Graded [Frontier] Ancient Ruins Beneath the Scarlet Sands (Amanda Steelhavens Precision Tribulation)

Uasal

The Swiftest Shot In The West
1697292257884.jpeg

In the vast expanse of a desolate wasteland, where the relentless sun painted the landscape with hues of scorching orange and unforgiving yellow, a hidden secret lay buried beneath the shifting sands. For centuries, a colossal stone door, ancient and unyielding, had defied the curiosity of explorers and the longing of treasure seekers. This enigmatic monolith, untouched by time, had concealed its mysteries with the unwavering vigilance of its protectors—a ruthless band of murderous robots.

But fate, as it so often does, had a peculiar way of rewriting history. The murderous automatons that once safeguarded the secret entrance to a forgotten world now lay scattered and defeated, their metallic bodies torn asunder, and their malevolent gears forever stilled. A daring group of adventurers had breached the walls of this forsaken desert, and their perseverance had yielded an invaluable revelation—the discovery of the colossal door itself.

The words of ancient texts, carefully preserved through generations, whispered of this accursed land. They hinted at the malevolent origin of the tainted sands, attributing the blight to a buried military installation, a relic from times when empires clashed in a desperate battle for supremacy. These texts spoke of peril and power, of treacherous magic and the secrets of a bygone era. They beckoned to those brave or foolhardy enough to heed their call, promising both knowledge and untold danger.

As the journey began, four adventurers found themselves standing before the colossal stone door, its imposing frame reaching up to touch the heavens. At its center, an engraving of an eye, ominous and sorrowful, gazed out from the massive stone, half-filled with the very sands that blanketed the surrounding wasteland. The eye, it seemed, wept eternally for the long-lost world behind the door, and perhaps for those who would dare to unlock its mysteries.

A sense of foreboding filled the air as the party contemplated their first task—unlocking the indestructible door. They knew that such a feat would not be accomplished through brute force, for the stone before them was as solid as the earth itself. As they gathered around the colossal portal, the ancient texts whispered to them, their cryptic verses hinting at the key to unraveling this enigma.

This was it, Iberis was partaking in a high stake missions in hopes of getting something worth while to further her aspirations in magic, as well as helping the other adventurers around here. These lands were ominous but somewhat exciting. Who knew what they'd encounter here? The door itself was pretty ominous. It felt that way even more so after It had been made abundantly clear this was going to be risky. At the very least Iberis wasn't a stranger when it came to risk or losing limbs, having already done so in the past with her attached undead grafted leg. Nevertheless she stood parallel from the ominous door facing it, however far away she was to start.

She then turned to those who she had met and said, "I'm going to try to gather some information on this door to see if it'll tell us anything useful about how we can get by it."

Hopefully there wasn't going to be some anti magic trap here that was going to go off if she tried, nevertheless Iberis used her staff and did a gesture, speaking some words, and her eyes appeared to light up a bit, before she casted an appraisal spell on the strange door leveraging her background knowledge as well to see what information she could get out of it and then convey it to the relevant parties.

As Amanda examined the door, she focused on its mechanisms and structure from a scientific perspective. She traced her sight along the eye's intricate engravings, examining the worn grooves and indentations. Her keen mind sought to understand the engineering and mechanics that lay behind the door's elaborate design.

She tapped her knuckles against the door frame before her, curious about how they functioned and siphoned the tear like sand stream so cleanly. It was clear that this door was more than a mere work of art; it was a complex machine, a key to unraveling the secrets concealed within. Amanda's analytical approach sought to decipher the purpose of each component and the means by which they might be activated.

Her fingers moved with precision as she assessed the door's mechanical aspects, all while her sharp mind raced to understand the purpose and functioning of this enigmatic portal. Amanda was determined to unlock its mysteries and claim the treasures and knowledge that lay beyond.

Rowan had assumed that there would be more of a fight, that the door would attack them or something, not stand there- menacingly. She had decided to go along to try to protect the others. They could do the complex engineering processes, and she could watch their backs. Thankfully, Amanda and Iberis seemed to have the investigation part down pat. Their clues, relayed to her, lead her to the conclusion that she should use her magic to cover the whole eyeball with a barrier, preventing sand from escaping through the door.

Rowan looked at the imposing door in front of them, assessing it to make sure she could actually do the request, and finding that yes, yes she could. She didn't need to get any closer, as she could cast from this far away, a feat she had worked hard to achieve.

She cast her magic at the door, letting it flow out of her in a powerful wave.
Barriers appeared around the eye, multiple different parts that all came together to form one giant barrier, some of the biggest and most complex magic she had casted in front of others to date. Manipulating the barriers, she tightened it around the eye, covering it completely in a purpley-pink barrier that covered the eye fully and as close to the eye as possible, as to not waste time, despite how far away it was. She surmised that it was best to not make a huge barrier, letting it spread more lengthwise and widthwise than have it have more than the needed amount of depth. It would hold for as long as they needed it to.

Hakumen_(Story_Mode_Artwork,_Normal).pngThe tall white armored form of Kurikara stood among the shifting sands and desolate ruins. Cutting a unique figure compared to the three women he towered over. He had been roped into an expedition to this place by the promise of ancient ruins and hidden power. The interests of human politics and ambitions meant nothing to him, but he was willing to play along for his own sake. Normally he wouldn't have been so easily swayed into something he considered not worth his time. But his situation had changed; the voice which had once occupied his mind and interjected at every perceived moment of weakness had fallen into a stubborn silence. Kurikara didn't know the reason or what it could prelude, but he felt the need to act before he was caught unaware. The voice had great power and withheld much of it from him. Whatever would cause its disappearance was something he should be wary of, so he did the only thing he could think of. Struggle to attain more.

"Do as you will Witch." Kurikara helmet regarded Iberis coolly, and without an ounce of kindness. Her appearance was not one he welcomed wary as he was. Her magical scan revealed both the composition of the door which blocked their entry and the foreboding eye above it. Not only that but also the sand that was channeled through it, a potential clue to why it barred their way. The other woman Amanda, who Kurikara had not taken the time to engage with underwent her own investigation yielding similar results it confirmed the nature of the mechanism. Now all they needed was a plan of action.

Deciding their best bet was to block off the channels that funneled the sand into the eye. The group relied on Rowans magic to do it. Kurikara was remiss to admit their wasn't much he could do to accomplish the task so he chose to assist her. Activating old mechanisms within himself he hadn't used in ages, as he only sought to increase his own power not others. He channeled his own magic into her a transferring of power unique to his functions as the Kurikara Armor. As Rowan channeled her barrier he placed a hand on her back and "pushed" his energy into her.

With the colossal stone door now ajar, the adventurers found themselves faced with a dark, descending tunnel that seemed to beckon them into its depths. Their torchlight revealed a passage shrouded in shadows, the stone walls carved with mysterious symbols and intricate, time-worn patterns.

As they moved forward, the eye above the door ceased its mournful weeping, the sands within it held in check by the barrier magic they had employed. The profound silence that followed was both eerie and exhilarating, for it signaled their mastery over the door's ancient mechanisms. It also seemed to hint at the weight of secrets and knowledge awaiting them below.

The descent into the depths of the tunnel was a journey into the heart of the past, a journey fueled by curiosity, daring, and a profound sense of purpose. With each step they took, the torchlight revealed more of the tunnel's secrets—the carvings on the walls told stories of forgotten battles, mystical incantations, and the rise and fall of empires.

The air grew cooler and more laden with history as they descended, and the very walls seemed to pulse with the memories of those who had walked these halls centuries ago. The further they ventured, the stronger the sense of purpose became—a realization that they were not merely chasing legends, but uncovering a piece of history long lost to the sands of time.

The tunnel descended into the unknown, its path curving and winding like the narrative of a forgotten epic. Each twist and turn revealed more of the enigmatic military installation they sought to explore. Their footsteps echoed through the underground chambers, as they moved past relics of a bygone era—ancient weaponry, dusty armor, and eerie remnants of a war that had shaped the fate of the world.

The adventurers' breaths quickened as they encountered chambers that held clues to the tainted lands' affliction, secret experiments and arcane machinery whose purposes had been lost to time. They discovered texts, carefully preserved in hidden alcoves, that hinted at forbidden magics and the consequences of tampering with the forces of nature.

As they ventured deeper into the installation, they could sense that the answers to their questions were close at hand. Yet, the air grew heavy with anticipation, and an inexplicable chill ran down their spines. For as they reached the heart of the installation, the chamber that had housed the source of the tainted lands' affliction, they were met with an eerie stillness.

Before them lay a massive chamber, the ceiling lost in darkness, and in its center, a looming structure unlike anything they had seen. It radiated an aura of power and malevolence, a focal point for the tainted magic that had cast its curse over the wastelands. The adventurers could sense that this was where their journey would reach its climax, where they would confront the very heart of the enigma they had pursued.

The source of the tainted lands' affliction was a colossal crystal, pulsating with an otherworldly energy. It emanated an unsettling, sapphire-hued glow that seemed to weep like the eye above the door had done. The adventurers realized that this chamber held the key not only to understanding the curse but perhaps to undoing it.

They knew that the challenges ahead were greater than any they had faced thus far, and the consequences of their actions would ripple through time and history. The adventurers, bound by their relentless determination and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, prepared to confront the malevolent force that had lain dormant beneath the sands for centuries.

Their torchlight flickered, casting dancing shadows across the chamber's walls. The descent into darkness had revealed secrets long buried, but it had also brought them face to face with the realization that their adventure was far from over.

As Amanda cautiously approached the pulsating crystal encased within the impenetrable barrier, her fingers grazed the translucent surface of the energy field. It was as if she could almost touch the heart of the mystery, yet her every attempt to breach the barrier proved futile. The energy field held firm, an impenetrable fortress of magic and technology.

Amanda's curiosity drove her to examine the barrier more closely, her fingertips tracing its intricate patterns. But as she touched the shimmering surface, a faint tremor ran through the chamber, and the colossal stone door slammed shut with a thunderous crash. Panic rippled through the group as they realized they were now sealed inside the chamber, cut off from the world beyond.

In the dim light of their torches, the adventurers turned their attention to a corner of the room where a panel had sprung to life. It glowed with an ominous, pulsating red light, casting eerie shadows on their faces. At the center of the panel, a digital countdown timer displayed ominous numbers—the numbers that signaled an impending catastrophe.

Two minutes.

Two minutes until the unknown doom that the chamber's architects had set into motion. Fear and urgency gripped the adventurers, their collective heartbeats echoing in the chamber, a frantic reminder of the relentless passage of time.

Desperation and determination mixed in their eyes as they fumbled to find a way to halt the countdown. With each passing second, the impending disaster drew nearer, casting a pall of uncertainty over their huddled group. The adventurers began to brainstorm, to think on their feet and try to decipher the cryptic symbols and controls that adorned the panel.

Amanda's eyes were drawn to the countdown timer as it relentlessly ticked down, casting an eerie, crimson glow in the dimly lit chamber. It was a stark contrast to the arcane symbols and patterns she had encountered earlier. The panel bore an uncanny resemblance to a piece of technology from her own world, like the intricate interface of a computer. It was as if the architects of this ancient place had fused the realms of magic and machinery in their designs.

With a sense of both nostalgia and urgency, Amanda leaned closer to examine the countdown timer. She observed the digital numbers with fascination, noticing the familiar decimal structure. This element of the chamber's design seemed like a bridge between her past life and the enigmatic world she now inhabited.

She touched the surface of the panel, her fingertips gliding over the controls. It felt both strange and familiar, a convergence of the arcane and the technological. Her mind raced, searching for any hint, any clue that would reveal the purpose of the countdown and how to halt it.

As Amanda's gaze shifted to the writing that adorned the panel, she realized that her excitement was tempered by the fact that she could not decipher the symbols. They were unlike any language or script she had encountered before. Her extensive knowledge and linguistic abilities were of little use here, for the writing defied her attempts to unravel its meaning.

Frustration welled within her, a reminder that she was an outsider in this world, faced with enigmas that transcended her understanding. Her inability to comprehend the symbols felt like a daunting barrier, a challenge she had yet to conquer.

Nonetheless, Amanda refused to yield to despair. She knew that every mystery had a solution, and every lock had a key. With a determined expression, she continued to manipulate the controls, working to defy the ominous countdown and unveil the secrets hidden within the chamber. As the seconds ticked away, she remained resolute, driven by her insatiable thirst for knowledge and a profound sense of purpose. That was when something struck here. Alongside the countdown timer, four options appeared in foreign text.

"Does anyone know how to decipher ancient texts? Though I can't make out the full picture it would seem there are four options on the screen to pick from. That's one in four! Which one should we pick... One of them has to stop the clock right!?" ([Insight C] + [Tinkerer C] + [Artificer C])
"Wait... No... This is a... that's so smart but very exploitable! Iberis, when the timer has a one in it's sequence you need to hit the barrier with a spell dead center got it. The timing and your aim has to be perfect! Got it!" That's right Amanda didn't need to understand the language to gain an insight into how the mechanism worked. This wasn't like her old word, she had powers here! Magic of her own!

Everything seemed to be going well, but then again, this was only the beginning of a highly dangerous mission. Though...she had thought there would be more fighting instead of just straight puzzles, but sometimes puzzles needed brute force to pull off.

Panic set in, as Amanda touched the barrier- a rookie mistake. Though, she would write it down, figure out what this barrier had in it so she could replicate it- but that would be later, if they lived through this encounter.

On instinct, Rowan threw up a barrier around herself and the members of the party, as things went south and the thing....exploded or something. Iberis and Amanda were their thinkers, and needed to be protected at all costs as they were figuring things out. If things went sideways, hopefully a barrier would be the difference between them dying and them escaping with their lives. If she lived, she could recover. At least the good things about her barriers were that they were so specialized that they wouldn't hamper anyone she put them on, unless she wanted them to.

Upon seeing the next part of their journey Iberis felt the anticipation building further looking to the neat inscriptions which she wished she had more time to study otherwise, since it was her goal to get considerably more powerful and this was an excellent opportunity presuming they could pull it off. She felt her stress build quite a bit, as at first she had been distracted by their environment but then the sound of them being locked in, sealed the deal for her that things just got serious. There was no turning back, and she couldn’t afford to die here, there was no way she wanted Kalina, Scylla, Hope, Cayde or Shion finding her body somewhere if she could avoid it. Who knew if she’d even be able to come back? Her limited understanding was it had to be intact enough to make it so as far as mortal limitations went at least..But no she wouldn’t let it come to that.

She’d refocus upon seeing the device and understanding what they had to do next. For all she knew once that timer ran out it’d react like some trap and explode or something. It was such a foreign concept, yet somehow in the back of her mind from her hidden isekai memories she felt like the machinery wasn’t as foreign as she initially thought.

She watched Amanda with discretion and great attention watching her work those strange controls it was a very intense scene. She then heard Amanda’s dynamic revelation of what they needed to do.

“Right! Got it!” Iberis proclaimed, upon hearing what she had to do, she reacted with swift reflexes standing within 5 ft of the device and informed insight by using:

Witchy Reflexes - Appraisal A, Acrobatics B, Academia E, Arcana E, Alchemy E
Iberis assesses situation up to 5 ft in front of her using her appraisal, academic, arcana and alchemy knowledge before reacting with quick reflexes. -Grade A cooldown 5

To quickly gain any additional information she needed before she timed her next move so that a 1 would appear in the next spot with Acrobatics B, and carry out what Amanda told her to do at the right time presumably.

Her nerves were only somewhat addressed by Rowan throwing some barriers up for the assist so that if they were unsuccessful whatever went off wouldn’t kill them at that the very least she hoped with that, having faith in Rowan as another magic caster.

In the critical moment when disaster loomed over the party, Amanda's quick thinking directed their actions. With her guidance, Iberis stepped forward, determination etched across her face. The power of their combined will surged through her as she raised her weapon and aimed with unwavering precision, striking the barrier's center at Amanda's command.

Rowan, ever the pillar of calm and support, extended her barrier magic to envelop Iberis and the others, shielding her from the overwhelming tension of the situation. It was an act that not only protected her but also steadied her nerves. The three adventurers acted as one, their connection stronger than any obstacle they faced.

Iberis' strike met the barrier head-on, and there was a resounding clash of lights. It was as if the very forces of destiny were in contention, with time itself hanging in the balance. For a breathless moment, the room remained in suspense, then it was as though a dormant world awakened.

Artificial lights flickered to life, illuminating the chamber, and the countdown vanished. In its place, a message began to scroll, its language shifting until it became somewhat comprehensible to the group:

"Error, Countdown interrupted, interference detected. Running Security Sweep, power online."

The adventurers quickly grasped the gravity of the situation. The side door, previously sealed shut, began to slide open with a heavy, grinding noise. Emerging from the newly revealed passage, a menacing robot stood poised, its mechanical form designed for a single purpose—extermination.

"Abnormality detected, initiating extermination mode!" the robot's mechanical voice declared, its eyeless face devoid of mercy.

The robot's arm crackled with a volatile, electrified energy channeled from the disrupted barrier. It pointed its arm toward Kurikawa, and with chilling efficiency, it announced its intent, "Executing discharge."

In an instant, a searing beam of lightning erupted from the robot's arm, moving with a velocity that left little room for evasion by normal means. It was a deadly strike, a testament to the ruthless precision of the mechanical menace.

But in the face of impending doom, the adventurers' bond remained unbroken. Rowan's barrier, absorbed the electrifying blow. The energy danced across the magical shield, casting eerie, shifting shadows in the chamber.

The force of the discharge pushed Kurikawa back, his muscles strained as she resisted the overwhelming power. Yet, their combined efforts held, and they stood resilient against the robotic threat. The atmosphere crackled with tension as the parties locked in a standstill, a testament to their unyielding resolve and determination to confront whatever challenges lay ahead in the depths of this enigmatic installation.

Rowan let out a sigh of relief as they managed to interrupt the frankly extremely concerning countdown- until it mentioned a security sweep- which revealed itself in the form of a mechanical monster that seemed to be this place's security. She muttered a curse, her mind racing, trying to decide on the best option for what to do in this scenario- attack or continue to defend the group.

This mechanical menace needed to be stopped- it didn't seem to have a consciousness to manipulate, bargain, or negotiate with, which meant going at it with the intent to destroy it, like the other mechanical machines that had been torn apart. The others already had barriers on themselves, which meant it was time to attack- to use her magic to attack others- with intent to kill. She was usually the one who watched people's backs- the one who allowed others to do their work, but attacking was much more important here than defending.

Rowan formed her magic into a simple weapon, a puplish-pink club-shape, sending it out to smash the robot in the face, hoping to knock its head off it's body, and if not, at least take it off it's feet so someone else could finish the job. If Amanda, Iberis, and Kurikawa all worked together with her, they stood a chance.

While glad they essentially just barely passed the next challenge, Iberis didn't really have the means to protect or heal Kuriawa from how he was struck, but then there were even more pressing matters at the moment as some kind of what Iberis could only assume was a highly advanced looking construct descended upon them. Whatever this alert was put her on alert herself making it abundantly clear that she and the others were in quite a bit of danger. If the intimdation level of this foe said anything truthful.

She saw Rowan attack and knew that she ought to do the same now and attack this new deadly obstacle which was from what she could tell, fully intent on trying to destroy them for trespassing where they weren't wanted. That was the gist of what she understood of the alert at least. For now she decided the only course of action she really had was to use her ability to bend magical energy into a destructive force through her understanding of the Arcane. She would immediately begin doing gestures with her staff. "Engaging, don't get caught in the cross fire!" She announced to those allies with her who she was standing with against this powerful new age force unlike anything she ahd witnessed even in Widersia, this was truly technology which the time she was familiar with.

Iberis cast an Energy Bolt by moving her staff in a circular pattern with her staff, red magic symbols made of the same red energy swirling around her staff , first the red bolt of arcane energy going flying at the machine, She then pivoted into a bit of a stronger ability Energy Stream, She did a zig zag motion with her staff, a larger series of red symbol appearing after the others dissipated , firing off a stronger arcane stream of the energy, and Finally it was time fo the next move, a stronger one where she channeled more of the energy into her staff doing two aggressive parallel zig zag patterns to create an even larger spark sending forth a Greater Energy Stream toward the machine, feeling the heat from all her casting now.

Amanda's senses heightened as she recognized the dire threat that the robotic adversary posed. Rowan's shield had barely withstood the first assault, and she couldn't afford to let the mechanical menace strike again. The safety of their lives depended on swift and decisive action.

With a fluid motion, Amanda slung her rifle, which she had affectionately named 'Judgment,' off her shoulder. This was the first time she would employ it in a live combat situation, and she knew there was no room for hesitation. It was a prototype, a work in progress, but it was her most potent weapon.

Crouching down, she took careful aim at the mechanical assailant. The runes etched along the rifle's barrel, pulsating with hidden power, responded to her touch. In a dazzling flash, she unleashed a potent blast of energy toward the center mass of the robotic adversary. The force of her shot was fierce and unforgiving, surging through the air with a vibrant burst of energy.

In the seconds that followed, Amanda rapidly fired two more shots, each leaving her rifle with a brilliant flash and deafening report. The chamber trembled with the echoes of her attacks, but the construct remained poised, waiting for the moment of impact.

The first volley had been unleashed, and the chamber was bathed in a harsh, pulsating light, but the robotic adversary still had a chance to react. The adventurers braced themselves for the explosive outcome as the party's powerful attacks sped toward their target.

21 Effectiveness + Incapacitate C (Rowan) + Penetrating C (Amanda) vs ? = Armour Brake + 2 Direct Damage to Construct

The chamber was ablaze with the combined might of the adventurers as their abilities converged upon the menacing mechanical adversary. Amanda's powerful rifle shots, Iberis' arcane beams, and Rowan's magical bat all contributed to a relentless onslaught, and the construct found itself battered from all sides.

Iberis's final blast, a powerful red beam with an eerie crimson hue, tore through the air like a vengeful force of nature. With the combined strength of her companions, the blast was more potent than anything the construct had yet encountered. It collided with the robot's outer armor, and the chamber reverberated with the sheer force of the impact.

The beam, a testament to Iberis's newfound might, cut through the mechanical adversary's chest, carving a hole right through its armored core. The destructive energy emerged from the robot's rear, leaving a gaping, smoking wound in its wake. Had this been a human or any other natural being, the battle would surely have come to a swift and decisive end. However, the construct was far from defeated.

With a determined tenacity, the mechanical adversary raised its arm, now battered and visibly weakened, and unleashed a volley of two energy beams. The first was directed towards Iberis, who had earned the construct's highest threat assessment. It surged towards her with a blazing intensity, a testament to the construct's relentless will.

The second beam was directed at Kurikawa, the adventurer who seemed, at that moment, least ready to defend. The chamber descended into chaos as the beams crackled and surged, each threatening to find its mark. The adventurers' survival hinged on their swift reactions and their ability to protect one another in the face of an unyielding foe.

They had thrown all of their energy at this construct, but it was still standing- but at least they were still standing, mostly alright. They had the chance to fight more against the construct, if the others could attack it.

Rowan saw the beams coming towards Kurikawa and Iberis, so she acted- in the way she knew best. She casted quickly, wrapping the four of them in protective barriers- the first a more powerful barrier wrapped around the four of them, followed by two basic ones, wrapped on top of each other, to hopefully tank as much of the damage from Iberis as she could, as she recognized the other girl from their time at Ryken Academy.

Amanda's keen instincts and unwavering determination shone brightly as she seized the opportunity presented by the construct's unleashed volley of energy beams. With the two lethal shots hurtling towards her comrades, she knew that a swift counterattack was their only hope of salvation.

In a dazzling display of marksmanship, Amanda rapidly fired three more shots from 'Judgment,' her powerful rifle. The chamber reverberated with the deafening thunder of her shots, and her precision remained unwavering.

The first shot streaked toward the construct, the second right behind it, and the third followed suit. The explosive power of her shots matched the intensity of her purpose, and they hurtled toward the mechanical adversary with a relentless fury. The combined might of the adventurers was about to be unleashed upon their relentless foe once more, and the outcome hung in the balance.

Unfortunately for the group, as much attacking as they had done, it wasn't enough to fell the powerful construct foe. Iberis was a bit concerned at this point as to what was to happen. She only had so many ways she could attack it, and she had already been using quite a bit of mana in such a short period of time in which she would need to recooperate before doing more serious casting again but didn't really have the means to do so right now. With a look of determination on her face she would cast whatever she needed too.

It looked like she was going to have to risk getting hit by the beam in order to deliver the finishing blows they needed to take the construct down. First she tried to react quickly with Lesser Witchy Reflexes in order to have the best chance of hitting it where she wanted too, She did the same gesture quickly from before firing off another Energy Bolt. Rapid fire casting at the moment on the spot.

She then pivoted her staff movements causing crackles of energy leaving her staff and with some dramatic gestures she fired off a powerful beam of arcane energy, aiming at the next most vital looking spot since the construct had a legit hole in it at the moment. Trying to hit it with an Energy Wave of red spewing forth from it.

This was the most intense looking projectile of energy she had generated yet. Hopefully it would be just enough to defeat their opponent so that they could live another day.

As the energy beams fired by the robotic adversary rebounded off Rowan's protective barriers, it was evident that the strain had taken a toll on her spell catalyst. Her magical shield had held firm, safeguarding Iberis and Kurikawa from the imminent threat. But the price of their protection was apparent in the flickering instability of Rowan's magical defenses.

In the midst of this intense exchange, Amanda and Iberis's relentless attacks finally bore fruit. Their combined efforts pierced the construct, and 'Energy wave' and the accompanying bullets/beams found their mark, unleashing destructive force that melted the robot from within. The robotic adversary fell to the ground, defeated, its once menacing form reduced to a smoldering wreckage.

However, their triumph was short-lived as the chamber's lights abruptly turned red, and a series of urgent warnings flashed across the computer screen:

"Guardian unresponsive, initiating emergency protocol."

"Core barriers retracted, Initiating overload. Core will reach Critical Mass in t minus 60 seconds. Control rod ejected."

The core of the room was revealed, a dense sphere of matter surrounded by protective plating. A small hole marked the spot where the control rod had been ejected, a minuscule target that now beckoned as the solution to their predicament.

The control rod, having fallen to the ground with a thud, seemed insignificant in the face of the impending crisis. The room began to flood with mana as the core spiraled out of control, the magic energy swirling and surging uncontrollably. The adventurers faced a perilous countdown, with a mere sixty seconds before the core reached critical mass, unleashing devastation that threatened to consume them all.

Their eyes met, a silent understanding passing between them. Their journey had brought them to this pivotal moment, and their survival depended on their ability to act swiftly and decisively. The chamber was filled with urgency and tension as they prepared to make a desperate last stand against the impending disaster.

Amanda, undaunted by the impending crisis, quickly turned to the computer terminal. With a determined focus, she retrieved her tools and opened the panel beside the terminal, delving into the internal circuitry. Her hands moved with precision and purpose as she sought to override the sequence and halt the impending overload. [10,000 Hours? Rookie Numbers! B]

As she worked, Amanda's skill and knowledge of technology became evident. The chamber's lights bathed her in an eerie crimson glow as she accessed the control systems and initiated the process of decoding the sequence. Her eyes flicked across the rapidly changing data on the screen, and her fingers danced over the keys with lightning speed. [10,000 Hours? Rookie Numbers! C]

With the urgency of the situation pressing down on her, Amanda realized that she couldn't manage the entire process alone. She turned to her companions, her voice steady but filled with the gravity of the situation. "I've accessed the control systems, but we need someone to reinsert the control rod while I lock it in place using the computer. We have to act fast, or the core will reach critical mass. Every second counts!" [10,000 Hours? Rookie Numbers! E]

The fate of the adventurers and the chamber itself hung in the balance, and they were now entrusted with a race against time, where teamwork and precision would be their only allies.

What Iberis hadn't been anticipating was the type of mana leak which was reaching levels threatening enough to demonize life. She watched intensely at what Amanda did. Never did Iberis really think she'd be here with these people, the strange construct like being, Rowan who she knew from the entrance exams to an extent, and then Amanda, someone who she had recently become more familiar with. It was pretty apparent the stakes were incredibly high and Iberis needed to act now. She had the skill set needed to make sure that essential rod got back in place from her understanding from what Amanda was saying. If they didn't get it in just right it could quite literally kill them all. Yeah no pressure what so ever here, not at all, failing might just kill everyone.

Iberis made her way over as quickly as possible, "I'll put it back in!" She exclaimed to the group

She used her enhanced abilities to lift the rod and react appropriately to leverage the precision necessary to have the best chance of getting the rod back to where it belonged. For extra effect Iberis used a delicate magical discharge to give it some more oomph to increase the rod's chances of staying where it needed too, not wanting to damage the rod, so she was extra careful. It was all very precise and hopefully her focus skill would come in clutch to help drive out the arguably stressful environment which she was operating under.

Actions:
1.Iberis moves as many ft needed with Acrobatics F.
2. Iberis lifts and inserts rod with Deez Reflexes - Appraisal D, Acrobatics D, Academia E, Arcana E, Alchemy E, Focus E
Iberis assesses situation up to 5 ft in front of her using her appraisal, academic, arcana and alchemy knowledge before reacting with quick reflexes. -Grade D cooldown 2 (not energized)
3. She then moves her staff in a swift gesture pushing forward a small pulse of red arcane energy gently with ability
Arcane Precision - Magic E, Arcane Affinity F, Acrobatics E, Energized E, Selective E, Focus E, Magic Targeting F, Magic Range F - Grade E Cooldown 0 (Energrized)
Iberis generates a precise amount of arcane energy to interact with up to five targets up to 30 ft away with the intent to interact with rather than damage. Ideal for delicate situations benefiting from precise magical interactions.

toward the end of the rod to help it along so that it definitely stays in the hole and on the correct path toward it.

Rowan would see the construct start to countdown- feeling the mana leak into the room- a sure sign that shit was going to go down, unless the three of them did something to stop this. Which was entirely their fault for messing with it in the first place- they had to clean up their mess.

Iberis reacted, going towards the rod- which immediately caught her attention. IT clicked in her mind, what Iberis was trying to do, based off of Amanda's words. So she would do her best to help Iberis-first, casting a barrier around the hole itself- making it thin, long, slanted upwards and cylindrical, as a way for Iberis to guide the rod in using the barrier as a brace so she could use it as leverage to get the rod in easier.
She would then cast another barrier, pressing it on the rod itself along with Iberis's magic, making it tight and cubed like a screw to help hold it in place while Amanda locked it in.

Hakumen_(Story_Mode_Artwork,_Normal).pngThe mechanical monstrosity finally fell to the damage it sustained. With combat finally ended with their victory the tension began to ease, but it could not last as the fallen sentinel of a bygone age unleashed its final ploy. The room was suffused in a red glow, the tell tale sign of alarms which conveyed danger. A sphere revealed itself in the center of the room and no sooner had it did it began to leak mana at an exorbitant rate. Even with his limited knowledge Kurikara was familiar with the idea of such a device going critical. He didn't doubt for a moment that if they didn't act the result would not only kill them but unleash a disaster which would scar the land forever. It was a tragedy they couldn't allow. The countdown continued like a death knell confirming the stakes they were working to avert.

As they sprung into action Kurikara was admittedly at a loss on what to do, such systems and how to handle them was beyond his capabilities. Fortunately Amanda showed he value once again popping open the control panel and going to work on the systems within. As she shouted a command which could be the only thing separating them and imminent destruction Kurikara along with the others followed the woman orders. Using their magic Rown and Iberis lifted and braced the Control Rod ensuring precision which could not err. While Kurikara could only play to his strengths, quite literally. When the rod was firmly prepared to return to its place the armored warrior pushed against it. Aiding the Witch Iberis in placing it back into the protective plating surrounding the sphere[Sealed Power].

However Kurikara couldn't be sure if it would work, or whether the Core would become more destructive as volatile mana began to circulate before the countdown ended. So he made a potentially dangerous choice. At the moment he wasn't much of a magic user but there was something he could do even if it was the smallest of chances. Concentrating he activated what magical control systems he could centering the gathering power in his hand. If the magic was leaking out at an uncontrollable rate then Kurikara would simply provide direction for the mana in the air. Taking some of the unstable energy and bringing it under some measure of control. He used his power to draw upon the mana in the air, but rather than use it for attack like he would normally he merely used his own body as a container and bleed off system for the mana[Rikudō Hi: Six Realms-Fire].

  • Sealed Power - Superstrength F, Athletics F, - Kurikara centers the strength contained within his frame and acts with as much output as he can muster. - Grade F - 0 Post Cooldown
  • Rikudō Hi: Six Realms-Fire - Magic E, Componentless Magic E, [Energy] Affinity F - Kurikara draws upon magical energy concentrating the energy within himself -Grade E - 1 Post Cooldown

Nifty trial run of the tribulation in party mode. A valiant effort. Some posted a late a few too many times. Any other world rp and that would have been more costly. Ultimately, the tribulation was unsuccessful. While most of the checks were accomplished, only 1 check was actually finished with precision based abilities. The rest were a hodgepodge of failed attempts and late posts causing missed opportunities. What this means is that no S stats will be handed out today, but the benefits of a world rp will still be granted.

Aftermath
The party successfully deactivated the countdown. No one blew up. However, the ruin's secrets remained its own. The party was forced to retreat with little to show for it.
