Professional Brick Thrower
"Not a single lick of hard evidence." Lord El Melloi II grumbled, tossing the case folder onto his desk in a huff. He had been given obnoxious assignments by the Association in the past, but this one definitely took the cake. With the setting sun shining in through the windows, he sat down at his desk and started to tense his temples. "This job is giving me more wrinkles by the day." He muttered, reaching for a cigar out of his top desk drawer. His students and even Gray had been getting on his case about quitting the stuff lately, yet he wasn't ready for that. Hell, he wasn't sure if he ever would be. The daily gripes and toils of leading a Department at the Clocktower required something to take the load off and there sure were a lot worse things he could be doing.

It wasn't as if he truly aimed to set an example for his students and colleagues, that wasn't ever what he was about. Sure, he took his role seriously, but he did hope for the life of comfort that everyone wishes for. Twirling the cigar around in his fingers, El-Melloi II sighed and dropped the stimulant back into its drawer. "Save it for a rainy day." He convinced himself, anxious to get this day over with and go home to do anything he found relaxing, even getting back to playing a game he had taken a break from. Sitting back in his chair, he couldn't help but leer at the case folder he had tossed aside.

It was a devastating blow to the Clocktower on the night of the discovery. Lord Rufleus Nuada-Re Eulyphis, the experienced Lord of the Department of Spiritual Evocation was found deceased in his office at the Clocktower. Being so old in age, it would not have been an issue to assume he passed of natural causes. Yet, the manner that the corpse was found made it blatantly clear there was trouble abound. Stuck in his chair, Lord Rufleus' eyes was hazy and gray, staring down at his own chest. One would do the same if they too had found a gaping hole in their abdomen. From the state of the wound, it was clearly not a surgical procedure, evident of having been a violent event. Even weirder was the direction of the injury, should that something had occurred, bursting out from within. Theories were passed around that it was a self-made wound, or that he had even swallowed an explosive device of some kind that went off.

While still plausible, in some crazy way, theorizing was put on hold, with the discovery of a note left by the late Lord right as he perished. The investigative team wished it had useful information, yet were dejected when it only said "EYE". The state of the handwriting led to the conclusion Lord Rufleus made the note in haste, just as he was dying or right before it happened. Of course, it was anything but a lead. The late Lord's eyes were examined, yet there was nothing amiss with them. Possible drawings or incantations in the shape of an eye were searched for, but none were found. Observational devices and similar magic were checked for; still no results.

Worried for their own safety more than anything else, the other Lords conversed and had El-Melloi II be the one to head the investigation completely. Outraged at bearing all the responsibility in this case, El-Melloi II begrudgingly understood this was how the world of magecraft works. Mages look out for themselves first and foremost, followed closely by the magic surviving their future lineages. As respected as he was, he had developed a reputation for being a sort of "problem solver" for the Clocktower, solving cases like a character from some childhood cartoon or book.

At its core, this was no different from any other occasion; at least it would have been that way if a development from the Holy Church didn't hint at some connection to the dead Lord. One lone Executor tracking down a rogue Mage in Austria led to a brutal showdown, wherein the Mage died in a manner similar to Lord Rufleus, and the Mage's sacrificial victims freed themselves and disappeared out of sight. The Executor was no amateur, with a reputation to prove it in the Church, so his account was taken as near truth. From there, the stage was set: the Holy Church and Association would cooperate on this case. Initially, it would have been directly; El-Melloi II knew better however, convincing both sides to put forth members to form a temporary team instead. That was the option that was chosen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gray had been a bit aloof ever since learning of Lord Rufleus' murder; not surprising, considering the brutality of it. She never was one for the more gory aspects of working with her master, despite the constant flack from Add telling her to toughen up. Even after all these years, she still felt like the same meek girl working as an apprentice. Her appearance had thankfully changed over the years, resembling the detested Saber less and less each year. "Or maybe that's just what the king looks like older," Add had once jeered, ensuring Gray still was self-conscious of her appearance.

Sitting in Lord El Melloi II's office, Gray remained silent as her master mulled over the sadly thin case file. They were scheduled to meet the team members tonight, a later time chosen for the sake of the Clocktower's inhabitants to not see what they might not like. Lightly pulling her hood further over her face, she couldn't help but have to ask, "Will there be enough time for us to solve this case?" That question was more dangerous than who did it or where the evidence to prove it is. Everyone seemed to have an uncanny realization that there was an unknown time limit at play here. If not for the Lords or rogue Mages, then who? The Association? The Church? It could be anyone or no one.

Lord El-Melloi II, no, Waver Velvet hated not knowing. The more questions left unanswered, the more uneasy he could become. It takes a lot to rile him up, but something here was different. Regardless, now would begin the true operation; Team Eye for an Eye was inbound and he would have to provide them with his expertise as they did the same in turn. History was to be made this day, for the Church, the Association and the entire world of Magecraft.

Olimpia

The tick tocking of Olimpia’s everyday life was interrupted by a single letter. The summons from her benefactor gave a brief rundown of the situation at hand and since Olimpia had been expecting it she was able to set off before the second hand of the clock could complete a single rotation.

It may have been better to have the meeting location somewhere other than the clocktower to give at least a sense of being impartial or a show of good faith for the frail alliance between the church and the clocktower but, given the lead of the investigation it made sense the clocktower had the upper hand to force the first meeting of the team to be on its grounds. The trip itself had been pleasant enough even if only the last leg of the journey was traveled in luxury to make a good first impression.

Stepping out of the limo Olimpia knew all eyes would be on her. What would those watching, or trying to spy, judge or admire first? Her charming actions? Her mysterious visage? The large trunk strapped to her back?

Normally Olimpia would have toned it down a bit to blend in but her first priority was to make her presence known so word of her safe arrival could make it back to her benefactor. Her second priority was to make sure both the clock tower and the church knew that while expendable there would be a price to pay if she didn’t return. Rumor had it while the clocktower seemed friendly on the outside it was teeming with power struggles. Everyone dancing around with their words trying to curry favor to rise up the ranks while they schemed behind each other’s backs. Though it was the first time someone from her family had stepped foot on the grounds it was just like home so Olimpia was sure she would fit right in.

Given that she seemed a bit early Olimpia had time to ponder the events that would soon unfold. Afterall, it was quite the curious case. Since the only thing that travels faster than mage craft was gossip rumors had made their way over before the letter requesting her participation had even been sent. Anything that had eyes involved would interest Olimpia’s father which in turn would interest her since crushing anything he tried to get a hand into gave her great satisfaction.

A brief detour to complete some bureaucratic work and getting rid of some rough worries with her smooth words Olimpia was left waiting for someone to direct her to the meeting place once the time came. She didn’t mind waiting since she could finish up a couple power points that could be helpful on the mission.

The sun's pernicious rays, paling in comparison to the light of the Most High, had nonetheless long since ceased harassing Albtraum by the time she had walked up to the Clocktower. Of course she had to: it wasn't like buses plied the road to the monumental building, nor was she worth lending a car to. She kept her head low and her heart still as her shoes clicked on the road, the drying scars on her back stretching as she folded her arms.

Why would she, of all people, be assigned to such a high-profile case, instead of chasing the shadows of demons in some rural settlement on the other end of the island? Perhaps it was her facility with the Sacraments that made her a candidate, which was to say that her presence in this investigation was an entirely utilitarian, rather than diplomatic gesture. Of course: to be treated not as a tool or a figurehead, but as a simply competent person was what she deserved. The fact that no one would ever look at her differently brought her a certain amount of sorrow, though it would never turn to resentment. She deserved what she got, after all.

And so she took on this new task dutifully as always. She had the Word on her hip and Exegesis wrapped in an extra habit in her storage space.

Finally reaching the building, Albtraum simply stood by the entrance, not announcing her presence. She had heard that the Lord El-Melloi II was a dour man, but there really wasn't much more to it.

It was a small bar. The bar was small enough to be considered a stand almost, but it had the walls, windows, and door to make it its own building. The bar had no one in there at the moment, aside from a older man with slicked back black hair, a well groomed mustache, and he wore a pretty expensive suit for the owner of a small bar. The bell rang, alerting him that a customer had arrived. He finished cleaning the beer mug, and set the cleaning cloth down with it, as he opened his eyes to look at the newcomer.

The arrival wore a black cloak, with the hood pulled up over their head. Their face was covered with a red cloth face mask and round black sunglasses. The bartender watched the arrival sit down at the stool in front of the counter, before looking at him and bringing a hand up.
The Bartender looked at the arrival, before asking with a heavy Russian accent, "Welcome. What would you like to drink?"
The hooded person responded. Their voice was almost like that of a child, but it had the tone of an older person.
"I'd like your finest wine, the type a bloodthirsty monster would enjoy."

The Bartender turned away to look at the many bottles while a look of nervousness had appeared on his face. That person.... does he know?
The man replied as he grabbed a bottle of red wine. "I don't know what you are talking about. The only red wine we have is made from grapes."
The hooded person spoke again. "Don't try to hide it. I know you're the reason people have been disappearing from the streets for the past few days, with the latest kill being the Bartender under the counter in front of you."

Indeed, as he spoke, the bloody corpse of a Bartender was there, under the counter in frontof the accused Vampire. The accused also had the same appearance as the Bartender. The Vampire put the bottle down. "So you figured out what I am... but you are as far as I know, just a nobody."
He spun around and leaped at the hooded person, his fangs barred. The hooded person swiftly got up, and pulled their cloak off to throw into the Vampire's face, before side stepping the attack.

The Vampire hit the floor and ripped the cloak off, as he found himself gasping for air.
"What..... what is..... why am I...."
He looked down at his chest to see a dagger pierced through there.
"Gh.... aaaaaaaaah,"
The Bartender had turned to ashes, as the unknown Slayer took their glasses off and pulled their mask down. Kyoryuji took out his phone and called a number.
"Dad, I found the Vampire that was the cause of the disappearances and disposed of him."
The voice on the other side, an older male with wisdom behind his voice, happily responded.
"Good job son. You are my greatest creation."
Kyoryuji smiled. It was of course a figure of speech, but in a way, if his father never adopted him and trained him as an Executioner, he'd never be here and did what he was trained to do.

"But now there's a new assignment."
His father spoke. "I received an invitation from Lord El Melloi II that is of urgent importance. I'm not as young as I used to be, and I need you to go in my stead."
"Understood father."
"Be careful son, and don't ever ignore your conscience."
Kyoryuji knew. It was his own Conscience that helped save his father from certain death when they first met. The conscience was, in a way, his own way of a sixth sense, inherited from the DNA of the creatures used to create him.

As soon as he back to England, he called a Taxi to take him to the Clocktower. The driver would drop him off there, and Kyoryuji gave the driver a tip, before he himself went ahead on his own. Soon, he came across a group of people waiting there. Kyoryuji wasn't sure why a bunch of strangers were waiting to go in, so he calmly approached the group before asking, "What brings you here?"

With a panicked urgency never seen by the likes of man, a young woman quickly made her way down the busy streets of the city. Her shoulder bag hung on for dear life as she rushed past the commuting strangers on the sidewalk. Of all the times to be late, today of all days! If this were any other time, she would have already been at her destination, anxious but ready for the upcoming meeting. Instead, Sayaka was only now leaving the small hotel she had been staying in.

This trip to London was not one of leisure. Quite the opposite, in fact. After deeming her presence back home as a waste of time and space, Sayaka Yamagichi, age 30, was promptly sent to London on business. What sort? To act as representative of her family, of course. A letter addressed to her specifically called for her support in a grizzly case. The sudden death of an important mage required her assistance.

If you asked Sayaka, this whole thing had to have been a misunderstanding. She wasn't a noteworthy mage in the slightest, her circuits barely working like they used to. But due to her family's never ending insistence, she was called by the Clock Tower. At this point, she really couldn't refuse. At the very least, being away from home for a little while would be fine. She was used to living alone after all these years. Still, it was poor day to be behind schedule. Jet lag was the worst thing to happen to her...

Now scrambling to keep not to drop her phone, Sayaka followed the directions on the screen, soon arriving at the entrance to the massive building. If she wasn't so out of breath and under pressure, she would be marveling at the sight of this enormous clock. For now though, she'd settle with easing the adrenaline out of her body. A deep sigh left her as she stopped to catch her breath.

It took her a few moments to notice the gathering of people outside, though she couldn't yet hear what they were discussing. They might also be here for the same reason. After debating whether or not to speak, Sayaka silently approached, but kept some space between her and the others. It would be mortifying if they were here for something else and she just suddenly included herself. Best to wait it out, for now.

It went without saying that whenever a mage of Lord Rufleus' caliber and status kicks the bucket, there will always be those looking to either fill in the power vacuum or exploit it. One who might as well be aiming for both is Bram Nuada-Re Sophia-Re, the eldest son of the late lord and now the successor for the empty lord's seat. He wasn't much happy about helping out the obnoxious Lord El-Melloi II with this investigation, even if it was just to greet the temporary team to the Clocktower. "Ugh, why couldn't he have gone out in a normal way?" Bram muttered to himself, exemplifying the attitude that many a Clocktower mage carries. It would have served to avoid forcing him to bring out the welcome wagon to Holy Church fanatics and lower-classed mages than himself.

Just another role of many he would find foisted upon him, especially once the preparations are all set for him to succeed the late Lord. Was the cause of death worrying for the Lord's first blood relative? Certainly. But, he still found it more important to skip any more attention that could be given to his father than he had already received. "The dead have no need for that sort of thing. Why not save them for still youthful and promising mages, "I fit that description perfectly." He chuckled to himself, amused.

As he waited, he did feel the urge to run to Lord El-Melloi II to do his job for him. If El-Melloi was the mage assigned as the primary advisor and leader of Team Eye for an Eye, would it not make more sense to have his keister out here to greet the riffraff? Alas, Lord El-Melloi was currently waiting in his room for the team retriever that Bram was. "More than likely getting in his final moments of solitude before dealing with these peons." Bram sighed, wishing that was his idea to do.

It was just about time for the members to start arriving, so Bram mentally ran through the spiel he had an assistant write-up the day before. Words of encouragement and good tidings practically oozed from the notes Bram glossed over once again. Gritting his teeth at how different it made him sound compared to how he actually felt, Bram barely had time to crumple the note up and stuff it into his pocket as the first vehicle pulled up.

Started out as one, then two, then three, now four. A whole squad, handpicked by their superiors for whatever reasons they felt inclined. Bram cleared his throat, doing his best to hide his instinctive grimace at the sight of Holy Church members. To him, this was a huge mistake; this could all be used against the Clocktower in the future, or the Association as a whole. Hell, if a culprit mastermind behind his father's murder happened to be a mage, it could be a reasoning for the Church to officially declare all of the Association and it;'s related magecraft the immediate next threat. Those pessimistic thoughts would serve no purpose here, so he bottled them up to address the team member on the front steps.

Pushing his long red hair out of his face to make his facial expressions completely visible, he stepped down to speak to everyone before they can fully get acquainted with each other. "Salutations and welcome to the most prestigious locale in the entire Association!" He cheerily said, his eye twitching from using such an obviously fake tone. "You all were picked for you....fantastic skills and dedication to your causes. We look forward to your working together with each other and us."

Bram, smiling gently yet tensely, continued. "You're squad leader is, of course, Lord El-Melloi II. He's got the knowhow for solving crimes like this, so we expect you to be on your best behavior and cooperate to the fullest extent. And that includes following Association rules. We don't need to start fights now, do we?" He sarcastically asked. looking over at the Executors a few times too many for anyone's liking. "Lord El-Melloi II is in his office expecting you all. Third floor, east wing. Is there anything I can answer before letting you into his care?" Bram inquired, caring more about there being none for this farce to end.

Olimpia

You would think the mages association would prepare some chairs or refreshments if the meeting place was at the entrance. The fact such little thought was put into it spoke volumes of how much they must think of the rag tag group that would assemble. Still, Olimpia waited off to the side idly observing for when the others would show up with only her thoughts to continue to keep her company. The fact that no one was here before her meant that whoever the mages association provided was either too important to stand around or would be viewed as sacrificial.

Keeping up the appearance of being flesh and blood Olimpia shifted her stance and stretched a bit as who she assumed would be the next team member arrived. The fact that they walked gave her plenty of time to observe them. Pail, frail, and most likely to carry a grail it seemed the first representative of the church had arrived. A simple nod was all the greeting Olimpia gave with her trademark employee of the month smile. Since the figure did not greet her first there was no need to force conversation as they waited around.

As the silence that Olimpia felt was comfortable continued the next arrived by taxi. Again, an ambiguous figure, why it almost seemed they were all chosen based on that theme.

“Most likely the same reason as you,” she said with a faint smile in response to their question. Since they were asking the odds of having other business seemed slim since why not just enter the building in that case? Olimpia didn’t bother introducing herself since information was power and she wanted to keep her cards close to her chest. Any farther inquiries she would answer in the same vague polite manner to maintain the small talk.

Olympia’s gaze was drawn away from her current companions as a finally non-ambiguous figure approached, so much for that theme. Pausing to collect themselves, the figure than approached her group before stopping to wait short distances away. Olimpia made a small come here gesture to make it known they would be welcome to come closer but vague enough that Olimpia wouldn’t be embarrassed if they were not part of the group or pressure them.

The arrival of some peon from within the building signaled that there was no turning back now. During his introduction all Olimpia could do is smile like he was a poor little animal and think wow look at him using big words to seem smart. First no chairs or refreshments and now sending someone well beneath their caliber to extend the greetings? Not even the tact to fake a want to be giving them. Given his predispositions it would be a wonder if any of the group liked him.

“No, I don’t think someone of your…caliber should be answering any of my questions,” Olimpia said in the polite tone that left it to him to mistake it as a compliment if he was dumb enough instead of the insult it was. The fact they kept someone like Bram around must purely be from nepotism given his….everything. It was only the company around her that kept Olimpia from cutting him with her sharp tongue but nothing said she couldn’t ruin him socially later. On one hand maybe she should be grateful to be given such a clear bargaining chip against the association this early.

Polite nods and acknowledgement all around, thank the Lord. With any luck, Albtraum wouldn't have to do much talking and they could wrap this up nice and neat. Alongside the positively statuesque woman was a slim, but decidedly well-defined figure as well as a flashy, blue-haired guest. The second was dressed in the uniform of the Executors, though she didn't know them personally. Which meant the other two were probably recalled mages who were selected to work on the case. Did that mean they had jurisdiction? Did she have to defer to them? Maybe she really was just meant to be the muscle if something...unholy turned out to be involved.

It was at this juncture that the red-haired man, Bram, approached them, inviting a small "eep" from Albtraum. A polite, if standard address quickly gave way to his true attitude, which Albtraum could hardly begrudge him even if she wished he'd put a tiny bit more effort into keeping it up. And, of course, one of the group decided to return a bit of condescension towards him.

"A-ah...no questions. We should find our way to Lord El-Melloi at once."
Doing her best to keep the situation from escalating (if it would), Albtraum decided to give the opportunity for Bram and the rest of the group to acknowledge her.

Kyoryuji caught those glances of suspicion and concern from the redhead. Kyoryuji kept his mouth shut, because he was here specifically under his father's instruction, and his father, if he was here, wouldn't want to start a fight. Kyoryuji just calmly smiled at Bram, which may or may not imply to him that Kyoryuji was not like the others, and he should watch what he says.
"Lord El-Melloi II is in his office expecting you all. Third floor, east wing. Is there anything I can answer before letting you into his care?" Bram inquired, caring more about there being none for this farce to end.
Kyoryuji did have a question, but before he could ask, a woman who looked like she'd be a secretary of some office, with blonde hair and green eyes, replied she didn't have to ask him, in something almost akin to a insult, but in the tone of a polite person.
Kyoryuji made a mental note to not get into any fights with her if she instigated one.
"A-ah...no questions. We should find our way to Lord El-Melloi at once." Doing her best to keep the situation from escalating (if it would), Albtraum decided to give the opportunity for Bram and the rest of the group to acknowledge her.
Kyoryuji heard the soft voice and turned around to see someone he very much recognized from within the Executioners, a young looking girl with white hair and pink highlights. She wore a dress that was somewhat different from when he last saw her, but he didn't speak up. He reminded himself to talk with Albtraum later to ask what another member of the Executioners was doing here.
He however had another reason to try and talk with her later, she was in many aspects, like himself, and was adopted into the Executioners, just like he was.

Kyoryuji would then speak up.
"I have no questions myself, except for one. What are we all here for?"

It seems that everyone had finally gathered, meaning Sayaka really was the last to arrive. Now that she had finally got her barings, she sighed in relief and from exasperation. Still, at least she was finally here. Only spending a day in London had barely left her any time to adjust to things. But there would be time to worry about that later. Sayaka nearly missed one of the others signaling her to come closer! Her attention was now focused on the other three as she came a bit closer, allowing her to hear the conversation better.

Not long after a few sentences had been shared did someone else appear. While her contact with other mages had been few and far in-between, she could tell this particular man was trouble. His aura gave off the air of a "better than you" attitude and Sayaka felt herself getting a little anxious once he started talking. She had anticipated running into someone like this when arriving, but for this to be the person greeting them? What luck. His greeting was obviously forced and she could see him straining to care. Mages will be mages, after all...

Once he was done with the forced introduction, Sayaka let out another sigh. This whole thing seemed to be really big. While the letter gave some info, it was also somewhat vague. Perhaps because of the severity of the situation, but it was obvious how important it was. Hearing the name and title of their squad leader also caught her attention. The lords were apparently very important in mage society. Even so, it doesn't seem to matter to outsiders. Hearing the response from one of her team members, the blond individual who had signaled her over, made Sayaka squeak in surprise. She was quick to cover her mouth, trying to hide the small smile coming to her face. Now was not the time to be laughing, but the response had caught her off guard.

Clearing her throat, the young woman only shook her head in response. Any questions would be better spent on someone more responsive than this Bram fella. The sooner they met with Lord El-Melloi II, the better. That usual feeling of nervousness and anticipation was bubbling up and she'd really like to get rid of it before something happens.

Bram could feel a nerve tense in his head at some of the hidden attitudes he was receiving from some of the people he was addressing. It didn't fall on him that his absolutely horrendous people skills and lack of tact played a major role in this. Still, he remembered that this bunch would be the ones to solve the murder of his father, so it wouldn't kill him to treat them better than the average magus he passed by at the Clocktower daily, if ever so slightly.

However, he certainly made his mark proving to be a horrible person, much like most of the upper echelon of magus society. Lord El-Melloi always told him he fit in here, never fully revealing that was a jab at him.

When Kyoryuji asked the question that everyone had on their mind, Bram's ego took front and center again right away. "Ah, yes, well you see, my poor dear old dad has kicked the bucket. I could only imagine the thoughts running through his mind in his final moments, wishing his dearly beloved eldest son could be by his side to provide him some emotional comfort." Bram acted with a bit of sniffling and rubbing his non-teary eyes. "While it may seem all is dandy for me, what with now becoming the new Lord for the Department of Spiritual Evocation, I would be remiss to say I am left concerned."

Swishing his long red hair around, Bram gave out a hefty sigh. "If only my father had been able to pass peacefully.....No, he was definitely eliminated by someone. There's scant evidence, indeed, but enough to at least prove that much." Surprisingly, Bram managed to throw away his egotism for a split second, as he explained, "Additionally, there is a recurring theme about eyes here. We have no inkling about that, but you were all picked to assist with this. I do happen to appreciate the Church complying with us Mages in this regard. It is possible that this can happen to any of us here at the Association or maybe even the Church. If one of the most holy leaders were to suddenly die in such a way, there's no telling what could happen to all of us."

It may have been mildly reassuring that Bram understood the gravity of the crime, though it was hard to tell whether it was due to reputation or moral reasons. Yet, it was still clear that he was more than ready to leave the work to this new team composed of Executioners and Mages alike. If they couldn't tackle this dilemma, no one could.

"Rightey-o! Now that we've had the (dis)pleasure of getting acquainted, shall we take you to your temporary ringleader? I'm sure the poor fella is getting all bored sitting in that stuffy office of his." Bram joked, laughing at it himself.

If he could be honest, Bram definitely agreed that El-Melloi was perfect for leading the team. His dedication to figuring out motives behind the actions mages take is unparalleled by most at the Clocktower. Once paired up with a whole investigative team, a prospect which the Clocktower never really did in the past, Lord El-Melloi should be able to help piece clues together more quickly.

Olimpia listened and observed her other team members gleaning a little bits of their personality from how they interacted with Rude mcrude face. It seemed some had less connections and information about why they had been summoned to the clocktower but it was unsurprising given the relation between the church and the mage association. In fact, Bram should consider himself lucky the situation didn’t dissolve farther from his open distaste of them. Upon leaning the location of Lord E-milleo it was tempting to leave the bafoon and go straight to the source but Olimpia still wanted to keep the upper hand in the social situation.

“Yes,” Olimpia said in something that could be mistaken for sympathy,” I sure your father wishes you were by his side.”

Given his son it would be either to sacrifice him instead or have the little trollup join him in death. Given Bram was now in charge of a department was pleasant news. First it made the slights against the group carry more weight which meant more bargaining power later and secondly, he would have a target on his back and when an accident just so happened to occur Olimpia hoped she would be able to see his fall from…well not from grace since he clearly wouldn’t have it.

“I’m sure all eyes will be on us than given the weight of this mission,” she said dryly lacking the same concern being more or less removed from the power struggles between the two organizations. Such could sadly not be said for the two clearly allied with the church but maybe their fourth team member would be lucky enough to avoid it. It was the very fact eyes were involved that she didn't mind this task. Given how long winded Bram was Olimpia would give the others a chance to assert themselves in the conversation. With his ego their was more than enough Bram to go around.

With the conversation thankfully over Olimpia would wait for Bram to lead the way like the little servant peon he was.

Olimpia's candor was lost on Bram, who was immediately sucked back into his own ego. "Let's get a move on, ladies and gentlemen. Tally-ho!" Bram announced, turning on his heels as if he was leading a marching band. "We can't leave the young, old fool waiting much longer!"

Bram was ultimately more than thrilled to lead this ragtag bunch through the Clocktower, almost like a tour. Any item, topic, or Department they passed was open to just another long winded explanation of the significance or importance of it. Yet, in true fashion, Bram spun it in such a way as if his own reputation was enhanced by their relevance. "And for that medallion, the Clocktower had found it in such a strange spot. Why, I offered my insight into the matter right away, which was much appreciated by my colleagues...." And on and on he went.

He certainly was willfully deaf to anything but his own voice, that much was agreed upon by many at the Clocktower. Some mages theorize you could hear Bram from miles away before he actually arrives on the scene. Whether such rumors were true or not mattered little, for people still loved to spread them around. Although by now, he had gone on for way too long. Even the Association may consider it a form of torture; thankfully, the group had reached Lord El-Melloi's office just before Bram reached the point of no return.

"Oh wow, time sure flies when you're having fun." Bram looked back and grinned at the investigation team. "Time for introductions to the head honcho." Knocking on the door of Waver's office, Bram hastily walked right on in. Gray certainly wasn't expecting the sudden entry and jumped back a little. Lord El-Melloi was less surprised, sulking at seeing the likes of another Lord, let alone like Bram, treading all over his personal space.

"How's it going, Wrinkles?" Bram greeted, waltzing over to Waver's desk and leaning against it. "Brought the team in as requested. Oh, but I made sure to get them enthusiastic about the fun they'll be having! We had such a blast on our way here and our spirits couldn't be any higher." He boasted, yet by one quick look, Waver could tell his team was ready to send Bram out the way his father did.

"ENOUGH." Lord El-Melloi commanded, standing up and staring Bram right in the eyes. The opposing Lord seems to appreciate the challenge and mischievously smiled back. "Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to complete my request. Exit the premises now so that I may provide a report to Eye for an Eye." Lord El-Melloi spoke with less tact that before, but still kept a hard struggle to maintain some semblance of respect for the other Lord. As much as he may hate to admit it, El-Melloi also had a reputation to keep around here. Sullying it due to Bram's constant prodding would be a disgrace he could never personally recover from, not to mention it'd put even more heat on his own back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waver sat in his leather chair, pinching his brow to alleviate the headache that Bram had so generously gifted him. He was glad that he hadn't yet enjoyed that cigar since he'd definitely need it now to take a load off. "I swear I feel myself aging three times faster with that buffoon around." He muttered, pulling the case file out of his desk and tossing it over to Gray. She knew what he meant for her to do, so she brought it over to the now-seated team.

"You already know the story so far," El-Melloi stated. "But, I am Lord El-Melloi, Lord of the Department of Modern Magecraft Theory. I won't say any more about that unless asked. That girl you see with the hood on is Gray. She's my apprentice/assistant and will be joining us for solving this case." Gray gave a weak, politely smiled and waved at her temporary colleagues.

"Our first and only lead, contact, and eyewitness is Mr. Henry Slavoj, a lone Executor for the Holy Church. He was the one to see the first signs of a potential crime ring that may be involved with Lord Rufleus' murder. Meeting with him will be our first priority since he's keen on withholding most info until we meet in person. And since he's decided to come to London on a bit of a reprieve, we decided now would be the best time." Lord El-Melloi said after clearing his throat. He was now putting his years of speaking in front of a class to work, enunciating in an almost leaderlike tone, although he never could quite perfect it.

Gray however was feeling a bit giddy at getting to go out into the field again. Excursions like these, even if most of the time end in chaos and danger, always were a great way to lift her spirits and take her mind off of herself.

"Does anyone have any questions before we proceed with mission assignments?" Lord El-Melloi inquired. "With a diverse team like this, certain roles will be filled playing to our strengths, so if there are any inquiries, please do bring them forth now."

If time flew while you were having fun it explained why the trip to Lord El-Melloi's office felt like it took weeks. Most of the information of the tour was of the generic type while Bram inserted himself into every bit of information. It seemed the group was lucky he wasn’t inserting himself into the team but what team would last with Bram as a part of it. Olimpia gave a small nod to Gray and Lord El-Melloi as she entered the room while Bram continued to drone on and on still.

Thankfully things fell into quick order once he was removed. It seemed that El-Melloi had similar feelings about the man. Olimpia looked at the case file Gray brought over before passing it on to another teammate while Lord El-Melloi continued to explain the next steps. So far nothing suspicious stood out to her since it made sense someone from the church would be hesitant to give information to the mage’s association. Taking a moment to digest the information she than raised her hand to speak,

“Hello everyone, I am Olimpia and I was selected to be a part of the eye for and eye,” She gave a slight meh expression upon having to say the stupid name, "due to my expertise in the field of mysteries concerning eyes. I look forward to working with you all.”

Odds were they wouldn’t have enough time for her to break out the power points she had prepared if they would be needing to travel so Olimpia would save those for later. Cutting to the chase she asked the question that surely must be one everyone’s minds,

“When can we expect compensation from the clock tower for Bram’s transgressions?”

The short trip was as uneventful as most would generally expect, though Bram certainly seemed to want to make an event out of it. Perhaps he should have been a showman instead; though unlike the Church (so Albtraum liked to believe), the Mage's Association was full of the egotistical and was more than capable for finding a place that fit even a man like him. Albtraum could never present another human being with contempt, but somewhere deep down she was judging him, just a little.

Olimpia, so her name was, seemed to want to flex her muscle a bit and assert herself. Was this how the mages played their games? At the very least, Albtraum was going to stay on task. She didn't know Mr. Slavoj personally, but even that brief bit of second-hand (third-hand?) testimony elucidated some pertinent information.

"L-Lord El-Melloi." She bowed slightly, out of politeness more than anything. "I-I am Tenebra, Exorcist of the Church. As you have chosen to volunteer information at this moment, I accept your offer. Have you any information on this 'crime ring' that has involved itself? And how is Mr. Slavoj's condition? Is he...afflicted, physically or spiritually?" The idea that any "crime ring" could have posed an impedance to an Executor was a suspicious one. What could actually have gotten in the way of him detaining the rogue mage that supposedly murdered Lord Rufleus, or prevented him from retrieving the subsequent victims? It appeared that Mr. Slavoj was in a state to respond to questioning, but if she was to investigate, it would be sensible to gather more information from different perspectives.

Now, Sayaka had never been one to pray or ask some higher power for help. She might have asked an imaginary friend or two for advice, but that was the extent of her beliefs. However, there had to a be a higher power at work here today. After what felt like an eternity of hearing Bram rattle on about various aspects of the Clock Tower, the long trip was finally over. While she had found some of the info interesting, it most certainly lost its luster due to his... enthusiastic additions of himself into every aspect of the one sided conversation.

By the time they arrived, it seemed everyone had their fill of the Lord, even Lord El-Melloi, who was quick to dismiss him. Sitting with the others, Sayaka listened actively as he started the briefing. While her focus occasionally fell on other parts of the office, like the young lady named Gray, she took everything in as best she could. A real murder case, a crime ring and only one witness to the event... If she weren't already fidgety about the situation, she'd remark how odd it all was. At least, to herself, that is. She wouldn't voice her opinions unless asked.

So focused on trying to process this information, she nearly missed everyone introducing themselves. With a slight lull in the introductions, Sayaka decided to get hers out of the way. The sooner she spoke, the sooner she could go back to quietly observing. "Good morning, everyone. My name is Sayaka Yamagichi and I'm umm," she began, trying to keep her nerves under control, "a mage, mostly suited for medical assistance. I'll try my best to be of assistance." She then offered a small wave before going back into her head. If not for her rehearsing this some days before, it would have been a lot worse.

Kyoryuji followed Bram, having taken the lead before any other arrival would proceed.
After being lead into the office of Lord El-Melloi II, Bram had a conversation with the older man, before leaving.

He was now putting his years of speaking in front of a class to work, enunciating in an almost leaderlike tone, although he nvecould quite perfect it.

Kyoryuji took a glance at the hooded girl, before looking back to the leader. He never met the Executioner known as Henry Slavoj, but he heard stories during his time training as an Executioner. Training to become a Executioner is filled with danger, from other potential recruits. Kyoryuji had been bullied a bit by the rivals, but he would end up surpassing them and earn his position in the group. He looked back to the girl Albtraum.
Is he...afflicted, physically or spiritually?"
Kyoryuji smiled. Asking the important questions. That's what made him like her, she was smart, unlike a majority of other Executioners, and it perfectly complimented his own strength. He then looked back to
“Hello everyone, I am Olimpia and I was selected to be a part of the eye for and eye,” She gave a slight meh expression upon having to say the stupid name, "due to my expertise in the field of mysteries concerning eyes. I look forward to working with you all.”
He heard the office woman speak, which made him make a split second glare when she asked about money. She did realize this wasn't about money at all, right?
"Good morning, everyone. My name is Sayaka Yamagichi and I'm umm," she began, trying to keep her nerves under control, "a mage, mostly suited for medical assistance. I'll try my best to be of assistance."
Kyoryuji looked behind him to see a woman there, looking a bit nervous. He didn't know what was troubling her, but he didn't want to ask. It was probably personal.

After the others had introduced themselves, Kyoryuji would take his turn.
"I am Kyoryuji Einzbern, filling in for my father, the head of the Executioner Division in Germany."
He bowed.
"In my father's name and for his honor, I will not let you down."

He would never be able to vocally admit it to others at the Clocktower, but the level of professionality and respect the Church's members introduced themselves with struck it as a nice change of pace for the sullen Lord. If the Clocktower's supposed rivals could behave this way, it surely displayed the difference in attitude between the two organizations. If anything, it at least hinted that this team will be a lot more compatible than if it were composed of strictly Clocktower mages. With that positive thought in mind, Waver was additionally glad to hear inquiries from his team members. They definitely took this assignment seriously, in stark contrast to Bram's attitude about anything.

Olympia was the first to introduce herself, making a rather hilariously surprising inquiry. "Yes indeed," El Melloi stated in reassurance. "That idiot's presence never fails to leave that impression on people. Fear not, the Clocktower can be easily convinced that you'll be monetarily compensated for this matter. They may be stingy and annoying as they come, but that won't be an issue. As for Bram, I'd need to have a little discussion to see what we can get from him." El-Melloi could barely hold back a smile at mentally estimating how that discussion with the other Lord would go.

Now, Waver had been given only the most basic of background information on this bunch he will be working with, for reasons stated to help him remain impartial. He had felt it redundant since other Mages should practice that instead of himself. What they knew of Olimpia was a general overview, but it was enough for Gray to understand similarities between what they've been through in their years. Waver appreciated this fact, since some sort of relatability for members may help morale further down the road.

Tenebra, a member of the Church and one of its Exorcists, introduced herself, but was more interested about the current state of the Executor, Henry Slavoj and why he has remained so tight lipped. Slumping back in his chair, the Magus lost himself in thought briefly.
"It is of no surprise that someone of Mr. Slavoj's history being rather reclusive in this matter is highly odd to anyone, especially the Holy Church itself. We may not be able to picture exactly what he saw on that day, or how his emotional state was, due to this fact." Sighing, this was why Waver hated when people were cryptic. Even if necessary, it did little to ease his confusion. "Whether the victims, now suspects, were members of a crime syndicate prior or were in the middle of initiation before being kidnapped by a mage, I can't say. Yet, I do know that Mr. Slavoj wouldn't make anything up. He'd have no reason to."

"The most important description given was that the vanished suspects 'blinked three times, but once for each eye.'"
Standing up again, El-Melloi turned to the Exorcist. "Thinking on it now, I'm not of the mind it is a coded message, but a literal, accurate detailing. If the people Henry saw blinked three times, yet only once for each eye, we know that is physically impossible. We only have two eyes, so blinking a third time, when these have already done so once isn't possible." He said, pointing at his own eyes for emphasis. "Strange as it is, we may have to assume that these people may have had a third eye of sorts. I can't tell if that is metaphorical or literal, however. That would have to be further explained by Mr. Slavoj himself."

With Sayaka's introduction, Waver felt a sense of relief that someone on the team had healing magecraft. That always seemed to be one of the aspects lacking with his investigations; encountering something that would put them in over their head and leave them on the verge of death because they couldn't heal. "We're very lucky to have one of your expertise on the team, then. Welcome aboard and we'll do our best not to get hurt too badly." He said with a chuckle. Gray wasn't too keen on the thought of El-Melloi playing down how important anyone's safety, even his own was.

Kyoryuji Einzbern was tact and straightforward with his greeting. No surprise to El-Melloi, considering that the Church was a bit more true to standards than the Clocktower. Additionally, he was hear in place of his father, meaning that there was an inkling of a personal stake at play for the Executor. "We'll do our best to not hold you back." Waver assured with a nod. Most intriguing was the Einzbern name; the name recurring from the 4th War and from what he remembers being told about the 5th. It wasn't surprising to encounter such a name again at some point, he just never expected so soon. Still, it proved that Team Eye for an Eye was well equipped with skill, history, talent and drive for this mission.

"Fantastic bunch." Waver thought, before speaking, "We'll be setting out tomorrow. Tonight will be a time to get some rest after your travels here and to reflect on what's to come. The other offices on this floor have been retrofitted into temporary dorms, but do take care not to leave this floor of your own volition. There are eyes and ears everywhere; even if we are a team brought together by two organizations, not everyone will be glad to see you all here, unfortunately." The Lord warned, pissed that he had to do so. He always wished for a day when everyone would simply just get along, but in the world of Magecraft, that was more impossible than reaching the Root.

"I'll mostly be in here for the night, putting together a plan for us going forward. But, to give you a general gist of where I'll be situating everyone, Olimpia will be on surveillance as we meet with Mr. Slavoj. Sayaka will remain as our medic in case anything happens. Tenebra will act as support for Mr. Slavoj, in case we find something not right with him. That possibility is always open. And Kyoryuji, you'll act as our guard in case any conflict arises. You're practically the fastest of us here and can react the quickest. I hope I have made myself clear." Lord El-Melloi concluded with a booming voice. "Sleep well and I'll be here if you need anything. Dismissed!"

Tenebra seemed well spoken enough if a bit shy. Sayaka seemed to be in the same boat as her so it might be up to Olimpia and Lord El-Melloi to handle the rougher social situations. It was hard to decided if either of them were sent for being expendable or for their skill. Kyoryuji seemed the most competent amongst her new companions but his pride in his father could end up being his downfall. Any enemy with common sense would try and use such close ties against him to impact the team.

“Rather than monetary compensation it may be wiser to asks for favors relating to our current mission. I feel that they will be quick to offer Bram for such tasks. If not I’m sure there’s a useful trinket or two that they can temporarily part with,” Olimpia said hoping the tasks they may require another mage for would be far far away from the team. They should be able to leverage a lot from the clocktower since they would be doing them the favor of removing Bram from the vicinity as well. The more tools the team could get in there toolbox this early the better.

The answers given to Tenbra’s questions didn’t surprise Olimpia given how many unknowns there were to the case so far. Blinking with three eyes didn’t faze Olimpia since when mysteries were involved anything was possible. A long night of research would await her to organize her notes on the phenomena across different cultures and myths.

Like Gray, Olimpia was not thrilled at the prospect of making light of everyone’s safety especially given her lack of flesh and blood. Still, if the opportunity arose where she would need to take an injury for Sayaka Olimpia would since the healer was more valuable to the team.

She added the Einzbern name to the list of notes to organize. With El-Melloi’s confidence in him it seemed Kyoryuji would be allowed more freedom to perform the tasks assigned to him. Given what she knew off hand about his family name he most likely fell into the group sent for their skill.

Olimpia spared a quick glance to her teammates as they were told not to leave the floor. None of them pegged Olimpia the type to sneak out unless they had good reason or were tricked so it should be fine. If she was acting solo, it would have been tempting to start manipulating the eyes and ears watching them but for now it would be best to keep the status quo. The positions that were assigned to each member made sense given the qualities they must have so Olimpia was thankful Lord El-Melloi seemed as competent as the stories about him suggested.

“Given my role may I ask you to have someone pull the information the clocktower and the Church has gathered on the area?” Olimpia asked since to notice something strange you first needed to know what was normal. If her allies knew anything she trusted they would speak up about it.

Olimpia planned to compile her notes the best she could as the night drew on most likely to be the last to retire for the night amongst her comrades. At least thats what she assumed given the amount of documents she may need to sort through.

Lord El-Melloi's explanation was not uncooperative, but about as broad as one might expect in the situation. Given the apparently perilous nature of his experience, Mr. Slavoj seemed to be holding on to information that could be of importance instead of volunteering it to the Mage's Association, and so too did the Church close ranks around one of their veteran members. Which, for the moment ironically seemed to be complicating the efforts of Albtraum herself as well as Kyoryuji in getting a whole picture of what was going on.

She glanced at the reptilian figure for a moment, as if considering her concerns. No doubt Olympia and Sayaka would find themselves poring over various tomes and historical documents to try and dredge up any pertinent, perhaps long lost secrets. That was part of her work, too. But before tomorrow, what was warranted was prayer, to open a path for divine providence.

She considered asking, in fact, that she be allowed to be the first to question Mr. Slavoj. But she thought better of it, if they were all going to meet him at the same time anyway.

She leaned slightly towards her associate, seeing if he might have had the same consideration. "...Kyoryuji, any thoughts?"

"The most important description given was that the vanished suspects 'blinked three times, but once for each eye.'" Standing up again, El-Melloi turned to the Exorcist. "....."
Three eyes? Kyoryuji had seen and heard alot of things during many of his missions, but this was a first. What exactly could the third eye be, if not litteral? He pondered about the description for a bit, while the others talked with El-Melloi.
"We'll be setting out tomorrow. Tonight will be a time to get some rest after your travels here and to reflect on what's to come. The other offices on this floor have been retrofitted into temporary dorms, but do take care not to leave this floor of your own volition. There are eyes and ears everywhere; even if we are a team brought together by two organizations, not everyone will be glad to see you all here, unfortunately."
Kyoryuji very well understood what this was referring to. Not everyone has gotten used to him, or his background. Some still even had suspicions that he was actually an Assassin, just waiting for the right time to strike. Kyoryuji hoped he didn't run into those people.

"I'll mostly be in here for the night, putting together a plan for us going forward. But, to give you a general gist of where I'll be situating everyone, Olimpia will be on surveillance as we meet with Mr. Slavoj. Sayaka will remain as our medic in case anything happens. You're practically the fastest of us here and can react the quickest. I hope I have made myself clear."
"As clear as crystal."
Kyoryuji replied.
after the group was dismissed, Kyoryuji was about to walk out when He saw Albtraum approach.
She leaned slightly towards her associate, seeing if he might have had the same consideration. "...Kyoryuji, any thoughts?"
He nodded.
"I can't help but think there's something else behind the explanation we received."
He then looked towards the room's entrance. Before gesturing her to follow him. He felt that what he needed to tell her would be a problem if anyone else heard him.

With Lord El-Melloi's dismissal, Sayaka felt her shoulders relax just a little. They were going to start the investigation as soon as possible tomorrow so she had the rest of the day to mentally prepare herself. As the lord had said, she'd be serving as the healer, though that was only natural. She couldn't see herself doing anything more than patching up a few wounds, though hopefully, nothing too serious would happen. The chances of losing a teammate wasn't unlikely considering what they were getting into. Maybe thinking too hard about it wasn't the best idea... She'd only worry herself before anything had even begun.

Tuning back into the conversation, it seemed like everyone still had some questions to ask. Sayaka understood what information the lord had shared for the most part, but even then, it was still difficult to make sense of it all. Three eyes and a bunch of unknown variables didn't exactly make this anymore clear. Luckily enough, Olimpia was already asking for additional resources to help out. It seemed like even Kyoryuji and Tenebra had something to discuss.

Considering her own role in all this, Sayaka was certain she wouldn't be much use outside of her magic and an almost-but-not-quite-done medical degree. Everyone seemed to have a better grasp at their positions already. Or maybe it was just her unrelenting nerves again. Probably that... Regardless, she wanted to be useful in whatever way she could. She'd find some way to contribute aside from healing, just as long as she didn't get in the way of everyone else.

Of course. Kyoryuji, who was used to taking very...hands-on measures in his missions, also knew that something was up. Albtraum, for her yielding nature, didn't exactly care too much about making a good impression and building bridges with the Mage's Association. She wasn't a diplomat after all, and her presence in this investigation was entirely practical. But she wasn't especially inclined to make it seem like she was keeping secrets and serving the interests of the Church first.

Folding her hands, she did her best not to look conspiratorial as she left Lord El-Melloi's presence, rounding a corner in the building before allowing Kyoryuji to catch up to her.

"Mr. Kyoryuji, do you have insight into what Mr. Slavoj may have witnessed? Or did something Lord El-Melloi said tip you off?"

"Mr. Kyoryuji, do you have insight into what Mr. Slavoj may have witnessed? Or did something Lord El-Melloi said tip you off?"
"You don't need to call me Mr."
Kyoryuji replied, his back turned to his fellow associate.
"We both studied under the same roof, didn't we?"
He asked, recalling the "school" that they both had been taught at. It wasn't really a school, but considering all of the studies and training, it almost was one.

Kyoryuji then got down to business, turning around to face her, one hand in his pocket, while the other rested at his side.
"Doesn't that description of the three eyes feel off to you? I haven't heard of anything like that, even with all the monsters I've slain around the world. Do you know of anything that could match that description, Spiritual or otherwise?"

Kyoryuji certainly noticed. Not much got by him. Albtraum could only hope that this nature of his could get them through the investigation in a timely manner. Still, this uncommon description didn't strike her as being a cover for withheld information. Lord El-Melloi was playing his cards close to the chest of the Mage's Association, but she didn't think he was lying, even by omission, and she said so.

"T-the demons I have faced aren't like that...when they possess their victims they maintain their forms perfectly for long periods of time. And...and when I force them out their forms are protean. Malleable. They would never bother with changes as simple or obvious as a single additional eye..."

She clasped her hands. "No doubt the two mages will know more than we do about this, if it is even possible for them to know. But I do not believe they are hiding anything from us, more than they always do."

Directing her gaze upward, she looked insistently at Kyoryuji. "I am certain of one thing, however. We must get the whole truth from Mr. Slavoj tomorrow, even if he tries to dissuade us."

For in a situation like this, him being another Executor, and generally well-regarded, did not mean he could be taken at face value.
