Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC Chat) - Chapter Six

I hope to post tomorrow. Stay healthy and happy, Gang! =)

Remember, gang. One of the reasons we have an OOC channel is for you guys to discuss crazy moments like this together. Mario maybe at the wheel, but the three of you are as much of a team as players as the Wild Cards are in-game. =)

Ok, first question. Were there any reports of RDF mecha in the area? I was under the impression that the escorts of the transport were four Ajax fighters.

Here's what Stein has told us:

He alone is being held in a TacCorp armored personnel carrier with a T.A.S.C. escort of four Ajax helicopters en route to God-knows-where.
The T.A.S.C. escort is heading through the Badlands and that is anyone's territory. Reggie and I spotted fresh-looking Zentraedi tracks in an intercept trajectory - the T.A.S.C. escort is heading straight into a Zentraedi ambush! Let them duke it out!

So the Destroids aren't the escort, but they may be related. I think we should avoid if we can, and save our ammo (and armor!) for the main event.

I was thinking we can try to jink down a side street and bypass them completely. I am just wondering if it is possible that these mecha are going to be allies of ours, looking to jump the escorts and free the Colonel themselves. Remember Hairball in his Phalanx Destroid? It might be them.

Hmm. Possible. I didn't get the impression that anyone else was out here, but Hairball just might be crazy enough to do it?

Maybe jink and bypass, and see if Shirley can ID on her way past? I'm guessing she's familiar enough with Hairball and his crew to recognize their mecha. Or she could talk to Stein if the phone connection's still up and see if he knows who they are.

Hmm. Second question. Do these mecha have any IFF codes to tell what squad/unit they are from?

Notes worth sharing.

1. Remember, you are racing against the clock with no in-game time to chat. Taking a side street will slow your average speed. If you do that, you will have to increase your speed later to make up for the loss.

2. The call with Professor Stein was completed a short while ago on board the Broadsword.

3. Re: IFF codes. That's not something I can reveal out-of-game, but it is something that can be checked in-game (though you are not in combat, it will take the equivalent of an action to check).

Good to see you putting your heads together! =)

That's why I suggested bypass now. That will give Mario a moment to ask Shirley if those are her friends, and her to have a looksee, even if it's while we're on the side street (she flies, after all). Also I think the sooner we've got something between us and that radar, the better.

We can pick up the pace once we're going straight again, yes?

That seems to be the case. =)

At the speed you are all traveling down the main road (80 mph) and the distance they are from you (less than 500 feet), by the time you send out and recieve IFF data, they will probably have noticed you (this assumes they have not already). But by staying on the main road, you might be able to fly past them so quickly they don't have much time to react.

If instead you leave the main road and take a side street, you run into terrain that you're not familiar with and any surprises along with it. But that should give you the opportunity to both get IFF data back and have time to ask Shirley, and you will not be in the destroids' line of fire when you find out.

We have some extra speed under our belts that we haven't tapped into yet. Go around, then pick up speed to make up for lost time.

Everyone is on at the same time. I think it's great when that happens. =)

What skill would Toph need to use to try and check to see if these mecha are broadcasting any transponder signal?

Under normal circumstances I would not request a roll. These, of course, or anything but normal circumstances. A Sensory Equipment roll should suffice. I will roll it when I get home. =)

Does anyone else want to use a skill or the like?

Toph's skill is at 74%
-5% (difficulty due to stressful situation)
+?% (technopathy bonus)
*rolls on the white dice and gets a 64*
Success!

Psychie, I'm glad you made Toph a brainy character because those points into her I.Q. just made the difference between success and failure! =)

Kaerri Kaerri Sherwood Sherwood Psychie Psychie I don't know if you have been getting alerts. If so, and if no one has a reaction to what just happened, I'll continue on with the story or...? =)

Been off line for the day, trying to unplug with the family a bit. Give me some time and Mario will have a response up.

Hope you guy and gals are ready because it's on! =)

While I don't feel it is in Mario's nature to tease someone like Cera, Shirley is hoping that some teasing from Mario will help them bond a bit.

Military types who are close to one another tend to rag on each other pretty hard in my experience. I know a couple of Marines who can be pretty darned rude when they want to be. Heh.

All this is done in fun and to keep each other tough-spirited, but from the outside looking in, it's pretty easy to mistake it for something else. But when you look closer, it's really a form of affection they use only with those they truly care about. =)

Do you know anyone in Real Life like that, Gang? =)

Oh, I don't know . . . Perhaps both you and Sherwood? You two seem to be able to razz one another without getting mad over it pretty well. :hornstongue;
