History —
Dina is the, or at least was the daughter of South African immigrants. Her parents had come to America for a better life, and they were able to settle pretty easily. The two of them were hard workers and managed to start a little laundromat service after some time. Things seemed perfect for them and only got better when her mother fell pregnant. The pregnancy was a joyous occasion and celebrated. Things were great until she turned five years old. Dina began to change before her parents horrified eyes. Her appearance became more snake like, she her teeth razor sharp and her eyes became pitch black and slitted. Her parents didn’t hesitate in locking her away and eventually abandoning her in some alley.

Dina wondered for a long time, stealing, fighting, and just trying to survive. She began accustomed to the cruel side of humanity fairly quickly and she grew up long before she was supposed to. It wasn’t until Dina met another like her, though he was a feline type, that things looked up. He looked human enough and was able to blend into society well, even securing a job as a mercenary. He took Dina in and helped her embrace and harness her wild side, teaching her everything that he knew.

Malik is the literal definition of tall, dark, and handsome. With his dark, mahogany skin and his sharp cheekbones Malik is well aware that he’s attractive and carries himself with swagger and confidence. Hades: Meet me at hq in ten.

Power
Sense Manipulation — Malik has control over the senses of oneself and others, including sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste, balance, pain, etc, allowing him to freely alter and manipulate them. He can enhance, reduce or remove them temporarily or permanently, protect himself or others from being overwhelmed, cause targets to sense things that aren't there or prevent them from sensing things that are, and cause/remove sensory ailments. His power works in two ways, through touch and through an pitch black fog that he generates from his body.

Strengths —
His power is versatile, as it’s both short distanced and long ranged. Malik has been using his ability for a long time so he has a firm grasp on it. His power is great for both defense and invasion.

Weaknesses —
With the touch aspect of his powers whatever senses he targeted goes back to normal after he lets go of the person. If Malik decides to mess with his own sense he can be overwhelmed, for example increasing his hearing and being attacked with a loud noise.
Persona/Bio
Personality —
Malik was raised by both the streets and his mother. It shows in how he carries himself and acts around others. Malik is a quiet young man but is no way timid. He prefers actions over words. He usually speaks when he has something important to say or has been spoken to, even then it's not guaranteed that he'll talk to the person talking to him. Malik carries himself in an almost casual way. But if someone looks close enough they'll notice that his body is not relaxed at all, like someone waiting for a surprise attack. It's a side effect on growing up in a violent neighborhood.

He is seen as intimidating by others. The towers over most people and his eyes are coal black, they seem to stare right through you. His face seems to always have a scowl on it, but it's just his regular face in all actuality. Malik has a temper on him though he can reel it in fairly well. Malik is adept at hiding how he feels from others. Surprisingly Malik is an emotional person, he feels deeply.

Malik is observant, something that he learned from the streets. He pays attention to detail. It has saved his life many times in the past. He still addresses his elders using ma'am or sir, it'll be followed by a string of curse words sometimes. His manners are also intact he to the surprise of others.

Once someone has gained Malik's loyalty he's there for them until the end. He is protective of those that he holds close and is willing to do almost anything for them. Because of his life it's difficult for him to open up. He’s a very intelligent person but most people tend to think otherwise, he doesn’t mind however. Malik prefers to let others think what they want. He’s never been concerned what people think about him.

Malik is someone with little to no regard for rules. He likes to do as he pleases whenever he wants. He’s never been someone who was good at following rules. Malik isn’t afraid to push back or ask questions.

History —
Malik grew up in a crime infested neighborhood. Gang violence was a major problem along with robbery and shoot outs. He lived with his mother and grandmother, his father was a deadbeat who didn't want the responsibility that came with creating a child. His mother worked three jobs in order to provide for him and his grandmother worked one. It was hard for them. They were poor and could barely afford food on the table. It was easy for Malik to fall into the street life. As a child he believed that it was cool. He'd see young men with nice things and without a care in the world. Unbeknownst to him at the time in order to achieve this they would have had to dirty their hands. The fact that he had powers also made things hard for him. People looked down on him for it, they often feared him. The change affected his family greatly. While his mother remained unharmed his grandmother passed due to it.

The gang life had ensnared a large amount of young men, including Malik. They treated each other like family. Something that the young man loved. It wasn't long until he found out about the dangers of gang life. Malik figured out that in order to have nice things he would have to start selling drugs. The temptation became too great. With the money he would be able to take care of him family. So he joined the Hell Hounds. Joining the ranks until he managed to become the second in command and enforcer. Malik was taken under the wing of the leader, and under him he thrived.

His reputation grew for better and worse. He went back to his community, giving back and helping those who struggled. But at the same time people grew to fear and respect him because of his ruthlessness. Within the Trench Town Projects, where he grew up, Malik if favored by the community, as he as given back to it in many ways. Many of then residents there hold him in high regard.

Feline Physiology —
Alonso is a feline type mutant and so he has the same abilities as a variety of big cats. Other than his deadly claws and fangs, Alonso possesses superhuman senses, strength, speed, and agility. He is able to see clearly in the dark as in the day. His body is able to withstand extreme conditions. As a feline type Alonso has razor sharp canines and claws that are able to cut through flesh and other items quite easily. His pupils can change from a human’s to a cat‘s at will.

Strengths —
Alonso is an excellent hunter and tracker. once someone is placed on his list, there is little that can be done to avoid him. this particular ability of his increases if he has their scent. Alonso is a master at his craft. He has a talent for both hand to hand combat and weapons usage. Alonso is able to fall off the grid and stay hidden if he doesn’t wish to be found.

Weaknesses —
Alonso can only take so much damage despite his ability. unlike his daughter he does not have a healing factor and even though he can take a lot more damage than the average person he can still be seriously injured or killed. While harder in his case alonso can revert back to a more animalistic state of mind, where he is more reckless and blood thirsty.
Persona/Bio
Personality —
Alonso is a charming individual to say the least. He’s like an old school gentle, pulling out chairs for ladies, using his manners, and all those chivalrous things. He is all grace and mystery, drawing those in with his sauve words and charming smile until the predator in him decides to strike. Alonso is a highly intelligent man. He prides himself on being well read and knowledgeable, it is power as the saying goes. He’s usually one step ahead of the game and rather unpredictable as well. One might think that they have him all figured out, only to find out that there are hundreds of more layers or walls to go through.

Alonso is a shameless flirt, he enjoys having beautiful people throw themselves at them and can be quite the romantic. He of course uses it as a form of manipulation more often than not. Despite his mannerism and well put together appearance Alonso is still a wild being. Behind that polite and educated persona is a beast just below the service. He is ruthless when he wants to be and downright savage at times, with little regard for those around him. Having a child under his care didn’t change him much, he would go as far as to say that he rubbed off on her even.

Alonso does have a caring side buried deep down. It is only shown to the very few who he holds dear but it is there nonetheless. He’s willing to do whatever it takes for his loved ones, family has always been important to him.

Alignment —

History —
Alonso has been involved in the crime world since he was only a boy. His father a notorious mafia leader and his mother a mafia princess. As the oldest son of six it was his duty to take over once he became of age, however he didn’t want to. Alonso has no desire to take his father’s place. He believed that it would be restrictive, boring even. But as someone who respected his father immensely he went through the proper training to eventually take the throne. Things changed however when his father was killed during a war between a rival family. At the age of nineteen Alonso was forced to take over and he did so flawlessly. But as he predicted the life was bland, he couldn’t do as he pleased, he would eventually have to marry some mafia princess and have babies. That, however, was not the life he wanted. So he began to conspire with his siblings and mother. Alonso would allow his brother to take over and he would go on to live his life.

The plan was to go after those who had killed his father and fake his death after dealing with them. And so the plan was struck and he died. Alonso found that he liked hunting people down, and so he became something like a personal assassin for his family before eventually branching out and becoming a professional mercenary. Life was great for him during this time. He could travel and not have to worry about the responsibilities of being a Don.

Alonso continued his career path and built a fearsome reputation for himself in Italy and surrounding areas. That was until missions brought him to other countries where he made a name for himself there to. When the change happened Alonso was thirty. It was hard on him, nearly killing him like many others in the process but he prevailed and thankfully he hadn’t changed that much. He was devastated when he learned that his mother and youngest brother had died due to it.

He continued on with his life however. Alonso worked for no one but himself, using his power to earn money. Life began boring for him after a while and dare he say, he began feel lonely.

It was during a mission that he came across his protege and daughter. He’d just finished disposing of one of his victims when he’d caught the scent of her lurking in the alleyway, waiting and watching. Leo had went about his business, not surprised when he saw her getting ready to pick pocket the body. From then on he seemed to see her more and more, pickpocketing and stealing to survive. It wasn’t until he happened to walk through her alley that he decided to take her in, even after she tried to steal from him.

And so he taught her about her gift. Instead of hating what she was he taught her to embrace it and use it to her advantage. Given her appearance homeschooling was the only option, the two traveled together, expanding their knowledge and becoming a family. Once he deemed her ready he introduced her to his world, teaching her everything that he knew. Finally the day came where he had to leave and for how long, they didn’t know. But they promised that they would see each other once again.

Juliette is a picture of grace and delicate beauty, due to her petite figure and soft facial features. Her eyes are a deep, earthy brown similar to the color of rich soil. They’re a soft almond shape and framed by long, fluttering lashes gives her a certain look of innocence and naivety. Her hair is a mess of wild, baby soft curls but she often wears it straight or under wigs. Her natural hair is honey blonde. Her skin is blemish free because of her strict skincare routine. It’s warm brown in color and has a natural glow to it. Overall Juliette is not that intimidating in stature, as she’s only 5’4.

Power
Wire Manipulation — Woven into Juliette’s body are thin metal wires. They’re thin yet deadly sharp and able to cut through things that they shouldn’t be able to. Juliette can produce these wires from different parents of her body, though she typically uses her hands.

Strengths —
Juliette’s power is a great offensive and defensive ability depending on how she uses her wire. They’re strong and sharp enjoy to cut through most things like rock or metal and also able to throw or bind objects. Her favorite method would have to be using them to control people, much like a puppet master. She can also use the wires stitch herself up or use them as a shield. The wires are thin, thus hard to see with the untrained eye and aren’t able to be cut.

Weaknesses —
Juliette can only control so many people at a time before it becomes a disadvantage. If she’s out in the open Juliette needs to focus on her puppets. She’s quite vulnerable once someone gets pasts her wires. There’s also the matter of distance, her wires can only reach about six and a half meters before they’re pulled tight.
Persona/Bio
Personality —
Juliette is the picture of innocence with her pretty brown eyes and soft facial features. Upon first coming across Juliette people make the assumption that she’s a soft-spoken girl, someone who needs to be treated carefully and looked after. Juliette lets them think what they want. She wields her appearance like a weapon, letting people underestimate her until she’s close enough to strike where it hurts. She’s a skilled actress who plays her role well. Juliette knows how to capture attention, with a bat of her lashes and a simple smile she had the ability to ensnare most. She’s all politeness and southern charm. The importance of manners and looking presentable has been drilled into her head by her mother. She knows how to play the perfect hostess when the time calls for it.

When it comes to hard work Juliette isn’t afraid to do what she has too, especially if the reward is something grand or beneficial to her. She doesn't mind getting her hands dirty. Never the one to do things in a rush, Juliette will take her time and act only once she has deliberately made her decision, so that the choices that she makes are the right ones. Juliette is a soft woman who would rather spend her days reading or painting if she could. She’s prone to daydreaming, oftentimes she’s off in her own little world.

Because of the life she’s had Juliette is guarded and closed off from others, only letting those dear to her get close. But even then she tends to hide within herself and masks her emotions. Juliette is the type to shut down when she’s feeling overwhelmed, or lash out in order to push people away. She definitely has a lot of negative emotions that she has pushed down over the years. People are only useful when they can do something for her and she struggles with making deep connections.

Once she does open up Juliette seems to be a completely different person. She’s generous and warm showering those that she loves with attention and becoming a mother hen. Giselle is protective of those that she loves and is willing to do anything for them. She’s loyal to a fault and tends to give too many chances.

History —
Juliette was born in the small town of Natchitoches, Louisiana to an upper middle class family of four. As the daughter of a well liked and wealthy pastor and his socialite wife Juliette was also held in a higher regard than most. They were required as everything a proper family should be, two loving and in love parents with their well-behaved children. The four of them were close with one another. Affection was given often and they spent as much as they could together. Juliette enjoyed spending time with her mother. Helping out with the laundry or playing dress up.

Oftentimes Juliette would be scolded for taking her mother’s pearls or playing in her makeup. She made many fond memories, from staying outside until the street light came on to playing in her favorite wildflower field and cloud watching, only giggling wildly as her mother scolded her for the flowers in her hair and the grass stains on her pretty clothes.

When the change happened the small community was hit hard, people lost loved ones and crime rates began to rise. This led to increased police presence and tension between the upper and lower classes. The community regarded those with powers as monstrosities and abominations, people punished by god for whatever sins they’d committed. Thankfully Juliette and her parents seemed unaffected. But that changed years later.

If started out with body aches, Juliette began complaining at them and her sister followed soon after. Regular medicines did little to help and the symptoms began to worsen. Soon she complained about the feeling of something beneath her skin, she felt as if something was slithering inside her, done to her organs and bones. Her skin had inched terribly and her veins looked as if they were pressing against her skin, trying to break free. Soon she was taken to the hospital and it was then their life changed forever.

With Juliette doctors discovered that her body had developed metal wires inside. The wires were woven into her very bones, into her organs and attached to vital parts of her. There was no way to remove them without her dying. Upon further examination the wires were shown to be razor sharp and near invisible. Juliette was placed within the system and sent home. Eventually the pain stopped. News traveled fast in their small town and it wasn’t long before the family fell from the grace.People treated them differently, children who Juliette once played with were told to stay away from her, as if something was wrong with her. People stopped going to her father’s church since he had refused to try and “fix” or disown. Her mother lost many friends as she continued to love her child unconditionally.

Things came to a head one day on the playground. Juliette had been playing when approached by a group of children. Juli has been fine with ignoring them, pretending that they weren’t there and continuing to play by herself. That was until one of them had pushed her. Before she knew she lashed out, cutting one of the children with her wire. Juliette remembers running as adults descended upon them.

After that the treatment got worse and they had to pack their bags and move. Despite their reassurances that it wasn’t her fault Juliette noticed her parents treating her differently. She knew that her parents loved her and that they couldn’t help their fear so she tried not to let it bother her. As years passed Juliette learned to control her power and use it to her advantage.

PERSONALITY + ABILITIES

power: Energy manifestation, in the form of control or expulsion. Within herself, she can soak up energy (kinetic, heat, electric) and use it as a burst of force (an outward explosion of pure, stored energy.) As an added bonus, can convene with the 'dead', or rather tap into the remnant energy left from someone who has passed on. In layman's terms, she can see ghosts. Being able to control energy, she can touch and manipulate the energy output of the ghost, which can grant them some amount of tangibility in the real world. As well, she can expel or dismiss any ghosts, or any particularly stagnant energy signatures.
strengths: Eva's power flourishes in high energy environments, particularly those with a lot of people or a lot of activity going on. She consciously pulls her power from these sources, so an abundance of it is beneficial. Once she's pulled energy, it holds inside until consciously expelled. This gains her a temporary boost to her speed, or makes her hit harder. Each intake has to have an expulsion, otherwise it festers inside or is expelled unconsciously and without the same amount of control. The strength of her power is equivalent to the energy around her, as well as her own energy inside. She's very technically savvy, adept at computer coding and hacking. Occasionally she tinkers and has made a few updates, augments and software for current technology.
weaknesses: Despite having a power based entirely off of energy, she herself has a short tolerance for actual activity. Being around people overwhelms her, putting the strength of her power in an inconsistent state, and she actively seeks to minimize her powers (perhaps aware of the extent it could have). She hates using her abilities, except to commune with her brother (and the occasional wandering spirit that's stuck in a loop). Places that are ripe with energy, locations of extreme trauma or death, and Eva may be too overwhelmed to even attempt her abilities. She's a night person, which is a deficit for her energy-based powers. Eva is easily exhausted by her abilities, with the stronger usages of her power wearing her down almost immediately. The act of absorbing energy can be detrimental to her person, as well, as such an influx is nowhere near healthy for the human body to handle an abundance of. She wouldn't burst, per say, but the blast resulting from her body expelling the dangerous levels would be very strong, and very likely to inflict damage on herself. Controlling energy takes less effort than expelling, where a fraction of her own self is sacrificed in the exchange as well. She knows that one day she might zap her own self of her energy-- permanently. In fear of that, she very rarely uses her dangerous abilities, preferring to tough it out on her own.

----

personality: If there are two sides to every coin, Eva would be the side covered in caked on blood and occasionally used to cut coke with. She's been through the tail-end of many confrontations, keen on keeping her fingers in all pies available. Entirely too nosy and curious for her own good, she revels in the mischief she puts herself in-- or causes. Being in control, and on top of the game, is a regular goal for Eva. She likes to start trouble and be around it, although the energy required puts her out of commission for some time. She'll start the fire, but she won't be around to watch it burn. She'd come around a day later to grin at the smoldering ashes. She has her usual mean streak that is often cut by a wave of vigilantism, usually in the form of responding to any kind of jobs (good or bad). Slinking in the shadows, smoking a cigarette, and letting the world pass her by is something that Eva looks forward to. Though, she's pragmatic enough to take life by the balls and ride it if need be. Enjoy the luxuries, even at the cost of hurting a few people? It won't hit her immediately, and if it does, there's no way in hell she'd let you see her tears. Eva gets frustrated by things easily, either becoming incredibly irritable or bursting into angry tears. If you call her out on it, however, you will get a swift kick to the ass.
alignment: Chaotic Neutral. Unwilling vigilante, but more of an anti-hero who occasionally runs with the bad guys
positive traits: Witty, Flirtatious, Curious, Inventive
negative traits: Manipulative, Flighty, Moody, Greedy
likes: Coffee + a cigarette after waking up, Donuts or other sweet treats, Staying indoors, Computer tech +hardware, Investigations
dislikes: Do-Gooders, Mornings, Being Told she's Wrong, Sunny days, Rejection, Big crowds
fears: Claustrophobic. Also has a long-standing fear of using her powers too far one day and killing herself-- it's not death she's afraid of, but being her own undoing. Although she's content to laze around and be rather sardonic, she is afraid of being a disappointment (she strives for success, and to do so effortlessly, and won't tolerate failing).
ailments: Sleep paralysis, Chronic cough, Mood disorder, Nicotine addiction.

BIOGRAPHY
relationships (family, friends, dating, etc): Adam MacNyght (Brother- Deceased), Andrea MacNyght (Mother- Deceased), Philip MacNyght (Father-Alive)
background: On a fateful, stormy spring night in May of 2064, Andrea MacNyght gave birth to twins. It was an arduous six hour labour, but at the end of it, two crying infants were presented to the world. Philip MacNyght, a geneticist, had personally gone out of his way to get his wife pregnant. They’d been trying for years, Andrea blaming herself for the infertility. Philip pressed for IVF, getting his hands dirty in the process. In no way was he an ethical scientist, or doctor, but he was a man pressed to keep his wife happy. The end result turned out to be a success, validating his unethical methods.

The twins were relatively easy, all things considered. Eva was large and boisterous whereas Adam was sickly and thin from the moment he was born. Colicky, finicky and always crying, Eva could only watch as an infant as her twin dealt with illness after illness. Although healthy, she would have her own connection to her brother’s suffering. It was one of the first instances of the twin connection that would only grow over the years.

Eventually, Adam managed to recover from the worst of it; Eva quickly introduced her brother to the world. Positive as a child, it would be a stark contrast from the bitter woman she would become. For the time being, in their childhood, she was the bright ball of energy that Adam would forever picture her as.

They lived as well as one could, far from poverty and the usual negative upbringings that covered Heartbeat City from the ground up. Andrea MacNyght did her best to shield her children from the darker side of life, but it was hard to escape it. Eva would turn her head, choosing to focus her attention on the better things. She loved her mother dearly, often clutching her hand all hours of the day. Ever since Eva was a child, she was never able to bond with her father. Maybe it was because he was a hateful, corrupt man-- and she knew it-- but she could never relax around him.

Come the Change, no one in the family could have expected that the twins would show any kind of power. Philip, however, didn’t seem surprised. Perhaps he expected that his direct hand in the synthetic conception of the twins resulted in their superpowered vulnerability, but he was more excited than terrified at the prospect. Eva and Adam’s powers were not what they are now, but it was through Philip’s intervention that it progressed to the point that it would become.

Eva, at first, expressed some kind of latent telekinesis. Philip immediately tested and prodded his daughter in the basement of their home, where he had set up a mini lab. Two ‘cages’, as Eva would call them, settled in the corners. She and her brother would spend years in this basement, honing and being experimented on. Their father wanted to find out the root of the affliction, or if it was a mutation.

He was callus and almost sadistic in his experiments. He took no mercy on his children, and would only at the behest of his wife. More a rigorous drill sergeant than a father, Eva would only grow to hate her father more. He was not loving. He wanted results.

Somehow he managed to contribute to the shifting of her abilities, maybe even recognizing that it wasn’t telekinesis she had but a direct connection to the energy in the environment. More than once she damaged the lab significantly, unable to control her abilities. She’d be forced to spend hours in the dark, padded room as part of her training. It was in these moments of quiet, and isolation, that she discovered she could commune with… spirits. At first she wasn’t sure what she had seen, but she remembered overhearing a conversation about a murder in the alley behind their home. This person couldn’t communicate, merely trapped in a loop of their last moments. It gave Eva nightmares for months.

Their father increased the experiments and the tests, hoping to come to some understanding of what caused these powers that began to afflict the small pocket of Heartbeat City. He drilled into Eva’s head that she was a danger to society, and that should she be allowed out, no doubt her powers would cause ten fold the destruction that the others were causing. It was from there that an insecurity to her powers started.

After three years of what felt like prison, it was in the middle of the night when Eva and Adam were eleven that their mother told them they had to leave now. Andrea MacNyght was determined, and perhaps in the most confident position she’d been in her entire marriage. The three fled into the night, Andrea never revealing how she was able to have them all escape with little resistance or intervention from their father. They found a small apartment on the other side of the city, and Andrea tried to wrestle the kids into some amount of normalcy.

The testing had ruined their psyches, with Eva retreating into corners and Adam acting out. Somehow Andrea managed to parent them alone, choosing to try and instill positive habits and reinforcement on controlling their abilities. Eva simply rationalized that she was better off not having her powers, and actively tried to shut herself down. It was there that she first got caught up in darker crowds, trying drugs for the first time when she was sixteen. It numbed her feelings, numbed her use for powers, and made her focus on other parts of her life.

She watched her brother actively embrace his strengths, focusing on the positive that their mother reinforced. Eva could only turn away, no longer wanting to reason that there was any good in the world. All the trauma only caught up with her during puberty, further pushing her from her family.

Eva flirted with danger frequently, running with gangs and less savory characters instead of staying home. She barely made it home most nights, beginning to fall behind in school. Her mother expressed frustration, and disappointment, but it only drove Eva further away.

One morning, coming home after a two day bender on a rollercoaster of drugs and intimacy with a group of friends, she was confronted by her brother. Adam was in tears, his face red and angry.

“Mom’s dead, and you weren’t here. She’s dead, and you could have saved her.”

Suffice to say, it split the twins quite savagely down the middle. As Adam had phrased it, their mother had been at home while Adam was at work. She’d been having severe migraines recently, but thought nothing of it. Eva had promised to be home, as Adam was worried, but she wasn’t. In the absence of both of her children, Andrea MacNyght collapsed in the bathroom and struck her head on the sink. It was a terrible accident, but by the time Adam made it home, she was long gone. A hopeless accident, but Adam was beside himself with guilt. It didn’t speak to Eva’s own guilt, which was circumvented to anger. She stormed out of the house, vowing to keep herself away for as long as it took. She didn’t want to be around if her mother’s ghost was going to stick around, a trapped bundle of energy festering like an open wound. She’d seen a silhouette in the doorway before leaving, and that had scared her enough to not even tell Adam where she was going.

She made her own in Heartbeat City, using her knack for computers and hardware to find maintenance jobs on the side. She was determined to do some good, maybe as an apology to her mother for the negligence that led to her death. Eva remained as sour and lazy as possible, her own brilliant mind carrying her as far as it could. Working with the criminal underground, she worked on tinkering on security systems and hacking. Eva enjoyed the payouts, and it distracted her from the regular demons of her life.

By the time she was in her early twenties, she was rather comfortable. She hadn’t heard from her brother in over five years, and was just fine living in that silence. She kept a radar on their father, ears to the ground and wondering what kind of work he would be pursuing publicly; maybe vowing to kill him or torture him one day for his heartless behaviour as a father.

One day, though, on a night out, she ran into a masked man beating the shit out of a dealer she was meeting to sell a couple of test systems she’d made for ease of transactions. The man tried to fight her as well, but she proved formidable enough to keep herself upright during their fight. At some point, the hood she wore slipped down and exposed herself. The man froze, letting Eva give him a righteous kick to the balls.

As he fell to the ground, she ripped the shitty black mask he wore over his face. To her surprise, and to the tune of all of her guts dropping, she saw her twin brother.

It was an awkward first encounter, but they managed to catch up with little mention of the events that led to their division. Adam mentioned that he was doing hero work, helping clean up Heartbeat City, after falling out of police work. He mentioned that he was going to join the big leagues, although he was choosing a rather unorthodox way. Eva could only smile and nod, far from surprised that her twin would be doing the very best that he could, always the do-gooder and gentile soul. It made her envy his success, and ever the greedy person, she was determined to worm her way into his life again and reap the benefits.

She grabbed his shitty mask, taking it to her workbench, and going to work. She said she’d suit him up with the… ‘off-market’ devices and augments she had, refusing to tell him where she got them (and eventually outwardly lying that she bought them, legally of course). Eva said she’d be his eyes and ears, gave him an ear-piece, and apologized for being a shit for so long.

It was the foundation of a new, blossoming relationship between the two. She hated to admit it, but she was thankful to have Adam back. As much as she was annoyed by his ticks and personality, it was endearing to have her twin back.

Just as things were going good, it all went bad. Adam had said he was on some case, a real rabbit hole of investigation. He was silent for three days, no communication whatsoever with Eva. Normally she wouldn’t worry, but that twin thing led her to worrying immensely about it. Her sleep paralysis only got worse in those three days, and Eva was plagued with sleepless nights; full of worry.

Her worst fears were confirmed when they found Adam’s body, beaten and broken in a dumpster. Eva broke down, nearly destroying her apartment in the process, but maintaining some composure to try and reason with her new reality. She was alone, more so than ever, and the silence was deafening.

A week after Adam’s death, she saw him standing in her apartment, facing the window. Unsure if she was imagining it, or if he was really there, she was even more broken to learn that it was his spirit. At first she was convinced that he was a mindless loop ghost, but he proved to be aware of everything, and determined to stick around. Mourning him once had been enough, and Eva wasn’t sure how to feel about having to recognize that he was still… here.

Adam had plans, evidently. He convinced Eva to follow his work, or to even start her own investigations. Talking her up enough, appealing to the fact that she was a better person than she thought, eventually she caved in. She owed him enough, once again her negligence leading to death. The two have been working together, in a way, since his death. Eva prefers to keep floating above the criminal line, but Adam has done his best to bring out the best in her.

They still have a long way to go if they plan on being at least semi constructive.

extra info: well known as an information broker of sorts, but also someone who makes illegal augments or mods. She also dabbles in viruses, hacking and other types of pay for service. Almost like a cyberweb hitman, of sorts.

PERSONALITY + ABILITIES

power: Sonic Cry. Can forcibly emit a scream or a shout of high amplitude that can be used to stun or physically attack. Hasn't been able to split anyone in two, but has knocked down a few brick walls at the peak of his power. Usually he uses it to stun or knock an opponent down. Those in the vicinity should be wary, as a distraction could cause the sound to fly elsewhere.
strengths: Physically strong, at almost peak human condition, and was an expert fighter. His sonic cry works best in open areas, as doing it in a closed environment could result in a lot of feedback/collateral damage. Can work at a shorter distance, with controlled breathing, or at a further distance with an unrestrained wail.
weaknesses: Very draining on the vocal chords and person, though Adam had had a lot of training and minimized most of the physical drawbacks. Still, it may cause a chain reaction of lesser and lesser powered screams, the more he uses it. There is the element of feedback and collateral damage as well, if the area is not open enough for the sound to exit after use. Being dead, as well, his powers are only able to be used in the physical world if his sister has manifested him into it. Otherwise, he can shout and scream all he wants, and it would only hurt her.

----

personality: If there are two sides to every coin, Adam would be the shiny side you show to a friend when you're about to flip the coin and bet on dinner. In every way, he tries to embody being a hero. He pushes himself to intervene, to stand up for the little people, and to do good. In every way, he is that person. He seeks out danger if only to save others from it. Even if his own body begins to fail, and he's on the brink of collapse, he will use every last bit of energy to save someone else. In that way though, he is definitely full of energy. Passionate and invigorated by day to day life, he maintains that the human condition is the most fascinating. Although he despises those who do bad, and looks down on those who are morally bankrupt or grey, he is in all ways fascinated by the intricacies of it. He tries to push his own agenda to others, to do good and for no reason but the good of others, and will be rather blunt about it. He means good, but can come off as pushy and irritable. He's a lovable guy at his heart, and being dead has robbed him of most desires to touch and hold others.
alignment: Superhero if he could, but a hero vigilante before he died.
positive traits: Courageous, Charitable, Passionate, Outgoing
negative traits: Impulsive, Righteous, Quick-tempered, Nosy
likes: Justice, Training, Sweet treats (donuts and cakes), Exercise, Light rain
dislikes: Watching his sister do bad things, Inability to act, Opening up, Arguing
fears: His main fear is, of course, finally passing on. He's got so much left to do, or so he feels, and the prospect of crossing over one day and disintegrating into nothing is haunting to him. As well, he worries that his sister will kill herself, kill someone, or get killed. He'd do anything to help her, but being dead he's virtually powerless-- already fulfilling his biggest fear of letting something terrible happen and not being able to step in.
ailments: Nearsightedness/partially blind in left eye, Dead

BIOGRAPHY
relationships (family, friends, dating, etc): Eva MacNyght (Sister- Alive), Andrea MacNyght (Mother- Deceased), Philip MacNyght (Father-Alive)
background: Adam had a rough infanthood, always being sick and coddled by his mother. He was a fussy baby, but determined to be independent. His own lack of a sustainable immune system at an early age crippled him, but he was an avid reader when he was stuck at home or in a hospital bed. He looked up to his twin sister, older by three minutes, and gave every ounce of effort to get better and be able to play with her.

Getting to that point, finally, and far from the illnesses of his youth, he clung to Eva like a buoy in open water. She was savvy, fun and she included him in everything. He was a quiet boy, noticing everything and speaking about nothing. He noticed his cold their father was, but rather than inquire, Adam preferred to latch onto their mother. Andrea was a beacon of warmth, kind and considerate, and was always there to kiss his scraped knees.

Following the Change, and a manifestation of powers never thought of, the twins were ushered into the basement for testing. Adam wasn’t sure what to think of it all, but ever the obedient child, he followed along. What followed was a harrowing experience for him and his sister, though Adam tried to remain strong. He noticed Eva closing off, withdrawing into the darkness to cope with the abuse and experimentation. They were trained, almost like soldiers, and trained and tested on their powers. Adam always showed his sound attack, though when he was younger it was a lot less contained and caused a lot of damage.

He tried to remain productive in their testing, as painful as it was, and as harrowing as the abuse was when they didn’t perform to their capabilities. Maybe it was a way of coping, but Adam worked himself to the bone in training, reasoning that it was for the greater good. Clearly the goals of their father were purely selfish, but Adam would go with whatever seemed reasonable for the actions taken.

On the fateful night when their mother escaped with them, Adam could only hope for the future to be better. Going from moderately well off to scraping for the rent every month, he was quick to take up as much of the load as possible. Young, but formidable, he got a job as soon as he could. In between school and work, he had little time for a social life. Working hard consumed him, but it was a great way to numb the unsettling feelings inside of him. All things considered, things were looking up for Adam.

He remained close to his mother, watching Eva slip away, but feeling powerless to help her. Any intervention, conversation, or encounter was met with resistance. He was a bit terrified to try and fight her, unsure how their powers would react in the presence of the other, so he just tried to keep any eye on her. Paid friends to follow her around, kept a personal tab on Eva. He did what he could, but he knew she would be past saving. It tore him up, so he continued to push himself in other regards. Mentally, physically, trying to put as much positivity in his life as possible.

Adam was determined to, by the time he was a teenager, join the police force. Idealistic, he saw that the police was the only way that he could maintain normalcy, and still be a good guy. School was his priority at that point, and in between finishing some shifts at his job and transitioning to living off of the savings he had acquired for his twin and his mom, was when the incident occurred. He didn’t know why he trusted Eva to be around, when he knew better, but it proved to bite him in the ass anyway.

Their mother, still on the bathroom floor in a pool of her own blood. She was already gone, and Adam was beyond devastated. He lashed out on Eva when she came back, yelling at her until his throat was hoarse, and swearing he might have accidentally used some of his power to back her into a corner. But he wasn’t sure, because as soon as he took a moment to breathe, Eva had run out the fire escape.

Left with everything, Adam shouldered the weight of keeping the apartment. Strangely, he didn’t want to sell it, even if his mother had died in the bathroom. It hardened him, the reminder, and it made him realize the maturity he had adopted. Whether it was from the entirety of the rough life he’d had so far, or just the recent parts, he was forced to grow up immediately.

Adam was thankful when he finally enrolled in the police academy, however. A change of pace, and a new mindset to be in.

Quickly, though, Adam realized that the life wasn’t for him. He soldiered on, still as obedient as he was in his youth, and graduated. It wasn’t soon after that he quit the force completely, consumed with a flurry of emotions. Bureaucracy wasn’t his strong suit, and neither was witnessing brutality. More than once he found himself standing up to fellow officers, seconds away from using his powers, but keeping them hidden.

He quit, new rage in his heart-- but rage to pursue a stronger form of justice. He didn’t want to go through paperwork, needless violence and remaining entirely lawful in order to get the job done. Too long he’d seen what inactivity did, and how powerless he felt when he couldn’t move fast enough.

So he became his own defender, a local vigilante. He started small, looking up to the big league heroes and dreaming of joining them one day. His methods weren’t kosher, but he remained faithful to his principles. Eventually he grew a bit of infamy among the neighborhood, a crime watcher. He was nimble, strong, and trained during the day when he wasn’t patrolling the streets. Nightingale, he called himself, so they called him Nightingale too.

In no way was Adam a hero right away, but he stood up for what was right. He meddled intensively with drug rings and other crime circles, whatever he could investigate and localize on. Adam was a nuisance, but proud of it.

When he met his sister again, no doubt in the middle of an illegal sale, it took all of him to not hug her right then and there. He was mad, no doubt, and hurt that she had left so quickly, but he had missed her terribly. He was lonely in those five years, bouncing between lovers and friends in some attempt at getting close to someone again, but he had only a little bit of trust for strangers. No one could replace a sister, especially not a twin sister.

He was even more elated when she vowed to help him, showing off her surprising intellect and talent for working with computers and tech. He had high hopes, imagining them being a team. She wasn’t much for the spotlight, but he’d have no issue should fame come their way. He never admitted it, but Adam was an idealist. He imagined a perfect future, a real superhero.

Things were dashed quickly. Following his death, he found himself unable to remember how he died. He knew that he was dead, but not the circumstances. All he remembered was the infinite nothing, then eventually finding himself in Eva’s apartment. Maybe she’d called out to him unknowingly, in her grief, and it summoned him. Maybe his energy was so strong that he manifested on his own. Adam would never know, but he knew that it was a sign that through Eva, he’d have another shot.

She wasn’t a hero, but she could be. He’d be the angel on her shoulder, loaning her advice on investigations and if she got herself into trouble. He could only watch, however, which broke the man terribly inside-- but he kept a brave face.

As long as Eva managed to keep herself alive, he would be able to live with himself. Well, his deadself.

extra info: More of a nuisance than a vigilante superhero, Adam would be remembered as a hot-tempered man with a desire for justice, and to do things on his own.

Lyra Jinx
Dossier

Name: Lyra Jinx
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Date of Birth: February 17th
Zodiac: Pisces
Place of Birth: Heartbeat City
Race/Ethnicity: White
Face Claim: Olivia Wilde (Specifically from her role as Quorra in Tron: Legacy)

Persona

Personality: Lyra is an opportunist. She sees situations through the lens of what it can do for her, rather than if it is right or wrong. She doesn’t have any strong ties of allegiance. She could work with a gang doing illegal work one day and turn around and be a mole for the police on that same gang the next. The only thing in her mind is her own personal success and the opportunities she uncovers. She’s extremely creative and resourceful, typically managing to scrape together half baked plans or strategies with whatever she’s been given. Despite her calculating nature, she has a habit of getting starstruck at people who appear to offer a great advantage/gain to her. As a habitual liar, Lyra usually sits upon a web of lies to obscure the truth of her motives. Her memories from the past are usually skewed because of this habit. She’s just as willing to lie to herself to cover up a traumatic memory.

Alignment: Neutral Evil. Sides with whatever benefits her the most in that particular moment.

Positive traits (4+): Driven, tenacious, creative, resourceful

Negative traits (4+): Fickle, selfish, apathetic, untrustworthy

Likes (4+): Success, night time, adrenaline, adventure, cold drinks, rain, wealth

Dislikes (4+): Losing, being tricked, early morning, cowards, bitter foods

Fears: Chronic illness, developing trauma

Ailments: Low blood pressure. She has poor blood circulation because of this, causing her hands, feet and nose to be more susceptible to cold. Her hands are typically cold in many situations and she typically avoids going completely barefoot.

— ABILITIES.

Power:

Petrification: With touch, Lyra can freeze limbs or an entire body completely immobile, as if the person had been turned to stone.

Strengths:
-One touch is all it takes for Lyra to freeze a region of the body. Ex: forearm, fingers, neck, eyes.
-She can freeze with any part of her body, not just her hands.
-She can freeze her own body parts if needed. Ex: bracing an arm to absorb a blow.

Weaknesses:
-It takes time for Lyra to fully freeze someone from head to toe. If unable to garner the opportunity to hold on for an extended period, she will only manage to freeze limbs or small sections.
-The more someone struggles, the harder it is for her to hold them. If they’re extremely persistent and physically strong, it takes all of her energy just to hold them in place.
-She can only hold one entire body at a time. The way she reaches this limit is up in the air. Ex: she can freeze someone's arms, and a different person’s legs.

History

Relationships (family, friends, dating, etc):

Jax Hirsch: Lyra's ex boyfriend and body guard at a gambling club she frequented. Although broken up, he typically comes to her aid when she gets a bit out of her depth when gambling, which is pretty frequently.

Alessa Jinx: Lyra's mother, whom she still remains in frequent contact with. Although they don't necessarily have the healthiest relationship, Lyra still recognizes the hard work her mother had put forth to provide a stable home and keep food on the table. She now helps Alessa out when coming into a little money now and then.

Background:
Born to a single mother bordering on poverty, Lyra is no stranger to the underbelly of Heartbeat City. Growing up in the East side of the city, their apartment bordered on the edge of the South side, a dangerous but affordable feature. Neon streets crawling with criminal activities were her playground as a kid. Her mother worked a lot of night shifts, which typically meant that Lyra was in charge of managing herself. She learned and was exposed to a lot at a young age, the main influences on her character being those of a more unsavory nature. Lyra’s tendency towards a selfish and opportunistic mindset began to cement at this point in her life. After seeing her mother work hard at an honest life, still struggling to make ends meet while others hustled and finagled their way to success, a legal, safe life was out of the question.
Reaching into her late teens, Lyra dropped out of school and moved out on her own to the West side of Heartbeat city to alleviate her mother’s financial responsibilities. She worked as a bartender at The Answer, a nightclub known for its particular type of clientele, providing her with a plentiful array of opportunities to make some quick cash and fund her moderately lavish lifestyle. Valued for her questionable morality and surprisingly flexible allegiance, Lyra has caught the eye of powerful figures in the Hell Hounds, keeping herself out of the crosshairs of the law for quite some time. Needless to say, she has her fingers in a lot of pies and her river of connections run deep

Extra info: Lyra loves gambling, but unfortunately for her, isn’t really any good at it. The idea of having millions of opportunities thrust before her never fails to leave her starstruck. She usually ends up losing quite a bit of her money or valuable possessions this way.
