Futuristic Destiny Roleplay Interest Check.

Fukushima Akira

オーダーののサンクタム & RPN's Resident Suit Gang Leader
So I'm looking to start up a Destiny oriented Roleplay. To give you a synopsis, here's the background plot:

571849

The setting, about 700 years in the future, follows a prosperous period of exploration, peace, and technological advancement known as the Golden Age. In a universe where humans have spread out and colonised planets in the Solar System, an event known as "the Collapse" saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind teetering on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by "the Traveller", a white, spherical celestial body whose appearance centuries before had enabled humans to reach the stars. The Collapse was caused by a mysterious force called the Darkness, an ancient enemy of the Traveller that plagues the galaxy. The Traveller now hovers above the last safe city on Earth, simply called The Last City, which is surrounded by a massive Wall, and its presence allows the Guardians — the defenders of the City — the ability to wield an unknown power, only referred to as "Light". The player takes on the role of a Guardian, and is tasked with reviving the Traveller while investigating and destroying alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out.

Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it is discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilisations, and are now encroaching upon the City. Throughout the game, players have to combat aggressive aliens who have occupied the Solar System. Just like the Light for the Guardians, the Darkness lends powers to these alien threats. There are five separate races in the game, each occupying different planets. The Fallen are an insectoid race of nomadic pirates who scavenge ruined settlements on Earth, the Moon, and Venus for resources. The Hive are a macabre race of ancient aliens who have created massive underground settlements beneath Earth and the Moon's surface. The Vex are semi-organic androids who are attempting to seize control of Venus and Mars by turning them into their machines, which they have already done to Mercury. The Cabal are a military-industrial empire of gigantic amphibians who have established massive fortifications on Mars. The Taken, a new race introduced in The Taken King, are corrupted versions of regular enemies, who infest areas on every planet. This is also a new faction of Fallen called the Devil Splicers, which are Fallen who have been modified by a technological plague called SIVA. They are found on Earth in a zone outside of the Wall called the Plaguelands.

Every race utilises different tactics and weapons in combat. The Fallen possess cloaking and short-range teleportation technologies to increase their mobility. The Hive use superior numbers to overwhelm their opponents in close quarters while more elite units attack from a distance. The Vex utilise hard-light shields and teleport units of infantry into the battlefield en-masse. The Cabal rely on heavy armour, ballistic shields, and jump packs to combat players. The Taken, in addition to all the other races specialities, use high mobility and plenty of long-range attacks to out-manoeuvre their enemies. All of these races are hostile towards each other (with the exception of the Hive and the Taken), as they can often be observed attacking one another for territorial dominance.

You can RP your OC, or can use an NPCs in Destiny's world. The Roleplay would start where Destiny is currently in game; Shortly after the death of Cayde-6.

Roles:

The Vanguard
571848
"When a terrible threat rises, Guardians look to the Vanguard, the closest thing they have to a command structure. These elite veterans coordinate the reports of roaming Hunters, the analyses of cloistered Warlocks, and the instincts of grizzled Titans into a single plan of action."
The Vanguard are elite Guardians who coordinate the Last City's defences, organise assaults on enemy strongholds and assassinations of their leaders, and mentor newly-risen Guardians. Some Guardians work directly for the Vanguard as scouts, investigating potential threats to the City far afield. They are representatives of the three Guardian types there is one for Hunter, one for Titan, and one for Warlock. They are a council and they consult each other on how they will send they're Guardians out to defend the Last City and it's people. For Titans, Commander Zavala is their Vanguard, for Warlocks, Ikora Rey is their Vanguard, and for Hunters, their Vanguard is currently empty, as the previous Vanguard, Cayde-6, was killed by Prince Uldren Sov.

-------------------------

Guardians
571835

"We take our first breath, with no memory of who we were before, yet we are inexorably drawn to the Light. We fight, we die, and we live again. "
Guardians are reanimated corpses brought to life with the Traveller's Light carried by a Ghost. They are a standing army of specialised soldiers tasked with the defence of the Last City on Earth. They are also responsible for exploring the remnants of human civilisation abandoned throughout the solar system and investigating the remains of their Golden Age.

Guardians wage a vicious armed conflict against a myriad of extraterrestrial species who pose an immediate threat to the survival of humanity. The greatest source of the Guardian's power lies in their ability to harness the energy of The Traveller and use it as a weapon against their opponents. Guardians also have access to a Ghost, an artificially intelligent flying robot that can assist the Guardian in tactical situations.

Classes:

Titans
571831

"You hail from a long line of heroes, forged from strength and sacrifice. Our enemies may be deadly and merciless, but so are you."
The Titan is a Guardian class which specialises in armour. The first Titans built and defended The Wall that protects The City. Their heritage is rooted in strength, sacrifice, and mercilessness.

Titans can be distinguished by their heavy, full-body armour and swept-back helmets. The Titan's unique armour piece is a mark, a piece of cloth worn on the right hip intended to show their allegiance, lineage, or achievements.

-------------------------

Hunters
571832
"Hunters once prowled the wilderness and wastelands, taking big risks for even bigger rewards. You're no outlaw—at least, not anymore—but making your own luck has always meant bending the rules."
The Hunter is a Guardian class that specialises in agility, stealth, and marksmanship. Hunters are "quick on the trigger and deadly with a blade," so much that they have earned a fearful reputation and are known as the "Masters of the Frontier."

Hunters were once survivors that roamed the wastelands and wilderness making their own luck. Through manipulation of the Traveller's energies, Hunters learned how to survive in the wild. This heritage has led to their characteristic tendency of bending the rules to suit their particular situation. Being the trailblazers amongst Guardian classes, Hunters serve as invaluable scouts when surveying hostile and dangerous territory combining their trademark daring and ingenuity.

Though Hunters prefer working alone, others see the value of working with other Guardians as part of a fireteam. Some fear them as being too reckless and dangerous, but their bravery has led to many discoveries dating back to the Golden Age.

-------------------------
Warlocks
571834
"Warlocks have long studied the Traveller, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown."
The Warlock is a Guardian class that specialises in combining "magic" powers granted by The Traveller with modern weapons. Warlocks have long studied The Traveller, which gives rise to their ability to harness some of its powers. As the Warlocks advance through levels, their arcane powers grow stronger.

In appearance, Warlocks can be distinguished by their rounded helmets and long vestments. As with the other classes, in addition to head, chest armour, gauntlets, and leg armour, they have a special fifth piece of armour that is unique to their class and further helps to distinguish them from their brethren in arms: a bond (armband) worn on the upper-left arm.

-------------------------

There is also three main races for the Guardians:

Human
571840

"This was our world, our Solar System. We were here first. And no matter what The Darkness brings, we will be here at the dawn."
Humans, known taxonomically as Homo sapiens, are a sentient species native to Earth. They take a no-nonsense approach, a tough and stern outlook with a goal of rebuilding civilisation as quickly as possible.
Awoken
571842

"The others sing this song of Light and Dark. We, together, have transcended such unimaginative limitations. "
The Awoken are a bluish-gray-skinned species. They are descendants of Humans who, during the Collapse, tried to run to the far edges of known space to escape The Darkness. Something mysterious and strange happened to them at the edge of Human-controlled space, which altered them forever.

Many of the Awoken live in The Reef, but others also live on Earth. Earth-born Awoken who venture to The Reef often go unwelcomed by Queen Mara Sov as outsiders.

Exo
571845

"Ask yourself: what threatened your Golden Age ancestors so much that they constructed the Exos to defend themselves? "
Exos are a species of humanoid machines. Exos began as self-aware war machines developed by humanity during the Golden Age for a long forgotten war, with the sole purpose of protecting their creators. They were rebooted during the Collapse and now have no memory of their original function. Exos are "so advanced that nothing short of a Ghost can understand their inner functions. They remain ciphers, even to themselves; their origins and purpose lost to time. Whoever built the Exos fashioned them in humanity's image, gifting them with diversity of mind and body. Many of the City's Exo citizens live and work alongside their organic brethren, while others fight again, reforged in the Light of the Traveller to serve as Guardians. The number after an Exo's name represents the number of times their memory has been wiped, with 20 being the most an Exos mind can be wiped before fragmentation of the mind begins.

--------------------------------------------------

Light
Light is a mysterious power given to Guardians by The Traveller. Although the precise nature of the Traveller's Light remains largely unknown, all manifestations of the Light's energies are bound with the fundamental forces of the universe.
  • Arc Light is derived from the deep forces that bind together complex matter.
  • Solar Light is derived from the energy produced by quantum forces.
  • Void Light is derived from the dark energy of the vacuum 'beneath' matter.
Ghosts
571847
"In its dying breath, The Traveller created the Ghosts to seek out those who can wield its Light as a weapon—Guardians—to protect us and do what the Traveller itself no longer can."
A Ghost is a levitating artificial intelligence used by Guardians. Ghosts support Guardians by performing certain actions such as illuminating darkened areas, hacking Golden Age technology, and informing Guardians of incoming hostile threats. Ghosts also have a navigation mode which locates mission objectives and Faction missions from the Tower.

Ghosts originated from The Traveller's technology and Light and seek out their Guardian companions from the ancient dead, reviving them, and afterwards, resurrecting them continuously if they are killed by the forces of The Darkness.

This will be a sandbox RP where you can craft a back story, story line and character from scratch. The sandbox will be multiple locations and planets, such as Earth, the Moon, Venus, Mars, The Reef, Titan, Nessus, IO, the Tangled Shore and the Dreaming City. You have complete creative freedom to develop your character as you see fit, so long as you don't do something that is irreversible, such as attack the Tower or kill one or both of the Vanguards. The RP will keep up to date with new expansions as they're released. If you're interested in this Roleplay idea, just reply here letting me know ^^

Is this going to be focused more on Destiny 1 or Destiny 2 story wise?
It is focused on Destiny 2's main story, but character stories, interactions etc are all up to you. So the main overarching theme will be the game's story, picking up during the current season. You can decide if your character was one of the Guardians risen in Old Russia, or you could be a newly resurrected Guardian. You can also make up what your character(s) did in Destiny 1 :)

cool... I just wanted to know what the state of the Vanguard would be in the story... current season must mean we're talking during the events of Forsaken (unless I new expansion came out that I didn't know about)

It's detailed in the above post. Cayde is dead, Ikora and Zavala are the current Vanguard. The RP would take place in the current state of Destiny, which is Joker's Wild.

...

I am interested, only because I must glorify my favorite class.

Titan FTW.
