Devil's Food
In the city of Dominion, the Southern Church was rebuilt after a nasty fire left the pride of the city a smouldering ruin. The new church stood out among the old bricks of the capitol with its fresh paint and newly laid foundation. Attendance reached a new height on Sunday, the day of Lady's Revivification. Father Landon read the gospel to a captivated audience, and light filled the windows of the church as he extended his arms into the air. The wash of warm light fell onto the crowd, and the Lady's blessing would stay with them even after leaving the freshly painted hall.
Father Landon's understudy was present for the ceremony, and it was his first time attending service since the fire, which started from an unknown origin but most believed it was from a tipped over candle in the study. Few believed it the work of Sanguine, Mitra's archenemy. None thought that the dark lord's evil could breach the walls of Dominion, which were high and protected by multiple holy wards.
Father Landon let out a long sigh. His balding head was dripping wet with perspiration from the humid summer's heat. He was a short crone of a man with thick spectacles and a walking stick. His sun medallion hung lowly, resting on his stomach when he was still.
"and Sir Issac Frostmire entered the unholy church of Sanguine, where the priests conducted their dark prayer. The light of Mitra emanated from his very being and blinded those who would conspire against Her. I uh... I believe you know what happened next." The crowd laughed a little in agreement. "The rhyme of paladins hardly stray from their duty of purification. It is the calling of every man of the cloth to seek out darkness and replace it with Her gift of light. As children of the light, you are bound to a similar duty to seek the darkness within yourselves and cleanse the spirit with good deeds and prayer. As always, the clerics of Mitra will hear your troubles and pass the teachings of the High Order onto you."
