wood into impossible shapes by making it regrow according to their whims. They can also force wood to take root in any type of ground, regardless of nutrients or water content. These conduits are ideal candidates for disaster response teams.
Napalm
Napalm Conduits possess the ability to absorb, manipulate, and produce highly reactive napalm. The reactivity of the napalm can be controlled by the subject. Napalm Conduits have also demonstrated the ability to survive amounts of toxins that would prove fatal to humans without the conduit gene.
Ink
Ink conduits have the ability to manipulate any kind of substance that contains ink. Whether it be paint or even printing from magazines. These conduits have also been seen to possess abilities similar to paper conduits with objects such as newspapers. Although there have been multiple reports of ink conduit graffiti and vandalism, they are also know to be helpful with public works projects and various kinds of factory work.
Decay
Decay Conduits are known to possess the ability to oxidize, break down, and destroy mutable compounds using absorbed destructively charged materials to work through, often found in urban environments, such as: rust, degraded polymer, or even mold. Perhaps one of the most versatile and, as a result, dangerous abilities a Conduit can possess if belonging to the right hands. These conduits are ideal for demolitions crews, as they can safely dismantle a variety of urban structures.
Sand
Conduits with the ability to bend and control sand to their whim are often observed to absorb millions of small grains of sand from glass and use that as their power source. Though able to also use either a synthetic form of sand, or the naturally occurring substance, they're mostly seen leeching off of glass rather than sand itself. Once absorbed, the conduit can manipulate each and every single grain of sand to either create something similar to a small and secluded sandstorm, or to even harden and cement these grains together to create objects with a texture similar to sandstone. Due to this, these powers, in the wrong hands, might be dangerous on a large scale. Because of their ability to control and harden sand, they're ideal for most construction projects.
Fabric
