So it has come to my attention that a bit of lore will be needed in my Heliopolis RP if things are going to progress the plot. I'll be adding to it as more things become relevant.

Kingdoms/Empires/Free Cities and Geography

The city-republic of Heliopolis rests on the coast of the largest continent on the planet Mun. The continent is also home to several other sovereign states. Including two large nations that border the city. The Holy Kingdom of Northgard, which due to a large peasant rebellion 15 years prior is now in a state of reform, now under the title of The Grand Republic of Uppland. As well as the Imperial Theocratic States, a high papacy state that has held fervent religious power over the people of the continent for nearly 500 years. There are a scattering of other nations and free-cities across the continent, but none hold the same power levels as these three. Uppland, for its population, numbering at nearly 10.6 billion people across its vast land. The Imperial Theocratic States, for the religious power, and Heliopolis, though only a city, it holds the continents largest number of schools of magic, the Maester Academies, as they are called by the populace.

Though tensions have risen in the past couple of decades, especially between Imperial Theocracy and Uppland, due to the slaughter of the royal family of Northgard, including the young crown princess Claire-Rouge Northgard, who was only 7 years old, at the time of the Peasant rebellion that leads to the founding of the Uppland Republic. Rumors have begun spreading, however, that some of the royal family might have survived the purge.

The City-Republic of Heliopolis

The City-Republic of Heliopolis, simply known as Heliopolis by the general public, is a country completely devoted to the advancements of Science and Magic. Thus, the founding of the Magic council of Maesters, which acts as both the governing body of the City of Heliopolis, and as the headmasters of the 13 magic schools found within the city. While on the surface, the city looks peaceful, much like the cold war between the Imperial Theocratic States, and The Grand Republic of Uppland, tensions are brewing within the city due to a rogue organization known simply as "Pandemonium." Dubbed a Terrorist organization, they have caused chaos and disorder within the city for the past five years, with no clear goal or end game in sight. The 13 Maesters have met several times in recent times, to discuss how to handle this growing threat.

The Thirteen Maesters.

The thirteen current grand maesters are as follows. Each one, housing a power that exceeds even SSS-Rank magic. (Word of note, this list is going to be mostly open, save for the Maesters that are involved in the plot. If you would like to create a Maester character, please PM me first.)

1. The Gran Maester, head of the Thirteen Maesters, and de-facto chairman of the Heliopolis City-Republic; Name Unknown, never seen outside his office save for when at a meeting or public apperance. Appears to be a cloaked man whose face is hidden, appears to be in the early 90s based on wrinklage of his hands.
2. The Maester of Frost; ???
3. The Maester of Flames; ???
4. The Maester of Shadows; ???
5. The Mad One; ???
6. The Maester of Water; ???
7. The Maester of Wind; ???
8. The Laughing Maester; ???
9. The Maester of Earth; ???
10. The Maester of Metals; ???
11. The Maester of Light; ???
12. The Maester of People; ???
13. The Maester of Forgotten Things; ???

While many people rank the Thirteen, each one is simply equivalent in power, save for the Gran Maester, who in his enigmacy, seems to be hiding a dangerous secret.

The Religions...
There are three major religions on the continent that Heliopolis resides on. The first, and largest due to the proselytizing of the Imperial Theocratic States, is a religion officially known as Faith of the 10 Heroes. This 'religion' is that of an idol worship religion, much like Totemism in reality. The religion preaches that 10 'heroes' who according to sacred texts united the continent under a solitary kingdom known as "The Empire" had transcended into god-hood. These heroes were pledged to be worshipped as such, giving way to a prosperous time that would eventually lead to the collapse of The Empire. The Imperial Theocratic States believe, is that in the time of Ragnarok when the heavens open up and demons flow freely on the surface, the ten heroes will return to the mortal planes, and unite the continent once more.

It was also believed that the Northgard royal family, were descendants of one of the 10 heroes, up until the Uppland Peasant Rebellion executed all of the members, officially at least. As if the Imperial Theocratic States has any say, the rumors that a member survived, are true.

The Second religion, which is nearly as large as the Faith of the Ten, is that of the Forgotten Peoples. A religion based on spiritual belief and stresses a peaceful way of life. This religion, founded in a mountainous region to the west of the Republic of Uppland, focusses solely on the abandonment of materialistic wants, stressing the expansion of a spiritual self. Many people convert to it across the continent, due to the belief that reincarnation is only granted to those, who have reached spiritual enlightenment. It is extremely popular with lower class citizens because of this.

The third, and final religion is one that has been declared the official Religion of Uppland. Though no name has been discovered, this religion focusses on the worship of demonic beings that the Republic calls "The Apostles" this religion, preaches that pain and suffering will be granted to the enemies of 'freedom and equality,' something that Uppland believes mean the forced annexation of their enemies. Something that puts them in direct opposition to their neighbors. Including The Imperial Theocratic States.

Magic Classifications.
With magic being a commonplace within the world, many of the nations have gathered and set upon certain classifications on magic. The Licencing system for both magic styles and spells is one of the oldest ways that classify magic and is the most common way magic users do so due to the Thirteen schools within Heliopolis using them. Officially, the license goes from D-rank, the lowest and what most citizens have if they do not go to a dedicated school of magic. All the way to SSS-Rank. S-Rank and above magic, which all need an SSS-class License, obviously, is the only classifications of magic that are deemed "Too powerful for the general public." and as such, require a special permit to receive from one of the Thirteen Maesters of Magic in order to use or learn. There are rumors, however, behind closed doors, that there is a secret classification that goes beyond even SSS-Class. These spells, as due to their immense power, are dubbed "Heaven Ranked" spells. And go from 1st Heaven, all the way to 12th Heaven, or so the rumors go.

A part of this rumor is that the lost art of the Northgard family line, the ability to create sentient puppets using magic, was one of these Heaven-Class spells.
