The door opened and another student entered. Aaron recognized her from the servo motors at her joints as Viola, the inventor of her own medical devices for mobility. He resisted, just barely, the urge to get up and pull out a seat for her and instead waited for her to seat herself. While waiting, he also chided himself for even feeling the urge. Her dignity must be respected, and furthermore held to higher value than outdated social mores about 'helping' people with 'handicaps' (so called.)</p>

<p>

He knew that, in his heart, but old urges die hard. Happily he was rewarded for his waiting with another perspective! Someone has been reading Kant's moral philosophy in her spare time it seems. Interesting that she gives respect to the alleged murderer, but not to Alexis. An issue of Socio-Economic Status perhaps? Perhaps she needs to read her Rousseau more closely. As his inner thoughts chased each other in circles round his brain, outwardly he was careful to give no sign of them. He put a chin to his hand, looking thoughtful and cocked his head toward the remaining two.</p>

Ioana felt satisfied. The little bundle of angst burst. A smile that showed some teeth could be seen on her face. She crossed her arms and acted as if she never heard the threats. Her attention shifted instead to the teacher and his interesting question. Ioana had no idea honestly so she kept quiet.

Of course, Alexis barked out an equally interesting answer.
"Too many wannabes and psychos." Now there's a word Ioana heard often. So often, in fact, that she had grown fond of it. "Psycho bitch" had a really nice ring to it, if you looked past the obvious insult. The teacher barely had a reaction. Smart. He didn't give Alexis the satisfaction of having provoked a powerful reaction.

The silence had been broken by another student entering the room. This one was Viola. Ioana noticed she gave a nod to her. This mildly surprised her, prompting her eyebrows to shoot up. She gave a subtle wave and a faded simper. Mr. Mallory was now looking at Ioana's general direction. She did need to answer his question, didn't she? After a second of thinking, she finally responded.

"My perspective is a little blurry..." She said lowering her gaze. "I remember that quite a few war vets and soldiers are regarded as heroes for killing as many of their enemies as they could." Her attention resurfaced towards the teacher with a newfound look of confidence. "I remember a story about a Finnish marksman who had 505 kills under his belt. The Russians nicknamed him the "White Death" and he got a medal for his troubles. A cold blooded killer...
just like me." The last part was barely audible, her gaze lowering once again as she finished her sentence

On Sevan's first day of school, she had been pretty damn late getting to school. As a result of that she had basically missed her first class - or would have if the teacher had ever been heard from again. When she got picked up later that day the same guards were there, where they told her the story about how they got in trouble for the whole thing. Sevan could only roll her eyes. They got in trouble because of Baltimore traffic; something that wasn't entirely in their control. She wasn't their biggest fan, but that just sounded ridiculous. Then again, it wouldn't have surprised Sevan in the slightest if the higher ups of the place were all shitheads.

In an attempt to correct their mistake, the next morning they had left earlier than they had the day before. Nevermind that the classes started at ungodly hours on a weekend already, which made the majority of their efforts moot in point and progress, but it wasn't like she had a say in the matter. So there Sevan had been, getting dropped off at Facility 108... just short of an hour early. Being late was something Sevan didn't mind being. Being early was beyond annoying in so many ways. The two guards just apologized, suggested she use the time to really get use to the layout of the grounds, then bid her another good day and drove off.

Idiots, both of them.

For the hour of spare time she had Sevan did do some wandering. She stepped through the nearly empty halls, though the sounds of creaky pipes had kept her company. That and the irritating noise coming from one room in particular. Was that suppose to be some kind of music? Whoever that was needed to be shot. At some point though she moved away from that, and found her some stairs to get to the roof of the main building. There she had spent the time almost literally chilling. Sevan hadn't exactly had a wardrobe for every season before and still didn't have one now; unless she wanted to wear some of that incredibly fashionable inmate wear. Despite the freezing cold nature of the outdoors, it was still better than sitting around inside. Unfortunately (depending on who you ask) the roof didn't have a clock to help her keep time. By the time she had gotten up and down the stairs to her classroom, she was more than a handful of minutes late.

Sevan stepped through the door with her air of dismissal already in effect. Giving an apology would just call more attention to herself than she knew was going to be on her, and she wasn't the kind of person to give apologies for something like this in the first place. She didn't look around to make eye contact with anyone there, as she didn't need to in the first place. Seeing people as they passed into her peripheral was enough for her to get a read on a person - limiter on or not. A form swathed in some kind of constantly shifting darkness. A girl with reddish hair and some rather shiny parts. A fair haired chick with some shiny parts as well, though they were mostly focused on her face, making Sevan tongue one of her snake bites subconsciously. Another with dark hair, the scent of burning sealed wood permeating the air around her. Lastly... a catgirl who was occupying the seat she was hoping to snatch.

Welp, that was a new one.

With a huff of annoyance, Sevan instead moved to the other back corner of the room, dropped her bag and dropped into a slouch in her seat. She hadn't asked if anything was going on, but as Edgelord von Metal Face started talking, she started to get somewhat of an idea as to what.
"Great, some morality talk," she muttered to herself. Sevan had been tempted to tune it out until the teacher addressed her, and that would have indeed been the plan if not for the whisper that came from the chick at the end. Yeah, enhanced senses could grab you nice little tidbits here and there. That was when Sevan slid her gaze over to actually look at someone in the room, speaking to herself once more as she did. "Of course I'd get a weekend class with at least one crazy."

Turning her eyes towards the front of the room, Sevan stuffed her hands into her pockets, slid a little further into her seat and simply waited for what was up next.

@s @Manic Muse @CloudyBlueDay @Aldur @Giyari @Suzuki Mine

Way to cut right to the heart of things, thought Aaron. Death is an intimate part of their business, and whether any of the others know that yet, this one does. Hero or villain, it is part of the human condition to decide which side of that line to fall on,sooner or later, and nobody escapes crossing it unscathed, only, perhaps, alive. Whether killing is good or evil too, is largely a matter of perspective. To this young woman though, that question is clearly irrelevant. Her experiences weigh heavily on her, as no doubt they did on Simo Häyhä, the sniper she referred to in her answer. Aaron had heard of him before, and often wondered if the medals had made it any easier. Somehow he doubted it.

Just then the classroom door popped open and another student slunk to the other seat at the extreme back of the room. Her body language was so clear a signal of adolescent “don't talk to me” as to nearly have its own gravitational field, but if she was to be included, he would have to speak now, as much as she would clearly prefer that he stay quiet.

Welcome Sevan. Don't be shy. We are just discussing whether there is any such thing as a hero or a villain, and how to tell them apart if such things exist. So far we have: There is no such thing and I am full of shit. There are as many different definitions as there are people. There is a question on the floor as to what, if anything, this has to do with collateral damage. The perspective was offered that heroes primarily act out of altruism while villains act out of self interest alone. Finally, just as you came in, Ioana brought up the presumption of heroism being related to successful killing in war situations, and indirectly raised the question of whether a medal is adequate recompense for the psychological cost of repeated killing. Is that a fair summary?”

Following this eruption, Aaron returned to his quiescent state. Waiting.

FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIE

Y E S T E R D A Y

Eden, Leon

Swinging both doors open, Eden strolled out of the facility's main building. Each time his foot struck the ground, Ward's advice resounded in his skull.
If you don't have anywhere to be, I'd suggest not wasting your life here—you'll regret not using it better. In a spontaneous decision, he took the words to heart and set off for the city. Though he didn't yet know what he would do, the day was bright and brimming with possibility. He swallowed the frigid air, feeling it circulate through his body and breathe life into him. The Great Unknown. He smiled.

Arriving at the gate, a stern, hard-jawed man stood in front of a car with the classic orange A on the side. An Aegis car. As Eden grew closer, he adjusted his suit, as black as the car, and stared at him with formal eyes. The agent motioned rigidly to stop him, asking, “Are you Eden Trammel?” His deep voice vibrated in his ears.

“Uh, yeah, what's up?” Eden's fingers raked through his hair subconsciously.

“We would like to request you to assist us. We're currently detaining a certain person and would like him to join Aegis's training program, but he refuses to listen to us. After a background check, we saw that you had some connection to him. Do you remember a Leon R. Gray?”

Leon. The name punched him in the gut and almost sent him reeling backward onto the ground. “Holy sh—sorry, but Leon?

“Yes. Would you be willing to cooperate?”

Picturing their reunion sent explosive shivers down Eden's back. It was likely that Leon harbored darkness toward him potent enough to kill. However, against all logical reasoning, his mouth let loose a “Hell yeah,” and he was inside of the car and on his way to meet an old, old friend.

t i m e s k i p

With a click of a door handle, he stepped back into the frigid Baltimore air.

“We're here,” the second agent stated. Opening the door to a shockingly unassuming house, he followed the black suits through narrow hallways and a lovely kitchen and dining area to a small door in the corner. They opened it and ducked under the frame, revealing a frightening new room.

The room was compact and engulfed in an intimidating rusty gray. Being lit only by a flickering light, Eden could notice the atmosphere pressing down on his body. In the middle, a jarring scene was spread out in front of him. A short, standard bed rocked and shivered as a gruff, black-haired boy struggled to escape, strapped tightly to it.
Leon.

Eden glanced over his shoulder to the agents, but they were already gone and the door was closed, leaving behind only a murderous silence. Facing him, he smiled embarrassedly and said, “Well, shit. Hey, Leon. Remember me?”

Leon heard the door open and sat his head up the best he could, the light from the doorway blinding him for a moment. "About time, it's be-." He stopped and grew real quiet when his eyes adjusted with the closing of the door. "Well, shit. Hey, Leon. Remember me? Remember me? Remember me?" The words echoed in his mind as he thought back to that day, the day he almost died.

The past...

Leon ran across the street and into the bank, throwing a rock into the middle of the room. It exploded and sent everyone into a panic. "Nobody move, I'm taking the money in the vault. Try and stop me and I'll blow you to pieces." He touched a nearby table and it exploded, sending people cowering away from Leon, who pushed passed everyone to the vault door behind the teller counter. As people evacuated he blew the vault door off its hinges and entered, stealing as much as he could fit in the duffel bag.

Once it was full he ran outside and around a back alley toward the street behind the bank, cops arriving out front and pursuing him on foot while more units came around to cut him off. Leon exited the alley to find his getaway wasn't there. Surrounded, he used his powers to ignite the pavement and create a smoke screen, but the cops open fired and Leon was hit in the chest.

The present...

A crooked smirk came to Leon's face and a strange gleam in his eyes. "Hey buddy, they bring you here to kill me?"

"No, no, just to talk." Eden shuffled over to the bed, struggling under the weight of the past. It pressed down on his body and filled the air, making it harder to breathe. Taking a short sigh, he met his eyes. "Before we do any of the talking and shit, I'm uh... I'm sorry about what happened. But I still don't regret what I did."

"Ancient history man, what happened happened." Leon pulled against the bed still trying to break the straps that held him, huffing softly. "You wanna help me out? This conversation would be better face to face. Plus, I think I'm getting bed sores." A false smile framed his face hiding his true intentions of escaping as soon as he was free, his eyes locked on Eden's features. It had been a long time since that day. but Leon still harbored some resentment for being left behind.

A moment passed before Eden cracked a smile. "You know I know you enough to know you're lying. Worth a shot, though."

"Yea, well. You'de have done it too if you were strapped to this damn best." Leon had stopped struggling and was staring straight at Eden, the fake smile long gone from his face. "Don't know why they brought your ass in here to talk me down. Don't they know what you did?

Eden squatted down on the ground so he was slightly lower than eye level with Leon. "I don't know, but I volunteered, anyway, so it doesn't matter." It was a lie, but it was the only way to begin to rebuild their shattered trust. "I know I'm being an ass for just showing up after all this, but I really never wanted all this to happen. It's just that—I just couldn't go with you. It wasn't worth it. I thought maybe we'd still hang out or join back up together after, but I didn't... Well, whatever. I'm sorry about everything."

"Maybe I'm just being an ass, but almost dyin can have that effect on you." Leon motioned toward the straps on his wrists the best he could. "Remove these straps and let me show you how much I want to rekindle what we had." This came out like a threat, intended to be one.

Eden shook his head. "I'm not gonna take those off. Listen, there's a hell of a lot I want to talk about right now, but I know I can't just make up for everything. Got any injuries on you?"

"Do I look injured to you?" Leon snorted in a hostile tone. "Whatever, say what you want to say. Not like I'm going anywhere."

"Fine, whatever, then." Eden drew in a long breath, closing his eyelids, before releasing the air and opening them with a surge of determination. "Alright. I know you probably think Aegis changed me, and... Well, I guess it has. But really, trust me, I'm not some shitty ass...
machine for them. All that time I was running, I was so scared. It was fucking terrifying. Not because we didn't know if we'd be free tomorrow—or even if we'd be alive, honestly. What scared me the most is that I just didn't even know who I was. I just... I just felt so angry and sad and messed up and I didn't even know why. My dad was always so mad at me, but he still tried his best. But I just left him! And I put my mom through so much shit by making her follow me. I could've fucking killed her!

"At some point, I just couldn't run anymore, you know? I was just so tired of everything. So I went to Aegis, and they put this fucking thing around my wrist," he said, tugging at the sleek limiter, "and just pushed me into Training Facility 108. Sounds fucking disgusting, doesn't it? I hated it at first; I wanted to go back to being free, not needing to listen to anyone. But, like... as I kept going to the facility, I got better, and I made some friends, and... I don't know, things just started making sense, I guess, and it felt like it was worth it, you know? All this.

"I didn't really change that much since going to '108. I just found who I was supposed to be, I guess. Trust me, I'm not some lapdog for them. As soon as I finish up with my training, I'm gonna do things
my way." He grinned knowingly, like he was talking to his friend again. "And I'm excited for it. But listen, man... you gotta just stop running. Things just don't fucking get better—we always think they will, but they never do. You're always gonna feel the same, and things are always gonna be shitty. But if I knew you at all from all that time we lived together, I know you'll be able to get out of the hole you're in. I'm not gonna say some bullshit thing like 'oh, Aegis will help you,' because I'm not like that. I just know that you can use it to figure things out. And that's all I'll say."

Leaning into Leon's ear, he whispered, "There's two agents outside. One seemed normal, but I don't know about the other one, so be alert." He began fumbling with the straps, continuing to speak through his work. "You should hit me a few times before leaving so it seems like you overpowered me. That way, I don't get blamed, and if they capture you again, they can try to bring in other people with connections to you without being worried that they'll release you, so you can escape again. Isn't this great? You get to beat me up
and get the fuck out of here."

It was a gamble. However, Eden knew the only way for Leon to change was if he released him. Otherwise, he could've just been another person spouting elegant lies at him. If there was any way he would be able to get Leon to return to society, he knew he had to risk his own life.

It was a gamble. But that's what Eden Trammel was known for.

Just like old times.

Leon refused to look Eden in the eyes as he gave his speech, his pride and anger from the past made it hard to let things go. But, as Eden continued to talke Leon felt something inside, like a spring popping in his chest. Eden was so upfront and scincere that it broke through the walls Leon had up all these years running. He closed his eyes for a moment to fight off tears when Eden spoke of not knowing who he was because Leon felt the same way. It had been so long since the last time they spoke and all the anger Leon held inside made it difficult to trust people and let go of the past.

When he felt Eden undo his wrist straps he sat up quietly and unded the ones on his ankles, pulling himself so he sat sideways on the table faceing Eden. In the blink of an eye Leon picked Eden up by the collar of his shirt and pushed him against the door ratherforcefully, using their combined body weight to keep the guards out momentaraly. "I'm sorry." Leon muttered under his breath before gently embracing his friend, united once more after such a long time. "You know me, always holdin grudges. I'll comeback to AEGIS with you, if only for a short while." He released Eden and back away holding his hands up in a none threatening way so the guards didn't attack him as they barreled into the room. "Relax guys, not like I have the power to kill you right now anyway." Leon laughed dryly and out his hands down, looking toward his friend for direction. "So, what now?"

Grinning from ear to ear, Eden restrained a few tears in the back of his eyelids. "Well, I guess let's get started, then."

T O D A Y

Groaning, Eden hoisted his body up and rubbed his eyes. With a great deal of exertion, he turned his body around and dragged himself out of bed and found his way into the kitchen, pouring a bowl of cereal for both himself and Leon. As the morning fog wore off on his brain, he began to remember what happened yesterday. Having lunch, enrolling Leon in Aegis, applying for a student apartment and crashing there... Memories of the night, however, were still smudged. Did they drink?

As Eden tied his shoes, he shouted across the apartment, "We should probably get going. I'm supposed to be at the Baltimore Zoo at 10, so you could go with me there, if you want." Once they were both thoroughly ready, he slapped a black cap over his pink hair and opened the door to leave.

t i m e s k i p

Meandering around the zoo's entrance, Eden noticed a group of familiar faces and jogged up to them. "Sorry we're a bit late," he said. "I'm Eden."

The Q-tip seemed quite disaster prone... didn't he? Despite his irate ambiance, she was tempted to help him up after he had fallen. As amusing as it was to watching someone in flail about in such a manner, he did at least answer her question. At the very least, she did successfully hide a amused smirk at the scene. Her attention shifted as a biker chick lady approached... the woman seemed to know their names, so was probably with Aegis. She certainly had a cool and slightly intimidating look about her, then again she was still quite uneasy about anyone from this Aegis lot. After... get a bunch of hormonal teenagers with potentially destructive powers trying to pass themselves off as normal and put them in one place with only a handful of trained supers to watch over them. Victoria wasn't exactly approving of such "lenient" methods... but then again... since she was now in that same boat, it shouldn't be something to complain about. Except for the fact she still felt that one wrong word to the wrong student would have one trying to break her in twain. (Though that wouldn't stop her from saying that wrong word)

"Ma'am." She said in response to the red haired leather clad woman. Victoria didn't know her name, so she figured it was a safe enough greeting. Though there wasn't much time before she caught something else from the corner of her narrow field of vision. A tall girl, who seemed nice enough and Vicky couldn't help but give a little smile a wave back. Maybe not everyone was so bad. She should at least try to be more social. "Hi there." She said to the tall girl before her attention once again.

To be honest, it was kind of a pain in the neck trying to look from one thing to another. Literally. She had to turn her whole head each time, since wearing the limiter was like wearing the ugly redheaded child of binoculars and scuba googles.(exaggeration) That said... it really wasn't too hard for her to miss the black limousine and the oddly dressed woman whom it had spawned. The fact that she was even barefoot in this weather made her shiver. Her greeting seemed cheerful enough, and this indeed seemed to be the one in charge of this event. She tried not to entertain the thought of what a seemingly rich person would know about community service... instead, she replied with a simple
"Yes, ma'am." To confirm her C ranking... which was a triad she didn't want to think about right now lest it spoil her day. She did at least now had some names to match the faces here so she wouldn't entirely look like an idiot by continuously asking for introductions.

"Ms. Huang. Pardon my asking but... um... what will we be doing at the Zoo?" Victoria asked, hoping for a confirmation on whether or not shovels would be involved. This followed by a slight cringe as the sweaty breathless teen greeted the group. Freaks... even if she shared the sentiment, it wasn't something she liked to be reminded of. Prick. He was soon followed by creepy looking man and another boy... and a punky pink haired boy. She had actually seen him around, that kind of color stuck out... which begged the question of how she had managed to not have seen short stuff until now.

"Hey. I'm Victoria." She said in response, as of now one introduction warranted anouther... God... her introduction sounded so flat and repetitive in her head, like she was some broken record with nothing of value to say. Or, god forbid, shy. Way to make good impressions, Vick...Though it was probably better than her first thought of saying 'Wow, your hair is really pink.'

For some reason, whenever Luci's parents went somewhere on the weekend, they took their children with them. Today wasn't any exception, except that his younger brother Draco had a party, so he could blessedly stay home. The downside to that was that Luci and Narcissa now had to spend the whole day together, and they were arguing again. Or well, what passed for it with them, which was actual icy silence. "Sweeties, we're dropping you at the mall, since it's so close, okay?" His mother pulled Luci out of his reverie. The car had slowed, and they had entered the parking garage. His father looked around for a spot to park, and his mother aimed her fierce gaze at Narcissa, who didn't look up from her phone. "Look out for Luci, okay?" She turned to look at Luci, but looked away and looked at the head rest behind him instead, and he glowed brighter in shame. "Don't give your sister any trouble, okay?" Their father had finally found a spot, and they pulled into it. He looked back at them, and even locked eyes with Luci. "And have fun too, okay?"

The car had stopped, and Narcissa and Luci got out. As soon as the doors closed again, their parents left again, of to their convention or whatever. Narcissa walked away immediately, still looking at her phone, and Luci jogged to catch up. She noticed him following her, and sighed but didn't comment. The tapping at her phone didn't stop as they walked into the mall proper. Luci looked around him, awed as always at the size and bustle of the place. He noticed the people staring and whispering, maybe even pointing as they noticed his light, and he flashed brighter in shame. His sister looked around the mall too, but not to see the place, but like she was looking for something or someone. "Look Nightlight, I'm hanging out with my friends, so you can do whatever." With that, she sashayed off, quickly mixed with the crowd like Luci never would. He was about to follow her when a scream pierced the air from the other side of the mall. Torn between staying with his sister or not giving her trouble and finding out what the scream was, Luci ran towards the scream.

The crowd didn't split for him, like it always seemed to do in the movies. Instead, Luci felt like a salmon swimming upstream, battling the current of humans. It seemed like the masses moved to block him, illogical as that was. Instead, he would have gotten there easier if he had moved to the side, and in between people, but Luci had picked his direction and moved straight toward it. A sick hope inside him wanted it to be trouble, just so he could see some action and save the day, but he pushed that aside and continued moving forward.

Denzil de Klerk

Location: Home -> Facility front hall

Group: Spooky Scary Skeletons

Mood: Cold and hurting

@'s: @Necessity4Fun

Denzil's day didn't start off well. For one, he woke up to his back-up alarm clock, so he was already running half an hour late. As soon as he was dressed, he watered his plants, giving each a gentle and loving touch. From several he picked flowers to put in his hair. He ended up with Paper Daphne and several kinds of Hellebore, and the flowers rejoiced in the close contact with him, and he rejoiced in their contact. The slow movement around his apartment as he made sure all his plants were cared for, combined with how late he woke up made sure Denzil was running late. He quickly ate some cereal, and stuffed last night's left overs in his bag as lunch. Hopping to put on his shoe, Denzil locked his door behind him and jumped on his bike.

The first few turns were calmly taken, but as the pressure of arriving late mounted, Denzil pushed his pedals harder and stopped slowing down for corners. He smiled as he remembered racing to high school across frosty bikepaths in The Netherlands, and how little had changed, despite how much had changed. The moment of remembrance cost him though, as he took the next corner too fast and too sharply. The pain was a sharp shock, and Denzil had to bite back several curses. The slush seeped through his lonely pair of gloves, and stung in the abrasions on his palms. Still, it could have been worse, he hadn't hit his head after all. With a sigh, Denzil heaved himself up, and pulled up his bike. Another stroke of luck, since his bike wasn't the slightest bit damaged.

With another sigh, Denzil stepped back on after checking that his flowers hadn't fallen out. The rest of the way to the Facility was taken at a more serene pace, and when he arrived at school, it was definitely past ten. Deciding again to take the safe route, Denzil put his bike near the gate and walked the rest of the path to the entrance. As soon as he stepped inside he sighed, the warmth already a calming influence. Taking in the blessed warmth, Denzil noticed a girl sitting on the floor like she was waiting for something. Wait, wasn't that the girl he'd lent his other pair of gloves to yesterday?

With a soft sigh Denzil sat down next to her. His palms ached, as did his left knee, but that wasn't the important matter here. "Hey, what're you doing sitting on the floor here?" The voice he used was soft, because it generally wasn't a good sign when someone was sitting on the floor all by themselves. Sure, he had a class that was likely waiting on him right now, but they had waited that long, they could wait a little longer. After he'd solved this situation with Cecilia, right, that was her name, he'd also stop by the teacher's lounge and clean out his palms. The abrasions were a soft incessant sting, and he was glad that he wore loose pants today, otherwise his knee would stick to the fabric. Still, his priority was here, with this student that needed him.

<p>

<strong>In the dead of night…</strong></p>

<p>

She lowered herself in through a loose skylight in the dead of night, relying on the dull glow of a dollar store glowstick to find her way around. This was it, Facility 108.</p>

<p>

She sneered. What a laughable excuse for a training facility. These buildings had obviously seen some wear and tear. They weren’t anything special. What could she possibly have wanted with these specimens? Well, it didn’t matter. What the Mistress wanted, the Mistress got. And this little spy had plenty of time to get it, hours with the building all to herself.</p>

<p>

She failed to hear the faint hum of the automated systems.</p>

<p>

<strong>Later that morning</strong>…</p>

<p>

<em>Fuck</em>. Every time she had gone back near the doors, the security system threatened to go off. Apparently it was more concerned about keeping people in, rather than out. She was sure that some people were already aware of her, hearing skitter around like a mouse in the wall, or the faint whine of the motors in her cable spools. She’d have to make a break for it soon.</p>

<p>

So far though, everyone seemed preoccupied with their routines. Too preoccupied to notice a pale-skinned, blue haired thief in a skintight body suit hanging from the ceiling of an office she certainly wasn’t supposed to be in. Maybe she really would get out of here without a – <em>SHIT</em>.</p>

<p>

As the thief tugged on her cable to pull herself back up into the ceiling, the heavy metal helmet tumbled out of her grasp. She reached out to try and grab it, but forgot about the tension of her cables.</p>

<p>

<em>SHIT SHIT SHIT</em>.</p>

<p>

The helmet bounced off the desk, leaving a gouge in the wood and falling to the floor with a clatter that was immediately overshadowed by the crash of several cheap ceiling tiles being pulled down by an overly powerful cable. Someone had panicked, and latched a second cable to the wall to keep herself from ascending back into the ceiling before she could catch the helmet. The cables had a tug of war, and the drop ceiling lost.</p>

<p>

Knowing that there was no hope for recovering specimen, the thief released and reset her cables, quickly disappearing into the deep, dark maze of haphazard construction. She could only hope to run to the other side of the building and hope they would be too distracted to follow.</p>

<p>

As she crawled along to her escape, she heard a muffled snippet of the class below her.</p>

<p>

</p>

<p><em>

“…any such thing as a hero or a villain…”</em></p>

<p>

The thief rolled her eyes. Silly, pathetic children who still believed in the dichotomy of good and evil. Still, a boring discussion was easier on the ears than the lurid, over-bassed, disgusting attempt at “music” she heard while slipping past a room further down the hall.</p>

<p>

Hopefully everyone was stupid enough to follow the crashing noises in the office, instead of notice the scuffling above them.</p>

As more kids started filtering in, Tabby started feeling more comfortable. It was easier to slip into the background with a bit of a crowd going on and that was what she intended to do. But the ever present sensation, somewhere between an itch and a throb, was doing a fine job to remind her about what her mom said.

Make a friend

She sighs. Time to try step one again.

"It's nice. My parents said I can't with mine..."

Easy does it Tabby. Don't make eye contact, don't think about them looking at you like a freak, we all are here. Just smile and try and keep your chin up.

Soon,
the strange man thought to himself. Don't you worry, my friends. I'll have you out of your cramped prisons soon enough.

It was a beautiful day, with just the right number of clouds in the sky - seven, by his count from his current vantage point. He giggled as he realized one of them looked like a hot dog stuck in an ice cream machine, then stopped abruptly as he remembered why he was there.

He jiggled the handle on the door. Blast! He cursed silently. Locks on the doors...DOES THEIR EVIL KNOW NO BOUNDS!?

He heard a plorpt! and his foot suddenly felt colder. He looked down. Ice cream. There was ice cream on his foot. And a little boy staring at him, a now-empty ice cream cone in hand.

"Do you wanna see the birds too, mister?" the boy asked.

Trying to act confident, the man puffed his chest out proudly and declared, "Oh, I want to do more than see the birds, my lad! I aim to-"

He was cut short as the boy's mother showed up out of nowhere, dragging him away rather quickly. How rude, he thought. We were having a nice conversation.

Several minutes later, the Baltimore City Zoo erupted into chaos. Birds. Birds of every variety were suddenly loose. All out of their cages, and if anyone had happened to be not panicking enough to notice (like the little boy who was now watching the excitement with a large grin on his face), they would have seen a somewhat-homeless-looking man, only appearing to be slightly deranged somehow, with his arms spread wide and a look of pure glee on his face as he cried out, "BE FREE, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE SKY! GO FORTH, AND EMPTY YOUR COLONS WHERE YOU PLEASE!"

No one believed the little boy later when he insisted that the strange man then put on an army helmet, mounted an ostrich he referred to as Henry, and calmly rode off to God knew where.

Yes! he thought triumphantly. They're free! My brothers and sisters are all free once more!

The birds were everywhere. Most of the screaming had died down, now - everyone was coming around! He knew they would eventually, but this was faster than anticipated. Fantastic!

He leaned down and patted Henry's neck. "You've been strong-willed a long time, my friend. Now's your chance to fight back, alongside me!"

Henry squawked absently.

"Haha, oh you joker. So! What should our next move be?"

Silence.

"Ah, no real preference, eh? You'll never make general like I did with that attitude! Let's see..." he looked around, squinting through the mass of feathers and panicked disarray. "Aha! There! Onwards, my friends! We fly! For victory!" He heeled Henry into motion, and a long string of curses later was finally heading out towards the main gates of the zoo, seemingly completely oblivious to all oncoming traffic beyond.

The thundering crash snapped Asher out of his musical world in an instant. He snapped the volume off, and he was about to start directing the few students present in what to do when he heard it. The scuffling noises, again. He looked up.

You WERE there.

He raced over to his box of goodies, yanking out a small guitar amplifier and a short cable already connected to it. He hooked his guitar into the smaller amp as quickly as he could, knowing that the scuffling noise was getting further away with every second-

He stopped. The students. Right. He turned to face them, and spoke quickly, in hushed tones.

"Alright class, new plan," he started. His mind raced. What the hell do you say to a bunch of kids!? In a situation like this, especially? He acted on impulse. "You have two options. You can either go take refuge with the administration in the main office, or you can follow me. If you choose the latter, you are to stay as silent as you possibly can. And you are to stay as close to me as possible. If you can do that..." he turned on the little hip amp's overdrive setting. "...You get extra credit."

WHY!?

Well, too late now. He'd gone and acted on impulse, no time to question it. He waved the students towards the door quickly before racing off silently, guitar strapped to his shoulders, trying to find the quickly softening sound from the ceiling.

Ziya sat in her chair with crossed arms and an annoyed look on her face. The blaring music was getting on her nerves, and it was too early in the morning for such loud music that shouldn't even be considered music. She didn't even notice the boy with the red hair who was asleep in the back of the classroom until he lifted his head up, looking just as annoyed as she was. Their class was a rather eclectic group of people, after all.

She was snapped out of her impatience at the sound of a loud, sudden crash. She instantly sat up in her chair and shifted her gaze onto the others. The professor quickly shut the music off and she felt her mood lighten up the second the awfully loud music was turned off. Asher proceeded to offer them two options, but there was no way in hell she was going to the administration's office. It was about to time that things got interesting. When the professor proceeded to offer them extra credit for staying silent and close to him, Ziya rolled her eyes. Knowing Asher's personality, he had probably voiced the first thing on his mind to get the students to listen to him.

Still, she stood up from her chair and made her way across the classroom towards the door, stepping out into the hallway to see where the noise had came from.
"It came from the office further down the hall," she said, looking back at Asher and the other students, before heading out into the hallway.

Look at all these kids being polite and introducing themselves. So sweet. So polite. So innocent. So idiotic. And Director Chernov would defend them with her dying breath. Too bad that sounded so ominous and foreboding.

“I don’t do anything around here, actually,” she said to Kennith. “I’m the Director of the Commonwealth, and my office is in DC. Like I said, I’m only up in Baltimore for a little while to check on some friends. Very powerful friends. Just keeping them… well, you know. In the right kind of trouble.”

Scarlet glanced at the back of the room, where Goldilocks gestured to Tickle Me Emo in the back.

“Don’t be shy,” she said to him. “Being shy is for prissies. Walk up here like you own the place. I mean, over my dead body would I hand the key to Commonwealth to anyone without any experience in manslaughter, but whatever. You get my point.”

She shifted her weight and crossed her arms, and looked over at the younger agent standing still as stone next to her. She had shot him The Look a full five minutes ago, and he still hadn’t moved an inch. Guess he was a prissy too.

“Yeah, Harry,” she teased the agent. “We’re here for the tour. When are you going to start?”

Harry’s eye twitched. He was paralyzed with fear.

“Please… stop looking at me… ma’am…”

“Star struck. I understand.” Scarlet unclipped a pair of sunglasses from the lapel of her blazer and put them on. “Let’s do this.”

Harry sighed, relieved of the burden of paralysis as the gorgon broke her gaze. He was finally able to turn around and start walking down the hallway. He turned to the left, and went down a short corridor with a set of stainless steel double doors at the end.

“Well, let’s start with the laboratory first. It’s only a small one, but we do some evidence testing here. Did you know a lot of our powers leave behind electromagnetic signatures? We can trace that to - Oh, watch your step, there’s a few stairs h – AUUUGH!!!”

She stumbled as she reached the door, grabbing the girl's wrist to keep herself up, pulling herself back to her feet and continuing to move. "I'm sorry," she mouthed, intent on following the teacher. So much for sitting down...

She glanced back at the girl as she moved, gesturing her to follow.

And then, there was another girl - one she hadn't noticed - and she was leaving and where were they going and why were they staying there and they had to follow their teacher, didn't they?

Slowly, she caught up to the teacher.

Leon wasn't even in his bed but close, laying on the floor gripping the sheets that were pulled half way into the floor. Hung over but fully dressed and ready to go he sat up and rubbed his eyes, his ears ringing as Eden said something about a zoo. "I'm up!" Leon shouted back as he stood up on shaky legs and left his messy room.

He made his way into the kitchen and plopped down where his cereal was, looking down at it blankly.
" Rocket Pops, my favorite. Can't believe you remembered." He chuckled and ate them pretty fast, it had been a long time since he had the marshmallowly goodness after all." The zoo sounds nice, I guess I'll tag along." It was strange being back with Eden after such a long time, especially since Eden didn't miss a beat and made it feel as if they never parted.

Later.

Leon trailed behind Eden after they arrived at the zoo, figuring introductions were in order.
"Leon here, nice to meet and whatever." He was nonchalant as usual and was only here for Eden right now, but it was nice to be around people who were like him. He gazed around and appreciated what a nice day it was, especially since he no longer hand to hide. Off in the distance, but not too far away, Leon heard the panicking cries of people and sighed. "Sounds like they are having load of fun over there. Must be a group of hipsters protesting animal cruelty or something."

SCOGGAN, H. || SPYFALL || MENTAL DISCIPLINE CLASSROOM

The teacher looks to be her age, which makes Hannah... confused. She wouldn't feel right calling him any sort of honorific, but she doesn't want to call a teacher by his name.

Doesn't want to give him the wrong idea, either.

The younger girl also speaks to her, and Hannah shifts her weight from foot to foot uncomfortably, waving slightly in the kid's direction but really not sure how to handle two conversations.

"That, uh, um... Okay," she says to the professor lamely lamely, then winces, wondering if he thinks she's a dunce already. She inspects her fingers and adds, "I'm Hannah..." As he finishes talking, she nods and turns around to seat herself. The girl had motioned to the seat next to her... It wouldn't be polite to sit anywhere else. It's fine, really, because the second row is far enough from the front to avoid drawing attention and not too far away to pay attention. Perfect. "Hello," she says softly to her classmate, managing a smile as she sets her notebook down on the desktop.

She squirms in her seat uncomfortably as the teacher starts playing guitar. The loud noise is overwhelming, making her heart and her thoughts race. Clearly the girl who walks in shortly thereafter has a similarly distasteful opinion, because she certainly doesn't look happy as she sits down. They.... did say Mental Discipline, right? It's not a music class?

Hm. She has done her best to ignore the spiders completely, though not to much avail... but she can't help but notice that they're acting strangely. Further away in the building, occasionally large groups in the walls skitter away like something has disturbed him but she can't imagine wh-

CRASH

Hannah yelps as she jumps out of her seat, and she has to wrench herself (metaphorically) away from the transformation that nearly occurs from the spike in whichever stress hormone whose name she doesn't know.

I can't do this. I can't work this hard to fight it back every time anyone so much as makes a loud noise.

Pressing her hands to her beating heart, she looks up at the teacher (she still hasn't decided what to call him, except for maybe "you") as he starts speaking. She doesn't really want to get involved in whatever seemingly dangerous thing he's planning, but she's sensing something too - like before, the spiders are scattering, most definitely in the pattern of someone or something moving about unseen. Gasping, she realizes that it's just passed right over their classroom.

She can't not know. She can't deal with people lurking and creeping, she can't just let it happen and pretend she'll be alright. She needs to see what's happening. She needs to be prepared.

The annoyed girl - a little younger than Hannah, maybe? - pipes up with her theory, and then the sweet younger one that sits next to Hannah rises and follows her out, gesturing to Hannah to come with them.

When Hannah catches up, she timidly begins to add her two cents. "No, i-it wasn't the, the..."

Suddenly she remembers the order for silence, and she shuts up, cheeks dusting themselves with pink.

FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIE

It was faint at first. A soft rumble in the ground. A distant noise tapping lightly on Eden's eardrums. However, soon, the air became hot and tense, and the screeching that was so distant grew louder and more numerous. He tilted his chin to the sky, sensing an impending storm, when he witnessed an unimaginable sight. In a vortex of feathers and wings, a cloud of birds exploded over the Baltimore Zoo. The ground shuddered and throbbed as the dissonant screams of the birds and people choked the air and they all fell over each other running and flying aimlessly. The chaos fed into itself and soon burst into anarchy. Screaming, cawing, clawing, sprinting, everything was in such an overwhelming disarray that it seemed as though the world's equilibrium had been shaken to its core. However, Eden soon realized that the most ridiculous event had still not come.

"Aha! There! Onwards, my friends! We fly! For victory!"

Erupting from the zoo gate was a stampede of birds, both flying and grounded, led by a man—no, a
hero—with an army helmet. Screaming like a maniac, he commanded a large ostrich with grace and splendor. With his arrival, the pandemonium from the zoo flooded the streets, halting traffic and causing more panic. "Sounds like they are having load of fun over there," Leon said exasperatedly. "Must be a group of hipsters protesting animal cruelty or something." However, Eden was already lost. He kept his eyes locked on the man riding an ostrich, and a deadly glee appeared in his eyes.

He had an idea.

Turning momentarily to the whole group, he said with all the seriousness he could conjure in such a situation, "Don't stop me." Then, breaking out into a huge smile, he rocketed towards a scattered group of ostriches. Scanning for a target, he locked onto a certain large bird, laughing as he watched its stringy neck whirl around as it ran out of the gate toward him. There was only one chance to intercept it. Focus, run, jump. Eden's hand connected with the large, warm mass and he latched onto it, soaring into the air like a bird. In a miracle of pure luck, his bottom managed to land on the ostrich and, after some hasty positioning, he was off.

"Haha!" he shouted dramatically, doing his best to imitate the man's strange way of speaking. "To feel the wind rustle my being! Thank you, magnificent bird, for giving me freedom and life again! Come, we ride towards the unknown! For our brethren!

"Leon!" he shouted over his shoulder as loud as he could before disappearing. "Ride with me, brother!"

There she sat, in the back corner, of the ancient classroom. While her day had started with a bit of bullying, it was at least better than being ripped out of a ventilation shaft. Still, as Izzy listened to the other students, she could not help but make her own observations. They seemed so closed off, so angry about everything. Was she seeing a glimpse of her future in these girls? At the very least, they were ignoring her for the moment.

Then a soft mechanical whizzing noise came, followed by the opening of the door. Another, older student appeared. Though it was rude, Izzy could not help but stare at the mechanical mechanisms and joints that adorned Viola's suit. Her gawking was only broken by the entrance of another student. Sevan, seemed to be her name. Her arrival was a big benefit to Izzy, as it caused the instructor to recap the other responses. Izzy had been in her own little world, not paying much mind to the actual class. Plus, there was still that dull, blasted humming coming from the walls, again.
Still, she knew she had to try to be involved in the class. It was what her father wanted, after all.

"We are just discussing whether there is any such thing as a hero or a villain, and how to tell them apart if such things exist," that statement stuck in her mind like glue, until finally Izzy found the will to answer. Slowly her hand crept up into the air. Quickly remembering, none of the others had raised their hands, she spoke up.

"To say there are no heroes or villains, is to say there is no good and no evil, but there is. Though, like many things, we try to put it into black and white. Force things into categories. When in reality, there can be shades of gray, between the two extremes. So, I guess the real question is, 'what makes a true villain or hero?' Like you said. I feel a hero is anyone working to better the world for selfless reasons. A hero does it because they hope for better tomorrow. Where a villain has given up hope. They live in a pit of self despair and work to drag others down to their level, through violence and suffering, because that is the only sort of stuff they can feel anymore. So a hero acts on hope and a villain acts because they have lost all hope. Or at least, the extremes of those two categories have. While, rest just fall into some degree of those. Like someone who has killed might feel hopeless, when really they just need the right thing to happen and bring back their hope..."

Wow, did that all just come out of her? It felt like she had been rambling. She could already feel her cheeks burning red with the embarrassment of public speaking. Izzy quickly shifted in her seat and started looking at the wall closest to her. Which only enhanced that sounds she kept hearing. There was music in the other room but this was different, it almost sounded like Viola's joints. Then it came, a heavy thump. Something above them had come tumbling down. It was quickly followed by a crash, that was loud enough to Izzy, to send her skittering out of her seat.

Plastering herself against the wall, she had been half expecting the roof to come crashing down on her. After nothing came down, she looked around at the others, feeling even more sheepish than before. She knew what she had heard and started toward the door. Plus, this was just a bunch of bitter angry girls anyways. Whatever had made that sound, seemed way more interesting.
"Did you not here that? That crashing?" Being in a rush, Izzy had not even noticed, that her tail now looked more alike bristle brush, with every hair standing on end. At least it proved one thing, she had heard something. That sort of reaction was not something one could make up. It was like getting the goose bumps on command. Such things, just did not happen. Making it as far as the door, Izzy peered out into the hallway.

He watched with a stoic expression as his friend took a running leap onto the back of a rather large bird. The chaos brought a smile to Leon's face and the turn of events made him feel a sudden rush of excitement.

Without warning he took off into a full sprint, running up the hood of a car and leaping into the air. Time seemed to slow down as he flew through the air, month open and a crazed look in his eyes. He latched hold of the beast and joined his friend in a crazy escapade that rivaled their motorcycle joy riding years ago.
" Ride my noble steed, onward to glory!" He locked his legs under the birds wings and held on." Just like old times, right buddy?" He called out to Eden with a smile on his face, sheer joy and adrenaline overtaking him.

Allen McNabb//Lazarus

Car successfully exited... left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot, right foot... shoot. Left foot, twice the distance... Lazarus managed to waddle Allen McNabb up to the gate of the Baltimore Zoo. They allowed Ms. Kokinos to take attendance, which she did not, and began to piece together an introduction to the lesson plan.

They had found a very helpful site on the internet as to how to run a field trip to the zoo, how to keep children engaged, etc. It said that most students enjoy playing make-believe, and to use this fact to keep them interested in the daily activity. It suggested a lesson plan that had been shown to be highly successful: give the students a narrative, wherein they are scientists who study animals in the wild. Then, ask them to report on a specific set of data; predator vs prey behaviors, habitat, adaptions, places in the animal kingdom, etc. Quite brilliant!

Allen had been dressed for the occasion, as best Lazarus could determine from googling 'scientist': Bright white lab coat, dull bluish-gray button down shirt, tie or bow tie, and safety glasses. Today was going to be fun!

So, how to begin... 'Class, today you will... er... today you will pretend to be scientists.' Yes. Good. To continue... erm... 'Here have these worksheets!' No, no, that sort of thing is filed under 'impersonal'. They should feel like they know us! Err, know McNabb. So... 'You as my friends should accept these worksheets that you should fill out in the zoo!' PERFECTION. Then... 'As scientists, you should make observations and...' and... nevermind that bit. 'You should look for things in animals, such as habitat, diet, or behavior in order to better learn... about... your world. Our, our world.' Now, wait, this is all nothing to do with their classes... how to tie it in... 'Also look for... for... ways in which animals...' Emotional composure! 'ways in which animals compose their emotions!' Yes yes yes! Wait! WAIT! What if they already know something that the animal knows!? Might they feel slighted? I must fix this...

After about five pages of thinking, Lazarus's finished project read like this: "Class, today you will pretend to be scientists in the wild who are my friends! As my friends, you should accept these worksheets that can be filled out in the zoo! You should look for things in animals, such as habitat, diet, or behavior in order to better learn about OUR world. In keeping with your subject matter, page three of the worksheet is on adaption. You may best know adaption by the ways in which your body functions uniquely and superiorly to that of the rest of your race, but it is better known in the animal kingdom as ways in which certain animals are better suited to an environment than others. Also, for my Emotional Composure class, you will receive most desirable extra credit if, when next we convene, you can provide a detailed list of ways in which animals are better at composing their emotions than you are. Any questions?" and they were very proud of it.

Lazarus opened Allen's mouth to begin. Fortunately, they got as far as "Errr, class,-" before a cacophony of birds erupted from within the zoo, approaching the gate. "Huh", they concluded.

Okay, if we ask if this is normal we look weird. How do we- Young Misters Trammel and Gray both mounted flightless birds like trained acrobats and took off. So this is DEFINITELY normal.

"Isn't this a fun day at the zoo, class? HaHAha! This is a common occurrencewhich Ihave seenhappenbefore!" Allen said, and then inhaled.

Grazie mille but, don't comment on my mistake please >.<

Cecilia didn't have to wait that long. In less than 30 minutes, Mr. Denzil took notice of the girl by the entrance and settling down close to her, asked why was she just, sitting by the wall.

The Italian was really glad it was him who had appeared. First, because it meant she wasn't late; Second, he most certainly knew the way to his own class...

"Well... I'm not sure if you remember, but yesterday, I got hopelessly lost wandering through the hallways...", she explained, "So, I figured out that since the layout seems so chaotic to me, and I have no map. It was better to wait for someone to show up, ask them to guide me to your class or something. I just...Don't feel like getting lost again."

That last line had been executed with hand movements representing, both her listed problems, and finalized with a shrug and awkward laughter.

Cecilia felt like she was being really silly at that moment.

Then, she grabbed her backpack and started scavenging it for something. It's funny how ladies bags work. No matter how organized you are, it always take some time until you find whatever it is you are looking for.

A minute later, the young Italian took Denzil's pair of gloves out of her bag and holding those in her hand, moved them towards the teacher:

"These helped me a lot at yesterday's snowball fight. Graz-", she stopped before fixing it, "Oh, I mean, thank you very much."

Oops, she got too excited and almost thanked him in Italian. Good thing she realised it quick enough... People usually got annoyed by the whole 'mixing up Italian words with English', still, it was such a hard to cut habit!

Before Denzil could comment on that slip of her tongue, Cecilia grabbed her backpack and got up, quick as bolt:

"Well, we should REALLY get going. Or else, we might end up even more late than we already are..."

Victoria blinked, not that you could see it, at the scene that begin unfolding before them. The manic screams of some... guy... A whole bunch of birds being loosed onto the zoo populus. This of course followed by screams and mayhem and the rather theatrical stampede at the zoo gates. The poor dear helpless but to just stare in... well... whatever embodies WTF... Any panic? Not quite... birds were not exactly fear inducing(and because she wasn't in the thick of it). This ridiculousness only compounded by the fact that not one, but two of her fellow students jumped in ostriches and rode them with lunatic abandon! The creepy man's unsure gibberings seemed quite normal in comparison, escaping her radar.

"Sir... I uh... I don't really think this is common... maybe we should call animal control or something... " She said to the older man, though she would be willing to bet ten bucks that Birdman was going to creamed by a bus before the police got here. Eden and Leon too, probably... speaking of which... where the heck did they learn to ride ostriches? Aegis? What the heck were they teaching here? Whatever. She had a feeling she would do terrible in any ostrich wrangling class, she would have to attempt to bargain for extra credit instead.

Maybe she should be a bit more worried about this catastrophe(?)... that guy could be one of those mad supers. The silliness of all this was struggling with her inner mind in attempt to keep her from taking this very seriously. At least for now... I mean... it wasn't like the birds were going the Alfred Hitchcock route, or the man was toting machine guns or breathing fire profusely. She did, however, suspect that they would have to chase down their fellow students. Or, coming with a sinking realization, may be the man too... In the name of community service.

There weren't so many students yet, yet so noisy already. There're like 3 young girls, all of which were also seem to be amazed by the professor and his odd taste of music. Laurent was just sit there, waiting for this to be over so he can be back in his room, he was bored already, yet there would be like 2 hours lecture more.

- Geez... Here come troubles...

He thought in his head as he heard the noise. It was something crashed outside, to be honest he didn't give 2 shits about it, just another day to him... But then, to think, if that didn't happen and he didn't take advance of that situation, things would turned out differently.

- I would like to check out too. It seem serious, teacher...

It was just an excuse, he wanted to get out of the class. He really could use some fresh air and a cigarette, he's a strong smoker and smoked a lots back then. As he finished his sentence, Laurent stood up and started to walk to the door, both hand in his pockets. It was quite sure that he just wanted to leave.

*Bump*

As he walked to the door, Laurent bump into a student, a girl. She seem to be a lot younger than Laurent, maybe she was around 16 or 17, even younger than his sister Marie. An impact like that might have hurt the girl.

- I'm sorry.

Laurent spoke briefly, and just leave.

Little did he knew, when he bumped to the girl, his pack of cigarettes slipped off and dropped on the ground. It lied near the girl's feet.

If Ren look into this, what she can see is probably Laurent bought it from a unknown random person who smuggled cigarettes to facility 108.
