Name:

Lhoren Araqen

Actual age: 83

Psychical age: 25

Race:

Elf

Sex:

Female

Rank:

6

Stats:

300 Phys/300 Magic

Affiliations:

Diamond

Personality:

Lhoren has mellowed out in her old (by human standards) age and is now a little behind the times, though fascinated with childlike wonder over the advancements in machinery and warfare. Though she has grown compassionate in her time on earth, she still possesses the spirit of the rebel. The fire in her chest may had waned since her youth, but it is still very much lit. If she so much as hears a word said against elves in her presence, it will probably start a fistfight. Lhoren's longer lifespan affects her behaviour. If you're a good person, her patience knows almost no limits. She has all the time in the world for you.

Backstory:

Lhoren grew up on the outskirts of a rural town in the land of Diamonds, close to the border with Hearts. It was a town , like many in the Four Kingdoms, that used to belong to Elves. Her family had somehow been able to not get kicked out, or were kicked out and came back (it’s hard to tell who was telling the truth) but had lived on the edge of town for generations.

Her parents were kind healers, though very strict and rigid in adhering to Elven traditions. Her older siblings (some by almost a hundred years) followed suit and had no further aspirations. They led a simple, humble life, and taught Lhoren to hunt, and to make medicines with a cauldron, from an early age. They instilled in Lhoren a pride in her heritage, and told her many stories of the old ways. But Lhoren was a fiery child, and not content to keep to herself and shut out the world. Other elves in the slums suffered, and her kind were treated with scorn, disrespect and sometimes outright hostility. The humans were the invaders. They took this land, and they defile it with their barbaric ways. Elves didn’t deserve to be the second-class citizens. Humans did.

Lhoren made the choice to leave home when she came of age. She travelled the land with no home kept for longer than a month, and in this time began to study the forbidden magic; Dysidia. She cast aside her healer upbringing. Her family could heal an individual, but to heal this land itself, to heal the Elven race, stronger remedies were needed. She devoted years to the study if Sickness magic. Humans were a plague. It was time for them to get a taste of their own medicine.

For decades, she travelled the land with evil and hate in her heart, destroying whole fields of crops, and killing the vulnerable. What she was doing was terrorism, and she knew it. She embraced it.

Seventy is old for a human, but very young for an elf. Still, Lhoren had seen much of the land, and had grown wiser. The flame of hatred in her heart had been tempered by time. She was mature enough to stop her directionless vengeance and start trying to make a positive difference to the lives of all Elves in the Four Lands, but she didn’t know how.

When the war started, Lhoren baulked at the thought of being invaded by more humans who were even more human than the humans who already lived here, so returned home to Diamonds and fought in the war as an Archer. When it was over, she felt a deeper respect for humanity. She hated them as a collective on principle, but many of them were good, noble and honourable souls.

Abilities:

Sickness: The first application of Lhoren’s Dysidia magic is to corrupt the souls of people, leading to sickness and possibly death. Though it’s not much good in combat as it takes time for people to die from it, it is a slow, horribly way to die if untreated, that takes days.

-Lethargy: By using stronger and more volatile magic, the spell does not last long enough to be a threat to anyone’s life (hours at most) but is much more useful in immediate combat as a spell that induces the feeling of being ill; the lethargy an the aching, making it a useful spell in a pinch.

-Wilt: Lhoren can also corrupt the bodies of very small and simple lifeforms suck as plants and insects, and possibly also birds and fish, allowing her to kill them. It has less effect on more complex animals like mammals, large trees, or humans. If used on a human it will affect the targeted extremities only and will spread slowly with an effect akin to frostbite.

Forest Sense: Lhoren also learned support magic that enhances her senses and perception of the world around her. This does not enhance her reflexes or her physical skills but it is very useful for both hunting and combat, as well as eavesdropping or looking for a lost vial.

Skills:

Bow – Lhoren’s trained with a bow for most of her life and is a seasoned hunter and a very good shot. She’s not as practiced at firing very quickly and was thus a merely adequate Archer when she fought in the war.

Alchemy – Lhoren hasn’t been formally trained in Alchemy as the rest of the world knows it, but was taught by her parents the old elvish lore of crafting medicines and salves. These teachings also allow her some degree of healing herself and others, as she cannot use magic for that.

Gear:

-Ash Longbow and Quiver. Quiver is filled with whatever arrows she’s able to buy cheap

-Hunting knife. An unremarkable short knife, sharp on one side. Used for finishing off wounded game, or occasionally unsuspecting guards. Of little use in melee combat.

-Vials. Sometimes they might contain medicine or salve. Sometimes she’s just carrying spares in her pouch.

Name:
Francois Rychiyn

Titles: "Professor", "The Weaver", "Viscount", "Major"

Age: 52

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Personality: A respectable gentleman, an earnest teacher, a nobleman of some renown, and a veteran who served his country well. These are how most people would describe Francois, and they are all valid descriptors of this man. Yet deeper still, under his dignified appearance is a man who revels in chaos and villainous deeds. He is a fairly charismatic individual enough so that most would not guess at his true intentions. He would smile and act most polite such that none would question his character as he robs you blind or sinks a knife into your back. He is an amoral man but not inhuman. He enjoys philosophy and science, and in fact is a professor at an Argossian university. Francois analytical nature as both a philosopher and mathematician has led him to the conclusion that chaos is "good". He is a miscreant who one must be careful around and never truly trust. There are those however who may pass him by unbothered by his machinations. Children and those who can be doted upon he has a soft spot for; appearing as a pleasant grandfather. While he is someone who has never cared for anyone in his life, Francois still harbors a spark of hope for a family. Though his love of evil would most likely not allow such a thing to pass. A person he particular likes will soon find themselves a part of his criminal activities as he whispers evil and leads them into it.

Despite his status as an Argossian nobleman and his involvement with the Imperial Legion he has little to no loyalty to his nation as any feeling of patriotism would get in the way of his plans. He does take pride in technological and scientific achievement however as it is quite useful to his schemes and livelihood. His attitude toward magic is similar to other Argossians. As a nobleman with sufficient contacts he has more knowledge on magic than the average citizen, but it is still something he is wary of. He has prepared plans against magical interference, but he does not venture too far into magic itself.

Backstory: Francois came from the proverbial "bottom of the barrel" of Argossya. One of the many abandoned children in the lower class; the child of a prostitute and a unknown patron. Despite his impoverished lifestyle Francois led a rather average and emotionally fulfilling childhood. He had a large family in the presence of the other orphans and parental figures in the adults who took care of them. It was a far cry from the upper class and had more than its fair share of dangers, but was more than sufficient for an impoverished child. Francois however, had an ambition which far outgrew his meager lifestyle. He was unsatisfied with the state of his life and desired more than what he had, so he did all he could to have as much as possible. He stole, fought and lied to the best of his ability until he could one day escape this life. Francois even then could be called a psychopath, he had little to no empathy for his peers and his sense of morality was warped. He took advantage of others and even led his own gang. While it was fun for him he was far from stupid, as he grew older he knew his current arrangement would not be enough to achieve his goals. He wracked his brain for a swift and feasible idea until he chanced upon an Imperial Legion Veteran. The man had been doing work helping poverty stricken people in Francois neighborhood. A chance conversation with the man revealed an opportunity he had not once considered.

An Imperial recruiter soon found an eager Francois offering himself for enlistment into the Legion. It wasn't too long before after a series of screenings health and mental he was placed into basic training. His amoral nature was noted by his superiors but accepted as a potential boon for the Legion despite any apparent risk. During training he was known for his leadership capabilities and above average marksmanship. After training he spent his active duty moving from base to base with the 1st Infantry Division moving to whatever engagement required them. His time in the 28th Regiment was a fairly quiet one all things considered despite his presence in multiple conflicts and skirmishes he was fortunate enough to enlist in a relatively peaceful time in Argossian history. As the Crusades would not start back up until 992 about 30 years later. Francois eventually proved himself well enough to warrant recruitment into the Imperial Rangers, leading to his promotion to Sergeant to make better use of his leadership capabilities. In order to stay on the course he desired for a better life Francois, using benefits received from his time in the Imperial Legion enrolled into a Military Service Academy. He had finally found the way in which he could escape his lesser life into a far grander one, education. His time spent at the academy was the point in which many of the things that make up Francois Rychiyn developed into what they are now.

Age:
actual age: 400

physical age: 30

Race:
Elf

Sex:
Male/ he is more feminine in nature and physique so can be often mistaken for either gender.

Kayos is probably the most vain person one could ever meet. His vanity knows no bounds, and he spares no expense for lavish living and anything he deems beautiful in his eyes, whether it be shiny objects or people. The elf often can be caught indulging himself into what many would consider questionable morals, given his lack of emotion and empathy towards his prey. He indulges in his amusements that consists of toying and manipulating those he sees as less than including his slave. His speech pattern often consists of riddles and open ended questions that make it hard to pin point his exact motives, and beliefs, as well as political stand point. While he seems a bit off and slightly unstable the elf is quite observant and though he talks like he's a fool, he is very perceptive to what is going on around him.

Kayos is patient and slow to anger especially when he indulges himself in a game of wits to usually an unwilling and more or less unknowing victim. However, there are a few things that can set him off into a fit of rage often left to his slave to calm him down. The mispronunciation of his name, people who are oblivious to personal space, and anyone who shows any form of adoration and/or attention to his slave. This rage can be quiet or also loud enough to make a scene depending on his mood and the offense.

Kayos Amadil still kept his family name even though they practically disowned him. He figured he should keep the name, and that his family weren't worthy of being called an Amadil. The elf truly didn't understand what their problem was, and didn't find anything wrong using small animals to practice his healing magic by cutting them open over and over at a time. So he used his sister one time, and they decided it was a bad enough of offense to disown him, okay... so it was more than once, but what did they know? Kayos needed to learn and study and he was a hands on learner so to speak. How else was one supposed to learn their craft, if not to practice, and he couldn't mar his beautiful skin to practice on himself. Elves had lesser education after all and were a bit on the poor side looked at as less than. It boggled his mine to think that other species thought they were less than, well maybe other elves, but certainly not him. Vanity ran deep in the elf since he was young and he didn't get along with most of the elves in Odin.

Determined to live the luxurious life he envied the elf began to dive into other magic that would gain him more money. While doing so plant magic caught his interest and his dreams seemed to fall by the wayside as he studied plants. He moved to Brigok where he grew his own plants and took up a craft in manipulating the grown vines into various jewelry to sell and save up money to eventually move to Marin in Diamonds. It had seemed to be a fleeting dream even as the elf learned the art of his craft. While he was growing older, and perhaps the wiser, he was still a hands on learner so off to Noah's Park and the marshes he went to perfect his spell craft.

That was when he found a rather mischievous and curious members of the fae. Nomads living in hiding easily bribed by sweets he saved up for. They were resilient enough to help him perfect his spellcraft to where it needed to be. Although greed and vanity got the better of him as he realized that fae parts were quite valuable and what better way to market and raise the value than to implement fae parts into jewelry. Eyes casted in resin shaped like diamonds carefully set in various adornments, keeping his favorite for himself, including the very fairy he tricked. The last thing the poor fairy ever saw was her friends being ripped apart alive bit by bit, before he gouged out her own eyes and tore off her wings. She didn't have a choice but to stay with him and while it took some time she eventually learned her place and helped him begin his trade.

The fae jewelry was a success and it landed him in the city of Regn in Diamonds for awhile that was until the war. He fought in the war not for moral or even to really help but to hone his skills and prove his worth to himself and to the name Elven name Amadil. After the war he ended up returning to Clubs and in the city of Erylon where the past 5 years he has once again set up a shop selling trophies of various kinds. The fae jewelry being his specialty it was also his rarity, thus began his pursuit and various beast hunting to sell and continue in indulging in as lavish living as he could not being of nobility, but he was certainly more well off than his family ever was.

Healing
- Can mend the flesh together to stop bleeding. If it's internal bleeding the flesh would first have to be cut open in order to get in direct contact with the problem area to heal it.
  • sub-spell- a rejuvenation buff that detects injury and is able to heal the wound over time. Lasts up to 2 hours.
Plant Magic- Vines: as long as soil is reachable vines can be made to sprout up and entangle its prey, this can vary with thorns or without. This also includes the soil he carries with him that can be thrown at his prey upon contact vines would entrap (much like a net). This can only be done within a 6ft radius.
  • Sub-Spell: Vine rune trap- places a rune on a location if stepped on it triggers the spell and will enclose a cage of thorns around the prey.
  • Sub-Spell: Paralytic Thorns- Yellow thorns emerges from the vines and once contact to skin is made it releases a toxin that paralyzes the prey rendering them immobile. Can have long lasting side effects of loss feeling in the area affected areas.

Gear:
His mask: it just looks cool, get over it.
He wears long necklaces that have bottles of soil that he carries with him as a just in case. You never know when "self defense" is needed and it would be bad manners to break the road apart to use his abilities.

minus the wings and eyes (yes you read that right she doesn't have eyes) In place of her eyes is a beautiful green vined mask that forms a celtic knot over her empty eye sockets where thorns latch onto the inside of the hole making it extremely painful if she were to attempt to take it off.

Born of the fae she is able to take on a taller form of 4ft tall. She remains in this form since her wings were torn off. She is more of a pet than a slave. Due to her small psychosis abilities Kayos has been falling into madness slowly over time, but refuses to let go of his rare treasure.

Backstory:
Atlas is of the Ocean, quite literally as he boasts a half nymph background that has left him grateful he can pass as human. Much of his young life was spent living with his mother along the coast of the Island of Kael, often spending stretches of days underwater with few other beings within his age group. A paradise and interesting place to grow up, there was an impressive amount of local traffic but the nereids never comingled with the travelers. Only once he started spending more time with his father, due to his mother no longer being interested in being glued to one spot in the ocean, did Atlas receive a rude awakening to human culture. A society built on a caste system and divided kingdoms would also provide no welcome to a half-human, Atlas learned on his third day on the mainland that he should never admit his parentage if he wished to be left alone.
Moving from Kael to Sheefune was a rough adjustment in more ways than Atlas would care to admit, though he was able to wrangle a job with the dwarves, working incredibly long hours in exchange for lessons in electromagnetics, a grueling six years of study and work would at least leave him with a fairly good understanding of his vision and light manipulation. A fairly strict series of next steps had been provided by his tutor before he was finally able to strike out on his own and seek out some way to start making decent coin.

Ship work would come naturally as anything that kept him around the ocean added a layer of comfort, not to mention he wasn't likely to drown if the ship ran into any trouble. A low risk life of sailing would take up--WIP

Name:

Helena Beaumont

Age:

29

Race:

Human

Sex:

Female

Rank:

Queen of Spades

Stats:

100 Phys/900 Magic

Affiliations:

Spades

Personality:

In stark contrast to the previous Queen, Helena's outward impression is of a kind, benevolent, delicate doll of a woman, almost girlish in their naive and quiet charm. She will always speak in a soft and quiet voice, with a slight smile on her lips and warm, amiable eyes. But anybody taking her for a fool would be mistaken. She is a deceptively shrewd, calculating, opportunistic woman capable of making hard choices that could potentially result in mass bloodshed. At the end of the day, her interests will always lie in keeping her kingdom strong, its borders stable and the lives of the citizens comfortable and peaceful. She is a firm believer in compromise and will always avoid pulling rank unless she has to. She sees herself as much a servant of her country as an authority.

Backstory:

Helena was born a sickly child, to a powerful family of Spades nobles. She would constantly be suffering from illnesses or maladies, and even brief bouts of hearty exercise would leave her frail body bedridden for the rest of the day, at least. Her parents pushed and encouraged her to study magic, beginning with basic telekinesis, in the hopes that she would move on and find something more unique and powerful to focus on. Instead, Helena loved the changes that Telekinesis brought to her life. She had a natural gift for magic, and was soon very adept. She loved the feeling of being strong for once in her life. She could lift the bookcase with ease. She could fight with seven swords at once, so that even her lack of form or training was no issue when it came to winning sparring matches with other nobles.

She grew older, and as she did, she grew more powerful. Telekinesis, in her hands, was clearly no basic beginner's magic, but something truly formidable and sometimes scary. Once she came of age, she became a Noble in her own right, and moved into her own house in the Spades capital. Her parents pressed her to marry, but she refused all their suitors, insisting that one day she would marry on her own terms, and marry for love.

The war with the invading Argossians came, and Helena played her role, rallying up her share of soldiers and sending them off to battle, while she stayed in relative safety. Her servants were adamant that a battlefield was no place for a woman of her physical condition. And Helena agreed. She was not overly fond of war, but this one was for the fate of all their countries.

In the five years following, rumours began to circulate that Mortemiah, the Queen of Spades, wished to resign for the second time in her long tenure. Helena had never realistically believed that she could become Queen. She had thought about challenging the Queen several times, but if the two were to seriously fight to the death, Helena's frail body would be no match for the Queen's centuries of assassin training and combat experience. However, if the Queen's heart wasn't in fighting to keep her crown, maybe she would concede instead of risking any lasting harm to herself.

That night, Helena cornered the Queen as she was strolling through the Palace gardens, and confronted her about the legitimacy of the rumors. Hearing they were true, Helena formally challenged her before she could publicly vacate the crown. They fought, but between Helena's formidable magic able to keep the Queen at bay and prevent physical contact, and, as theorised, Mortemiah's resolve not being strong enough to risk injury, the old Queen conceded. And thus, Helena Beaumont was crowned the Queen of Spades shortly afterwards.

Abilities:

Telekinesis: Helena's magic is very basic in nature, but through study and practice she has become very adept at affecting objects with the power of magic. She can stop people in their tracks, lift incredibly heavy loads, and move things around at great speeds.

-Pressure: One application of this is she can inflict incredible pressure upon the entire surface area of an object, capable of crushing all but the strongest of materials (or people) with ease.

-Aegis: By 'pushing out' at an area of empty space, Helena can reinforce it, essentially creating strong forcefields that can protect her or her allies. The strength of the forcefield depends on how hard she pushes back against an attack.

-Self-Levitation: By picking up and moving her own body with Telekinesis, Helena can not just levitate, but effectively fly. She can maintain flight for half an hour at most, and cannot fly too fast otherwise could risk causing injury to her delicate frame.

-Concussive blasts: Helena can utilise her magic into blasts of pure concussive force, directed at a target of her choosing.

Skills:

Diplomacy: Helena is not an expert on warfare and economics but those are not her job. Her job is to keep the people of her country happy. And the key to making everyone happy is giving everyone what they want, and if that fails, persuading them that what they get is in fact what they want.
