Graded [Frontier] Dude, Where's My Ladder?!

Kasumi let go of the pillar as the collum of wind collided and then went silent again. Well that is definitely not normal to say the least. Though what is with the leaves? She thought to herself as she pushed some of the leaves around as the floor seemed to disappear. Which caused her to cock an eyebrow brushing some of her silver hair behind her ear.

Crouching down, she looked around and saw the ramp covered in leaves as well, leading up into the sky.
"Huh? There was an invisible ramp." She stated, looking around at the others as a few of them had shifted from the wind. I suppose some of them are not as heavy as they thought. She thought to herself before placing her hands on her hips.

Walking along the inside the pillars to avoid the edge, Kasumi slowly made her way toward the ramp. Seeing the food that was now replaced with something else. Which only caused more confusion in her mind. To her, this whole place didn't make much sense to her at all. As she moved forward she would slide her foot forward and test the area before taking a step just to make sure to avoid any edges as she made her way toward the ramp.

  • The strain from clenching every single muscle that he could, and I mean every single one, left Alex in a state of momentary fatigue. But seeing the aftermath brought about by the blast of wind and leaves, it was well worth it. Alex was fortunate enough that Baharius was also close by. He was just big and heavy enough to prevent him from getting blown away. The rest of his companions, on the other hand, even the larger ones, were sent tumbling to the ground.

"Is everyone okay?" Alex was not out of breath, but his breathing did appear deeper than usual. Glancing at their surroundings, to see how everyone else was doing, Alex couldn't help but notice the excessive amount of foliage that covered the floor, and the disappearance of the food cart that was previously laid out for them earlier.

Waiting for the rest of the group to get back to their feet, Alex walked opposite to Kasumi and made his way towards the gift basket of treats that had strangely appeared out of nowhere. Picking it up, he thought that it would be best if he held on to it. If it wasn't of any importance, the baked goods that it contained certainly tasted good. He could bring it home as a souvenir. "If I didn't know any better, it felt like fairies or sylphs are playing tricks on us." Alex jokingly spoke, chuckling at his own words hoping to lighten up everyone else's mood.

With the intense winds getting closer, Baharius braced for immediate impact. It all seemed that everyone, including Alex now latching tight onto his long webbed tail, were going to be sucked into the crimson vortex and ripped asunder. Yet as he prepared for the worst, the tornado collided with the tower, exploding in a fury of leaves and wind, and then... nothing. The saurian opened his eyes to inspect the lack of damage brought upon them. An eerie silence descended upon the tower; the leaves now slowly floating down onto the platform like any other autumn evening. It was a weird phenomena indeed. This unnerved him slightly, but he was nonetheless thankful that he's still alive. Everyone else also remained relatively unscathed, saving themselves from descending tens of meters to the forest below.

Alex asked if everyone was ok, as he released his grip from Baharius' tail. "Fine." the general responded, as he looked around perplexingly in rapid breaths, "What in the gods just happened?"

Every step the hulking saurian took sank into the excessive crunching of leaves that now covered the entire platform; as if it was completely replaced by foliage. He snarled in disbelief as he carefully made his footing. Even with his large claws attempting to dig up the leaves would the concrete floor remain hidden. That's when he also noticed that the food cart was gone, now replaced by a simple gift basket with samples of the seasonal goodies provided by the cart within. This has been already incredibly odd situation; how much weirder can things get from here?

"Something is making a fool out of us all here..." Baharius lowly said, in response to Alex's lighthearted jest. Indeed, he wouldn't be surprised if something like fairies or sorcerers happened to be responsible for this madness.

Kasumi would be the first to bring attention to the once invisible ramp, now marked by the excess amounts of leaves settling upon it. As she took her first steps, Baharius cautiously approached the base and inspected its stability with a curious gaze. "Be careful..." the saurian muttered at the ascending woman. Slowly, he planted his foot upon the ramp to ensure it could support his bulk. It seemed like it could. With that, he gesturing everyone to come forth with a simple head turn. "Let us ascend."

Soon after the tornado has finished, Slaxetron let go and fell onto the floor. Soon after, he began to raise himself up. “Phew…” He says, clearing any possible dust off him. That was quite bizarre, and scary, considering he could have got blown away.

He saw the rest of the group cornering a… leaf ramp? He wasn’t sure how this even happened, and doubted he could even go ahead without falling. He approaches the team to take a closer look at the ramp. “Interesting…”. Slaxetron could see Kasumi already ascend, and so was Baharius, also assuring the group to follow them. “We’ll then, let’s go up..” And with that said, Slax clunked to the ramp alongside the Saurian.

Lucius found himself wondering if Jupiter really was upset or if this was just Janus with trickery galore. The god of gateways was famously fickle, always offering a choice. Thankfully he hadn't been blown off and neither had any of his men. They grumbled sure, but he doubted any of them were seriously injured. Lucius motioned for them to join him and he looked around a bit before spotting the basket where the food had been. Then the distinctly strange looking man picked it up. Lucius made a small "tch" noise in annoyance and turned back to the situation at hand. He would worry about food in a bit. The leaves didn't seem to clear at all despite how much he and his men kicked it up and there was a ramp that cured up and away. He shrugged. "Gods be good, let us hope that Janus is feeling nice today." Behind him some of his men muttered prayers in latin. "Onwards and upwards I suppose." He marched up to the ramp and ascended after the others.

The steampunk priest groans as he rubs the back of his head. His shoulder blades and the base of his neck are pretty sore, but otherwise, he seems to be unhurt. The brass and glass ornaments clink as he stands up. He brushes some loose leaves off of his cloak and coat, a frown on his face. Looking at his changed surroundings, he curses under his breath. A slightly shaky prayer begins to fall from his lips: "May the blessing of God allow my heart to stand steadfast before any threat. May my heart remain calm, and may my aim be true..."

As he shook off the soreness, he noticed the others beginning their ascent. He pauses for a moment, before following slightly behind them. His rifle clacks as he loads it while walking.

Ivory Tower...Somewhere?

While Alex collected the snacks, the rest of the party would move to ascend the ramp. Like the ramp itself, the railing was invisible, but was about waist high on the average man. The ramp was around 15ft across and went up at a gentle slope. Despite the leaves typically being slick in how easy they shifted around, no one slipped while walking on the ramp.

Following the red, leaf road, the party would leave the tower behind. The air was fresh before in the tower, but there was something extra about walking on a bridge of leaves over a very dangerous fall with nothing but brilliant sunset above and sea of autumn turned trees below. The calm that came after the tornado was broken by a gentle breeze. As they passed above, the party would notice the trees below swaying and bending back and forth in the wind with flickers of movement among the leaves.

After walking for several minutes, the group came to a wide open platform at least as wide as the tower but minus an obstructing views of the sky. Able to spread out and feel a bit more secure, the party would have the chance to look around and see mostly what they had been seeing so far. The red leaves slowly tumbled off the edges of the platform and gently drifted to the forest floor like a red rain. Alex would note a note in the basket of goodies. It read in a cursive, common script,

"Please proceed to the observation platform. The event is about to begin."

Slowly but surely, Baharius climbed the steps that beckoned him towards the heavens; crimson leaves crunching beneath his every step. Even as the calm gentle breeze brushed against him, he couldn't help but keep a clean eye out for any other unusual circumstances. The general took a moment to look down at the dizzying heights they currently find themselves in. Vertigo brushed through his conscious, forcing Baharius to keep focus with the path ahead. The fact they were ascending into the sky was already odd enough... but for what purpose? Were they to meet with angels? Gods? It almost felt like they've died yet a second time and are to meet with the gods of the afterlife, judged as whether or not they enter. Yet for all he knew, this could very well be some elaborated trap designed to kill them.

Nonetheless, they'll all surely find out their true purposes here soon enough...

After what felt like a solid hour of walking, the several minute excursion would see them to another floating platform much like the tower they were just in. This structure, however, was completely enclosed. Baharius could breathe just a little easier knowing they were relatively safer in here. He took a moment to glance around at their immediate surroundings, before he found himself glancing at the note which Alex held from the basket of goodies.

"Event?" Baharius bemused aloud, before rereading the note in his head, "By whom? Regarding what?" He gave a worried snarl as he glanced over at the entrance way towards their current rendezvous, cautiously making his way with a hint of hesitation.

Pierre listened on as everyone else went about their introductions, moreso just absently nodding as he looked out to the view of the tower. He even continued this whist spacing out to Slax’s comments. Safe to say he found himself lost in the view, and in thought.

Though he suddenly found himself snapping out of his trance upon feeling numerous men clinging to his body, alongside the burst of wind suddenly sliding him into a pillar with said men still attached like he was still some kind of teddy bear.

“…Merde.. You sirs ok?” Least he could do was briefly check them before following after the others, in which yes, it was slightly frightening due to the height and potential fall, but he pushed on before hearing the voice.

“If we’re heading to an Observation platform, then certainly whatever this event may be won’t have a direct effect towards us, rather it seems we may be about to witness a performance of some kind.” He noted out loud as he trailed closely behind the rest.

Kasumi continued up the ramp and moved a bit quicker when she felt the railing. Well at least we don't have to worry about being thrown off unless we get lifted up into the air. She thought to herself as she continued to ascend the ramp until reaching the structure that was on the next level. Letting out a small sigh of relief as she saw the building had walls.

Looking down below, she saw the trees as they swayed from the wind. She found it odd that the weather behaved like this, though she was glad that there wasn't a tornado at least for now. Not wanting to waste time she moved into the observation building and glanced around with her eyes for a moment before started to investigate the area.

Janus had certainly outdone himself if this was some sort of choice. Lucius found himself bemused about the situation. An invisible ramp that led into the sky. If he didn't know any better he would have thought he was heading to Olympus itself. The "platform" they were on was completely invisible save for the leaves. This was like a story straight out of those greek epics. He sighed as he took in the view and then looked over at the basket with all the samples. It would have been nice to at least have another mug of that warm cider. He walked himself to the edge of the platform and plopped down at the edge of the platform. Not exactly what you would expect from a centurion in full battle armor, but then again very few of this group probably knew what a centurion even was. He gestured to the floor for his men who eagerly took the opportunity to sit near him. He figured if a windstorm came along they'd be screwed anyways so why not go ahead and rest where he wanted. The view itself was beautiful. He wondered if the brochure had been for a vacation, as this certainly felt like one.

  • The unease that was brought about by the tremulous squall soon passed as everyone decided to proceed forward. Though still cautious, Alex was aware that nothing would happen if they remained idle and simply waited for something to happen. Not planning to lug around the gift basket, Alex hid it within his pocket dimension, but held on to the note that had been placed in it. As they made their way across the invisible bridge, he couldn't help but wonder what the message left to them meant. "Aside from the brochure, does anyone remember anything about an event?" He waved the note in the air as he looked at everyone around him. They might have been as clueless as he was, but Alex figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Their apparent ascent on the "magical" ramp had ended as they found themselves on what felt like another platform. They were definitely higher up, but even them, the fear of actually falling wasn't as evident as it was before. Since no one from their group knew what was going on, Alex decided to just ask out loud. "Hello, whoever you are!" He shouted at the sky. It felt like someone or something had been observing them. "Thank you for the treats! But where exactly are we?" Alex thought that if he just asked, he'd get some kind of answer. "And what event are you talking about?"

Red Forest...Somewhere?

Once all characters had gathered on the invisible tower of leaves, the leaves outlining the bridge they had crossed to get there gently fell away. Starting out of sight and getting closer to the party, the bridge gradually disappeared from even being recognizable as the leaves drifted away into the first below. It was around that time that the party started to recalled things at the mention of the 'notes' words.

They would all recall an eccentrically dressed girl passing out brochures. In some cases, there was no one else around for miles to pass brochures out to, and yet, there she was handing one out with a smile and a sales pitch. They could recall her mouth moving and the sound of her voice but the words she said precisely didn't yet come to them. Something about the word 'event' jogged a memory along with the word 'brochure'. A brochure discussing scenic views for vacationing. A mention of an event....the rest drawing a blank.

The air suddenly came alive with a music as the platform they stood upon fell away, releasing the leaves that covered it as well. The party would be forced to the center of the platform or they too would fall. Time would tell that it made no difference. In moments, all of the party were in free fall as whatever had supported them to this point had fallen away. They fell for barely a second when a strong updraft caught them and slow their descent before rocketing them back into the air. Even the Tank and Mech were no exceptions. The party would soon be flying over the forest of red, propelled by unseen wind currents that made no sense. The snack basket would coast through the air beside them, carried on the same winds.

The music eventually hit a fever pitch as gargantuan shapes of creatures started to from among the sunset clouds above and the bloody leaves before. As the party started to plummet again, another draft caught them and sent them back up. This process would repeat in keeping them aloft and allowing them to spectate the massive monstrous forms appearing before their eyes as the music danced in the air. Dragons of cloud descended while giant titans of red forest rose up to clash with one another.

SlaxHeader.png
Slaxetron finally reached the floating structure, feeling a bit enclosed in this one compared to the other tower. He was quite interested. “So.. anothe-“ He was suddenly interrupted by Baharus speaking about a “event”. “A event? Now that sounds strange..”

And then it happened.

The platform that was supporting them disappeared peace by peace, forcing Slaxetron to run.
“Get to the center!” He shouts in pure panic. As he reached the center, he suddenly felt that.. isn’t wasn’t there? That was the only thing he could think before falling alongside the group. “AAAAAAA-“ He screamed, believing at this height he would die. He eventually saw multiple giant bei-

He felt that he hit a ground, or so he thought. Standing up, he could see he was in another platform, a hovering one this time. With that said, he took notice to the dragons and giant creatures awakening from.. a slumber or something. Slax didn’t really know what the hell was happening..

Kasumi stoped at the top of the ramp turning to look at Alex when he asked about the brochure. "I barely remember the brochure, though I think it was a girl handing them out to people." Kasumi stated as she brought her hand up to her chin, trying to remember what she could about the brochure. "It was kind of strange though, no one else was around and it wasn't like she was passing them out in populated areas," Kasumi concluded letting out a sigh.

When the man then started to shout she simply shook her head. Surely if someone was here to greet us, they would have shown up by now. She thought to herself as she was about to take a step, the platform started to disintegrate beneath her feet. "You have got to be kidding me!" She screamed as she started to free-fall through the sky. Turning onto her back she saw the mech started to fall as well.

As the updraft shot her back up she let out another scream with the sudden change of direction. A moment later she saw that she was flying above the forest with the others. "Well that was unexpected." She stated looking around at the large creatures came into view. Mentally bracing herself if they were about to fly between the fighting giants.

With the next updraft that shot her back up in the sky as they seemed to be flying around the creatures, she rolled back around so her back was towards the ground. "What do you all think of this?" She called out hoping the others would have some more insight on the matter.

Lucius was lost deep in thought over the beauty of the landscape. Too deep to listen much to what strangers around him were saying. A fuzzy memory popped into his head as he sat. A woman handing out brochures in a tavern. An event. A vacation. That was all he could remember try as he might. It frustrated him to no end that he couldn't figure out what had happened after, but he figured he must have approached her. She had been quite strangely dressed at the time from what he remembered, and he had probably been drinking if he was in a tavern. Probably stuck out like a sore thumb. His thinking was interrupted by the rush of leaves and the floor dropping out from beneath him. "What in the name of Pluto's beard-" That was all he could say before his voice turned to a pitch decisively less Roman. He was dropped at a breakneck speed yelling and cursing his men right behind him with similar attitudes. Then he was flung back up by some miracle. Then the cycle repeated itself and he was left in freefall again. Eventually he got used to the process and was able to comfortably look around him. He realized that there was music electrifying the air as massive titans of earth and sky crashed together in a way that only mythology had described in Rome. He was quietly awed by the display even as his men were flung up and down beside him. They were decisively less enthralled.

  • With most of them preoccupied with their own thoughts, only Kasumi replied to Alex's inquiries but unfortunately, even her memory was as vague as his. Hoping to hear a response from whoever it who was responsible for their current predicament, Alex simply stared into the sky, still optimistic that he would get the answer he was looking for. He didn't though. Instead, what they received was a surprise no one could have expected.

As the floor beneath them shattered into nothing, Alex fell forward, his body oriented in a near vertical position, but with his head directed towards the ground. Unable to catch his breath before the fall, Alex couldn't even let out a scream. His arms flailed in panic while his heart raced as if wanted to jump out of his chest. Fear had drowned out his senses, making him incapable of responding appropriately to the unfortunate situation he was put in. Without much to do, Alex grit his teeth, closed his eyes, and prepared for the worst. Surprisingly, the worst never came. Instead of excruciating pain with an audible splat, a heavy crash, or breaking bones, Alex felt a cool breeze from under him that pushed him back up. Then down again. Then up again. It was a unnatural pattern pattern that left him in a prone freefalling position, suspended in midair. Soon, his mind had become clearer and his heart had calmed down. Despite the position he was in, Alex couldn't help but smile and enjoy what he felt was the closest thing to actually flying.

"I-is everyone okay?" His breaths were deep and heavy, but he couldn't get rid of the smile on his way. "That was, quite the experience, huh?" Alex was at a loss for words. It was definitely an experience he would never forgot. He immediately realized that he spoke too soon as behemoth-like bodies from the sky above them and the ground below, appeared out of nowhere. Alex did not feel any sense of fear or panic this time around. What he felt was awe and wonder. "This must be the event they were talking about?" He thought to himself, watching the mystical spectacle that was taking place around them.

Whatever thoughts he previously had that were filled with worry and doubt had taken a backseat. It was certainly naiva, but Alex could not help himself since this was first time he had experienced something so grandiosely supernatural in his left. Well, aside from the whole transmigration thing, you know. Like a kid in a toy store, Alex's head flickered from one direction to another, clearly enjoying what he was seeing.

"I think its pretty magical." Alex joyfully grinned. Obviously, this wasn't the type of answer Kasumi wanted. If he could, Alex would have shared something more productive and constructive. But right now, he served little to no use to the group.

Wanting to get a better look at the monstrous clash that was about to happen, Alex reached out for the coasting snack basket and - I don't know why - and proceeded to breast stroke his way closer to the titanic creatures. It was certainly questionable whether this would actually bring him any closer.

Baharius shook his head when Alex asked if anyone remembered an event described in the brochure. "Not particularly." he remarked bluntly. Really, the saurian couldn't remember much regarding what he had seen in the brochure. He swore there had to be a few more lines of information, besides that general information everyone already knew, but the fact he passed out shortly after receiving it was exceptionally hazy. A few seconds of mind-digging would dredge up the term "event", but nothing more aside from an autumn-styled vacation. But alas, here they were now; at the mercy of what or whom had placed them here under powers Baharius could barely comprehend. He could only hope this would be quick.

And then the platform suddenly gave way.

A howling roar emitted from Baharius' toothy maw as he found himself free falling for what felt like the longest second of his life before an updraft began to soften their descend. For that moment, the saurian gave an uneasy growl as he flailed momentarily before finding himself launched back into the air with awesome force. Another howl emitted from his lips; with his stomach already feeling queasy from not only the sudden jerk but the fact he and the others seemed to be flying across the air at great force. This exhilarating feeling fueled Baharius' with fear. wonder, and adrenaline altogether on the likes never did he feel before. He couldn't help but marvel how this was what it must feel like to fly like the great pterosaur-kin back home.

Yet looking above, his eyes grew wide as two creatures of unbelievably gigantic proportions clashed in the skies above them; both accentuated by the dramatic crescendo that matched the scene perfectly. The saurian could barely contain himself. What was even happening?! Then he'd plummet back down again with the others, before the process began to repeat in synchrony. And even after all this, the saurian would see the snack basket flying alongside them; the contents somehow remaining within said basket instead of flying allover the place. Baharius couldn't help but struggle to get his meaty claws on the basket for a quick stress snack, but he couldn't yet maneuver his sheer bulk in place yet.

While all this was taking place, he'd hear Kasumi and Alex conversing over their sudden predicament, with the latter somehow finding himself enjoying the whole thing. Others, he noted, were still very much in shock with these sudden sensations. Baharius, unsurprisingly, was one of the latter.

"HAVE YOU GONE MAD?!" the saurian general bellowed at Alex's absolutely ridiculous claim as he span around uncontrollably, "DO THEY WANT TO KILL US WITH THIS HORRIFYING SPECTACLE?!"

The cleric of the God of Steam idly listened to the conversation, not fully paying attention. As cold breezes whip around him, sending his baubles and trinkets into a frenzy of clinking, he grabs the edges of his fur-lined cloak and wraps it tighter around his slim frame. He cringed as his boots crunched as he walked up the leafy ramp, fearing that the ground might fall away underneath him.

His left hand is loosely grasping his smoothbore rifle, and his right hand slides over the grain of the wooden gunstock as a sort-of meditation. His singular, blue eye flicks between each of the strange characters he is accompanying-- he still can't get over the talking robot. Transformers, his mind supplies from his fragmented memories of Earth.

As the conversation steers slightly, and at the mention of some sort of "event" on the note, several of Basil's memories sluggishly resurface. He remembered waking up and stumbling down the steps of a small tavern, and seeing a girl with brochures and a rehearsed sales pitch. "It seems that all of our experiences align once more. I also met some girl who was giving out brochures."

Once the party finally reached the platform of leaves, the gunslinger sighs and rests his hands on his knees. While he wasn't that tired, his legs and lower back still ached from being slammed into a pillar by a whirling tornado. Before he could catch his breath, as soon as his feet touched the upper platform, he felt the ground fall away underneath; his fears had come true. "I hate my-- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH--"

The powerful updraft flares his cloak out, and he is pushed back up by the wind. His hand rests on his halved top-hat, ensuring it doesn't fly away. The gears and chains on his black-and-gold jacket produce sounds like windchimes. A wide smile splits his face, as he spins around in the air currents. "Okay, now I know someone slipped something into my drink last night."

"Also, where the feck is the music coming from?"

Red Forest...Somewhere?

Z0o6VQuYkLTxRVB1KnB1--2--UI96M_6x.jpg
Zhur_taa.jpg

After the party had been flying around on the strange winds for a while, the fight between the two massive creatures commenced. The dragon's roar was like thunder and lightning streaked through the sky overhead as it threatened to blot out the setting sun. The behemoth below bellowed and it was like a hurricane's wind as the red forest bent away from the beast from the pressure. Even the spectators riding the winds were close enough to feel the exchanges of the two massive creatures. Then it commenced in earnest as the dragon swooped in and scoured the behemoth's back. The collision was met with an explosion of sound that dispersed red leaves and clouds into the air. The land titan, in turn, reared its head and gored the dragon with one of its horns as the cloud lizard flew through. Another explosion of clouds and red leaves. The exchange left both leaking something of the other that was left behind.

Several more exchanges took place, each more intense than the last. It quickly became apparent the winds were taking the party closer to the action as it was winding to a climax. The simple shifting of the land title shook the ground and made the party feel like they were in the presence of a rockslide. Meanwhile, the dragon's body was so large and long that it was like watching a train or a river of clouds go by and the air whipped at their clothes even more as it did so.

The proximity of the party to the monsters in addition to their more focused thoughts on their previous memories gave them a new revelation: the monsters they were witnessing, including the red forest and white tower were in the brochure handed to them. The brochure itself was hyping up some amazing sights, scenery and events. Words like vacation spots and tranquil views. Both the brochure and now the girl could be remembered saying "Come to our Grand Opening"

That's when the battle had run its course. Both creatures were poised to strike the final blow. The dragon was streaking down from the heavens with massive jaws open to take off the titan's head. The titan had stood on hits hind legs and rose to meet the dragon, its horns and clawed hands ready to tare the beast from the sky. The winds carrying the party suddenly shifted and were funneling them into the danger zone where the two creatures were to meet and settle things once and for all. The pressure in the air was palpable as the music played louder to overcome the wind rushing by everyone's ears. This was it as all 3 forces were on a collision course with the forces to likely level the forest like a volcano explosion.

Kasumi, by this point, had calmed down about flying through the air. She shifted her eyes around, hoping to find something to explain this. Though it seemed many others were in awe of what was happening in front of them. Though, to be fair, she thought it was pretty impressive. But she was still trying to make sense of all of this situation. The updraft repeating itself was intriguing to her. However, she didn't seem to see anything out of the ordinary.

She watched as the trees bowed as one of the creatures roared, thinking back to the tornado from earlier. She was curious to see if there was anything connected with that. She brought her hands up to her jaw bone and rested them on it as she soared through the air as the creatures duked it out. "Wait!" She shouted as the winds now brought them closer to the exchange as she quickly shut her eyes as the music only seemed to increase even more.

Where is this music coming from?! She thought to herself as she opened her eyes as she looked around. As the phrase came back to her mind as the mention of the grand opening. Wait is this some sort of sales pitch? Are we even awake right now or did we get drugged? She thought to herself as she tried to pinch her arm to see if she was awake as they flowed even closer to the danger zone. Bracing herself as they moved closer to the creatures as the levels of the forest increased.

  • Some remained baffled at the events that had taken place as they still tried to make sense of it all, while others continued to be cautious, keeping their guard up for what could come. Alex, on the other hand, had subconsciously accepted things as they were and began to immerse himself with the grand scenery laid out in front of them. For some reason, he no longer felt immediately threatened by the gargantuan beasts, but simply amazed. It could have been his childish curiosity and naivety getting the best of him, the treats he had eaten earlier that was causing his strange behavior, or again, something about the brochure that probably piqued his interest. Regardless of the reason, Alex wanted to make the most of the experience. His attempts to get closer to the danger zone were assisted by the wind currents that kept them afloat. They worked to his favor and guided him nearer.

As he drew closer, with awe-stricken eyes, Alex was speechless, but couldn't help himself gasping and letting out audible oohhs and aahhs as the titanic beasts clashed, splitting the clouds above them and the earth below. It was nostalgic for Alex as it reminded him of his childhood and the times he would stay up late at night to watch kaiju-esque cartoons and movies with his father and brothers. It was definitely a fond memory that he had gradually forgotten over the years. With most of his days being preoccupied with actual responsibilities and work, Alex could no longer find the time for such simple leisures in life.

Not only his eyes and head, but Alex's entire body appeared animated as he was locked on to battle between the massive creatures. His fists were clenched as he smiled, obviously enjoying the spectacle he was witnessing. The swelling music and the palpable vibrations from it made his heart race in anticipation for what was about to come. He could feel it. Holding his breath, Alex readied himself for what looked to be the climax of the event. The event that they were, uh, invited to?

In the back of his mind, as lingering thoughts, Alex could slowly recall what took place before his arrival at the ivory tower. His memory remained blurry at best, but he remember something about a grand opening.

As the titanic spectacle continued uninterruptedly, Baharius gradually forced himself to steel his resolve. Accepting his situation was the least he could do; even in the face of what seemed like certain death. But despite this, even as he felt the rushing shockwave from each exchange of blows, he couldn't help but marvel at the mythological combat spread out across the sky. It drew him back to his youth; where he'd heard many stories and tall tales told of giant god-like beings having created his world long ago. One dominated by a pantheon of monsters and entities far beyond anyone's comprehension. Battles, like the one present before them, were not uncommon; each blow shaping the earth and sky to what they deemed fit. Missed strikes gashed giant ravines deep within the earth, earthshaking stomps blew magma out the tops of mountains, drawn blood pools to create the expansive lakes and vein-riddled rivers, and mile-long streams of unleashed aether manipulated winds currents of blazing heat and chilling cold. That world, for the first time, has now been made reality; giving comprehension to that ancient, primordial world in ways unfathomable.

The saurian general couldn't help but be awe-struck, as his eyes pressed upon the ensuring combat with hypnotic wonder. He was so entranced by the scene at this point that he scarcely realized that they were all being dragged closer to the approaching battle. The bombastic music continued graduating, building up to what could only be a climatic crescendo. And as they got closer, Baharius would begin to gain a better picture of the two entities. Memories began flooding back in brief increments, before suddenly granting the saurian with a sudden realization. His eyes widened.

These were the monsters shown in the brochure!

As were the crimson forest and the white tower! It was all coming back to him, even if it was not the complete picture. He remembered the brochure hyping up the tranquil views of this grand vacation, with amazing sights and sounds. And he was even able to recall the person who gave it to her, a young girl, asking if he would come to their "grand opening". And what an opening it was. Baharius couldn't help but give a chuckle, turning into a euphoric cackle until he emitted full joyful belly laughs of roaring laughter.

"By the gods!" he exclaimed with enhanced vigor, spreading his massive scaly arms out in excitement, "It's... IT'S BEAUTIFUL!"

And as the battle finally reached its climax, music swelling in the background, the saurian allowed himself to prepare for what was about to come next. Either he'll find himself back on the ground with the others, or die a death that only the greatest of soldiers could ever hope to dream of.

Whatever the outcome; Baharius would welcome his fate~

Lucius had decided he hated flying. He also decided he hated pranks from the gods. This grand opening was certainly grand, even if it involved them being bounced up and down in the air at breakneck speeds. He wished for a moment that he hadn't even seen that brochure. He also wished he hadn't eaten those lovely treats. The up and down motion of the ride was making him quite sick to the stomach. His men behind him continued to shout and curse in the common tongue. Then he spotted that he was heading straight for the two clashing titans. The magnificent battle was coming to a conclusion and he was heading straight for it. He was likely to die here. He uttered a small silent prayer to Jupiter with his eyes closed. Perhaps he would finally be allowed to rest when he died.

At this point, Basil decided that if this was real, this would be a terrible way to die-- caught in a conflict that had nothing to do with him, with no way of influencing the outcome. If it wasn't real, like some kind of virtual reality from the Otherworld or a pocket dimension of sorts, he wanted to have a harsh word with whoever put him here. "Beautiful, in a primal way. I can understand it to a certain level," he remarks.

His coat flapped in the wind and he struggled to right himself through the bouncing gales. He felt much more calm than before, his heart no longer pounding in his chest to the rhythm of the music. His hair had been swept from under his hat by the wind, and was now trailing behind him like a golden ribbon. Absent thoughts floated through his mind as he began to disassociate; Normally, I would brace for impact, but... not really anything to brace against, huh?
