The Magnificent Manbeard
My idea for this is to take the DC Universe reshape it as a modern supernatural fantasy with similarities to Harry Potter:

According to ancient legends, the Guardians of the Sky descended long ago and gave Man the gift of magic. This event is known as the Awakening, where the minds of the Chosen were expanded to perceive and manipulate Mana, a magical energy summoned from the Vale of Echoes. The Vale was a spiritual realm that existed as a barrier between the Material Planes and the Outer Planes, which included places like the Silver City, the Forest of Dreams, the Pit of Ordeals, and the Abyss of Lost Souls.

While the Outer Planes were shaped by angels, spirits, demons, and other ethereal beings, the Vale was an echo of the worlds of mortals. It was the one place where travel between the different Material Planes of the Multiverse could be possible. Each Material Plane had it's own version of the physical universe -- including infinite Earths. Some very similar, others remarkably different. But all connected by a single Vale of Echoes.

Today, the descendants of the Chosen are called the "Skyborn". Anyone not of these ancient bloodlines is thought to be "Grounded," meaning they are not of the Guardians of the Sky and can't fly beyond their physical world. Most of the Skyborn community refers to non-magical people as "Grounders." They keep the magical world hidden by means of the League of Lanterns, which ensures their people stay out of sight of the Grounders, shedding light on offenders while casting shadows on non-magical eyes. There are harsh penalties for violations of the Laws of Magic set forth in the Sacred Scrolls, governed by the Council of Magisters.

Hidden through out the world are secret communities and schools for the study of magic. Gotham City, New Jersey, however, has grown to become the Skyborn capital. In 1984 it overtook New York as the largest city in the USA, and later, the world. It is also home to what many people consider the best school of magical studies in the country -- Gotham Academy. Tuition is insane, requiring nearly a million Espers for a four year run. Espers are heavily enchanted gold coins that are impossible to counterfeit without tripping a scanner off.

The Academy does offer an alternative to direct payment, however -- an option many of the students utilize. They can attend the Academy tuition-free -- usually from ages 14-18 -- if they pledge to serve in the League of Lanterns for the same number of years they did not pay for schooling. So, if you received four years of free studies, then you serve the League for four years after graduation. There is an opt-out option since the agreement was made when the student was only 14, but doing so invalidates any diplomas earned, so this is rarely used.

So, my idea for this is to take the characters of Teen Titans/Young Justice and respin them as apprentice sorcerers learning at this "magical high school" of sorts. Some of our teachers are Madame Xanadu, Jason Blood/Etrigan, Sebastian Faust, and Headmaster Giovanni Zatara. Faust has spent a lifetime trying to shed the shadow of his father, Felix, who turned to the dark arts and became an evil necromancer.

I will play Dick Grayson and Conner Kent as my main two characters to start. Dick doesn't have a lot of raw power, but what little is there he learns to use masterfully, focusing far more on speed, agility, and stealth than brute strength. Conner, on the other hand, is the exact opposite -- stubborn, hot-heated, and capable of accessing a vast internal well of raw Mana. He lacks the patience and the focus to cast complicated spells, but becomes an expert at channeling his power into his physical muscles, either to reinforce a punch or a kick or to release an energy blast from his hands.

For the ages, I was thinking our characters could be around 17 and just starting our final year at the Academy. We help thwart a nefarious plot at the school, then go on to embark on adventures as Lanterns. Feel free to adapt existing characters or create your own :D.

As Lanterns, we can go off on adventures that normally the Teen Titans/Young Justice teams would do, but with a supernatural twist. One of our first missions can be to help John Constantine investigate a magical crime scene.
