Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

"...share you're darker side...right." Leia listened, the expression on her face turning into more of a frown. "You know, you're really not giving anyone much of a reason to get along with you. You may have doubts, but you don't know them like I do. None of them fit the description you just gave. Each and every one here is good, and they care about one another, they'd care about you too if you let them."

Kallin had bristled when Morgrim spoke down to Luness. If he ever did try to start something with her the undead man would have much more to deal with than Luness' blades or claws, but he had to smile as he listened to Leia...ever the idealist, but she was right in this case. He had come into the group distrusting and distanced...that had changed, and faster than he could even have imagined.

@Morgrim

"Fascinating." Merias said, her bright eyes shining out from the guise of the horse. "There is something foreign about you, yet something also so familiar. I do hope our king can help get to the bottom of this."

@SkywardSocks

Luness frowned at her lap, her anger welling up inside of her from this new character's backlashes towards both the group and herself.

Yet, listening to Kallin and then glancing sideways at him to see the look he was giving her awarded him with her rolling her eyes and giving him a lopsided grin. It wouldn't do anyone any good if she let the new guy get to her anyways.

Sighing, Luness then said, "Fine, but he better back off."

As the group began its journey, Luness felt herself calming more and more as they continued on. Pushing thoughts of the new guy out of her head, Luness admired the large canyon walls looming around the group. Luness suddenly felt very small and insignificant compared to the giant walls on either side of her.

Hearing one of the misty figures suddenly exclaim at Kallin's transformation, Luness' head quickly turned towards the being and she cocked her head while she listened to the conversation between the two.

Upon hearing that there was potential knowledge in the temple that could aid Kallin, Luness felt her heart begin to speed up and she let a subtle grin appear on her face, as she welcomed this newfound information and hope for Kallin.

Yet, just as Luness had truly calmed down, the zombie spoke up again and she felt her anger flare up within seconds at what she was told. She wasn't in charge here? She was a hypocrite? And now the frail zombie was challenging her to a brawl of all things? Was he mad? Luness had been with this group long enough and could take charge if she very well wanted to. Not that she planned to anyways, but she certainly had far more say in the matter than this arrogant prick ever would.

Luness' eyes shifted dark red one more, as she prepared to fully shift into her werecat form, but she suddenly halted her horse in surprise as Leandra abruptly pulled in front of her and forced her to a halt.

Scowling, Luness then angrily demanded, "What do you want, human?"

@SilverFlight @Morgrim

~~~~~
Doing her best to ignore the bickering among the group, much like Achyls did, Leandra continued along in the line of horses and admired the huge canyon once they transcended into it. It was certainly intimidating to say the very least and the mention of Rocs didn't calm her one bit. She recalled the beasts from a video game she played a long time ago, Age of Mythology. The birds were gigantic and had been used primarily as transport units, but Leandra had a fairly good idea of how deadly they could be if they wanted to be.
Hearing Leia's question, Leandra grinned and then said in a light tone, "I'd assume either a bird cry or the looming shadow would be telltale signs of a Roc's presence."
Upon hearing raised voices nearby, Leandra quickly shifted her attention onto Luness and then the zombie, then back to Luness in alarm when she saw the werecat beginning to shift. This wasn't good.
Quickly kicking her horse into a gallop, Leandra then brought it to an abrupt halt in front of Luness' mount, forcing the werecat to halt as well.
Hearing the werecat demanding what she wanted, Leandra then said in an even tone,
"Luness, you need to calm. down. Seriously, this isn't worth any potential injuries to the team. We need to save our strength for more important matters than someone giving one of us an attitude."
Luness continued to scowl at Leandra, though she did hear the reason in her words despite her anger wanting to just lash out at the zombie regardless.
Huffing in annoyance, Luness then said abruptly,
"Whatever" before kicking her horse into gears and moving herself to the edge of the group to avoid the zombie for the rest of the journey.
Leandra was relieved when Luness moved away from the zombie. At the very least, that would drastically reduce anymore potential clashes amongst the group. That is, unless the zombie tried to pick a fight with Malachai again. A ridiculous idea trying to challenge a dragon of all things, but the zombie had guts at least.
Morgrim wanted to scoff at that last comment, but avoided making things worse for himself. "Forgive me, but I find that hard to believe. More than half the people had already called me a zombie, or bones, or corpse. I'd like to trust again, but believe me it is going to take time. I'll think about it though." He promised to her that he would try to open up a little to the group, though that was going to be hard, at least for him. He wasn't sure how much the others would trust him, the only evidence that there was hope of something along those lines was that the first one to scream zombie was actually trying to be friendly @SilverFlight
There wasn't much more he had to say at this point really. He was learning just a little bit about everybody at a time. For now it was just time to kick back and enjoy the scenery. He swivelled his body around and used the back of the horses head as a pillow while resting his legs on the back of the stallion, presuming his horse did in fact have any sort of gender defining anatomy, and used the entire beast of burden like a bed. He closed his eyes and listened to the sound of bird calls, and the noise of small pebbles falling of the face of the canyons in small bursts. He was happy for the shade the place provided, but it was the roc Canyon, and this moment of peace could likely be disturbed at any point.
Leo trotted along behind the group as they made their way through the pass. He had heard them mention that it was home to the Roc birds that had been mentioned to them in the city, which intrigued Leo to see birds of their size. Though at the moment he did not see any, but that was mostly dew to the fact that he was watching Otto run around the group in a frenzied excitement with Banba. He chuckled to himself and looked back to where the orange stallion was keeping pace with them. He slowed Bruin down a bit so that the two of them were side by side, keeping his face forward Leo tried to make conversation with the Djinn."This desert is a very unusual place. I am more prone to places with more, life, than this. This temple, what kind of things can we expect to find in there?"
@SilverFlight
Otto had taken to running up ahead of the group as he was almost smashed once or twice by exciting the pack horses. Last he had seen of the lizard girl she was sliding down a dune which Otto had jumped clear off of to get ahead of her. He had heard her call out something about ants and whales, which seriously confused the werewolf. So he did the only logical thing he could thing of and turned around to run up beside Kallin and Luness horses shifting mid stride from four legs to two. "Kallin! Why is an Ant like a Whale?? Banba asked, and I can't figure it out!"
Quincy kept an arrow knocked and her bow half drawn as the situation escalated. But, as suddenly as it started, it ended. She packed up without a word and reluctantly left the dwindling water, glancing back several times after changing forms. She took up a place near Sinbad, as being near the sailor made her feel a little less isolated in a land that held no creature like her. The djini intrigued her, but distrust held her back.
Malachai shook himself back to reality when Achyls snapped. He let out a sigh and turned his attention back to the Longma. He took heed of Kallin as well when he interjected. As he opened the sack to get at the rest of his food he took a moment to think of how far he had come. Before he met the group he would have already been halfway to burning the undead man, taking no notice of anything anyone else had to say. He can feel that he had changed. He smiled a little, at himself and the change that the group had caused in him. Most importantly Achyls. He sat atop his companion and rode alongside Achyls as the group moved on. "I am sorry for my quarreling. I did not mean to jeopardize our mission." He thought out to her, hoping she wasn't too upset. Although he was calmer, he still kept an eye out for anything suspicious coming from the undead mage. He spurred forward to ride closer to the mage with a sigh. He might as well at least learn the mages name if they were going to be traveling together. "So, do you have a name? Or will bones suffice for the remainder of our trip?" He asked in a curious manner. Sarcasm not too far gone from his tone as he watched the silent mage rest on his magic steed.
@SkywardSocks @Morgrim
Takeo smiled at Leia and gave her a nod in understanding what she meant. "So zombies are the one of the few things that freak you out? The person that charged a wyvern with a stone? I think he needs to be the one in fear of you." He said with a small laugh as he kept riding along the desert. When Leia left his side to talk to the zombie, Takeo looked at the undead man with caution. He was still irked by the man, the way he talked, act, and now judged annoyed him quiet a bit. Sighing he shifted his horse to the side so he was once again close to Leia.
"... If he fall off his horse, I will laugh." Takeo warned seeing as the way the man rested as rather foolish, after all if they were suddenly attacked again then he would more likely then not fall off his horse. Sighing Takeo looked on ward a small grin placed on his face before he thought about something. "Hey Leia, I never asked this, but are you from Fablewood or are you from the human world?" Takeo asked mainly making conversation, but he was truly interested.
@SilverFlight
Aliphas glowered at Leo, an expression which looked rather comical on a horse.
"There is much life here, the desert is a more secretive place than your forests and grasslands, which flaunt their life extravagantly...if one knows where to look, it can be found hidden among the sands." He refocused on the guardian as he asked about the temple. His eyes grew dark. "You will find terrible power there, and it will be turned against you...my people could not overcome it...we have only the hope that you will." Here Aliphas may have sounded doubtful. The silver burned his limb, leaving a dark, steaming ring about it, but if the djinn felt pain he did not show it.
@zCrookedz
Kallin still didn't like the stranger's attitude, but he still knew more about undead than they did. Kallin made a mental note to speak more with Morgrim when they next had a break. For now Otto drew his attention and he chuckled.
"I don't think you're meant to." He said sympathetically.
@zCrookedz
"I think I'll fall off before he does." Leia laughed too as Takeo spoke, "Maybe..." When he asked about her being from the real world she looked surprised.
"Of course I am, Oh! Its because of the clothes isn't it? I look like I'm from here, I changed not long after I came to FableWood....skinny jeans and a ripped t-shirt don't exactly make the best monster-fighting outfit. I don't have a personal power per se, I just have these guys." Here she patted the flask where Lee sat sullenly. Leia had collected her from the Oasis before they left. Bob sat in his reduced, guinea-pig-sized form just before the pommel of her saddle and Tad floated overhead.
Just as she finished speaking a spray of sand hit her, fallen from the top of the canyon. She brushed her hair out with a hand. "Dumb wind..." She said, though she sounded nervous.
@Peaceswore
Meria looked around at them. "Shh! We must not make any noise now." She glanced upward nervously. That made Leia nervous. She clamped her mouth shut and waited as they moved slowly through the canyon. Suddenly the hoof falls of the horses sounded like a team of base drums. Leia stole another glance skyward...she could have sworn she saw something move.
They past a few more moments in silence. The canyon walls began to recede, moving back and opening the narrow canyon to a wider gully.
Leia looked about, making sure the skies were clear. She began to relax.
It was just at that moment a screech tore through the silence and a great shadow covered them all.
The horses whinnied and danced and Kallin swore under his breath as an eagle, roughly the size of three elephants pulled out over their heads, its wings blotting out the sun.
The massive bird tilted its head, setting its giant yellow eye upon them. With no effort at all it darted a talon down and reached for the closest mounted figure...Leandra.
"You can call me bones if you want, it doesn't mean I'll like it though. My name is Morgrim. I have to say I am quite impressed by you, you show a great level of restraint." Most dragons would have taken to a fight especially when challenged in anyway spoken clearly or not. Certainly at the death threat he made about turning him into a dracolich. there was more to this dragon, and the entire group then Morgrim first anticipated. He would have to try to get to know them a little better, but when they had time. There was no room for a break with two prisoners, a dark lord possibly looming over the horizon and a water crisis in the desert. "What should I call you? I suppose leather-butt won't do?" @andujarprime
Morgrim was actually one of the first to spot the Roc, since he had his head pointed to the sky, the shadow was the second thing he saw, next to the giant avian body that was creating it. He pulled out one of his only weapons, a blowgun. It was slightly more advance though and could hold a hundred darts at a time with a separate attachment reminiscent of a magazine for a gun. While the dart's had no poison on them initially Morgrim was capable of putting any type of poison on them with use of a highly evolved poison gland in his mouth. Morgrim would coat the darts in his most debilitating poison, but for something so enormous it may only have enough effect to slow it down, and possible ground it. He blew a few darts and they landed right into the Roc's chest and wings. "Let's hope that'll take the beast down. Everyone make sure to get out of the way, it's going to land!" He said loud enough for them all to hear, but not so that roc's beyond the cliffs could hear him. @SilverFlight
Malachai waited for the mage to answer, and as he was waiting he looked out around him. The scenery had changed from open sand dunes to a rocky canyon. The walls pressed in around them, he didn't feel too tight having grown up in cavernous caves. "Well Morgrim, I am called Malachai. As for leather-butt, I have heard worse for sure." He chuckled mostly to himself as he watched the canyon open up. He let out a sigh of relief when the canyon walls began to recede further and further. He felt the danger as he heard the wind whistling and the feathers rustling. He was halfway off of his mount by the time the Roc swooped down and had Leandra in the air. Two seconds later he was away and rolling to the side, coming up in a run. His body swelled and scales sprouted as the roc ascended. By the time the giant eagle was above the canyon line he was in the air, leather wings flapping powerfully creating gusts of sand around him. He jumped onto the canyon walls, climbed several feet then roared as he pushed off into flight. He heard the darts whizzing past him, and watched as the Roc flinched. He crashed into it shortly after, jarring the creature from the impact then clawed it's wing as he pushed away to circle around for the fight.
@Morgrim @Lioness075
Banba giggled as Otto struggled to find the answer to her question. she was going to reveal it when the group was told to be quiet. hearing that, she threw herself at Leo, attaching herself to his arm as her white furred self, gazing about with her big black eyes. she stayed stuck to Leo's arm as the two of the others reacted. when Malachi was locked in battle with it, however, she jumped to the ground, scurrying past the horse hoofs and to the gully walls, where she expertly began climbing, her own scales growing over the white fur. by the time she had reached the top, she was her regular size and shape, with dragon wings attached to her back. the one was scarred, but that didn't stop her from flying just beside the fight, looking for an opportunity to swoop in and attack, or possibly save the girl.
Leandra had rather been enjoying the quiet ride through the canyon. That is, until she heard the bird cry and saw the freaking gargantuan bird flying straight at the group.
Yet, before Leandra could so much as react to it, the bird wrapped one of its claws around her waist and she was suddenly airborne and way too far above the group for her comfort.
Letting out a terrified scream, Leandra then began beating on the bird's claw, though she doubted it felt anything considering the size difference and all. It probably felt like she was poking it.
Anxiously looking around for any potential escape attempts, Leandra suddenly let out a shriek when darts came flying out of no where and struck the Roc. Suddenly angered by how close the darts had been to striking herself, Leandra screamed down at the group, "Watch where you're aiming those things!"
Yet, her anger quickly shifted to absolute terror, as Malachai came flying in with a roar and slammed into the Roc, jostling it and causing it to completely let go of Leandra. Not good.
Plummeting down towards the canyon and the dots that Leandra assumed were her friends down below, Leandra continued to scream, as she flailed about and wondered if her life would start flashing before her eyes.
Suddenly, Leandra was blinded, as white suddenly filled her vision and she shrieked in surprise before she suddenly felt her plummet slowing. Wait, what?
Blinking her eyes to relieve the initial blinding, Leandra soon was blinking again in absolute surprise, as she noted the wings on either side of her body. They also appeared to be beating in the air without skipping a beat. Was Leandra doing that? How was she doing that?
The moment these questions filled her mind, the wings suddenly drooped and she let out a surprised yelp, as she began plummeting again. How did she work these blasted things?!
(Will edit if this isnt okay, just giving Quincy something to do)
Quincy followed behind the other horses, ears pinned slightly. The silver chain from Sinbad dangled around her neck, occasionally bumping against her chest along with her stride. Her nostrils flared slowly, as if every breath was a sad sigh. With every mile, she felt more isolated. As they stepped into the canyon, her ears pricked forward, a nervous snort leaving her. Something was amiss..
Before she could dwell for too long, the source of the feeling revealed itself with a screech. As the Roc swooped, the pack horses whinnied and broke away, running from the grabbing talons. Seeing them go with most of their supplies, Quincy lunged forward, launching into a long-legged gallop after them. It was a struggle to catch them- they were the most magnificent steeds she had ever seen. But if they reached the open desert in a panic, they might never find them.
Silently did Nyr and Arianne follow the others for they had felt something different in the air. It was not something they could explain - they did not even know that the other had the same issues, it was simply the fact that something heavy clouded their minds and their vision.
The dread raven felt as if the world drifted away from her, that everything were but loud noises and blurry pictures. She did not understand what could cause such a distortion in her senses but she reckoned that it had something to do with the proximity of the dark witch who was preparing yet an another war against them.
Slumping in such thoughts she was completely oblivious to threats near her allies. Instinctively she erected faint, weak barriers around everyone for a general protection but that is what she did.
She felt drained... and weak.
Achyls hung back, feeling there was something off with the company. Scanning the area, she noted Nyr drifting in and out of consciousness, with the threat of the Roc hanging above her.
"Sister!" she gasped, pulling her horse back so that she could ride beside her, "Sister, can you hear me?" she attempted a mental link to her, though it appeared nothing would get through. She had to find another way through. Forcing their horses to stop, she helped Nyr to the ground, sitting her down while the others fought only meters away.
"Nyr!" she grabbed her shoulders, looking at her with wide eyes.
@DawnAntalios
Leo trotted along beside the the Djinn and listened to him speak. The way he spoke of the desert and the life it held with such fondness, made Leo understand a bit more about the balance of the desert ever so slightly. It was very interesting to know that even though this place was mostly barren, there was indeed life if yoo merely looked hard enough. When the conversation turned to the temple, Leo listened and began to imagine what kinds of dark things could be lurking there. Sure the group had face more dark creatures than they could count, some of which were the things of nightmares. But the way the Dijinn spoke, sent a chill down Leo's spine. Before He could press the question, the dark shadow of the Roc pressed on them and all hell broke loose. Leo watched as Leandra was taken high and several of the others sent attacks towards the beast, or like Banba and Malachi, took to flight to try and save the girl. Before Leo could make a move however, he heard something else behind him. Turning to see Achyls and Nyr together, and Nyr did not look well. He jumped from Bruins saddle and made his way over to Nyr, looking back and trying to keep up with the fight for Leandra. "Achyls, Nyr, whats wrong. Did one of those birds get to you as well?"
@SkywardSocks @DawnAntalios
Otto scratched at his head as Kallin gave him little advice, but did not dwell on it for to long before shifting back to his four legged form and going back to running beside Banba. When she to shifted to a very small white furry form and jumped to Leo, Otto looked up and watched as the Roc took Leandra. There was not much Otto could do but run back to Luness, shifting to his human form. He did not have a weapon to use against flying creatures, nor did he have wings to go after them. But if one of those nasty birds got close enough, he might be able to get a hold of a leg. What he would do after that, would be more improvised. It was then that Otto saw some of the pack horses had taken off and Quincy had gone after them. Otto wasted no time, shifting into his four legged form again and tore across the sand after the herd of panicking horses. What Otto lacked in the upper body strength of most wolves, he made up for in speed, allowing him to keep a pace with the horses when he caught up Quincy and them. Otto yelped as loud as he could to let Quincy know he was there to help wrangle the horses if she had a plan.
@Flutterby
Nyr felt the haze increasing as the Roc neared, every flap of its wings acted as a deafening wave of sound which pierced her mind, feeling unrelenting pain coursing through her body. She could barely sit still in the saddle and she felt that in any moment she could fall down from her steed as her strength waned from her body.
It was in this moment when she felt gentle but firm hands grabbing her, helping her off the horse. As she felt her feet touching solid ground the voices around her started to clear up. At first she only heard a distant cry of a familiar, loved voice. This forced the girl to concentrate, she wanted to actually hear that voice clearly. As she closed her eyes and forced the darkness to recede from her her vision started to clear up. Now she saw clearly that it was Achyls who helped her and that Leo hurried to them as well.
" Wha- What happened? " she said as if she was waken from a long slumber " Sister? Leo? I... I feel enervated... the power of darkness grows... something is not right. "
She tried to clear up her mind even further and shook her head. Only now did she realized how frightened the others must be.
" I... I am sorry that I made you worry. I can not explain what this is... it is as if something had drained my very soul. "
She looked up, hearing the cries of the massive bird, seeing as it was battling her companions as she frowned.
" But it seems my weakness is the least of our worries now... " she forced herself into a weak - but firm - combat stance and signaled that she was ready. " I will not stay back... No matter how greatly diminished my powers are... "
@SkywardSocks @zCrookedz
The beast screeched in anger as it dropped its prey, pivoting to slash at the dragon with razor sharp talons, in doing this a broad wing the side of the tenacity came swooping around in Banba's direction. The poison darts fell into its feathers, only several burying into skin.
Leia yelled as Leandra fell from its grasp, only to shield her eyes and squeak in surprise as she saw wings sprouting from the girl's back. "Holy cow!"
The Roc's eyes shifted to Morgrim and as it beat its wings for more height a massive torrent of wind rushed into the canyon with the force of a hurricane.
"Tad!" Leia cried before she was blown bodily off her horse. She hit the dirt and shielded her face as sand and rock whipped about her, luckily Nyr's weak barrier protected her from any serious injuries.
Kallin raised his staff, a glyph appeared on the ground beneath his mount and from it a new force of wind appeared. Together with Tad he combined his cyclone and forced it against the powerful blasts from the Roc's wings. For a brief moment the wind about the heroes died, held back by the wind spirit and the mage. Kallin caught sight of Leandra struggling and was able to send a gust to right her. "Flap Leandra! And don't hit the canyon walls!"
Suddenly Kallin began to feel a tingling in his limbs.
"Oh skies...not now!" The surge of chaotic energy erupted from his body's core. His horse whinnied in surprise and reared, casting him from the saddle. Red lightning flew from him this time, not content with staying near, it leapt out to sear the rock walls and set fire to some of the supplies.
Kallin cried out in pain, his spell melted away into nothing, leaving a surprised Tad to be overcome by the wind. The wind spirit whistled in dismay as it was blown head over tail and slammed into a wall.
In the wake of the damage done the bird landed, spreading its massive wings threateningly and screeching at them. Then with one talon it reached out to try and grab another.
Merias had changed back into her mist form and taken cover as Sinbad ran to one of the packs.
"You are the famous sailor yes? I thought you've fought this beast before!"
"I rode it, I never fought the blighted thing! Any ideas would be welcome!"
@Aldur Forgehammer
Leo looked over Nyr and saw no physical wounds, but she sounded not well at all. He wasn't sure if there was anything he could do for her in the heat of battle at the moment, especially if it involved her darker powers. All he could do was simply help her regain whatever energy she had lost so she could stand and move. Leo closed his eye and placed his hand on her back, before opening them wide. For a split second, the flashed green as Leo surged some of his own energy into her to help her. As she stood and readied herself, Leo to stood and observed the battle. The giant bird had landed, giving those who could not fly the ability to strike. He looked up to see Leandra and her fall, Leo looked to Achyls with a stern expression. "Achyls! Can you help Leandra?"
@DawnAntalios @SkywardSocks @Lioness075
Leo looked back to the beast and snarled. He didn't want to leave Nyr alone in her state, but if this was not ended soon things could be much worse. Leo watched as Kallins red lightning struck the rock around them, which then gave Leo an idea. He bolted towards the giant bird, equipping his war ax as he ran. As the birds claw reached out to grab another, Leo dodged to the side of the wall and looked ahead for a ledge. He lept, finding his footing was a bit better with his claws trying to dig into the rock face before immediately jumping off the wall to try and take the bird from above and hopefully pin it down some how.
@SilverFlight
Quincy drew even with the pack horses. Had they been average horses, she would have caught them in a heartbeat. But their speed stretched hers to it's limit. She heard a familiar yelp behind her, and brushed Otto's mind with her own. She sent him an image of herself getting in front of the group and turning them back down the canyon and away from open desert. In her mind, Otto stayed behind and held the horses where they turned until they could be calmed. Hopefully, he would understand. Her mind switched from Otto to the horses. In their panic, their minds pushed her out, but the mental distraction slowed them enough for her to draw ahead. She stretched out her stride for a few moments, putting barely a length between her and the others. And then, at a narrow point in the canyon, she slid to a sudden stop and blocked the path with her body. Squealing loudly, she snaked her head at the speeds careening toward her, praying they would stop.
Luness was baffled and beyond surprised at the size of the Roc when it finally made its appearance. Uselessly gaping at it while it swooped down and grabbed Leandra, Luness finally shook her head to come back to reality when the Roc was way beyond her reach and flying above the canyon with Malachai charging after it.
Blinking, Luness dismounted from her startled and terrified horse, keeping a tight grip on its reins so it wouldn't go anywhere. Uncertain of how to calm her horse, Luness attempted to make a cooing sound while petting its neck and trying to calm the poor thing.
Hearing someone screaming, Luness suddenly glanced skyward in time to see Leandra's wings making their appearance, causing her to look away sharply while blinking in pain from the sudden and rather blinding white wings that had just suddenly appeared.
Yet, not a second later, the gusts of wind from the Roc's massive wings kicked in and Luness let out a surprised shriek, as she flew backwards from her horse and effectively let go of its reins, letting it run away in a panic. Though the horse didn't get far before it stumbled with the wind and slammed its side into the wall of the canyon.
Meanwhile, Luness was lifted off of her feet and slammed her back into the wall of the canyon before slumping down and gritting her teeth, as she knew she'd have a sizable bruise on her back after that.
Yet, hearing Kallin cry out, Luness quickly looked up in time to see the chaos magic erupting from Kallin while he fell from his mount. Forcing herself back to her feet despite the overbearing winds from the Roc, Luness soon was stumbling towards Kallin just after the chaos magic lashed out at the canyon walls around him and scared his mount away.
Just as the bird landed and the winds died down, Luness reached Kallin's side and she dropped to her knees before quickly looking Kallin over with a worried expression and asking him, "Are you okay, Kal? Is there anything I can do to help?" With her focus entirely on Kallin in the moment, Luness was entirely open to any incoming attacks.
@SilverFlight
~~~~~

Leandra continued to feebly attempt to flap her new wings, but they continued to seemingly ignore her. Weren't they just more muscles for her to control? Why weren't they working?!

Hearing Kallin shouting up at her to flap, as if she weren't already feebly attempting to do so, and warning her to avoid the canyon walls, Leandra was more so surprised when a gust of wind suddenly struck her and her wings both flared out on either side of her. This immediately sent her into a rather peaceful glide, albeit a shaky one, as she began to descend back towards the group. Yet, the peacefulness didn't last long, as she neared the ground and was suddenly struck by one of the harsh gusts of winds from the Roc.

Letting out a surprised shriek, Leandra suddenly lucked sideways, striking one of her wings and her shoulder into the canyon wall, before flying back out towards the group and straight into...Leo, who happened to be mid-jump at the moment.

As Leandra crashed to the ground with Leo, she then quickly rolled off of him and fell back onto her butt, as she cursed herself and quickly shoved her shoulder back into place. Not her best, first attempt at flying, that was for sure.

Focusing on her wing muscles again, Leandra grinned when she managed to get one of them to fold up against her back, though the other one caused her a bit of pain upon doing so. Slamming her wings into canyon walls was probably not a good idea.

Scowling at this and leaving her injured wing to limply sit in the sand beside her, Leandra then glanced over at Leo and gave him a half-hearted smile before saying, "Sorry, I, um, definitely didn't mean to do that."

Feeling the winds dying down around her, Leandra glanced over upon feeling the ground shaking, and almost falling onto her back, to see the Roc had landed and was now aiming to attack the group once more. Great.

Takeo. had no clue what to do, he saw the giant bird come out of no where and attack one of his comrades, only to be attacked as well and force to drop. Where then the said comrade grew wing...but she didn't seem experienced in them. Then in a flash the creature attacked another before retreating into the air. "Oh...Crap baskets. Burst, I need you to lay down." He muttered, the horse let out a whine before doing as she asked and laying down on the hot sand. With haste he wrapped his arms around the horses neck seconds before the harsh wind hit him. He buried his head in the horses main and kept a firm grip so he wouldn't fly off and crash into who knows what.

He and his horse stayed there for a good time when the winds finally died down and the sound of the creature landing was evident in his ears. Coughing at the sand that had covered him and his horse, he took a few deep breaths. "Stand." He said as he gave a small tug to the reins, and once again the horse listened and stood up. Sand falling off their body Takeo looked around to see if there was anything he could do other then stand their like an idiot.

After taking a quick glance he saw that Leo could use some help, if he was able to distract the Rok from the Lion that may help a bit. Taking a deep breath he made Burst face the bird before whipping the reins which made the horse run fast toward the Rok. "Let's go! Hiya!" He shouted urging Burst to move faster in which she did.

As he neared the massive beast Leo did the jump and Takeo was closing in, however before Leo could actually strike the beast, the winged girl flew right into him. ".... That happened." He said finding he it was a bit too late to run away seeing as the Rok had it's eyes on him Takeo a deep breath and drew his sword. When the Rok reared up a bit to try and smash Takeo like a pancake he quickly changed the horses course just in time. The talon came crashing to the earth a bit close to him making sand fly every where. The loud noise of the attack sadly frightened Burst and she reared up buckling Takeo (who had been temporary blinded) off her back before she sprinted away toward the group.

When Takeo was buckled off he landed right on top of the Rok's talon. "Oh...... Double crap baskets." He mumbled as he still had a firm grip on his sword, and not seeing any good way out of this deadly situation he took a deep breath. Placing the sword in his mouth he jumped up and grabbed the feathers around the talon getting a firm grip on the soft long feathers, and with that he climbed. He prayed to every god he ever learned about hoping the bird wouldn't just take off or use it's other claw to throw him off.

He kept climbing at a really good speed, glad he had done that dare to climb the tallest tree in his town...which he got stuck in...and almost died in... That's another story! The point is he moved very quickly, and when he got to underneath the knee of the Rok he took his sword and with a tight grip aimed to plunge the thing to it's hilt in this soft part of the Rok.

Achyls frowned at Leo, her eyes narrowed with annoyance.

"Leave my sister? I..." she stopped and turned to see the others being tormented by the Roc. She knew she had to do what was necessary, and left Nyr's side.

"Leandra!" she hollered, landing beside her with light feet. Staring at the girl's wings for a moment, she wondered what caused a human to end up in such a way. It was a marvel to see wings so much like hers, yet so much lighter. This was not the time. Without so much as a word, she pulled herself into the sky, the harsh breeze blowing her about. Her hands heated up with energy, prepared to aim at an enemy if one were to attack.

Banba didnt know where she could enter the fray, she had no chance of attacking. and when the girl was dropped, she couldn't get to her in time. she didnt need to, though, as she sprouted wings. letting out a burst of air, Banba turned back to the bird, only to be scared by a flash of red lighting. she plummeted, her wings barely catching air to slow her fall in time. firmly on the ground, Banba stared at the fires the lightning had caused. she was so concentrated on them she barely notice the breeze until it sent her backwards, flying tail over head into the sand. immediately, though, she started to gather sand in her shirtfront, running to the fires left and throwing the particles over the flames, desperately trying to put them out.

Leo was blind sided to say the least by the very abrupt entrance of Leandra and her newly winged form. But instinct told him that once she had struck him to hold on to whatever it was and simply roll out of the way. Once the pair had returned to the ground, Leo herd Achyls come over and say Leandra's name. He shook the sand from his mane and looked up to see Leandra trying to fold in her wings. Leo got to his knees and crouched over Leandra as he reached out to touch the injury on her wing. "No worries my dear, I am pleased you are not injured any more than this." With a quick energy use, the wound on Leandra's wing should heal back to its normal state. Afterwards Leo turned back to the Roc seeing Takeo beginning an assault. He looked behind to where his war ax had landed and as the winds died down he spoke once more to Leandra before charging back after the beast. "Stay low, and if you can, keep your wings tucked in so you don't get blown away." Leo charged back towards the Roc which he hopped was to distracted by Takeo's ankle bitter technique to notice the large Lion figure charging at him with his war ax poised to strike across its breast when he got close enough.

Otto was panting heavily now, this was the fastest he had ever run in his life. He could only just keep up with the horses tails and even that was struggling. When he felt Quincy brushing his mind he gladly let her imposes on him, he was used to it having been around Leo for so long. He gave her another yip as he understood his role to play. Luckli he was jsut about in the position she wanted him anyways. He made himself head for the middle of the rear where he could see all the horses and watched as Quincy made her move as well. Otto watched as the horses began to throw on the rear brakes once they realized the pathway was blocked by Quincy, and Otto being behind them cut them off from turning around and going back before they could calm down. Otto kept his distance, the last thing he wanted was to be smooshed into the sand by a horse, hoping that they would calm themselves.
